Eric Massa says he was set up for a fall because he voted no on health care reform. Says he won’t go quietly:
Massa lashed out at “the incredible corruption of money in politics today,” accused Hoyer of lying about him, railed against both political parties, and brought out the X-rays from his recent doctor’s visit to prove his statements about a possible cancer diagnosis. “It makes me weep to know that our country is being destroyed from within, with the absolute BS I have to live with for the past five days, the attempted destruction of my family and the slurs. . . . We are a better and bigger country like that.” Finally, Massa warned, “I will not go quietly. . . . I was set up from this from the very beginning.”
He also called Rahm Emmanuel the “devil’s spawn.” Well. This should be interesting. I just LOVE it when they won’t go quietly. Doesn’t happen nearly often enough.

the bigger the loss in 2010 the stronger the pressure will be on obama to resign at the end of his first term. which means…

I was going to post this earlier, now I can since the focus is on Rahm the Ballerina boy…

No one wants a gaunt, shriveled, former ballerina to accost him, naked, in the showers, screaming and yelling, ranting and raving.

There’s quite a list of things the public’s becoming aware of in terms of Rahm Emanuel’s bad behavior”
(1) Sending dead fish to people he doesn’t like
(2) Calling people he’s mad at “f***ing retards”
(3) Screaming naked at men in showers
What will Rahm do next?

Massa: Rahm Emanuel “Would Sell His Own Mother” For Votes
“Rahm Emanuel is son of the devil’s spawn, Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) said. “He is an individual who would sell his mother to get a vote. He would strap his children to the front end of a steam locomotive.”
Rep. Massa describes a confrontation with Emanuel in a shower: “I am showering, naked as a jaybird, and here comes Rahm Emanuel, not even with a towel wrapped around his tush, poking his finger in my chest, yelling at me.”

we have seen and known for many many moons how obama climbed his way up all the way back to his first senate seat in illinois. he made promises then he didnt keep so he could go to the senate floor and do nothing there, then he lied and crapped on people to get to the us senate then sat there and did nothing…now that he is the king…while all he does is talk, go to meeting, and run his mouth…and do more nothing, actually, now that i think about it, the only time in his life he ever showed true conviction was when he came running out and said the cambridge police acted stupidly. really, he was sincere on that one, which required the usual moonwalking days later and freaking beer summit, is this the best we have here in this country, think of all his bullshit…good lord can anyone say, he aint nuthing but a professional bullshitter, i can

Hi PUMAs -
My 2cents for today –
I don’t particularly care for Massa but I believe him – this smacks of the same shit Chicago politics that has been going on for about 80 years now – how god damm dumb are the people who live in Illinois anyways – I mean come on – don’t you read the news, follow the politics in your state or what? Wake up people – vote the bums out – both dems & repubs & get some new people in there even if you pick them from the damm phone book – sure can’t be any worse than what you have now
Didn’t watch the Oscars – don’t watch any award shows anymore – for a country of over 300 million people – the same ones just keep appearing over and over and over again – besides just becuz some of those ’stars’ may play smart people in a movie or show or whatever sure doesn’t mean that they are ’smart’ and frankly, their opinions don’t matter to me – shouldn’t to anyone else either – IMHO…..
I kinda resent the remark from thread below about ‘the white man’s ass’ – I’m not a man but I am white and why is it always the ‘white’ man/woman’s fault – everybody else is innocent????
Cupcakes, cupcakes, cupcakes – throw the thugs out – the sooner the better
Was at the post office this morning & was standing in line – looked around and sure enough – the clock is gone – I didn’t really believe that until I saw for myself…oh well, mostly junk mail anyway……
Turned down job – decided it wouldn’t be worth it right now – instead I will just keep sewing demo projects – purses, totes, etc………..some of them are really fun, cute fabrics – will be teaching sewing classes in April & May – oh boy…………..
bbl – baking date cupcakes right now – easier than baking cake -

Zee 03.08.10 at 2:39 pm
Believe it or not, I spent the morning reading a very interesting post/thread on racism and I followed the link back to the profile of one woman. Bless her heart, she actually had a forum, populated by *not one commenter* wherein she postulates that the European-Americans had no right to come here and take over this land and should all go back to their motherlands. (She was descended from Vikings, as nearly as I could tell.)
I thought I was the only one who ever said that…except that this woman actually believes it. I just say it to provoke the “progressive” Americans who make it their business to rant about the Palestinian plight. If they care so much who Israel “belongs” to, why aren’t they giving their own land back to the native Americans?

