OILBAMA-PALOOZA: The Corruption Gusher Trial Of Rod Blagojevich And The Anniversary Of Titanic Hubris
Let’s call it OilBama-Palooza!
Today David Broder wrote “There isn’t a name for it that has become part of the popular culture.” Broder meant the crude horror wafting towards mainland America is without a name. But the entire Obama slip and slide clown circus of corruption needs a name. Let’s call it OilBama-Palooza! The slimy worst is yet to come!

— Valliere: Barack Obama, One-Term President?
For the first time since Barack Obama’s inauguration 16 months ago, we’re beginning to think there’s a reasonable chance he’ll be just a one-term president.Even though the economy is enjoying a modest recovery, there are three compelling factors that are making us think Obama is in serious trouble in 2012:
He has a tin ear:
The press has turned:
The Electoral College map has shifted dramatically:
This means several other states could make the difference:

HillaryIs44 nails it.

Obama needs to plug the damn hole. It’s a huge disaster. Oh, and the one in the Gulf needs to be plugged to.

These guys say they can plug it: http://nmwebtech.com/stop-gom-oil-leak.html

These guys say they can clean it up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VfypUzx1tI&feature=player_embedded&yes=yes

So why can’t this huge Corporation and the BO Administration do something effective?

The birds drenched in oil says it all – I can’t post the link – it’s too damned gut-wrenching.

His failed administration says it all. We’re in deep sh!t.

Remember? Last week there was speculation that there were more and/or worse leaks than being reported. There was and the Government was keeping the evidence from the public.

BP and Feds Withheld Videos Showing Massive Scope of Oil Spill
Coast Guard Told Public Not to ‘Fixate’ On Rate of Spill While Sitting On Video

By BRIAN ROSS, MATTHEW MOSK, and AVNI PATEL | June 3, 2010

New videos show more clearly than ever how BP, with little resistance from the Coast Guard or other federal agencies, kept the public in the dark about just how bad things were beneath the surface of the Gulf of Mexico.

On May 1, 11 days after the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, and nine days after oil began spilling into the Gulf, the Coast Guard had still only released a single image of oil leaking a mile beneath the surface — a fuzzy photograph of a broken pipe spewing oil.

But inside the unified command center, where BP and federal agencies were orchestrating the spill response, video monitors had already displayed hours of footage they did not make public. The images showed a far more dire situation unfolding underwater. The footage filmed by submarines showed three separate leaks, including one that was unleashing a torrent of oil into the Gulf.

BP officials said they made all the video available to federal officials.

“The video has been available to the unified command from the very beginning,” said Mark Proegler, a BP spokesman. “It’s always been here from the beginning. They had it.” (emp added)

Did anyone know that “O” and the Admin follow how he is doing in the Middle East?

Muslim praise for Obama dries up a year after Cairo speech

——snip

Gallup surveys conducted between February and April of this year showed a dramatic decline in Arab countries’ approval ratings of the U.S. administration. In Egypt , where he delivered the speech, the poll showed that Obama’s popularity dropped by 18 percentage points. While some Middle Easterners said it was unfair to judge the president so early on issues that have persisted for decades, others said they definitely expected more in the year since his oratory olive branch to Muslims.

“There were a lot of illusions about Obama because he has African and Muslim roots,” said Aya Mahmoud , 22, a student at Cairo University . “Turns out the speech was all just hype.”
———————-snip

Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes told McClatchy that roughly once a month, Obama also asks his staff specifically for Cairo updates, to monitor progress.

“He said, ‘I want to make sure that I’m keeping promises I made in this speech.’ He’s said that to me, to several of us, repeatedly,” Rhodes said. “He knew this would raise expectations and an ambitious series of goals. We knew what we were getting into.”

Both Obama and Islam Suck.

Let it Be

The Beatles (Lennon/McCartney)

From the album Let It Be

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be. Yeah
There will be an answer, let it be.

And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be

I have been crying just thinking
About what must be happening to our precious life there
I guess seeing photos of just confirmed the horror.
In Florida I lived high above the ocean and one of the most incredible blessings was being able to look
down into the ocean, I could see sting rays, sharks,
Thousands of fish, egrets,Pelicans I watched turtles hatch and swim out to the ocean.
I’ve seen eagles in the everglades, alligators and their young in the magnificent everglades and truly
My heart breaks at the thought of them
Covered in black oil and I, we are helpless.
God find an answer soon.

The massive oil spill in the Gulf is growing even larger, and as BP tries yet another technique to cap the flow, Americans are getting more frustrated and angry. On a scale of 1-5, how angry and frustrated are you?

The Truth in Pictures

We knew what was happening. My thoughts were “seeing” the reality of what BP and the Government were hiding.

The pictures of oil-drenched birds? I wasn’t prepared.

My mind could not calculate what the saturation level actually was of millions of gallons of crude oil pouring each day into the gulf.

I now know – by the pictures of oil-drenched birds. The moment-to-moment suffering of life is as unfathomable as the damage to our planet.

THE CORPORATE BEAST IS AMONGST US
FEEDING AT WILL
A LICENSE TO KILL
COURTESY OF THEIR PARTNERS IN CRIME – THE GOVERNMENT.

30

wontbackdown 06.04.10 at 10:57 am

I will no longer call this event an “Oil Spill.”

It is a “Crime Against Humanity” of epic proportions – committed by Transocean, British Petroleum and their Governments in charge of regulating – protecting humanity – from their power of greed to do Humanity irreparable harm.

31

michelina 06.04.10 at 10:58 am

WBD: I’m reading in the comments if the drilling was alot
closer to shore (shallow water)—this wouldn’t be such
a disaster—-is that anyone on this earth that is the
truth—could they have contained it alot easier?

32

michelina 06.04.10 at 10:58 am

sorry: is that anyway possible to be true—about the
shallow (depth)—of the water and drilling.

gotta read before I submit.

33

Delle 06.04.10 at 11:09 am

michelina – I’ve heard that several times. It seems to be true. The pressure beneath the water at 5000 ft is just too great.

34

wontbackdown 06.04.10 at 11:31 am

Dances – can you put that dying, sludge-drenched gull on Obama’s head, a smiling head shot, with the sludge dripping down his smiling face?

As a perfect symbol of his leadership, the caption should read:

“I’m still your savior – Hope and Change dipped in chocolate, anyone?”

35

FLBarbara 06.04.10 at 11:39 am

Yes, 5000 feet is unreachable by
Human Beings, Obama knew that, or maybe the teleprompter was the one that knew that, but he did read that fact in his
Oil Speech the other day.
I have been asking the question IF they knew that WHY was drilling allowed
at 5,000 feet without a plan to be able to stop the flow?
Why did NO one ask how the hell will you plug the hole you made in the center
Of the earth to prevent a catastrophe?

36

michelina 06.04.10 at 11:49 am

FLBARB: It just doesn’t MAKE sense.

It’s NOT SAFER, It cannot possibly be CHEAPER,
and I’m sure the environmentalist had something to
say—but the RISK was too GREAT at this DEPTH,

Are they this fucking STUPID——that they could cause
such a nightmare without the means to STOP IT—they had
the MONEY the MEANS the proper info.

They should ALL GO DOWN for this, NO Prisoners TAKEN—–
at this point I WILL VOTE for ANYONE who is not this admin.
AS GOD as I’m alive——I’ve so thoroughly disgusted at their
Greed, incompetence, ignorance and f**cking STUPIDITY—-there’s
nothing more or less to call it——–It’s about being STUPID,
STUPIDS——–God I cannot STAND THIS ADMIN–and I thought I
couldn’t stand BUSH—-they’re are all NO F**CKING GOOD !!

37

BigCatLover 06.04.10 at 11:55 am

I can’t bear to look at the pictures of the oil and goo covered animals again. It is sickening. How about a prowl to Congress to pass a bill requiring criminal charges for the heads of the companies causing these manmade environmental disasters, effective to the beginning of 2010? Let the high profile Gulf pundits and politicians demand some action like Carville is doing. Enough with the party line and the corporate lobbyists silencing everyone.

38

FLBarbara 06.04.10 at 12:01 pm

While oil spews at a rate of nearly a million gallons a day causing Death and destruction on the gulf coast, our POTUS
Spent 3 hours on the gulf coast and 8 hours on the golf course.

Exhausted from gulfing and golfing. He rested in Chicago, where the oil spill is not “urgent and returned to Washington in time to host his Wednesday Night Weirdness, whereas he invites and entertains “ordinary citizens” at the White House. This weeks ordinary citizen was Paul McCartney.

Filming of the movie Paul’s new VBF POTUS begins the moment plugging the hole is no longer urgent.

Dances,

HOPE the Oil Stops.

39

Maybe both, ARROGANT and GREED.

40

wontbackdown 06.04.10 at 12:09 pm

FLBarbara 06.04.10 at 11:39 am: #35

“Why did NO one ask how the hell will you plug the hole you made in the center Of the earth to prevent a catastrophe?”

They did Barbara. The government calls it “Regulation.” Transocean and BP have fought Regulation all along the way – and won – by means of political powers favors – via becoming the largest oil-industry political campaign donors.

41

wontbackdown 06.04.10 at 12:12 pm

The “greed”, in large part, was facilitated by Dick Cheney’s Energy Bill – which Obama voted for and Hillary voted against.

The cover-up, imo, for Transocean and BP fighting Regulation, included the Obama administration’s Mineral Management Service “MMS” bestowing upon both Tansocean and BP “Safety Awards for Excellence”:

“Just last year, the federal Minerals Management Service (MMS) gave BP and Transocean, the owner of the Deepwater Horizon rig, Safety Awards for Excellence –SAFE awards. MMS bestows these on offshore oil and gas corporations for “outstanding safety and pollution prevention performance.” Again this year, BP was a finalist for a SAFE award.

After the Deepwater Horizon explosion, MMS postponed announcement of this year’s winners. Last year, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) presented BP Alaska with a three-year re-certification of its Star award, which recognizes safety performance prize this year of “Safety Company of the year”

“Awards for slip and fall reduction”

http://www.ourfuture.org/blog-entry/2010052021/safety-awards-endanger-workers-lives

42

wontbackdown 06.04.10 at 12:13 pm

Meanwhile – not a word on all of their safety violations and legal maneuvers around Safety and Spill-Prevention, Equipment Failure Regulation.

