You may not have known this, but there are currently NINETEEN WOMEN CONGRESSIONAL REPS who co-sponsored a bill to honor Arnold Palmer, the golf legend, for being very good at golf (and, for apparently being a very nice guy. Wow, huh?).
These same NINETEEN WOMEN — women who not only wouldn’t have been allowed to hold the jobs they now hold, representing their constituent Americans, they wouldn’t have even been allowed to VOTE for someone to represent them without the efforts of Alice Paul and her sister Suffragists — these same NINETEEN WOMEN have so far refused to co-sponsor an utterly non-controversial, non-partisan, FREE bill to award Alice Paul a Congressional Gold Medal. Without enough co-sponsors to bring the bill to a floor vote, this bill will die.
For absolutely no good reason, and lots of bad reasons.
Nineteen women who signed up to sponsor a bill in honor of a golf player but so far will NOT honor the woman who gave them their jobs.
Unbelievable.
Speaking of The Nineteen, if you’re intrigued by connections, it occurred to me while writing this post that not only is the Nineteenth Amendment the one that gave women the right to vote (because of Alice Paul), it is ALSO a term of art in golf — meaning “after the 18th hole,” or the reward at the end of a round of play. If you make an image search for “19th Hole” you get LOTS of pictures of semi-nude women servicing men with drinks and other pleasures. Weird, huh?
* * * * * TODAY’S PROWL * * * * *
Contact The Nineteen in every way you can. Call, fax, email, and mail THIS NOTECARD or THIS POSTCARD to their offices. AND use Rancho’s letter below to fax/email to The Nineteen.
If your own rep is on this list, raise HOLY HELL with their office. How dare a woman rep go out of her way to honor a golfer at the same time she REFUSES to honor the woman who made it LEGAL for her to hold the sacred job she has!?
I am posting this letter, an EXCELLENT one by Rancho, to use in your emails and faxes. It really cuts to the heart of the matter. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for The Nineteen. Also, after the letter, I’m posting the full addresses and contact info for The Nineteen. In future I’ll simply link to this post for people to get the contact info.
Thank you VERY much to Rancho and PumaBear, MK, gojoy, and others who have worked tirelessly on this effort.
SAMPLE LETTER:
The Honorable _____________
It has recently been brought to my attention that you co-sponsored H.R. 1243, which would provide for the award of a gold medal on behalf of Congress to Arnold Palmer in recognition of his service to the Nation in promoting excellence and good sportsmanship in golf.
Records indicate, however, that you are one of 39 women in the House of Representatives who have not yet signed on to co-sponsor H.R. 406, which would award a Congressional Gold Medal in recognition of Alice Paul’s role in the women’s suffrage movement and in advancing rights for women.
Alice Paul dedicated her life to securing suffrage and equal rights for ALL women, and was instrumental in the passage of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution. It is because of her, and others who fought with her, that YOU are able to vote, as well as be a representative in your state.
As cited in the Congressional findings, (Sec. 2, #12) Few people have played a greater role in shaping the history of the United States than Alice Paul.
As a member of Puma PAC, People United Means Action (http://pumapac.org) I implore you to join your “sisters” in the House who have already supported this important bill, and make it a unanimous bipartisan representation of ALL WOMEN!
Please contact Jenny.Sarabia@mail.house.gov today to co-sponsor H.R. 406!
Sincerely,
Your Name
Puma PAC Member

Following are the 19 WOMEN Co-Sponsors of H.R. 1243-Arnold Palmer/golf but NOT H.R. 406-Alice Paul/suffragette Congressional Medal bills. Send them a postcard, letter, and Fax. To email them, simply click HERE and click on their state. It’s easy, fun, free, and VERY GOOD for venting frustration at the utter madness of it all.

First on? Snail Mail donation coming.
For everyone’s information, I have found that email’s to Reps. don’t work for me because the site asks for my zip code, and kicks my email back because I’m not a constituent. (Learned that with NUMEROUS emails to Pelosi).
Also, I was told that post cards to DC are better than letters, because letters can be held for up to two weeks for inspection . . ANTHRAX and such.
Fax and phone calls the best, but costly!