Here is where I am
Join me on the bridge
Dear Barbara,
To honor the resilience of millions of women survivors of war around the world, Women for Women International is hosting a global campaign called Join me on the Bridge on International Women’s Day: March 8, 2010. On that day, women around the world will be uniting on bridges to demand an end to war and to demonstrate that women can build the bridges to peace and development for the future. With more than 70 events planned from Rwanda to neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo, from the United States to the United Kingdom, and from San Francisco to Sudan, we will unite in celebration and in strength in the global women’s movement.
Join us on the Brooklyn Bridge on Monday March 8th at noon, rain or shine, to stand in solidarity with the women of Rwanda, DR Congo and around the world as they demand an end to war and demonstrate that women can build the bridges of peace. Register here (you must be registered by Saturday, March 6 at 5pm to receive complimentary lunch).Details:Check in at Cadman Plaza Park in Brooklyn. We’ll start walking across the bridge at 12:15, stop in the middle for a photographer to capture the moment, and then when we reach the other side of the bridge we’ll gather at City Hall Park for lunch and a celebration. At the celebration, hear from distinguished speakers like our Founder and CEO Zainab Salbi and Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland. Add your visions of peace to our peace banner, enjoy music, learn more about Women for Women International and our partners, and add your voice to the thousands around the world who will be gathering on this day and answering this unprecedented call to action.

One can know history, that is how it should be, but to pontificate on it is futile, indeed futile if you have found no better direction and do not go there. Blaming is
not going to get you to the next level. History that repeats itself isnt history, it’s called, MISTAKES.
You should want better things and I truly believe that.
When will we all know that history is the lesson?
Not the cancer that keeps good things from happening.
Im so looking for a positive these days and anytime I get one I hang it on to it for dear life. At least a positive
attitude. I need it like air. That’s what keeps me moving
and going forward. Negatives tend to keep me from breathing
easily and it doesn’t feel really good.
Kathryn Bigelow made me feel positive last night and this morning watching the reruns of it all. She stayed on the upbeat. She was the most authentic of them all. Wow!
She learned history and made a movie and showed the reality
of what is going on. You know my favorite part? The three young actors that played those roles. They were exasperated
with love for their parts. It was quite amazing. Turning a
negative to positive. When she dedicated her win to the troops my heart filled up with appreciation for the first time in a real way. IM gonna watch The Hurt Locker. My son
has already seen it and commented to me, “have you seen Hurt Locker, you should” and i will. If we werent even in a war, they would be learning these techiques and doing it daily no matter what we are doing. That is history. It’s being made daily. That is the beauty she captured. Wow
Zee 03.08.10 at 3:22 pm
How many were on the bridge with you, FL Barbara?
Shadowfax, very simply and eloquently, Hillary explained that women’s rights are human rights and that the majority of uneducated, impoverished and abused are women. That women don’t contribute to violence, but are on the receiving end, and yet are left out of the discussions and negotiations of war and peace. This statement of hers ought to have been aired hourly by all of the news outlets. That is what our national discourse should be.
Zee 03.08.10 at 3:26 pm
sistermoon, my mom mentioned the other day she wanted to see the Hurt Locker. I’m afraid to see it….I don’t do well with violent movies. But I noticed the same thing you did…how the three young actors behind Katherine were simply beside themselves, beaming.

Bad blood between the ballerina and Hillary:
:snip:
Perhaps nothing illustrates how far Mr. Emanuel has come than that conversation last month. Sixteen years ago, it was Mrs. Clinton, then first lady, who helped have Mr. Emanuel demoted as a senior official in Bill Clinton’s White House after he ruffled feathers with his aggressive style. Now all these years later, it is Mr. Emanuel telling Mrs. Clinton what she cannot do as a member of the cabinet.
Emanuel Wields Power Freely, and Faces the Risks
:more snip:
If things do not go well — and right now Mr. Obama’s political popularity is declining, his health care legislation is under conservative assault, the budget deficit is at an eye-popping level and Afghanistan remains volatile — it is Mr. Emanuel whose job will be on the line before Mr. Obama’s.