Lest we forget 2005:

“the BP with a refinery in Texas City, Texas that blew up in 2005 killing 15 workers and injuring 170, the BP that OSHA slapped with its second largest total penalty ever — $21 million – for safety violations at Texas City that led to the massive explosion, the BP that OSHA hit with its largest ever fine — $87.4 million – last fall for failure over four years to comply with the terms of its settlement agreement to correct the potential hazards at Texas City.

Oh and before anyone alleges that my # 34 “Hope and Change dipped in chocolate, anyone” was about Obama’s race?

….it was about THE BIRD and Obama’s typical spin on everything above his pay-grade.

The truth is, Obama is too Obama. He could give a crap less about racism – much less wildlife and people.

He’s a white man’s power-big corporate-government pimp – which HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE, PEOPLE, MALE, FEMALE, YOUNG OR OLD, GAY OR STRAIGHT, RELIGIOUS OR NOT, PARTY OR COUNTRY.

…And, he’s enjoying every second of the big white house, limousines, jets, parties and adulation, Suckers.

…Conflicts, people, economy, jobs, wars, oil spills, crimes against humanity? Just a pain in his DUMB a$$.

Obama’s not just an embarrassment or disappointment in leadership; he’s cut out of the same cultural mold as British Petroleum’s upper management – the perfect, tragic example of an epic failure to humanity. The willful intent to deceive was no accident – it was both their strategy and tactic.

Boycotting BP is more difficult than you would think. It is not just as simple as boycotting BP gas stations. BP has franchised all of their service stations. So they are run by small business owners. And they sell their gas through other stations.

The oil business are all affiliated through sales and purchase as well as joint ventures. Have no doubt, they are one huge MONOPOLY.

#65 #@!! The execs of that company need to go to jail for running a criminally shoddy and dangerous business. Then we’ll see how many more smug statements they’ll make.

And only weeks before the spill, BP’s CEO sold off a third of his shares:

I find it totally disgusting that Obama can go down to the Gulf, remind those folks that BP spent 1.5 billion and as he said, that’s a billion with a b in front of, but yet he’s
forced our country (along with his cronies in congress) into trillions of debt, that with T in front of it. Does this man ever think about anthing than money. There is no amount of money that will replace lost lives and mother earth creatures and habitat. He’s so blind. He’s mentally flawed.
By the way, Helen Thomas, if you want the Jews to go back to Poland and Germany, I want Obama to go back to Kenya, everyone just go back to their lands from their roots. Helen you go back to Lebanon. And the mexicans go back to mexico, and the natives americans can have their land back.

Why did it take two weeks for them to start drilling the first relief well?

Why is there no answer to people who have submitted other viable ideas? (Where are OBPama’s Great Thinkers?)

Why are we not using bioremediation to mitigate the disaster as it reaches the shore? (see Post #64)

BP battles spill, and rising tide of public anger
Thu Jun 3, | 4:48 pm ET

“BP officials aren’t exactly helping matters with public statements that can come across as callous. Outraged Web users have posted the phone number and email address for company representative Randy Prescott in the wake of reports that he’d said “Louisiana isn’t the only place that has shrimp.” And CEO Hayward has delivered at least one cringe-worthy gaffe every few days. Most recently, Hayward said, “I’d like my life back” in an interview with CNN. That ill-timed display of self-pity prompted critics to point out that the 11 men who lost their lives in the explosion would probably also like their lives back, as would the countless Gulf residents who will be economic casualties of disaster.”

BP Cleanup Program Reportedly Helping ‘Weekend Warriors,’ Not Fishermen
Published June 05, 2010 | FOXNews.com

But a “large number” of the 1,900 contracts issued by BP for the program have gone to owners of pleasure boats, such as doctors and lawyers, the Daily Beast reports.

“We have these weekend warriors taking away jobs from those who fish for a living,” boat captain Tom Becker told the website. “Every day I see the boat trailers fill the parking lot as the pleasure boats get their assignment for [the] day while the commercial fleet sits idle.”

Becker, an officer of the National Association of Charterboat Operators, estimated that up to 90 percent of the BP contracts in his Mississippi harbor had gone to pleasure vessels.

The program pays boat captains $1,200 to $3,000 per day, depending on the size of the vessel, the website reports. Deckhands, meanwhile, can earn up to $200 daily.

A BP spokesman did not immediately return a request for comment when reached by FoxNews.com, but company spokesman Graham MacEwen told the Daily Beast changes have been made to the program to favor fishermen.”

BP’s Dismal Safety Record –
BP Has One of the Worst Safety Records of Any Oil Company Operating in the U.S.

By PIERRE THOMAS, LISA A. JONES, JACK CLOHERTY and JASON RYAN | May 27, 2010

“As the nation comes to grips with the worst oil disaster in its history , there is evidence BP has one of the worst safety track records of any major oil company operating in the United States.
The employees stationed on the Gulf oil rig testify in a congressional hearing.

In two separate disasters prior to the Gulf oil rig explosion, 30 BP workers have been killed, and more than 200 seriously injured.

In the last five years, investigators found, BP has admitted to breaking U.S. environmental and safety laws and committing outright fraud. BP paid $373 million in fines to avoid prosecution.”

And, on those “falling unemployment numbers” – Swapping the Employed – WTF?!

Unemployed Need Not Apply — Supply Chain Social Darwinism
June 4, 2010 1:46 PM | Administrator

“Economists polled by Reuters thought there would be a gain of 190,000 private-sector jobs last month. Instead, it was just 41,000 … [despite] Census jobs account[ing] for 411,000 of the net gain of 431,000.” And to boot “retailers cut 6600 jobs in May, contributing to a far weaker-than-expected reading on private sector payrolls.”

For unemployed persons actively seeking employment these figures are daunting at best. But if you happen to be among the nearly 14 million out of work, you’ve likely noticed a new caveat appearing in a number of job postings over the past few weeks: “Unemployed need not apply.”

PROPAGANDA ALERT! – WARNING ON BP!

BP Buys ‘Oil’ Search Terms to Redirect Users to Official Company Website
BP Spokesman Acknowledges Purchase ‘To Make It Easier for People to Find Out More About Our Efforts in the Gulf’ and Other Ways to Help

By EMILY FRIEDMAN | VENICE, La., June 5, 2010

“Be careful where you click, especially if you’re looking for news on the BP oil spill.

BP, the very company responsible for the oil spill that is already the worst in U.S. history, has purchased several phrases on search engines such as Google and Yahoo so that the first result that shows up directs information seekers to the company’s official website.

A simple Google search of “oil spill” turns up several thousand news results, but the first link, highlighted at the very top of the page, is from BP. “Learn more about how BP is helping,” the link’s tagline reads.

A spokesman for the company confirmed to ABC News that it had, in fact, bought these search terms to make information on the spill more accessible to the public.:

To everyone:

Hang in there, it is not going to be easy.

Our worst fears of certain death and destruction caused by this crime against humanity are now unfolding rapidly in the Gulf.

Reports are starting to come in now that the numbers of marine and wildlife dying are becoming visible and rapidly escalating.

We need to prepare ourselves for the worst possible thing we can imagine. Given the sheer volume of crude in the gulf – we all knew a mass kill of marine and wildlife was inevitable. We may also have to bare even more unimaginable news soon – more toxic affects on human life – from fumes, etc.

We will all experience varying degrees of trauma by the knowledge of the sheer suffering, losses and uncertainty of its human toll.

I am saying this – not to be dramatic, but to take Murphy’s advice to me once – “take care of yourselves emotionally” – whatever that means for you.

We are powerless to stop what is happening – and will have to live through what has already been set into motion.

We are all going to need one another – in strength, courage and determination – to stand up against the corruption that is the hand of death in the gulf.

We grieve together – we are not alone.

TexasTigress 06.05.10 at 10:17 pm

I think the mosque being built is like planting a flag on the moon or Iwo Jima. If it is allowed to be built it will scream victory to radical muslims. Gulf stories have pretty much erased any chance of an uproar over this so it will be built. Sharia law will be tolerated in America until it over powers.

121

Headclunker 06.05.10 at 10:58 pm

Henry,

I do not like the mosque being built there. I do not like the Islamic religion or any of their attitudes about women. I think they are being agitators. But this country is about freedom of religion.

So let them be tested and show what they are made of. And so will we be tested.

A year ago i would have been on the same page as you, but today I believe they are using our rights and compassion to dismantle us. I was living in New York on 9/11 and I cannot forget. I am a gay man and I can remember in 2003 when I was working in a restaurant on W 72nd it was a Sunday and we closed early. The entire staff would have a big sit down meal together and I recall the delivery guy who was more than a tad bit emotionally and intellectually stunted asking me if I was gay and then proceeding to tell me how I was going to hell in front of the entire staff. Others became very angry but I made accommadations for him thinking well thats how he grew up and his religion. But I never would have accepted the same behaivor from someone of Latin heritage. The mosque is nothing but a smack in the face and I feel that any woman/gay/christian/jew who is not inflamed by the action is behaving and rationalizing with the same mentality I did when I allowed the pig to freely vent his bile upon me.

Henry,

I am not suggesting you let anyone freely vent their bile on you. But then, you know you are not going to Hell. Me, I would have gotten into it and told the slob that, if there is a God, I was sure it is not him.

If anything like that is the intention of the location of the mosque, I think there is going to be a whole lot of trouble.

We will see.

Truth be told, I think the media gets it, even on a personal level, that there is only so much the public can absorb – from the corporate and political corruption that culminated into this, to the actual death and destruction happening – and the worst is yet to come.

As for “your girls”, Texas, while I am childless, picturing them in my mind, my thoughts of them – their futures – are accompanied by that sense of how desperately we have all wanted to make things better for their generation and those to come after.

They didn’t even have a say in all of this, yet they will bear the lions’ share of the burdens of its toll.

The Gulf will now forever symbolize the complacency, lack of wisdom and danger of falling for popularity over substance and experience, when it comes to electing governance of a country. We’ve been teetering on the brink of one disaster after another, buying into the ridiculous notion of “THIS IS THE ONE” – which has done nothing but fuel the fires of political and corporate dominance and normalize corruption as the means to achieve it.

What were citizens thinking by ever giving their government a blank check and corporate giants the power to abuse?

email from obama

scarlett –

Yesterday, I visited Caminada Bay in Grand Isle, Louisiana — one of the first places to feel the devastation wrought by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. While I was here, at Camerdelle’s Live Bait shop, I met with a group of local residents and small business owners.

Folks like Floyd Lasseigne, a fourth-generation oyster fisherman. This is the time of year when he ordinarily earns a lot of his income. But his oyster bed has likely been destroyed by the spill.

