President Obama Heads into Midterms at Lowest Approval Rating of PresidencyTwo-thirds of Americans believe country going off on the wrong track
NEW YORK , N.Y. – October 25, 2010 – President Obama is spending the next week crisscrossing the country in support of Democratic candidates before this year’s midterm elections. While the president may do a great job of energizing the base, he may not be able to convert any Independents who have yet to decide for whom they will vote. Currently, two-thirds of Americans (67%) have a negative opinion of the job President Obama is doing while just over one-third (37%) have a positive opinion. This continues the president’s downward trend and he is now at the lowest job approval rating of his presidency.

These are some of the results of The Harris Poll of 3,084 adults surveyed online between October 11 and 18, 2010 by Harris Interactive.

It’s perhaps not surprising that nine in ten Republicans (90%) and Conservatives (89%) give the job the president is doing negative ratings. What may be surprising is that one-third of Democrats (34%) and Liberals (33%) also give him negative ratings, as do seven in ten Independents (70%) and six in ten Moderates (60%).

Americans who give the president the highest positive ratings are those with a post-graduate education (48%), a college education (47%), and those living in the West (42%). On the other end of the spectrum, almost three-quarters of those with a high school education or less (72%) and two thirds of Midwesterners (66%) and Southerners (66%) give the President negative marks on his overall job.

While the president is at a low point, there is a political body with ratings much lower than his. Just one in ten Americans (11%) give Congress positive ratings on the job they are doing while nine in ten (89%) give them negative marks. While Congress may be under Democratic control, even four in five Democrats (81%) give them negative ratings.

Part of this negativity may have to do with the way Americans believe the country as a whole is going. Just one-third of U.S. adults (34%) say the country is going in the right direction while two-thirds (66%) say it is going off on the wrong track. While not close to the low it was before the 2008 election (11% said things were going in the right direction), this is one of the lower points of this year.

So What?

How this unhappiness with Congress, President Obama and the way things in the country are going translates into voting behavior on November 2 nd is still slightly unknown. Momentum seems to be in the Republicans’ favor for Congress (at least for the House of Representatives) but what still remains to be seen is if it is just an anti-Democrat year or an anti-incumbent year.

Un-freaking-believable

http://www.conservatives4palin.com/2010/10/democrat-party-asks-pentagon-to-assist.html

“The Democratic National Committee formally has asked the Pentagon for reams of correspondence between military agencies and nine potential Republican presidential candidates, a clear indication that Democrats are building opposition-research files on specific 2012 contenders even before the midterm elections.

An internal Army e-mail obtained by ABC News indicates that the DNC has filed Freedom of Information Act requests for “any and all records of communication” between Army departments and agencies and each of the nine Republicans — all of whom are widely mentioned as possible challengers to President Obama.

The agencies are asked to respond to the request by this Friday, just four days before Election Day.

The nine Republicans that Democrats are seeking information on are former Gov. Sarah Palin, R-Alaska; former Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Mass.; Gov. Haley Barbour, R-Miss.; Gov. Tim Pawlenty, R-Minn.; former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark.; former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, R-Ga.; Sen. John Thune, R-S.D.; Gov. Mitch Daniels, R-Ind.; Gov. Bobby Jindal, R-La.”

LoL! Jon Stewart is too much!

For Obama, election politics no laughing matter

By DARLENE SUPERVILLE, Associated Press Darlene Superville,

.WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama apparently thinks politics is no laughing matter, even when he’s staring down a comedian. Obama barely cracked any jokes during an appearance Wednesday on “The Daily Show” despite host Jon Stewart’s attempts to draw out the president’s humorous side with a few of his own snarky wisecracks.
:::snip:::

Stewart poked at Obama for saying during the presidential campaign that “we are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”

“So here you are, you’re two years into your administration and the question that arises in my mind: Are we the people we were waiting for or does it turn out those people are still out there and we don’t have their number?” the comedian intoned, suggesting that someone in the White House needs to call them up.

There was even more laughter when Obama used a now-notorious Washington phrase to defend Lawrence Summers, a top economic adviser who is leaving the administration at the end of the year. Stewart reminded Obama that he’d once said that different results won’t come from the same people. Then Obama hired Summers, who had served in the Clinton administration.

Obama said Summers “did a heck of a job,” to which Stewart said, “You don’t want to use that phrase, dude.”

I was watching Anderson Cooper on “Keeping them Honest”. It seems CNN is talking about a few Democrats are forming fake Tea Party groups and run as candidates. Incredible reportage coming from CNN. There is a guy that he is hammering that was a Democrat now turned Tea Party candidate…CNN is asking if these fakes are going to take votes from Republicans to benefit the Democrats. This faker sounds like a real moron and looks like one too. I can’t believe that some Democrats will stoop so low… and if CNN is digging this up, it really makes one wonder.

Hillaryis44 (October 27th column) has a video of a Today Show interview with Frank Caprio on his ‘shove it’ remarks aimed at Obama. Meredith Viera hammers him over and over with relentless questions about his remark to Obama. She even brings up the fact that Caprio supported Hillary Clinton in 2008 like it was a bad thing. He stays calm and focused but the Today Show once again crosses the line in support of Obama.

