Not Reimbursable. Get to know those two words, Women. You will be hearing them quite often in upcoming years. In addition to mammograms, did you know that Plan B is not covered by insurance? Yep, and it costs $50+ a pop. Of course that’s WAAAAY less than the cost of raising a child, but it could be too much for some youngsters. You also need a prescription if you’re under 18. The cost to a 16 year old to get to a doctor and ask for a prescription, and in the process be forced to “confess” to a complete stranger that you had unprotected sex, and THEN make it to the pharmacy and cough up $50 bucks is so HIGH that the only girls who effectively have access to Plan B are the ones who probably don’t need it. Bristol Palin sure as shootin’ couldn’t do it. Could your 15 year old? As Uppity says in the post linked to here, which I highly recommend you read:
“What a horrible place America is becoming for women in just two short years. Care to guess why?”
For some good reporting on the new mammogram guidelines, read THIS.
Hunger is at its highest rate since 1995, when records first started being kept:
“17 million American households, or 14.6 percent of the total, ‘had difficulty putting enough food on the table at times during the year.’”
The five year old girl in North Carolina who was allegedly sold as a sex slave by her mother has been found dead in a ditch. Literally.
Speaking of human slavery:
“This argument collapses even further into The Chasm of Lousy Excuses for Inaction when you speak to the women themselves. It wasn’t Shahnaz’s culture to have her face burned off or Mukhtar’s to be gang raped. No—it was the culture of their oppressors. Slaves do not love their chains; women do not love to be subordinated. There is a conflict within these cultures—and we must now pick a side or sit out the great civil rights battle of our time.”
If you think it’s not happening here in the United States, THINK AGAIN.

Congressman Blasts White House for Faulty Job Data on Government Web Site
The government Web site — Recovery.gov — is under fire for posting a number of jobs created in congressional districts that don’t exist and for accepting unrealistic data from several reporting outlets.

For instance, the Web site reported that 30 jobs were saved or created with $761,420 of federal stimulus spending in Arizona’s 15th Congressional District. One problem with the claim — the state has only eight districts
The site also lists 12 other non-existent districts in Arizona where jobs were reportedly saved or created. It also lists imaginary districts in at least three other states, including Oklahoma, Iowa, and Connecticut.

If I listened to the new government task force on mammo screenings for women over 50 I would be dead since I was 39 when my lump was discovered in a Mammogram.
One need to only spend time in a breast cancer oncologists office to comprehend how dangerous that statement is for women.
As with all cancer early detection saves lifes.
A mammogram is not only a way to detect early breast cancer in women it is a way to monitor the “lumps” from year to year that many women have that lie dormant for years and then begin to change. Many times as with the case of my 22 year old niece those who have a history of breast cancer can decide to have these “lumps” removed before they begin to change thus saving them years of worry.
So why is early detection and preventative life saving testing being denied to women?
We are truly going backwards.

Additionally, mammography screening of women older than 75 is not considered necessary, since those women may be diagnosed with a cancer that is unlikely to cause a problem in their lifetime.

FLB,
My daughter discovered lumps at age 32 by self exam. They were just cysts at that time. She is now 39, in remission for uterine cancer, and still has lumps, just went through a lumpectomy and is facing double mastectomy. They are keeping a close watch on her. So, what they are saying now is she could be refused her mammograms because the cost is too high.
to them, womens’s lives are valued at nothing.

The world is watching how the USA treats women citizens .
We have seen the utter contempt and disrespect for the SECOND WOMAN to ever have run for HIGH FOR HIGH OFFICE in this country . In the history books, as much as it saddens me to say so .. Hillary will not be included in having run in the 2008 presidential campaign ( because the primary was stolen from her) . But Sarah Palins name will be in the history books of the USA as the second ever , and first republican woman, ever to have run.
This perspective seems to have been lost on those who have such narrow tunnel vision they cannot see the big picture .
What will also be in the books is how she was treated by the media , her own party , and the opposition as well. It is a disgrace to this country that we cannot treat our women with the respect they are due. And if we cannot even render women the respect they are due when they run for high office, how can the women who are poor or sick ,or both …expect fair and equitable treatment ?
The world is watching us .
goofsmom 11.17.09 at 12:58 pm
Swannie,
The world maybe watching us, but do they care? How many country’s will line up and complain about the way the US is treating women?
IMHO, they are more worried about the climate and what the US can do to help them, than how the US treats women.
Swannie 11.17.09 at 1:05 pm
No, goofs they do not “care”….. we, as leaders of the free world are the ones who should care … and the evidence is piling up that we do not , but we need to start by changing our perspective.

