Maisie votes for Martha early this morning:
I sure hope Boston Boomer decides to vote for Martha — I know she doesn’t like the White House and Dem leaders trashing Coakley. There ’s also news this morning about how the Dem leadership can work around a Brown win and pass the health care bill without him. Which would make Mass voters who pulled the lever for Brown in order to kill health care look like suckers. Which they are SURE to remember in November. Pyrrhic Victories everywhere I look.
Not to be outdone by her older cousin, Skipper did her part for women in politics this morning:

OT but I found this story by Uppity about the countries and orgs that have donated the most to haiti (US at the top of the list) very interesting. The islamic countries are NOWHERE, which is not all that surprising since Islam sucks, but Asia is underrepresented as well.
and where the merde is FRANCE!?!?

as bad as W:
“President Obama has not held a full news conference at the White House since July 22, the night he said that the Cambridge Police “acted stupidly” in the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates.
Since then, the president has delivered dozens of speeches and taken a few questions from reporters while with world leaders on foreign trips. But, lately, it is rare for him to take questions from the media at events or meetings at the White House.
Obama had five news conferences at the White House last year, one more than President George W. Bush had in his first year in office.”

tell me how you manage not to be angry when this sort of campaigning and trashing of the female happens? I would love to know how to avoid expletives and rage.
I look at the countless articles on child rape and become so angry – not just because it happens and there are victims who will struggle to survive and heal, but also because it is permissible to so many men and woven into the fabric of our male-centered culture. Polanski admitted to raping a 13 year old and movie industry bigwigs defend him. Diseased men rape virgins sold to them because a bunch of superstitious idiots think sex with a virgin will cure the disease. Men in South Africa congregate in gangs and systematically rape to impregnate and to “cure” lesbians. “Gurus” develop rules to control a harem of women and brainwash them into thinking they have a healthy collective. Traffickers promise to return money if the girl sold does not bleed. Rape is used in war to punish perceived rebels and break the spirit of the people. Rape leads women living under Sharia law to be stoned, beheaded, forced into suicide, or, if they are lucky, shunned.
Mama Puma, you must have the answer? I suppose I should stop working so hard and meditate more. Wish I had time but I have too many chores to do and too many books to read.
Coakley has been destroyed in the press over the last three weeks. Article after article, hit after hit, all focused on child rapist and her alleged failures. I could not find any article criticizing her or the grand jury process concerning the child rapist until December 2009. Interesting, huh?
I still think Brown heard the comment and laughed it off. Murphy, I think you provided the links in yesterday’s thread showing the comparison with Obama’s “brush the bitch off” and similar references and connections.
The lack of respect for women as candidates for office is stunning. Texas Tigress, when are you running for office?
Murphy, tell Skipper I said way to go!
Have a great day, Pumas.

I saw a report in the early days after the earthquake where France sent a planeload of emergency medical personnel who set up a field hospital and were treating 500 victims a day. So they were quick to respond with help but maybe not alot of donations.

Egyptian temple honoring the cat goddess uncovered in Alexandria:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100119/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_egypt_alexandria_temple
CAIRO – Archaeologists have unearthed a 2,000-year-old temple that may have been dedicated to the ancient Egyptian cat goddess, Bastet, the Supreme Council of Antiquities said Tuesday.
The ruins of the Ptolemaic-era temple were discovered by Egyptian archaeologists in the heart of the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria, founded by Alexander the Great in the 4th century B.C.
The city was the seat of the Greek-speaking Ptolemaic Dynasty, which ruled over Egypt for 300 years until the suicide of Queen Cleopatra.
The statement said the temple was thought to belong to Queen Berenice, wife of King Ptolemy III who ruled Egypt in the 3rd century B.C.

