Sister Margaret McBride is an evil, evil woman. She helped save a 27 year old mother of four's life. For that she was "automatically excommunicated."
From Nicholas Kristof this morning:
“Sister Margaret was a senior administrator of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix. A 27-year-old mother of four arrived late last year, in her third month of pregnancy. According to local news reports and accounts from the hospital and some of its staff members, the mother suffered from a serious complication called pulmonary hypertension. That created a high probability that the strain of continuing pregnancy would kill her.
“In this tragic case, the treatment necessary to save the mother’s life required the termination of an 11-week pregnancy,” the hospital said in a statement. “This decision was made after consultation with the patient, her family, her physicians, and in consultation with the Ethics Committee.”
Sister Margaret was a member of that committee. She declined to discuss the episode with me, but the bishop of Phoenix, Thomas Olmstead, ruled that Sister Margaret was “automatically excommunicated” because she assented to an abortion.”
Priests who rape children? Not even kicked out of the priesthood. Pedophile priests are never excommunicated. In fact many of the sickos appeal to the bishop to allow them to maintain their “priestly dignity” once their disgusting practices come to light. And usually the bishops agree.
You can call, fax, or email the Bishop of Phoenix, Thomas Olmsted, and tell him that his actions are both despicable and enlightening. We now know how much a woman’s life is valued by the hierarchy of the church. Terminating an 11-week embryo is apparently more of a sin than murdering a young mother and orphaning her four children. What a scumbag.
Priests suck.

SEIU thugs terrorize 14-year old boy inside home, then turn their sexism on the female neighbor (Nina Easton) who dared report about their tactics
http://money.cnn.com/2010/05/19/news/companies/SEIU_Bank_of_America_protest.fortune/index.htm
Last Sunday, on a peaceful, sun-crisp afternoon, our toddler finally napping upstairs, my front yard exploded with 500 screaming, placard-waving strangers on a mission to intimidate my neighbor, Greg Baer. Baer is deputy general counsel for corporate law at Bank of America (BAC, Fortune 500), a senior executive based in Washington, D.C. And that — in the minds of the organizers at the politically influential Service Employees International Union and a Chicago outfit called National Political Action — makes his family fair game.
Waving signs denouncing bank “greed,” hordes of invaders poured out of 14 school buses, up Baer’s steps, and onto his front porch. As bullhorns rattled with stories of debtor calls and foreclosed homes, Baer’s teenage son Jack — alone in the house — locked himself in the bathroom. “When are they going to leave?” Jack pleaded when I called to check on him.

Him: “The media has blown this all out of proportion… she should have called someone before she did what she did…”
Me: She consulted with the board, doctors, family…
Him: “But, there’s consequences for our sins…”
Me: Sin? She saved an adult life of a mother of 4 children… in a medical crisis – the church is judging her and punishing her for saving one life rather than aiding in the most certain death of two?
Him: “This wasn’t Bishop Olmsted’s decision – he is abiding by the rules- the canons of the church… we must abide by them or there are consequences for our sins… please hold own…”
Back on: … “I’m sorry… She can find redemption and reconciliation through confession… Would you like to speak with the Bishop’s secretary?”
Me: Yes… then repeated my support for Sister McBride and objection to the church’ position on this issue that equates to “2 lives must die – not just one”
Her: “I’ll pass it on to the Bishop”… Click.

The Pretender is giving a speech on oil spill.
Says the problem is that “the Leak is hard to stop because it is so far down where NO HUMAN can reach”
Therefore he will dive down there and plug it with bullshit.
He will then fly over the ocean and by spreading his arms he will part the ocean and separate the oil from the water.
He will then appeal to his inner self to heal the mammals and animals.

Sadly, we thought the oil spewing out of the Gulf of Mexico was going to be the worst disaster of our time. But this morning, Oplugmybutt gave a speech that spewed so much bullshit that the tidal wave of shit drowned 2 million Americans in the immediate area. The ones hardest hit were the “Obots” who stood praying at the feet of the president, wide-eyed and drooling on themselves as the shit started to flow.

In short: The reason we are not seeing the equivalent of the volume of oil being released into the gulf on the surface of the water and on land – it’s being emulsified into small particles into the water, and concentrating in “plumes” in depths we cannot see.
They should have started this “Top Kill” immediately – to save the ocean first – and the shorelines would have also been largely spared.
Screw whether they had failed to install back-up safety equipment or didn’t have the plan in place to dome it in the event of failure. They had the knowledge to kill it and they had the Scientific evidence on WHY they needed to kill it as quickly as possible.
It’s criminal what they ALL have done to those waters, lives, eco-systems and environment.

Dances, the dots are beginning to connect.
I have suspected for weeks that this was going to be one big massive propaganda machine – attempting to tell us that what we’re “seeing” isn’t what we already know.
This event has been sitting under the surface of thos waters for a long time. “Witnesses testified that BP started pumping salt-water into the well, to cut corners within 24 hours of the explosion.
They’ve been “cutting corners” and strong-arming safety regulators from the beginning of construction of that well and the Atlantis well too.
They are just “too big” to give a shit. After all, the only relationship they have to the Gulf – in the Gulf – is money.

