Dances
I heard that you are an angel. How come you didn’t tell me.

I have tried to catch up and can not keep up. I was lost and alone for 4 days and could not find PumaPac. I did not call Murphy because I was afraid that she was sooooooooooo overwhelmed by the site’s beign down that she could not deal with more worries.

Then I got back. It was such a wonderful thing to be back. I am still happy over it.

I came across that very unusual description of Dances and had to comment on it. I know that she is a angel but did not know that other people knew.

I was so glad to see that TexasTigress was also lost in cyberspace. I thought I was the only lost soul.

Glad to be back. Have been to busy to post much but love to have PumaPac here. Without it I am not safe.

Poor Pwesident Obama…

The First Marriage
By JODI KANTOR

I.
Another Washington dusk, another motorcade, another intimate evening played out in public view. On Oct. 3, just a day after their failed Olympics bid in Copenhagen, Barack and Michelle Obama slipped into a Georgetown restaurant for one of their now-familiar date nights: this time, to toast their 17th wedding anniversary. As with their previous outings, even the dark photographs taken by passers-by and posted on the Web looked glamorous: the president tieless, in a suit; the first lady in a backless sheath.

The Obama date-night tradition stretches back to the days when the president spent half his time in Springfield, Ill., reuniting at week’s close with his wife, who kept a regular Friday manicure and hair appointment for the occasion. But five days before he ventured out for his anniversary dinner, the president lamented what has happened to his nights out with his wife.

“I would say the one time during our stay here in the White House so far that has. . . .” He paused so long in choosing his words that Michelle Obama, sitting alongside him, prompted him. “Has what?”

“Annoyed me,” the president answered.

“Don’t say it!” the first lady mock-warned. “Uh-oh.”

“Was when I took Michelle to New York and people made it into a political issue,” he continued, recalling the evening last spring when they flew to New York for dinner and a show, eliciting Republican gibes for spending federal money on their own entertainment.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/01/magazine/01Obama-t.html?_r=1&hp=&pagewanted=print

“during our stay in the White House. Someone poke the shmuck and let him know the WH isnt a bed and breakfast… he’s supposed to be working. Jackass.

Krauthammer – on Obama’s whining. This is the toughest I’ve heard Charles talk about Obama being a Whiner.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4xmPJ0xIzc

“There is something truly disgusting about the way he cannot refrain from attacking Bush when he’s being defensive about himself. It’s beyond disgraceful. Here he won an election a year ago. He became the Commander in Chief a few months later. He announced his own strategy, not the Bush strategy, six months ago and it wasn’t off-handed. It was a major address with the Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State standing with him… What’s happening today is not because of the so-called drift in the Bush years, it’s because of the drift in his year.”

Ouch – from US News: Obama not comfortable with Women:
President Obama drew heat last week for a story that surfaced outing his private White House male-only b-ball games. The story was that even though two female members of his cabinet were members of their college basketball teams, they were excluded, as were all women, from this most private of male-only clubs. The story became a metaphor for how the president views women generally and threatened to reveal some inconvenient truths about the man.

–snip–

Whether it was his treatment of Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail (as in his condescending remark that she was “likeable enough”) or his clearly career-oriented mate who has been toned down and remorphed into a Stepford Wife, I just don’t get the impression this man is comfortable with women. Nor do I believe he cares about them beyond needing women’s votes. It’s an act and a thoroughly see-through, amateur one at that.

Female cartoonist’s provocative work challenges Saudi society

LONDON, England (CNN) — For Saudi Arabia’s lone female cartoonist drawing is more than just satire, it’s “a duty.”

“I think men have put women in an unfavorable position in this part of the world. They’ve put women in an oppressive situation,” said Hana Hajjar, who works for the English-language newspaper Arab News.

“I feel it is my duty towards women to speak out on their behalf, because I have the tools and venue to do so,” she told CNN.

Hajjar’s drawings both challenge gender roles and critique political policy, often depicting inequality between the sexes and support for the Palestinian people, but she is careful not to push too far.

Is anyone here acquainted with the dread of turning on the computer in the morning or clicking on the CNN Breaking News link in your email for fear of what fresh hell awaits first thing in the morning?
________________________________

It’s Yahoo headlines for me… Dread with a big dose of helplessness and frustration.

