Uppity Woman is following this story of the judge in Florida who refused a woman’s request for a restraining order against a stalker who subsequently shot her to death at work. Allissa Blanton was 23 years old, and she died in her husband’s arms. That’s my god damned Valentine for you.
Oh, and there’s this too. I think I found it at Uppity’s as well, but it may have been Simo. The original Super Bowl ad which, thankfully, I missed. And then the woman’s response.
Here’s one Woman’s Response. There are several now flying around You Tube.

wishes for sons
by Lucille Clifton
i wish them cramps.
i wish them a strange town
and the last tampon.
I wish them no 7-11.
i wish them one week early
and wearing a white skirt.
i wish them one week late.
later i wish them hot flashes
and clots like you
wouldn’t believe. let the
flashes come when they
meet someone special.
let the clots come
when they want to.
let them think they have accepted
arrogance in the universe,
then bring them to gynecologists
not unlike themselves.

Just wanted to say how special this Valentines Day is to me. Nine days ago my hubby had a heart attack, and while being transferred from one hospital to another, they did not think he would make the trip. Last Mon he had an 11 hr triple bypass surgery. Yesterday I brought him home and we are able to celebrate another Valentines Day together. He is doing great, which is the best Valentines present I could every ask for.

That is wonderful. You have another day to love each other. Enjoy every minute.
My guy has no idea it is Valentine’s Day….he just went back to bed with grape juice down the front of his sweatshirt, dribble on his chin and he has not eaten in 4 days. He is no longer here, he is not him. My grief grows bigger every day.

love is great. it’s what we’re “supposed” to do for love that we should be skeptical of. Not love itself, but the entailments of love.

California
Public Policy Institute of California, Jan. 12-19
2008 election: Obama 61 percent, McCain 37 percent
PPIC says 61 percent approve of the job Obama is doing while 34 percent disapprove, with 5 percent undecided. Fifty-six percent believe that Obama and the Congress will be able to work together and accomplish a lot in the next year while 38 percent do not, with 6 percent undecided. About two-third of Democrats believe that compared to a third of Republicans.
Also . . .
FALL MATCHUPS: BROWN HAS SMALL EDGE—BOXER, CAMPBELL IN CLOSE RACE
In a hypothetical matchup for the November election, unofficial Democratic candidate Jerry Brown retains
a narrow lead over Whitman (41% to 36%) among likely voters, with 23 percent undecided. Support
for the candidates runs along party lines: 69 percent of Democrats favor Brown and 73 percent of
Republicans favor Whitman. Independents favor Brown over Whitman, 36 percent to 28 percent, with
36 percent undecided. Brown, the current attorney general and former governor, had a 6-point lead
over Whitman in December. His 15-point lead over Poizner (44% to 29%) is also similar to December’s
(47% to 31%).

No, I am suggesting there’s a lot of concentration, on the negative 10% of the world’s wrongful deeds and not enough of the positive encounters, assistance, and overall good people do for each other. And that is the reality also!

This is the time in both you and Scouts lifes where Love really does have everything to do with it.
Today, because of grief love is found in that place in the heart where tears are born.
But I do know one day it will live in that place in the heart not where tears are born from grief but where love is born from the joy of the memory of loving and being loved….deeply.
My prayers for you both.

Granted but where in the world did you come up with that 10% statistic?
If the planet is 100% patriarchal is your 10% just the extreme percentage of the negative whole?

I am finally back after leaving cold, wintery

**********************************
The 10% is from my own personal point of view of life; with 10% of the population being extremely evil and 10% being extremely honorable while the 80% balance, of humans runs along the integer from a range of bad and good.
This includes women and well as men, cosidering we as women of all ages, represent 50% of the population.

My valentine PUMAs
Comes the Dawn
After a while you learn the difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul..and you learn that kisses aren’t contracts, and presents are promises.
And you begin to accept with your head up and your eyes open, with the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child…and you learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain, and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much…so you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn you really can endure….that you really are a strong woman, and you really do have worth, value.
And you learn and learn, with every “goodbye” you learn.

Dalai Lama urges Tibetans not to celebrate New Year
DHARAMSALA, India (Reuters) – The Dalai Lama urged Tibetans on Sunday not to celebrate Losar, the Tibetan New Year, just days before his planned meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama which has infuriated China.
The exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, who greeted thousands of Tibetans in the main Buddhist temple in the north Indian town of Dharamsala at the start of what would otherwise be a two-week Losar celebration, said the gesture was to honor those in Tibet.
“We have heard some voices inside Tibet that they will not celebrate Losar. We should respect and abide by that call,” the Dalai Lama said, speaking in Tibetan.
snip
This is the second successive year that Tibetans in Dharamsala, the Dalai Lama’s headquarters, will not celebrate Losar, which is usually marked with traditional song and dance.
Last year, Tibetans in exile had unanimously called off New Year celebrations in the aftermath of China’s crackdown after the March 2008 uprisings in Tibet.
