An 81-year-old man shot and killed his wife and middle-aged son yesterday in their Fairfax County home before fatally shooting himself in what police described as an apparent double murder-suicide and “a family tragedy.”

The bodies of Thomas K. Appleberry, his wife, Rachel, 81, and son, Thomas Jr., 53, were discovered in their home on Cinnamon Creek Drive, north of Vienna, after police received a call at 9:22 a.m. from the couple’s daughter.

Residents of the Cinnamon Creek subdivision said the elder Thomas Appleberry — known to residents as “Mr. Appleberry” — was a friendly neighbor who loved to walk his dog in the morning.

Man Kills Wife In New Jersey Church

(CBS/ AP) A gunman drove across the country to confront his estranged wife, then killed her and another man in a church vestibule as Sunday services let out, authorities said. One other person was injured in the attack, which sent churchgoers scrambling for safety.

Pa. Man Kills Girlfriend Over Sandwiches

UNIONTOWN, Pa. — A man threw a microwave at his girlfriend, then fatally beat her after she refused to heat up sandwiches, police said.

Walter S. Fordyce, 58, of Uniontown, remained jailed without bond Thursday on a charge of criminal homicide. It wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.

Fordyce told police he began arguing with his live-in girlfriend, Mary McCann, 58, early Thursday.

After throwing her to the floor, Fordyce threw a microwave oven onto McCann’s chest after she refused to heat up sandwiches for him, he told police. Fordyce also said he stomped on McCann’s chest repeatedly then banged her head on the floor until she lost consciousness — but that he also said he didn’t mean to kill her, police said.

“It was an accident. I didn’t do it on purpose,” police quoted Fordyce as saying.

ATLANTA (July – A Pakistani man is charged with killing his 25-year-old daughter in Georgia because she wanted out of an arranged marriage, police said.

Chaudhry Rashid, 54, of Jonesboro, an Atlanta suburb, appeared in court Tuesday afternoon to face murder charges in the death of Sandeela Kanwal, according to court records.

This is an unusual post because of the sentence. Usually spouse murder is tried as manslaughter with 10 year sentence. There is a group trying to get it up to second degree murder with a 20 year sentence. Even with life he could be out in anywhere from 15- 25 years.

A 57-year-old Mississauga man was handed a life prison sentence today for the horrific hammer slaying of his wife of 31 years.

Julian Strojnik pleaded guilty to second-degree murder after admitting he repeatedly struck his wife Zofia about her head in an escalating and brutal attack in their Shawnmarr Rd. townhouse in the early hours of Oct. 16, 2006.

A medical examiner found 23 separate blunt force injuries to her scalp in the frenzied assault that began in their bedroom and ended at the front door of their home after she was dragged back inside while trying to flee for her life.

Police Say Man Beat Woman To Death With Baseball Bat

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Security was tight in a Manchester courtroom Tuesday as a Weare, N.H., man faced charges of beating a Manchester woman to death with a baseball bat.

Police said Todd Peters beat Edith Riley, 35, to death inside her Valley Street apartment on Saturday while her 12-year-old daughter was in the next room. Riley’s boyfriend, Timothy King, 21, was critically injured, and King’s relatives said he was beaten beyond recognition.

“I can’t recognize him,” said Bryan King, Timothy King’s brother. “Only through his tattoos.”

2 arrested in beating death of 90-year-old woman

Police say that a hulking 6-foot-tall man and his wiry buddy beat a 90-year-old Port Richmond woman in a purse-snatching, and that a gun-toting teen ended an argument with a soldier home on leave by blasting him in the back.
But Philadelphia police yesterday announced that they have arrested suspects in the two unrelated killings.

Charles Warenecki, 31, and Daniel T. Hart, 23, were charged with murder and related offenses in the Sept. 20, 2007, attack on Alice Thurnau, 90, on Thompson Street near Ontario.

Thurnau, who walked with a cane and was hard of hearing, had just left her home, where she was proud to live alone. The bespectacled, white-haired woman died a month later of injuries that included a broken hip, fractured jaw and broken ribs.

Florida man kills ex as she begs 911 dispatcher for help, family says

PALM BEACH — The deadly rampage of a Gainesville-area man who authorities say tracked down and killed his ex-girlfriend Monday in her apartment near West Palm Beach played out live over two telephones calls, according to an arrest report.

Laronda Becker was pleading with a 911 dispatcher for deputies to hurry when Reginald Johnson allegedly shot her dead. Seconds later, as he shot himself in the head in a botched attempt to take his life, he was talking with his aunt in Alachua County.

In the 911 call, Becker said that Johnson had entered the bedroom and begged police to come quickly. Over the dispatcher’s line an altercation was heard and a gunshot. Then the sound of Becker’s mother, also in the room, screaming.

Seconds after Johnson rammed through the bedroom and fired the shot at the apartment on Haverhill Road south of Okeechobee Road, he was talking with his aunt in Alachua County.

The aunt later told a detective that she could hear Becker’s children screaming and asked where he was. She got no answer but could hear police in the background and told him to give himself up.

She heard a gunshot and then the line went dead.

A day after the horrific scene played out at the apartments at 1913 N. Haverhill Road, Johnson lay alive at St. Mary’s Medical Center, now charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

An arrest report revealed that Johnson tried to shoot his ex’s mother, Shirley Richards, but failed because the gun would not discharge.

