So Glenn Beck decides to go for the jugular against the obama administration, calling the president himself a racist and predicting a doomsday of communist fascism for America because of the collectivist socialist agenda of the obama administration.

Next, a group called Color of Change organizes an effort in response to Beck’s ranting and raving to dissuade companies from advertising on Beck’s show. This letter-writing and phone-calling campaign is somewhat successful. Several companies, though they continue to advertise on Fox, pull their ads from Beck’s particular show.

Glenn Beck says, “This is war!” and uses his cable TV pulpit to go after Color of Change and dig up as much dirt as possible on the group. What do they soon dig up? Why Van Jones of course — co-founder and inactive member of Color of Change. This guy claimed sympathy with Marxist and communist groups early in his career and is an unabashed racial activist. He also, to his everlasting regret I’m sure, once signed a petition calling for an investigation into whether 9/11 might have been an inside job. AND, he just so happens to have have had a pretty influential job in the obama administration. Pay Dirt for Glenn Beck!

But the story doesn’t end there. Now Keith Olbermann, mighty liberal warrior for the forces of truth and justice loudmouth white dudes, enters the fray! He’s calling on HIS audience to dig up as much dirt as possible about Glenn Beck.

Oy vey.

I would call Beck and Olbermann and their ilk a bunch of screaming Spider Monkeys flinging shit at each other. But that would be an insult to Spider Monkeys.

This isn’t our battle Pumas. Let’s not be drawn into semantic and volatile arguments about the relative harm of the n-word versus the b-word. That’s juvenile and is guaranteed to lead to angry arguments rather than insightful debates. This argument is NOT about truth, justice, or the American Way. It’s about Glenn Beck and Keith Olbermann and their RATINGS. It’s about who gets how much money and influence. That they are willing to pick up poop and throw it at each other in order to get the money and the fame says something pretty sad about them — but it doesn’t have to say anything about us.

Let’s leave the shit throwing to these monkeys clowns:

I don’t agree that the term “whitey” is interchangable with “nigger”, except that they are both racist terms. The difference is one group has the power to oppress, while the other doesn’t

This argument is NOT about truth, justice, or the American Way.
===================
Starting with the Superman series, it’s always been stated that way:
Truth, Justice and the American way. Two separate and distinct, often opposing, entities.

Note: It’s an islands in the stream kinda morning for me.

Mama
I was focused on the US. Otherwise, I’d say people of color make up the majority of oppressors.
Oppression of women is global, no matter what race the pricks are.

Again, part of the reason “race” is no longer an issue I devote much, if any, energy to… especially not of I have more improtant things to devote my time to… sorting sox, picking at mosquito bite scabs, etc.

When people, including and maybe especially, people of color devote time and energy arguing against sexism and misogyny, that’s when I’ll think about race issues, maybe. I’ll probably be long dead and gone before that happens though.

and…black people are not the only poor or oppressed, either. These racial divisions are just playing the race card for political power.Van Jones, good riddance! I don’t buy that he was just a crazy radical 20 years ago because there are so many examples of his statements on YouTube from the very recent past-I just consider them too disgusting to post here! I agree with Murphy in that respect-he’s not worth talking about anymore. He’s gone. Next!

Next! being the key word here.

The O administration is already appointing more “czars,” next up, manufacturing.

It’s like getting a job without having to do a job interview.
No Senate hearings, no vetting. The guy they are looking at holds another czar-ship (does he get paid double?) and has a history of cutting lucrative deals for Unions at the expense of the taxpayers.

If Valerie Jarret likes you, you’re in.

But lets all fight about political party affiliation and let them continue on their path to destroy America.

WITCH HUNT CZAR?

Olbermann wants dirt on Beck, Ailes

With Glenn Beck getting credit for Van Jones resigning, Keith Olbermann is now asking Daily Kos readers to find out anything they can about the Fox host and others associated with him.

Tuesday we will expand this to the television audience and have a dedicated email address to accept leads, tips, contacts, on Beck, his radio producer [Stu] Burguiere, and the chief of his tv enablers, [Roger] Ailes (even though Ailes’ power was desperately undercut when he failed to pull off his phony “truce” push).

Olbermann said this action will help “save this nation from the Oligarhy of The Stupid.” Since going up yesterday, Olbermann’s diary entry had over 1,400 responses by this morning.