Terry Vegas had a similar story. He quit the 8th grade to become a shrimper with his grandfather. Ever since, he’s earned his living during shrimping season — working long, grueling days so that he could earn enough money to support himself year-round. But today, the waters where he has worked are closed. And every day, as the spill worsens, he loses hope that he will be able to return to the life he built.

Here, this spill has not just damaged livelihoods. It has upended whole communities. And the fury people feel is not just about the money they have lost. It is about the wrenching recognition that this time their lives may never be the same.

These people work hard. They meet their responsibilities. But now because of a manmade catastrophe — one that is not their fault and beyond their control — their lives have been thrown into turmoil. It is brutally unfair. And what I told these men and women is that I will stand with the people of the Gulf Coast until they are again made whole.

That is why, from the beginning, we have worked to deploy every tool at our disposal to respond to this crisis. Today, there are more than 20,000 people working around the clock to contain and clean up this spill. I have authorized 17,500 National Guard troops to participate in the response. More than 1,900 vessels are aiding in the containment and cleanup effort. We have convened hundreds of top scientists and engineers from around the world. This is the largest response to an environmental disaster of this kind in the history of our country.

We have also ordered BP to pay economic injury claims, and this week, the federal government sent BP a preliminary bill for $69 million to pay back American taxpayers for some of the costs of the response so far. In addition, after an emergency safety review, we are putting in place aggressive new operating standards for offshore drilling. And I have appointed a bipartisan commission to look into the causes of this spill. If laws are inadequate, they will be changed. If oversight was lacking, it will be strengthened. And if laws were broken, those responsible will be brought to justice.

These are hard times in Louisiana and across the Gulf Coast, an area that has already seen more than its fair share of troubles. The people of this region have met this terrible catastrophe with seemingly boundless strength and character in defense of their way of life. What we owe them is a commitment by our nation to match the resilience they have shown. That is our mission. And it is one we will fulfill.

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

Sorry in all religions symbolism is paramount
A mosque at ground zero?
The director of 2012 wanted to have mecca included along with all of the other “sacred” places which were destroyed in his film but was told he would have a fatwa or whatever they call it that is a bounty on his head and he caved.
I grew up Catholic and even though I am an agnostic it still makes me very uncomfortable when I hear GD used frequently in films. It is an insult to so many who are of faith but Hollywood doesn’t bat an eye when it freely desecrates the beliefs of the Christian/Jewish faiths.

Henry,

I thought the mosque was near Ground Zero, not at it. They do not have any power over us that we do not give them. I am a person of faith, but not religion. I particularly dislike any radical forms of it. They all seem like nutjobs.

I believe in the fundamental rightness of Christianity. I think it is a better belief system and I do not see Islam as something that could replace it, especially considering womens rights. We are half of the whole and system of government or religion that is not inclusive and respectful is inherently flawed and will FAIL.

Women’s Rights are Human Rights and as they go so goes humanity.

I do disagree with you, however, in the way that England has allowed sharia law to supplant the rights of women. Little by little it will be chipped away until it becomes the law of the land. I don’t know if its true but I read somewhere that a mid western state had to allow for no interest financing to islamic Americans to buy homes as islam doesn’t allow for the charging of interest.
Our dearly held rights are being used against us and they know damn well what they are doing.

A few last words on the “SPILL.MY.ASS?!”

As of this post, the “SPILL” is GUSHING worse than before. The cap isn’t working. They cannot tighten the vents without the top hat trying to blow off. It isn’t working!

We must keep demanding to SEE what is going on in the Gulf. To publicize the evidence of these Crime(s) Against Humanity!

We must not let the images of this atrocity numb us to the point that we submit to a sense of futility over this system of abuse.

It will be hard to look at, but please, keep your eyes, minds and hearts wide open to the Gulf and everything it represents!

The families, marine life, wildlife and Gulf Region and waters DO NOT BELONG to British Petroleum nor the Federal Government! British Petroleum is a lessee in default and the federal government is simply the contract lessor/manager on behalf of THE PEOPLE AND ALL LIVING THINGS INVOLVED.

We cannot let British Petroleum, the Obama Administration and our government’s collective acts of corruption, incompetence and blatant cover ups wear us down!

We must push back, and harder than ever! The abuse of power is literally destroying lives, our natural resources, and our planet!

Nonie Darwish is the Author of:

Cruel and Usual Punishment: The Terrifying Global Implications of Islamic Law

She converted from Islam to Christianity. In her latest book, Darwish warns about creeping sharia law – what it is, what it means, and how it is manifested in Islamic countries.

“In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.S. to elect the President by themselves! Rest assured they will do so… You can look at how they have taken over several towns in the USA .. Dearborn Mich. is one… and there are others…

For the West, she says radical Islamists are working to impose sharia on the world. If that happens, Western civilization will be destroyed. Westerners generally assume all religions encourage a respect for the dignity of each individual. Islamic law (Sharia) teaches that non-Muslims should be subjugated or killed in this world.

Peace and prosperity for one’s children is not as important as assuring that Islamic law rules everywhere in the Middle East and eventually in the world.

While Westerners tend to think that all religions encourage some form of the golden rule, Sharia teaches two systems of ethics – one for Muslims and another for non-Muslims. Building on tribal practices of the seventh century, Sharia encourages the side of humanity that wants to take from and subjugate others.”

The threat of Islamic practice is not lost on me, Henry. While we will largely decry a fanatical fundamentalist baptist church for forcing a rape victim to apologize to the congregation for getting pregnant by her rapist, we want to be “freedom of religion” correct for the same kind of fricking radicalism, when it comes to Muslims of the Islamic faith.

I happen to be one that thinks that erecting an Islamic Mosque at, or near, Ground Zero is about as sensitive, intelligent and diversity and/or religious freedom correct as putting a rehabilitation facility for repeat offender rapists next door to a safe house for rape victims.

I happen to know exactly what the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) says about Human Rights and Women’s Rights and so does the UUN – Useless United Nations – that sucked up to the abominable freaks and made them a permanent delegation – despite their deplorable “non-freedom from oppression religion”.

I don’t give a rats-behind what their Americanized, public relations campaign says about their “peaceful religion”. A Non-Islamic is an “infidel” – an enemy of their Mohamed.

Sneak preview NY Mosque
The mosque will be built on the
top floor where worshipers will have a view of
Ground zero.

Please take a moment to read this

New Yorkers wondering what the $100-million, fifteen-story mega-mosque at Ground Zero will be like need only cast their eyes north to Boston. There they’ll find the giant mosque of the Islamic Society of Boston, which, like the newly-approved Ground Zero mosque, was sold to the public by the politicians as a marvelous, desperately needed home for interfaith healing, and which quickly devolved into a cesspool of hate speech, terrorist affiliations, a lawsuit to shut down the mosque’s critics, and a one-stop shop for genuflecting politicians to suck up to Muslims and collect their cash.

Snip

All signs point to a repeat of the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center debacle, in which Mayor Thomas Menino practically gave away city-owned land worth $2 million to the Islamic Society of Boston, whose founder Abdurrahman Alamoudi currently sweats out a 23-year prison term for terrorist crimes. Mayor Menino donated the public’s land for the construction of the ISB mosque — excuse me, “Cultural Center” — with the standard pleas for diversity, healing, peace, and frolicking unicorns. Of course, he didn’t bother to investigate the peaceful healing record of the Middle Eastern men he was donating to: ISB Trustee Yusuf Qaradawi, spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, who’s been banned from the U.S. and dubbed “the theologian of terror” by the ADL; ISB Trust President Osama Kandil, director of an Islamic charity designated as terrorist by the U.S. government; and ISB Trustee Jamal Badawi, an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial. But the mayor’s speeches sure sounded pretty, and that’s what counts.

Some may question the efficacy and wisdom of use of these products on a gushing well, but Florida is far enough removed from the source that they should be effective and safe as clean-up products.

Not to go dump a bunch in the middle of the mess, but individuals and local governments can buy the products for local and limited use.

Were there known problems on the well long before it blew?

Who are these companies and why did they sell large amounts of BP Stock weeks before “the Spill”?

Reported on 3/31/2010

Columbia Management Advisors, LLC
Fidelity Management & Research
Goldman Sachs Asset Management (US) Sold 43.7 %
PNC Wealth Management Sold 17.9 %
Van Kampen Asset Management Sold 32,149 %
FAF Advisors, Inc.
Tony Hayward, BP Chief Sold 30 %

Why was Halliburton working on the BP well in the days before the explosion?

They were pumping in cement slurry to the pipe:

” The process is tricky. A 2007 study by the U.S. Minerals Management Service found that cementing was the single most-important factor in 18 of 39 well blowouts in the Gulf of Mexico over a 14-year period.

Halliburton has been accused of performing a poor cement job in the case of a major blowout in the Timor Sea off Australia last August. An investigation is underway.”

http://articles.latimes.com/2010/may/01/nation/la-na-oil-spill-investigation-20100501

Not to worry – Halliburton was already jockeying into position to have an interest in handling blow-outs:

Egypt to strip men married to Israelis of citizenship

by Jailan Zayan Jailan Zayan – Sat Jun 5, 11:14 am ET

CAIRO (AFP) – “A Cairo court on Saturday upheld a ruling to strip Egyptian men married to Israeli women of their citizenship in a case that has highlighted national sentiment towards Israel.”

:SNIP:

“Lawyer Nabil al-Wahsh said he originally brought the case to court in order to prevent the creation of a generation “disloyal to Egypt and the Arab world.” (emp added)

Children of such marriages “should not be allowed to perform their military service,” he said.

The number of Egyptian men married to Israeli women is thought to be around 30,000, according to Wahsh. Only 10 percent of them are married to Arab Israelis.

“This ruling is for the benefit of Egypt, a nation of leadership, history and civilisation,” Wahsh said. “It is for the protection of Egypt and Egypt’s youth and its national security.”

About Bioremediation

I am a chemical engineer by profession who spent 20 years in petrochemicals, climbing up the ranks from lab tech to senior (female) process development engineer at a world class chemical plant. I was fired for poor job performance after refusing to by my bosses’ “work friend”. I could spend hours telling you stories, including the one about reporting to a supervisor who was a card carrying member of the KKK.

My next professional experience involved becoming a licensed Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) contractor and trying to put my now ex-husband to work. He and the business did not work out, but I did get involved in the mold remediation business and helped develop some environmentally friendly bioremediation techniques that were more effective and economical than any before. They are not widely published because of conflicts with EPA regulations that require that you disclose formulas and demonstrate efficacy. The bacterial enzymes used are not proprietary because they are common in the environment and they are not very effective as disinfectants. Most producers have their own secret formula of common bacteria.