The ACLU has its roots in communism. The goal is to use America’s laws against itself. And the enemy does not deserve American justice on US soil. These people were caught on the battlefield. I work in NYC and don’t want those bastards anywhere near here. Period.
The ACLU tends to turn a blind-eye to the actions of the far left. So they are for liberties of certain groups, but not all. Obama has been crapping all over the Constitution, and the ACLU has done nothing.

Are Democrats really this clueless or are they still in denial???
——-
Democrats Need a Rally Monkey
“Wake Up and Stand Up.” So urges the bold motto of a seedling movement calling itself the Coffee Party, a leftish alternative to the Tea Party movement.
But it’s going to take more than a jolt of java, which so far amounts to not much more than a wishful exhortation, to energize the left. The buzz and the intensity for some months now have been on the right, led by Tea Partiers as they’ve zealously and methodically marched with plans for what Sarah Palin called “another revolution” come the fall elections.
For Democrats paralyzed by their “party of no” counterparts and dissension in their own ranks — and more recently, pecked by scandal — the currents look much as they did for Republicans in the summer of 2006 or Democrats in the fall of 1994, when a swelling tide swept the other party into power.
What would it take to get back the intensity Democrats had just a year ago?
Some say it can’t be done.
“When a party’s snakebit, it’s really snakebit,” said Charlie Cook, the independent political handicapper, who is predicting a thumpin’ for Democrats in November. “That happened to the Republicans in 2006 and to a certain extent in 2008, and it’s true of Democrats now.”
Others argue that Democrats can get their mojo back only if they understand why it disappeared in the first place.
———
It’s simple Obots, Obama and DNC stole the primary from Hillary and now it’s payback for that and trying to run our country off the cliff.
Corruption, arrogance, stupidly and lies……………… KARMA votes will kick you Jackasses out of office!!!

Hillary is 44 weighs in on the Massa affair
BigCatLover 03.08.10 at 3:56 pm
‘Hornell Mayor Shawn Hogan (D) has taken himself out of the running for Rep. Eric Massa’s (D-N.Y.) congressional seat.
Hogan, who was among the top Democratic names circulating in the wake of Massa’s surprise resignation to resign, issued a statement, on Monday morning cited the “toxic” political environment as a factor in his decision not to run.
“I still have a great desire to serve,” Hogan said. “However the atmosphere in politics today is toxic, fueled by extremism on both sides of the aisle. Americans deserve and want leadership from our elected officials not 30 second sound bites and destructive behavior.”‘
From Puma-SF’s link above. Is it possibly true that someone in politics is finally telling it like it is, even at the possible expense of his career? Even if it turns out that this is not the real reason for his stepping aside, it was great to hear someone speaketh the truth again.
Zee, thanks for the info on awards for Young Queen Victoria. I don’t usually spend my money on movies, but twice a year I take my grandkids to the movies. They’re old enough to pick their own movie and this year, I decided to see YQV instead of Sherlock Holmes which was their pick. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Zee,
The ACLU has its roots in communism. The goal is to use America’s laws against itself.
————–
I’m not sure I know what ‘communism’ means anymore. People seem to use the word to frighten people, as if communism is a deadly virus that will kill people instantaneously unless they are hypervigilant.
I believe their work is to apply US laws neutrally, vs selectively. I think the ACLU helps to keep the US from hypocrisy… if that’s what yuou mean wrt using us laws against itself.
—-
The ACLU tends to turn a blind-eye to the actions of the far left. So they are for liberties of certain groups, but not all.
————–
Like the time they defended the KKK’s right to parade down a street in Skokie, Illinois (I believe that was the town), or do you mean its protection of women and lgbt rights?
It sounds more like youre the one turning a blind eye… but I could be wrong.
I thought the ACLU fought to ensure citizens’ rights are protected and applied regardless of their religious, social, political affiliation.
Bush 1’s distain for teh ACLU motivates me to embrace it even more strongly.

Violent movies disturb me, but there was no gratuitous violence here. It was raw, though, and some scenes are bloody.
Congrats, Katherine Bigelow!