I see so many stories of the violence that barbarians perpetrate against women and children. We need a national advocacy group for what is ocurring here. There are a number of wonderful Internationally focused groups… how do we get them to focus on the US. We aren’t a third world country suffering from poverty and war, so why should they focus on us.

My point is, we may not be a third world country but we still have the effects of poverty in our cities… we may not have military troops fighting in our streets, but we have gangs wars in our streets

The US keeps up it’s facade of being far and above these third world countries in our standard of living and social condition… It’s bunk and a lie… children die from starvation and poverty everyday, abuses and crimes against women and children happen at a staggering rate for a so-called world leading country.

I’m disgusted and depressed by the state the US is in and the bold-faced lies about how together and socially aware this country is… Let’s help ourselves here first because no one is going to come to the aid of those oppressed in a powerful world leading country.

Sorry, everyone… had to get it off my chest.

44

freddiebrown 10.28.09 at 9:08 pm

Goofsmom – it can be very depressing turning on the computer and going on
CNN or whatever poison delivery vehicle of choice…and then this blog. True Murphy is brilliant and brings to light all important and current social and political issues, but somedays, it is like…is there anything bright and cheery anymore on the news ?

45

freddiebrown 10.28.09 at 9:13 pm

DAnces Angel…looks like we have an accepted offer on a house in Julian – Pine Hills to be exact. Wondering WTF I got myself into. I hope I don’t have buyers remorse too soon.

46

goofsmom 10.28.09 at 9:17 pm

(((FreddieBrown)))

Bright and cheery, even uplifting stories would be helpful.

At the same time, I feel like it’s time to stop hiding from the truth. As long as there are stories like the one out of Richmond,CA we are failing ourselves and all our “sisters, aunts, grandmothers and children” by not getting involved.

I struggle everyday trying to figure out a way to wake up people. Sigh… No great ideas yet…

47

freddiebrown 10.28.09 at 9:23 pm

Oh, we were driving through some tiny little town in Virginia – if you blink, you will miss it… we saw a place that said granny’s diner/bakery. Sounded great ! We did a U turn and went inside. Immediately, right smack in the center of the back wall is a huge poster of Obama the Piece of Sh*t.
We didn’t take another step through the door and I wasn’t sure if my face registered the disgust.. outside a few AA folks looked at us wondering why we left.

This is Caltran’s spin to cover their a$$es and a big fat lie. A civil engineer professor from a University I know reported on the local radio and/or tv that he warned Caltran’s not to do this type of band-aid repair, that it would not hold. The original crack that was ‘repaired’ was caused by something causing a pulling stress, and this part flew off from the exact same stress situation that was there from the start.

Lives are at stake and it will be a cold day in Hell before I cross over this bridge unless I think they did something better to fix it. That prof also said the bridge that collapsed back east somewhere- a short time ago, broke from the same type of stress and the bridge was constructed the same way!!

During the German occupation of Poland, Sendler lived in Warsaw (prior to that, she had lived in Otwock and Tarczyn while working for urban Social Welfare departments). As early as 1939, when the Germans invaded Poland, she began aiding Jews. She and her helpers created over 3,000 false documents to help Jewish families, prior to joining the organized Żegota resistance and the children’s division. Helping Jews was very risky—in German-occupied Poland, all household members risked death if they were found to be hiding Jews, a more severe punishment than in other occupied European countries.

Nazi German poster in German and Polish (Warsaw, 1942) threatening death to any Pole who aided Jews
Jewish children in the Warsaw GhettoIn December 1942 the newly created Żegota (the Council to Aid Jews) nominated her (by her cover name Jolanta) to head its children’s section. As an employee of the Social Welfare Department, she had a special permit to enter the Warsaw Ghetto to check for signs of typhus, something the Nazis feared would spread beyond the Ghetto. During these visits, she wore a Star of David as a sign of solidarity with the Jewish people and so as not to call attention to herself.

She cooperated with the Children’s Section of the Municipal Administration, linked with the RGO (Central Welfare Council), a Polish relief organization that was tolerated under German supervision. She organized the smuggling of Jewish children out of the Ghetto, carrying them out in boxes, suitcases and trolleys. Under the pretext of conducting inspections of sanitary conditions during a typhoid outbreak, Sendler visited the Ghetto and smuggled out babies and small children in ambulances and trams, sometimes disguising them as packages. She also used the old courthouse at the edge of the Warsaw Ghetto (still standing) as one of the main routes for smuggling out children.

