Learn more about this film and the September worldwide movement in support of it HERE.

For New York area Pumas, there will be a special FREE screening of the film Monday, September 21st at Hunter College the School of Visual Arts, with the director and producers, including Abigail Disney (niece of Walt and Lily, and also featured in the same NYT magazine as one of a new breed of rich women who now donate their charity to WOMEN’S organizations). Click HERE for more info. I’m tempted to go myself.

In the recent New York Times Magazine issue devoted to the plight of women worldwide, Deborah Solomon interviewed Liberian president Ellen Sirlieaf, first woman head of state in Africa in history. She asked Madam President whether if women ruled the world, war would still exist. Sirleaf’s answer:

“No. It would be a better, safer and more productive world. A woman would bring an extra dimension to that task — and that’s a sensitivity to humankind. It comes from being a mother.”

I love that answer. If women ruled the world, there would be no war. I don’t know if she’s right, but I would really like to find out.

But my favorite quote from the interview is in the last question:

Q: Why do you think we’ve never had a female president in the United States?
A: “I have to ask you that question. You’ve got to vote for her.”

Something tells President Sirleaf may be a Hillary supporter. That makes her a Puma in my book.

“You’ve got to VOTE for her.”
