I love Big Bird

in election 2012

The twitterverse is hilarious this morning. I cant decide what my favorite Romney line from last night is, but “I love Big Bird” is vying with “I have no idea what you are talking about” for the top spot.

The Crawdad Hole has a roundup of the funnier tweets in comments. Iowahawk, of course, takes the cake: “From what I’ve been reading, the big winner last night was What Obama Should Have Said.” Also, check out CNN”s funniest tweets about the debate.

John Nolte predicts the media will want revenge for the big can of whoopass Romney opened on them last night. Yes, it wasn’t only obama’s ass that Romney kicked last night. He also gave a boot to the lapdog press who have been manipulating the outcome of this election for the past 3-4 months:

“We’ve all seen what’s happened month after month after month after month: Obama’s Media Palace Guards have assured us that Romney can do nothing right and Obama can do nothing wrong. This carefully crafted media game-plan (coordinated openly with the Obama campaign) was meant to strip Romney of the single quality voters demand in a president, and that’s competence.  If you’re not competent you’re not an acceptable alternative, which means we’re going to vote for “the devil we know.”

But last night all of this blew up in the media’s face, and this morning the American people trust the media even less than they did the night before — and for one very simple reason: they were lied to … again. Where was the bumbling, elitist, out of touch, awkward, wife-killing, gay-hating, corporate vulture who tortures dogs and stumbles through Europe like Chevy Chase in a “Vacation” sequel?

Well, he didn’t show up last night because that’s not who Mitt Romney is.”

““I’ve been in business for 25 years. I have no idea what you’re talking about. Maybe I need to get a new accountant, but the idea you get a break for shipping jobs overseas, is simply not the case.”

Effing brilliant.

White House Dossier agrees with me:

“I thought the most devastating quip in the debate was this from Romney:

You said you get a deduction for taking a plant overseas. Look, I’ve been in business for 25 years. I have no idea what you’re talking about. I maybe need to get a new accountant.

This line, which I’m sure was prepared in advance, said many things to viewers.

It conveyed a sense of competence and experience Obama cannot match. It announced the the country that a serious man was contending for the presidency.”

The debate was astounding. I knew Romney would do well and I knew Obama would do poorly, but the contrast was so dramatic, it was surprising. It’s actually a bit disturbing to realize that our president is even more incompetent then I thought and I had very low expectations to begin with.

I’m not sure what my favorite line was! There were so many. Every darn thing Romney said was devastating blow to President Obama, because President Obama doesn’t know what he’s talking about and doesn’t know that he doesn’t know. I think my favorite part was when President Obama said, where you put your money shows where your heart is. Obama said he wanted to put money into 100,000 new teachers. Romney was like, well then why haven’t you done it? The 9 billion you gave to failed green energy businesses was enough to hire 2 million teachers. Your heart wasn’t in hiring new teachers, it was in paying back your campaign donors. (That’s paraphrased by the way, not the exact quotes.)

That is the devastating truth about Obama, he’s full of empty words promising noble ideas, but he his heart is nowhere near what he’s saying.

Hello Murphy good to see you blogging.
I did not watch the debate. I could not go stand the Oblah… blah.
But I’ve been reading all the reviews and comments and it seems that the “Real” Barack Obama showed up for the debate.
I’m delighted that finally some of his BS personality is clearly coming out.
Four years ago in the primaries, UT at Austin held a debate between Obama and Hillary. The clear winner was Hillary and UT students endorsed her. Obama only repeated and affirmed everything Hillary addressed and responded. To me, that’s when he showed his true colors, lack of everything.
If I could get hold of the video of that debate and put side to side with last night, it will shed light that this man is been a “fraud: all along.

Yep. Now there is a big debate on cnn.com about Big Bird. Cry cry.
People don’t understand that we are no longer funding all these through tax payer money. The folks that are actually paying Fed. taxes, these taxes are not enough to fund all our country’s wants and needs. WE have to borrow from China….billions and trillions.

bellecat 10.04.12 at 1:15 pm

on Hillary is 44:
“Last night the country saw the Obama we saw in 2008″

yttik 10.04.12 at 2:02 pm

LOL, I don’t know why my post got tripled. Sorry!

Not only did I underestimate the power of the debate, I underestimated the capacity for stupidity in the media. Freddie is correct, they are now debating about whether or not Big Bird deserves to die. I can see the ads already, Romney wants to kill Big Bird.

Mitt Romney’s oldest son, Tagg, and I are about the same age (I cannot believe how GOOD both Mitt and Ann look for a couple in their mid 60′s, it is uncanny)

Tagg and I grew up on very far opposite sides of the tracks, but we do have this in common: we are the Sesame Street generation. Kids in their 20s now are the Harry Potter generation, but we were the FIRST to fall in love with Big Bird and Grover (my abs favorite!!!!) and Snufleupugus, Oscar the Grouch, Kermit THE Frog, etc etc etc.

I actually believe Romney when he said, “I love Big Bird” — I bet he does, because Big Bird and the rest are likely tied up in his memory with his children being small, especially his first born. I know that a lot of the love I feel for all things Harry Potter is tightly connected to my oldest’s love of the series. Harry Potter was something we did together when she was little, just like Sesame Street was something my parents, and the Romneys, did with their kids (every Dad I knew had an impression of the Count).