The problem with disinfection is the toxic nature required of the products. If they do not breakdown into harmless substances, they are around to effect people. If they do break down into harmless substances, there is nothing left to protect the environment from reinfestation by the next opportunistic microbe that comes along. The solution was to use a toxic, high efficacy disinfectant that broke down rapidly after application and then follow it up with benign bacterial enzymes that would inhabit the environment, compete with more toxic microbes for food and water, and produce friendly enzymes. They are currently marketed as deodorants and cleaning solutions. I use them in my home, whenever possible, instead of toxic disinfectants.

It is a different set of bacterial enzymes that work on oil than would be used for odor control. However, they are all commonly found in out environment. The argument against them would be that applying them in concentration would change the environment and we do not fully know what that change might be.

Guess what. Change is here. Deal with it.

Headclunker:

I’ve been trying to figure out how to construct the same “form” for here – to make it easier to get these stories out – in an effort to counter BP’s massive media campaign.

Wouldn’t the solutions you are offering need to go to the Media for exposure, making it more difficult for BP to ignore or cover-up with their own spin.

The “BPs” and “Halliburtons” all have huge, multi-layers of vested interests – just like Halliburton had in Cheney’s war for oil and Obama and politicians have in maintaining political relationships with BP and the oil industry.

Now is the time – and there has to be a way – to wrestle the Gulf Region from these conflicted interests and back into the hands of THE PEOPLE?

The media owes this to the American people. They helped feed this Monster and now it is killing us all.

We are them.

I know the Federal Judiciary needs a house cleaning, but the means to do that already exist. It will probably take a Special Committee of the Judicial Conference to reinforce existing guidelines for the special interests of judges because the abuses have become accepted behavior.

Same with our legislators.

And then we need to look at the anti-trust laws with how this monster has resurrected itself from pieces. History has repeated itself. Bust the O&G Trust. I tell you, not a single company is independent.

It goes way past the Gulf. America must decide to face the beast or drown in it’s own oil.

goofsmon #191,

Don’t get me started.

Without more details, I could not say what could have been. What I do know about are the systemic problems.

What you saw was what they had so far as emergency response. The plans need to be made before the incident. There should have been regulatory oversight assuring the facilities had proper emergency response plans. The contacts and chains of command and supply should have been pre-defined. The emergency response was BP’s responsibility but making sure they had a plan in place before the incident WAS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF OUR GOVERNMENT.

Obama got his 3am call and did not wake up.

GWB disempowered and dismantled the regulatory oversight and BHO was too stupid to put reasonable oversight back in place. Our regulatory agencies are in gross need of update and staffing. That is Air, Water, Safety and Environment. Our INFRASTRUCTURE. After pouring the countries resources into the pockets of the banksters, the ass has the gall to scapegoat a woman who has been in charge of such an agency for 10 months.

The Deepwater Horizon was a drilling rig, not a production rig so it was a higher risk deal. I do not understand why such a project would even be allowed without the relief well facilities. At the very least, there should have been contingencies to trigger immediate deployment in the case of an incident. None of the response seemed to follow any kind of protocol I have ever seen.

I have been involved in emergency response and am currently trained in it as one of my current job responsibilities. The whole deal in the Gulf was run like a circus.

Obama get’s and F for Failure.

A feel good story
Really cool story.
The little town I am from on LI had many survivors as well as those who lost their life on 911.
This weekend a
A FDNY friend who survived but lost his brother wanted to share a really “cool story”. He proceeded to tell me that on the first St Patricks day after 911, which is a huge thing in NY especially within the FDNY and NYPD. He goes to headquaters and is told the President of Ireland wants to meet him, she is there to present a huge Waterford Crystal American Flag with the names of those who lost their lifes from the FDNY on 911.
He is told that she wants to meet him but he really wants to just go to march in the parade. But he goes to meet her and she says ” I was reading the names inscribed and I came across my family name which is not common even in Ireland. I did some checking and found that indeed this fireman and I are related. When I arrived here I asked about this fireman and I was told “he has a brother and his brother is still on the job and he happens to be downstairs”. “So I asked to meet you so I could tell you that Ireland mourns its own those who came to American and served Ireland and this country so proudly”

My friend is the desendant of Immigrants who left Ireland from the north and arrived on Ellis Island…NY.
My friend is the desendant of the President of Ireland, the first president from Northern Ireland and the first and only woman to succeed another woman as President.
And Mary McAleese the President of Ireland is a desendant of a long line of NYC firefighters. One of whom was last seen running up a flight of stairs as the world trade towers fell down upon him.
Slainte….Brian and President Mary McAleese

Within 3 blocks from where I live, there is a large town lake. It boasts one of the largest variety of bird species in this region. Until the last couple of years, I biked the 27 mile bike path, at dawn, several times a week.

Several years ago, the brown pelicans started coming and I discovered how truly amazing they are. I promised each day to bring my camera the next.

Today, although I knew that they had all migrated to their gulf coast breeding grounds, I so wanted to catch one more glimpse. I’m afraid they are all gone and that our chances of hosting them ever again is slim to none.

The Gulf Coast gave us that – all over the southern states and beyond – and so much more – an entire culture, livelihoods, vacation beaches for “average” people (as a kid, my first view of the ocean, stay in a “fancy” beachfront hotel and ride on a ferry).

I can hardly stand it either, Texas. The gulf coast is our eastern seaboard. It is unfathomable that it is now a toxic, waste dump, and that a corporate monster, and all of its accomplices, are killing everything living thing that calls it “home”.

It hurts in a way that I cannot explain. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve suddenly burst into tears more than I care to admit. I cannot imagine the pain of those that have spent their entire lives there.

Barbara,
Good story.
I just sent it to a long time friend of mine whose surname is McLees, on the off chance that their surname was changed at Ellis Island, like so many were.

Side note: Yesterday I met with a dear cousin whom I hadn’t seen in 46, or so , years. She arrived with a truckload of photos from ‘the old country’, as well as a genealogy chart she’d been working on for several years. The contrast of the original surnames and how they were changed and mangled is surreal.

“Did you watch the video?”

Sorry – had shut down when you posted.

Yes, I watched it and was shocked that there is that kind of visual evidence of the flotilla attacking the soldiers – yet so much focus on Israel being the violent aggressor.

Personally, I don’t believe that flotilla’s focus was about the refugees in Gaza, anymore than the refugees are the focus of Hamas.

I didn’t know much about the “Center For Security Policy”, so I looked them up after watching it and saw that Israel issued an apology for the video, which I guess I can understand under the circumstances of so much volatility.

I have known that Israel has attempted to accommodate and resolve control over the Gaza Strip, in a multitude of ways, for years.

But, the Palestinians won’t be happy until the Jews, as a nation, cease to exist. The Gaza strip, for them, is nothing more than “checkmate,” imo.

Furthermore, if anyone thinks that the Palestinians would come to the defense of the U.S. in any conflict, they’re dreaming. We keep trying to ‘keep our enemies close to us’ and they keep biting everyone in the a$$.

Even Karzai is now accommodating the Taliban – again. As the saying goes, blood is thicker than water.

I don’t know, I lean toward agreeing with Helen Thomas, and disagree with Golda Meir’s (the only time so far) “where else do we have to go?”. There are plenty of Isrealis around the world, including many in the US.

Five million others where also slaughtered during the holocaust, artists, gays and lesbians, intellectuals, Greeks…
wish Britain would have served evictions and set up a state for those classes of people.

There’s also one group that trumps Jewish people in terms of being targeted and victimized… how about a state for women?

Anyway, that’s the way my gut leans… not bound by this thought, although it does come up in reaction to certain actions and statements regarding Israel.

In the meantime, Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherds are back on Animal Planet on Friday nights with Whale Wars. The japanese have ratcheted up their weapons to fight the Sea Shepherds and to take more whales this season. They have bought planes to follow the Sea Shepherds ships and keep them from intercepting the Japanes whale factory ships when they are whaling in the whale sanctuary. Two N.J. men arrested at JFK airport before boarding plane to join Islamist terrorist group,

NEWARK — Two New Jersey men intent on killing American troops were arrested Saturday as they boarded flights to link up with a virulent jihadist group in Somalia, authorities said.

Both had bragged about wanting to wage holy war against the United States both at home and internationally, investigators said.

Authorities said the men planned to wage jihad as part of a Somalia-based Islamist terror group called al Shabaab, an organization of several thousand fighters spread through Somalia’s southern region. Al Shabaab, whose full Arabic name means “Mujahideen Youth Movement,” has had ties to al Qaeda since 2007, according to national security experts.

A war memorial makes a hell of a lot more sense, to me, than a Mosque for the SAME RELIGION that instigated the 9/11 attack, as well as, other attacks THAT RELIGION seems to “inspire” all over the world.

I agree with headclunker – where the hell is Homeland Security on this?!
They damned sure aren’t keeping tabs on Islamic “legal” military personnel – or, apparently, other Islamic “legal” immigrants.

If it’s “fear of profiling,” reading the Koran and/or the Bible not only gives you a view into the ideologies, but the degree of their antiquated, barbaric practices and how much they are influencing present-day events.

We blow up innocents in one part of the world trying to stop Islamic radicals from taking over, then give them freedom of the same origin of religion here – on the grounds that factions of their “peaceful” religion waged war upon.

The Timothy McVeighs aren’t a major threat to our country for a damned good reason – we keep them that way. We don’t “justify” American Zealots, of any religious or political persuasion, waging war upon their own fellow citizens.

That’s a damn shame. Ms. Thomas always called it as she saw it and openly challenged Presidential motive and policy. She was a thorn in Dumya’s side.
Her retirement is another strike against informative journalism and so-called freedom of speech.

Where have you been DWP , Helen Thomas has been a rabid anti-semite for years.. she just was never quite so free and open with her opinion as in the presence of the muslim sympahtizer in office… maybe that is why she went after Bush , because he was a staunch defender of Israel. Following is some very enlightening information against the proposed mega mosque at ground zero. Apologies for the lengthy post. I agree with Dr. Jasser, who is referenced in the article, that “there are more productive ways to fight Islamic extremism,” and “there is another agenda rather than domestic security and tranquility.” I believe this proposed mega mosque at ground zero must be stopped. H/T to SYD for the link via her blogspot.

http://muslimsagainstsharia.blogspot.com/2010/06/demonstrators-say-no-to-mosque-at.html

Excerpts from the linked article –
”The Cordoba Initiative, headed by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, is the chief sponsor of the project that is to be called The Cordoba House, a name that refers to the city in Spain which, in the Middle Ages, was a center of Islamic culture and learning. Cordoba was also the seat of an Islamic caliphate in which Jews and Christians suffered under second-class dhimmi status and was the site of large-scale pogrom, perpetrated by Muslims, in the year 1011.