The children were placed with Polish families, the Warsaw orphanage of the Sisters of the Family of Mary, or Roman Catholic convents such as the Little Sister Servants of the Blessed Virgin Mary Conceived Immaculate at Turkowice and Chotomów. Some children were smuggled to priests in parish rectories. She hid lists of their names in jars in order to keep track of their original and new identities. Żegota assured the children that, when the war was over, they would be returned to Jewish relatives.

In 1943 Sendler was arrested by the Gestapo, severely tortured, and sentenced to death. Żegota saved her by bribing German guards on the way to her execution. She was left in the woods, unconscious and with broken arms and legs. She was listed on public bulletin boards as among those executed. For the remainder of the war, she lived in hiding, but continued her work for the Jewish children. After the war, she dug up the jars containing the children’s identities and attempted to find the children and return them to their parents. However, almost all of their parents had been killed at the Treblinka extermination camp or had gone missing otherwise.

Awards
“Every child saved with my help is the justification of my existence on this Earth, and not a title to glory.”—Letter to the Polish Parliament

Irena Sendler 2005After the war and the Soviet takeover of Poland, she was at first persecuted and imprisoned by the communist Polish state authorities for her relations with the Polish government in exile and with the Home Army. While in prison she miscarried her second child and her other children were later denied the right to study at communist controlled Polish universities.

Sendler with some children she saved, Warsaw, 2005In 1965 Sendler was recognized by Yad Vashem as one of the Righteous among the Nations, which was confirmed in 1983 by the Israeli Supreme Court. She also was awarded the Commander’s Cross by the Israeli Institute. Only in that year did the Polish communist government allow her to travel abroad, to receive the award in Israel.

In 2003 Pope John Paul II sent Sendler a personal letter praising her wartime efforts. On 10 October 2003 she received the Order of the White Eagle, Poland’s highest civilian decoration, and the Jan Karski Award “For Courage and Heart,” given by the American Center of Polish Culture in Washington, D.C..

On 14 March 2007 Sendler was honored by Poland’s Senate. At age 97, she was unable to leave her nursing home to receive the honor, but she sent a statement through Elżbieta Ficowska, whom Sendler had saved as an infant. Polish President Lech Kaczyński stated she “can justly be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize” (though nominations are supposed to be kept secret). On 11 April 2007, she received the Order of the Smile as the oldest recipient of the award.

In May 2009, Irena Sendler was posthumously granted the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award. The award, named in honor of the late actress and UNICEF ambassador, is presented to persons and organizations recognised for helping children. In its citation, the Audrey Hepburn Foundation recalled Irena Sendler’s heroic efforts that saved two and a half thousand Jewish children during the German occupation of Poland in World War Two.

Sendler was the last survivor of the Children’s Section of the Żegota Council to Assist Jews, which she had headed from January 1943 until the end of the war.

Nobel nominee
In 2007 considerable publicity accompanied Sendler’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. While failed nominations for the award have not been officially announced by the Nobel organization for 50 years, the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo, reported in 2007 that Irena Sendler’s nominator had made the nomination public. Regardless of its legitimacy, talk of the nomination focused a spotlight on Sendler and her wartime achievements. The 2007 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and former Vice President of the United States Al Gore.

So going on trips and staying in strange antique cabins is stressful when the lights are off. Please don’t say camping and ghost in the same sentence.. I’ll never camp again. I sleep with the lights on, even on the 50th floor –

Dudleys bakery is a Dud !! I am a bit dissappointed in their quality, never mind the price. Bread N Cie in your neighborhood is much better-I think. I can do fantastic ice cream – rum raisin and vanilla. I can only make brick bread – aka door stoppers.

I had many things I wanted to say to those upthread but persephone finally won out with comment #36!!!

lololol. Yeah, cleanliness is next to Allahness, huh? I kid you not. Back when I used to post on a writers site a complete psycho Islamic woman, who’s also a children’s writer, of all things, used to tell us in complete sincerity of how she explained to a young girl how the most important thing to becoming a muslim was to wash her twat thoroughly all the time. She explained it her in detail how to do that in public washrooms, etc.

Damned freaks. I told her that amounted to inappropriate behavior toward a minor.

Oh, and this same woman used to try to disguise herself with pseudonyms and follow the more seedy threads and made lascivious remarks.