Bill Stands Up for Florida

Bill Clinton has asked the Democratic candidate Kendrick Meeks to drop out of the senate race in favor of independent Charlie Crist. A former Repub, Charlie is up against Republican wingnut Marco Rubio. Meeks is significantly trailing Crist and Rubio and was initially receptive to dropping out. He has since changed his mind and does not want to be known as a quitter.

Scarier in Florida is the Governors race with creepy Republican wingnut Rick Scott in a dead heat with Alex Sink. She was a late addition as a Democratic Superdelegate in the 2008 Primary. She did not pledge her vote until after Hillary suspended her campaign. She has distanced herself from BO as much as possible during her campaign. He opponents use anything she said in support of him against her. And that does not seem to be much of substance. I sure hope she is not an Obot because I like her.

I am sure not going to vote for Scott. He has been involved in Medicaid fraud and his campaign slogan is “Let’s get to work!”

Like the stupid wingnut does not know that there is plenty of work. Getting paid is the problem.

Here I was minding my own business playing a game on MSN Games, when an ad came up on the side of the screen. It was a picture of “O”, what caught my attention was the wording “Stand up for Obama”.

Curiosity peaked I tried to search the PAC name up and had no returns. So, I bravely clicked on the ad. They were very clever, the ad is paid for by “Million More Voters” which clicked thru to page called “A Better California” which is a project of the California Labor Federation. It says “Stand up for Obama and vote for Jerry Brown” Gaaaaaaaag!

Dirty tricks against Bill Clinton in the Meeks episode?

MIAMI – Florida’s three-way Senate race grew testier Friday as the last-place Democratic candidate denied claims that former President Bill Clinton had advised him to drop out, saying the idea came instead from his independent rival, Gov. Charlie Crist.

Rep. Kendrick Meek went on national morning TV news shows to swat down reports that he had told Clinton, who was campaigning for Meek, that he would drop out to improve Crist’s chances of defeating the front-runner, Republican Marco Rubio. Crist left the GOP to run as an independent after Rubio led him before the Republican primary.

Meek said it was Crist who had suggested the idea to Meek. He said Crist had also called Clinton’s office “trying to persuade them to get me out of this race.”

“Gov. Crist talked to me about getting out of the race. I recommended to the governor that he should consider getting out of the race,” Meek said on CNN’s “American Morning.”

Crist’s spokesman did not immediately respond to e-mails seeking comment.

Meek said he had talked with Clinton about the idea while the president was campaigning for Meek. He said Clinton privately asked him about rumors that he would quit the campaign.

“I told him I didn’t have any thoughts about getting out of the race. He didn’t encourage me to get out of the race,” Meek said on ABC’s “Good Morning America”.

This quots from cnn.com while the nytimes is still going on presenting the untruth as truth. Must be payback for the caprio shove it campaigning Bill is engaged in.

‎”He never asked me to get out of the race. I never told him I was getting out of the race,” Meek said, referring to Clinton. “Gov. Crist talked to me about getting out of the race. I recommend to the governor that he should consider getting out of the race.” Michael Steele, opposition GOP chair, released a statement about the racial overtones of this….and of course, some Dems over react toward Clinton (shades of 2008). Meeks corrects the record in the article:
Meek says Crist tried to talk him into quitting Senate bid

http://www.cnn.com

44

BigCatLover 10.29.10 at 10:08 am

Fox News reporting that Clinton aide is confirming that Bill did not ask Meeks to bow out, but merely mentioned that if he did, Crist would be in a better position to beat Rubio. Clinton did not encourage him to leave the race.

45

BigCatLover 10.29.10 at 10:12 am

Clinton aide also says it was the worse kept secret in the world that the White House wanted Meeks to leave the race (Fox News). WH denying that Obama has anything to do with this. Crist reportedly agreed to caucus with the dems if he won the Senate seat and Crist said he talked to the WH about this but would not reveal who he talked to.

Let’s hear Steele yammer about racial overtones of this now.

47

Pretty sleazy to try to blame this on the Clintons again so Obama can pretend he’s not racist.

48

DancesWithPumas 10.29.10 at 10:33 am

Meeks has 19% of the vote. The race is really between Crist and Rubio (12 pts apart).

Suspicious packages are being reported in several locations and the news is speculatig if this is a test, a dry run or something else. UPS plane from Yemen is grounded in Phillie, a package was found outside a building in Portland, Maine and now one in New York City (Fox News). The packages resemble a clear cartridge with wires sticking out of it. There may also be one in Britain.

Look for “fun and entertainment without tearing people down and,” she stresses, “calling them bitches.”
Not exactly an outright ban on the b-word — but close.

The network launches in January. And she says that despite her success, leaving her talk show to “start out on this next chapter” will still be difficult.
“I know there’s going to be some stumbles,” she said at the event. “I know I’m a work in process and progress. I know nothing new is perfect, but I’m not scared. I’m not afraid.”

Justice Department to Send Election Observers to Arizona as Concern Rises About Illegal Voters

The Justice Department is sending a small pack of election observers to Arizona as Hispanic groups sound the alarm over an anti-illegal immigration group’s mass e-mail seeking to recruit Election Day volunteers to help block illegal immigrants from voting.

Hispanic voting rights groups say the e-mail is just an attempt to intimidate minority voters. But election fraud monitors say that there are hundreds of examples of duplicate registrations, wrong information and past unregistered voters getting ballots.