This is a quick post..my scout is in the hospital. Had to call 911 in the wee hours of the rotten snow storm , he was in sever pain.
Had fire rescue team and ambulance show up and bless my Goddess wherever they are my neighbor was driving the ambulance. A awesome young man who grew up with my kids, he was super, he shoveled my steps and was so gentle and caring,
calmed he and said if I was really good and did not fall in the snow he would run all the lights, seines and horns! Joker!
So I am off to vote and then to the hospital. I am overwhelmed by how fast my scout is failing…..
But I do know dear Pumas my vote for the independent WILL help Martha…it is my way of not giving the dems a vote and really if he gets 4 to 5% that will get her in! I still have to get there…..snowing again.

dragonfly,
I’m furious at the trashing of Coakley, who behaved like a loyal PUMA and will be an ally of PUMAs and of Hillary if she gets elected (vs pig Brown).
But I spend most of my energy doing more research and making more posts at more different blogs, rather than putting dirty words into the posts. (Unless someone thinks pigs are dirty, hm….)

Go Sister PUMA. Go PUMAs for sisters.
Massachussets has NEVER elected a woman as a senator or governor. We got to change that today. Obama will be out in three and Martha will be here for longer. Martha was with Hilary all the way till he end with her delegate vote. Health care will continue one way or another – repealed or further worked on just like Medicare and Medicaid.
With 12/100 women in the senate I will rather not give up 1 more female senate seat. With the over 50% catholic vvoters in MA it might be harder than other North East state but still this is an opportunity to not pass up. Because of a single health care vote in the next two weeks we could be stuck with disagreeable votes on women issues, human rights issues on freedom to marry, more troops for more wars (where Martha is on the right side) and MINUS one more woman for six years. Besides I dont believe a woman who has posed nude in her twenties would be given any pass seeing what Hilary and Sarah went through.

Right! Didn’t we go through this in Nov 2008? A vote for McPalin would hurt Obama more, but a vote for the Independents would hurt him some, so it’s all good. Voting for the independent in MA is a more clear message than voting for Brown, certainly.
KerryLINY 01.19.10 at 10:41 am
Kill the double standard in politics. Let’s put one more woman in there today towards the 50%. Martha is down in the polls. We’ll show them New Hampshire 2008 again where the women slowly trickled in until the day’s end and embarrassed the polls.

My reasons for MArtha:
Martha blew off an Obama fundraiser dinner in Aug 2008 even after Hilary with the lame excuse that the $1000 fee was too high. She marched all the way to Denver and even after all the deals cast her vote with Hilary where her heart was and whom she supported till the end.
She spoke courageously against Obama surge in Bush-Obama Afganistan same policies.
She’s always been on the perfect side of women’s and gay rights issues and told off those catholics who would invoke religion in emergency room with their conscience clause and told them to stuff it.
That PUMAS have not fought even harder for Martha is almost an incompetence of vision. We sometimes get too cone eyed with trying to compute the best hurt for three more years Obama and some of his democratic cronies in congress and senate and some are about to take it out on our own. They’ll just go around Brown while we suffer the votes of Brown. So what Brown allowed Obama campaign for her – should we conflate the two of them? Hilary works for the Country with Obama admin, can we confuse the two of them? A senate seat is for 6 years and more than about 1 vote or 1 lousy pretederdent!

==================
Ok still not a reason to choose the seat based on Obama since Martha was never for him. In two, she will likely be relected after the term. If Brown goes in that would probably be 8 since Dems are going to be in a bad spot for the next 3 while BO is there and even longer to cleanse away his effect on the party.

Some ‘kinda’ good news from Ohio for women in politics. This is not nearly enough or perfect but it’s a sign of the times, I hope. Both candidates for governor (male) announced this weekend that their running mates for leut. governor will be women. I will put the details on the Women 2010 page after I get the details. One woman is the current state auditor (Mary Taylor) and local pundits are surprised that the party would give up a seat they currently occupy that is not up for re-election this year. The other woman is someone I’m not familiar with so I have to do my homework about her.
And for those who have followed the drama about Jennifer Brunner (current SOS) who is running for Senate from Ohio and has not gotten the backing of her dem party because her polling is not good, she is staying in the race and will continue her campaign despite pressure from her party to take a judgeship in the Ohio Supreme Court instead.

Received an e-mail from Obamagrunt asking me to make calls to Mass. to support Coakley. His last line in the e-mail said be as fired up as you were the last election. Here’s my response:
I was fired up last election, no doubt! I was a Hillary supporter! The atrocities I saw my own Party committing during the primaries, made me realized that the Democratic Party does not represent me anymore, so you might want to take me off your list.
Coakley, should win Ted’s seat. Not that she had your support in the beginning, you wanted the other guy didn’t you? Now, that she can turn the majority vote to you, well, now she’s important right? I hope she wins, not for your majority sake, but so , maybe she can wake up and give all of you the finger and vote her conscience against this HealthCare sham.

