“Now look, It’s all HER fault”

by murphy on October 15, 2012

in election 2012,Hillary Clinton,Madam Secretary

Apparently 3am phone calls to the White House are forwarded to Hillary’s cell. I don’t think hiding behind Hillary’s skirt is going to help the jackass out of this one. The tweets are pretty funny:

Arguendo: Hillary doing this give Mitt Romney a chance to chop off Obama’s head and kick it around like a soccer ball.

Somehow I don’t think Hillary taking fall makes obama look particularly presidential. It’s almost like a cowardly #WaronWomen. #Benghazi

Hi @BarackObama you came into office Blaming Bush and now you will leave office Blaming Hillary. A sad legacy of a POTUS who couldn’t lead

BREAKING: Hillary Clinton takes blame for Solyndra, Fast&Furious, Economy, Gas Prices, #RedSox Last Place Finish.#GoodFootSoldier

Hillary didn’t put Amb. Rice on 5 Sunday shows or instruct Carney to flog video. Obama still owns the cover up

Clinton’s announcement opens up several lines of attack for Romney to pursue at the debate tomorrow night, especially UN Amb Rice’s assertion that the White House “knew” the Benghazi attack was prompted by the stupid video. State has been clear that they told the WH within the first 24 hours that the attack had nothing whatsoever to do with the video. Clinton’s taking the blame for security failures in no way explains the political ass covering that the admin frantically tried to do in the week following 9/11/12.  Hillary may own a tragic mistake, but  obama owns a corrupt coverup.

Some Clinton fans may be angry and/or disappointed by Hil’s statements this evening. I’m counseling patience. At least until tomorrow night. After the debate we may see that Hillary is a crafty ole gal after all. Or as Jennifer Rubin on Twitter, said (I paraphrase),

“If Hillary had been Vice President, she would have won the debate, not lost women voters to Romney, and she would not now be able to set obama up to fail on Libya … Revenge is a dish best served cold.”

U.S. Rushes to Help Create Commando Force in Libya
By ERIC SCHMITT
WASHINGTON — The Pentagon and State Department are speeding up efforts to help the Libyan government create a commando force to combat Islamic extremists like the ones who killed the American ambassador in Libya last month and to help counter the country’s fractious militias, according to internal government documents.

The Obama administration retroactively quietly won Congress’s approval last month to shift about $8 million from Pentagon operations and counterterrorism aid budgeted for Pakistan to begin building an elite Libyan force over the next year that could ultimately number about 500 troops. American Special Operations forces could conduct much of the training, as they have with counterterrorism forces in Pakistan and Yemen, American officials said.

The effort to establish the new unit was already under way before the assault that killed Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans at the United States Mission in Benghazi, Libya. But the plan has taken on new urgency since then as the new civilian government in Tripoli tries to assert control over the country’s militant factions.

According to an unclassified internal State Department memo sent to Congress on Sept. 4, the plan’s goal is to enhance “Libya’s ability to combat and defend against threats from Al Qaeda and its affiliates.” A companion Pentagon document envisions that the Libyan commando force will “counter and defeat terrorist and violent extremist organizations.” Right now, Libya has no such capability, American officials said.”

All well and good, but it’s never a good idea to have foreign security forces guarding your embassies and consulates. There is way too much chance of infiltration by the enemy, as we have seen in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hillary Clinton shoring up the women’s vote for Obama!

3

Headclunker 10.15.12 at 9:42 pm

Looks like plenty of blame to go around and only one woman stepping up to own responsibility.

Obama is sooooooooooo chicken shit.

4

Headclunker 10.15.12 at 9:45 pm

Godzilla,

I don’t think so. What woman would vote for the empty suite that is leaving her out there to take the blame?

no way does Hillary’s statements help obama with women. I predict it will hurt him.

White House mulls how to strike over Libya attack

By KIMBERLY DOZIER and RUKMINI CALLIMACHI
Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House has put special operations strike forces on standby and moved drones into the skies above Africa, ready to strike militant targets from Libya to Mali – if investigators can find the al-Qaida-linked group responsible for the death of the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans in Libya.

7

murphy 10.15.12 at 9:54 pm

Headclunker 10.15.12 at 10:02 pm

Not as a quote, but CNN says:

Clinton said President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are not involved in security decisions.

???

I think CNN is taking some liberties with Hillary’s statement to give their fatted calf another free pass.

If you clink that first link in Murphy’s post, Hiding behind Hillary’s Skirt, don’t read the Hillary-hating comments if you’re a fan of Hillary’s.