The proposed mosque will be built at 45 Park Place, which is the site of a four story edifice built in 1857 and was a Burlington Coat retail store until 9/11, when part of the plane’s landing gear crashed through the roof. The building which currently houses a mosque will be razed to make room for the new structure. The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission could conceivably thwart the intended project if they determine that the building has historic status, thus rendering it a landmark. Elisabeth de Bourbon, a spokeswoman for the Landmarks Commission said a hearing is scheduled to take place on that very subject. New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg has weighed in on the issue and has expressed support for the project.

Imam Rauf insists that the $150 million project is meant to heal the wounds of 9/11. “We’ve approached the community because we want this to be an example of how we are cooperating with the members of the community, not only to provide services but also to build a discourse on how Muslims and non-Muslims can cooperate together to push back against the voice of extremism”, he said.

Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy says there are more productive ways to fight Islamic extremism and has questions about the financing. According to reports, the building that occupies the site was purchased last year for $4.85 million in cash by Soho Properties, a real estate company run by Muslims. Imam Rauf, who is also the founder of the American Society for Muslim Advancement was an investor in that transaction.

Dr. Jasser said that with such a financial commitment, there needs to be full disclosure about where the money is coming from. “There should be transparency about who those investors are; whether that money is coming from a domestic source or not, and if it’s coming from foreign interests we need to know, because I think that’s a liability, and it shows that there is another agenda rather than domestic security and tranquility” he said. –

Definition/history re the words “caliphate” and “pogrom” is available at these links:
http://www.knowledgerush.com/kr/encyclopedia/Caliphate/
http://www.reference.com/browse/caliphate
http://www.answers.com/topic/pogrom

What I see in the above information is that the “Cordoba House,” the name chosen for the proposed mega mosque at ground zero, is an Islamic symbol of conquest and dominion and servitude or worse for all non-Muslims, and certainly NOT a symbol of “healing” as its backers claim. The proposed mega mosque is planned to open Sept. 11, 2011, a very symbolic date in the Islamic world, exactly 10 years after the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, and 100 years after the last caliphate began in Spain, under which “Jews and Christians suffered under second-class dhimmi status” and “the site of large-scale pogrom, perpetrated by Muslims, in the year 1011.”

The “caliph,” who rules over all — enforcing sharia law and ruling spiritually and militarily — rules over the “caliphate,” the land under his dominion. “Pogrom,” according to the definitions I found, is “An organized, often officially encouraged massacre or persecution of a minority group, especially one conducted against Jews.”

My home is only a few blocks away from the Massapequa Preserve on Long Island, which includes a small lake, several streams and a wonder of plants, flowers and various small animals. I visit the preserve often and consider myself fortunate to live near such a magnificent park.

On Saturday, I will be sure to visit the preserve, stop at the lake, bow my head and say a prayer to God that He will have mercy on the land, the wildlife, the environment and the people living along the Gulf.

Thank you for the suggestion.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russians began taking down their statues of Josef Stalin, the mass murderer who killed millions of people. Astonishingly, in America, the National D-Day Memorial is honoring Stalin by placing his bust on a pedestal at its museum in Bedford, Virginia.

This misguided move will haunt millions of Ukrainians, Russians, Poles, Czechs, Hungarians, Jews, etc. whose families were massacred by this Soviet tyrant. Stalin’s killing machine slaughtered more people than Adolf Hitler and the Nazis did.

I don’t have a pony (unity or otherwise) in this race.
I’m not aware that Thomas is a rabid anti-semite. If you could provide info [links] to support that point, I’d be most appreciative and glad to read it.

I hate to think that suggesting Israelis re-locate to their homelands or criticism of the Israeli government equals anti-semitism. That would be too much like criticizing obama’s policies equates to charges of racism.

I think Thomas questioned Bush because he lied the US into war. She’s questioned other preisdents in a most direct and critical way as well.

I think the US’s staunch defense of Israel is purely political / militarily strategic because of its location. That defense also garners campaign donations from Jewish people, and some sects of Christians due to their belief that Jesus won’t return for the beaming up thingie unless Israel is in tact. Israel knows as much and doesnt have a problem with the motivation because one way or another it is still the benefactor of the millions the US gives to them, aside from the armaments the US provides Israel.

Personally, I think the $10 million per day going to Israel would go a long way in to fight current day holocausts… ethnic cleansings, Rwanda, or toward reparations to African American decendants of slaves; or even more recently, the survivors of the Gulf oil gusher that has eradicated / diminished American citizens’ ability to survive in that area.

Just some thoughts. As I said, i don’t have a pony in this race, and frankly couldn’t care any less.

goofsmom 06.07.10 at 2:19 pm

My 2 cents…

I am sick and tired of the whole Isreali/Palistinian situation. Why are we as a country taking sides in a conflict that is never going to end. We as a country are funding 2 wars and the Gods know how many other conflicts, many of which are over dirt and religion.

IMHO Jeruseleum should be made into a large historical site and managed as such. That is what we are supporting with our money, which side has a right to have their religion control a city.

I do care that thousands of people each year die, many are women and children who suffer and die. I do care that our money is used to kill women and children.

IMHO we should pull out of the Middle East completely. Out of Iraq, Afghanistan, stop covert operations and leave all the other Middle Eastern countries.

I do feel Helen Thomas is a loss. Is there a chance in hell that a woman will get that seat she is vacating, NO. When will another women get a chance at that seat again? Is there another woman in the wings that will earn that right?

You may not like what she said but if we truly are a democracy and believe in the constitution, then she had every right under Freedom of Speech to say it. Her newspaper forced her to resign. So now who is going to be the top female reporter in the White House? Do you even see a 50/50 split in that press room of gender?

Sorry for rambling but there is a bigger loss here! Where is your support for women… Oh, it’s only if the woman agree’s with you. This is why we don’t have 50% representation in the Government, business, the press etc. etc. etc.

BBL… I’m frustrated by this…

A blog is nothing but opinions. Opinions like seeds strewn all over them. If bringing in another opinion (that I am not attached to, as I stated) is pesticide, then so be it.

I don’t get your analogy. Are you saying if gays and lesbians took over, let’s say Alcatraz Island, and it created decades of problems, and some thought the gays and lesbians should go back to their cities of origin, what would I say then? I don’t know. It would depend on the circumstances, method and means, and the purpose/ motivation for taking over the island in the first place.

If Helen Thomas said it, or some other individual, of which I’m sure there would be plenty, I’d like to think I would take it as just that, an opinion. Thomas isnt the President or any governing authority, she doesn’t have the power to manifest her opinion.

and, please, if you’re hgoing to insinuate yourself into a conversation, try not to derail it for the personal purpose of taking potshots at either of the two having the converstaion. It’s dishonest and weasely.

See? The examples are not equal. If displaced Mexicans were gifted a state, let’s call it Kansas… and were warring with those that were evicted from the former Kansas, and it was 80 years after they were originally displaced by horrors beyond comprehension… then, in a way, that suggestion would makes sense.

The warring will be ended when the US stops backing Israel. that’s when Israel will be more than willing to reach a reasonable and just peace agreement. As long as Israel has the assurances of US military might behind it, it will act with impunity, i.e. when Sharon marched up to the Temple surrounded by 200 troops. Totally uncalled for and instigative. I think that was around 2000 or so (?).

Oh My – I really didn’t want to get into this discussion. I realize that some folks here will disagree, but I can’t help reply to some of the comments.

Dances – the Israelis were NOT gifted a state! Israel belonged to them for 4000 years! The UN was kind enough to allow them to go back to their homeland. How nice!

You don’t have to believe in any religion, or the Bible. Just read the history books.

David was the King of Jerusalem before there was such a word as muslim, islam or mohammed in any dictionery.

The Temple was built by Soloman and then by Herod. The wall of the temple is still there. In Jerusalem!

Helen Thomas has always had an attitude against Israel. She is the daughter of immigrants from Lebanon.

Helen should have told the Palestinians to go home – to Saudia Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Jordon, and so on.

They are now confined in a refugee camp run and controlled by the UN.

The Arab states from which they originally came, do not want them back!

So tired of this hatred of Israel.

FLBarbara 06.07.10 at 3:27 pm

I thought this interesting.
Leslie Gelb, former president of the Council on Foreign Relations, writes, the blockade is not just perfectly rational, it is perfectly legal. Gaza under Hamas is a self-declared enemy of Israel a declaration backed up by more than 4,000 rockets fired at Israeli civilian territory. Yet having pledged itself to unceasing belligerency, Hamas claims victimhood when Israel imposes a blockade to prevent Hamas from arming itself with still more rockets.

In World War II, with full international legality, the United States blockaded Germany and Japan. And during the October 1962 missile crisis, we blockaded (quarantined) Cuba. Yet Israel is accused of international criminality for doing precisely what John Kennedy did: impose a naval blockade to prevent a hostile state from acquiring lethal weaponry.

Oh, but weren’t the Gaza-bound ships on a mission of humanitarian relief? No. Otherwise they would have accepted Israel’s offer to bring their supplies to an Israeli port, be inspected for military material, and have the rest trucked by Israel into Gaza as every week 10,000 tons of food, medicine, and other humanitarian supplies are sent by Israel to Gaza.

Why was the offer refused? Because, as organizer Greta Berlin admitted, the flotilla was not about humanitarian relief but about breaking the blockade, i.e., ending Israel’s inspection regime, which would mean unlimited shipping into Gaza and thus the unlimited arming of Hamas.

Israel has already twice intercepted weapons-laden ships from Iran destined for Hezbollah and Gaza. What country would allow that?

There is far more to that region’s Jewish-Arab history, Dances, than an “eviction” analogy can equitably offer.

It goes back too far and I am not prepared nor do I desire to defend either side’s history in its claim of their right to possess that land.

Israel is not the villain, however, in how they regained possession of the region they now occupy.

What I will say is that the 1993 Oslo Accord resulted in an agreement on entering into a 5 year period for negotiations between the two nations for peaceably co-existing in the region – based in large part on establishing recognition of their respective histories.

Who was the spoiler of that Accord? HAMAS! (Who wasn’t even an established organization until 1987. Who funds and manages all of the schools, health-care clinics, mosques, youth groups, athletic clubs, and day-care centers in the Palestinian region? HAMAS.