GOP Congressman: Glenn Beck Is “Trading on Fear”

The confrontation between Rep. Bob Inglis (R-S.C.) and some conservative constituents has been getting a lot of play today — Inglis told people to stop watching Glenn Beck, and he got loudly booed. The video Jonathan Martin found adds some compelling context, as Inglis explains to the crowd that Beck is making them fearful.

Inglis: They suggest that you watch Glenn Beck. Here’s my suggestion. Turn that television off when he comes on. Let me tell you why. You want to know why? He’s trading on fear. You know what? Here’s what I think. If you trade on fear, what you’re doing is, you’re not leading. You’re just following fearful people. So if you want to lead, stop being fearful.

Venezuela’s Chavez drops in on Venice film festival

VENICE, Italy (AFP) – Hugo Chavez stole the show at the Venice film festival Monday as he paid a surprise visit for the screening of veteran US director Oliver Stone’s documentary on the Venezuelan president.

The Oscar-winning director tells the story of Venezuela’s “peaceful revolution” since Chavez came to power in 1998, and how Venezuela’s transformation has had knock-on effects in the rest of the continent.

Chavez minister vows more Venezuela radio closings
* Radio stations to be pulled after 34 closed in August
* Critics say hits free speech, government says democratic
* Anti-Chavez TV network in the spotlight over coup rumor

Infrastructure Minister Diosdado Cabello closed 34 radio stations in July, saying the government was “democratizing” media ownership. Critics say the move limits freedom of expression and has taken critical voices off the airwaves.

The powerful Chavez ally has threatened to close over 100 stations in total, part of a long-term campaign against private media that the government says are biased against Chavez’s government.

The best way to watch OverbeingaMan or Beck is with the sound off.
Keith looks like a rabid dog in glasses and Beck, with his tinfoil hat and facial expressions is like a crazy little lost boy from Peter Pan.

Beck does bring out some important issues that others allow to be covered up, I would give him kudos for that but I don’t think his overall assessment is accurate and is more on the edge of hysteria.

They are both ‘entertainers’ of the political strain.

Notice how he released the speech on a holiday, one day before, this will cause caos at the schools, how are they going to know who signed off on permission and who didn’t. Reporting from Khartoum, Sudan, and Nairobi, Kenya – A Sudanese woman was convicted today of public indecency for wearing pants at an outdoor cafe and jailed for one month when she refused to pay a fine.

The case has stirred international outrage and spawned protests in Sudan over the Islamic-dominated government’s treatment of women.

Lubna Hussein, a journalist and former U.N. staffer based in Khartoum, the capital, could have received 40 lashes with a plastic whip under Sudan’s criminal code, which is based largely on Islamic Sharia law.

Instead, a judge ordered Hussein — who stood before the court in the same pair of pants that she wore when arrested — to pay a $200 fine. Hussein said she would refuse to pay, and was taken to a women’s prison to serve a one-month sentence.

I would have paid one of the fines for one of the other ten women who WERE flogged ….

My take is that, if this school speech is a raving success (and what kid doesn’t want to help the President of the United States), he will go on to preach … I mean speech to the other kids. We all know that Odrama and his marketing machine is shoring up young minds for their own agenda but packaging it as a care package for the parents. What parent can rightly refuse to let their kids be influenced by THE PRESIDENT of the United States when he is asking them for help. The ones that see through him know better and we better say something before we wonder one fine day, what happened to our kids who got brain washed by the slick machine. It would be too late. Case in point, Sharia law anyone? It was harmless to begin with, dontcha know.

66

kat in your hat 09.07.09 at 4:03 pm

@ #59
“…with the state our schools are in, just exactly how many students actually comprehend at a 10th grade level?”

True, and it’s equally the parents responsibility to teach their kids. (Harder for non-english speaking parents or uneducated parents or dysfunctional house or latchkey life.) But that’s just one aspect I liked of O’s speech, how he puts responsibility on the parents to teach and take care of their darn kids! lol. Most parents just stick their kids in school and think that’s all there is to “education.” Parents should be teaching their children lessons and taking them on educational day trips, etc. Kid could go to a hotel if all she/ he needs is a bed, cable TV and room service.

That’s why he told that story about his mom teaching him in the mornings before school (lie or not)–it’s so the parents listen up. Schools always get blamed, but school plus outside education and the kid should be ahead of the class. No more lazy & neglectful teachers and parents. Society has to deal with these young people so it would be nice if schools and parents stopped pumping out losers and criminals.

