The liberal tax revolt, as the Wall Street Journal is calling it, is a very important topic — especially for investors and small-business entrepreneurs. And for new jobs.

The so-called revolt is comprised of three Democratic senators: Kent Conrad, Evan Bayh, and Ben Nelson. They want to extend all the Bush tax cuts. That includes taxes on the wealthy, or the top personal tax rate, the investment taxes on capital gains and dividends, and the estate tax.

So is this revolt a game-changer, or merely wishful thinking?

With a strong pushback against the revolt by President Obama, Treasury man Tim Geithner, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, right now it looks like wishful thinking. But with Democrats getting badly paddled in various polls, you never know.

Yes and that’s the point I was making yesterday when I mentioned that I was reading a book on the lies that were told over the years after Jesus’ time to increase the hold of the Catholic Church at it’s beginning. Reporter on Fox News is saying the Prosecution’s closing argument in the Blago trial is so boring and they seem to be arguing that talking is a crime. She says everyone is complaining about the bland arguments they are making (and Fox has been all over Blago so I don’t think they are shading it his way). I still suspect that the WH made a deal with Blago to shut up and they would make this charge go away. Just my feeling.

I wish I could remember many of the specific examples of how the media during Gee Dubya’s first term simply “reported” WH press releases verbatim…sometimes even before the event had happened! Two I do recall —- one was the fake “impromptu” visit to one of the memorials, where they kicked out the tourists, the Americans who were there visiting, and brought in prescreened tourists for GW to “spontaneously” greet…and the other was a store opening in the midwest. Oh, wait…I remember a third one. GW went to a manufacturing plant. And the lapdog press dutifully took pictures of him with the workers in front of a backdrop of crates which read “Made in America.” Actually, they were made elsewhere and the Bush team created a *facade* to prop up in front of the real crates, so that the media would show him in front of the bogus “made in the US” facade.

The only reason I was glad GW spent so much time in Crawford is that the lap dog media elite WHINED about being bored and hot, and they SO deserved it.

So many more incidents were covered by the brilliant but now defunct “mediawhoresonline.com”

IMHO – and it is cynical, both parties have been doing the same shannigans for years, I would even hazard a guess that it could be as long as a century.

You have mentioned that the parties in existence need to be fixed, I would go as far as to say, it’s not the parties it’s the entire political spectrum, including the 4th estate of Media.

And if they want to “disappear” your message, they simply don’t even cover the protests. Really, we should be keeping up with the times. We should show up to things like sporting events with signs that perhaps list a website or two. Some people would be curious enough to look.

My contention all along, from before 2000, was that it’s the MEDIA we need to regain control of.

And I meant to add, dsue, no….I don’t think we were “taken over” in 2000, but I think the elite correctly feared losing a lot of ground they’d never regain if they didn’t change the course we were on, and so they upped their game. They were actually nervous during the election aftermath, but once the public settled down, we were lost. They knew they could continue to manipulate us to no end, and proved it over and over again, most emphatically again in 2008.

I went to a reading tonight. An older guy read a poem of praise to Sarah Palin and probably because of his age, people were polite, but later on a young woman got up and before reading her poem went on a long insane tirade against Sarah Palin. When she started rattling off crap about how Alaska has the highest suicide rate (as if, even if true, it were somehow SARAH’s fault???) I finally snapped and asked, “do you have a poem?” and she moved on to her poetry.

Honestly, people are so indoctrinated, it’s hard to even know where to begin to detox them.

Ezra Klein has already been caught in a bald-faced lie about his discretion in picking members; and the notion that this was simply a water-cooler collection of journalistic thoughts is also belied by the emails now published by the Daily Caller.

The video is of such poor sound quality and the face in such a deep shadow that it’s risky to assume those are the exact words coming from the face in shadow are truly what the speaker is saying. The caucus system helps the party. If they deem some candidate is preferable to the one voters are leaning towards, the party can finagle the nomination. The caucuses are the party’s safety net.

to clarify, that is the MEANS available to us. I wasn’t praising them as perfected, but good luck to any of us to examine, retool, and utilize our strongest means to field candidates if we, and the media, won’t spotlight primaries as the voters’ unsung weapon.

Dismissing the primaries, instead of fixing them, and using them, ensures the continuance of selection over election.

CT Dem voters almost set us that example, by electing Lamont as a means to oust Liebermann. Liebermann still managed an end run around them, and I don’t live in CT, but if I did, you can be sure I would be advocating to close that loophole. But for most of those voters, I’m sure they’re simply demoralized and threw their own tool down in disgust.

“Oh, boo-hoo, the parties game the primaries, I know what….let’s form a BRAND ‘new’ party! One that will angelically never game the system once we put them in power.” Not really a solution!

But for the status quo incumbents, disillusioned voters work interchangeably as well as uninformed voters. That’s why media and information is the key to change. People can’t clamor to end caucuses if they don’t even know what happened. In fact, a Florida Dem congressman planned to forward a new law reforming primaries, and apparently it got no notice, no traction…not even from those of us who knew what’s at stake. That threat was silenced.

It’s human nature for rascals in power to game whatever system we expend our blood and sweat to come up with. We have to use the tools we have, and what we could use most of all are the airwaves that have been hijacked from us.

That current case in point: for whatever reason, the MSM decided the Tea Party was the flavor of the day and gave them lots of attention. Result? Lots of people joined in on the fun… enough to influence actual elections. Not by inventing a brand new “third” party, but by running candidates in one of the existing party’s primaries.

And there’s the formula: media plus primaries. Simple, huh?