MURPHY OMG. . I JUST SAW THIS!
——————————
Murphy # 27 Previous thread . . . Because Rancho REALLY needs another attack on her superhuman sanguinity, from the WSJ Political Diary (sorry, no link):
“Will the House Hold Its Nose and Honor the King of Pop?
Michael Jackson led a controversial life, but it’s the good things that Reps. Diane Watson and Sheila Jackson Lee choose to remember as they cosponsor a House bill to honor the late pop singer as a “global humanitarian and a noted leader in the fight against worldwide hunger and medical crises.”
Is this for real? Where did you see/read this?
(sanguinity . . . another word I had to look up! Do you talk like this “at home”
)

Oops, I posted this on the other thread, so will repost it here than get busy contacting my Rep who is cosponsoring this AP bill. To be fair to her, she just got to Congress after a protracted recount of the vote in Ohio that finally gave her the seat.

They did not mention the actual name of the bill once. Just it would allow free biological medicines and that Waxman was sponsoring. At the end it said call toll free using a number given to let your representative know you support the Waxman Bill. I had to call and got put on hold while it was looked into. The woman on the phone was very polite, but there is no way you’d listen to the message and not believe the Waxman bill was about generic drugs. Duplicitous. And cruel to mislead the elderly in such a fashion
**********************************
I got two of these messages today which I didn’t really listen to because they are trying to increase our city income taxes and I’ve also gotten messages about that too. My messages from AARP about generic biological drugs talked about a bill sponsored by Sherrod Brown (One of my Senators) and Chuck Schumer and they called the bill the Brown/Schumer bill. No mention was made of Waxman at all. Is Waxman a Rep from the state of those who got the call about the Waxman bill. They are not telling everyone to call and support the Waxman bill.

Big Cat Lover
they did not mention Schumer or Brown in the call I got. They did mention Waxman and generic biological drugs and ended with call your reps and tell them you support Waxman bill. I called the number on my caller ID and was given the number of the PA AARP. I am in PA so neither is my Senator, but the call I got was very misleading. Why would they even mention his name. They were very polite and she told me she would forward my concern to the supervisor.

From Lt. Dan Choi via Courage Campaign
[I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the [424,343 signatures of support that Courage Campaign members have collected on my behalf, calling on President Barack Obama, the Army and Speaker Nancy Pelosi to put an end to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."
When I presented your signatures as "Exhibit E: Courage Campaign" to the four members of the Army's Federal Recognition Board, they were shocked. To the best of my knowledge, no one had ever submitted that many signatures in support of a service member before.
Now, I am planning to personally deliver your signatures of support to Speaker Pelosi, asking her to take leadership on DADT. With Rep. Patrick Murphy -- a fellow Iraq veteran -- reintroducing the "Military Readiness Enhancement Act" in Congress yesterday, I think your signatures will now have an even bigger impact on Speaker Pelosi.]

[To continue to push for an end to DADT, these organizations need your help. Can you make a contribution to support us?]

Arnold Palmer – “Nice guy” and “a womanizer” were synonymous when he was on the tour – especially among LPGA players who crossed his path.
Ole’ ‘fun-loving Arnie’ apparently still has that charm.

Well if this holds true for Michael Jackson, it should also mean that Arnold Palmer won’t get his honor by Nasty and her buddies in the House.
Wonder if the Race Card will be pulled on her for this one?
(Thank you Murphy for not putting Michael in this prowl…some of us are still sad on that one.)

Pelosi: House won’t take up Michael Jackson resolution
Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that the House will not take up a resolution honoring Michael Jackson.
WASHINGTON (CNN) –The House of Representatives will not take up a resolution honoring the late entertainer Michael Jackson, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Thursday.
Pelosi called Jackson “a great, great performer” and acknowledged there is “lots of sadness.” But the speaker said at a press conference that while members could express their sympathy on the House floor, she added “I don’t think it’s necessary” to pass a resolution.
“A resolution, I think, would open up (debate) to contrary views that are not necessary at this time to be expressed in association with a resolution whose purpose is quite different,” Pelosi explained.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, who spoke at the memorial service for Jackson on Tuesday in Los Angeles, has introduced HR 600, “Honoring an American legend and musical icon.”
The resolution states, “Whereas Michael Jackson was not only an accomplished recording and performing artist, he was a noted humanitarian.”