Laronda Becker fled the Gainesville area and spent the last two years in fear, hiding from Johnson.

Nurse kills hit man hired by estranged husband

San Francisco, Aug 29 (DPA) A emergency room nurse in Portland, Oregon has killed a hit man who tried to murder her with a hammer after being hired by her estranged husband, according to local TV station KATU Thursday.

Susan Kuhnhausen, 51, choked the man to death after he attacked her as she returned home from work earlier this month.

On Wednesday police arrested her husband Michael Kuhnhausen, 58, charging that he hired the hitman, 59-year-old Edward Dalton Haffey, to murder his wife. He was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder. Kuhnhausen was ordered held on $500,000 bail.

Susan Kuhnhausen was not seriously hurt in the attack and was released from hospital after treatment for minor injuries.

Cops: Man beat girlfriend and held her hostage over text messages…

GOODLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 40-year-old Lapeer County man beat his girlfriend with a cell phone, bound her with duct tape and held her captive for about nine hours because of text messages from a friend, authorities said.

Michael Nordstrom on Monday pleaded not guilty to charges of domestic violence and unlawful imprisonment.

The sheriff’s department said the woman told investigators that her boyfriend bound and beat her with the phone and his fists after reading text messages Sunday afternoon at the home they share in Goodland Township. The 39-year-old woman escaped late Sunday to the police department in nearby Imlay City, about 45 miles north of Detroit.

Nordstrom didn’t have an attorney on record with the district court. A preliminary conference was set for Jan. 5.

This news article is from the Seattle Post in their year end roundup of homicides. Tracey Lee Creamer Debbie Lynn Bonilla and Baerbel Roznowski were all working within the justice system for help. Baerbel was killed three hours after her boyfriend received a restraining order.

Two California College Football Players Charged With Raping Unconscious Woman, 18

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Two Santa Ana College football players and a friend have been charged with raping and assaulting an 18-year-old woman while she lay unconscious in an Orange County hotel room.

Freshman running back Michael Clemmons, 19, and sophomore wide receiver Luster Lewis, 20, were arrested this week after someone found a 19-minute video the players made of the assault, the Orange County district attorney’s office said Friday.

John Paul Foster II, 22, is also accused of helping the players repeatedly rape the victim in July after she passed out at a party at a hotel in Tustin.

The three men each pleaded not guilty to six counts of rape and sexual assault and were being held Friday on $100,000 bail.

Foster was arrested Monday, Clemmons on Tuesday and Lewis surrendered Friday.

Attorneys for Foster and Clemmons could not be immediately reached. A message left with Lewis’ attorney was not immediately returned.

Jason Kehler, sports information coordinator for Santa Ana College, said he was not aware of the charges because the school was closed for the holidays.

I included this one because the guy threatened to kill his wife or his child. He chose to kill his 30 month old child, wife in protection so she was safe from him. He was ordered to pay child support.

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. – A judge in Arizona has found a 12-year-old boy guilty of premeditated murder in the shooting death of his mother.

Because the boy was tried as a juvenile he can only be held until he turns 18.

The husband claims this was an accident but something just seems strange about the story. I have used these air guns and they are lethal and can not be accidentally fired any more than a regular gun can be. Negligence, maybe, but he sure had to go through a few steps in order to fire this gun.

A 44-year-old Passaic County woman died yesterday after her husband shot her in the back with a pellet gun the couple used to hunt squirrels, police said.

Authorities said Cheryl McDonald of West Milford, was shot inside her home on Weeden Drive. She died en route to Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains at about 10:30 a.m.

The shooting appears to have been accidental, authorities said. However, McDonald’s husband, Frank, has been charged with reckless manslaughter and will be held at Passaic County jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.

A Takoma Park police officer yesterday shot a man who was holding a knife to the throat of a blood-soaked woman he had beaten with a religious cross, authorities said. A bullet passed through the man’s chest and struck the woman’s arm.

Neither the suspect nor the victim was critically injured. The suspect, who has been accused of domestic violence in the past, was taken into custody on attempted murder and other charges, police said.

(CNN) — A California man sold his 14-year-old daughter to an 18-year-old man for cash, beer and meat — then called police when the prospective bridegroom didn’t live up to his end of the deal, authorities said Tuesday.

Marcelino de Jesus Martinez faces felony charges, according to police in Greenfield, California.

Marcelino de Jesus Martinez, 36, of Greenfield, California, was arrested Monday and booked into the Monterey County Jail, Greenfield police said in a statement. He faces felony charges of receiving money for causing a person to cohabitate, police said.

Martinez had arranged through a third party to have his daughter marry the older teenager, identified by authorities as Margarito de Jesus Galindo, of Gonzales, California. In exchange, Galindo was to pay Martinez $16,000 and provide him with 160 cases of beer, 100 cases of soda, 50 cases of Gatorade, two cases of wine, and six cases of meat, Greenfield Police Chief Joe Grebmeier told CNN.

All those involved in the case are from the western Mexican state of Oaxaca, the police chief said. In the Oaxacan community, such an agreement is “normal and honorable,” he said. “In California, it’s against the law.”