I really believe that it is not Martha women have abandoned, it is as it has been since May 31,2008 the Democratic party abandoned women.
The Democratic party didn’t even endorse Martha as their Democratic party nominee. I would have a lot more respect for them if they did endorse Martha for a historic election in MA.
Martha is yet another woman being used by the party that in May of 2008 sent women a very loud message WE don’t value you as leaders we will however drag you out from under the bus when we need the womans vote.

I also heart adrienne in ca, from TRL,
“Adrienne in CA says:
Every time the 30% Solution is discussed, we get into these discussions about whether or not we can bear to apply that logic to conservative women.
Supporting any woman doesn’t require you to support every woman.
How are the male conservatives getting elected? Liberals aren’t crossing party lines and checking their principles at the door to elect them. Conservatives have their own constituencies in their own districts to do that. So would conservative women.
Here’s the challenge I’ve set for myself:
Absent major violation of my core values, vote for the woman.
I mean major: deeds not words, proven not alleged, trend not outlier. None of this requiring women be perfect while men can be whatever.
Simple, really. I am an affirmative actor for women.
If this formula doesn’t work for you, create your own. Try it for awhile and see how it goes. If you feel you alsolutely must bend your rule in a specific instance, do it. No one will know.
Whatever you do, do something that injects a bias for women. Encourage everyone you know, liberals and conservatives, to do the same. However much that impacts women’s electoral chances is bound to be better than now, which is pretty consistently biased against.

just got back from touring the Denver Mint and getting ready to head over to the rodeo — had to check out my morning read and comment on this one line.
“Which would make Mass voters who pulled the lever for Brown in order to kill health care look like suckers. ”
First time I disagreed with you Murphy on a post —- If you vote for a GOP or DEM candidate you’re already a sucker. This is a suckers game. We have a 2 party system that is a “club” with the ultimate power — to do what they want. There are power struggles daily and we’re all just the pawns. The lower on the scale you are as a politician the less power you have. We think we have the power of our vote — ha, ha, ha. 18 Million people voted for Hillary and what did that get her?
If Brown wins and the DEMS do what they want with the Health Care bill — then democracy in America is DEAD. It’s on life support now.
The women of the Senate sold women’s rights out — I don’t get this whole 30% women in Congress/Senate when we can’t even get the women (what percentage currently in the Senate) we have now to support us. WTF ??
admin 01.19.10 at 12:31 pm
we have less than 17% women in congress Simo, that’s EXACTLY WHY we cant get them to support us — there aren’t enough of them!
admin 01.19.10 at 12:39 pm
The women of the senate (and House) voted AGAINST Stupak and all the other crappy anti-woman amendments (including Nancy Pelosi — she voted AGAINST it). The women in the Senate didnt sell us out — they did all they can.
Here’s the roll call — Every single dem woman stood together against Stupak.

They cannot do it if we dont vote for them.

Murphy — If we can’t get 17% to support us – how are we gonna get 30%? Those 17% could band together for women if they wanted to — they choose not to … they are like sheep — right behind the “anointed one” — “Mr. Selected NOT Elected”
Sorry – can’t buy into the theory. I have always found the larger the group the harder it is to persuade.

Totally off subject, but Rachel Alexandra was voted “Horse of the Year”! Girl power!!!
*************************************
Oh oh this blog is taking over my real life. I’ve been waiting for this vote on Horse of the Year for months and knew it was yesterday, but completely forgot with all the Mass election debating going on. This horse of the year vote was so exciting because two female horses were the only truly likely horses to win. Both of these horses were phenomenal this year. Congratulations Rachel Alexander, but Zenyatta you gave me more thrills than I could imagine.
http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/national-news/2010/January/18/Horse-of-the-Year.aspx
“Together Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta won nine Grade I races,” he said. “Together they conquered four of the best groups of males that were running last year. If you think about their achievements individually or collectively, there has never been another year like this for fillies. I want to thank Jerry and Ann for being so gracious all through the year, and we supported each other. You wouldn’t know that but occasionally we talked and we sent congratulations to each other, and I really appreciated the grace and charm and ability of the Zenyatta team, and particularly Jerry and Ann Moss. It couldn’t be arranged that they would meet last year. We’re hoping that each horse, taking its course, may win their way to an ultimate match, and maybe we can work toward that.”
Okay, carry on with the Mass election debate.
antifish 01.19.10 at 1:05 pm

I will be pleased either way and honestly, I prefer Brown’s stance on health care. His response to the curling iron comment was very disconcerting and reminded me of what I despise about some men.