What a WONDERFUL prowl, Murphy! I am gonna cross post it over at TGW.
I’m glad to hear that phone calls are best, Rancho, since I pay a flat rate for phone and always call! I wish my fax machine still worked, alas.
Whew, whew, whew, what a day!
I just made it through the thread downstairs and was about to comment, when everyone moved upstairs.
I thought shadowfax made some excellent points and I mostly dittoed her, but I want to say everyone should take a deep breath.
I was over at that site all week, mostly irritating people, as I usually seem to do, but taking great care that I emphasized that it was not my intention to do so. I was trying to figure out what, exactly, bothered them so much about the support for Palin.
Pat and taggles are passionate people, same as the rest of us. None of us are going to see eye-to-eye on everything, and because Murphy tolerates a lot of posters who have vastly different world views, this is not the place for those who don’t like rough and tumble.
But Pat explained that her post was sparked by getting attacked by a close-knit group when she posted a dissenting view.
I wish she’d have put that in the original post, but be that as it may, her post was criticism, yes, but I don’t feel it was disrespectful or over the line. And Murphy and others who weighed in, were very careful not to burn bridges…which I think should be applauded.
btw, murphy’s monster atavar has a halo….very cute! Mine’s a squid with lobster claws and a unicorn horn. Hmmmmm. And three eyes.
Zee 07.09.09 at 7:07 pm
Shadowfax, egalia over at TGW took a lot of ugly flak for supporting Michael Jackson as a humanitarian, an artist, and a good father. Finally, she was forced to delete all ugly posts about MJ….and she is as open as Murphy for allowing dissenting and sparring posts.
Zee 07.09.09 at 7:09 pm
Another benefit if you send postcards….it will educate others as they are simple to catch the attention of all who handle them.
Zee 07.09.09 at 7:23 pm
Blue….hey! I went and checked ron’s post. yeah! Over at the other site there was a poster who pointed out much of the same thing and I totally “DITTO!”ed her, too. She pointed out the koolaid media trying to act as if michelle’s sense of style and grace was “all that” and concluded, “um, no.”
It was very relaxing to get to ditto her and ditto shadowfax, because I have been dealing with my latest “breakdown” — ie, my beloved refrigerator. I lost all my food, but “new” used frig is finally up and running. I even flipped the doors myself. I had to go buy a *tool* and it probably would’ve taken a professional 10 minutes instead of hours, but HEY.
On the positive side the computer shop just called and the only thing wrong with my iMac was a backscreen light. Whoo-hoo! No lost material, no new purchase neeeded!!
And no more hunching over this borrowed laptop!!!
Anyway….I wish I could’ve chimed in earlier today…but hopefully the teeth-grinding has abated and no bridges were burned…we need all the bridges…

The Place of Women on the Court

Interview with Justice Ginsberg
Q: The case ties together themes of women’s equality and reproductive freedom. The court split those themes apart in Roe v. Wade. Do you see, as part of a future feminist legal wish list, repositioning Roe so that the right to abortion is rooted in the constitutional promise of sex equality?
JUSTICE GINSBURG: Oh, yes. I think it will be.
Q: If you were a lawyer again, what would you want to accomplish as a future feminist legal agenda?
JUSTICE GINSBURG: Reproductive choice has to be straightened out. There will never be a woman of means without choice anymore. That just seems to me so obvious. The states that had changed their abortion laws before Roe [to make abortion legal] are not going to change back. So we have a policy that affects only poor women, and it can never be otherwise, and I don’t know why this hasn’t been said more often.
::snip::
Q: When you say that reproductive rights need to be straightened out, what do you mean?
JUSTICE GINSBURG: The basic thing is that the government has no business making that choice for a woman.

JUSTICE GINSBURG: The basic thing is that the government has no business making that choice for a woman.
And isn’t that exactly what we’ve been saying over and over again – if Palin can get that particular point then I’m in…I’m too old to have children now and even back in the day, I said – it’s my body, nobody has the right to tell me what I can or cannot do with it (well, within reason – no nudy pics or billboards, etc.) – I’ve been saying that for over 40 years and no one hears………………………..
Zee 07.09.09 at 7:32 pm
You know, wontbackdown #24, this is true on so many levels…it’s very much an economic disparity, not to mention government interference.
I wish there were a way to present these ideas without the ideology getting in the way. In the last thread, Delle posted a possible prowl on fighting the stupid cyberbullying “prevention” act.
We don’t need it — harassment is already against the law — and it can be abused. But do I want to link to a site that sneers that “lefties” are ruining the constitution? um, no. Make that HELL no. My son is as left as they come, and his communities are against the bill, too.
But “government interference” and “protecting the innocent” is a shifting line, according to the ideological camps.
The only time either side cites those concerns is if it fits with the pet project at hand.