Readin’ over at Cinie’s (a place I go when I especially need a humorist pick-me-up and a new perspective…thank you very much Cinie)

and one of her paragraphs played heavy on my brain, again…..

…Needless to say, this sort of leadership-while-blindfolded is not very effective, and, contrary to manufactured public opinion and contrived conventional wisdom, had nothing to do with his successful election. Let’s face it, in any other year, had he been pitted against a male candidate as formidable as Hillary Clinton in the primaries, or, had the outgoing president been only slightly more popular than a rash, or, had the Republicans not deliberately nominated their weakest candidate, and then refused to support him, or turn out and vote for him, Barack Obama would have had trouble qualifying as an also-ran, and instead of being Bah!Rock Whosayin’ YoMama, would just have been Bah!Rock Who?

http://cinie.wordpress.com/2009/09/06/leading-the-follower/

My question for the past year has been this:

- Why did the Republican’s elect their weakest candidate

- And then, refuse to support him?

Did they want Baracko to win?

68

waterpanther 09.07.09 at 4:08 pm

More than 100 female protesters rallied to her [Lubna Hussein's]defense at the courthouse, some dressed in pants, shouting slogans such as “There is no justice in Sudan!” Police arrested more than three dozen protesters and released them after the verdict was announced.

Lubna and her supporters have fist-size brass ovaries.

Good on ya, sister! as Molly Ivins would say. That is leadership.

69

BillieJo 09.07.09 at 4:10 pm

BTW, I agree that McCain was their weakest candidate not because McCain was a weak man, but because he did not represent the right wing of the Rep party, he is more of a centralist conservative and Sarah was put in to swoop up the disenfranchised Hillary supporters and play to the religious right.
Maybe they actually thought the libs were running two centralists and they put in their one semi-centralist because they thought the country was headed in that direction ???????????

70

Cinie 09.07.09 at 4:16 pm

Thanks, BillieJo. I call McCain “weakest” because he never had the support of their base. Why they did it is the $64,000 question.

BTW, I don’t know if this has been discussed, but I found this post over on Allegre’s to be pretty interesting.

Know most here think the BC is BS… but I am starting to have questions.

Why are we doing a speech on Sept 8…oh yes, we have a court date in Federal Court in Santa Ana Ca… before Judge David O Carter (Dem, Clinton appt/Military Marine) for discovery on “O” at 8:00 Sept 8.

And Hillary and other have been called to give depo’s.

If their is nothing to all of this then Why are they still fighting this…show the bc.

This is the case brought by Keyes and over 200 military, and the judge says it has Merit.

Found where the Gov’t just filed for dismissal again.

Under intro..the courts do not have the right to investiage his status…ONLY THE ELECTROL COLLEGE (DNC) AND THE CONGRESS HAVE EXCLUSIVE JURISDICTION OF SUCH POLITICAL DISPUTES…we the people have no say…the 305 million decided by voting for him?

Read the count filing and see what you think? If intrested.
I think they are trying hard to hide something.

Gov’t to dismiss…

You may find this article worth the read..written in 2004 about Soros..who picked “O”.

“It is possible that Soros could use his wealth and power to speculate against the dollar in order to destablize the US economy in weeks before the presidental election”

What happen in Sept…McCain ahead..market crashed..billions left the market in 2 hours.

Is Baracko above the law, Hell no! Is he treated like he is above the law, Hell yes.

76

MamaPuma 09.07.09 at 5:06 pm

As far as I am concerned everyone is missing the point with Glen Beck. Hate him, love him, ridicule him, agree with him – whatever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He successfully pierced the veil that the main stream media has draped over the Obama administration and forced them to address an issue that they have successfully squelched in the past. This is a very significant victory for a the hope that the media will beging with little baby steps to break out of the lockstep thay have been in. Chanting Obama’s praises is a terrifying thing for a democracy.

In my view Van Jones was a dangerous racist spew hate. You may have a different view. The point is that my view, for the first time, has one media outlet shouting it out. Everyone else’s view have been published and celebrated by everyone else. When that happens democracy is crushed.

BillieJo 09.07.09 at 5:24 pm

Deb55, I’m not sure if Soros or if a group of Soros type money thugs caused the stock-market crash just before the election or not, but it seemed too coincidental to me that all of a sudden, money was pulled out of the stock-market and went where, making a man that decided to go back to campaigning look like some economic hero. I can only look back, saying WTF, has everyone in my country lost their marbles? The country and our economic policy stinks and Baracko is only a teleprompting spritz of Febreze puppet.