Thanks for sharing Adrienne’s post on the formula for injecting a reasonable bias for women in #45 and the info in #50 that all 17% of the women representatives stood against the Stupak amendment! Just imagine, even if we *double* the number of women in DC representing us we still won’t have parity.
I wish the weather were better here in MA today…

Authors of the book Game Change were on today’s Washington Journal this morning. In my opinion John Heilemann shows his anti Clinton bias, and I think he may be behind the anti Clinton pseudo facts/quotes in the book. All the unnamed sources make this a piece of gossip and certainly not journalism, IMO. Watch the video and decide for yourself.

thank you for your answers about how best to respond to the rage that builds in response to the misogyny in politics and the general disregard by the Obama administration of what the people in this country want.
I am sorry if any of my rage discouraged anyone from commenting or contributing – others have cursed in comments and in the wee hours of the night cursing seems more honest than not. Because the research I am doing for the group is focused on violence against women, I’m afraid focusing on research is fueling my rage rather than tempering my response.
At any rate, to all who were put off by my comments, my apologies. Unfortunately, I have been burning the candle at both ends lately. Combine that with having no other place to express what comes over me when I update the Woman Lynching forum along with what looks like a classic example of the double bind on woman politicians, and you get a snarling (but always loyal) PUMA.
I hope everyone here knows (and that means y’all too, Silence and J) that I respect each person’s right to vote their conscience, and certainly voting Brown is a message to Obama that he needs to hear. If I knew Mama Puma, she might be able to convince me to go for another candidate, but based on what I know and where I think we are headed, I would probably be pulling the lever for Coakley if I were a voter in Mass.
In future, I’ll take a few extra deep breaths before hitting the “submit” button, and sleep more!
I hope all PUMAs vote their conscience and are not shy about letting us know how things go today at the voting booths.

From what I’ve read so far, I think Patti Solis Doyle is behind the anti-Clinton pseudo facts. I don’t think the book paints Hillary in any worse light than it does Obama and certainly not John and Elizabeth Edwards. They are skewered in it.
So far in the book, Hillary comes off as a very dedicated, hard-working, knowledgeable candidate who was surrounded by incompetent actors. It states that at one point, she told her campaign staff that she felt like a general charging up a hill with sword drawn and no troops behind her.
Silence Dogood 01.19.10 at 1:45 pm

Hell, I agree with the Clintons, caucus fraud did happen in Iowa. I’ve heard proof from Iowans who stated they had caucused for years with the same folks, but suddenly people showed up to caucus that they had never seen or heard of. This was in small communities where everyone knew everyone.

I should’ve known. I watched the entire clip, thinking it was kind of funny, till that disgusting end. How nice. Poking fun at being black by treating women like subhuman commodities. Jon Stewart Show deserves a prowl on that one.
Well. Despite his needing a backlash on that, I thought all PUMAs would enjoy the richly deserved spanking Stewart gives the Dems on this clip:
http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-january-18-2010/mass-backwards
If you don’t have the time to watch it, the money quote is “…the Republicans are playing chess while once again the Democrats are in the nurses office, having once again glued their balls to their thighs….”
Adolescent humor. I guess there occasionally is a time and place for it….
Silence Dogood 01.19.10 at 2:05 pm
BCL,
I highly recommend the Tip O’Neil book. Its probably about 20+ years old and certainly in the library.
antifish 01.19.10 at 2:07 pm
Oh and one more interesting thing I’ve read in the book…
Remember how Obama stated he had never heard Rev Wright make any comments like the ones that were shown on the news?
Well, according to the book, Rev Wright was slated to give the invocation at Obama’s announcement of his candidacy in Springfield, but ended up being kept in the basement because Obama had just read some incendiary anti-American comments that Wright had made in an interview with “Rolling Stone”.
So he told the entire nation a blatant lie. Big surprise there.
BigCatLover 01.19.10 at 2:10 pm

That incident and others were written about during the campaign but ignored by the media so it wasn’t widely published. Just another thing Pumas were trying to get out there but the Obama supporters where squelching.