In Oaxacan culture, the food and beverages are provided by a prospective bridegroom for the wedding, Grebmeier said.

Authorities believe the young girl went with Galindo willingly, and no coercion was involved, he said. However, the girl is four years younger than California’s age of consent, although the law does allow 16-year-olds to marry with parental consent.

“The 14-year-old juvenile moved in with Galindo and when payments were not received, the father, Martinez, called Greenfield PD to bring back the daughter,” according to a written police statement.

The girl was reported as a runaway juvenile on December 18, Grebmeier said, and police took a missing-persons report and put out a flier.

But “as we investigated, it started to develop into something that may not have been a runaway,” he said, and police began to believe Martinez wanted them to bring back his daughter, since he had received no payment.

On January 2, Galindo and the girl returned from a trip to Soledad, a town a few miles north of Greenfield, and were interviewed. Police learned the couple had never married, but had engaged in sexual relations, Grebmeier said.

Galindo and Martinez were neighbors at an apartment complex and were apparently from the same area in Mexico, the police chief said. A third party was brokering the marriage deal, he said, and is cooperating with authorities. But the young couple apparently left for Soledad before the negotiations were complete.

Martinez was arrested Sunday after undergoing additional questioning by police, Grebmeier said. He remained jailed Tuesday.

Galindo was cited for statutory rape and released, Grebmeier said. The girl was returned to her family, he said, as authorities believe she is in no danger. However, police reported the case to child protection officials.

The Greenfield area has had a large influx of Oaxacans. A presentation on understanding Oaxacan culture is posted on the Greenfield police Web site.

“Arranged marriages are common in several cultures, and this is not an issue among consenting adults over the age of 18,” police said in the statement. “But California has several laws regarding minors, the age of consent and human trafficking.”

Police are trying to be culturally sensitive, Grebmeier told CNN, but “when I’m in Mexico, I have to respect Mexican laws. When you’re in the United States, you have to respect United States laws. That’s the bottom line.”

He said he wanted to send a message to immigrant communities that such behavior is unacceptable. He said his department has long heard rumors of children as young as 12 being sold or offered for sale. The Greenfield police statement said arranged marriages between young girls and older men “have become a local problem.”

Greenfield is about 140 miles southeast of San Francisco.

A man under a court order to stay away from a Laurel woman shot her in the face as she returned home from church, fled and then committed suicide early yesterday morning on the side of Interstate 95 in Howard County, police said.

Laurel police said Aqil Abdul-Haqq, 32, waited Wednesday night in the 15400 block of Arbory Way for Soyini Taylor, whom he had dated. When she arrived home about 10 p.m., Abdul-Haqq approached and fired. He then stood over her and shot her in the face a second time, police spokesman Jimmy Collins said.

ROME, Italy (CNN) — An American woman and her Italian former boyfriend went on trial in Perugia Friday in the 2007 killing of a British exchange student, with reporters crowding the courtroom as proceedings began.

Both Raffaele Sollecito and Amanda Knox deny charges of murder and sexual assault.

The cases of Amanda Knox, 21, and 24-year-old Raffaele Sollecito are expected to take months.

They are charged with murder and sexual assault in the November 2007 slaying of Knox’s roommate, Meredith Kercher, who died in what prosecutors called a “drug-fueled sex game” with the couple and a third person, Rude Guede.

Guede was convicted of murder in October and sentenced to 30 years in prison. He is expected to be one of about 100 witnesses in the case.

Kercher was found dead in her bed, half-naked, with a knife wound to her neck. In court papers, prosecutors state that Sollecito held Kercher by her wrists while Knox poked at her with a knife and Guede sexually assaulted her.

Prosecutors say they have physical evidence placing the defendants at the scene, and that they gave investigators confusing and contradictory statements about their whereabouts the night Kercher died.

Knox first said she was at the house she shared with Kercher, then changed her story, according to court records.

Sollecito, meanwhile, said he was never at the house, but was at his apartment, watching a movie on his computer with Knox. Later, he told investigators he did not remember whether Knox was with him the entire night.

Defense lawyers are expecteed to argue that the physical evidence was tainted by sloppy police work.

The case will be heard by a panel of eight judges. The trial has drawn more than 140 journalists from 86 news outlets to the courthouse in Perugia, a university town about 185 km (115 miles) north of Rome.

The presiding judge in the case, Giancarlo Massei, barred cameras from the courtroom Friday morning after initial proceedings and said he could completely close portions of the trial dealing with the most graphic sexual assault allegations.

Kercher’s family requested the trial be held entirely before closed doors, an option Italian law allows in cases dealing with sexual assault. Prosecutors argued that the case should be kept open, but not televised.

The number of reporters forced court officials to seat some of them at the defense table at the start of the case.

Massei said he would allow a closed-circuit television feed into the court’s press room to let reporters who couldn’t get a seat watch proceedings — a feed that would be cut if the case is closed.

Pennsylvania Man Charged With Strangling Wife

ARNOLD, Pa. — A western Pennsylvania man who told police he found his wife unconscious at the bottom of some steps is charged with strangling her.

Westmoreland County detectives say 41-year-old David Clarke, of Arnold, killed his wife sometime Saturday morning.