More food for thought….why did the left oppose the war
———-
I’m not sure about the extent of Soros with his dirty fingers in the economic pie and manipulating the election, but why did the left oppose the war? Because there shouldn’t have been a WAR, we are against Bin Laden bringing down the Twin Towers, not starting a war with Sadam and his thugs. Starting a war with two countries when Bin Laden is hiding out in the border of Pakistan isn’t okay with me.
We have been wasting our money on two wars that we shouldn’t be in.

then it’s a known fact he can do the same here
and all for the glory of his needs
his hands are in too many dirty pots
but there are many who deal with him
and they are all thinking they will gain
from his capital
meanwhile michael moore puts a documentary out about how bad capitalism is and then quinto farentino puts out a documentary
and chavez shows up at the documentary about him
and he’s greeted with choruses of all hail we love you so
i see already who is gonna get the oscars this year
and you and i will have paid for it
that is if you buy into it all

Here is Soros…back in 1998 when even the New York Times, did real reporting.

http://www.sorostrading.com/art_obrien.html

Agree, never should have been a war..but my point was he used and inflamed the war to make money off of the back of the war…like playing good cop/bad cop…who did it benefit..Soros.

“Never let a good crisis go to waste”..heard those words before.

Dances,

#85 – thanks for posting the link to Cinie’s article. Enjoyed it and am looking for one of the nuclear fallout protecting desks too… :)

88

DancesWithPumas 09.07.09 at 7:07 pm

Impossible to hide under our desks… we lined the windowless hallways and sat for what seemed like hours anticipating being vaporize in a nuclear attack.
They should have just handed out paper plates for us to wear on our heads, same degree of protection.

89

goofsmom 09.07.09 at 7:13 pm

Dances,

LOL… I lived near a former SAC AB and when we had drills, it was for the whole town… Air sirens went off, the whole town participated in the drill.

Trust me, we knew even in the first grade that, the desk above us wasn’t going to be a bit of good. I would have preferred the paper plate… :)

90

DancesWithPumas 09.07.09 at 7:27 pm

Exactly. They could have handed out the plates, tossed us a few crayons, and let us color them at least, instead of making us sit on the floor of that ancient public school building contemplating what it was going to feel like getting obliterated and never seeing Mommy and Daddy again. Anxious much?

91

DancesWithPumas 09.07.09 at 7:30 pm

And at night, the city would blare air raid sirens and we either had to turn off all the lights or pull down our window shades. My brother and I used to peek… and watch the searchlights scan the night sky. We wanted to make sure our family would be forewarned and that the searchers didnt miss anything.

92

DancesWithPumas 09.07.09 at 7:33 pm

Meanwhile, the actual attacks came minutes after my radio alarm went off… broad daylight, without any warning (least not that we citizens had available to us),and for all our high tech military might… well, you know the rest.

93

goofsmom 09.07.09 at 7:47 pm

Dances,

We never had the night alerts… thank goodness.

Yes, you are right… broad daylight and no warning… 8 years have passed since then. Honestly, I don’t feel the least bit safer either. Anxious much… yep, still am..

94

waterpanther 09.07.09 at 8:26 pm

And then there was the Cuban missile crisis. School let out early. No one would say it, but we all knew the local AFB was a target, and we’d been sent home to die with our parents.

95

DancesWithPumas 09.07.09 at 8:37 pm

I was at summer camp during the Cuban Missile Crisis… no access to daily mainstream news… just that I recall the counselors whispering and looking very grave.

One sunny quiet afternoon while I was in one of the large lounges, a jet broke the sound barrier… I’d never heard that sound before and thought for sure it was a bomb. I remember taking only one leap and sliding under furniture some 25 feet away. I must have been in shock, because I don’t know how many other leaps were involved in getting me get me that far away.

Sorta like when I was 3 and stuck a bobby pin in an electric outlet and becoming aware 3 feet away from where I started.