Agreed, antifish and Zee. The Jon Stewart piece is insulting and demeaning on several levels. I did like the actor’s mock surprise and when Brazile said the luncheon was to support Reid. I hope Brazile on the inside was not thrilled with having to lead this “it’s okay that you are a racist, Harry” bit. I saw the sign behind her, “Give em Hell, Harry.” What has Harry done exactly to address racism in the US?
I stopped watching the Daily Show during the 2008 primary because they disappointed me then too. I do like some of their comedy bits, but time and again Jon gave Obama a pass when he would have nailed W, and I’m probably blanking out on something he did that insulted Hillary.
okay, got to go now.
antifish 01.19.10 at 2:13 pm
BCL, I didn’t know that. I had heard that Wright was kept in the basement, but thought it was because he had travelled with Louis Fararakhan to meet with Ghaddafi.

sistermoon3 01.19.10 at 2:35 pm
I dont think Obama just picks on women or allows others to, he downgrades other men all the time, he mocks, makes fun of anyone who doesnt see him as the enlightened one.
I thought his making fun of the Brown’s truck ad was disgusting.
He not only said, “forget the truck, anyone can buy a truck”
wow, really mr. prez, i know a lot of people who cant buy a truck. Maybe he was talking about shark car dealerships that charge 25% interest rates.
Tell you the truth, i just want a fair race in Mass today, i hope there are no fraud voters, hope there are not any trouble and that either way it is clear cut who the winner is. Hoping that is not asking too much, because quite frankly, ever since he got in, i dont trust much.

And Dragonfly, Jon Stewart was an *early* skewer of Zerobama. He’s been making jokes about the fraud from almost day one of his presidency. He’s made several jokes about how like Bush he is. One of the funniest one was how Bush left his teleprompter behind (and presumably that was why Zerobama was reading verbatim from the Bush script)…but my fave was when he compared Bush’s talking points on the war on terror with those of the Trojan Ass, and they were identical, but, Stewart quipped, “Obama makes the kids like it!” (the war on terror) Hilarious.

There has been a big importation of ground help for Brown, which may match the ground work already in place for Dems here, but if the Dems crank it out, there is a chance Martha will pull this one out.
Sistermoon, standing up for gay rights and women’s rights are two of Martha’s top priorities. She’s a proven and a long-standing champion on this and that is far from “Obama’s agenda.” The last thing I give a crap about is who Ted Kennedy would be “most unhappy with.” Sheesh. We’re *alive* here and we need someone to represent US, and I know for me that means a Hillary-supporting PUMA at heart who puts women’s issues first, not the naked cowboy who smirks at rape jokes and won’t be able to prevent the Fraud’s HC fiasco. That is just a MSM talking point because they have to make up some storyline and stick with it. They’re gonna shove thru some disastrous bill with or without Martha, whom we can at least petition to watchguard women’s rights.
Uppity Woman 01.19.10 at 3:15 pm

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 28% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-nine percent (39%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -11 (see trends).

Just 38% of voters nationwide now support the health care plan working its way through Congress. That matches the lowest level of support yet measured.

Yes, sistermoon, by all means, lets stop all the workers at the airport and clear them by the Secret Service. Let’s stop all flights in and out to clear the airspace over Haiti for hours so Air Force One can land. Let’s have Obama give a speech at the airport, or better yet, pull in some soldiers that are out dispensing food and water so they can provide security for him while he tours around Port Au Prince. Then the Haitians can all spread by word of mouth how wonderful he is for dropping by. Really?

