With all due respect, you are wrong about this one. Bristol Palin cannot dance, and it is devastating that she made the Top Three. This is a girl who has been at the bottom of the leader board each week. She has not had one 10 from the judges. The show has lost its credibility, and I think that is unfortunate.
To be clear, I am very devoted Hillary Clinton supporter. I did whatever I could to help her win the primary, and watched Obama and his team steal it from her. However, two wrongs do not make a right. Bristol Palin needs to lose tomorrow night, and the Dancing With The Stars show should never have been politicized in the first place.

Looks like I missed the fun last night with DWTS. When do they announce the winners? To katie1263 (if you’re new, welcome) shows like DWTS are not serious shows but are just opiates for the masses and the contestants are celebrities. If the winner is supposed to be the one who gets the most votes from the audience (I never watch these shows), then it is just a popularity contest and all cries that the best dancer should win are irrelevant. And, all cries that someone should not win because we find their politics, family, etc. distasteful are irrelevant, too. That this even upsets people is a sign of how shallow our times are now.

This has very little to do with Bristol Palin or her dance ability, at least in my opinion it doesn’t. The consequences of who wins the dwts contest are inconsequential. There’s a huge difference between DWTS and POTUS, as noted in Murphy’s post. The two are not equal.

Is entirely correct, yep that is me. I stand proudly here, doing exactly that. Yes, I will acknowledge a religion (and the RIGHT to follow that religion) who’s principles, customs, and beliefs are diametrically opposed to the principles, standards, and beliefs that I hold dear. THAT is what living in the land of the free REQUIRES.

We live by a system of laws, and I expect/demand those laws be enforced, what I do not believe in is the enforcement of beliefs. The only way this country works is to keep ALL religions out of our legal system, and to weed out those that are already there. I believe as strongly in the freedom from religion, as I do freedom of religion. Our laws MUST remain based on freedom, liberty, and equality for all and I will do my best to fight for ALL to be protected by those laws.

You see, you and I just disagree with exactly who the “enemy” is. The enemy in the airport situation are not the Muslims, it is the government. The Muslims are just as much victims of the government overreach as the rest of us are. And if we allow it, they will be victimized even more by the anger of those that see all this bullshit “security” as their fault.

The fault squarely lies with the government. IF the government was truly interested in “making us safe” they do the required changes that would actually provide the security we all seek.
First they would not spend hundreds of millions on computer enhanced strip search machines, in order to attempt to find a short cut to real security. They would not require the TSA agents to make the alternative to the scanners so very uncomfortable as to modify the behavior of the public into using the machines to justify their purchase. Instead of making a few people extremely wealthy by buying these machines, they would invest that money into actually providing security.
Real security would require paying those responsible for providing the security we seek, a living wage. If you want to recruit and retain quality people to actually take pride in the job of securing our airports and sky, you can not pay them like burger flippers. Instead, you pay them a living wage, you allow them to actually make a career out of protecting us. You screen them as you would an air marshal, in fact you make passenger screener an entry level position to be an air marshal. It would require continual training for such things are recognizing suspicious behavior, interview techniques etc. It would require access to intel from other government agencies,(no fly list, recent threat activity, contact with other airport security to learn from what other sites have seen etc. etc.) In short it would require leadership, commitment, and acknowledgment that short cuts don’t work, and pretending to secure, while making your buddy rich, and pretending to secure while violating civil liberties just doesn’t cut it anymore. The actual solution would allow this now dispirited and disrespected job, become a valued and respected career.

Fiscal Conservatives will tell me that all this would just cost too much, in this tough economic time… ok, then bring our troops home from the two wars that they are fighting that are not keeping us any safer, and draw the best and the brightest, retrain them, transfer them to homeland security, you have to pay them anyway.

The Government prefers to keep you scared, confused, angry at Muslims,(or at anyone other then them), and not using rational thought….. it makes you easier to control.

ACORN, once a powerful advocate for low-income and minority voters, shuttered its operations amid plummeting revenues in March, six months after conservative activists posing as a pimp and prostitute caught on video some of the group’s employees offering them tax advice.

But the group is still facing charges in Nevada on conspiracy to commit the crime of compensation for registration of voters.The trial, originally scheduled to begin Monday, has been postponed likely until next year.

Former workers across the country already are being punished for their criminal activities.

In Miami, seven former ACORN voter registration canvassers were convicted of “false swearing-in an election,” and sentenced to probation and community service and banned from participating in future political campaigns, according to court documents.

In Pennsylvania, six of seven former ACORN workers who were charged in an investigation were convicted of unsworn falsification and interference with election officials. Four have reached a plea agreement on reduced charges and will serve two years of probation. Cases against two others who entered pleas to reduced charges are pending.

Charges against the seventh, Eric Jordan, are not being prosecuted because Jordan has pleaded guilty to much more serious charges, including aggravated assault, resisting arrest and carrying firearms without a license.

In Milwaukee, three former ACORN workers have been convicted of election fraud.

Last week, Kevin Clancy was sentenced to 10 months in prison for his role in submitting falsified voter registration forms before the 2008 election. Clancy will start his sentence once he finishes another sentence he is currently serving for armed robbery.

Clancy’s co-worker, Maria Miles, who pleaded guilty to election fraud in August, will be sentenced on Dec. 6.

In September, Frank Walton pleaded guilty to submitting 54 fake voter registrations during the 2008 presidential campaign. He faces up to 42 months in prison and a $10,000 fine when he’s sentenced Dec. 6.

In Washington state, Kendra Lynn Thill was convicted in March of voter registration fraud in the 2006 midterm election. In Nevada, a former ACORN supervisor pleaded the equivalent of a no-contest in a case alleging that canvassers were illegally paid to register voters during the 2008 campaign. But while Amy Busefink’s plea acknowledges the state had evidence for a conviction at trial, her lawyer said she still plans to challenge the constitutionality of the state law prohibiting paying canvassers based on the number of voter registration forms they turn in.