96

FLBarbara 09.07.09 at 8:41 pm

I actually have my grade school desk. My school sold them and my parents bought both my sisters and mine.
I also have my wooden chair with the desk attached to the arm and a cubby underneath.
I just went down the basement and sat at my desk.. What memories LOL

97

FLBarbara 09.07.09 at 8:49 pm

OMG Dances I stuck a bobbie pin in an electrical outlet too. Shocked the shit out of me. To this day I am very afraid of electricity.. I won’t even change a light bulb. LOL

I am still always amazed at these serial killers…lasting for many years preying on anonymous sorts of girls and women. There are so many killers who only go after street prostitutes, drug addicts, homeless/ runaway/ throwaway sorts. So awful and sad. I’m glad he was caught- those detectives did a good job.

107

goofsmom 09.07.09 at 9:51 pm

Kat,

The detectives did a wonderful job… the article I read on it also said they had another 20 cold cases they had been doing DNA testing on and had tied some of them to individuals that were already in prison for similar crimes.

I think it is great that as DNA testing improves more and more of these killers get hit with the Karma from all their past crimes…

108

kat in your hat 09.07.09 at 10:05 pm

Really goofsmom? 20 cold cases. Wow. DNA testing is amazing. People just cannot get away with anything anymore…not forever. I like to watch Forensic Files and I am into this sort of thing.

I just tried looking up another article on it, and then I spotted something odd. Ed Gein and Jeffrey Dahmer were from Wisconsin too. creepy coincidence.

clintondemocrat 09.08.09 at 12:56 am

Good evening PUMAs… I’ve continued to read comments on here…Thank You all very very very much…

Here is the shocker. Here is the thing I’m so disgusted by… The thing I cannot believe, perhaps you all do…

I’ve been accused of being the instigator and perpetrator. I instigated by raising my voice and perpetrated by saying “What else do you have to say to me Dan (insert last name)” I perpetuated it with my body language and I was told that I shoudl have taken steps to diffuse it.

This was told to me by both of the women who were in the room.

Perhaps you all were right from the beginning and have been right all along that you can’t reform the Democratic Party and you can’t save it and there is no voice left, there is no space for the voice left for the people who were silenced last year…

What else was I supposed to do? Sit there? NO! Walk out? No! Say, can’t we all just get along? (that one has been used with me tonight by people who were there) NO! I did the only thing I could do. I shut up. I shut up and I stood up and I stared at that man who accosted me with every vulgar thing he could think of…

The reality is: if I were 150 pounds instead of 250 pounds, it wouldn’t have been my fault. If I were blonde, it probably wouldn’t have been my fault. If I’d FUCKING CAMPAIGNED FOR OBAMA, it wouldn’t have been my fault. If I’d diffused it so that it wouldn’t have been put on display to make those women see hear and feel, then it wouldn’t have been my fault…. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK

116

goofsmom 09.08.09 at 1:02 am

swannie,

That list of Czar’s is going to give me nightmares… Ackkkkk… Okay then you take each appointed non-congressionally approved Czar and pay them $175,000 dollars a year… and then each Czar gets to have 10 employee’s who probably make way more than minimum wage…

And it adds up to a huge pile of bullsh*t.

The only way it wouldn’t have been your fault is if you were a man… because that idiot a**hole wouldn’t have accosted you in the first place.

The reason you were picked on was because you did not go along with the mindset of the gang. Pure and simple. Obots only want to believe that they are defending the person THEY voted for, that he is still the saint they thought he was and that’s it.

If you want to try and hang out with them to do what ever it is you tried to do, you either have to fight with them, walk away from them, or take their stupid abuse.

To me, they are not worth the time it would take for me to insult them, they can wallow in their deception that everything is great, but YOU have to make the choice as to if this is something you want to tolerate or a group of stupid obots that you stay away from.

Why do you need them to welcome you into the group? You can still be a Democrat and not be with them…there are millions of us in the same boat.

clintondem…I haven’t caught up on the thread yet, but I read your comments the other day, and you are dead on right about the difference in being 150 or 250.

I perform, and when I made it onto a national competitive team, the very first thing I did (indeed, even to make it on the team) was go on a radical diet because I was competing against younger, thinner women.

I ended up fitting into cocktail dresses I had in my 20′s…but at some cost.

But that is what it took. I did it once to prove it, and now that I am struggling to “fit” myself into a new industry at age 50, I am on the verge of doing it all over again.

But I will tell you…had those young brats said what you reported in my presence, they would’ve had an earful. Your colleagues’ silence was inexcusable.

123

Zee 09.08.09 at 1:30 am

One more note…in the grocery store today I saw the cutest couple…plump, and shopping in the ice cream aisle, debating the merits of the different ice creams.

