Overnight Randomness

Cinie hates everything and everyone, but I like her a lot.

Which reminds me, I wish Persephone would get back home soon, but on the other hand I don’t want her vacation in Paradise to end.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is a pretty damn good book, but I don’t think I’m going to buy the sequel.

Which reminds me, I’m glad the porn and drug spam has slowed to a trickle, for my own mental health as well as DWP’s. If you have a blog, you know what I’m talking about. If not, be glad you don’t have a blog.

If you could know the answer to ONE unknowable question, what would it be? I would want to know what it feels like just before you die.

For less depressing, but still imponderable, questions, click HERE.

And here’s a Happy Song:

1- What ever happened to my other favorite trail shoe?

2- If there is an afterlife (is there?) will I consciously recognize and be able to communicate with friends, family, Jesus, Buddha, Eleanor Roosevelt, Rumi, Van Gogh, Amelia Earhart, Elizabeth I, who have died before me?

Note: Geminis get to ask more than one unknowable questions.
:p

“I would want to know what it feels like just before you die.”–murphy

There are a lot of “near death stories” out there. The white light/ tunnel/ family greetings from the beyond sorts of stories are common.

Sharon Stone had an aneurysm and she said she found that death is only a sliver away from life–very close and nearby. Like right “here,” she said, with the palm of her hand almost touching her nose. (That sort of spooked me-lol.)

I guess it depends on *how* someone dies. Might be peaceful for some and terrifying for others…some may not even know, I guess. My experience was not good.

Here’s this article:
Scientists Reveal What It’s Like To Die
http://is.gd/2U1IP
(Describes how drowning, heart attack, loss of blood, electrocution, fall from a height, hanging, fire, decapitation feels–just wanted to list what’s in article in case anyone wants to avoid knowing something in particular.)

It seems loss of consciousness often occurs beforehand…which is probably…nice? Well, I mean, maybe that’s how death might feel…just like losing consciousness. I’ve lost consciousness before. I didn’t have any memory of actually losing consciousness, so death might just feel like nothing a lot of the time.

murphy, why do you want to know what it would feel like just before dying? Just a random curious thing? I guess everyone wonders what that moment might be like.

kat in your hat 09.16.09 at 1:31 am

He he, Dances. I want to be able to travel the Universe like in my dreams, but for real, so I can see what’s truly out there. I’m heading to bed soon too, long ass day.

ABC’s Gibson: ACORN Scandal a Mystery to Me

Tuesday, September 15, 2009
FOX NEWS

“Is the ACORN scandal worthy of national broadcast news coverage? ABC News anchor Charlie Gibson said he didn’t even know what the scandal was about.”

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,550605,00.html

——

Charlie: The Acorn story was about a prostitute, a pimp, and setting up a brothel with the help of frauds.

Charlie: Just think of ABC, MSNBC, and CBS as the prostitute, the Democratic National Party, Wall Street and Big Business as the pimp, the White House as the Brothel and Obama Team, ACORN and the majority of Congress as the anointed frauds.

And Charlie, don’t let the door to your retirement hit you in the ass… and take the rest of your peers of failed faux news journalists, anchors and producers of bullshit with ya on that loooooong walk off of a short pier.

goodnight.

Two interesting paragraphs on Clyburn plus a comment; also related statements made by Former President Carter and Barney Frank:
…”This is not a partisan stunt,” said [James] Clyburn, whose district in South Carolina adjoins Wilson’s. “I do not participate in partisan stunts, and I think every member here knows that. This is about the proper decorum that should take place on the floor of the United States House of Representatives.”

A leading member of the Congressional Black Caucus, Clyburn perceived it as a snub that Wilson held a town hall meeting on health care this summer at a school in Clyburn’s district — where Clyburn’s children attended — without telling him.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090915/ap_on_go_co/us_health_care_heckling

Partisan? We realize Rep. Clyburn, that it is not partisan. We realize that it is you once again playing the race card. You did it so well last year against, of all people, Bill and Hillary Clinton. Perhaps that card has not lost its effectiveness. Even Jimmy Carter is taking a chance with it. After all, you’re guy has been in trouble for awhile.

Ending this comment on a suprising note, Barney Frank voted ‘present’ saying “I think it’s bad precedent to put us in charge of deciding whether people act like jerks. I don’t have time to monitor everyone’s civility.”

Seems the bipartisanship illusion is falling apart – do we get our single payer/public option back then?

Deb55- Noted on the previous post that Carter is calling everyone that disagrees with Obama a racist to placate his guilt over the fact that Carter’s GGrandfather owned slaves. Carter’s treatment of Hillary Clinton during the last election was so beyond the pale, that it can’t be argued that it was not based on extreme misogyny. So on the bright side all of Carter’s decedents will have to call all people that criticize any woman for anything ’sexist’ until the end of time. My decedents, however, will still never forgive the sexist pig.

This is the new me and I am off to the gym.

Why are the buttons on mens’ shirts on the opposite side to those on ladies’ garments?
*****************************
I pondered this question for a short while when I ecperienced it by wearing my husband’s shirt and it didn’t take me long to figure out that it was so men would not accidently put on a women’s shirt – Ewwww. The guy’s argument that men used to dress themselves and women had dressers does not hold water because men had dressers, as well as women. Even George Washington has a manservant who helped him do everything.

Well, Obama and the dems must be in deep deep trouble with all the screams of racism this morning. I turned on the tv at 7 am and the first story on every channel was about this nonsense. The hosts of the shows looked in pain trying to avoid taking an obvious side on the issue. You know they wanted to agree, but knew that it could prove to be deep doo doo in the future if they did.

Well, yet another hit and run link because I can’t stay online today….

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/religion/6194354/Mohammed-is-most-popular-name-for-baby-boys-in-London.html

Mohammed the most popular newborn boy’s name in London…twice as popular as the next most popular name, Daniel.

In Brussels, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Oslo the name has already gained the top slot.

In Great Britain….from its July to September 2008 Labour Force Survey shows the Muslim population is growing 10 times faster than the rest of the population.

All I can say is these “enlightened” nations had better start following in France’s wise footsteps and FAST. Ban sharia law, ban draping women, etc.

And when their naturalized children start entering politics? Well, I hope these countries already elect a lot of women and have them in place.
After all, Western decadence will seduce a lot of their offspring away from their medieval mindset. I’ve always thought decadence was our best weapon.

25

murphy 09.16.09 at 9:12 am

HP, you are TOO funny!

agreed — no immortality for the scuzzball who killed Annie Le.

26

Zee 09.16.09 at 9:14 am

Just to clarify I was not equating women politicians with decadence. I was saying that having a lot of women in office would offset whichever Islamic zealots made it into politics after the decadence had weaned some of these offspring away from the medieval Islamic mindset.

27

Zee 09.16.09 at 9:15 am

Oh! Fine! I will cart my comments upstairs! ;)

LOL!
If he doesn’t know what the scandal is about perhaps he should reserve judgement about national news coverage. Does Charlie have a long term memory problem? He doesnt recall a pattern of corruption regarding ACORN??

NO IMMORTALITY FOR YOU, CHARLIE!!!!!
