health care reform

Good morning Pumas! I must apologize for my extended absence. I haven’t been doing anything as fabulous as Violet Socks since last Sunday. It’s been a week of earth moving, river redirecting mayhem at Chez Murphy. While it HAS been wonderful to be outside in the glorious warmth of almost-Spring, I’ve MISSED this place. Ack! [...]

This from Drudge is just too damn funny. (h/t sistermoon)

Just as the healthcare drama in the capitol reaches a grand finale, congressional officials are warning employees to avoid the DRUDGE REPORT!

Vote FOR Women

in Vote FOR Women

The Nelson-Hatch amendment to grab women’s Constitutional rights so that the jackasses in Congress can ransom the custody of them has been tabled. That keeps our Constitutional rights (sort of) safe (temporarily). It is important to note that ALL but 2 of the women in the Senate, including two Republicans, voted against Nelson-Hatch.
Meanwhile the polls [...]

Reid has apparently cut Senator Barbara Mikulski’s Amendment #201 OUT of the health bill. It would make basic women’s health care (like prenatal care, cancer screenings, etc.) part of all basic insurance plans:

“Amendment #201: Improving Coverage of Women’s Preventative Health Care
The amendment would require health plans to cover—with no or limited cost sharing requirements—women’s preventive [...]

Once we are all settled in our cozy new home on  the Moon, we will be destroying your planet with salted thermonuclear bombs. We will not feel a shred of guilt.

“Authorities seized more than 60 videos and computer equipment from the home of 48-year-old Jared Mohler, according to the warrant. Mohler, his father, three brothers [...]

The New York Times, along with MANY other news outlets, insists on framing its tepid objection to the Stupak amendment in terms of “abortion services.”  This morning the editors urged the Senate to “work to preserve a woman’s right to abortion services.”
Oh, please. Give me an everlasting break! During the Civil Rights Movement did the [...]

But it sure as hell IS an “Abortion Bill” now, you relentless Jackass.

Obama’s ABC interview –>

This is a Health Care bill, not an abortion bill

“I laid out a very simple principle, which is this is a health care bill, not an abortion bill,” Obama said. “And we’re not looking to change what is the principle [...]

That’s Violet Sox’s line, and it’s a good one. So, can someone please answer this question: If the Democrats won’t stand up for women, why should women stand up for the Democrats?
The Stupak Amendment:
Here’s the Roll Call on the vote. Sixty four Democrats voted for it. The obama Democratic party has now proven itself to [...]

There, now that you’ve had your giggles for the morning, did you hear the big news? Yup — it turns out that Sarah Palin is not the STOOPID CARIBOU BARBIE SLUT they told us she was. It turns out that a dude from Manhattan heard her speak in Hong Kong, and was like, “Whoa, [...]

Oh, well. As Miq has also pondered, what good has EVER come from an obama speech?
Tuesday, September 15, 2009:
Following President Obama’s speech to Congress last week, support for his health care reform plan increased steadily to a peak of 51% yesterday. However, the bounce appears to be over. The latest daily tracking shows that support [...]