Yeah, i guess you are alright, Secretary of State was enough.
sistermoon3 01.19.10 at 4:59 pm
well, and Bill was good too.
antifish 01.19.10 at 5:00 pm
Yes, Murphy, I was very pleased that Hillary was sent to be the face of our government.
sistermoon3 01.19.10 at 5:01 pm
Yes, Obama was correct in not going.
BigCatLover 01.19.10 at 5:02 pm
Ed Schultz said if he lived in Mass he’s try to vote 10 times. Yes, that’s right I’d cheat; I’d do anything to keep those bast*rds out. CNN reporting this. When questioned about the remark, he apologized by saying ‘I’m sorry, I meant to say I’d try to cheat 20 times’. That’s how much I want to keep Scott Brown out.
Obama supporters not changing their stripes.
antifish 01.19.10 at 5:07 pm
BCL, wonder how many times Ed voted for Obama. What a pig!

antifish,
Re: Tornado’s in CA… Just heard that the way LA and Orange County coastal areas are shaped, we are one of the only areas geographically capable of having tornado’s outside the midwest of US.
_______
Sorry for the late response goofs. Wow, didn’t know that. We quite a lot of tornadoes here in the South as well. A small one even came through my neighborhood two years ago and wreaked some havoc.
antifish 01.19.10 at 5:17 pm

Rancho,
Please check in when you get to computer again. Thunder cell has passed so came back online and just saw your question.
Shadowfax,
Nope, no special lingo… Rancho teaches, so means she has already dismissed her students.
Antifish,
Strong storm, but luckily fast moving. Tornado warnings have expired.
Casper Cat, Dances and all CA Pumas – Hope all of you are safe.

Heh, sorry I must have missed the background to the comment. I thought it was something fancy down there for saying, “I gotta get the heck outta Dodge, pronto!”
Glad you PUMAs are safe now.
We had tons of rain this morning, sun for about 2 nanoseconds and now the clouds are joining forces again.
We do need the rain though.

We are on pins and needles here waiting for the results in MA.
Who wins, the centerfold with a truck or the PUMA?

Democrat Martha Coakley: An Object Lesson In Complacency And Detachment
First Posted: 01-19-10 02:39 PM | Updated: 01-19-10 03:39 PM
Ah, Martha Coakley. She truly is a wonder, isn’t she? I’ll be stunned if she pulls out this special election tonight, based upon my simple rule that candidates who make the most structural campaign mistakes tend to lose elections.

Shadowfax,
#164 – yep, CA needs the rain. We are just not set up to handle so much in a short period of time.
TT and antifish,
RE: #162 & 163. Isn’t it unusual to not have exit polling? Do you think that it’s being handled this way so that both sides are guess or to not encourage those last minute voters?
Shadowfax 01.19.10 at 5:49 pm
Interesting short read, even if it comes from a Repub website:

antifish,
MSM and fellow Dems have been trashing the way Coakley has run her campaign for a few days. You know, like they did with Hillary.
Zee 01.19.10 at 5:52 pm
Oh, really, Delle? And the word I’ve heard is that there are several independent reports of voters being handed premarked ballot for Scott Brown.
Let’s let the local poll workers sort this out, shall we?
Zee 01.19.10 at 5:56 pm
Oh, and btw….please, bother to vote!
Interestingly, yesterday I received 4 calls….2 robo, 2 live, 1 each from each camp. Today I received 2 robocalls, one from each camp. PLUS I received one which merely stated how the HC issues would fall out and for *everyone* to get out and vote. I couldn’t sess out who had commissioned that call!
But I’d have to say the two camps are grinding out equal work. When I voted, I had to stand in line, a first. Short line, but the poll worker said it was high turn out for our precinct.
If all the precincts were run like ours, no one need fear. Very even-handed local control.

Agreed! I’m so sick of the Martha trashing, especially the “she’s a weak candidate.” Yeah, sooooooooo weak she beat the pants off three other well-connected, well-financed men.
It took a LOT of media horseshit to bolster the nekkid truck driver and bash the woman who could not care less about blowhard baseball “heros.”
Shadowfax 01.19.10 at 6:00 pm
Trying to cover their ass:
In Washington, senior White House adviser David Axelrod said the White House expects Coakley to win. Axelrod said Obama, who campaigned with Coakley Sunday in Boston and cut a last-minute ad, did everything he could to help.
“I think the White House did everything we were asked to do,” Axelrod told reporters. “Had we been asked earlier, we would have responded earlier. But we responded in a timely fashion when we were asked.”