Sorry I’m so behind on everything. It’s been a rough day for this puma. I’m tired out. I need to go back up and read all this on this thread yet. I’m not sure if I have the oomph tonight to do a prowl, but hopefully after work tomorrow I can still jump in on that. I was sent this email, though, that you might be interested in. This is about the ACORN whistle blower. I think that some of you might relate to what she’s saying. Here’s a quote from the beginning of the article:
Although she was indoctrinated into liberal thinking at a young age and has been a life-long Democrat, Anita MonCrief said in an interview that she now identifies with economic and social reforms that are championed by conservatives.
MonCrief is a former employee of the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) and its Project Vote affiliate who offered testimony last year in Harrisburg, Pa. as part of an election law suit filed against the organization. MonCrief discussed Project Vote’s voter registration activities and ACORN’s relationship with the Obama presidential campaign as part of her testimony.
“I’ve always been an outsider in my party because I ask a lot of questions and I didn’t like some of the answers I’ve been getting,” she said. “The problem I have with Democrats is that they promise you the world but then they don’t deliver. I identify now with conservative ideas because the answer is not social welfare. The answer instead comes from being less dependent on the government and keeping families together.”

I was really beside myself and couldn’t stop wondering if Liz new anything about IG Walpin’s investigation into Mayor Johnson and his subsequent firing. I emailed Fox business and gave them a piece of my mind. Thought you might like to know CJK.

FYI to all those interested in the IG Walpin firing, I received the following letter from the U.S. EEOC in response to the Walpin prowl letter I faxed:
———-
“Thank you for your letter dated June 21, 2009, to Acting Chair Stuart J. Ishimaru concerning the discharge of Gerald Walpin from his position as Inspector General of the Corporation for National and Community Service. The Acting Chair has asked this office to respond directly to you.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is responsible for enforcing laws which prohibit discrimination against employees and applicants for employment with federal agencies based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age (40 and over), disability, and reprisal. Mr. Walpin must initiate the first step in pursuing an allegation of discrimination which is to contact an equal employment opportunity (EEO) counselor at the agency where the alleged discrimination occurred within 45 calendar days of the personnel action or conduct causing the aggrieved person to believe that (s)he was discriminated against.
As you are not Mr. Walpin, or his legal representative, the EEOC is not permitted to discuss his termination with you due to the Privacy Act, of 1974, 5 U.S.C. [section] 552a, which prohibits the disclosure of information from a system of records absent the written consent of the subject individual. If Mr. Walpin, or his legal representative, seeks additional information about the federal sector complaint process, he should contact:
Office of Federal Operations
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
Post Office Box 19848
Washington, DC 20036
Telephone: (202) 663-4599
We hope this information is helpful to you.” Sincerely,
—————–
BTW, below are links to some recent coverage re the Walpin firing. The small amount of media coverage I’ve seen of the so-called ‘documents’ obtained by the Washington Post sound like the smears and character assassination that we now know are typical of the BO administration as it attempts to squelch any and all dissenting opinion. The Washington Examiner opinion piece indicates the CNCS board is stonewalling the congressional investigators’ questions re WH involvement in Walpin’s firing. Thanks.

Hey WBD, you’re preachin’ to the choir here girl, I love Michael as many already know here and I don’t think he had a mean bone in his body or he might still be alive and fighting right now.
I am glad Murphy did not put him on this prowl because as much as I want Alice Paul to get honor, a stamp with her photo on it, and heck, chiseled into Mt. Rushmore…I would love to see Michael get some honorable mention at the least…but I was just bringing this up because Nasty made a point of stating he won’t get brought up in the House and damn if he isn’t Palmer sure as shit shouldn’t.
RIP Michael, I hope your name is cleared some day for the sake of your family and children.
Another proof that he is not a pedophile is that it’s a common fact that pedophiles do not change, continue to molest children. His children are proof that he raised them well. He did do some weird stuff, but not things that support his being a molester.