“When Betty Ford contracted breast cancer and underwent subsequent treatment, including a mastectomy, in 1974, she became the first presidential wife to be candid about the details of her health. In her autobiography, The Times of My Life (1978), Betty revealed her thoughts after her mastectomy: “Thinking of all those women going for cancer checkups because of me, I’d come to recognize more clearly the power of the woman in the White House. Not my power, but the power of the position, a power which could be used to help.” By speaking out about her breast cancer, Betty Ford became a very respected first lady. In an era when breast cancer was rarely discussed, she greatly expanded the public’s awareness of the disease, inspired thousands of women to have routine mammograms, pushed researchers to work toward prevention and cure, and encouraged others to establish breast cancer support groups.”

Murphy ; heart research in this country was originally not even directed toward women untill the nineties
After years of research concerning the causes and treatment of heart disease in men, attention finally turned to heart disease in women in 1988, when the American Heart Association began a new research program. A review is presented of a meeting in Texas at which results from selected projects were presented. Recent findings about the importance of the female hormone progesterone in causing heart attacks in postmenopausal women, rather than the absence of estrogen (which has been considered to be protective in this regard), were discussed. (from a paper published in 1990 )
Now .. to “cut costs ” we see what health care cuts will be made , to WOMEN. Since you are now reading HALF THE SKY , you are aware that less health care being made available for women is common in countries in which the balance of power is held by men . It seems that more people are becoming aware that the USA is one of those countries .

Called this morning and scheduled a mammogram. it’s been 3 years and I thought I better do it now before insurance makes it so difficult that I won’t bother. I’m over 60 so theoretically I would be covered, but who knows for sure. Women should still continue to do self breast exams, no matter what the hc industry says.
Does insurance still refuse to cover monthly birth control pills or has that changed.

The study seems to be denying that mammograms become better and better all the time. This is important because the new digital machines do not give off as much radiation, so they are safer. The radiation danger for women with the new machines is therefore less of an isssue. In addition, the new machines show so much more than the old machines did. Since this study used old machines, the scientists are essentially ignoring the fact that with the technology more cancers would be found. I also find the part about false- positives insulting and paternalistic. The argument is that when a lump is found, a biopsy is done and if the woman discovers that it was a false alarm that is a bad thing!! The poor woman had stress and anxiety and she worried her sweet little head for nothing. Please, be honest the study says that it is not COST effective for the US medical conglomerate to pay for mammograms. They cost too much money and they find cancer that needs to be treated.
I am so sick of all the pink stuff. This is a horrible disease, stop making it into a Dismeyland advertising extravaganza. End of rant.

Congresswoman wants hearings on new breast cancer screening guidelines
By Michael O’Brien – 11/17/09 01:38 PM ET
Congress may hold hearings on a government panel’s new recommendations for breast cancer screenings, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said Tuesday.
Wasserman Schultz, who earlier this year revealed that she’d undergone a double mastectomy and treatments for breast cancer in 2008, blasted a United States Preventive Services Task Force report recommending that women begin screening for the cancer at age 50, instead of age 40, as is currently recommended.
“We can’t turn literally 20 years of recommendations …upside down, and discourage women from becoming familiar with the look and feel of their breasts,” the Florida lawmaker and Democratic chief deputy whip said during an appearance on MSNBC.