Hillary did the right thing. She’s the Secretary of State. Benghazi happened on her watch. One of Hillary’s security experts denied extra security at Benghazi. Hillary did the right thing. It is what it is. Period.

13

Headclunker 10.15.12 at 10:06 pm

Fox is coming out big time, refusing to let Hillary accept responsibility of Oblowint and saying Oblowit has ultimate responsibility.

HC
Nah,Oblowit is only responsible for successes.

15

murphy 10.15.12 at 10:11 pm

dwp, right. Benghazi was a terrible mistake. Hillary is the first person in the admin to stand up and take responsibility without any attempt at covering her a**

the WH has been spinning like a top since 9/11/12

Should Hillary resign over this? Should Charlene Lamb be fired? Would Hillary resigning help or hurt obama politically?

16

freddiebrown 10.15.12 at 10:12 pm

I told you…the sack of poop always come out smelling like a bunch of roses…there is always some fall guy taking the heat for him somehow. As far as I know – Mr. The-Buck-Stops-Here, is only campaign fantasy – when real life rears its head, Mr. I-Am-Ball-less is missing in action.

17

DancesWithPumas 10.15.12 at 10:17 pm

The cover-up is interesting. Obama wanted to give an appearance that US Libyan policy was working and all was well and good, and going according to plan. I mean, after all, “bin laden is dead, gm is alive” right? “Bin Laden is supposed to be read a “al qaeda”. The Benghazi attacks speaks differently of obama’s policy, and the absurd idea that with bin laden gone, so goes al qaeda.

There’s plenty of speculation about the real reasons and timing of Ambassador Stevens’ trip to Benghazi. Some are saying it had to do with heading off an impending attack using US supplied armaments. The armaments angle would be an embarrassment to obama.

18

DancesWithPumas 10.15.12 at 10:21 pm

It’s too close to the end of the King’s term for Hillary to resign. If he steals another term, Rice is being pushed as his next Sec of State. Expect a train wreck. Altho, now that she’s involved in pushing the video excuse, that may not happen. Rice and her cousin, Condoleeza, sure have a lot in common, don’t they? Shilling for the twits they work for.

21

murphy 10.15.12 at 10:30 pm

via myiq2xu:

Sens. Lindsay Graham, Kelly Ayotte and John McCain released a statement tonight reacting to Clinton’s remarks:
“We have just learned that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has claimed full responsibility for any failure to secure our people and our Consulate in Benghazi prior to the attack of September 11, 2012. This is a laudable gesture, especially when the White House is trying to avoid any responsibility whatsoever.
“However, we must remember that the events of September 11 were preceded by an escalating pattern of attacks this year in Benghazi, including a bomb that was thrown into our Consulate in April, another explosive device that was detonated outside of our Consulate in June, and an assassination attempt on the British Ambassador. If the President was truly not aware of this rising threat level in Benghazi, then we have lost confidence in his national security team, whose responsibility it is to keep the President informed. But if the President was aware of these earlier attacks in Benghazi prior to the events of September 11, 2012, then he bears full responsibility for any security failures that occurred. The security of Americans serving our nation everywhere in the world is ultimately the job of the Commander-in-Chief. The buck stops there.
“Furthermore, there is the separate issue of the insistence by members of the Administration, including the President himself, that the attack in Benghazi was the result of a spontaneous demonstration triggered by a hateful video, long after it had become clear that the real cause was a terrorist attack. The President also bears responsibility for this portrayal of the attack, and we continue to believe that the American people deserve to know why the Administration acted as it did.”

22

murphy 10.15.12 at 10:34 pm

They really do love her. And by “love” I mean trust, admire, and respect. They are closing ranks around her.

26

“…then we have lost confidence in his national security team, whose responsibility it is to keep the President informed”

Then again, obama would have to actually attend the security briefings in order for them to inform him. It ALL comes back to obama.

27

freddiebrown 10.15.12 at 10:45 pm

Murphy, it also means that we don’t need a second in command fall guy. We want the Commander in Chief…the big enchilada. Nothing else would suffice. Sending Sec of State to the chopping board will not appease or suffice.

I hope the 18 Million Hillary supporters will turn against Obama for making her the fall guy… whether making is the correct term.

Hillary has a lot of respect even in the Republican or Fox arena.

Headclunker and Murphy, regarding my comment about Hillary’s announcement helping Obama with women, I was being sarcastic. I don’t think the timing of the announcement wasn’t by accident either. Hillary has upstaged Obama on the eve of the critical second debate. If the moderator brings up Libya at all (which I hoping she will but wouldn’t bet on it), Romney can just sit back and let Obama enfeeble himself even more. It’s one thing for Biden to plead ignorance…it’d be quite different for Obama to. I’m thinking that this announcement was payback.