He said: “We saw mainly those who are helpless, like small children and then the older men, who cannot run, these were the ones that were slaughtered.”
A resident of Dogo-Nahawa said that the attackers had fired guns as they entered the village before dawn on Sunday in defiance of a curfew. ”

Site asks public to share dirt on Meg Whitman
Republican candidate for governor Meg Whitman is the target of the new Web site.
The hard work of digging up dirt on a political opponent – more politely known as opposition research – has traditionally been done in the dark recesses of a campaign operation.
But analysts say a labor-union-funded independent campaign aimed at billionaire Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman breaks new ground in how it conducts “oppo research.”
Wikimeg.com invites the rest of the world to shake the bushes for information about Whitman and enables their new research assistants to post the results on the Internet, Wikipedia-style. But this self-described “experiment in community research and information gathering” comes with potential risks in how that information is vetted.
Today’s launch of Wikimeg is the latest illustration of how social media are reshaping political campaigns, analysts say. Someone from Level the Playing Field 2010, the independent group led by Democratic strategists and funded by labor unions and targeting Whitman, will monitor the site.

I sent an email to my Republican Representative with this information. I am SO SICK of hearing about ALL the wonderful things that he is doing, (or should I say . . thinks he is doing!) I concluded my letter to him with the following statement . . .
We are ALL taking pay cuts. Since Congress works for US, shouldn’t Congress take a pay cut too?
Live by example!
___________
How sad . . only 21 Rep. are willing to take a pay cut! I understand Ann Kirkpatrick is giving her 5% back to the government to help bring down the deficit.

Hey, Rancho…. No, I have not heard of this…. Got your email… just check out the education tube on the site ( Re: Meg Whitman)… It does not mention anything about what you were saying…. Will connect with you this week.
hope you are doing well and are healthy and happy….
Rancho 03.08.10 at 10:55 pm
Hi Casper!
Will check the site out. All is well, so to speak. You didn’t answer my question. Where was YOUR
name on that Meg Whitman email
Casper Cat 03.08.10 at 11:01 pm
It was addressed to me…. I told them I will not lock myself in one position… So, I will be all over the place within the Campaign….
I guess kinda of like my life right now…..
I am sure within the next few weeks I will have my official post….
Will keep YOU posted!
Rancho 03.08.10 at 11:04 pm
Found it, Casper . . .
-”Reward success by giving more pay to high-performing teachers”
You CAN’T do that! How do you determine who is a “high-performing teacher”? IT’S TEST SCORES! No one would want the needy, special needs children in their classes. It will impact their pay check.
Teacher’s unions will NOT support her (and there is no money for this anyway!) Someone tell her! Our unions are too strong and will fight her tooth and nail!

great video of Sec Clinton with embassy staff in Costa Rica
Love this video of Hillary, Murph. She looks wonderful and like a real President.

For those Pumas who live in California, you may be interested in viewing this 7 minutes Glen Beck interview with Meg Whitman, who is running for governor of California.

Zee,
You mean the McCarthy that was funded by Joe Kennedy, and had Robert Kennedy as council… that McCarthy?
If you want to play history. I’m game.
Casper Cat 03.08.10 at 11:35 pm
Rancho, you need to email Meg directly you have her addy… address that specific question… I believe what she is saying is we cannot just main stream kids K-and up… And, pass their low performance onto the next teacher… I do not think she is including special needs etc… Because they are already in a different grading score anyway… I know, I have a neice who was in special classes all of her life.. She is now 27 years old…. If you would like I can arrange a direct meeting with her if you would like when she comes to Riverside….
Hope this helps…. But, please email her and ask her your questions and concerns and what is her position on that specific issue….
Just remember, unless WE inform our representative’s or want a be representative’s “What we want and what is important to us” Well, they (men and women) will just push their own agenda…. So, lets change that and make an impact and a difference in California….. I never said I agree with everything Meg represents…. But, casting that aside…. I will not move from my position either… So, let communicate with her and move the first Woman Ever to run for Governor of California to the home plate…..
What do you think….. Hey, BillieJo…. great to see YOU too!
Caveat: I will not change what I believe and feel is right to accomodate a politician…. that is what I mean….
just jumping back and fourth from two computers…

… Fifteen years after the founding of the ACLU, Baldwin wrote:
I am for Socialism, disarmament and ultimately, for the abolishing of the State itself … I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class and sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal.