BEIJING – President Barack Obama and Chinese President Hu Jintao promised a determined, joint effort to tackle climate change, nuclear disarmament and other global troubles yet emerged from their first full-blown summit Tuesday with scant progress beyond goodwill.
snip
Headway was made on climate change. The two committed their countries — the biggest emitters of the heat-trapping gases causing global warming — to backing a detailed political agreement at the Copenhagen conference. In their formula, rich countries would commit to reduction targets while developing ones would agree to meet softer goals that would be monitored.
Yet the positions were not markedly different from those Beijing and Washington held before Obama’s arrival.
Keeping the differences veiled rather than open was a measure of success of sorts for Obama. With its economy still in trouble, U.S. international prestige still battered and China holding $800 billion in U.S. government debt, Obama came to the Beijing summit with a weaker hand than previous U.S. presidents. That makes the emphasis on practical cooperation all the more needed, Chinese analysts said.

SALT LAKE CITY – A woman charged in the 2002 kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart pleaded guilty Tuesday as part of a deal with federal prosecutors and asked Smart to forgive her for all the pain she had caused.
Wanda Eileen Barzee apologized in court, saying she was “humbled as I realize how much Elizabeth Smart has been victimized and the role that I played in it.”
“I am so sorry, Elizabeth, for all the pain and suffering I have caused you and your family,” Barzee, 64, said. “It is my hope that you will be able to find it in your heart to forgive me.”
Barzee could receive a life sentence but by a pleas deal she will probably get 15 years, with 6 years already served.
Details of the captivity are described in the rest of the article.

Great question why?
FLBarbara 11.17.09 at 3:46 pm
I don’t think it will matter IF the woman will follow the new guidelines
What will matter is that the Insurance Company’s will follow the new guidelines and refuse to pay for them when you want one but are under 50
BigCatLover 11.17.09 at 3:53 pm
The more people that speak out against the new guidelines the more the media will cover the story, and the more chance to get the ears of our tone deaf govt and hc industry.

Fox News has started the last 2 hours of broadcast with the new guidelines story. They currently have a doctor on using facts and figures to slam this new guideline. Also interviewing breast cancer survivors.

All this anti-woman rhetoric is bearing it’s fruit.
Take a look at this. It was published in 1974.
3. I now consider briefly in the light of the Sira a collection of misconceptions of the Islamization process
a. Some groups while not going to the extent of consciously believing that they are the only Muslims, work and plan on that assumption, and so refuse to acknowledge the valuable contribution of other groups, individuals and official bodies and try to isolate themselves from them. There was indeed nothing Islamic at the time of the Makkan period except that which the Prophet and the few Muslims around him did. But the Prophet acknowledged as good, and encouraged everything which, in accordance with his Islamic standards, was good. Thus while at Madina he remembered and praised hilf al fudul, a confederacy whose aim was to defend the oppressed and help the poor and in whose formation he took part when he was twenty. Why should we then refuse to acknowledge the Islamic nature of a thing or work just because someone else did it? I believe that the right attitude is to acknowledge the Islamic nature of a thing or work just because someone else did it? I believe that the right attitude is to acknowledge and encourage everything Islamic irrespective of who did it, and consider it an asset for the Islamization process.
http://www.jaafaridris.com/English/Books/procisla.htm
The isalmists will work with anyone who furthers their goal of world domination. and of course, who would stand in their way more than free women?
The destruction of western women is essential to the establishment of a worldwide islamic state.

Stupak Amendment
Just received an eamil from Senator Barbara Boxer urging stopping the Stupak Amendment. To sign petition below go to link:
http://action.barbaraboxer.com/page/s/fightforwomen?source=ffwh_bbemail
Petition Content
We the undersigned oppose inclusion of the Stupak Amendment in any health care reform legislation because it would be one of the biggest setbacks to women’s health in recent decades.
The Stupak Amendment overturns a difficult and delicate compromise that has held firm for decades: Women can use their own private funds for legal reproductive health care procedures, but federal funds cannot be used for abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or to protect the life of the mother.
The Stupak Amendment discriminates against women by taking away health coverage they already have — and tells women who participate in the new health insurance exchange that they can’t even use their own funds to buy a policy that includes abortion coverage.
The Stupak Amendment is discriminatory, extreme, and just plain wrong.
We urge the defeat of any effort to include this amendment in the final health care reform bill sent to President Obama.http://action.barbaraboxer.com/page/s/fightforwomen?source=ffwh_bbemail