Police say he called 911 about 8:30 a.m. and told them he found 40-year-old Doreena Clarke unresponsive.

But authorities say an autopsy Sunday showed the women died of asphyxiation from being strangled by hand. Police say the autopsy also uncovered other “injuries not consistent with a natural death.”

Clark has been jailed without bond since Monday night, but detectives didn’t announce his arrest until Tuesday. He faces a preliminary hearing on charges of criminal homicide and first-degree murder on Jan. 29.

Seattle police were investigating the stabbing of a Queen Anne woman Sunday and arrested her boyfriend.

Officers responded about 9:30 a.m. to an apartment where an attacker had slashed the woman’s throat and stabbed her, police said.

Before officers arrived, the woman made it to a hallway outside the apartment, but the attacker got her back inside, police said.

Officers forced their way in and took the victim into the hallway. They then re-entered and arrested the boyfriend, 30, who was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.

Mom, girl found murdered

The 3-year-old son of ex-Chicago Bull Eddy Curry was covered with blood when he was found near his dead mother — apparently from trying to get her to wake up.

The boy is believed to be the only survivor of a weekend shooting that killed his mother, Nova Henry, 24, and his 9-month-old sister, Ava.

Police had a man in custody Sunday whom they were planning to question about the murders. He was picked up Sunday at a Comfort Inn in Michigan City, Ind., said a Chicago Police source. The man had a romantic relationship with Nova Henry, the source said.

Investigators also are talking with the toddler to see if he can provide clues about the slayings.

“With such a young child, we are being cautious and sensitive,” Chicago Police spokeswoman Monique Bond said in an e-mail Sunday night.

A child psychologist was being used to gently probe the child’s memory, said Nova Henry’s grandfather, Wardell Luvert.

“Little by little, he’s saying things,” said Nova Henry’s great-aunt Dorothy Luvert.

Police said Curry is in no way implicated, and several relatives of Nova Henry said they suspect a former boyfriend, whom they described as a stalker. Detectives were looking for a “known acquaintance” of Nova Henry, Bond said.

Curry, 26, a center with the New York Knicks, was in Philadelphia with his team Saturday night.

About 6 p.m. Saturday, Nova’s mother found her daughter and her granddaughter, Ava, dead of several gunshots in a condo in the first block of West 15th Street, police said.

But the son Nova had with Curry was found unhurt nearby. Curry’s attorney, Kelly Saindon, confirmed the 3-year-old boy is Curry’s child. The boy’s name is Nehemiah, according to Nova’s step-uncle Tom Henry.

When Nova’s mother found the bodies, “the [3-year-old] baby was sitting on the couch, covered in blood,” said her great-aunt Dorothy Luvert. “He was alone. We don’t know for how long. All he’s doing is crying for his mama. That’s what’s killing me dead.”

The boy “had blood on him [from] trying to get his mama to wake up,” said Nova’s cousin Sharon Luvert.

Several family members said Nova was having problems with an ex-boyfriend.

“He said there was only one way out of this relationship,” said a relative who asked not to be identified.

Another relative, Rob Bryant, said Nova had a restraining order against the ex-boyfriend. “She was trying to avoid all this,” he said.

Police confirmed Nova had an order of protection and said they planned to question the target of that order. “There was an order of protection,” Deputy Police Supt. Steve Peterson said at a Sunday news conference. “Whether it was related to this case or not is yet to be seen.”

Dorothy Luvert said the ex-boyfriend did work for Nova as she sought to prove Ava’s paternity. Nova filed documents against Eddy Curry last September attempting to establish Ava’s parentage, court records show.

The ex-boyfriend has “been a stalker,” said Wardell Luvert. “He better turn himself in before I find him.”

Tom Henry said his family tried to protect Nova from the ex-boyfriend.

“My family was trying to hide her,” Tom Henry said. “This [man] was very unstable, had an anger problem. They were trying to hide her in a lot of places, near South Holland, too.”

“This guy was coming into the neighborhood, making threats, some pretty serious threats, and my brothers were watching over Nova. … He was dangerous. He sugared her [car's gas] tank. He made life threats.”

Saturday was the ex-boyfriend’s birthday, another relative said.

Curry and Nova both attended South Holland’s Thornwood High School.

Nova received a settlement from Curry last summer, Tom Henry said. Curry obtained a condominium for Nova and was displeased when the other man moved in with her, according to Tom Henry.

“It was a big bust-up,” he said. “The first baby was Curry’s, and I think the [other man] was trying to get a free ride.”

The condo where the bodies were found is not the condo purchased for her by Curry, he said.

There was no forced entry, and investigators are reviewing surveillance tapes, police said.

”She was living with her mom and sister, and I gather that’s why her mom found her,” Tom Henry said.

He called Nova a “beautiful girl. She tap-danced. She could have been in the movies. She had high hopes.”

“She was a good girl, a good mom,” Sharon Luvert said.

Curry recently has had injuries and legal problems. He was sued by a chauffeur who said Curry owed him money, sexually harassed him and insulted him with racist slurs. Curry and his lawyer denied it and said the man, a convicted felon, tried to get money from Curry’s associates.

Curry is in his eighth NBA season and fourth with the Knicks, but he has played in only one game this season because of knee injuries.