Sesame Street and the Childrens Televsion Workshop will be just FINE without taxpayer subsidies. It will make them more free. In fact, I’m going to go make a small donation.

Long winded way of saying I think Mitt Romney has a big enough brain to hold competing, complex thoughts at the same time (Sesame Street is good even if the govmt shouldnt be funding it)

14

murphy 10.04.12 at 3:09 pm

“Dear Ms. Murphy,

Thank you for helping Sesame Street reach children around the world!

Sesame Street has seen a lot of changes over forty years, and so have the rest of us. As we look forward to the next generation of memories, we want to look back with a special offer for you — a printable Sesame Family Timeline to show how your family has grown up with Sesame over the years.”

I am sharing this from one of the posters on cnn.com that was posted today
******

Obama Money
ROGULSKI: Why are you here?
BIG BIRD: To get some money.
ROGULSKI: What kind of money?
BIG BIRD: Obama money.
ROGULSKI: Where’s it coming from?
BIG BIRD: Obama.
ROGULSKI: And where did Obama get it?
BIG BIRD: I don’t know, his stash. I don’t know. (laughter) I don’t know where he got it from, but he givin’ it to us, to help us.
ELMO: And we love him.
BIG BIRD: We love him. That’s why we voted for him!
SEASAME STREET: (chanting) Obama! Obama! Obama! (laughing)

This coming from Al Gore is more than amazing….blame it on the altitude.
******

Former Vice President Al Gore’s analysis of President Barack Obama’s debate performance Wednesday: the Mile High City may be to blame.

Pundits and a CNN poll of those who watched the debate both found GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s showing to be stronger than Obama’s, who some described as appearing tired and long-winded.

“I’m going to say something controversial here,” Gore began. “Obama arrived in Denver at 2 pm today, just a few hours before the debate started. Romney did his debate prep in Denver.

“When you go to five thousand feet, and you only have a few hours to adjust, I don’t know,” Gore said, as other panelists in the post-debate discussion chimed in.

I am going to Shanghai in a couple of weeks…bringing my mother who is 95 this year. My first time there but I think her third visit. I want to see what the fastest growing economy and city is all about.

I know, deep inside I will feel that US is indebted to China – I don’t like it. I wonder what will happen if they suddenly call in their loans and stopped giving US loans.

Can’t wait for the foreign policy debates…I want to know why we are still giving Billions upon Billions to the Middle East – to make them like us – to make them not want to kill “us”. They will take our money from one hand and kill “us” with the other. To the Muslims, their only concern is to reach the afterlife…watch Dances video from 2 days ago.

Sorry, digressing from Big Birdie.

I bet Joe Biden is cramming now. He cannot rely on his usual rabid yelling to confuse and confound the people. His jugulars may pop this time.

Incidentally, I’ve been posting on the cnn.com : Where is Bill Clinton.Aren’t they done snickering at the anointed one’s performance ?

I think they don’t want any guilt by association. Smart Man.
No point associating with a losing horse.

Mr Tingle is busy trying to win the “post debate” for his man crush.

23

freddiebrown 10.04.12 at 7:00 pm

Yes, I started hearing his brave fighting words for Big Bird and had to turn it off before I puke. “Post Debate” is pandering to his adoring loving fans.
24 hours too late. Hell hath no fury like a mans balls crushed.

Hi! Yes, you were caught in the filter for some unknown reason. Your comments were freed!

26

freddiebrown 10.04.12 at 7:46 pm

Love it too !!!

Some of the mean talking heads are saying Obama wanted to look Presidential and didn’t want to attack. Is that code for in-competence.

Still waiting for Bill Clinton to come out and say something… His hands are still holding his face and his head is still shaking side to side.

27

Headclunker 10.04.12 at 7:59 pm

I think we should go around to the Bobots and ask them for links to any recordings of Romney saying he would be giving $5 Trillion in tax cuts to the rich.

Cape Hatteras 10.04.12 at 8:50 pm

Now that they are losing, I expect the Chicago gang to pull something low down and mean, if not violent. They have no shame. They have the chutzpah to do anything.

Obama made a lot of great points tonight. Unfortunately, most of them were for Romney — Bill Maher (@billmaher)
————
Scott: Do you think Obama will be better prepared for the next debate?
Sununu: “When you’re not that bright, you cannot get better prepared!”

30

freddiebrown 10.04.12 at 11:20 pm

Dances – # 29
Ouch, Ouch and double ouch.
Bill Maher and Sununu said that ?
Wow…

I see Obama back to his bombastic self with the crowds behind him cheering him on at every thing he says – today in Denver where the air according to Al Gore is detrimental to Obama, he’s been busy calling Romney a liar. Funny he could not rebutt last night cos he didn’t know how? I think he can only perform with a cheering crowd and only with one liners. Maybe a Pavlovian thing.

speaking of low-down, Hatteras, chicago-style posted, take it upstairs!

That is the devastating truth about Obama, he’s full of empty words promising noble ideas, but he his heart is nowhere near what he’s saying.

Well I have looked and looked and I do not think he has a HEART.