The actual study is a meta analysis of other people’s studies undertaken by researchers from Oregon.
While spokespersons from health insurance companies say they have ‘no plans’ to change their coverage for mammograms that is possibly accurate – they perhaps don’t have any plans as of this particular moment but it would challenge my belief to think that they won’t follow the guidelines

From the Hillaryis44 article, she hits the nail on the head for 2012:
While we don’t think Hillary Clinton will directly challenge Obama for the nomination in 2012, we do think it is the job of sensible Democrats and smart Hillary supporting websites to drive Obama from the 2012 race. It is also the job for American citizens who care about the country.
Did we mention that “two-thirds of the public thinks that Secretary of State HIllary Clinton’s qualified for the Oval Office. That’s more than Vice President Joe Biden, who’s currently next in line for the presidency.”?
The CNN survey indicates that 67 percent of people questioned say that Clinton is qualified to serve in the Oval Office, 17 points higher than the 50 percent of Americans who think that Biden’s qualified to take over as president.

Once again we see the carpathia administration at its finest.
Congress wants to determine what failures allowed Army Major Nidal Hasan to kill 14 people and wound dozens of others in a premeditated shooting spree at Fort Hood. The Obama administration has refused to cooperate into a probe to find those failures. Ben Pershing at the Washington Post wrote last night that the White House refuses to provide witnesses to Congress for hearings into the counterterrorism failure:
The first public congressional hearing on the Fort Hood attack will not include testimony from any current federal law enforcement, military or intelligence officials because the Obama administration “declined to provide any” such witnesses, according to a Senate committee source.
The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has released the witness list for its hearing “The Fort Hood Attack: A Preliminary Assessment,” scheduled for Thursday at 10 a.m. ET. The list includes four experts on terrorism and intelligence issues: retired Gen. Jack Keane, the former U.S. Army vice chief of staff; Brian Jenkins, a senior advisor at the Rand Corp.; Mitchell Silber, the director of analysis for the New York City Police Department’s Intelligence Division; and Juan Zarate, a senior advisor for the Transnational Threats Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
But the list does not include anyone actively involved in investigating the Fort Hood attack, or anyone who might have been responsible for decisions made by various government agencies before the attack about whether to investigate the shooting suspect, Nidal Hasan. The Senate committee source said HSGAC Chairman Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) had hoped to have witnesses from the FBI and the U.S. Army, but was rebuffed in his requests.

First lady with a voice.
Laura Bush has become a breast cancer activist through her involvement in the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. She applauded the foundation’s efforts in eliminating cancer and said, “A few short years ago, a diagnosis of breast cancer left little hope of recovery. But thanks to the work of the Komen Foundation… more women and men are beating breast cancer and beating the odds.” She used her position to gain international support for the foundation through the Partnership for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research of the Americas, an initiative that unites experts from the United States, Brazil, Costa Rica and Mexico.
She first became involved with The Heart Truth awareness campaign in 2003. It is an organization established by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to raise awareness about heart disease in women, and how to prevent the condition. She serves in the honorary position of ambassador for the program leading the federal government’s effort to give women a “wake up call” about the risk of heart disease.
In November 2001, she became the first person other than a president to deliver the weekly presidential radio address. She used the opportunity to discuss the plight of women in Afghanistan during the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, saying, “The brutal oppression of women is a central goal of the terrorists.” In May 2002, she made a speech to the people of Afghanistan through Radio Liberty, a radio station in Prague, Czech Republic.

What a sick bastard.
In a realated story, in an effort to cut costs in health care for Americans, the Obama administration is offering free breast exams performed on infidel and Muslim women by Somali men, as they have much recent experience in examining women’s breasts. This will help cut health care cost by eliminating the need for mammograms while helping America progress to a New World Governance where Shari-ah jurisprudence is welcome in our inclusive and open society.