“As true Patriots we are putting the scourge of modern liberalism on full display. Liberals value the things that we hate: big government, divisiveness, racism, race bating, and victimhood. If it were up to liberals, they’d redistribute wealth and switch to full blown socialism tomorrow. We Patriots must stand up against liberal politicians, media, judges, special interests, and government. Capitalism works while liberalism is a proven failure. Spread the word.”

I guess only rightwing nutters are qualified to be patriots?
pssst… the opposite of “liberal” is ‘conservative”.

((((Rancho))) We need to do lunch very soon…. You pick…
Please remember, I am NOT defending Meg Whitman… I am just trying to choose the best person for California… Well, I really think her business plan to bring California back to where it needs to be is the best…. Remember, that saying? ‘If California sneezes, the rest of the states get a cold’?
I have lived here all of my life and will continue to do so…. So, we will have to see… I will do my part and that is all I can do…

Did you know Helen Keller was part of the founding of the ACLU? Great read on wiki about ACLU
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Civil_Liberties_Union
Years ago I used to volunteer answering phones for them. My job was to determine if the individual calling had a constitutional rights issue and if they did not I would give them other numbers where they could perhaps get assistance. Almost every call was not relevant(My neighbor’s dog barks all night. When I’d suggest that they call the police. They would become irate and scream that they had rights and were being violated. I would again explain what the ACLU does and reiterate the earlier suggestion to which the response was usually F you communist)
I often disagree with the stances the ACLU takes, but I am grateful they exist. And I was given extensive information to relay to people with issues outside of the ACLU purview. People in jeopardy for varied reasons were never just told they’d called the wrong place.
Anywho– off to bed.

henry,
#78 – Thank you for posting that link.
Isn’t it funny how the boogy man in the closet ie ACLU often turns out to just be shadows.
I learn a lot from everyones contributions to the blog.

#70 – Quote from henry’s link…
“In 1940, the ACLU formally barred communists from leadership or staff positions, and would take the position that it did not want communists as members either. The board declared that it was “inappropriate for any person to serve on the governing committees of the Union or its staff, who is a member of any political organization which supports totalitarianism in any country, or who by his public declarations indicates his support of such a principle.” The purge, which was led by Baldwin, himself a former supporter of communism, began with the ouster of Elizabeth Gurley Flynn, a member of both the Communist Party USA and the Industrial Workers of the World.”

I guess since it’s still International Women’s Day on the west coast for another hour or so, it’s not too late to post this link, from She Writes. It’s a post calling for recommendations of books written by women from around the world:

it’s very easy to become sickened when you hear on the news that they are supporting NAMBLA, Limbaugh or Nazi’s and difficult, at least for me, to recognize that they are not defending these groups per se but are simply addressing the constitutionality of laws. I feel they provide a needed check to the government.
Zee 03.09.10 at 1:43 am
Night, goofs! Thanks for the link, above. And even tho She Writes is a community for women writers, they often have threads on book recommendation, for any reading-passionate PUMAs.

Night Zee, I really have to log off now. Sleep well everyone!
Zee 03.09.10 at 1:48 am
henry, I don’t know the outcome, but I remember when the ACLU got involved with a poet/teacher who was fired for the material he was teaching the kids. Actually, it was the material the kids were writing as a result. It had something to do with antiwar sentiment. I think the teacher had no recourse because it was a charter school, not a public school.
Anyway, we do have the right to quiet enjoyment of our homes, don’t we? I would love to sic the ACLU on my neighbor with the truck sans muffler…..

Zee,
Don’t kill the messenger because you don’t like the message. The ACLU is not for everyone’s rights. The healthcare bill as written is unconstitutional. Do you here anything from them?

You have a consistent bad habit of not providing links… even when requested to do so. The last time we asked for a link you told us to google for the information. In like kind, if you are looking for your original ACLU comment, google it.

do you have any other pictures???
Silence Dogood 03.09.10 at 3:35 pm
DWP:
The ACLU is a far far left organization. It remains so today. The current health bill is unconstitutional. Nothing but crickets from the ACLU.