Warning – dissertation from WBD on the now visible plumes:
First clue, imo. As the men in the msnbc video state, no one has ever been able to get the estimated, verses the actual, visible volume measurements to work on a 21″ split, even with the 3 smaller leaks 1/10th the largest one’s size.
Where is all that Crude coming from? I’m no engineer, arithmetician or scientist, but I can tell you this – their fricking lying through their teeth about what is happening, in my opinion (“imo” is my legal disclaimer).
Next clue: They poured almost a million gallons of the highest toxic level of dispersant into the Gulf waters and refused to stop after it was learned that far-less toxic dispersant(s) were available. They were ordered to cease its use and ignored the deadline! Why? To break it up into smaller, less visible particles – regardless of its toxicity and certain death to marine life, wildlife and wetlands.
Keep in mind, from my understanding of what I’ve read, the BOP’s (Blow-Out Preventer) location – where we are seeing the video of the leaks and work being done – is 300 feet above where the core – source – is actually being tapped into.
300 feet is 220 feet deeper than I could safely scuba dive. It is unimaginable to me the distance the pipe goes below the BOP. It’s unknown to us what lies beneath – especially given the estimates of the size of the oil field they’ve tapped and the amount of pressure of the flow.

By GREG BLUESTEIN and BEN NUCKOLS, Associated Press Writers Greg Bluestein And Ben Nuckols, Associated Press Writers – 11 mins ago
ROBERT, La. – As BP labored for a second day Thursday to choke off the leak at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, dire new government estimates showed the disaster has easily eclipsed the Exxon Valdez as the biggest oil spill in U.S. history.
The company said early in the day that the operation known as a “top kill” was continuing, but announced later that it had been suspended since around midnight Wednesday so crews could bring in more heavy drilling mud to shoot into the blown-out well 5,000 feet underwater.
The top kill was expected to resume Thursday night, but it could be late Friday or the weekend before the company knows if it has cut off the oil that has been flowing for five weeks.
BP insisted the top kill was progressing as planned, though the company acknowledged drilling mud was escaping from the broken pipe along with the leaking crude.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_gulf_oil_spill
DancesWithPumas 05.27.10 at 8:02 pm
Those two experts said the pipe is 22 inches OD, 21 inches inside diameter. I liked their suggestion of using ‘silly pipe’ (very flexible. Commonly used in landscape watering systems) to pipe the crude oil to tankers at the surface.
Seems BP could use a sleeve (another pipe (even silly pipe)inside the damaged pipe)and utilize the temp repair while they contain and store the crude oil.
Are they not saying a thing about the other plume??? Why not?
“Obama is being misinformed and is a good guy”???
Then why isnt oblablah informing himself? Oh, right, because he hasnt pbeen to chicago in 6 months and that takes priority because he is one to keep his promises. Kick that sack o crap to the curb and get a head of cabbage to substitute for him as president… no one would even notice. (No offense to cabbage).

The relief wells should have been BP’s first order of business. Every available resource of industry and government should have pushed that from the start. Without the relief wells, plugging the BP mess is understandably difficult. It is like trying to stick your finger in the leak on a dam. Here is a good diagram:
http://www.ogfj.com/index/article-display/1883263460/articles/oil-gas-financial-journal/e-__p/offshore/bp-begins_second_relief.html
The rig exploded on April 21 and the drilling of the first relief well did not start until May 2.
What also hacks me off is the lack of mitigation of the spilled oil. That’s where you need a leader to step up and direct resources. Considering the unemployment rate, there is no excuse for it. They should be sucking it up at the source and cleaning up what escapes. There is a whole variety of skill levels required. The government should just pay and collect from BP.
It is a massive project and needs a director. Hillary would have handled it. Kick ass on the relief wells and suck up the rest. No Bull.
Estimates are currently at 20-40 million gallons (Valdez was 11 million). They are making excuses that Mexico spilled 140 million gallons in the gulf in 1979. If they cannot plug it without the relief wells, then we may beat their record.
Limp dick Obama is whining about how worried he is.

Do you think the responders are real? Maybe its a bunch of Obots doing a spoof – like our “hound” prowl that we did one night on Gov Rendell’s site when he came out in support of Obama and was spoofing chasing pumas? You think?
So funny! (I hope they’re not real responders)

Glad to make you all happy with good news.
On another note, I keep having a vision of Nobama, striking his puffed up chest, declaring : MAKE NO MISTAKE, I AM IN CHARGE. I AM THE PRESIDENT.
I HAVE BEEN IN CHARGE OF THE OIL SPILL SINCE DAY ONE.
How did this sorry assed person dupe his way into the presidency ? I keep asking myself. Make no mistake, he is the mistake !

Any word on the theory of another, larger, gusher somewhere out there in the Gulf?
—-
DWP: I just found that article and the link that started my real sense of dread for what was not being revealed – it was written on 5/19 and is still accessible.
It was written 9 days ago and “the plumes” and “larger volumes of oil than being reported, in multiple layers, deep below the surface” were starting to surface then.
Remember the article where NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) is almost discounting Research done by their own funded research of “The Pelican” team that I posted at # 22:
Well, here is the more extensive article from 5/19 about those “plumes” and “layers of oil, that NOAA was refuting, that are now being confirmed.
Interestingly, this article also reveals at the very end: “BP has turned down requests to have researchers use special equipment to measure the actual amount of oil being hurled throughout the Gulf.”
See what you think, as far as suggestion of an even greater leak(s) somewhere:

I had a (long) call from a political surveyor tonight. Multiple choice answers re: Jerry Brown vs. Meg Whitman for governor. Oy.
Knowing that Brown volunteered and worked with Mother Teresa feeding the hungry and infirm in India would make you:
1) More likely to vote for him
2) Less Likely
a) strongly
b) mildly
c) you don’t care.