I was reading up on the “new” recommendations of No Mammo needed for women before I came in here and noted the blog of the day is about Mammograms.
I think the old ladies at the town hall meetings not so long ago knew something when they screamed “death sentence” at the Health Bill. Nancy Pelosi and partners in crime, scoffed and ridiculed these people that called out the bill as death sentence.. at that time it was against seniors.
But now who is also holding the short end of the stick ? No mammograms needed ?… Can I elect to have it because I don’t want no Jack or Jill to decide for me whether I need it or not ? Would my insurance now elect not to pay for it because of these new “recommendations”.
Every day brings jaw dropping news of the nasty kind. Enough already.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/jobs-saved-created-congressional-districts-exist/story?id=9097853
Human Error Blamed for Crediting New Stimulus Jobs to Nonexistent Places
By JONATHAN KARL
Nov. 16, 2009
Here’s a stimulus success story: In Arizona’s 15th congressional district, 30 jobs have been saved or created with just $761,420 in federal stimulus spending. At least that’s what the Web site set up by the Obama administration to track the $787 billion stimulus says.
Share
Discrepancies on government web site call into question stimulus spending.
There’s one problem, though: There is no 15th congressional district in Arizona; the state has only eight districts.
And ABC News has found many more entries for projects like this in places that are incorrectly identified.
Late Monday, officials with the Recovery Board created to track the stimulus spending, said the mistakes in crediting nonexistent congressional districts were caused by human error.
“We report what the recipients submit to us,” said Ed Pound, Communications Director for the Board.
Pound told ABC News the board receives declarations from the recipients – state governments, federal agencies and universities – of stimulus money about what program is being funded.
“Some recipients clearly don’t know what congressional district they live in, so they appear to be just throwing in any number. We expected all along that recipients would make mistakes on their congressional districts, on jobs numbers, on award amounts, and so on. Human beings make mistakes,” Pound said.
The issue has raised hackles on Capitol Hill.
Rep. David Obey, D-Wisc, who chairs the powerful House appropriations Committee, issued a paper statement demanding that the recovery.gov Web site be updated.
“The inaccuracies on recovery.gov that have come to light are outrageous and the Administration owes itself, the Congress, and every American a commitment to work night and day to correct the ludicrous mistakes.”

That’s good to know about Laura.
I’m trying to calm down after hearing about the mammograms. I think it was the Wall St Journal today that had some heinous article outlining how Stupak-Pitts didn’t matter because “most” women could come up with the money somehow. They even quoted a past president of NOW who said women get “creative” when they need to come up with the money.
I really lit into the obots over that this morning and needed to walk away because I had real life things to attend to. But this is all life or death for women and the message is, oh, well, we’ll lose a few but survival of the most “creative.”
Zee 11.17.09 at 8:40 pm
freddiebrown, I finally got enough resolve to follow Murphy’s link on the mammograms, and then the lone comment there got me all worked up again.
The lone commenter explained how her self-exam and then mammogram saved her life because she had an aggressive form of breast cancer.
There was one super wealthy woman who had this form of cancer, and she tried to publicize it, but now you never hear of it. It’s a fast-growing one and every two years after age 50 won’t cut it for those people.
Fine, they recommend those with a family history to have more exams, but what about adopted women? What about this new more aggressive form of the cancer?
RememberNovember 11.17.09 at 8:46 pm
Zee – Hi
The WSJ article inaccurate? (have not read it yet). My understanding is that women in the health insurance exchange (which will be most of us once employers drop current coverage) cannot use their own funds to pay for an abortion. See my #79 above – email from Sen Boxer asking for support for petition against Stupak.
From her email:
[The Stupak Amendment discriminates against women by taking away health coverage they already have — and tells women who participate in the new health insurance exchange that they can’t even use their own funds to buy a policy that includes abortion coverage.}
RememberNovember 11.17.09 at 8:54 pm
IMHO the mammogram guidelines are insane and no self exam? None of their GD business – does not cost them a thing except when we find a lump and need it looked at. I have not read the reports yet but a quick glance (even though they said cost was not a criterion) shows them comparing relative costs (expensive, more expensive etc.)
I am incensed at this and need to dig into it more thoroughly ..
Juliette 11.17.09 at 9:14 pm

Great point with adopted women of which I have a friend who has breast cancer at 33.
Also family history is a small indicator. There was no breast cancer in my family till me.it does have to start with someone.
After surgery I had to have a Mammo every six months because of the type that does multiply quickly as a matter of fact when I had my surgery to remove the lump found on a mamma at age 39 there was another 1Cmm lump in the same area that was not there or did not show on the original mammo.
Over 50 and every two years is deadly for women and I find it so hard to believe we are discussing this.