They ended up behind me in the checkout line, and I saw they had not made a definitive choice….each got their own half gallon! Haha! Heartwarming, or what?

BillieJo,
I don’t know… Why do I need them. I think I feel I’ve put so much of myself into this party into the things I feel passionate about and I hate I hate I hate being run off.

I resigned last year but I was always sort of in sight… There is the fighter in me that god damn it, I don’t I refuse to be run off. There is the other part of me, LOL, the logical part of me that is like, fuck this is E. Tennessee and no one who is serious in politics, no one who really and I mean really is at the table doing the stuff is in the county party…

I guess I thought I guess I believed that if they just got to know me, if we could just work together I could bridge or forge something with the Obamites. I believed that we could forge ahead as DEMOCRATS. But they aren’t Democrats. They’re Obamites. I can’t STAND those fucking healthcare calls they’re doing because it’s ALL about making Obama look good. it isn’t about policy or about people who need care, ITS ABOUT OBAMA.

FUCKING OFA!!! God damn it to hell, I’ve yet to understand why OFA exists. It exists as the body of the DNC. There is no Democratic Party anymore. Part of me wants to be there to hold on to the corner of Democrat land to make a stand, a last stand to hold on to our party that was our party for the people

Im sick of the koolaide comments every day. “Republicans are doing these tactics because they hate Obama, personally and they’re racist” “It’s different because it’s Obama”

It’s not fucking different because it’s Obama. I had to get past smouldering John Kerry signs that had been stolen, gasoline poured them and set on fire to get into our headquarters one morning in 2004.

Im tired of the belittling of my experience because it’s Pre-Obama. In 2004, I was almost irrelevant because I was “new” in 2009, I’m irrelevant because I’m “old” and I’ve never fit anywhere except on the GOD DAMNED sidewalk fucking doing fieldwork for candidates… DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t know why, right now…. I’ve never tried harder in my life to forge relationships on common ground only to find that apparently there is no common ground because it’s about Obama and not party

#108 Winsconsin!!!!

grrrr. I used to like Wisconsin. But just as I blamed NH most of all for electing Bush, I blame Wisconsin most of all for the Zerobama primary victory.

There always is a turning point, or a segment of the population who should’ve known better. In 2000, that was NH. In 2008, Wisconsin.

y’all know what else. Damn him and his damn speech in a few hours. I read that piece of political pandering crap today. It’s a campaign speech to go with the consumate campaigner who doesn’t have a freaking clue how to govern. I wouldn’t have wanted to watch W speak because his would have likely been something about staying in school to keep the terrorists out and this one, Obama goes on about growing up in Indonesia and no father and blah blah blah… it’s a GD piece of political propoganda and if I had a child, I would NOT let them go to school tomorrow and I would watch it first and then decide if I would watch PARTS of it with them…. there is one paragraph about personal responsibility

Let us NOT forget, the damn speech is made from freaking Virginia, home of the 2009 Gubernatoral (aka Referendum on Obama) Race.

It makes me freaking P U K E

Mercury’s retrograde?
I just spent two hours talking with a close friend from childhood… Haven’t hear from her in 12 years or so. We also pick up as if we spoke just the other day. I think we’re astral sisters ( as opposed to soul mates)

here’s one for sell Obamacare week:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/09/08/what_obama_says_vs_what_he_does.html

excerpt:

One plain fact should outweigh all the words of Barack Obama and all the impressive trappings of the setting in which he says them: He tried to rush Congress into passing a massive government takeover of the nation’s medical care before the August recess– for a program that would not take effect until 2013!

Whatever President Obama is, he is not stupid. If the urgency to pass the medical care legislation was to deal with a problem immediately, then why postpone the date when the legislation goes into effect for years– more specifically, until the year after the next Presidential election?

If this is such an urgently needed program, why wait for years to put it into effect? And if the public is going to benefit from this, why not let them experience those benefits before the next Presidential election?

If it is not urgent that the legislation goes into effect immediately, then why don’t we have time to go through the normal process of holding Congressional hearings on the pros and cons, accompanied by public discussions of its innumerable provisions? What sense does it make to “hurry up and wait” on something that is literally a matter of life and death?

If we do not believe that the President is stupid, then what do we believe? The only reasonable alternative seems to be that he wanted to get this massive government takeover of medical care passed into law before the public understood what was in it.

Moreover, he wanted to get re-elected in 2012 before the public experienced what its actual consequences would be.