In 2007, Curry and fellow NBA star Antoine Walker were duct-taped and robbed by a crew of armed men who scoped out their posh homes –Curry’s in Burr Ridge and Walker’s in River North. Several men were later charged. The suspects studied their homes beforehand and targeted jewelry and valuables, police said at the time.

Curry is married with four children.

The Knicks issued a statement Sunday on his behalf asking for privacy. ”The Curry family is deeply saddened by this tragic loss and will keep the Henry family in their prayers,” the statement said.

LAPD: Dad in Family’s Murder-Suicide Awash in Debt

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Awash in debt, behind on his mortgage and recently fired from his job at a hospital, Ervin Lupoe was planning on leaving California. The 40-year-old father of five pulled his children out of school, packed his SUV with snow chains and winter clothing for him and his family and appeared ready for the trip to his brother-in-law’s home in Garden City, Kan.

It’s not yet known if he was planning on leaving for good in a bid to flee his mounting money problems or if the trip would have only been temporary.

Whatever his intention, Lupoe never got to Kansas.

Instead, police say, he shot his five children and wife to death before turning the gun on himself.

”Something happened in the last 48 hours that made him snap,” said Detective David Cortez of the Los Angeles police department, the lead investigator in the case. ”(He saw) no other way, no other direction.”

Investigators found evidence of spiraling financial woes, including a bounced check to the Internal Revenue Service. Lupoe owed at least $15,000, as well as thousands of dollars on a home equity line of credit.

He also was at least one month behind on a mortgage for his home in Wilmington, near the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, Cortez said.

But Cortez said it was Lupoe, not the stagnant state of the economy, that was to blame.
”Being there and walking through the crime scene, it’s a lot easier to see him as the suspect that did this to other people than the economy did this to him,” Cortez said. ”It’s how he chose to respond to the circumstances; he had options.”

Police found the bodies of Lupoe, his wife and five children Tuesday morning. The bodies of 2-year-old twin boys, Benjamin and Christian, were beside their dead mother, Ana. In another bedroom, the bodies of 5-year-old twin girls, Jaszmin and Jassely, and their 8-year-old sister Brittney lay on a mattress pad next to their lifeless father.

He appeared to have attempted to muffle the sound of gunfire by shooting a semiautomatic handgun through a pillow.

”It looked like they were all caught by surprise,” Cortez said.

Neighbors’ reports of firecracker sounds indicated the family might have been killed the evening before and Lupoe shot himself the next day, Cortez said.

Lupoe and his 38-year-old wife both were recently fired from their jobs as hospital technicians at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center West Los Angeles. They had lied about their income to try to get cheaper child care, Cortez said.

Lupoe phoned his brother-in-law Monday morning saying he was on his way to Kansas, Cortez said. Caesar Ramirez asked to speak to his sister but Lupoe declined. The next he heard from Lupoe was a phone call Tuesday morning saying he’d just killed his family and he left everything, including a small settlement from a traffic accident, to his brother-in-law.

Ramirez called Garden City police who contacted Los Angeles police, Garden City police Sgt. Michael Reagle said.

Lupoe had faxed a bitter, two-page letter to a local TV news station the morning he killed himself, saying a hospital administrator told him he ”should not even have bothered to come to work” and ”should have blown (his) brains out.”

Investigators interviewed the hospital administrator, who said Lupoe’s characterization of their conversation was an out-of-context misrepresentation and denied using the words Lupoe said she did.

In his letter, Lupoe went on to suggest it was his wife’s idea to end the family members’ lives.
”He had one of those victim mentalities,” Cortez said. ”There is nothing yet that suggests his wife was a willing party.”

A D.C. firefighter shot his former fiancee, also a D.C. firefighter, and her parents in their Prince George’s County home yesterday and then killed himself, law enforcement sources said.

The woman, identified as Jessica Wimbish, was hospitalized in critical condition, as was her mother, officials said. Her father was seriously wounded.

The gunman, Dante Paire, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 6700 block of Hastings Drive, just east of Seat Pleasant. County police were dispatched there shortly after 4 p.m. in response to reports of gunfire, said Officer Larry Johnson, a police spokesman.

Paire shot Wimbish, 25, in the stomach and chest, somehow missing a 2-year-old girl who was sitting on her lap, the sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing. One source said the girl is Wimbish’s daughter; it was not clear who her father is.

Paire, believed to be in his 20s, then shot Wimbish’s mother, Jennifer Wimbish, multiple times in the upper body as she and her husband fled, the source said. The husband was struck in the leg. His name could not be learned last night.

TOLEDO, Ohio – A man held a woman captive in handcuffs and an adult diaper for three days while he read Bible passages to her, police said.

Troy Brisport, 34, was charged with kidnapping and felonious assault. Bail was set Tuesday at $400,000.

He picked up the woman Wednesday night in Detroit after she told him she had nowhere to stay, and brought her to his home in Toledo, about 90 kilometres away, police said.

The woman told police that after she fell asleep Brisport handcuffed her wrists and ankles, gagged her, undressed her and put her in an adult diaper, then read Bible passages, said police Capt. Ray Carroll.

She apparently was not sexually assaulted, Carroll said.

However, court documents alleged that Brisport tried several times to suffocate the woman using a pillow and blanket.