What we had, and What we lost…
Posted on May 27, 2010 by Wonk the Vote:
It’s excellent! She posted a video of Hillary going off script in an interview today:
“Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made a rare foray into domestic politics today, offering her view that — given America’s high unemployment — wealthy Americans don’t pay enough taxes.
“The rich are not paying their fair share in any nation that is facing the kind of employment issues [America currently does] — whether it’s individual, corporate or whatever [form of] taxation forms,” Clinton told an audience at the Brookings Institution, where she was discussing the Administration’s new National Security Strategy.”

Excerpt:
When you try to dodge ownership of a problem, when you try to hide from responsibility, life will give you ownership and responsibility the hard way. In any case, the strategy was always a little mad. Americans would never think an international petroleum company based in London would worry as much about American shores and wildlife as, say, Americans would. They were never going to blame only BP, or trust it.
NikkisMom 05.28.10 at 8:58 am
sorry, left off this part of the Noonan’s article:
What continues to fascinate me is Mr. Obama’s standing with Democrats. They don’t love him. Half the party voted for Hillary Clinton, and her people have never fully reconciled themselves to him. But he is what they have. They are invested in him. In time—after the 2010 elections go badly—they are going to start to peel off. The political operative James Carville, the most vocal and influential of the president’s Gulf critics, signaled to Democrats this week that they can start to peel off. He did it through the passion of his denunciations.

Sestak says his brother, White House met about alleged job offer
Friday, May 28, 2010
Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) said Thursday his brother has spoken with White House officials about the congressman’s allegation that he was offered an Obama administration job if he would stay out of a Democratic Senate primary.
Sestak ran in, and won, that primary, defeating the White House’s preferred candidate, Sen. Arlen Specter.
He told reporters Thursday that he would not expand upon his prior statements until the White House releases its report on the matter. President Obama said in his news conference such a report would come “shortly.”

Counterterror Adviser Defends Jihad as ‘Legitimate Tenet of Islam’
The president’s top counterterrorism adviser on Wednesday called jihad a “legitimate tenet of Islam,” arguing that the term “jihadists” should not be used to describe America’s enemies.
During a speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, John Brennan described violent extremists as victims of “political, economic and social forces,” but said that those plotting attacks on the United States should not be described in “religious terms.”
He repeated the administration argument that the enemy is not “terrorism,” because terrorism is a “tactic,” and not terror, because terror is a “state of mind” — though Brennan’s title, deputy national security adviser for counterterrorism and homeland security, includes the word “terrorism” in it. But then Brennan said that the word “jihad” should not be applied either.
“Nor do we describe our enemy as ‘jihadists’ or ‘Islamists’ because jihad is a holy struggle, a legitimate tenet of Islam, meaning to purify oneself or one’s community, and there is nothing holy or legitimate or Islamic about murdering innocent men, women and children,” Brennan said.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/05/27/counterterror-adviser-defends-jihad-legitimate-tenet-islam/?test=latestnews
Brennan: “Nor do we describe our enemy as jihadists or Islamists because jihad is a holy struggle, a legitimate tenet of Islam meaning to purify oneself and one’s community.”
Fact: (written by Michael Scheurer here: http://non-intervention.com/) This statement can only be described as a bald lie meant to mislead Americans. In the Koran and the sayings and traditions of the Prophet Muhammad references to jihad are overwhelmingly martial, and the war that is waged when conditions for a defensive jihad are met — as they are today — amounts nearly to a form of worship. Those who support Brennan’s point rely on a supposed saying of the Prophet that a personal jihad is more important than a military jihad to defend Islam and Muslims. That saying has utterly failed to pass Islam’s very stringent process for verifying the accuracy of sayings attributed to the Prophet, and it has been rejected outright by leading Islamic scholars.
Obama and his elite colleagues trying to remake the world in their elitist image. Regardless of the financial, human, and security costs to the rest of us non-elite Americans and our soldier-children, Obama and Brennan are ready and eager to shoulder a burden likely to ruin America.
———
Michael Scheurer, the head of the CIA’s bin Laden hunt group, said that in 1998 they arranged an operational hit on bin Laden, but John Brennan stopped it.
“…it hurts morale even more because one of the officers who got killed had arranged an operation in 1998 that would have killed or captured Osama bin Laden. And Mr. Brennan was instrumental in preventing that operation from occurring. Instead he said the Americans should trust the Saudis to take care of bin Laden.” – Scheurer

Bill Clinton was the go-between….haha, the White House doesn’t know what was said because they sent Clinton! Also, oddly, “senior party officials” began courting Sestak to run the minute Arlen switched parties.
So Sestak had some backing…just maybe not the WH…

http://www.businessinsider.com/disorganized-white-house-cant-even-get-the-friday-news-dump-right-2010-5
And now they can’t even get the Friday news dump right.
See, a mini-mini scandal in Pennsylvania has been going on. Joe Sestak, the Democrat who beat Arlen Specter in the primary has claimed that The White House tried to bribe him with a plum job in exchange for dropping out of the race.
The White House has been slow in acknowledging the claim. But today the New York Times reported that Rahm Emanuel, via Bill Clinton, had offered Sestak some kind of unpaid advisory job in exchange for dropping out. We’re really confused about the unpaid part, but the whole thing looks a tad unseemly.
NikkisMom 05.28.10 at 10:35 am
Zee!!!
This might mean the end of Rahm Emanuel!!
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/05/28/white-house-used-bill-clinton-to-ask-sestak-to-drop-out-of-race/?hp
Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff, asked Mr. Clinton to explore the possibilities last summer, according to the briefed individuals, who insisted on anonymity to discuss the politically charged situation. Mr. Sestak said no and went on to win last week’s Pennsylvania Democratic primary against Senator Arlen Specter.
The White House did not offer Mr. Sestak a full-time paid position because Mr. Emanuel wanted him to stay in the House rather than risk losing his seat. Among the positions explored by the White House was an appointment to the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, which provides independent oversight and advice the president. But White House officials discovered it would not work because Mr. Sestak could not serve on the board while still serving in Congress.