I am just thinking what about the false positives of a pap smear will we now decrease them as to not worry women?
Isn’t a false positive easier to handle than turning 50 and having a mammo and learning you have a cancer that has been invading your body for years?
Besides do we really believe they are concerned about a womans emotional well being.

This is a good idea. I can send an email to Lady Lynn if you like. I got to know her while she was working with democrats for McCain after the DNC debacle. She is also a fan of Sarah Palin.
You can bet that the majority of cuts in health care will be aimed at women’s health. Estee Lauder headquarters is in No. New Jersey somewhere ( I saw it when I got lost out there once). Evelyn Lauder’s support could do alot to wake up N.Y. Obotts who still believe he is some kind of savior to man kind.

I do think we could garner huge support along with Lady Lynn Rothchild… Who also sits on the Board of Estee Lauder’s Company…. JUST trying to think outside of the box and use the resources that are out there… And, Believe me Estee Lauder is HUGE!!!!!!!! Their Company is primary based on Women support…. Period!!!!!! I just know if we ( Pumas ) could hammer out a letter or petition to them they will respond and act….. That I can assure YOU….. I have been dealing with Estee Lauder for about 15 years…. I have met them all…. Murphy if you are here…. what do you think??????

The next test to go will be the pap smear. Since the young women have the vaccine, that only protects against some strains of the virus that causes cervical cancer, why bother with the test. It will only protect old women that are gonna die anyway (and are kinda expensive to keep alive with all those nursing homes and demands for tea.).

She is blasting the AP for putting 11 fact checkers on Sarah Palin’s book and doing nothing like that for the men who have published recently–Newt Gingrich, Kennedy, etc. Asking for men’s feet to be held to the fire and saying women should be speaking up more about how other women are being treated. She also has an excellent interview on the true costs of this healthcare bill–perhaps around 3 trillion and how the House has managed to hide those numbers. I missed the first minutes so I don’t know if she covered the mammogram issue. I’m loving her right now!

Nov. 17 Mammography in the news.
It seems we have been down this road before when the American College of Physicians made a similar recommendation on mammography to the Bush administration. Bush listened to the out cry from the American Cancer Society and National Cancer Institute and the new after 50 protocol never went into affect on his watch. Let’s see if Obama will listen. Better yet let’s make damm sure he does, and never let him take credit for what WILL be our victory.

Hey Did anybody watch “V” on ABC? It’s a sci-fi drama that was clearly created to take on the Obama cult mentality. The first episode was most telling but the innuendo is still quite prevalent.

Hi ya…
freddiebrown 11.17.09 at 11:21 pm
Survival of the fittest – should be the byline of the new Health Bill.
Lets fact check Obama’s book, why don’t we .
Every day in every way, I question why the double standards, the general disregard and disrespect is so blatantfor women. But hey, the equalizer is that the mortality rate for men is much lower than for women. I am not a man hater but sometimes the policy makers and the powers that be are just a bit too much.
FLBarbara 11.17.09 at 11:24 pm
Hi Juliette
I caught some of V the first episode and thought hmmm are they talking about Obama cause it was about Change. Then I heard all the controversy. Tonight was a little hard to follow I did hear all the talk about Hope. Strange.
goofsmom 11.17.09 at 11:29 pm
freddiebrown,
Yep, they are way to much… I’m in quite a funk today from all the news…
FLBarbara 11.17.09 at 11:31 pm
Freddiebrown
Obamas books are works of Fiction.
Double standards how true.they are tearing Sarah Palin apart.I just heard someone say” she is just like an amusement park ride”
They are also comparing her to Eva Perone!! Its crazy.