Zee 01.19.10 at 6:03 pm
Dragonfly, Jon Stewart’s been good. And way out in front on poking fun at Obama. I forgot another one…during the *primaries* he made a joke about Zerobama. I can’t even remember the joke. But his audience fell into a confused silence, shocked that the Lightbringer was subject to jokes and then Stewart said, “It’s ok. You can laugh.” I was lmao.
But I don’t usually tune in on TV. I just only open recommended segments online…and then the one disappointing one Dances posted. I really think we should let him know that a woman’s naked butt in a guy’s face is not the kind of humor he should host.
goofsmom 01.19.10 at 6:05 pm
shadowfax,
#174 – Oh, I see… its Coakley’s fault for not asking sooner. Sheesh…
Here’s another cynical thought… Maybe they want Coakley to lose, to re-energize the Dem base with fears of the mid-term elections going to the GOP? Twisted logic.
Zee 01.19.10 at 6:07 pm
Shadowfax, good catch. As if. He had to be begged in, huh?
You know what it reminds me of? Remember when Hillary appeared on one of those Comedy Central Shows…can’t remember if it was Jon Stewart or the Colbert Show. During the primaries.
Zero had already turned down the invite. But when Hillary was slated to appear, the jerk horned in on her appearance!!! Remember that??
Well, Bill Clinton came to stump for Martha. I think the fraud couldn’t bear it if the Big Dog energized the voters, so he had to upstage him. Last minute, so he could blame Martha’s camp if he was “called” in “too late.”

I wish the ballots and process everywhere were as simple and reassuring as they are in my town.

I just got this letter from the Big Dawg:
Dear XXXX,
Yesterday I traveled to Haiti to deliver emergency supplies, see the conditions on the ground first-hand, and meet with government officials.
I wish you could have seen what I saw. Haitians were performing surgeries at night, without lights, with no anesthesia, using vodka to sterilize equipment. It’s astonishing what they’ve been able to accomplish in such devastating conditions.
We delivered the first of the supplies made possible by your support — generators, gas cans, solar flashlights, bottles of water, food, and medicines. You can be assured that your donations are being put to good use. We’ve already distributed more than $3 million to 12 organizations on the ground.
Only with your continued generosity will we be able to sustain these efforts and save more lives. Please make a donation of any size today:
http://www.clintonfoundation.org/haitiearthquake
Even after this earthquake, I believe Haiti has the best chance in my lifetime to escape its history — a history that Hillary and I have been able to share in a small way.
It’s going to take a lot of help and a long time, but they can build a better future if we do our part.
Thank you for your compassion and commitment to the people of Haiti,
Bill Clinton

Agreed!
And that reminds me of something ominous… fraudbama moved up the date of the SOTU speech. It had been rumored for February and now it’s next week. Some speculate it’s a sign he has no confidence Martha will win and is planning on ramming the bill thru anyway.
Zee 01.19.10 at 6:23 pm
((TT)) #162 You sound terse.
I decided on my drink for this evening. Dark and Stormies. I figured they were appropriate. Less than two hours before the polls close, I’ll go down and brave the tv soon…
Speaking of stormy, stay safe, CA PUMAs….

Boston Globe calls election for Martha Coakley?
Boston.com briefly put up this map of the final results of today’s election — some 8 hours before polls closed!
As you can see, over 2 million people voted, with Coakley eking out a 50-49 victory.
The map was fully interactive, so you could roll over and get town-by-town results — above we show Coakley taking Cohasset 56-43

Charges of ballot tampering emerge in Senate race
Charges of ballot tampering are already flying as Bay State voters are packing the polls in heavy numbers today in the 11th-hour nailbiter to choose a successor for the late U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy.
Both camps of rivals Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican Scott Brown report possible election violations.
“We have seen a number of disturbing incidents this evening that have called into question the integrity of this election,” Coakley campaign manager Kevin Conroy said.

***********************
This implies that you can bring your own ballet into the polling stations.
Is it not true in MA, that when you give your name and show some identification in the voting hall, the person then gives you your ballot to mark?
If that is true, his email is sssoooo bogus..