The woman told police she escaped Saturday after Brisport fell asleep. Police found her dressed only in a T-shirt and the adult diaper and still wearing handcuffs.

There was no immediate response Tuesday to a call seeking comment from jail officials.

SEOUL (AFP) – A South Korean man who has admitted killing eight women since 2006 may have murdered others including his wife and mother-in-law, officials said Sunday.

Prosecutors said that Kang Ho-Sun, 38, was now accused of killing his spouse and her mother in a 2005 arson attack on their home, and would face extra charges of arson and parricide.

The blaze broke out a week after Kang bought several life insurance policies for his wife. Kang escaped the deadly fire at his home and received 480 million won (318,000 US dollars) from insurers.

Kang claims the fire was accidental.

Officials from the prosecutors’ office in the city of Suweon, just south of Seoul, also said they had secured DNA samples of two other women from a gardening hoe at Kang’s house, indicating there could be further charges.

Police first arrested Kang last month on suspicion of kidnapping and murdering a female university student. He later admitted killing eight women.

Despite a restraining order, a woman in the central Alberta town of Delburne has been killed in her home in a domestic dispute, say Mounties.

CNN) — Los Angeles police are searching for a serial killer dubbed the “Grim Sleeper,” who is thought to have killed 11 people.

The killer, who police say murdered from 1985 to 2007, was nicknamed the Grim Sleeper because he seemed to take a break between homicides, police said.

Authorities this week released a 9-1-1 tape recorded shortly after a killing in 1987, in the hope of producing clues.

“Yes … I’d like to report a murder,” an anonymous caller says on the tape. “The guy that dropped her off was driving a white and blue Dodge van. He threw her out. … He threw a gas tank on top of her. All that you can see sticking out is her feet.” Watch the hunt for a serial killer
Police found the scene just as the caller described and found the van. But they are still searching for the caller and members of the now-defunct church that owned the van.

The killer is wanted in 11 deaths and another homicide attempt, police say.

Detectives say they have the Grim Sleeper’s DNA, and a $500,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest and prosecution. The killer shot his victims, police said.

Police found five people, including two children, shot to death Sunday night in the townhouse.
A sixth person died overnight from gunshot wounds, said Lt. Phil Cooke of the Santa Clara Police Department.
A female remains in the hospital Monday in critical condition with gunshot wounds, Cooke said.
Police were called to the scene after a neighbor noticed an injured person outside the home around 8:30 p.m. (11:30 p.m. ET) Sunday, Cooke said. When police arrived, other victims were found inside.
The shootings are thought to be part of a murder-suicide, with the shooter believed to be one of the dead, according to Cooke.
The names of the victims are being withheld as the investigation continues.

Fort Worth Police say a two-year-old toddler was beaten to death by the man who was supposed to be caring for him.

On Sunday, Fort Worth Firefighters found Eba Chapple at his house in the 1300 block of Whittenburg.

Paramedics took him to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth. Doctors say he was covered in bruises and had severe injuries to his head and internal organs.

The boy died at the hospital.

The Henry Ford Community College campus in Dearborn, Michigan, was locked down after the shooting.

A man and woman were found dead in a classroom building on the campus of Henry Ford Community College, Dearborn Deputy Chief Gregg Brighton said.

Investigators believe the man shot the woman but would not provide further information, Brighton said.

Former U.S. soldier Steven Green has been convicted of raping and killing a 14-year-old Iraqi girl.

That’s what FBI agents said former U.S. soldier Steven Green told them nearly three years ago about accusations that he had raped a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and killed her and her family.
Green was found guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in Paducah of the crimes and could face the death penalty.

Green spoke as the agents and he drove from his grandmother’s home in Nebo, North Carolina, where he’d been arrested, to a detention center 45 minutes away in Asheville, North Carolina, authorities said.
According to court documents:
Green had taken his grandmother to dinner, and the two had plans for a movie. Agents asked the former Army private whether they could tell her the reason for his arrest. Green initially said yes, but changed his mind, not wanting to upset her. Agents let him smoke a few cigarettes before putting him in the car for the drive.
Without prompting, Green spoke.
“Knew you guys were coming,” he said.
It was June 30, 2006, a month and a half after his discharge from the military. Green was a former member of the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, based in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
The agents asked no questions. They listened as Green talked during the drive.

Young woman shot dead at party in Queens, NY
A woman was killed early Saturday when bullets flew at a house party in Queens – just months after she was wounded in another shooting at the same location, police and witnesses said.

Shante Graham, 22, was shot in the chest when two gunmen in a black Nissan drove up to the party in Saint Albans about 12:20 a.m. and opened fire.

“She was running back toward the house, and they shot her,” said Gavin Spence, 18, who saw the shooting at Nashville Ave. and 199th St. “She just fell to the ground.”

5 men charged with sex crimes against children

LEXINGTON, Mo. — Five members of a family are charged in Missouri with sex crimes against children, including allegations of bestiality and forcing an 11-year-old to have an abortion.

The five men arrested Tuesday are charged with several felonies, including forcible sodomy, rape with a child less than 12 years old and use of a child in a sexual performance.

A probable cause statement in the case says a child was forced to have sex with a dog and another had an abortion at age 11.