Palin : Like her or not (and there are 3(plus Fred)in our household that like her) there are many who are still out to make her seem like a villian. She must be doing something right to have so many people sit up and give her the time of day – however you look at it.
At least the women on the View – (I saw snippets on Fox) that don’t feel that the Newsweek cover was appropriate – well with the exception of the Joyous Joy who I would be happy to flush down the drain with a lot of other Obama lovin folks.
freddiebrown 11.17.09 at 11:57 pm
Goofsmom – Ya.. sometimes the funk does sneak in when there are daily assults on what we are fighting for. Pumas may not agree on everything here but we are a feisty lot and it takes a lot to shut us up. So take a break from the news and carry on…
goofsmom 11.18.09 at 12:02 am
(((FL Barbara))) Nighty-night… sweet dreams… and thank you
goofsmom 11.18.09 at 12:05 am
(((FreddieBrown)))
Thank you too… I won’t give up, but some days are harder than others with the continual assaults to and on women. From the press, the government, family, strangers, etc.
freddiebrown 11.18.09 at 12:22 am
Goofsmom… if you want to vent,,please email me. Anytime(but let me know so I check). Sometimes I have ideas, sometimes I don’t but I try not to judge but lend an ear or a solution when I have one. I hope the tunnel still has a light at the end.
goofsmom 11.18.09 at 12:27 am
(((freddiebrown)))
The tunnel still has a light at the end… just taking a while to get there…
Thank you for your offer of an ear, hope you know that it goes both way. Today is just the news and all the shananigans that the government and press are pulling.
I just can’t believe the decisions that are being made, supposedly for the best interest of the public. How can they make decisions for us when they won’t listen to us, won’t read our emails, letters or faxes. Arrrrrrgh…
Vote the bums out!!! Vote for Women!!!
Zee 11.18.09 at 12:27 am
Hey goofs…may be hard to take, but there is more bad news. A doctor in Oklahoma, aptly named Wolf, just stabbed his 9 year old son to death. The mother was stabbed, too, with defensive wounds, perhaps trying to save her son. The details are appalling, what few have emerged.
Zee 11.18.09 at 12:38 am
Toxic…that’s the only thing I can think. The violence tolerated is a toxin. We have entire groups of kids who think that Rihanna provoked Chris Brown. Next we’ll have excuses for this Dr. Wolf.
goofsmom 11.18.09 at 12:38 am
Zee,
Don’t forget to post those articles to the women lynching forum. Dragonfly had posted a bunch there today. I try to remember to post on there too… http://pumapac.org/forums/woman-lynching/
Yep, stories like that are part of the funk. It just breaks my heart… sigh…
freddiebrown 11.18.09 at 12:39 am
Sometimes I wish I didn’t want to know what is going on in the world – no news channel, no internet opening up to CNN as default, no Puma blog. Have to try it one day. I bet I get more work done – I’m trying to work as I speak.
HI ZEE !
goofsmom 11.18.09 at 12:41 am
Zee,
Of course, there will be excuses for the Dr. Wolf. Look at what they are trotting out for Maj. Nadal.
I consider the Dr. Wolf’s of the world as Family Terrorists.
goofsmom 11.18.09 at 12:44 am
freddiebrown,
You can change the settings on your computer so it doesn’t open to CNN. I couldn’t handle it, my computer wanted to open to MSN news and figured out how to change the setting… Now I just see the weather and the date.
Zee 11.18.09 at 12:48 am
Sorry, freddiebrown and goofs, I don’t know what I was thinking, posting this so late at night.
And I agree…I have to take breaks, too, or I’d get nothing done! I wasted a lot of time arguing with GUYS about this Stupak-Pitts amendment.
I did get a few good things done today! I think it’s time for milk and bed…!
goofsmom 11.18.09 at 12:50 am
Nighty-night Zee… Sleep well…
freddiebrown 11.18.09 at 12:53 am
Goofs – I set it to CNN so that I am not clueless when important things happen. I should really change it to Fox. I need to set it to some mindless website or as my husband does, the word of the day dictionary (yuk).
Milk and cookies sound good now… I’ll make tea and have cookies..
Do that Goofs…you’ll feel better. If no cookies around. have toast and jam.
Till tomorrow ZEE and Goofs ! I have to keep plodding on.
goofsmom 11.18.09 at 1:18 am
freddiebrown,
I will join you and Zee… Your suggestion of toast and jam made me laugh and think of a song… I’ll have a little tea with jam and bread.
Nighty-night freddie… sleep well… I’ll be singing myself to sleep.