Who is the primary instigator of Suicide bombings and military aggression against Israel – beginning in 1993? HAMAS.

As long as Palestine, or any other Nation, including our own, attempts to allow or recognize HAMAS as a legitimate “leader” in Islamic interests, there will be violence – it’s how Hamas has always asserted and enforced its position, in all matters, since their founding.

The Jews were thrown out of Israel by the Romans in the year 69AD.

Since that time they have settled in various countries, always with the hope that they would be able to return to their homeland.

It wasn’t until 1948 that the Jews were given the right to return to their homeland by the UN.

I don’t believe that the UN has the authority to give out rights to anyone, but nevertheless, that is when the present state of Israel began.

Obviously many people resent it.

Delle,

Okay, so all the people that lived there for 1879 years were determined not to have any rights to the land by the UN and declared illegal immigrants.

Well then, I guess the American Indians that held the land here have every right to go to the UN and demand that we are all booted out. After all Europeans have only lived here 600 to 800 years.

263

Delle 06.07.10 at 4:37 pm

goofsmom,

I think that the UN is a corrupt organization and should not have any say in what we do. I will vote for anyone who promises to get us out of that place.

It may surprise you, but I agree about the American Indians. They signed so many treaties with the Americans that were not fulfilled, that I think they should be given back their some of their land.

Most especially the Black Hills Mountain range in South Dakota. The Lakotas never signed away their rights to that range. There is a check for $16 million still sitting in the Treasury which they will not claim. They were deceived. As far as they are concerned and according to the agreement, that land is still theirs.

Back to Israel – the notion that they can trade land for peace is nonsensical. When contemplating such an idea, the Israelis should ask the Native Americans just how that theory worked for them.

I also want to go on the record as saying I don’t hate Israel. I don’t love the Palestinians. I am also sad that we as women have lost a voice in a high position. As the Dean of the DC press corps Ms. Thomas had a powerful position. Her comments are hers, just like Limbaugh, Beck, O’Rielly, etc. Were they fired for making unpopulist statements… hmmmm…

Programs.
It took me less than a day to realize I
was on the wrong side of the wall.
Children are taught by Hamas to hate, schools are terrorist training camps and that’s the way they want it.
A mother must give permission for her child to be a suicide bomber. So girls grow up hating and as mothers give their permission to continue the violence.
Boys grow up believing their heroes are suicide bombers and strive to be just like them. There are literally posters of their heroes all over.
They actually play suicide bomber games. Israel and the US are their targets..always.
It has been proven the more educated a woman the less likely she is to give permission. Hamas does not want their women educated because of this reason. Which should be very telling in itself.
This is very sad to me because as you know the way to Peace is through educating women and children but Hamas controls the education not the UN.
IMO they do not want Peace…

275

goofsmom 06.07.10 at 6:06 pm

FLBarbara,

#274 – Agree that women need to be educated. Agree that children brought up in violence and hate find it easy to perpetuate it. Are they not taught the same thing in Israel? Aren’t all their citizens required to serve in the military. Wouldn’t being in the military also make them hate? Then one would have to come to the conclusion that neither side wants peace.

276

invalidresponse 06.07.10 at 6:20 pm

when one is attempting to be allowed the right to exist…and when completely surrounded by countries that insist on absolute annihilation of your country, mandatory military service just doesn’t seem as such a stretch to me…

277

goofsmom 06.07.10 at 6:29 pm

invalidresponse,

#276 – No it’s not. I was just addressing that it also causes more generations of hate than those of peace. Same with the Palistinians teaching their children hatred. I agree Israel can not survive alone but I do wish there was a way to tell them to stop “negotiating” for peace and figure out a way to get to peace.

IMHO no one there is serious about it. Maybe if we tied getting money and arms from the US to establishing a peaceful co-exsistence with the Palistians. Not take away our military backing just the money.

I don’t know what can be done, I’m just thinking out loud.

Swannie 06.07.10 at 6:33 pm

Goofs, Israel did not “get their own country” IT IS their own country … it was for thousands of years before the Palestinians showed up…read your history. The ( gee let me use a word you might understand ) MEME that somehow those Jews were somehow given a country is part of the entire ANTI SEMITIC propaganda spewed by people who want you and other incredibly underinformed people to think Israel does not have a right to exist, and by thinking this, have.. along with a muslimn appeaser and sympathizer president, may be bringing us to the brink of war with Iran .This is not just my opinion .
let me refer you to a letter written in the Jerusalem Post

An open letter to Helen Thomas
By YORAM DORI
06/07/2010 06:32

In light of your recent remarks that Jews must “get the hell out of Palestine” and “go home,” I think I should tell you about my parents’ families.
Dear Ms. Thomas, I read on numerous Web sites the remarks attributed to you (and I did not see any denial) that we, the Jews must “get the hell out of Palestine” and “go home” to Germany or Poland. I am convinced that you are aware of the events which took place during the years 1939-1945 but, to be certain, I think it appropriate to tell you a little about my parents and their families.

My mother was sent to Palestine from Germany in 1933 with the rise of the Nazis to power by her farseeing parents. The British blockade, which prevented Jews fleeing the Nazi horrors from entering, made it difficult for her and only the pretext of coming on a tourist visit enabled her to enter and remain alive. Her older sister, Sarah, her husband and three children aged 12, 10 and seven did not succeed in finding a way of coming to Palestine and were sent by the Nazis to Poland and from there, their journey to the Auschwitz gas chambers, was short. I understand that it is there that you wish to send me.
My father, who lived in Austria, also showed resourcefulness and immediately on the German invasion and sailed to Palestine. On the way – again the British blockade – he was forced to throw his passport into the sea so that, heaven forbid, they would not send him back to Austria, another country you wished I was moving to. His older brother and his wife, who did not go with him, were murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators.

My parents, who, as mentioned, with lifesaving initiative, fled from Europe before they were murdered, arrived in a desolated and barren country, worked in orchards, barely supported themselves and, by the way, were happy with their lot. In 1947 upon hearing of the UN resolution on the partitioning of the country, they danced in the streets, even though most of the area of Israel was torn from its sovereignty. For brands who survived the fire, it was enough.
The Palestinians and Arab countries, who gained most of the area, refused to accept the UN resolution and began a war to annihilate us. Only three years had passed since the liberation of Auschwitz and again we – the Jews – faced the danger of annihilation. To our joy, 600,000 Jews were victorious over millions of armed Arabs. It appears that justice has power and strength of its own.
IN THE 62 years of our existence, we have had seven wars, thousands of terror attacks, buses which have exploded in streets, firing into schools, mortars fired on kindergartens. Yet you wish to exile us back to the inferno, as if nothing happened 65 years ago in Europe, as if our hands have not been stretched out for peace since the establishment of the state?

We were victorious in the wars imposed upon us by Egypt and we signed a peace agreement with it after yielding all the territory and all the oil. We signed a peace agreement with Jordan. We yielded all the territory and much water. We withdrew from Lebanon to the international border and, in return, we received Hizbullah katyushas on our citizens. We left Gaza and in return, we received massive firing on our citizens in the South. Are you aware, Ms. Thomas, that many children from Sderot and the area around Gaza wet their beds until a late age out of fear of the Hamas missiles? And it is us that you wish to exile? Why? Because you think that we are weak or because it annoys you that we are not defeated?

As someone, who throughout his adult life has been a member of the Israeli “peace camp,” notwithstanding you and your strange and angering views, my friends and I (and I hope also my government) will continue to turn over every stone and scour every corner to attain peace. Peace, which will enable us to the smallest extent to live and our neighbors, the Palestinians, to establish a country and to flourish and prosper. To achieve this, we are prepared to make great concessions, to give back all the territories gained as a result of wars which our neighbors forced on us. There is only one thing we want in return – life. A quiet life, a life without terror, a life without missiles, a life like the one you have in Washington and which I, in Israel, also deserve.

The writer is an adviser to President Shimon Peres.

Swannie,

Since I am not entirely an idiot and do not respect people who talk down to me or abuse me this will be my final response to you. If and when you wish to have a discussion or debate without personal attacks, I will be more than happy to respond.

P.S. It is not because I don’t have an answer, I do. I do not care to be abused by you.

This is yet another anti -semetic meme that will lead to the destruction of Israel and possible war with Iran You don’t even have your facts straight but assume that if the USA just stops backing Israel becasue they are bold enough to defend themselves .
By this logic , if the Tibetans stop fighting for their country they will have peace too .. Oh wait they have no country , CHINA has it..

281

Swannie 06.07.10 at 6:51 pm

Goofs, Too bad you see an honest response as “abuse”. I see ignorance and anti semitism as abuse, and I don’t tolerate it , even when it is disquized as “just political discourse” which it is most decidedly not. And no they are NOT taught the same thing In Israel. UNBELEIVABLE ASSUMPTION American children are in the military , does this mean they are taught HATE ?? Jeeez Louizee

282

invalidresponse 06.07.10 at 6:52 pm

Goofsmom,
Please don’t get me wrong, I do not see Israel as perfect or blameless in multitude of years of “peace process” ..but

1) Hamas does not receive money from the US.. so that would not entice him to participate
and
2) and as for Israel.. if the one that you are attempting to get “peace” with, truely believes that you should not be whipped off the face of the earth, and the act of breathing the same air, is abhorent to to them .. it tends to be a pretty tough to find a beginning point to establish a peaceful co-exsistence

That would be like me going to Uganda and attempting to negotiate with one of the radical anti-gay “pastors” to preform a wedding ceremony for myself and my partner…

I know…I don’t know what should be done either

283

Swannie 06.07.10 at 6:59 pm

FOR GODDESS SAKE! cannot anyone here who wishes participates in a discussion at the very least get the history correct before expounding like Helen Thomas, on what a sovreign democratic country should or should not do?

1. There is only one people on this planet that has ever held
the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean as an
independent political and national entity: The People of Israel.
2. This Jewish country’s capital is Jerusalem.
3. The only people to EVER name Jerusalem as their capital is
the Jewish people.
The Ottomans, Selucids, Assyrians, Persians,
Babylonians, Romans, Mamelukes, Byzantines…
no other people EVER perceived, referred to, claimed,
or named Jerusalem as the capital of their empire.
4. There has never in the history of mankind EVER been a country
known as Palestine, nor any people known as Palestinians.