That victim came to the authorities in mid-August, telling investigators she had suppressed memories of the abuse. The probable cause statement says other children corroborated the claims of abuse by all five men.

The statement says victims were forced to take part in fake marriage ceremonies with several of their relatives.

Another bit of good news – a little dated – but in September, this loser Lenox Ramsay tried to shoot down his wife. He was not successful. She was shot about four times but miraculously escaped serious injury. One link gives a brutal description by eyewitnesses. Another refers to Ramsay’s cowardly cover up story that he was trying to defend himself and did not know he had shot his wife – who had moved out of their apartment a few days before he attacked her.

Here’s hoping for max penalties. He gave warning shots in the air to disperse the crowd before he shot her. While she was lying wounded on the ground, he shot her again. Attempted murder, surely. He is really young, so he needs to be in prison as long as possible to protect other potential victims.

Reports say the wife lived in fear for the last year of the marriage. Neighbors said he had “anger management” problems.

Marc Chivers, the killer, previously served a fifteen year sentence in Germany for killing a girlfriend there. The police had failed to take any action against Chivers just prior to Stubbings’ death, when she reported that she was in fear Chivers would kill her.

Fifty-one-year-old Eddy Tony Whisenhunt faces more than 18 years in prison when he is sentenced next month in Thurston County Superior Court after pleading guilty Thursday to three counts of first-degree child rape.

The Olympian reports Whisenhunt’s wife, Donna Marie, also faces child-rape charges.

Court papers say the abuse was discovered by a school counselor. The child was placed in the custody of Child Protective Services after the couple’s arrest in May.

Man wanted in Seattle double homicide arrested

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — Santa Cruz police are holding a Washington man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of his girlfriend and their 13-week-old daughter.

A police spokesman says officers arrested Daniel Thomas Hicks around 11 a.m. Monday after a phone trace indicated that Hicks might be in the area.

Because Hicks was believed to be armed, police cordoned off a section of a Santa Cruz street and alerted nearby businesses to shelter in place shortly before taking Hicks into custody.

The 29-year-old Hicks has been wanted since prosecutors in Kings County, Washington filed two counts of aggravated first-degree murder against him last week.

Hicks is accused of killing 28-year-old Jennifer Morgan and their baby, Emma.

One of the men charged with killing a woman in her bed told police his only regret was that he didn’t also succeed in killing her 11-year-old daughter, who was sleeping in the same room, according to police documents released Tuesday.

Christopher Gribble told police after his arrest he had wanted to kill someone for a long time and was disappointed he didn’t feel any emotion following the Oct. 4 killing of Kimberly Cates in her Mont Vernon home. Cates’ daughter, 11-year-old Jaimie, was injured during the attack.

“Gribble stated his only regret was he didn’t kill the child because she now had to live with this,” the documents said. “Gribble stated that if he realized she was alive he would have killed her.”
Five men, ages 18 to 20, were charged in connection with the early morning home invasion. Documents supporting the arrests of the four men accused of entering Cates’ home were released Tuesday after a request from The Associated Press and other media outlets.

The judge had refused to release the documents earlier, saying to do so could have revealed the scope and direction of the state’s investigation.

The killing stunned Mont Vernon, a rural town of about 2,000 residents near the Massachusetts border where the 42-year-old Cates worked as a nurse. A community group has been working on a strategy to help residents deal with the release of the court documents, with three public forums planned this month.

Gribble’s account provides a graphic description of what happened after he and three others entered the Cates home and found Kimberly Cates in her bed. Jaimie Cates was sleeping in the same room, although it was unclear if they were sleeping in the same bed. Kimberly Cates’ husband, David, was traveling.

Gribble, 20, told police he and longtime friend Steven Spader, 18, agreed they would break into the house and that if anyone was home “they would just kill the people in the home for fun,” the documents said. They shut off the electricity and lit their way through the home with an iPod.

Marie Oliver followed and grabbed hold of the back of the truck as the killer drove off. She was hanging on for several hundred feet. RIP Sarah Blackburn, beaten and stabbed and shot to death by her husband, Dr. Robert Blackburn, who ultimately shot himself to death. Two children are left behind and in the care of family members.

Blackburn called his office manager to the home (the kids weren’t there) to tell her that he had killed his wife after she had tried to stab him (he had a wound). The man was upset, reportedly, over the break up of the marriage. He fired his gun in his wife’s parents’ house multiple times and wounded his wife. He was shot as well during a struggle for the gun between the couple. The 17 year old helped Mom during this struggle, likely saving her life and others.

The man could face life in prison, which sounds like a fair punishment to me.

If anyone has doubts about Polanski’s crimes, here is the transcript with testimony from the victim and authorities. She was thirteen years old, lured by Polanski into believing the photos he was taking of her would be published, and she asked him to stop multiple times while he raped her. Polanski’s wife acts as if it was a free love seventies thing. I wonder what her story is.

According to articles last fall, the victim wants the case against Polanski dropped. My guess is that a non-disparagement (or even a non-cooperation) clause was part of the settlement she reached with him after she sued him in civil court for the rape. She says she has forgiven him and she wants others to as well. That’s noble, but even if he is forgiven for his crimes, he has failed to take responsibility for them: he’s hiding out like a coward in Switzerland while his arrogant friends in “the biz” act as if it was no big deal. The Swiss authorities have stalled on extradition.