I’ve been thinking the same. POTUS accused someone of calculator abuse: pot calling kettle …. just saying.
Have you seen the clip of Sarah with Barbara Walters – appeared to exhibit decent behavior this time? Barbara asked Sarah to rate Obama zero to 10. Sarah gave him a four.
Of course, Rasmussen had him at -12 yesterday. How much good news can you stand today?????
theamericanway 11.18.09 at 6:25 am
uh oh, there’s an oblique reference above. To be clear, it is Barbara who appeared to exhibit decent behavior. I’ve never seen Sarah speak in a blatantly rude manner.

And while Newsweek is in the hot seat for sexism, let’s remember who set the tone
http://edgeoforever.wordpress.com/2009/11/18/palin-brings-sexism-to-the-forefront/
Zee 11.18.09 at 10:02 am
More on Newsweek….they are in the hot seat with at least one leftwing media watch dog:
http://mediamatters.org/blog/200911170027
And Tn Guerilla Women has the latest on it up on their top story. Has anyone here seen the slutty schoolgirl Palin doll? What next? A picture of her as a blow-up doll? Newsweek should be pulled from the shelves. Can you imagine if they’d pictured a blackface doll of Obama?
Well, how is this any different? You have to go see the doll to believe it.
BigCatLover 11.18.09 at 10:37 am
The best way to protest this garbage, is to cancel your subscription to Newsweek and all other publications that print misgynist and sexist crap, AND LET THEM KNOW WHY YOU ARE CANCELLING. I can’t understand why any enlightened women would still be a subscriber to Newsweek or Time, but if you are, cancel it now.

Correct email sorry
DancesWithPumas 11.18.09 at 11:12 am
I think I heard NEGATIVE FOURTEEN (-14)
is that correct?
How does the Omessiah rate a MINUS 14???? Could it be that the flunky is a complete FAIL?
Me thinks so. Pumas think so? and the brighter of the fools who voted for him are awakening. What will the stoopid moran obots do when / if they ever awaken? Let’s order razor blades and dispense to them, no charge.
FLBarbara 11.18.09 at 11:42 am
Yes we heard right
The POTUS is at -14 that is NEGATIVE 14
MINUS 14
But let’s take a look at someone else we know approval rating just for kicks
Poll: Clinton has high job approval• Story Highlights• CNN/Opinion Research poll finds 71 percent approve of secretary of state’s work• Even a plurality of Republicans say Hillary Clinton doing a good job• Clinton’s distance from economic crisis helps, polling director says• Secretary’s approval rating is higher than President Obama’s•
That is 71 percent approval rating, even hard to please Republicans approve of Hillary.
I especially enjoy the Secretary’s approval rating is higher than President Obamas.
That’s because he is sucking at NEGATIVE 14
Bwahahahahahahaha
I love it.
sheila7 11.18.09 at 11:46 am
WTF!
I am starting to feel like I live in the biggest cesspool here in Missouri. Another bus beating. This time a boy beating on a girl. Lovely. The district won’t release the tape.
http://www.fox2now.com/news/ktvi-hazelwood-west-school-bus-beating-111709,0,2406630.story
“Police have asked for the surveillance video but the district won’t even give it to them without a subpoena. Investigators are now trying to get that subpoena.”

Sure. I’ll use stick figures to demonstrate the procedure. 32 panels should do it… altho, the balance of 28 will just be repeats of the first four.
“One Term” or “Do Not Resusitate”.

Some good news about mammograms, at least in Missouri. Women will be covered under Missouri law if their insurance is state licensed.
“Missouri law is very clear that women have the right to have their insurance companies cover the cost of mammograms starting at age thirty-five,” said Travis Ford, the spokesperson for the Missouri Department of Insurance.

And ‘polarizing’ H. Clinton has a 71% approval rating. My, my, my. Ain’t that a kick in the head. The Obama media is just going to have to try harder to slime her. They got distracted with that other woman, but they need to get back to fluffing Obama harder. Hehehe
