BELLVILLE — A family dispute pushed Maron Thomas to go on a rampage marked by a fury so intense that he decapitated his 2-year-old niece with a machete after killing her and four other family members, Austin County investigators said Wednesday.

Killed were Thomas’ biological mother, Debra Phearse Washington, 54; stepfather, George T. Contrary to prior reports, Kiana Phearse was not pregnant, Austin County Sheriff’s Sgt. Paul Faircloth said.

Thomas’ sister, Ka’Tara Price, 24, of Houston, said she believes anger and Thomas’ conversion to the Muslim religion influenced his actions. She said she is not aware of him suffering from any mental illness.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger floated a different approach to trimming down California’s bloated prison budget on Monday: pay Mexico to build new prisons and ship off California’s incarcerated illegal immigrants south of the border.

The Republican governor has pushed to house California inmates out-of-state before — but never in a different country.

“We can do so much better in the prison system alone if we can go and take inmates, for instance the 20,000 inmates that are illegal immigrants that are here, and get them to Mexico,” Schwarzenegger said during a question-and answer session at the Sacramento Press Club. “Think about it.”

It’s cheaper to build prisons in Mexico, Schwarzenegger reasoned, and it’s cheaper to staff them there to boot.

“We pay them to build the prison down in Mexico,” the governor said. “…Half the costs to build the prisons and half the costs to run the prisons. That is money — $1 billion right there —

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Women had better appear attractive as well as competent if they want to be elected to political office, according to research published on Thursday.

The reason may be the same as people preferring attractive mates — good looks tend to signal overall biological fitness, said psychologist Joan Chiao of Northwestern University in Illinois.

“People have found that aspects of the face predict, for example, whether or not somebody is at height of their estrus cycle” and thus fertile, Chiao said in a telephone interview. “Aspects of male faces seem to predict levels of testosterone.”

In other words, humans find certain features attractive not because there is some “true” measure of beauty but because they signal success.

The study relied on 73 college students but the researchers said the findings fit in not only with conventional wisdom but with other research.

“All voters perceived male politicians as significantly more competent compared to female politicians,” Chiao and colleagues wrote in their report, published in the Public Library of Science journal PLoS ONE.

I just had a short conversation with someone I really like that was for Hillary and tossed her vote to the Fraud.

I check in every now and then to see if she has sworn off the koolaid yet, and I asked her seriously if there is ANYTHING that the President has done, besides allowing stem cell research to begin…cancelling the Bush ban…

She kept saying that she still likes him and he is trying to get things done, like health care……….I mentioned there is no public option in the bill, she stammered……….
thought for a moment, “I like the garden Michelle put in.” – then I told her about the sludge from the Clinton years.

Our conversation ended………she is pretty frustrated and really has nothing to hang her hope on.
