theamericanway, I was horrified when my then 7 year old brilliant grandson told me he couldn’t pass out the Christmas presents because he couldn’t read cursive. I immediately bought workbooks. Four years later his penmanship, punctuation , and spelling are better than mine. I have him write the opening paragraphs of the classics as my birthday and xmas presents.

Afraid the burst may occur at a much lower ed level: heard on TV today (sorry no link) that several states are planning to cut the teaching of cursive writing from their curricula.
Of course, diminishing the lower ed level will guarantee failure at levels above.

One thing is for sure, forgeries will be much easier (prescriptions, contracts, checks); certain fonts will bite the dust, as will handwriting analysis; no one will be able to read documents in the original… the US Constitution comes to mind.

My own handwriting is a bit difficult for some to read so for ease of reading I am likely to print letters or cards to children and seniors. But, that’s a choice.

When BO spoke about doubling the Nations exports by 2014, the only way this could happen is by enacting policies that will be unfavorable for Main St.

1) Devalue the dollar = this would make the price of our exports affordable.

2) Lower worker wages = Union busting?

3) Fewer employees and more machine produced goods = less overhead, health ins and taxes.

On some days Michelle’s tummy is bigger than others (maybe when she picks up a few pounds) and I think that is when the pundits start claiming she’s pregnant, but I have no inside information on this and she may be. It seems a little late in life for her to have a baby, but there are menopausal babies.

Sigh,,, have to fly to NY on Thursday (again) and hoping flight is not cancelled or we’d be screwed (again). Had to scramble couple of weeks ago, NY show after flights to Atlanta was cancelled. Threw Fred into a rental van and drove from NY to Atlanta in the snow storm – 16 hours with lots of Starbucks coffee. Got there a day later than we needed to be but still better than being stuck in NY. Thank God for GPS !

Had absolutely nothing to complain about TSA because nothing was different and we were in 3 major cities. Sailed through all check points and Freds junk was not even patted down, much to his dissappointment. I did try to smuggle a bottle of water through but didn’t succeed this time.