Thanks for the link, DWP. That is an interesting read, but IMO, it is precisely the incessant arguing over labels that continues to hamstring us. Self-determination in all matters is a primary consideration for ‘feminists,’ IMO. When we fight among ourselves over what boils down to semantics, we play directly into the hands of the male-dominated patriarchal power structure that has always succeeded at ultimately subjugating us by dividing and conquering our efforts and our resources.

“Challenge the constituionality of BO2’s legion of fill-in the blank czars-none of whom have to be confirmed, or even pass asecurity check. (Come to think of it , neither did Barry.) Let slip ypur own journalistic dogs of war, assuming you have any, to find Barry’s birth certificate, his college transcripts, whether he applied to Occidental as a foreign student, and on which passport he traveled in 1981 to Pakistan with his friend Wahid Hamid, for starters.”

Free speech need not sanction a steady stream of invective in an attempt to prove a point. Women who do are nothing more than the same frat boy mentality they so often single out as proof. We cannot elevate the conversation unless we agree that picking and choosing who is eligible to be defended, as opposed to who is not, is swept away.

“A favorite childhood game is banned from the Jasmer household after 2-year-old Natalie proved herself the hide-and-seek champion. Natalie went missing Tuesday evening while playing the game with her brother and sisters and the best efforts of neighbors, police and firefighters called by her frantic parents weren’t enough to turn up the tot.
The terrifying ordeal for her parents ended happily after more than an hour of scouring the neighborhood around the 10th Street mobile home park where the Jasmers live.
In the end, it was the family dog that flushed her out. “Copper found her,” Natalie’s brother Kenny Findley said, crediting the mutt with discovering the tiny girl asleep inside a drawer underneath the washing machine in the family’s home.”

Astute, as always, Murphy! Where have you been??? I prefer to unleash my ‘invective’ — whether constant or targeted — at stuff like the misogynistic fascist dogma known as Islam and sharia law, the steady erosion of our freedoms and blatant violation of our Constitution by BO and cronies, sexist/misogynistic egomaniacs like ‘Littleman,’ etc. As tough as this mediocre-male-dominated world is on women, I never want to add to the sh– that any woman is putting up with every d—day!!! Also, even though I admire both MJ and Arnold Palmer, I don’t think Congressional gold medals should go to entertainers or sports figures unless they’ve done something really extraordinary for humankind. P.S. Did anyone besides me read that Gale Storm (“My Little Margie”) died the same day as MJ and Farrah Fawcett? LOL!
We were one of teh first families in our neighborhood to get a TV. Every Tuesday night the nighbors and their kids would pile into our livingroom to watch The Milton Berle Show.
PS I couldnt stand Milton Berle… or Jerry Lewis… and Lucille Ball made me nervous.

A-yup to all you just said, Murphy! You, too, are one of my heroes! (And I do use that word to especially mean women. I don’t think of it as a ‘masculine’ word. Don’t care what the ‘linguistic experts’ say, think, either!}
DancesWithPumas 07.10.09 at 12:03 am
words to the effect of woman bashing is a 24/7/365 participatory national sport in this country — I’d rather not participate.

I thought you said that, Murphy.

Hi sheila7! Glad to know you liked “My Little Margie,” and that such shows have remained around for the ‘younger’ generations to enjoy. I wonder whether those shows are still being broadcast anywhere? P.S. My folks would never have let me stay up all night to watch TV when I was 13!!!
murphy 07.10.09 at 12:10 am
yeah, I did say it, but the thought came to me when a commenter at TC, an awesome one I havent seen too often, said “I’d like to see MORE male bashing, not less. Heck I can see woman bashing 24/7 on my TV.”
cant remember her name, but she rocks.
I love it when good people say provocative things to shake things up. I imagine she doesnt actually mean that she hates men or that she is a sadist who enjoys male bashing. She was making a damn good point.
wish I could remember her name.
I remember one time a regular commenter named Hecate at Atrios (a lefty blog I used to haunt) came out and said she was PRO ABORTION. That really shocked me. She had valid reasons and all but just saying/typing those words were RADICAL to me. Made me think differently about my own views.