The Arab refugee problem was created by 7 Arab countries that attacked Israel in 1948. Arab refugees were intentionally not integrated into the Arab lands to which they fled, despite the fact total territory of Arab countries is about 700 times greater than that of Israel. Out of about 100,000,000 refugees since World War II, theirs is the only refugee group in the world that has not been absorbed into their own peoples’ lands.

For over 3,000 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jersusalem has never been the capital of any Arab of Muslim entity. In the Jewish bible, Jerusalem is mentioned over 669 times, and in the Christian bible, it’s mentioned 154 times. Not once is it mentioned in the Koran or the PLO Covenant.

Palestinians are a people held hostage by Hamas , a terrorist organisation .the STATE of palestine ,did not exist, but was the name is the Brits used to refer to the territory they held at the time. That nae is equivalent to other names of the same territory one of which is ISRAEL. Just like the Holocaust deniers, many anti semetics perpetrate this lie that Israel is not the Home of the Jews, and somehow they are interlopers in their own land . That is the danger , of disseminating the falsehood that somehow the Jews are occupying a land that belongs to the “palestinians” to people who do not avail themselves of the truth . And while anyone can and should look up the actual history of the creation of the modern Israel, they really should know by means of general knowledge that Israel is the ancient homeland of the Jews , and that there has been a continuous presence there since that time.

Swannie 06.07.10 at 6:51 pm
the over all tone and at the very least the following two sentences, justify abuse much more then “honest response”

“…read your history”
“( gee let me use a word you might understand ) ”

just my rare to be humble opinion

285

goofsmom 06.07.10 at 7:00 pm

Swannie

#281 – You do not know me yet you paint me with a brush of abuse. I do not have to tolerate it from you or anyone else. I had family in those same concentration camps. I had family who suffered, lost their lands, livelihood and life. Do you think the UN will give us our country back. Our country doesn’t even exist anymore, it has a different name and was under communist rule.

My family died side by side with the Jewish families that died. Back up before you start calling people names when you don’t know them.

286

FLBarbara 06.07.10 at 7:12 pm

HI Goofsmom
Phone is on and off, sorry.
Not sure of what is taught in school in
Israel…so I can’t comment. As I said, I do know the hatred taught by the Hamas terrorists in schools.
Not sure but are you saying that military training that is required of all citizens of Israel is like that of Hate teachings?

Does anyone believe that Islam
wants PEACE with the US?

PEACE is not what they want they want to destroy
Everyone that is not Muslim, that’s Jihad…they will continue to wage their
War till they Conquer the world.

287

invalidresponse 06.07.10 at 7:15 pm

ok, as much as I don’t mind having this conversation, I am backing out… I feel a bit uncomfortable with the aggressive nature put forth by Swannie, and although SOME what she is arguing I might agree with.. I’ll be damned if I will allow myself to be a part of some kind of a tag team attack against Goofsmom … nope not my style…

288

goofsmom 06.07.10 at 7:22 pm

FLBarbara,

#286 – Understood. I do not believe that Islam is a religion of peace and love.

Preparing for war constantly, being under attack, or the threat of attack would make it difficult for most to not have a hatred of those threatening and attacking them. That is what I was refering too.

289

goofsmom 06.07.10 at 7:24 pm

See ya later invalid…

290

Swannie 06.07.10 at 7:25 pm

Well then goofs, you of all people should understand , that if your people were to have their country back as is their RIGHT ,, that they would also have every right to defend themselves , and I certainly wish they would. Tyranny is responsible, not people who fight to survive.

291

goofsmom 06.07.10 at 7:29 pm

Swannie 06.07.10 at 7:37 pm

Of course it does, and if I have come off as “agressive” , it was not my intention. I have almost left this blog for the day to day bickering and arguing that goes on here . But i am here to tell you that nothing , absolutely nothing will get me going like anti semitism, and especially anti- semitism by way of ignorance .
Can I tell you a story? I am a natural blonde , blue eyed Italian/ Jewish Woman. Many years ago ;when I was working at John Hopkins Hospital as an LPN private duty while I was going back to school for my R.N. ; I took care of a man who was then the Minister of Communications of Saudi Arabia. His son was a constant companion , and slept in the room with his father , so during quiet moments when his very ill father was sleeping we spoke quietly . He did not know and I did not tell him of my Jewish heritage . He assumed because of my appearance he could tell me things . One day he spoke of Israel. He looked right into my eyes and said, IN FIVE YEARS THERE WILL BE NO ISRAEL . I have not, nor will I ever forget . So even tho many more than five years have passed since then ..I have not forgotten the objective .

296

goofsmom 06.07.10 at 7:37 pm

FLBarbara,

#293 – Absolutely. I will be the first to admit that I have learned a lot from discussions and debates on the blog.

pertinent paragraph Between the time of the Israelite kingdoms and the 7th-century Muslim conquests, the Land of Israel fell under Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Greek, Roman, Sassanian, and Byzantine rule.[12][36] Jewish presence in the region dwindled after the failure of the Bar Kokhba revolt against the Roman Empire in 132 CE.[37] Nevertheless, a continuous Jewish presence in the Land of Israel remained, with the Jewish religious center moving to the Galilee.[38][39] The Mishnah and part of the Talmud, central Jewish texts, were composed during the 2nd to 4th centuries CE in Tiberias and Jerusalem.[40] Following years of persecution at the hands of Byzantine rulers, the Jews revolted in 610 CE, allying themselves with the Persian invaders; capturing Jerusalem, the Persians and Jews killed many thousands of Christians and destroyed many churches.[41] recapturing Jerusalem in 628/9 CE, Byzantine Emperor Heraclius conducted a massacre and expulsion of the Jews.[42][43] The Land of Israel was then captured from the Byzantine Empire around 635 CE during the initial Muslim conquests.[44] Control of the region transferred between the Umayyads,[44] Abbasids,[44] and Crusaders over the next six centuries,[44] before falling in the hands of the Mamluk Sultanate, in 1260.[45] In 1516, the Land of Israel was conquered by the Ottoman Empire, which ruled the region until the 20th century.[45]

HEADLINE: (wish I knew hold to make this bold type)

Study: Children of Lesbians May Do Better Than Their Peers

cliff notes:
17-year study period

154 women in 84 families

children raised by lesbian mothers — whether the mother was partnered or single — scored very similarly to children raised by heterosexual parents on measures of development and social behavior. These findings were expected, the authors said; however, they were surprised to discover that children in lesbian homes scored higher than kids in straight families on some psychological measures of self-esteem and confidence, did better academically and were less likely to have behavioral problems, such as rule-breaking and aggression.

The tag team effect (or that feeling to me) comes in when one or more from either side, instead of countering with just points, and opinions chooses to belittle their opponent or aggressively insists that “their” view point is the only viewpoint and that anyone not agreeing with “them” is “less than”..while having said viewpoint, backed up by others.

I just choose to not be an “others”.. to a “them”

I hope that was significantly confusing…. ;)

It would be a start if POTUS was capable of righteous anger and became the much vaunted and never delivered Transformative President. But he is not, so he won’t…. my stating that offers nothing to the solution, other than to reassure my friends with kool-aid recovery meetings to attend, that when they get over it, and him, we will all still be here, with a big flipping mess of things. So we have W’s Mess, now 0′s mess, and it adds up to decades of undoing it all.

Joran Van der Sloot Confesses to killing Peruvian woman…

NBC News and news services
updated 37 minutes ago
LIMA, Peru – A high-ranking Peruvian government official confirmed to NBC News Monday night that Joran van der Sloot confessed to the slaying of a 21-year-old Lima woman.

According to La Republica newspaper, he said that his anger exploded and he broke Stephany Flores’ neck after she grabbed his laptop without his permission, and found out that he was involved in the disappearance of an American woman.

The paper quoted Van der Sloot as saying, “I did not want to do it. The girl intruded into my private life.”

WASHINGTON — President Obama and his allies, concerned about deep skepticism over his landmark health care overhaul, are orchestrating an elaborate campaign to sell the public on the law, including a new tax-exempt group that will spend millions of dollars on advertising to beat back attacks on the measure and Democrats who voted for it.

Americans will see the first evidence of the public relations offensive on Tuesday, when Mr. Obama travels to Wheaton, Md., to conduct a nationally televised question-and-answer session with older citizens to trumpet one of the law’s most popular features: $250 rebate checks to help Medicare beneficiaries pay for prescription drugs.

The president will have plenty of help. A veritable army of outside groups — including an ambitious new initiative by Anita Dunn, Mr. Obama’s former communications director, and Andrew Grossman, a top Democratic strategist who spent 2009 coordinating advocacy groups in support of the overhaul — are orchestrating campaigns to echo the White House message.

The Dunn-Grossman effort, a pair of related tax-exempt groups to be run by Mr. Grossman, hopes to raise $25 million from unions, foundations, corporations and Democratic donors to build a Washington-based operation with a staff of as many as 15 researchers, communications strategists and policy experts. They will run an advocacy campaign that will last until after the law is fully put into place in 2014.

#228 WBD,
the problem with their “Religion” – there is no “separation” of their Religion and Law – they are one and the same.
——–
Careful “pot” you are teetering on calling the kettle black.. ie.. if not for religious beliefs and their power in government, me as a lesbian would have all the rights and freedoms that str8’s take for granted… not a lot of difference on this side of the pond… we just cover it up it a tiny bit better. We might “talk the talk, but walking is an entirely different story.
____

I think my point with “one and the same” regarding Islamic Religion and Shari’a Law is that Shari’a Law was written to enforce even the most extreme elements of the religion, from what I understand. There is no dividing line whatsoever.

I believe the Constitution and Bill of Rights made an attempt to establish government by and for “the people” – and an effort to constructing laws based upon those principles – as opposed to laws based solely upon a single, religious ideology.

For what it’s worth, goofs, to me it seemed as if Swannie’s impatience was with the people who *rely* on the general ignorance on the history of Israel in order to spread their false memes. It didn’t seem as if she were blaming “you and the people ignorant of the history” for being misinformed — she was blaming the people who prey on that ignorance. I could be wrong, but I seem to recognize that, because people get mad at me all the time for the same thing…when I have no patience for certain rightwing memes, people think I am attacking them. Just my two cents, but I hope they help! :)

377

Zee 06.08.10 at 9:57 am

I also wish that ignorance and uninformed weren’t viewed as insults per se. I am *willfully* ignorant on Israel because it’s a huge investment to learn up on any issue…and then you have to argue with uninformed people! Think how ignorant the Obots are, and how long it would take to catch them up. I’m grateful for FL Barbara’s and other posts on the history of Israel and I’m almost tempted to read up, but I just can’t. I do love the native American references, tho, goofs, and they can cut both ways. Anyone who isn’t ready to go back to Europe or wherever they came from and give the US back to the natives can stfu about Israel being “given back” to the Palestinians. I think it’s a shame about Helen Thomas, but she dug her own grave, same as Sandra Day OConnor did…and they tainted their own legacies. In both of their cases it was they themselves who soiled their own honored positions…it wasn’t sexism.

