The Blue Dog democrats in Congress have struck a deal to allow HR 3200 to advance in the House:
“WASHINGTON, July 29 (Reuters) – Democratic leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives have reached a deal with a group of fiscal conservatives in their own party on how to move forward with healthcare legislation, a leading lawmaker said on Tuesday.
Representative Mike Ross, who leads the so-called “Blue Dog” conservative coalition, said they had reached a deal with leadership after days of long negotiations.
CNN said that under the agreement, a healthcare bill would be moved to committee by Friday but that the full House would not take the issue up until September after it returns from its month-long break.

Apparently the full vote is still not expected until September. This is good news. Can we get REAL HEALTH CARE REFORM on the table before then?
We’re reading HR 3200 right HERE and it’s a stinking MESS! For comparison’s sake, do yourself a favor and check out HR 676, a bill with 85 co-sponsors so far, which would immediately make honest-to-goodness health care available to every citizen in the simplest, most fair, and universal way. It should take you no longer than 8 minutes to read this lovely, lovely bill. If you can’t click, I make it easy for you by providing the first paragraph:
- All individuals residing in the United States (including any territory of the United States) are covered under the USNHI Program entitling them to a universal, best quality standard of care. Each such individual shall receive a card with a unique number in the mail. An individual’s social security number shall not be used for purposes of registration under this section.
- (b) Registration- Individuals and families shall receive a United States National Health Insurance Card in the mail, after filling out a United States National Health Insurance application form at a health care provider. Such application form shall be no more than 2 pages long.
- (c) Presumption- Individuals who present themselves for covered services from a participating provider shall be presumed to be eligible for benefits under this Act, but shall complete an application for benefits in order to receive a United States National Health Insurance Card and have payment made for such benefits.
(Yes, I would advocate to limit coverage to legal citizens.)
The mechanism for funding this “Equal Health Care for ALL Americans” is easily read and understood in the text of the bill.
How come we can’t have HR 676??

Don’t be confused: HR 3200 is a swindle and a giveaway to the for-profit players in health care. We do NOT need a bad bill. We would be MUCH better off with nothing than with something that makes a mess of everything and breaks the national bank just so obama and emmanuel can cross something big off their To-Do List before the midterm elections. HR 3200 is a piece of junk.
Call and email your congressional reps HERE and tell them: If it’s broken, don’t break it even more!
UPDATE: Please watch the following. You’ll know a LOT more when you’re done. William McGuire, the CEO of United Health (the largest for-profit insurer in the USA) earned an average of $125,000,000 (125 million dollars) a year during his tenure. He also received stock options worth $1.6 BILLION dollars. During that time, one million Americans a year who HAD HEALTH INSURANCE, were forced into bankruptcy and off the insurance rolls due to illness and staggering medical bills. Millions of Americans kicked off insurance rolls and left to be ill or die destitute (yes, tens of thousands of them died and continue to die every day) after PAYING for insurance coverage for YEARS, so that William McGuire and his top management team could squeeze billions of dollars in profit out of an evil company for their very own private overseas bank accounts. Evil. Despicable.
