It rained like I have never seen before, all darn day. Still raining and the wind was really bad. The only good thing was it was the first rain of the fall and so the ground was dry and not many trees fell. Lots of car accidents. You get soaked from walking 100 feet, no matter how much rain gear you have on.

I sort of like the streamlined look here, but miss the comfy feeling of the old place. It’s very comforting to see so many familiar friends here. (Could somebody please straighten the pics on the wall though? ) Anyway, I donated the old-fashioned way. I nail smailed my contribution this morning to PUMA PAC, The Voice of the Voters, P.O. Yes, I have been told that… beginning when I was young. I resist most change, expeically those that are too abrupt for me. But, learning new pathways is good for the mind… keeps it agile and helps prevent total intellectual paralysis caused by head trauma if one has developed many pathways to the same goals.

Only hours after President Obama hailed the committee’s passage of the measure as a “critical milestone,” the union groups — which include the AFL-CIO and AFSCME — condemn the plan for lacking a public option and imposing stiff penalties on Americans who choose not get health insurance.

The unions also say employers should be required to pay a higher share of health insurance costs and that health care should not be financed by taxes on the most comprehensive health care policies known as “Cadillac plans.”

“Unless the bill that goes to the floor of the U.S. Senate makes substantial progress to address the concerns of working men and women, we will oppose it,” the ad states.

Can someone please explain to me why the Unions care so much? – have not paid enough attention to their concerns as there is so much to understand – my impression has been that the Unions are well taken care of already -saw an analysis the other day on TV – I thought it was SEIU but hubby thinks it was the auto members who have their health care costs covered 100%, pay no deductibles, etc.. The only other thing at the back of my mind is that the Unions were exempt from some restrictions that the rest of us were constrained by – I need to look into this but any input appreciated. Thanks

I am still burning over Chase who used our tax bailout money to acquire Washington Mutual and others. The CEO was caught on audio announcing that the money would not be used for improving credit but for new acquisitions – improving THEIR bottom line and power base – NOT helping the average Joe and small business with the credit they need.

Went into my branch of ex Washington Mutual/now Chase the other day to discover that they are in the middle of totally reorganizing – walls and doors and refurnishing completely the previously friendly layout of the bank. Why are they allowed to spend our tax dollars to do this – anyone know if Chase has paid any money back?

Wow, persephone. Thanks for posting this. This is a great thing to fax to those congresspeople who are supposed to be looking out for us. I’ll have to go read the whole article, but I imagine other ideas to add would be the fact that they are going to tax us NOW, three years before the benefits start. Look at net profit margin %and you will see that Health Care Plans are way down at 3.3%. Even waste management i(garbage) is higher at 6.4%. Other medical industries (such as hospitals and healthcare facilities) are way higher. I am amazed that The Heath care Plans profits are only 3.3% of revenue – so perhaps there is more than meets the eye?