Dr. Larry Blum testified the pattern of Savio’s injuries, the position in which her body was found and the scene of her death led him to rule out an accidental drowning due to a single fall.

But her body was exhumed Nov. 13, 2007, three weeks after Peterson’s fourth wife, Stacy, 23, vanished as that marriage crumbled. The former Bolingbrook police sergeant has not been charged, but authorities said he is the only suspect.

Blum testified at a Will County pretrial hearing to determine what hearsay evidence will be allowed at Peterson’s upcoming murder trial. The hearing, which has included testimony of 55 prosecution witnesses, may end next week.

As Blum detailed Savio’s injuries, Peterson focused intently on photos of her decomposed remains – which showed a gash on the back of her head, about a half-dozen small bruises, and several cuts and scratches along her extremities, abdominal area and buttocks. Peterson even changed chairs at the defense table to view the photos, shown on a television monitor turned away from the courtroom gallery of spectators.

Blum said Savio tested negative for drugs or alcohol. He did not find any medical reason to support the defense’s theory that she slipped and fell in the bathtub. In fact, Blum testified, it was his opinion that Savio’s head wound and her other injuries – sustained near the time of her death because there were no signs of healing – were inconsistent with a single fall. He noted internal bruising on Savio’s diaphragm consistent to a “bear hug.”

Despite defense attorney Joel Brodsky’s intense cross examination, a resolute Blum said he is “without doubt” that it would be impossible for Savio to suffer that pattern of injuries in a single fall.

“I’ve never seen that in 30 years,” testified Blum, who said he’s personally conducted 9,233 autopsies. Celebrity forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden reached a similar opinion in a third autopsy Savio’s family sought.”

RIP Acia and Sophia Johnson, 14 and 2 years old, sisters who died holding each other in a closet of a burning home. Their mother’s partner was convicted of second degree murder and setting the fire that caused their deaths. Defense counsel states that his client was the abused person in the relationship; prosecution said that Nicole set the fire in a fit of rage after progressively worsening conflict. Lippe must be guilty – his claim that he made up the confessions does not ring true. Read this two page article about this man, whose comments to his friend who was wearing a wire are chilling. Supposedly, he made up the story because he was frightened of this friend (and wanted to scare him I guess?), and his confessions to the police were to get them to leave him alone after they would not believe his story of innocence.

RIP Lisa Berrie, strangled to death in August 2008. Her boyfriend was convicted and sentenced last week to 25 years to life in prison. He is only 36 years old. He killed Lisa while her two young children were in the home. Her eight year old son read a statement in court at sentencing. The killer did not show any emotion.

RIP Mel Kernena Cotton, stabbed 100 times (30 in the back), and found dead tied up with a phone cord and duct tape in October 2003. Her ex-boyfriend is on trial for the murder and for stabbing Cotton’s five year old son, who is now eleven, and is expected to testify. The little boy was, according to defense counsel, stabbed accidentally. The first responder, a fire fighter, reported that he could see the child’s lung as a result of this “accidental” stabbing. Defense counsel raises the preposterous theory that the accused acted in self defense when Cotton pulled a knife on the killer when the man would not commit to her.

How this man acted in self-defense by killing her with 100 stab wounds and stabbing the child (who likely tried to defend his mother), is beyond my comprehension. The jury will no doubt see through this. The killer faces the death penalty.

RIP Dionne Bailey, Yanique Bailey, and Yolanne Bailey, found murdered yesterday in their home. Mark Bailey killed himself after killing his wife and his teenage daughters, according to authorities. He left a note, “I’m sorry, Love Mark.”

RIP Rajaan Bennett, eighteen years old, who was shot to death in his home by his mother’s ex-boyfriend, who had broken into the home. Younger sister Narcharlette, a middle schooler, quietly dialed 911 when she heard the break in. When the first responders arrived, they heard shots in the home.

Rajaan died protecting his mom and his younger siblings (there is another child in the house who is described in the article as disabled). Rajaan’s uncle was listed in critical condition because he too was shot by the killer, who then killed himself. Rajaan got more press than other kids who have been killed by boyfriends, ex-boyfriends, and fathers because he was a talented athlete who had signed on to play for Vanderbilt.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Authorities say a father has been arrested for investigation of attempted murder and torture after his two baby girls were found bound, gagged and left on a bedroom floor in Riverside County.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Brown says deputies responded to the home in the Indian Hills area Friday on a report of a family disturbance.

Brown says the infants, ages 1 1/2 and 18 weeks, also had visible injuries on their faces and heads.

Their father, 23-year-old Jeremiah Scott, had fled before deputies arrived, but was later found in the neighborhood and arrested.

Brown says the babies’ injuries did not appear to be life threatening and they were transported to a hospital for treatment.

Scott is being held on $1 million bail.

RIP Rhonda Wyatt, shot once in the head by her husband, who has a rap sheet of repeated domestic violence crimes for 20 years involving two other women in addition to Rhonda, who leaves behind three children, ages 15, 9 and 3. One of the children called 911 and requested police. A man is shrieking in the background of the recording of the call. Perhaps this is the child who witnessed the murder. All children were in the home when their mother was killed.