What to Eat on a $17,600 Date With the President
President Obama hosts a star studded dinner at the Getty mansion with a menu to match
So what does $92,000 an hour buy you in food? If you’re President Barack Obama it gets you a plate full of hors d’oeuvres, a salad and ribs.
Mr. Obama’s 19-hour whirlwind Bay Area fundraising trip filled Sen. Barbara Boxer’s wallet with $1.75 million and he used a $17,600 a person dinner at the Getty Mansion in San Francisco to bring in the big bucks.
The president’s 80 dinner guests were treated to an elaborate meal prepared by chef Jennifer Johnson, according to SF Gate, who got the scoop on the menu.
Diners were treated to quail egg with caviar and salmon ceviche with jicama and avocado on a tortilla chip
as their starting hors d’oeuvres. Next they were served a spring onion-asparagus tartlet with Meyer lemon vinaigrette-dressed frisee salad.
The main course was braised Kobe beef short ribs with potato puree and a salsa verde-topped spring vegetable ragout. And the evening was topped off with buckwheat crepes with roasted cherries and almond ice cream.
Of course guests were given the opportunity to smile and take a picture with their favorite fundraising president. Worth the $17,600 price tag?

MAKE NO MISTAKE !! I am in charge ! I am the President of the United States!
Wonking ass… if you constantly have to remind the world about this, what does that tell you. Clueless, spineless swine Mr. President, Sir….
That was my last thought all night before I drifted off to sleep.

lol, FL Barbara! My French student is leaving this weekend, so tonight on the menu is clam chowda, because she’s yet to have it after two months in New England. (Don’t get me started…she made and went out for nothing but French cuisine the entire time, except for once when she had chili and homemade southern cornbread here!)
Onion sauteed in premium bacon grease (bacon reserved and crumbled)
Diced Californian white potatoes and corn freshly sliced off the cob,
layered with Maine whole and chopped clams, simmered till tender
Milk and cream swirled with melted butter, brought to just below simmer
Combine ingredients, add plenty of sea salt, black pepper and bacon bits
Serve with hot Southern corn bread, cucumber salad and Californian wine.
Grocery bill for 3: under $64.

From your link, Briffault also said you could argue the opposite, that it’s not covered…whatever, the maximum punishment is *up to* one year in prison, and it’s NOT gonna happen. After all, it was treason to out an operative working for our national security and nothing more than an underling getting community service happened for that when Bush Cheney outed the CIA NOC whose specialty was weapons of mass destruction.

Nice of BP to wait until after the Photo Op to sort of, kind of let the public know that “the Top Kill was not going as planned” in fact.
Correction: That government ordered transparency hasn’t bothered to explain this at all:

BTW a bishop can’t do anything about an excommunication – that must come from the Holy See and it probably will get reversed and yes certain things do get you excommunicated. This sister knew that and bravely went forward.
Maybe next you can pass judgement on some other religious laws you don’t agree with and are uneducated about.

TexasTigress 05.29.10 at 7:03 am
McDem – there are several Catholics and recovering Catholics who are active Pumas . I think that pointing out sexism , double standards , hypocrisy , and oppression of women in ANY religion is , and always has been an integral aspect in the Puma movement .
Of course I don’t speak for Murphy or anyone else , but I have been around for awhile and I know that there is not a deliberate conspiracy to disparage any specific religion , but there IS a concentrated mission to call out any and every institution that would sacrifice the lives and the rights of Women at the alter of it’s tenents .
Be it the Catholic Church , Islamic faith, Corporate America , the military , the Democratic party , or the Federal government – they will all be called on the carpet for their crimes and prejudices against Women .
If you think there is no room for improvement in the Catholic Church (which by the way is an institution , not a religion) then you should be content in your assuredness . If you bristle when you see the double standards reflected in the decisions of the church’s leadership then don’t be afraid to SAY SOMETHING .
Taking offenders to task does not make us obots, in fact, it’s exactly what makes us PUMAS .

Yesterday, a co-worker of mine asked me for an assessment of the situation in the Gulf. I had no good news. The whole show is being badly run. BP and Obama both SUCK. Both the petrochemical industry and Obama administration are inept, incompetent and corrupt. Yes, this situation is really at least as bad as we think it is.
To top it off, we work as regulators and the only person fired so far is a woman that has been head of a regulatory agency for 10 months. Now we have a heightened awareness of the importance of having effective regulation that is properly enforced. However, we do not necessarily have the resources and the entities we regulate are all in financial distress, hampering their ability to meet regulations. Good thing I like a challenge, huh?
So what can we do now? People in the middle are getting hit from all sides in just about every aspect of our lives. Just because BO has proved that the left wing nuts can be as bad as the right wing nuts, does that mean we have to choose between one or the other? Most people are in the middle. It is as simple as a bell curve. How have they managed to limit our choices?
The objective of the Corporation of America (Government/Industry) is to be able to do whatever they want without accountability. And the problem with that is that our system of governance, as such, is predominantly male and lacking in the values that women would bring to the system. If you think our government is sexist, you need to experience the male autonomy of the oil industry. They are a veritable bastion of male autonomy. I think you will find less that 20% females in positions of responsibility. And those positions will mostly be the ones for the scapegoats.
Women’s Rights are Human Rights. We are half of the whole and any system that excludes us is inherently flawed and will FAIL.

D.C. job alleged as attempt to deter Romanoff
09/27/2009
WASHINGTON — Not long after news leaked last month that Andrew Romanoff was determined to make a Democratic primary run against Sen. Michael Bennet, Romanoff received an unexpected communication from one of the most powerful men in Washington.
Jim Messina, President Barack Obama’s deputy chief of staff and a storied fixer in the White House political shop, suggested a place for Romanoff might be found in the administration and offered specific suggestions, according to several sources who described the communication to The Denver Post.
Romanoff turned down the overture, which included mention of a job at USAID, the foreign aid agency, sources said.
Then, the day after Romanoff formally announced his Senate bid, Obama endorsed Bennet.
It is the kind of hardball tactics that have come to mark the White House’s willingness to shape key races across the country, in this case trying to remove a threat to a vulnerable senator by presenting his opponent a choice of silver or lead.
Along with other prominent examples — including an effort to stop New York Gov. David Paterson from seeking re-election — the administration’s tactics in the Colorado Senate primary show that Obama is willing to act as pointedly as his Oval Office predecessor, whose political chief, Karl Rove, was famous for the assertive application of White House power to extend the reach of his party.

Sister Margaret’s story is yet another example of the Church’s fear of WOMAN and sex. I wrote an email – wbd, your call was fantastic! Awesome!
Lots of people enjoying the beaches in my area this weekend. The Governor has made fishing free this weekend and next. I’m going to take my kids tomorrow and take lots of pictures.
Philippe Cousteau swam in the mess and it is horrible what the dispersants are doing.
BP should be held criminally liable – one bp person has taken the Fifth. The chief mechanic, Doug Brown, testified and it’s scary what he heard. Some bp idiot made a decision that was so risky that the Transocean representative disagreed and, when he was not successful in changing the bp idiot’s mind, said in frustration, “that’s what we have the pincers for” referring to the blow out preventer. So, they knew they were taking a huge risk and didn’t change course.
My friend made an awesome suggestion last night – she said we need a litigation fund for ordinary people. Bp has way too much money and too many lawyers, just as Exxon did, and what can any of us do? Well, she said if we had a litigation fund (everyone contribute 10 bucks), then our lawyers could sue companies like bp or lobby for better legislation (since regular joe and jane have no lobbyists).
I thought it was a cool idea.
It does feel that it is too late for the Gulf Coast. Up to forty million gallons, by some estimates, are floating around out there killing everything. I’m going to enjoy it while I can so my kids have memories to share with their kids. that may be all we have in the end.
wontbackdown 05.29.10 at 10:41 am
When I was a child, I lived with an aunt and uncle in a small, 4 room farmhouse, on 5 acres, in a small town, just outside of the Texas Gulf region. If there was a problem with the one school bus, we road the horses to school.
My aunt and uncle were good people. He was a good MAN. He had 2 daughters of his own and he never treated my 2 brothers and me like anything but his own. In fact, he probably showed us more attention in ways – because we needed it.
My uncle was a “Deacon” in the church. BUT – he never treated the three of us girls any less than my 2 brothers. He protected us and demanded that we be treated with care and respect. Every Friday night, we would all go to my cousins’ basketball games. The girls’ team were stars in our town. Everyone loved my aunt and uncle – especially all of the high school kids – girls and boys alike – we were all “equal” in value and potential – not one word ever of “a girl or woman’s place…”
Our roads were “paved” with shells from the gulf. My uncle worked for Humble Oil. He would leave before daylight, in clean blue-jeans and a fresh pressed, work shirt, with his hair neatly combed and lighted oiled.
He would come home in the evenings at dusk. I would run down the road to meet his truck. He would slow down just enough to reach out and hold my hand outside the window and let me skip alongside – chatting non-stop at him, until we reached the house.
When he got out of the truck, his face was almost black with soot, except from just below his hairline from the headband of his safety helmet. His clothes were completely charcoal, stained with oil and soot. He looked years older than when he had left in the mornings. I would beg him to pick me up, but he would just steer me toward the door and into the house and head immediately to take his shower.
I knew the routine. 20 minutes later, he would emerge in clean clothes and out the front door we would go – acting like he had just arrived home. His 6.4 frame would pick me up and swing me around as we hugged each other, laughing, like we hadn’t seen each other in years.
He worked hard day after day and it was dangerous work. He fell 60 feet from an oil platform, broke his back, legs and god knows what else. He lived, but was never the same. He was in pain the rest of his life. We had to leave.
They eventually opened a little cafe in town and things got better, but he developed lung cancer – black lung related, they said.
I guess I am telling this story tonight because I think about the families of the men that died on the rig, the fishermen and women and their families. I think about everyone here – and across the country.
We’re just people. We’re not big banks, wall-street movers and shakers, oil moguls, big oil companies, stock markets or ticker tapes or profit and losses or big agencies with switchboards fielding faceless names. We’re not politicians or legislators or supreme justices or government monuments that symbolize the value of a country, its history and its citizens.
We’re just people. But, as people, we’re suppose to be what infuses the real value and purpose of all of those entities and their products and services, and our governing bodies – created solely for the protection of a country’s sovereignty, a country’s assets – for the use in prospering a country’s population, it’s natural resources and for the protection of the rights to the very basics of humanity – to be treated equally and to have equal access to all that a country collectively develops.
The Gulf, New Orleans, our Wildlife and eco-systems, food and water supply do not belong to the government. They belong to the people. Taxation of the people maintains them for the good of them and humanity. We, the people, pay heavily to protect them on behalf of us all… the people…
… but, it has become the other other way around. To wrestle control of all our country’s natural resources by “investing” in them has meant to exploit them beyond their value to humanity… to literally destroy them.
This country and “our” government have been hi-jacked from the people – by thieves, murderers, slave laborers and human rights oppressors – called politicians, big corporate ‘industrialists’ and exploiters of “God” and all of ‘its’ marvelous wonders of creation – ALL things living.
This “memorial” day – go out and tell another – tell everyone you meet – it isn’t who our soldiers fought against – it’s WHO they believed they died for – YOU AND ME.
The ENEMY isn’t YOU OR ME. The ENEMY is the ideological zealotry running rampant within government, business, and religion.
We are “People” – HUMAN BEINGS – when we return to a love for humanity – greater than anything else – we will become true soldiers – and no government, business or religion can TAKE CONTROL over our lives, nor defeat us.
For my aunt and uncle – who treated us all the same – VALUABLE.

One last thing:
P.S. I wanted to post my little story last night in the quiet, late hours, but was too embarrassed – as if it was “insignificant”. Today, I realized that’s just not true.
I may not know YOUR “story” – but I know that you have one – that your life, family, family history – good or “bad” – make you and me who we are today.
Your lives have meaning to me. The anger you share with me over everything that is happening is because you, too, care beyond what mere words can express.
These reactions in feelings that we are all having are a very real and necessary essence of our “humanity” – and crucial if any battle is to be won against “evil”. Evil is “evil” because it has lost ‘sight’ of humanity.
Make no mistake about it. When ideologies, governments and corporate powers, by willful design and agendas of force, run over human life and all that sustains it, they are not just bigots, or power-mongers or greedy; they are “INSANELY EVIL”.
“PUMA” was never some silly little acronym. It was a rallying cry against one more major blow to our fundamental rights, as people, to have our “votes” counted as the “individuals” that make up all of humanity.
It “People United Means Action” was a stand against the very willful design and agendas of force THAT FUEL EVIL OUTCOMES BY GIVING POLITICAL PARTIES, THUS THE BP’S OF THE WORLD, THEIR POWER OVER THE PEOPLE.
Shame on those who attacked us and those that now see us as “insignificant.” How easy it is to dismiss those that sent the warning of all that is now unfolding – faster than we can read.
If protecting one’s “Catholicism,” liberalism, progressive-ism, conservative-ism or democrat-ism, republican-ism or any other “ISM” that sustains you in an identity is more important than your right to be protected from exploitation and oppression by any GROUP, ENTITY OR INSTITUTION – you missed the whole point of why Murphy formed “PUMA”. IMO.

BP and Coast Guard revise estimate of leak and “Top Kill” failed. Their next lame attempt to fix in 4 days.
BP “top kill” fails
“The Deepwater Horizon rig exploded on April 20, killing 11 workers and unleashing an underwater torrent of oil that the government estimated at 12,000 to 19,000 barrels (504,000 to 798,000 gallons/1.9 million to 3 million liters) a day.
———————–
Notice the change from 210,000 gallons a day to a minimum of 500,000 gallons a day. I am so furious I’m shaking!!!

It’s sad, but I just keep praying for the workers who are actually trying to solve the leak problem as well as those working on the cleanup who might be sickened by the oil.
It’s ironic that the Annointed One wants to take credit for “making” BP do what it’s already doing. The workers trying to do their jobs, the dead and sick are just part of the useless corporate empire, never mentioned or appreciated as much as the One Who Will Save Us-with bailouts.
Ugh.

Sarah Palin, whom I consider to be an energy expert, says it best on her FB:
“If the President really was fully focused on this issue from day one, why did it take nine whole days before the administration asked the Department of Defense for help in deploying equipment needed for the extreme depth spill site?
Why was the expert group assembled by Energy Commissioner Steven Chu only set up three weeks after the start of this disaster?
Why was Governor Jindal forced more than a month after the start of the disaster to go on national television to beg for materials needed to tackle the oil spill and for federal approval to build offshore sand barriers that are imperative to protect his state’s coastline?
Why was no mention of the spill made by our President for days on end while Americans waited to hear if he grasped the import of his leadership on this energy issue?
Why have several countries and competent organizations who offered help or expertise in dealing with the spill not even received a response back from the Unified Area Command to this day?”
And of course he passes the buck no matter what he says:
“He suggested today that a “culture of corruption” at the U.S. Minerals Management Service (MMS) was solely the previous administration’s responsibility and that the failure of the inspection system was a failure of that administration. That is false. The MMS has been his responsibility since January 20, 2009.
The MMS director who resigned today, Elizabeth Birnbaum, was appointed by his administration. And the most recent inspection of the oil rig took place a mere 10 days before the explosion – also very much on his watch,

A thought to ponder . . .
A message from Europe: “The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama Presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man as their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

“Daddy” is the white-power-man’s pimp:
BP got EXACTLY what it wanted: Screw the Gulf – Save the $OIL$
It’s been over 4 weeks since BP announced that it would be August before the relief well could be completed and they could stop the OIL flow into the Gulf.
It was also at that time that they indicated why the TOP KILL was not the preferred fix – it would have effectively damaged the well beyond re-drilling – re-tapping into that particular oil field.
They never wanted to “KILL” it.
Obama’s reaction, Salazar’s reaction the COO of BP’s reaction? The public outrage had to e dealt with…
…in time, the anger, shock and grief for the loss of the Gulf will pass as the Sheeple give in to the powers that be.
We were being Public Relations played while they were moving right along the preferred path.
What will we get next? Hearings, hearings and more hearings to justify their existence with a few criminal investigations and maybe even a couple of prosecutions of dispensable people on the rung.
The deals have been made. Screw the Gulf – Screw the People, save the $Oil$ – and the big political donors. What’s a ‘few’ more unemployed?
More sheeple, working for the government to serve the
bailouts, cleanup, taxation, transition to a government-corporate run country, makes for less opposition.wontbackdown 05.30.10 at 12:01 pm

This man who is president of Transocean dishonored the people who died and survived by saying that anyone could have stopped work for safety reasons. Sure, yeah right. One worker gave a mayday call on the open radio and was reprimanded. Two bp employees were fired after raising safety issues about the Atlantis, another deepwater rig. Transocean itself ignored the danger signs a month before the explosion when the BOP was damaged and chunks of seal came up out of the well afterwards. The chunks were gathered and given to the Transocean worker with authority, and he said, “no big deal.”
In an AP article in my paper today, Newman is reported as having insisted there was no evidence that the BOP failed.
Did the man miss the 60 minutes program on 5/16? Did he not talk to the workers who survived? The investigator interviewed on the 60 minutes program explained very clearly what must have happened based on what the survivors have said and logs showed.
He said BP was responsible.

Remember? Obama could not have “won” with just the internet. 50% of our population is not internet or politically connected nor has a clue that their reliance and/or dependency upon the 4 MSM channels, local news markets is keeping them largely from the truth of the larger picture of what is happening to their lives.
Obama grew his base from the internet to the streets. He “invested” in buying lists – then provided them with a ‘grassroots’ plan to ‘take their voices to the ‘general public’ on the streets’.

The problem is, “the laws of the land” inure to the benefit of those with the power to influence outcomes on their behalf – regardless of the law’s intention to protect from the same.
One “gray” ruling from the courts could break “the fund” unless we have staying power to appeal tactical road-blocks, delays and suspected judicial bias.

They are either not paying attention, do not have access or understand what they are hearing or are simply dealing with their own lives – unaware of what is to come as a result of all of this.
The local news – is “local news” concentrated. Many people truly do not understand how connected we all are to, and the importance of, the Gulf region – until it’s too late (like Katrina).
How many states, people had no idea of the impact of accommodating the affected population of LA – until it happened?

I don’t think I am. I say that the damage to the Gulf is just the beginning of the breaking point for its ultimate impact upon the rest of our oceans and dependent indsutries.
The damage to the Gulf and its coast is already catastrophic.
Two more months of this “spill” at its flow-rate, will be the equivalent of a slow motion cataclysmic event – as if in a global flood, earthquake or volcanic eruption that travels all around the world.
wontbackdown 05.30.10 at 2:19 pm
We have no choice but to let BP try and save the “OIL”. There was probably never a choice. That was probably known after the first week it happened.
The OIL is the only thing left with enough value – thus the ability to “compensate” for (a fraction of) the losses.

A warning is not a stop sign. It is just that you need to be prepared for the fight. If I knew what I know now, I would have researched the Financial Disclosure Report of any Judge involved. The SOB’s sometimes disguise them, too. Like one who listed a “ranch” but did not list the royalties from the oil lease on it. What is worse is that you have to request the FDR with the acknowledgment of the judge. More recently Judicial Watch routinely obtains them and posts them on line. For the past two years, the Obamas have been going to a friend’s house, which is across the street from Farrakhan’s. This year, the “Fruit of Islam” followers of Farrakhan (I would call them Fruit of the Loon, except I would hate to involve a perfectly innocent underwear company in the pun) freaked out because the press pool was stationed in front of their house/headquarters.

I feel sorry for anyone who can’t leave Chicago, but anyone who goes there voluntarily has to have a fair amount of thug in them….so I’m sure the Obamas’ “friend” is as skeevy as the rest of the bunch…but we don’t have to borrow fake trouble when there’s plenty of REAl trouble to focus on.

Future Pope Benedict XVI refused to defrock priest who confessed to molesting children
MATT SEDENSKY Associated Press Writer | May 30, 2010 (AP)
Let’s see now, my conversation with Bishop’s Olmstead’s office:
I guess a priest molesting children is a pardonable, inconsequential sin because the molesting priest didn’t request to be defrocked. But a nun saving a woman’s life is an un-pardonable sin, punishable by excommunication, unless she confesses that saving a life is a sin and helps the church manage the scandal that SHE caused the church.

Just a few blocks from Obama’s home in the Kenwood/Hyde Park neighborhood, Obama’s friend Marty Nesbitt lives across the street from the ornate yellow-gold home where Farrakhan lives.

Thanks for that article, as depressing as it was. It sounds as if some PUMAs were interviewed for how poorly women candidates are being treated today:
(snip)
To Mary Anne Marsh, A MAssachusetts-based Democratic strategist for Dewey Square Group, the Coakley and Sutton slams are part of a disturbing pattern. “When you go back and look at the 2008 presidential election and look at how (disrespectfully) Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin were treated—-if it can happen to them, it can happen to anyone,” Marsh said. “….(the abuse heaped on them) gives permission for everyone else to be treated like that as a woman in politics…”

I saw that story on the runaway child brides, but didn’t dare watch the videos…the text alone was infuriating and horrifying enough. Those brave girls…
Did you read the part where some child brides are given the choice to submit to their vile prurient “husbands” or be strapped with a bomb and become a suicide bomber?

They’re just now figuring this out…because they (the Church) are being threatened by this…or as the Pope put it: ” …said the sex abuse crisis was ‘terrifying’ insofar as the greatest persecution of the church was now coming from within.” Yeah, that’s why sex abuse is “terrifying.”
Well, at least they added that pedophile priests will face a worse Hell than laymen abusers.

The Vatican’s Promoter of Justice, who fulfils some of the functions of an attorney general for the Holy See, urged a hard line in dealing with abuser priests, calling for a form of “divine surgery”, by which they would be removed from the priesthood and also reported to the relevant civil authorities.

I MUST get re-focused on my goal on a certain “woman’s issue”.
What isn’t going to hell with trickle down, male “superiority” at the top of every system?
Standard Woman’s Disclaimer: I don’t hate men.
Modifier: I hate their collective conscious, worldview. Since they’re ultimately in charge of everything, it’s obviously a highly destructive one. imo.

I think you are giving them too much credit to be able to plan such a thing. When the opportunity arose, I am sure Nalco got the business because of it’s connections, even if better, less toxic products were available. And Nalco probably had their stuff stockpiled, waiting for an incident like this to happen. Predictable, given the state of the business.

Why is it white people (tho called racist) concern themselves with diversity, and straight people concern themselves with GLBT rights, but men don’t make feminism and women their concern even tho, in the words of John Lennon’s WIFE (who had to use him as the messenger), women are the niggers of the world?

The Disaster in the Gulf is a Woman’s Issue
There were 126 people on the Deepwater Horizon when it blew. How many were women? All of the 11 who died were men. All the commentary I have seen from survivors were from men. The Oil Companies are bastions of male autonomy. Look at the Board of BP: http://www.bp.com/managedlistingsection.do?categoryId=9021626&contentId=7041219

Damn right, that women seem to be the niggers of the world as Zee mentioned that was what Yoko Ono said. How many of us in our every day life accept it
without question or consciously realising it ?
Case in point: In my own little world where I insisted that the men in our lives accompany us to see a totally chick movie, Sex in the City. They protest kicking and screaming. To which I say, if we can go with you to see, Ironman, Superman and all manner of tostesterone movies, they can sit through this as it is equality for all in my circle. We heard this male voice behind us after the movie, saying obviously for the benefit of everyone…”well, that’s two hours I’d never get back”. That’s good of you to point out and think of all the many hours we spent on you guys that we’d never get back. I am glad your other half was strong enough to make you endure your precious two hours. It just like their time is worth more than ours, their life more than ours. I find such BS totally insulting.

On top of that he did not get to make is speech at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Cemetary either.

Thunder, lightning stop Obama Memorial Day speech
ELWOOD, Illinois (Reuters) –
President Barack Obama’s Memorial Day observance was stopped in its tracks on Monday by a torrential downpour accompanied by bolts of lightning and booming thunder.
Obama thrilled the crowd at Abraham Lincoln National Ceremony by appearing under an umbrella as the rain poured down. But he did not deliver his prepared remarks honoring troops who died fighting for the United States.
Instead he urged the crowd to seek shelter.

He did get to lay a wreath and stand with head bowed during the playing of taps. Then he boarded some of the buses with the rain soaked attendees and later visited the wounded and their families at a Veterans Hospital outside Chicago.

Louise Bourgeois, Influential Sculptor, Dies at 98
Louise Bourgeois, the French-born American artist who gained fame only late in a long career, when her psychologically charged abstract sculptures, drawings and prints had a galvanizing effect on the work of younger artists, particularly women, died on Monday in Manhattan, where she lived. She was 98.

The AM propaganda from CNN Invent The news and MSN BULLSHIT , ask someone “don’t you think the president is doing all he can with the oil crisis ” and get the answer you want ..
While yesterday the pressie drools over and gets photo ops with the Palestinian ( Muslim father figure ) and allocates 400 million dollars to them which we KNOW will go to HAMAS ; while the POPE somehow blames Israel and the palestinian conflict for the outright murder and “cleansing” of christians in Muslim countries :
http://www.debbieschlussel.com/23127/once-again-pope-blames-israel-for-christian-arabs-probs/
excerpt :
Here are a few clues for the Pope: Israel is not the reason Chaldeans (Iraqi Catholics) are fleeing Iraq in droves. Shi’ite Muslims are. Israel did not kidnap and murder the Chaldean archbishop. Muslims did. Israel is not the reason there are no Catholic churches in Saudi Arabia. Sunni Muslims are. Israel is not the reason Palestinian Catholics are nearly extinct in Gaza and soon to be extinct in Bethlehem, the city of Jesus’ birth. Sunni Muslims are. Israel is not the reason Maronite Catholics in Lebanon are persecuted and murdered by Hezbollah/Harakat Amal. Shi’ite Muslims are. Israel is not the reason that Catholics in Syria are under attack and that their church is now the Al-Umayyad mosque. The Muslims–Shi’ite/Alouite and Sunni–are.
Pope Benedict, Israel has no responsibility for any of the attacks on Catholics throughout the Muslim world. Muslims bear almost all of that responsibility . . . and a good chunk of it goes to the Vatican and the various Popes who pandered to Muslims and attacked Israel. They bet on the wrong side. And now–and forever–that side (Islam) will go out of its way to murder Christians, just as it does Jews.
Sadly, the Vatican will not wake up completely. But it’s a fact: Muslims have killed more Christians than Jews. You don’t avenge that mass murder by cuddling with the Charles Manson of religions.
The funniest thing about the Pope and his Vatican’s Mid-East paper is that they claim that the plight of Mid-East Christians is ignored. You know who ignored it the most? The Pope, that’s who. He was more concerned with attacking Jews. And that same old blame gets, once again, thrown into the mix.”