I think Dudley’s got complacent with their once popularity. They have such value in their brand but they let it diminish. I was there 2 months ago and went there because we ran out of bread. I was surprised at the price and boring looking breads there. Someone needs to buy that place and really bake some bread – artisan bread !!

Dances,

Agreed…. it’s okay for the kiddies but adults in masks is very freaky… seems like just an excuse for acting out of control and hiding behind a fake facade so you don’t get punished or held accountable…

76

DancesWithPumas 10.28.09 at 10:51 pm

Hi Zee
Yes, I miss the nested comments too.
It’s be great if we could have a hybrid of this theme plus nested comments.
Good to see you.

77

Zee 10.28.09 at 10:52 pm

Ohhhhhhh, goofs and dances..!

Now now, last year I was so depressed because my house got next to no kiddies. This year my brother is having a costume party (it is his b-day also, so he has a good excuse) and my son and I are going fully masked to surprise him!! So sometimes a mask can be super good fun.

If dances can stand it, I was going to send her a pic of my dog in costume…but he shares her sentiments on Halloween. He was not amused and so I skipped the canine parade.

78

goofsmom 10.28.09 at 10:56 pm

Zee,

Don’t get me wrong… or maybe I did say it badly… What you are doing is fine… It’s when it gets out of hand…

I definitly want to see your puppy… :)

79

Zee 10.28.09 at 10:56 pm

Dances, yes, the hybrid would be good. I don’t understand why we can’t “have it all” but I do understand none of it is very easy to create.

I’m happy to be here, too, albeit briefly. Training for a much better job (lifestyle-wise) and then going out of state on a jaunt.

btw, to whom it may concern, the Seaglass Goddess was correct, of course. I knew my last job was a disaster, and so did the sea goddess, but it was just something I had to give the old college try to.

DWP – Halloween is so fun in Hillcrest. They gay boys are so creative and love to show off. We may go hang out at Starbucks and watch them show off but you’re righ, masks at night is spooky.. Fred will wear his pirates eye patch or his tux T shirt.

83

DancesWithPumas 10.28.09 at 10:58 pm

I have three questions for the Sea Goddess…
at her pleasure, of course.

84

None of my business… Never heard of the Sea Goddess…

85

I like the tux costume better.
Yes, Hillcrest is fun… but I planned this trip a few weeks ago with anoter RVer.

I didnt mean gay men in masks.. I meant freakazoids in masks.
I just want to get away from the noise and also get to some place where it’s warm. It was FREEZING today and the winds were very strong. I’m chilled. I think I’ll head toward a hot bath and bed now.

Goodnight Pumas

86

Zee 10.28.09 at 11:03 pm

#43 goofs, yes. Me, too. The horror of checking my yahoo email because I will see the headlines. Tn Guerilla Women has been great recently in documenting the slow awakening of the media to the horrors of being female in our world. She skipped the gang rape, tho, which is just so brutally demoralizing. Here in Mass, too, not sure if PUMAs caught it, but one lone woman went to the rescue of a woman being raped in the bathroom of MGHospital. Bystanders did nothing, even after the rapist was chased off by the lone brave woman.

My new job is in an old building and when I go across the hall to the bathroom I kick open all the stall doors, peer around corners and open closets before going to pee. Standard female operating procedures, huh?

87

Zee 10.28.09 at 11:04 pm

Night, dances!!! I had hot broth tonight and the wind is high. Stay warm!

88

DancesWithPumas 10.28.09 at 11:05 pm

The rape of teh 15 year old by ten freaks happened in Richmond, CA, same place where the lesbian was raped and beaten by four more freaks.

89

goofsmom 10.28.09 at 11:06 pm

Zee,

86 – the fact that there are bystanders and they do nothing, not call the cops or anything just troubles me so much…

SFOP… I need to find you that pink taser… you have pepper spray?

90

Zee 10.28.09 at 11:07 pm

goofs, neither had I heard of the Sea Goddess…it’s another PUMA’s priestess calling. I was just letting her know, if she’s lurking, that one of the questions I asked was truly answered.

91

DancesWithPumas 10.28.09 at 11:07 pm

Maybe the we need a law where men are allowed out of their homes from 9am until 5pm only.

92

goofsmom 10.28.09 at 11:08 pm

Dances,

#88 – Unbelievable and heartbreaking…

93

Zee 10.28.09 at 11:09 pm

No, goofs, no pepper spray and tasers are illegal here in mass. Someone told me an old-fashioned pepper-like spray women used to carry. If I recall it I will post the recipe.