379

Zee 06.08.10 at 10:02 am

More on #376 ….if I’m right about Swannie, it’s because when a person is passionate about a topic, she’s thinking about that topic, not about insulting the person she’s talking to….if that makes sense. She would be saying the same thing to anyone. At least that’s how I have experienced it.

Also, regarding Israel not existing in 5 years…Swannie, I’ve heard that same depressing prediction from American Jews who have lived in Israel.

380

Zee 06.08.10 at 10:11 am

Well….here is an example of how moronic Islamic law continues to be. You can’t make this crap up! Saudi clerics are demanding that adult women provide breast milk to men…only they can’t decide on how the breast milk should be spooned over:

http://www.aolnews.com/world/article/saudi-clerics-advocate-adult-breast-feeding/19504280

Sheikh Al Obeikan, an adviser to the royal court and consultant to the Ministry of Justice, set off a firestorm of controversy recently when he said on TV that women who come into regular contact with men who aren’t related to them ought to give them their breast milk so they will be considered relatives.

“The man should take the milk, but not directly from the breast of the woman,” Al Obeikan … made the statement after being asked on TV about a 2007 fatwa issued by an Egyptian scholar about adult breast-feeding, said that the breast milk ought to be pumped out and given to men in a glass…. his remarks were followed by an announcement by another high-profile sheik, Abi Ishaq Al Huwaini, who said that men should suckle the breast milk directly from a woman’s breast.

…But under Islamic law, breast milk siblings have to be breastfed before the age of 2 in five “fulfilling” sessions. Islam prohibits sexual relations between a man and any woman who breastfed him in infancy. They are then allowed to be alone together when the man is an adult because he is not considered a potential mate.

“The whole issue just shows how clueless men are,” blogger Eman Al Nafjan wrote on her website. “All this back and forth between sheiks and not one bothers to ask a woman if it’s logical, let alone possible to breastfeed a grown man five fulfilling breast milk meals….Moreover, the thought of a huge hairy face at a woman’s breast does not evoke motherly or even brotherly feelings.”

It’s a huge investment… it can be or not so much. It’s important to me because it seems that very similar issues are playing out in our own backyard now – American soil – from 9/11 to the Mosque.

It shouldn’t be difficult to understand Israel’s unending lack of “homeland” security and Palestine’s HAMAS’ use of ‘terroristic hate’ in its unending game of infusing its presence to gain dominance.

Yes, our own backyard for sure.
The goal of Hamas as stated in their charter is to “raise the flag of Allah in Palestine”
Is not that the goal of Islam world wide?

IF “Israel were to pack up their bags and go home” as suggested and the flag of Allah flies over Palestine where does that leave the US?
Would Islamic Jihadists stop terrorizing the US? Since Islams goal is to dominate the globe I don’t believe so.
I am worried about the US and when I hear mosques being built at ground zero and people saying its “no big deal let them have the land where the burlington coat factory was destroyed on 911″
Its not about land it’s about how they got the land and what they want to do with the land, and it’s about why they want the land and where is the next land and when does it end?

wbd…yes, if only the Islamic men were merely “moronic” or “clueless.” But if you read the article I link to they mention flogging a 75 year old woman for having bread delivered…and jailing the men who delivered the bread. One of the men tried to claim he had been breastfed by the woman years earlier, so he was a “breastfed sibling” — but they couldn’t “prove it.” So I guess all the elderly women too old to still pump milk from their breasts have to do without bread delivery. ORRRRRRRRRRRR, they could try something less psychotic and just let delivery men and fire men do their jobs even if it means coming into contact with unrelated women! You know, without lunatic “technicalities” such as drinking their breast milk.

http://www.nativetimes.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3699:confusion-mistrust-remains-in-indian-land-redress&catid=51&Itemid=27

KIMA, Washington (AP) – Shirley Butterfly DeVolve inherited 52 acres (21 hectares) on Montana’s vast Blackfeet Indian Reservation when her father died in 1980.

The problem is, a part of an acre (hectare) is on this ridge, a fraction of an acre (hectare) in that valley, one-hundredth of an acre here and there. Dozens of relatives own tiny adjacent parcels, making it difficult for anyone to use or sell the land.

DeVolve, 57, has a map of the parcels, much of it leased for decades by the federal Bureau of Indian Affairs to private interests for cattle grazing. But the federal government – which serves as trustee for some 56 million acres (22.66 million hectares) of land owned by tens of thousands of American Indians and Alaska Natives – seldom sent checks, DeVolve said.

She remembers her father, Charles Butterfly, asking when she was very young, “Where’s our money?”

That question went to the heart of the massive class-action lawsuit against the federal government that dragged on for 14 years before resulting in a $3.4 billion settlement that the U.S. House of Representatives approved Friday.

Filed by lead plaintiff Elouise Cobell of Browning, Montana, in 1996, the suit represents between 300,000 and 500,000 Indian landowners in almost every U.S. state.

The settlement must still be accepted the Senate. A Cobell spokesman said Friday that the parties had agreed to extend until June 15 the May 28 deadline for approval mandated by a federal court.

Even as outlined, the deal created broad confusion, anger and lingering resentment across Indian Country.

The suit alleged the government mismanaged Indians’ trust assets, swindling them out of billions of dollars in royalty payments for oil, gas, timber, grazing and other leases.

Some residents of Indian Country have worried the agreement might still fall apart, while others say it is unjust and want no part of it.

In DeVolve’s case, she has an old filing cabinet in her crowded Yakima living room containing decades worth of papers regarding her parcels. What has happened with her family’s land, as it has with that of many others, the government calls “fractionation.” It’s the dilution of the original allotment as it passed in ownership through succeeding generations.

“It’s hard,” DeVolve said. “I try to get it straight in my head and by the end of the night I just have a headache.”

But she has a clear metaphor for what she thinks has happened over the decades.

The Indian trust money was a hen house, and the fox appointed itself guard of the chickens, she said.

Zee, thank you .. what frustrates and frightens me so very much ,when it comes to Israel, is that the MIS INFORMATION WAR IS part and parcel of the anti-semite and anti Israel War of the Islamist countries who want to annhilate Isreal and all Jews. It is EXACTLY , YES EXACTLY the same kind of propaganda that was spread in Germany to incite people against the Jews and keep them from acting in their behalf. It is the same kind of misinformation war and propaganda ( remember the “she should just drop out” campaign) that I thought the people here SAW THRU when it was aimed at Hillary . To come here to a place I considered safe, and find people actually buying into the propaganda , or pretending it deoesnt matter because it is all just political discourse, and has no consequences, is FRIGHTENING TO ME .
Are people not aware of the history of these events to the extent they may possibly be repeated? Also frightening . Are people not aware of the Islam connection withe Nazis and the original nazi connection ? and their collusion with them for the FINAL SOLUTION ( which for those who do not know is the extermination of the entire Jewish people. ) Google

Zee 06.08.10 at 2:25 pm

Swannie, #399

That’s what is always most frightening. Even people who are aware of propaganda in one realm can be susceptible in another realm. Thus it was with Obots. One of my most progressive friends is Jewish and she constantly was at odds with the “antiwar” crowd’s susceptibility to anti-Israel rhetoric. And yet, despite anything I said to her she remains to this day an Obot!!!!

I know one day her eyes will be open. But, sadly, the anti-Israeli rhetoric has almost no pushback on the left. The thing overlooked by the left is that Israel had an electoral takeover very similar to ours. But…again, not blaming people —after all, in Europe they’re not following us that closely and that’s why they think it’s all jim-dandy that we elected fraudbama.

Catsden has an excellent post on the history of British Petroleum – Britain and the Iran oil connection:

“Unbelievable WBD”

I don’t know which story your are referring to, Swannie, but both make my head spin.

The following BP, Britain, U.S. and British Petroleum story shows me how deft I am when it comes to certain history and how that “KILLER OIL” pouring into the Gulf is more valuable than any person, place or country:

Excerpted from an interview with Stephen Kinzer, author of All the Shah’s Men: An American Coup and the Roots of Middle East Terror.

“What happened was that in the first half of the twentieth century, Americans had a super good image in Iran. The only Americans there were doctors and school teachers and people who really were selflessly devoting themselves to Iranians.

Meanwhile, the British and the Russians and the French and other colonial powers were ripping Iran apart and stealing and looting everything of value there. So they, people in Iran, had a very high, exalted opinion of the United States, perfect country, the ideal country. And the words of Franklin Roosevelt in all his radio speeches during the Second World War also had a big impact on Iranians. And, of course, there was a big World War II conference in Tehran that just focused Iranians on the ideals of freedom that the Allied powers said they were fighting for.

So in the period after World War II, Iranian nationalism came to focus on one great cause. At the beginning of the twentieth century, as a result of a corrupt deal with the old dying monarchy, one British company, owned mainly by the British government, had taken control of the entire Iranian oil industry. This one company had the exclusive rights to extract, refine, ship and sell Iranian oil, and they paid Iran a very tiny amount. But essentially the entire Iranian oil resource was owned by a company based in England and owned mainly by the British government. That was Anglo-Iranian Petroleum, later to become British Petroleum and BP.”

P.S. Our role in pissing Iranians off comes after the above excerpt in that story.

Just a word of caution about putting too much stock in skimmers, there is a difference between a spill at the surface and a gusher coming up from a mile under the surface. Especially if they are adding dispersants.

The best way to submit a technical idea to BP is to fill out the following form, so they do not have to think too much. Apparently they are too overwhelmed to get back to anyone on what they decide, but it is worth a shot:

I put one in for bioremediation and our the Well Kill Team.

This is a reply from BP to a some questions I sent them about what they were doing:

The following inquiry was submitted to Florida Gulf Response on

From : Andrew Dando
Date : 06/08/10 05:50

Dear Ms. PUMA
Thank you for your questions.

Unified Command is considering all options for mitigating both the
response and clean-up efforts. More than 20,000 ideas have been
proposed to date.

Given this quantity of technical proposals we are not able to provide
specific technical information or answer any individual questions above
what is already available on the response website.

If you have any concepts or ideas that could help solve the problem
then please share them with us. This can be done by going to the
following link and following instructions for submission:
