The men in charge of the Church that wrote the woman-hating parts of HCR are the same men who let one of their precious priests sexually abuse very young boys (aged 7 to 16) for 27 years. Repeatedly. And there were repeated complaints and accusations from parents, fellow teachers, and the community to make him stop. But he never did — for over 40 years he was given free rein, by the same men whom our elected officials have empowered with the right to force my very own daughters to become mothers before they are ready, to hurt, humiliate, and terrorize little boys. Now, these weren’t just any boys. They were institutionalized deaf children. The most vulnerable of the vulnerable. Deaf children!
Why is it personal for me? My nephew was deaf before he died. What if he had lived long enough to be able to attend a special school for kids like him? What if this fragile, sweet boy had been delivered by his family (which includes me) to a place where powerful men hurt and humiliated him? And being deaf, he wouldnt have been able to talk! Literally!
Kids I went to school with were sexually molested by a priest in my parish. Their families were permanently damaged by what happened.
All of which is water under the bridge, and I don’t approve of personalizing an argument to drown out opposition (Only *I* know the truth because *I* lived it. That’s hogwash). But why I bring up a personal story is to remind people that this is REAL. It really, really happened (and continues to happen) to children and families.
This law and these men who enacted it are my enemies. They are the enemies of my daughters and yours — your granddaughters and nieces, and the girlfriends, sisters, and wives of your sons, grandsons, and nephews.
When the same men who molest children are calling the shots on where, when, and how children can and will be born to free American women, something is very very wrong with our democracy.
I pray Father Murphy’s immortal soul is tormented for all eternity for what he did to small boys who didn’t even have the power to scream.
And I thank God for showing me the true faces of our enemies:

The priest on the left, with his hands clasped in anticipation, is Father Lawrence Murphy who sexually molested boys just like the ones lining up in front of him. This photograph is pornography once you know that.

As Honora said recently in comments, the women of faith in the Catholic church who give their time and money and hearts to help others and to make our world a better place to live, esp for the vulnerable children and poor people are lightyears away in goodness from demons like Father Murphy.
I love Catholic women — they are me, my aunts, the women who gave me the best elementary education on earth, for practically FREE. Catholic women are the future and the real soul of the church, as honora said.
I make this disclaimer because I love Catholic women — the ones I know and the ones I dont.
If I came from an islamic background I’m sure I would say/feel the same.
To not love islamic women would be like not loving African American slaves because they “participated” in slavery. It makes absolutely no sense.

How YOU will pay for the healthcare costs
http://liveshots.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/03/24/on-the-check-food-drinks-health-care/print/
One of the provisions in the new health care law requires small businesses to provide coverage for workers. Such an “employer mandate” has been in place in San Francisco, Calif., for over a year.
-snip-
To cover the cost, owners are either having to raise their menu prices or tack on a so-called “Healthy Surcharge” onto the tab. At some places, it’s around 4 percent of the check. Others charge a flat fee of a dollar or two.
Either way, customers are footing the bill for the health care of their waitstaff, busboys, and cooks, regardless of whether the workers work part time, live in San Francisco, or are in the U.S. legally.
–snip–
Some eateries worry they’ll have to let people go, or cut shifts.

Sen. Coburn’s ammendment to the HC bill to stop E.D. drugs from going to child molestors & rapists was voted down last night. Probably because he added other ‘non-starter’ text into the document, but here’s the point: THERE’S NOTHING IN THE BILL TO STOP these criminals from getting E.D. drugs??? Are you f’ing kidding ME????

I like the list of HCR Myths and Facts that Violet posted yesterday. An excerpt:
MYTH: Insurance companies hate this bill.
FACT: This bill is almost identical to the plan written by AHIP, the insurance company trade association, in 2009.
The original Senate Finance Committee bill was authored by a former Wellpoint VP. Since Congress released the first of its health care bills on October 30, 2009, health care stocks have risen 28.35%.
MYTH: The bill will significantly bring down insurance premiums for most Americans.
FACT:The bill will not bring down premiums significantly, and certainly not the $2,500/year that the President promised.
Annual premiums in 2016, status quo / with bill:
Small group market, single: $7,800 / $7,800
Small group market, family: $19,300 / $19,200
Large Group market, single: $7,400 / $7,300
Large group market, family: $21,100 / $21,300
Individual market, single:
$5,500 / $5,800*
Individual market, family: $13,100 / $15,200*
MYTH: The bill will make health care affordable for middle class Americans.
FACT: The bill will impose a financial hardship on middle class Americans who will be forced to buy a product that they can’t afford to use.
A family of four making $66,370 will be forced to pay $5,243 per year for insurance. After basic necessities, this leaves them with $8,307 in discretionary income — out of which they would have to cover clothing, credit card and other debt, child care and education costs, in addition to $5,882 in annual out-of-pocket medical expenses for which families will be responsible.
MYTH: This plan is similar to the Massachusetts plan, which makes health care affordable.
FACT: Many Massachusetts residents forgo health care because they can’t afford it. A 2009 study by the state of Massachusetts found that:
21% of residents forgo medical treatment because they can’t afford it, including 12% of children
18% have health insurance but can’t afford to use it

That swine Coburn’s amendment also included forbidding those predator’s victims from receiving the abortion pill.
As far as I’m concerned, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of these rapists and predators are sitting in Congress. It’s not as if at least one hasn’t already been identified and kicked out on his ass. I bet he can get all the Viagra he wants too.
These beasts hate women. Both parties. It’s as simple as that. We are going to have to fight them with every fiber of our beings if we intend to be even considered human in five more years. This is war on women and we had best realize that the women’s “organizations” are truly worthless and adequately subdued. 50,000 women on the Capitol steps would cure them, but we no longer have any real organizers like the second wave had. They don’t want to muss their hair or break any fingernails. Everybody is asleep while their rights are being whittled away and doled out in drips by mean dirty old men who hate women, helped by their token women who do their bidding.
admin 03.25.10 at 10:42 am
Uppity — a-yup. The Coathanger Coalition has all of TWO women in it. ALL of the rest are men.
There are roughly 60 democratic women in Congress. Only TWO of them (less than 5%) are part of this Coathanger Coalition. 95% of Dem women are on our sides.
Jerry, Brad, Chris, Steve, Mike, Charlie, Jim, Henry, Allan, Nick, and Bart. These men are choosing for my daughters and yours.
Reproductive health is a MAJOR part of women’s total health plan for at LEAST 25 years, starting when girls hit puberty and not ending until well into our 40′s. You simply CANNOT strip reproductive health out of our overall health situations like it’s a little line item. I have a much closer relationship with my OB/GYN than with any other doctor or nurse in my life. I’ve only had TWO docs in that department in the last 28 years.
This is not a crisis we can solve by hoping that $300 bucks and a call to the local Planned Parenthood clinic will make it all go away.
Being a human who can get pregnant is kind of like having chronic diabetes (though I hesitate to use a “disease” metaphor for reproductive health), but it’s true. We are ALWAYS managing our reproductive issues for as long as our menstrual lives, and even after that.
Imagine if there were an anti-diabetes movement out there who “only” wanted to make insulin un-insurable.
We are living in madness.
Vote FOR Women.

Uppity Woman #8 –
Unless you read something I didn’t see, I disagree that he was forbidding predator’s victims from receiving the abortion pill. Just keeping the facts straight. I’m not arguing FOR Coburn – my specific point and anger was that I was surprised that we’re NOT preventing these fuckwads from getting E.D. drugs already.
This is what I see in the bill:
“Finally, the amendment would prohibit federal reimbursement for abortifacients, except in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother.

Coburn:
“This amendment would enact recommendations from the Government Accountability Office to stop fraudulent payments for prescription drugs prescribed by dead providers or, to dead patients. This amendment also prohibits coverage of Viagra and other ED medications to convicted child molesters, rapists, and sex offenders, and prohibits coverage of abortion drugs.”

Trial: abuse expert says Scouts put boys at risk
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Boy Scouts of America showed reckless indifference to protecting young Scouts when it kept confidential two decades worth of files on suspected molesters among its troop leaders, a psychologist testified Wednesday as part of a $14 million lawsuit against the organization.
Despite creating a remarkably in-depth file about sexual abusers, the Boy Scouts failed to warn parents or tell authorities about suspected or confessed pedophiles, said Gary Schoener, a national expert and consultant on sexual misconduct in the clergy, health care and other segments of society.
Some boys may have become victims because of the silence, he told the Multnomah County Circuit Court jury.
“The Boy Scouts had the information, had the knowledge, had the ability to make a difference,” Schoener said. “And they didn’t.”
The lawsuit was brought by a 37-year-old Klamath Falls man who was abused by an assistant Scoutmaster, Timur Dykes, in the early 1980s. Dykes was convicted three times between 1983 and 1994 of sexually abusing boys, most of them Scouts. He acknowledged abusing the plaintiff in a video deposition played for jurors last week.

Uppity, I don’t understand why these freaks can’t just write a simple amendment to address the SPECIFIC issue, without getting side tracked. He would have probably gotten this passed with something as simple as:
“Criminals shall NOT receive E.D. drugs under this healthcare bill”. Simple, no?
I should be a politician. I could get more done than these jackasses with this simple approach.

She is my brothers daughter she is a straight a student she is a cheerleader she is on the swim team. She can be mean.
I am her gay uncle her mother’s sister had a child to an african american. Her mother’s famiy is racist. Use the N word all the time. Watched an episode of Glee, I think its episode nine called wheels, with the youngun and we talked. And we talked. I let her speak and speak and let her listen to herself. If you have a tween or teen kid you care about this show gives you a lot of opportunity to speak with them.

Alert
I’ve noticed a trend that we have to be alert about, and that is the current push from all sides about those who disagree with Obama’s policies being hate filled. I noticed the dems started that chant when they were making the final push to pass hc, then the media picked up on it and ran with it (even Fox News), and now on NPR the woman who does the entertainment interview shows had her entire show on it today – that there is more hate out there than there has ever, ever been in the whole history of the country, blah, blah, blah. This is a concerted effort to silence opposition from the masses by both parties. We only have the word of the Congresspeople that people shouted hate filled (translation: racist) epithats at them. The silliest I heard was Sheila Jackson Lee (the woman with the beautiful braid around her head) complained that someone said her braid was too tight. I’m trying to figure out how she will claim that as racist. I’m sure that there is some nasty and violent protests against the reps, but watch out for the hyperbole.

I worked my ass off for Clinton and it had nothing to do with her gender.

Family apologizes after sexual abuse arrest
Crime» Kennard, founder of children’s charity, held without bail, ordered to hire attorney
Heber City » Minutes after a judge ordered 68-year-old Village of Hope co-founder Lon Harvey Kennard held without bail on charges that he sexually abused two of his adopted daughters Wednesday, his family issued a public apology.
Verl Kennard, one of Kennard’s six biological children, provided a prepared statement outside the courtroom and said the family was badly shaken but holding together.
“We want him to pay for what he’s done,” Verl Kennard said of his father. “And we want him to get help.”
The statement reads: “The recent arrest of Lon Harvey Kennard, Sr., who in the past has been a respected citizen, is devastating. Mr. Kennard’s family is supporting the investigation and stands united together through this extremely difficult time. The family apologizes to all the good people, friends, and associates, who along with the family have had their trust betrayed by Lon Senior’s alleged deviant actions and secret life. They request that the media allow them the privacy they need to put their lives back together.”
Kennard is charged with 25 counts of first-degree felony aggravated sexual abuse of a child, 21 counts of second-degree felony sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of witness tampering. According to court documents, the abuse was ongoing between 1995 and 2002. During that time frame, Kennard served as a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints bishop.

I dont know if any racial slurs ever did take place when they were walking in to vote on healthcare, or spitting went on or anything, i dont know that it wasnt teenagers taking advantage of situation and throwing bricks through windows…this is what happens when you have POOR leadership that should have started out with healthcare and not accepted any plan without bipartisan efforts. Here is a study to make breast cancer a “you didn’t take care of yourself” disease…
Experts: One-third of breast cancer is avoidable
Last Modified: Thursday, Mar. 25, 2010 – 9:28 am
BARCELONA, Spain — Up to a third of breast cancer cases in Western countries could be avoided if women ate less and exercised more, researchers at a breast cancer conference said Thursday, renewing debate on a sensitive topic.
While better treatments, early diagnosis and mammogram screenings have dramatically slowed the disease, experts said the focus should now shift to changing behaviors like diet and physical activity. The comments added to a series of findings that lifestyle changes in areas such as smoking, eating, exercise and sun exposure can have a significant effect on all sorts of cancer rates.
“What can be achieved with screening has been achieved. We can’t do much more,” Carlo La Vecchia, head of epidemiology at the University of Milan, told The Associated Press. “It’s time to move onto other things.”
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. In Europe, there were about 421,000 new cases and nearly 90,000 deaths in 2008, the latest available figures. The United States last year saw more than 190,000 new cases and 40,000 deaths.
A woman’s lifetime chance of getting breast cancer is about one in eight. Obese women are up to 60 percent more likely to develop any cancer than normal-weight women, according to a 2006 study by British researchers.
Many breast cancers are fueled by estrogen, a hormone produced in fat tissue. So experts suspect that the fatter a woman is, the more estrogen she’s likely to produce, which could in turn spark breast cancer. Even in slim women, exercise can help reduce the cancer risk by converting more of the body’s fat into muscle.
“We hope that no one comes away from these studies with the idea that they’re an attempt to ‘blame’ anyone for breast cancer,” said Diana Rowden, a vice president at Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a breast cancer group in Dallas. Rowden said the research was essential to warn people of their potential risks for developing breast cancer.
After studies several years ago linked hormone replacement therapy to cancer, millions of women abandoned the treatment, leading to a sharp drop in breast cancer rates. Experts said a similar reduction might be seen if women ate better – consuming less fat and more vegetables – and exercised more.
“Women who have early pregnancies are protected against breast cancer, but teenage pregnancy is a social disaster so it’s not something we want to encourage,” she said. “But there’s no downside to reducing obesity and increasing physical activity.”
In the 1980s and 1990s, breast cancer rates steadily increased, in parallel with the rise in obesity and the use of hormone replacement therapy, which involves estrogen.

It’s no surprise that this study conclusion is aimed at a woman’s cancer, again. Nancy Snyderman on the Today Show yesterday was upset because a new study said that if ‘women’ would just exercise an hour every day, they could maintain their weight. As Nancy said ‘what woman has time to exercise for one hour everyday?’

[Come 2014, all 100 U.S. senators, all 435 representatives in the House and every one of their personal aides will have to go to the newly formed state exchanges for health insurance -- just like everyone else in the country who isn't covered by their employer.
But select congressional leadership staffers -- some of whom wrote the health insurance act -- won't. And neither will White House staffers and Cabinet members -- nor the president himself. They will be allowed to keep their current plans, which are offered to all other federal employees.
And now many congressional aides who like their current health insurance policies and will be forced to switch are asking: Why?]

I was so young and i have no idea why but I had my blue courdaroy pants in my hand, When he pressed himself against me I dropped the pants and the change in my pockets went everywhere making a ton of noise. He let me go.

Deere Says New Health Care Reform Law Will Increase 2010 Expense By $150 Million After-Tax
MOLINE, Illinois (March 25, 2010) — Deere & Company announced today that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act signed into law this week will adversely impact its expenses for fiscal 2010. As a result of the legislation, the company’s expenses are expected to be about $150 million higher on an after-tax basis, primarily in the second quarter. This impact was not included in the 2010 outlook for net income attributable to Deere & Company of approximately $1.3 billion disclosed in the company’s first-quarter earnings report on February 17th.

HEY – time to send those PUMA dollars in!
DNC Chairman Tim Kaine emailed the party faithful to solicit funds for November. The email said, in part:
On Sunday night, many Congressional Democrats in tough districts cast courageous votes for health reform — even though they knew that insurance companies and their Republican allies would retaliate immediately.
Well, the attacks are here. Shameful, negative ads have already hit the airwaves. Democratic offices have been vandalized. Republicans are promising to repeal reform and smearing those who supported it.
But we’re ready to do what it takes to defend the heroes who made health reform possible.
These are the men and women who stood with us and the President to make good on a promise that our Party has fought to deliver for a century. And we will not leave them hanging out to dry.
Please chip in $5 or more to defend those in Congress who fought to make health reform possible?

re the Colburn issues.
There is one problem people should be aware of.
It must be some genetic defect in men that they make the Law be absolute and can’t possibly use common sense. So some of the men caught up in the net of sexual predators are teenagers having sex with their underage girlfriends.
So you could have an 18 year old boy labeled for having sex with his 17 year old girlfriend. This is not hypothetical…it happens.
Once we amend the law to prevent such consensual cases, I would be all for chemically castrating sexual predators instead of handing them ED.

What Obama said today about trying to repeal the bill:
“Be my guest,” Obama said in prepared remarks for the first of many appearances around the country to sell the overhaul to voters before the fall congressional elections. “I welcome that fight. Because I don’t believe the American people are going to put the insurance industry back in the driver’s seat.”
and like sir, we are supposed to want the government in the driver’s seat? If you can fly all over the land, let insurance companies compete across state lines, and they nor you will be in the driver’s seat, they will have to compete. just like the phone companies do and car insurances do, that brings down prices, correct me if im wrong.

Once upon a time i found out quite accidentally a guest in our home had fondled a son of mine’s privates, i immediately went to his house where he was at home with his little two year old son running around naked. I told him if he ever touched any of my children again or came to my home again i would have him arrested and that if i ever found out he touched his own son i would be a witness and testify how I had found him out. ( my son said it as we were driving by his house he was 10) that’s when i went to his house.
Later, his oldest son commited suicide, he was convicted of molesting young boys and went to prison and the mother found that two year old had been molested as well.

these vile creatures always leave an overwhelming sense of shame upon their victims. the children recreate a low sense of self throughout their lives. The most tragic part is when parents discover what their kids have been through they often reinforce the shame by expressing the pain they feel. Making the child feel guilt for hurting mommy and daddy.

Bernanke Says U.S. Fiscal Outlook ‘Somewhat Dark’
March 25 (Bloomberg) — Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke told lawmakers today that the U.S. government’s budget outlook is “somewhat dark” and Congress needs to agree on a plan to reduce the deficit.
He spoke in response to a question about the budget impact of the health-care overhaul signed into law this week by President Barack Obama. Bernanke declined to discuss the effect of the health measure, saying he didn’t want to “second guess” the Congressional Budget Office.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — President Obama mocked Republicans’ campaign to try to repeal his new health care law, saying Thursday they should “Go for it” and see how well they fare with voters.
“Be my guest,” Obama said in prepared remarks for the first of many appearances around the country to sell the overhaul to voters before the fall congressional elections. “I welcome that fight. Because I don’t believe the American people are going to put the insurance industry back in the driver’s seat.”
With emotions raw around the nation over the party-line vote to approve the nearly $1 trillion, 10-year law, Obama took the opposition to task for “fear-mongering and overheated rhetoric.”
“If you turn on the news, you’ll see that those same folks are still shouting about how the world will end because we passed this bill,” said Obama, appearing before thousands in this college town where he first, as a presidential candidate three years ago, unveiled his health care proposals. The White House released the text of his speech in advance.
No Republican lawmakers voted for the overhaul, a sweeping package that will change how almost every American will receive and pay for medical treatment. Many in the GOP are predicting it will prove devastating in November for the Democrats who voted for it.

Gasparino: Media ‘Cheerleaders’ Mean ‘Ideologue’ Obama and Dems Won’t Pay in November
Conventional wisdom on the right and left has been that President Obama and the Democrats will pay a heavy price in the November mid-term elections for passing the deeply unpopular health care reform bill. But Fox Business Network’s Charlie Gasparino isn’t so sure.

Obama: please donate to defend health reform (an email)
scarlett –
We knew that power concedes nothing. So did President Obama. So did the members of Congress who courageously voted for reform, knowing that the special interests and the extreme right wing would retaliate swiftly.
The attacks are fierce. Deceptive ads are hitting the airwaves in swing districts. GOP lawmakers are pushing to repeal reform — and preventing the Senate from performing basic functions. A few Republican attorneys general have launched a baseless attack to overturn the legislation. But that’s not even the worst of it.
A conservative blogger posted the home address of Congressman Tom Perriello, urging tea partiers to “drop by.” Other members have had death threats. Democratic offices have been vandalized.
Please chip in $5 or more to defend health reform — and those in Congress who fought to make it possible.
Showing support for reform and those who fought for it is our number one priority right now. We’re going all-out, organizing grassroots events around the country, running supportive ads on the air, and making sure that every American knows the truth about the historic legislation that representatives voted into law.
Members of Congress know that reform would not have passed without all of your incredible work. But we also know that it would not have passed without their courage.
Together, along with President Obama, we beat the insurance companies and brought affordable coverage to 32 million without it, reduced costs for families and small businesses, and created the toughest patient protections in history.
A few weeks ago, we made a simple promise to these representatives: You fight for health reform, we’ll fight for you. It’s time to hold up our end of the deal. Please donate $5 or more:

In Iowa, Obama Calls Health Bill ‘Pro-Business’
By SHERYL GAY STOLBERG
IOWA CITY — President Obama on Thursday began an aggressive White House public relations blitz to sell his newly signed health care overhaul to a skeptical and sometimes confused public, calling the measure “pro-jobs” and “pro-business” and taunting Republicans who are vowing to repeal it.
“My attitude is, go for it!” Mr. Obama declared, challenging his critics at a campaign-style rally here. “If these congressmen in Washington want to come here to Iowa and tell small business owners that they plan to take away their tax credits and essentially raise their taxes, be my guest.”
Several thousand people turned out to hear the president speak at the University of Iowa Field House here, in the city where he first laid out detailed plans for “affordable, universal health care in America” as a presidential candidate in May 2007. But while the gymnasium was filled with cheering supporters, the president also faced heckling, over one feature of his initial proposal that did not make it into the law: a “public option,” or government-backed insurance plan.
“What about the public option?” a man called out, interrupting the president in an exchange that seemed momentarily to throw Mr. Obama off stride by forcing him to depart from the remarks he was reading off a TelePrompTer.
“That’s not in it!” Mr. Obama called back.
“Why not?” the man replied.
“Because we couldn’t get it through Congress, that’s why,” Mr. Obama said. The heckler started up again, and the president admonished him: “There’s no need to shout, young man, no need to shout. Thirty two people — 32 million people are going to have health insurance because of this legislation.”

As too many know, to live in a ‘family’ system that knows the incest (RAPE) is going on, year after year and ignores it, blames the victim or treats the victim as “the shame of problem” is more damaging to the psyche of the victim than the abuse, itself.
I don’t blame any person for practicing their Catholic faith. But, I will absolutely blame those that actually molested, those that cover it up and those that would defend an institution that refuses to recognize itself, its celibacy policy and its cover-up (SILENCE) as a haven, invitation, and infirmary for molesters of children.
For me, sacrificing the mental and emotional health of children – some, for the rest of their lives – for sexual gratification – or to cover it up, is as evil as evil can get.
Last night – I finally told an unrepentant, arrogant, immediate family member exactly what I thought of him – on his voice mail – because he is still too much of an abusive coward to hear the truth of the mental and emotional damage that he caused.
I am grateful for this post – it’s timing is affirming and comforting on a day of feeling completely un-affirmed.
That is what is so maddening, still, after all of these years and exactly why I have a similar fury with the Catholic Church on this issue.
IT IS AS PERSONAL AS PERSONAL CAN GET.

Here is one just talked about on Fox and I don’t think it’s been posted yet…
Baltimore Judge Marries Accused Abuser to Victim During Trial to Avoid Testimony
A Baltimore County judge has been reassigned after pausing the trial of an accused batterer to marry him to his alleged victim so she could avoid testifying against him.
A Baltimore judge paused in a domestic violence trial for a marriage ceremony.
Judge Darrell Russell Jr., the Baltimore County District Court judge assigned to the non-jury trial, performed the wedding ceremony in his chambers for defendant Frederick Wood and his girlfriend. Prosecutors say they were powerless to stop it.
“It’s very frustrating. We view very seriously the crime of domestic violence,” Deputy State’s Attorney Leo Ryan said. “We understand that very often the nature of this crime means the victims are reluctant to testify.”
As a parting comment, according to an audio recording of the proceedings, Russell left the new groom with these sentiments;
“Mr. Wood, I found you not guilty, so I can’t sentence you as a defendant in any crimes … but earlier today, I sentenced you to life married to her.”
A spokeswoman for the Maryland Judiciary Office of Communications and Public Affairs confirmed today that Russell has been indefinitely reassigned and will no longer be allowed to preside over domestic violence cases.
“Effective today Judge Russell has been reassigned to chambers meaning he will not be hearing any cases at all, and the work that he’ll be doing in chambers is reviewing motions and civil cases,” Angelita Plemmer said.
The reassignment was ordered by District Court Chief Judge Ben Clyburn.
Both Wood, 29, and his girlfriend, a 27-year-old mother of two young sons whose name is being withheld, were in court last week for Wood’s trial on a misdemeanor second-degree assault charge stemming from a Nov. 29 incident at their home.
According to police reports, the woman told police that Wood picked a fight with her at 4 a.m., smacking her in the face and kicking her in the side. As the alleged assault continued, she told police, Wood banged her head into the wall and dragged her though the house before she was able to flee.

Don;t know if this was posted before but it is absolutely infuriating from so many angles.
Can judges be disbarred? Because this guy (Judge Darrell Russell) needs to step down from the bench, IMMEDIATELY. But even more troubling is the possibility that the young woman may have “agreed” to marry her abuser so she could invoke her marital privilege. Do ya think maybe she was terrorized into doing so – Stockholm Syndrome perhaps? >:/
===================================
Judge Married Woman, Suspected Abuser
“Your honor, Mr. Wood now has his marriage license with him,” the defense attorney said.
“I can take notice of that because I just married them — performed the ceremony — back in my chambers,” Russell responded.
Wood’s new wife then took the witness stand and invoked her marital privilege, Miller reported.
The case came to an abrupt end, with the judge making a parting comment.
“Mr. Wood, I found you not guilty, so I can’t sentence you as a defendant in any crimes, but earlier today, I sentenced you to life married to her,” Russell said.
Nowhere on the recording of the proceeding could the I-Team hear the judge ask the alleged victim if she wanted to get married.

Well, it is now officially done.
Congress completes overhaul of health care
WASHINGTON – Capping an epic struggle, congressional Democrats put the final touches Thursday to historic legislation enshrining health care as the right of every citizen. Republicans vowed to campaign for repeal in the fall election season, drawing a quick retort from President Barack Obama: “I welcome that fight.”
The president spoke in Iowa as the Senate voted 56-43 for legislation making changes, including better benefits for seniors and low-income and middle-class families, to the bill he signed into law with a flourish at the White House on Tuesday.
The House added its approval a few hours later, 220-207, clearing the way for Obama’s signature on the second of two bills that marked the culmination of what the president called “a year of debate and a century of trying” to ensure coverage for nearly all in a nation where millions lack it.

For all you Sarah Palin supporters, Greta just announced Sarah will have her own ‘reality’ show, 8 parts on TLC. It will be about Sarah showing off Alaska.
I have been watching Greta since 2008, and always loved her as an attorney during the OJ trial. I have been listening, trying to figure out if she is a Repug. (she interviews a lot of Repugs I don’t like) or a Dem. (her husband was a strong Hillary supporter.
Today I am ready to guess she is a centralist Democrat. She admitted today to a Repug. senator that she wanted Heath Care…….didn’t say, O’care. I think she wanted Hillary’s Universal Heath Care.

Well supposedly that will begin the end of days and the Third world war will be against the Muslims.
Pope Benedict XVI…The Glory of the Olive. The Order of St. Benedict has said this Pope will come from their order. It is interesting that Jesus gave his apocalyptic prophecy about the end of time from the Mount of Olives. This Pope will reign during the beginning of the tribulation Jesus spoke of. The 111th prophesy is “Gloria Olivae” (The Glory of the Olive). The Order of Saint Benedict has claimed that this pope will come from their ranks. Saint Benedict himself prophesied that before the end of the world his Order, known also as the Olivetans, will triumphantly lead the Catholic Church in its fight against evil.
10. PETER THE ROMAN – This final Pope will likely be Satan, taking the form of a man named Peter who will gain a worldwide allegiance and adoration. He will be the final antichrist which prophecy students have long foretold. If it were possible, even the very elect would be deceived. The 112th prophesy states: “In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Petrus Romanus, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations; after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End.”
Malachy’s final words, “Rome, the seat of the Vatican, will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people.”
And many more predictions can be read on this website.

This is how the Fraud acts when he doesn’t get what he wants and should make his bros in the middle east pretty happy:
Binyamin Netanyahu humiliated after Barack Obama ‘dumped him for dinner’
For a head of government to visit the White House and not pose for photographers is rare. For a key ally to be left to his own devices while the President withdraws to have dinner in private was, until this week, unheard of. Yet that is how Binyamin Netanyahu was treated by President Obama on Tuesday night, according to Israeli reports on a trip viewed in Jerusalem as a humiliation.
After failing to extract a written promise of concessions on settlements, Mr Obama walked out of his meeting with Mr Netanyahu but invited him to stay at the White House, consult with advisers and “let me know if there is anything new”, a US congressman, who spoke to the Prime Minister, said.
“It was awful,” the congressman said. One Israeli newspaper called the meeting “a hazing in stages”, poisoned by such mistrust that the Israeli delegation eventually left rather than risk being eavesdropped on a White House telephone line. Another said that the Prime Minister had received “the treatment reserved for the President of Equatorial Guinea”.
Left to talk among themselves Mr Netanyahu and his aides retreated to the Roosevelt Room. He spent a further half-hour with Mr Obama and extended his stay for a day of emergency talks to try to restart peace negotiations. However, he left last night with no official statement from either side. He returned to Israel yesterday isolated after what Israeli media have called a White House ambush for which he is largely to blame.
Sources said that Mr Netanyahu failed to impress Mr Obama with a flow chart purporting to show that he was not responsible for the timing of announcements of new settlement projects in east Jerusalem. Mr Obama was said to be livid when such an announcement derailed the visit to Israel by Joe Biden, the Vice-President, this month and his anger towards Israel does not appear to have cooled.
Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary, cast doubt on minor details in Israeli accounts of the meeting but did not deny claims that it amounted to a dressing down for the Prime Minister, whose refusal to freeze settlements is seen in Washington as the main barrier to resuming peace talks.

A bullet that hit a window in Republican U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor’s office building appears to have been fired randomly into the air, police said Thursday.
Cantor announced at a Capitol Hill news conference Thursday that a shot had been fired into his Richmond campaign office.
In addressing reporters, he denounced threats and vandalism against Democrats who passed sweeping health care reform legislation that has angered conservatives, but accused senior Democrats of inciting retribution against Republicans.
“It is reckless to use these incidents as media vehicles for political gain,” Cantor told reporters.

In White House Vs. Fox News War Of Words, Who Gets Your Vote?
The stories about what the Obama White House has to say about Fox News Channel keep coming.
There was White House communications director saying telling Howard Kurtz of The Washington Post and CNN “let’s not pretend they’re a news network the way CNN is.”
Also last week it was NPR’s David Folkenflik reporting that “the White House is taking direct aim at Fox News, the news organization that is the home to the most potent collection of its conservative critics.”
This week it’s ABC News’ Jake Tapper asking why the Obama team was treating one of the “sister organizations” so badly — and the news that the White House had tried to block a Fox News reporter from interviewing the so-called pay czar. (After all the networks objected, the White House relented.)
It seems like time for a survey:
I’m supporting: (Poll Closed)
The White House on this one; Fox News isn’t “fair and balanced.” 9% (256965 votes)
Fox News on this one; it asks questions others don’t and the White House should be able to handle them. 89% (2426899 votes)
Neither side. They’re both trying to play this “feud” to their advantage. 1% (34117 votes)

Half of U.S. Home Loan Modifications Default Again
March 25 (Bloomberg) — More than half of U.S. borrowers who received loan modifications on delinquent mortgages defaulted again after nine months, according to a federal report.
The re-default rate of loans modified in the first quarter of 2009 was 51.5 percent by the end of the year, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Office of Thrift Supervision said in a joint report today. The figure, which measures payments at least 30 days late, climbed to 57.9 percent for changes made in the prior 12 months.
U.S. homeowners are struggling to make payments as depressed housing prices leave them owing more than their properties are worth. About 24 percent of properties with a mortgage were underwater in the fourth quarter, First American CoreLogic said last month. The median price of a U.S. home was $165,100 in February, down 28 percent from its peak in July 2006, according to the National Association of Realtors.
Modifications are “clearly not working well and it’s not a surprise,” said Sam Khater, a senior economist at First American CoreLogic in Tysons Corner, Virginia. “It’s pointless to rewrite these loans because they’re underwater.”
The number of homes with mortgage payments at least 60 days late climbed 2.39 million in the fourth quarter, up 13.1 percent from the prior three months and 49.6 percent from the year earlier period, the quarterly Mortgage Metrics report said.

We need to start calling the HC mess what it is–wealth redistribution. The latest ploy came to light in the last few days. People who worked hard for big companies will probably lose valuable medical benefits as retirees. Those benefits were part and parcel of their employment agreements. So, that means their “wealth” is being given to someone who may have chosen to not work. I do know that some people may at this time be unable to find a job, but over the years there were jobs unfilled by legal citizens. We all know families who have been on welfare for generations, and we all know individuals who are more interested in booze or drugs than holding down a job. It will not be the millionaires alone who foot this bill. It will also be the average joe and the average jane. That particular part of the bill only took up a small part of one page of the 2K plus pages. What will be next?
GAPeach 03.26.10 at 10:32 pm
One thing I haven’t seen on any feminist boards is the fact that at the present time abortions are what I would consider inexpensive—in the 100s of dollars. If insurance does cover abortions than that price will skyrocket. Hasn’t anyone ever gotten the with insurance quote along with the without insurance quote? I’m thinking the new cost would possibly be around $8000 based on my recent procedure—a uterine ablation. So the deductible with come into play which means women will pay $1000 or more. I’m thinking that it’s best to keep things the way they are. Yes, it sounds bad for the cause, but if cost is important at all then let it be. We need to use our heads.
Now about the Catholic church. I consider myself to be a very tolerant person when it comes to other’s religious beliefs, but I have no idea how a decent person would want to remain a Catholic. What these priests have done, starting with the pope on down, is disgusting and criminal. The Catholic system is one that keeps men in bizarre power positions over their followers. It is anything but Christian.

By LAURIE GOODSTEIN and DAVID CALLENDER
They were deaf, but they were not silent. For decades, a group of men who were sexually abused as children by the Rev. Lawrence C. Murphy at a school for the deaf in Wisconsin reported to every type of official they could think of that he was a danger, according to the victims and church documents.
They told other priests. They told three archbishops of Milwaukee. They told two police departments and the district attorney. They used sign language, written affidavits and graphic gestures to show what exactly Father Murphy had done to them. But their reports fell on the deaf ears of hearing people.
This week, they learned that Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI, received letters about Father Murphy in 1996 from Archbishop Rembert G. Weakland of Milwaukee, who said that the deaf community needed “a healing response from the Church.” The Vatican sat on the case, then equivocated, and when Father Murphy died in 1998, he died a priest.
“That man should have been in prison for a very long time, but he was lucky,” Steven Geier, one of Father Murphy’s victims, said Thursday. “What about me? I wasn’t supposed to touch girls. What gave him the right to be able to do that? Father Murphy constantly thought about sex with children, and he got away with it.”
Young victims of sexual abuse are often so confused, ashamed or traumatized that they wait years to report the violations. Some never say a word. One of the remarkable aspects of the Father Murphy case is that young victims began alerting the authorities in the mid-1950s, when sexual abuse was hardly even a part of the public vocabulary.

“That priest, the Rev. Tom Schroeder, 72, who led Masses for the deaf in Madison from 1970 to 1992, said in an interview Friday that he remembered Mr. Geier’s telling him about Father Murphy. Father Schroeder said that he told a nun, who told another nun who was a dormitory supervisor at St. John’s, but that the supervisor did not believe it and nothing ever came of it.
“I assumed that if enough people told her, she would finally believe it,” Father Schroeder said.”

“he told a nun, who told another nun who was a dormitory supervisor at St. John’s,”
this sentence reminds me of an old commercial
he told a nun, who told a nun, who told two nuns, and so on and so on…. Unbelievable!!!

This NYT article on the Tea Party movement sounds a lot like the ABC article “Palin governed from the center.” Both are deliberately avoiding social issues so as to attract Democrats and Independents to their real issues, which are economic.

Tea Party Avoids Divisive Social Issues
For decades, faith and family have been at the center of the conservative movement. But as the Tea Party infuses conservatism with new energy, its leaders deliberately avoid discussion of issues like gay marriage or abortion.
God, life and family get little if any mention in statements or manifestos. The motto of the Tea Party Patriots, a large coalition of groups, is “fiscal responsibility, limited government, and free markets.” The Independence Caucus questionnaire, which many Tea Party groups use to evaluate candidates, poses 80 questions, most on the proper role of government, tax policy and the federal budgeting process, and virtually none on social issues.
[....]
Tea Party leaders argue that the country can ill afford the discussion about social issues when it is passing on enormous debts to future generations. But the focus is also strategic: leaders think they can attract independent voters if they stay away from divisive issues.
“We should be creating the biggest tent possible around the economic conservative issue,” said Ryan Hecker, the organizer behind the Contract From America. “I think social issues may matter to particular individuals, but at the end of the day, the movement should be agnostic about it.

Be careful about the term ‘abortion pill’ and ‘abortifacients.’ It’s probably better to say ‘emergency contraceptive’.
A ‘morning after’ pill which PREVENTS OVULATION is not an ‘abortion pill’ or an ‘abortificient’.
Except by the very odd thinking of those who want to ban ALL birth control pills (and condoms and sex education and everything else)!

Is our lamestream press even talking about this at all? Now I’m all for reducing paper and increasing efficiency but this idea of any government Tom, Dickhead, or Harry having access to my medical records is indeed downright scary.
If anyone has time to go through the more than 2,700 pages in the Senate version of the current health care reform bill, there are some aspects of this legislation that should send a chill down the spine of any American. But, for a moment, let’s take time to review how medical records have been shared in the past…
-Snip-
One of the provisions within the bill is that all Americans medical information should be compiled and stored electronically. Supposedly, this data will strictly be meant to stay in-house, as my nurse ensured me it would be. However, if health care reform becomes law, if it desires, the government will have access to the medical records of every American citizen…
-snip-
It has already been demonstrated health commissions will be created under Obamacare which will determine who will be entitled to medical services. Last year, a federal panel came out with a finding which said women ages 40 – 49 did not need yearly mammograms…
-Snip-
Under Obamacare, there would be similar panels, staffed by government bureaucrats and statisticians who would hand down decisions based on information other than data provided by medical experts, as was the case with the decision made by the federal panel regarding mammograms. The bottom line here would be the rationing of health care services to save money, ultimately excluding groups which did not fall within a statistical matrix.
Without a national database which included detailed information about the medical status of all Americans, these panels would not be able to function. Therefore, ultimately, information—compiled in good faith by doctors who have private practices or physicians who work for larger medical centers—will be made available to the government whose intentions may not be in the best interest of a patient.

There is an AHAB IN THE WHITE HOUSE
From Phil Radford, executive director of Greenpeace USA (my emphasis
throughout):I cannot believe that I am writing you
this letter …
The international ban on commercial whaling, which Greenpeace fought
tirelessly to pass in the 1980’s, is now in critical danger of being
overturned.
A proposal has been put forth at the International W…haling Commission
(IWC) that would not only reinstate commercial whaling around the
world, it would legitimize Japan’s “scientific” slaughter in the
Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. Nearly 25 years of protection for the
whales could be tossed out the window if this proposal passes at the
next IWC meeting in June 2010.
Shockingly, the Obama administration’s representatives at the
IWC actually support the deal to reinstate commercial whaling and are
urging other nations to do the same. The delegates say that their
directive comes directly from President Obama himself.http://www.distantocean.com/2010/03/theres-an-ahab-in-the-white-house.html

Gonorrhea Lectim….serious disease
Very important information has just been made public that I think is
something you should all be aware of:
Gonorrhea Lectim The Center for Disease Control has issued a warning
about a new virulent strain of this old disease.
The disease is called Gonorrhea Lectim. It’s pronounced “Gonna
re-elect ‘im.”
The disease is contracted through dangerous and high risk behavior
involving putting your cranium up your rectum. Many victims contracted
it in 2008 ….. but now most people after having been infected for the
past 1-2 years are starting to realize how destructive this sickness is.
It’s sad because it is so easily cured with a new procedure just coming
on the market called Votemout! It is pronounced ” Vote m out”
You take the first dose/step in 2010 and the second dosage in 2012 and
simply don’t engage in such behavior again, otherwise it could become
permanent and eventually wipe out all life as we know it. Several states
are already on top of this like Virginia and New Jersey, and apparently
now Massachusetts with many more seeing the writing on the wall. Please
pass this important message on to all those bright folk you really care
about.

FAQ on Government Access to Medical Records (translation – Canada Free Press got it right – the govt. will have access)
If you have visited a doctor’s office, hospital or pharmacy over the past few months, you may have received a notice telling you that your medical records may be turned over to the government for law enforcement or intelligence purposes.[i] More often than not, these notices contain ominous language like:
“National Security and Intelligence Activities Or Protective Services. We may disclose your health information to authorized federal officials who are conducting national security and intelligence activities or providing protective services to the President or other important officials.”[ii]
These notices have heightened the growing public concern over the privacy of medical records and made it plain that the recent “Medical Privacy” rules – enacted under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) – offer patients far less protection than the Federal Government promises. Many people have started to ask questions about these practices, including:

Ski Resorts – New Hampshire – less employees will be hired next year, thanks to HC bill
http://www.wmur.com/money/22957803/detail.html
Businesses that don’t provide health insurance to those workers could face a $2,000 fine for every employee without coverage. For ski resorts, 120 days would stretch from Thanksgiving until the first weekend in April.
“We want to comply with the law, but we need to do it in a way that’s economically feasible,” said Alice Pearce of SkiNH.
Pearce said the original Senate version of the health care bill had a more forgiving threshold. It used a 150-day baseline and imposed a $750 fine. SkiNH said that model would have provided enough leeway for ski areas, but big ski resorts could now face about $1 million in fines if they don’t comply.
“It could result in fewer employees being hired, and we’d hate to see that because employees are important for guest services,” Pearce said.

Your Medical Records Aren’t Secure
In 2002, under President George W. Bush, the right of a patient to control his most sensitive personal data—from prescriptions to DNA—was eliminated by federal regulators implementing the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Those privacy notices you sign in doctors’ offices do not actually give you any control over your personal data; they merely describe how the data will be used and disclosed.
In a January 2009 speech, President Barack Obama said that his administration wants every American to have an electronic health record by 2014, and last year’s stimulus bill allocated over $36 billion to build electronic record systems. Meanwhile, the Senate health-care bill just approved by the House of Representatives on Sunday requires certain kinds of research and reporting to be done using electronic health records. Electronic records, Mr. Obama said in his 2009 speech, “will cut waste, eliminate red tape and reduce the need to repeat expensive medical tests [and] save lives by reducing the deadly but preventable medical errors that pervade our health-care system.”
But electronic medical records won’t accomplish any of these goals if patients fear sharing information with doctors because they know it isn’t private. When patients realize they can’t control who sees their electronic health records, they will be far less likely to tell their doctors about drinking problems, feelings of depression, sexual problems, or exposure to sexually transmitted diseases. In 2005, a California Healthcare Foundation poll found that one in eight Americans avoided seeing a regular doctor, asked a doctor to alter a diagnosis, paid privately for a test, or avoided tests altogether due to privacy concerns.
Today our lab test results are disclosed to insurance companies before we even know the results. Prescriptions are data-mined by pharmacies, pharmaceutical technology vendors, hospitals and are sold to insurers, drug companies, employers and others willing to pay for the information to use in making decisions about you, your job or your treatments, or for research. Self-insured employers can access employees’ entire health records, including medications. And in the past five years, according to the nonprofit Privacy Rights Clearinghouse, more than 45 million electronic health records were either lost, stolen by insiders (hospital or government-agency employees, health IT vendors, etc.), or hacked from outside.

Why The Peaceful Majority Is Irrelevant
By Paul E. Marek
“Very few people were true Nazis” he said, “but, many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. (snip)
We are told again and again by “experts” and “talking heads” that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unquantified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the specter of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.(snip)
It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. The hard quantifiable fact is, that the “peaceful majority” is the “silent majority” and it is cowed and extraneous.(snip)
Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don’t speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awake one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun. Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Bosnians, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others, have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late. Scolding G.O.P., Obama Makes 15 Recess Appointments
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Filed at 6:27 p.m. ET
WASHINGTON (AP) — Fed up with waiting, President Barack Obama announced Saturday he would bypass a vacationing Senate and name 15 people to key administration jobs, wielding for the first time the blunt political tool known as the recess appointment.
The move immediately deepened the divide between the Democratic president and Republicans in the Senate following a long, bruising fight over health care. Obama revealed his decision by blistering Republicans, accusing them of holding up nominees for months solely to try to score a political advantage on him.
”I simply cannot allow partisan politics to stand in the way of the basic functioning of government,” Obama said in a statement.
:::snip::::
The White House dropped the news in a press release on a quiet Saturday, with Obama at Camp David and lawmakers home in their districts.
The recess appointments mean the 15 people could serve in their jobs through the end of 2011, when the next Senate finishes its term. A recess appointment ends at the completion of the next Senate session or when a person is nominated and confirmed to the job, whichever comes first.

Who’s White?
By LINDA GORDON
Nell Irvin Painter’s title, “The History of White People,” is a provocation in several ways: it’s monumental in sweep, and its absurd grandiosity should call to mind the fact that writing a “History of Black People” might seem perfectly reasonable to white people. But the title is literally accurate, because the book traces characterizations of the lighter-skinned people we call white today, starting with the ancient Scythians. For those who have not yet registered how much these characterizations have changed, let me assure you that sensory observation was not the basis of racial nomenclature.

General Motors recalls heavy duty vans
WASHINGTON, March 27 (UPI) — General Motors Co. said nearly 5,000 of the U.S. company’s heavy duty vans are being recalled amid concerns of potential engine fires.
The Detroit News said Saturday while General Motors is recalling thousands of heavy-duty 2010 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana passenger and cargo vans, GM spokesman Alan Adler assured the public the recall issue has not resulted in any accidents or injuries to date.
Adler said three fires did take place after the vans were manufactured and left the assembly plant. The vans being recalled were all manufactured in February or March.
Owners of the vehicles are being asked to stop driving the vans and General Motors is no longer selling the vehicles.
The Detroit News said van owners are also being asked to keep the vehicles outside away from buildings and, if owners are capable, to disconnect the vehicle’s battery cables.
General Motors said the recall is focused on the 2500, three-quarter ton, and 3500, one-ton, Series vans.
http://www.upi.com/Business_News/2010/03/27/General-Motors-recalls-heavy-duty-vans/UPI-19281269704705/
Cars used to be manufactured and seldom, if ever, have recalls. Now, we have cars that catch on fire and accelerate by themselves. If only 3 caught fire after the vans left the assembly plant, did the others caught fire before?

Scarlet: I’ve been avoiding the news again, although did catch scroll on local TV saying that O had negotiated best deal with Russia in 20 years. Wondered how he did that, staying in Washington and all to make sure POPP (President Obama’s Pet Project) made it through the congress. Since then he’s been busy bragging about it. But I digress. I’ve not heard a peep about GMC’s recall. But I do remember my father informing me as a young child that GMC stood for Grand Mess of Crap. Am certain many have heard that.

Most Say Tea Party Has Better Understanding of Issues than Congress
In official Washington, some consider the Tea Party movement a fringe element in society, but voters across the nation feel closer to the Tea Party movement than they do to Congress.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 52% of U.S. voters believe the average member of the Tea Party movement has a better understanding of the issues facing America today than the average member of Congress. Only 30% believe that those in Congress have a better understanding of the key issues facing the nation.
When it comes to those issues, 47% think that their own political views are closer to those of the average Tea Party member than to the views of the average member of Congress. On this point, 26% feel closer to Congress.
Finally, 46% of voters say that the average Tea Party member is more ethical than the average member of Congress. Twenty-seven percent (27%) say that the average member of Congress is more ethical.
As you would expect, there is a wide divide between the Political Class and Mainstream Americans on these questions. Seventy-five percent (75%) of those in the Political Class say that members of Congress are better informed on the issues. Among Mainstream Americans, 68% have the opposite view, and only 16% believe Congress is better informed.

AP Exclusive: `Smart’ meters have security holes
SAN FRANCISCO – Computer-security researchers say new “smart” meters that are designed to help deliver electricity more efficiently also have flaws that could let hackers tamper with the power grid in previously impossible ways.
At the very least, the vulnerabilities open the door for attackers to jack up strangers’ power bills. These flaws also could get hackers a key step closer to exploiting one of the most dangerous capabilities of the new technology, which is the ability to remotely turn someone else’s power on and off.
The attacks could be pulled off by stealing meters — which can be situated outside of a home — and reprogramming them. Or an attacker could sit near a home or business and wirelessly hack the meter from a laptop, according to Joshua Wright, a senior security analyst with InGuardians Inc. The firm was hired by three utilities to study their smart meters’ resistance to attack.
Unlike traditional electric meters that merely record power use — and then must be read in person once a month by a meter reader — smart meters measure consumption in real time. By being networked to computers in electric utilities, the new meters can signal people or their appliances to take certain actions, such as reducing power usage when electricity prices spike.

Murphy,
I saw an article about the priest Murphy. Apparently, the Church stopped Murphy’s trial after he sent a letter to the Vatican saying he was ill and wanted to live the rest of his life in the “dignity” of the priesthood. He did not deserve any dignity. His victims never had the satisfaction of seeing him brought to justice.

White men shun Democrats
By DAVID PAUL KUHN
First published in print: Saturday, March 27, 2010
Millions of white men who voted for Barack Obama are walking away from the Democratic Party, and it appears increasingly likely that they’ll take the midterms elections in November with them. Their departure could well lead to a GOP landslide on a scale not seen since 1994.
Mobile Alerts
Get school closing alerts on your mobile device.
For more than three decades before the 2008 election, no Democratic president had won a majority of the electorate. In part, that was because of low support — never more than 38 percent — among white male voters. Things changed with Obama, who not only won a majority of all people voting, but also pulled in 41 percent of white male voters.
Polling suggests that the shift was not because of Obama but because of the financial meltdown that preceded the election. It was only after the economic collapse that Obama’s white male support climbed above the 38 percent ceiling. It was also at that point that Obama first sustained a clear majority among all registered voters, according to the Gallup tracking poll.
It looked for a moment as though Democrats had finally reached the men of Bruce Springsteen’s music, bringing them around to the progressive values Springsteen himself has long endorsed. But liberal analysts failed to understand that these new Democrats were still firmly rooted in American moderation.
Pollsters regularly ask voters whether they would rather see a Democrat or Republican win their district. By February, support for Democrats among white people (male and female) was three percentage points lower than in February 1994, the year of the last Republican landslide.
Today, among whites, only 35 percent of men and 43 percent of women say they will back Democrats in the fall election. Women’s preferences have remained steady since July 2009. But white men’s support for a Democratic Congress has fallen eight percentage points, according to Gallup.
White men have moved away from Obama as well. The same proportion of white women approve of him — 46 percent, according to Gallup — as voted for him in 2008. But only 38 percent of white men approve of the President, which means that millions of white men who voted for Obama have now lost faith in him.
The migration of white men from the Democratic Party was evident in the election of Republican Scott Brown in Massachusetts. His opponent, a white woman, won 52 percent of white women. But white men favored Brown by a 60 percent to 38 percent margin, according to Fabrizio, McLaughlin & Associates polling.
It’s no accident that the flight of white males from the Democratic Party has come as the government has assumed a bigger role, including in banking and health care. Among whites, 71 percent of men and 56 percent of women favor a smaller government with fewer services over a larger government with more services, according to ABC/Washington Post polling.
Zee 03.28.10 at 11:49 am
it’s not surprising at all that these white men were responsible for tipping it to Brown…or that they supported Obama in 2008. The glaring common issue is not Obama… it’s that the delicate pigs would feel too emasculated to vote for a woman.
Zee 03.28.10 at 11:52 am
So much for crunchy granola Seattle: they just ruled that it’s a-ok for cops to multiple taser a pregnant woman (which left permanent scars) for refusing to sign a traffic ticket, after they’d written it up and handed it to her. This was at 8:30 am outside her son’s school, and she thought signing the ticket would be admitting guilt. She posed no threat and told the officers she was pregnant, but they multiple tasered her and pulled her out and put her face down on the pavement anyway.

Oncor faces class-action lawsuit over smart meters
DALLAS – An attorney has filed a class-action lawsuit against Oncor, accusing it of fraud, after hundreds of consumers have complained of expensive electric bills in recent months.
“I think that Oncor knows what’s going on,” said attorney Jason Berent.
He represents Robert and Jennifer Cordts.
Their electric bills have been stunning: $1,800 in January, more than $900 in February, then another $1,800 bill this week. It’s almost $5,000 in charges in three months.
They had averaged $400 to $700 a month, Jennifer said.
“My husband’s absolutely furious,” she continued. “You know, I’m probably a little scared. These are big bills. We feel like the little guy!”
Cordts blames her Smart Meter. Their habits haven’t changed, she said, but their usage has skyrocketed.
The couple’s year-to-year comparisons show a difference in usage.
In January 2009, they used 6,989 kWh. Twelve months later, they were billed for 11,946 kWh – their highest usage ever.
Oncor said it had communication issues reading the Cordts meter in February but their usage was still 4,308 kWh higher than the year before.
Then in March 2009, the used 2,569 kWh. A year later, Oncor said, the couple consumed 8,816 kWh.
Friday, the Cordts sued Oncor for fraud as the lead plaintiffs.
Oncor said the facts are its meters haven’t been proved inaccurate.
The utility maintains cold weather and inefficient heating caused high bills, along with consumers paying too much per kilowatt hour for electricity.

Is it a “smear” if it’s true?
“towards the courage of not allowing oneself to be intimidated by the petty gossip of dominant opinion.”
Petty gossip? Someone please tell me what planet men in power live on, pleasethankyou.
Pope, in Sermon, Says He Won’t Be Intimidated
VATICAN CITY (Reuters) — Pope Benedict, facing one of the gravest crises of his pontificate as a sexual abuse scandal sweeps the Church, indicated on Sunday that his faith would give him the courage not to be intimidated by critics.
The 82-year-old pontiff led tens of thousands of people in a sunny St. Peter’s Square in a Palm Sunday service at the start of Holy Week events commemorating the last days in the life of Jesus.
While he did not directly mention the scandal involving sexual abuse of children by priests, parts of his sermon could be applicable to the crisis.
The pontiff said faith in God helps lead one “towards the courage of not allowing oneself to be intimidated by the petty gossip of dominant opinion.”
He also spoke of how man can sometimes “fall to the lowest, vulgar levels” and “sink into the swamp of sin and dishonesty.”
One prayer asked God to help “the young and those who work to educate and protect them,” which Vatican Radio said was intended to “sum up the feelings of the Church at this difficult time when it confronts the plague of pedophilia.”
As the scandal has convulsed the Church, the Vatican has gone on the offensive, attacking the media for what it called an “ignoble attempt” to smear Pope Benedict and his top advisers.

STOCK UP ON FORM 1099s
Quincy businessman Mike Nobis went to Springfield on Tuesday for an informational meeting on how the new health care law will affect businesses.
“I just about had a heart attack … when I learned that in 2012 every business is going to have to do a 1099 (tax report) on every business-to-business transaction over $600,” Nobis said.
Nobis wondered what those hundreds of business-to-business transactions have to do with health care. Experts with the National Federation of Independent Business speculate that the 1099 provisions were going to help generate fines when “16,000 new auditors” are hired by the Internal Revenue Service.
Paying workers too little will trigger fines, and providing too much insurance coverage will trigger penalties.
“If that many people are going to get insurance, somebody’s going to pay for it. It’s a $900 billion cost, and the government has one way of raising money, and that’s to levy taxes,” Cox said.
According to the National Federation of Independent Business’ analysis, employers with 50 or more employees will face penalties of $3,000 per subsidized employee or $750 for all employees, whichever is lower.
Nobis said that’s a huge cost because families earning about $88,000 a year would be eligible for subsidies based on the federal poverty level of $22,050.
Companies and individuals with health savings accounts or flexible savings accounts will be affected in 2011. Some purchases will no longer be allowed, including most over-the-counter medications prescribed by doctors. HSAs and FSAs will be de-emphasized as health care reforms take effect. Maximum annual contributions to HSAs will be capped at $2,500, down from $5,000.
Companies that provide expensive insurance plans — exceeding $8,500 a year for an individual or $23,000 for a family — will face a 40 percent excise tax starting in 2013. This provision has caused many business owners to question why Congress wants to limit health care by attacking what are called “Cadillac plans.”

But….one of the judges was a woman, who ruled that the cops were in order by tasering a nonthreatening citizen who’d already been cited and received her ticket. they overturned the lower court, which found in favor of the victim.
I wonder when we’ll reach the point of fearing the police, who are supposed to be our protectors? In Rhode Island they recently fired one cop and suspended another (with pay) for a threesome with a woman in a wooded lot. They were on duty and ignored calls while getting their freak on.
The fired cop whined that he was a “good man” and shouldn’t be fired and continued that he should never have *allowed* the “female” to pleasure him and….herself. Classic.
That was from Fark.com, originally from a Warwick RI paper.

So, I will assume for my own pleasure, that the cop that got fired was the lousy F**k and the one that was suspended managed to tickle the female’s fancy…LOL

btw, a woman in one of our beach communities went up against seaworld to stop them from building a hideous sea wall along the boardwalk. Seaworld spent MILLIONS fighting her. She spent $350 total and lost the cause by only a few percentage points of the votes.
Money isnt everything. She, like you, had heart!
Donna Frye then ran for a position as supervisor, won, and has been great! I guess I’m trying to tell you not to lose heart.
Donna Frye also ran for mayor of San Diego but the ballot process was a mess because she didnt get on the ballot in time and the election instructions were confusing in that people were given conflicting instructions about casting their votes for her (convenient, that). Jerry Sanders, ex-chief of police became mayor.

As to the feet. Try to get shoes easy to slip off discreetly so you can curl and flex your toes. Also, remember that storks stand on one foot in order to rest the other leg! You can slip one foot behind the other ankle and switch off. Finally, if you can, bring a spare pair of shoes. Oddly enough, switching heel heights or shoe fits can help.