94

goofsmom 10.28.09 at 11:09 pm

Zee,

#90 – thanks for the explaination… :)

95

Zee 10.28.09 at 11:10 pm

Richmond CA, home of the gang rape?

96

goofsmom 10.28.09 at 11:10 pm

Dances,

#91 – and if they are out after 5PM they must be accompanied by a female member of their family…

97

freddiebrown 10.28.09 at 11:12 pm

It is troubling beyond words – a gang rape with spectators! In America ??!! I have been trying to articulate this thing but words fail me. I am sad at the loss of humanity in these circles.

98

DancesWithPumas 10.28.09 at 11:13 pm

If they are out after 5Pm they must be accompanied by at least 3 adult women. If it’s a member of tehir family, it could be someone theyre abusing… therefore three women.

99

goofsmom 10.28.09 at 11:13 pm

Zee,

#95 – Great reputation for a city to have. The sad thing is… how many incidents happen like this in other cities and never make the news… you know, they get hushed up by the Chambers and city councils, just so their city doesn’t get a bad rep…

Do we really have a clue how large the problem may be… I really doubt it… :(

100

DancesWithPumas 10.28.09 at 11:14 pm

Freddie
Everything in our society supports / encourages teh denigration of women… is it any wonder that 11 and up rape and abuse girls and women?

101

goofsmom 10.28.09 at 11:15 pm

Okay, very good point… 3 women sounds about right… :)

105

goofsmom 10.28.09 at 11:20 pm

Zee,

Suggestion, when I had problems with a stalker about 10 years ago, Goofsdad suggested I go in for basic security guard training… That way you are licensed by the state to carry a variety of items that are not approved for the general public to carry… It took 1 afternoon and I can and do carry CNS gas… much better than pepper spray, used by the military. Can’t carry a concealed weapon but this stuff will put them down.

Might be something you could do… :)

106

goofsmom 10.28.09 at 11:23 pm

Dances,

#102 – agreed but don’t you think that if the true numbers were released to the public in general that there would be more of an uprising to get something done?

107

BillieJo 10.28.09 at 11:28 pm

I admit, last night while picking up a few items at a store, passing the yellow rag magazines, I noticed the ‘Globe’ with Hillary’s photo on front, dropped dead in my tracks when it proclaimed she will step down from the job of SOS next summer due to health concerns.

Now first of all, I certainly don’t trust this trash paper, but wasn’t able to read the article before being checked out, and bought it.

They claim, friends of Hillary are worried about her health, severe headaches, and stress. They ‘think’ she will opt out of the SOS job so she can spend more time with Bill and have less stress.

Of course having my tinfoil hat handy I wondered if this is a rumor to:
1- Push Hillary out of politics because of she has a MUCH higher approval rating than then That One.
2- Maybe Hillary is getting on migrane trying to keep all the balls in the air that the Fraud ignores.
3- Maybe it is a ruse to let Hillary leave him in the dust, fall on his face without her, then turn around and toss her best orange bonnet in the ring.

108

Dances – I think females need a shift in how they see themselves – no more the cookies and creme. But let me share a snippet I heard from my Latino employee – she is very tall and white, white so she’s not the typical dark skinned latino. So she has a lot of friends that are physically abused and she tells me of this very attractive girl (not latino) who has a boyfriend that is muy ugly – like a beaver. He insults and beats her up and she still would not leave. I would inquire about this friend now and then and offer advice and give her hotline numbers. Today I was told this girl left the butt ugly beaver looking guy. Why ? Because he stole $100 from her bank account and she went ballistic and left him. WTF was that all about. Some kind of twisted honor of hers was trampled on ? What about all those black eyes ? What is wrong with this picture ? What is it about women that let guys beat them up. I want to understand. I don’t mean to sound belittling and I am not, but I cannot understand it. I hear a lot of horror stories here but no one explained why ? What is it in their minds that made them seem so inconsequential that another human can strike them and get away with it over and over again.

110

goofsmom 10.28.09 at 11:32 pm

BillieJo,

#107 – I like your theory #3… I’ll be watching for the Orange bonnet… :)

111

goofsmom 10.28.09 at 11:36 pm

freddiebrown,

#109 – the 64K dollar question. Maybe because they have learned from society and family that they are not worthy of better treatment. They think that it’s their fault and they deserved it… a lot of mind games and denigration of character go on before the actual physical abuse occurs, so when it does happen, it’s accepted as their fault.