I never got to watch Milton Berle or much of Jerry Lewis. I don’t think my folks thought they were very funny! I didn’t begin to appreciate Lucille Ball (or Vivian Vance) until I was an adult and began watching some of the old “I Love Lucy” re-runs.

fridays are always good, or at least interesting, for some reason. I end up going deep on Fridays for some reason. Probably all the voices of all the Pumas I’ve been reading and thinking about all week have coagulated into coherent thoughts by then.

sheila7, yep, that’s just how my Skipper is . She says she stays awake all night and of course we dont believe her, but then, go in and check on her and eyes WIDE open. Sometimes she steals her sister’s laptop and surfs the internet under the covers. It’s the 21st century flashlight.
you must have had a lot to listen to and think about. Did you have big sisters and brothers?
sheila7 07.10.09 at 12:29 am
Murphy,
I had an older sister, younger sister and younger brother so I think that was my wind down time. The house was hectic the rest of the time. I’m still a night owl, obviously.

Murphy,
Now that I’m looking back I also used to write songs and poetry during that time. I was the type of kid who could be alone alot and it didn’t bother me. My mom would say that I was the only one who could sit and play with my Fisher Price people for hours and not even hear from me. She said I always marched to the beat of a different drummer. LOL.

murphy 07.10.09 at 12:48 am
sheila7, shucks, that would be cool if you still had the poems and songs. Your mother is right — you WERE different (in a good way). Isnt it funny how mothers “know” us? it’s also so odd how it’s so easy to know your children — they really ARE different. each one.
weird.
when we were little bedtime was 7:30 and it was the LAW. My mother was the LAW GIVER. We didnt even THINK about questioning it, we just went straight to sleep. As different as my sister and I are, we always had a special bond based on dealing with the LAW GIVER.
sheila7 07.10.09 at 12:50 am
Murphy,
LOL on the Law Giver. Actually I think I do still have a notebook of my songs and poems buried deep in my basement somewhere.

Really, anytime…. You are welcome… Just thought you could help me in a 72% REP. County turn some heads and gain some Puma support…. I do know the REP are unhappy with BO (even though alot of them voted for the ‘kicktothecrubpieceofnogoodcrapthatheis’… So, I think giving them a clear direction could help…. I still do not understand what a threat Hillary was to the Rep. party??? Bo, is more of a threat and off the charts with extreme excessiveness…. UGH!
sheila7 07.10.09 at 12:53 am
You’re right about moms knowing their kids. My sister has been having some personal problems lately but hasn’t told my mom. The other day on the phone my mom asked what’s going on with your sister? I said what do you mean? She said “A mother knows her children.” How true that is.

I will dig them out one day. However alot of teenage angst and such that I’m not sure I want to revisit, but maybe. It would be interesting to read some of them again.
Well, I guess I’ll get to bed everyone, I have a miserable cold and my NyQuil is kicking in.

Quote from Sunday July 5th an editorial apperance in The New York Times entitiled, “Pure Overreach.”
” With a little notice order last week, we fear the Supreme Court has set the stage for dismantling the longstanding ban on corporate spending in elections for president and Congress. If those restrictions are overturned, it would be a disaster for democracy.”

Hi Pumas – just popping in to say goodnight.
Juliette – you and i must be watching the same program on TV – are you on the West coast too?
CJK – do you have a PC. If so could you tell Juliette how to highlight and copy a web address from the open web page and paste it into her document (blog box) so that she does not have to type outg all those long addresses – I am a Mac person and my instructions were of no help
By the way it is worse than you think CJK. Earlier you said
” I can’t believe there are 19 women Congressional reps who still haven’t co-sponsored the bill for her Congressional Gold Medal.”
Those 19 women are those who have already co-sponsored the golf award but not Alice Paul. There are another 20 women (according to Rancho’s original post – wa sit yesterday?) who have sponsored neither. Presumably we will prowl them later – at least I intend to. The list is in Rancho’s post # 115 on the Cupcake thread. Perhaps as it is late and not many around i will go fetch it!

Okay, RemNov, as requested, this is for Juliette. To copy a link, go to the address bar in your browser (example: http:// etc.), highlight the entire address, then press down the Ctrl key and the c key. When you’re ready to paste it into your comment, press down the Ctrl key and the v key. It will show up as regular text until after you post, and then will show up as an underlined link. (Remember that if you copy and paste other text before you paste the link, it will have disappeared and you will need to go back and repeat the process.) And thanks, RemNov, for being a nightowl and for posting all that info and for being so thoughtful and helpful even at this late hour. Gotta go. Night PUMAs everywhere.