Hillary compared to JFK on Morning Joe this morning.

“There has been a lot of back and forth about “Will Barack Obama Throw Hillary under the Bus over Benghazi?” or vice-versa this week .

It was quite a situation, If Obama threw Hillary under the bus would the Clintons work subrosa against him? (I maintain they already have been.) If Hillary threw Obama under the bus would the African-American community make her pay in 2016, it’s one thing for them to be pissed off at Obama, it’s quite another for some white lady to beat up on him.

What do you do? Well Hillary has threaded the needle in a way that accomplishes everything she needed to thus.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday tried to douse a political firestorm around the deadly assault on a U.S. diplomatic mission in Libya, saying she is responsible for the security of American diplomatic outposts.

“I take responsibility” for the protection of U.S. diplomats, Clinton said during a visit to Peru. But she said an investigation now under way will ultimately determine what happened in the attack that left four Americans dead.

The moment I heard this I had one thought: This is the move of a political master. Consider what this accomplishes:”

def worth the read.

63

murphy 10.16.12 at 8:05 am

from Ed Morrissey:

It’s a jaw-dropping display of a leadership vacuum, which Hillary ended up having to fill herself. This is exactly what Hillary warned voters about in 2008. The contrast between her moment of leadership in this crisis and Obama’s lack of leadership since the very beginning of it will not help Obama make the case for another four years of buck-passing at the top, not even when Obama showed leadership on the Nicki Minaj-Mariah Carey feud.

64

freespirit 10.16.12 at 9:34 am

I’m so glad to see Murphy’s article and the comments here – still standing firm when the shit hits the fan again, and the Obamacrats go after Hillary. If Axelrod and the rest of the Obama thuggery thought that Hillary’s actions would save Obama’s sorry a$$, they were deluded. Her display of courage and adulthood stands in stark contrast to Obama’s excuses and denial, and shows him to be the weasel we have known he was since 2008.

The Pubs are probably rushing to create an ad graphic of an empty chair hiding behind a skirt.

Thank you PUMA Pac, Big Pink, Still 4 Hill, and all of the other Hillary/PUMA blogs who continue to speak truth to the shit slingers.

For me it has the opposite effect than the ones they intend.
It highlights
1)the fact that there is no equivalent for males, and
2)that males on both/all sides are making decisions about women’s reproductive health and choices.

Campigning on this issue, among other positions on issues, dissuades me from voting for any / all of them.

You are right. It just pisses me off. I see men as seeing women as things to be controlled and manipulated… to serve and service men and too dumb to make decisions about their own reproductive rights or much else for that matter.

Agreed!
Although, I know there’s a percentage of men who are more evolved than the average male, and / or have daughters, and/or are in relationships with women, which forces them to acknowledge the capabilities of girls and women.

The rest seem to be weak, dull, defensive, threatened weenies who need to feel superior to others by degrading them and manufacturing and maintaining a system whereby they keep others down in the name of their false superiority.

Obama says he feels fabulous. I hope he remembers to take what Joe Biden took (the giggly stuff) and his yellow Big Bird costume. I think he will over compensate and Romney will look serious, determined and Presidential again.
****************

(CNN) – Hours before his second matchup with Mitt Romney, President Barack Obama told reporters his spirits were high going into Tuesday’s town hall-style presidential debate.

“I feel fabulous,” Obama said as he strolled through the Kingsmill resort in Williamsburg, Virginia, where he has spent the last three days preparing for Tuesday’s debate. The president was walking alongside David Plouffe, a White House adviser, and Anita Dunn, his former communications chief who is playing CNN chief political correspondent Candy Crowley, the debate’s moderator, in the president’s practice sessions.

“Behind every strong woman there’s Barack Obama.”

“Behind every strong woman there’s a cowering Barack Obama.”

COWERING is Right..He was asked today in his “I feel fabulous today” event “Is Hillary to blame?” He didn’t answer and he walked away. He was thinking all was “fabulous” this morning and Benghazi was over and done with when Hillary accepted responsibility. But NO ONE is buying the Buck stops with anyone but him rhetoric. We need answers and the death of 4 Americans blamed foolishly on a video no matter who accepts responsibility will not and should not be swept under Mr Fabulous bus. I delight in the fact that he is being hit hard on this issue and I delight even more in the fact that Hillary is being touted as Presidential and he is being called the fraud that everyone of us here knew he was. Take Down..Grab the Popcorn.

Gordana – I noticed that too. Numbering his plans. But Romney is talking about his Detroit bankrupt recommendation