Don’t know if that helps any but it’s just what I’ve seen and heard.

112

freddiebrown 10.28.09 at 11:36 pm

Goofsmom – good suggestion ! I may look into the security guard thing…I am thinking of taking Jujitsu – too many crazies around. I have a Red belt in Karate :) but was too un-disciplined to go further. Also I hated calling anyone Sir !!

I hope Hillary quits on that idiot! That would make a great impact statement against him.
Anyone who quits for “health reasons” may as well be saying “I hate the
guts of my boss and he can kiss my ass.”

117

freddiebrown 10.28.09 at 11:54 pm

Goofsmom – you’re right in many ways. It starts from the family and how one is brought up. I know my 93 year old mom has never taken no sh*t from no one. I have never seen her afraid or being bullied by the opposite sex. All my sisters are alpha types over their husbands. Mine knows not to push me too far lest he wants to sleep with one eye open…which he confessed he has sometimes when I am mad at him. Good to keep the man worried, I think.

Most would prefer that any expanded involvement exclude them personally:

o 54% would not personally trade in their coverage for a public plan; 38% would.

o 56% disagree and 36% agree that “women like me would be best served by a government‐run healthcare plan.”

o 57% disagree and 34% agree that “a federally‐run healthcare program is what is best for my family and me.”

• 75% want few to no changes to their own healthcare (40% ‐‐ be modified, but mostly left as is; 35% ‐‐ be left as‐is) while 19% want it to undergo dramatic overhaul. For healthcare generally in the United States, a plurality of women (48%) wants slight modifications, 11% hope it is left unchanged, and 35% wish for dramatic changes.

By a margin of 64%‐27% of women would “rather have private health insurance than a government‐run health insurance plan.”
77% of women say government spends money in a mostly inefficient way; 15% think it spends efficiently.

• 55% think that the CBO projection of $829 billion is an underestimation of how much will ultimately be spent on healthcare reform. 17% think the figure is too high and 12% think the guess is about right.

Waters was part of the team that developed General Motors’

EV1 in the 1990s, an electric car that quickly gained a small, devoted following but was eventually scrapped by the company.

“(Obama) is giving money to U.S. companies importing vehicles and not exporting them,” Waters said. “There is a contradiction there in terms of image and messaging.”

Perhaps sensitive to the perception their collaboration is creating, Modec and Navistar are circumspect about where exactly the U.S. government money is going and whether some of the $39 million will go directly into Modec’s coffers.

Navistar’s spokesman Roy Wiley also declined to say when exactly the vehicles would start being produced in the United States.

“I won’t respond to timeline questions,” he said. “We’ll start production when we start production.”

ACORN will soon be allowed to help with bank regulation….unbelievable. The people in washington have slipped off the banks of insanity a long time ago, into the deepest abyss.

House panel makes ACORN eligible to share regulatory authority

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/beltway-confidential/House-panel-makes-ACORN-eligible-to-share-regulatory-authority-66612177.html

Besides giving advice on avoiding taxes and fraudulently getting home loans for brothels featuring 13-year-old Salvadoran girls illegally smuggled into this country, ACORN officials could soon be helping regulate your local bank, thanks to an amendment adopted by Rep. Barney Frank’s House Financial Services Committee.
–snip–

Rep. Spencer Bachus, R-AL, the Ranking Minority Member on the Frank Committee, says there is a whopping potential conflict of interest as a result of the amendment:

“By making representatives of ACORN and other consumer activist organizations eligible to serve on the Oversight Board, the amendment creates a potentially enormous government sanctioned conflict of interest. ACORN-type organizations will have an advisory role on regulating the very financial institutions from which they receive millions of dollars annually in direct corporate contributions and benefit from other financial partnerships and arrangements. These are the same organizations that pressured banks to make subprime mortgage loans and thus bear a major responsibility for the collapse of the housing market.”

Little Hillary tosses out some zingers while keeping her cool. She probably had her pointer finger restrained in her pocket.

——-
Pakistan (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s said on Thursday it was “hard to believe” that no one in Pakistan’s government knew where al Qaeda leaders were hiding, striking a new tone on a trip where Washington’s credibility has come under attack.

Scores of al Qaeda leaders and their operatives, including Osama bin Laden, are believed to be in hiding in the rugged border territory that divides Pakistan and Afghanistan, but both countries routinely accuse the other of being the main sanctuary

“I find it hard to believe that nobody in your government knows where they are and couldn’t get them if they really wanted to,” she told a group of newspaper editors during a meeting in Lahore.

“Maybe they are not ‘get-at-able’. I don’t know,” she said.

Clinton’s pointed remark was the first public gripe on a trip aimed at turning around a U.S.-Pakistan relationship under serious strain, but bound in the struggle against religious extremism.

“I am more than willing to hear every complaint about the United States,” Clinton said, “”but this is a two way street.

“If we are going to have a mature partnership where we work together” then “there are issues that not just the United States but others have with your government and with your military security establishment.”

(Hillary and Bill would show up the Fraud too much, and were too well liked, my read on what this says…)

I’m glad she is more independent as our SOS, we get to see her in action and she has the option to drop out any time and kick his ass in a future election.

Filling Out the Ticket
What surprised me at [our first meeting to discuss the vice presidency] was that Obama was clearly thinking more seriously about picking Hillary Clinton than Ax and I had realized. He said if his central criterion measured who could be the best VP, she had to be included in that list. She was competent, could help in Congress, would have international bona fides and had been through this before, albeit in a different role. He wanted to continue discussing her as we moved forward.

We met again a couple of weeks later in mid-June and winnowed the list down to about 10 names.

At our next meeting, we narrowed the list down to six. Barack continued to be intrigued by Hillary. “I still think Hillary has a lot of what I am looking for in a VP,” he said to us. “Smarts, discipline, steadfastness. I think Bill may be too big a complication. If I picked her, my concern is that there would be more than two of us in the relationship.” (See pictures of the last days of Hillary Clinton’s campaign.)

Neither Ax nor I were fans of the Hillary option. We saw her obvious strengths, but we thought there were too many complications, both pre-election and postelection, should we be so fortunate as to win. Still, we were very careful not to object too forcefully. This needed to be his call.

We had initially received a lot of advice from many of her supporters to pick her, though this “advice” was perhaps more accurately described as subtle pressure. Their fervor was abating a bit every day, though, helped by Hillary’s comments that this was Obama’s decision and that he should be left to make it.

In early August, he narrowed his list down to three names: Senator Joe Biden of Delaware, Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana and Governor Tim Kaine of Virginia. Hillary did not make the last cut. At the end of the day, Obama decided that there were just too many complications outweighing the potential strengths. But I gave him a lot of credit for so seriously thinking about his fierce former rival. Some in the Clinton orbit thought we gave Hillary short shrift. My view is that any serious consideration was somewhat surprising given all the complications and the toxicity during the primary campaign.

Why do we keep referring to SOS Hillary Rodham Clinton as “little” Hillary??

Jeeze Dances, you of all people should know how much I admire Hillary, calling her ‘little Hillary’ was meant with affection!

Wow, all this current focus on HRC by the Obama admin is very intriguing. They know or suspect or fear that she is going to make a move against them. It is coming from all sides via the media (tv, magazine, blog, etc.). Maybe they are trying to blunt any attempt to push her forward. This is not just coincidence that this is happening now.

Agreed. Nothing they do is just a coincidence. It is all planned strategy. They focus more on the next election than the problems at hand.

So far their strategy seems to be implying that Hillary has baggage and therefore is dangerous to support. This is aimed at democrats so they must know they are in big trouble with their party regulars. This is VERY GOOD NEWS.

Hillary has baggage, yea, the Big Dawg is her baggage. Two freakin’ mental powerhouses with respect all over the world.

Obama thought he could buy that kind of respect and slide though his presidency. His hair is turning gray before our own eyes, in less that 200 days, it’s more difficult than he thought it would be.

His claim to fame is his prize and being the first African American president.

Mornin’ PUMAs – just checking in –

Shadow – my comment – one is either just an “American’ or one is not – sick of this hyphenated shit – assimilate into ‘our society and culture’ – if one can’t – then go somewhere else – this was the premise long long long ago – we need to stick to that premise –

BTW – ISLAM sucks & so does the fraud & all of Planet Dude

I hate the media who go along with politicians who plant stories like the one above where an ‘insider’ (sleazy, where is the name?) is just remembering, so it seems like they don’t have an agenda right now. Media everywhere does this and they know why they are being given these stories, but they go along with fooling the reader into thinking there is not a reason for this story being told now. Slime.
