Boston Boomer has a great post up about the insanity of trying to be sane in an insane world. Her citation of this study, in which sociologists had themselves admitted to mental hospitals by pretending to be crazy and then acted normally once they were committed, only to find that the only people in the asylums who knew they were only pretending to be crazy were the actual crazy people (the doctors and nurses NEVER realized), is worth a chuckle on many levels.

Also, this from Violet Sox is a must-read. A sheepish young feminist named Hilary G, who no longer participates in PDS’ fueled misogyny, wrote:

“In the wake of the Bush presidency, McCain’s choice of a female VP seemed like an audacious ploy to differentiate his campaign from Bush’s, to redeem the Republican ideology by distancing itself from the Bush presidency. The idea that this (Republican) woman could throw the whole election somehow gave me every incentive to hate her, to believe everything I heard about her, to brand her “one of those women that make other women look bad.” She was definitely a hate receptacle. McCain wasn’t a hate receptacle, despite his Republicanism, because he was a man.”

If in fact Hilary G is a real person and that is a genuine comment, well, welcome to Pumaville Hilary G! I’m thrilled you now see the light, though I find your word choice somewhat puzzling. You were afraid Palin might be a sign that McCain’s campaign was “distancing itself from the Bush presidency” and that Palin “could throw the whole election”? Well, what the heck would be wrong with “distancing itself from the Bush presidency?? Also, another way of saying “throw the whole election” is “WIN the whole election.” For crying out loud. If a candidate, or team of candidates, and the platform they push become attractive to a large enough number of voters who go ahead and decide to VOTE for the team, that’s called WINNING AN ELECTION IN A DEMOCRACY!

It sounds like what Hilary G is really saying is that she was afraid her team was going to lose so she decided to lie, cheat, and throw her principles overboard so that she could feel like a winner.

The candidates, by design and/or by coincidence, TRY to reach out to voters and persuade them of their competence, charisma, whatever. You appear to be characterizing Palin’s appeal as CHEATING. In fact, to take the insanity masquerading as sanity theme a bit further, you appear to have decided that since the other side might WIN FAIR AND SQUARE (though you call it cheating) that you and all your friends were JUSTIFIED IN CHEATING yourselves! In my book, participating in vile smear campaigns based on blatant and disproved lies (rape kits, creationism, incest) IS cheating. Damnit it all to hell, Hilary G.

Hilary G’s perhaps inadvertently candid assessment of the behavior and motives of the Left (and their toadies in the established Feminist Movement) makes it obvious to me: We were right then and we are right now. The Powers That Be were scared witless of Hillary Clinton and they feel the same way about Palin.

Don’t forget it Pumas. Every stupid, insane crazy LIE they use to Kill The Bitch is used for one, simple reason: They are TERRIFIED of her.

Good.

Because it should be repeated every few weeks, HERE is a CLASSIC post on Clinton Derangement Syndrome and the misogyny it made commonplace. Every single one of the links in this paragraph is to mainstream media outlet or a Big BOIZ Blog. Every single one.

Hillary Clinton is a bitch. A big ol’ bitchy bitch. And a cunt.A “big fucking whore.” Fortunately, you can “call a woman anything.” She’s “Nurse Ratched.” She’ll castrate you if she gets a chance. She would like that. She’s a “She-Devil.” She’s a madam, and her daughter’s a whore. She’s frigid, and she can’t give head. She’s a “She-Devil.” A lesbian. A nag. When things get tough, she cries like a big dumb GIRL. In fact, she’s just that — a “little girl.” In FACT, she wants to “cry her way to the White House.” To be, ahem, “Crybaby-in-Chief.” That proves that she’s not tough enough. But she’s also not feminine enough. She’s “screechy.” She’s an “aging, resentful female.” She’s “Sister Frigidaire.” She really ought to quit running for President and stick to housework. She basically spent her entire times as First Lady going to tea parties. She’s a monster whojust won’t die. In fact, she really should just die. You can buy aurinal target with her face on it to express what you really think of her. OMG she’s got claws! She’s crazy. In fact, she’s a lunatic. She’s petty and vindictiveand entitled. She’s a washed-up old hag. She’s “everybody’s first wifestanding outside probate court.” She’s a “scolding mother.” She’s shrill… shrill… shrill. She can’t take it when people are mean to her. She’s a “hellish housewife.” She’sTanya Harding. She CAN’T be President, what with the mood swings and the menses.Any woman who votes for her is voting with her vagina, not her brain. Women only like Hillary because she’s a fellow Vagina-American. And because they vote with their feelings. Frankly, anyone who still thinks we need “feminine role models” should get over it and move on, already. Oh, and men who supporters are castratos in the eunuch chorus. You shouldn’t make her President because she wants it too much. She’s totally just banking on support from ugly old feminists. And she looooves to “play the victim.” She cackles! And cackles. And cackles. It’s like she’s a witch or something! She’s definitely“witchy.” And now you can buy her cackle as your ring tone. Her voice, too, is “grating”—like “fingernails on a blackboard” to “some men.” She’s hiding behind her gender. She isn’t a “convincing mom” because she’s too strident. She never did anything on her own. Her husband keeps her on a leash. She hates men. Her campaign is a “catfight.” She makes people want to kill themselves, is like a “domineering mother,” and is cold. And OMG she has boobies! All of which are reasons to hateher. (And boy, could I go on.)

Oh, and if you even mention any of this, you’re either silly or a bad person.

And she has cankles. (h/t mangoprincess)

Oh, and p.s. The SCFP, MSM, and TPTB can just knock it the fuck off with the “Sarah Palin is a Polarizing Figure” baloney. She’s a POLITICIAN nitwits — she’s SUPPOSED to be supported by some and not supported by others. Are the Boston Celtics a POLARIZING basketball team? I guess they must be, at least according to fans of the L.A. Lakers. About half of all American voters pulled the lever for obama in November. The other half voted for McCain. How come no one calls obama a “Polarizing Figure” even though at least HALF of the voters don’t like him, didn’t vote for him, and think he’s a terrible president?

More people strongly disapprove of obama than strongly approve — his worst polling yet. His daily approval index is also at a new low: -3%

You know what that means!

Hi PUMAs –

What I find ironic about our tax system also – I paid SS taxes for over 45 years – now I am drawing SS and I’m still paying taxes on it………….. and starting in January 2010 I guess – still haven’t gone to one of those medicare/medicaid meetings even though I get information from some insurance/hospital at least once a week – I’m gonna be paying for medications I don’t take or use just because somebody said I had to…………I didn’t take COBRA (too expensive) and any other insurance would only cover catastrophic (whatever the hell that is) so here I am – knock on wood I guess

Just found out that a friend I went to high school with just died of cancer – need to get more details – but she was only a year older than me

This country is going to hell in a handbasket………….hold on………

BTW – did you know MJ died? Guess he’s been elevated to the same status as our Messiah pretendident………..how utterly stupid………….mind boggling to me

Also, I read every single comment over on Violet’s site regarding Palin – verrrrrrrrrry interesting – as far as I am concerned NOW then and NOW now can kiss my ass – they are obsolete and out of touch – if one cannot support other women (in this case Palin) then what’s the point?????

I consider myself a feminist because I am a female – sure as hell don’t consider myself male – I have boobs and a vagina – no penis………….

I may be an old feminist but I fought the fight back in the 60’s and have no energy to do it again…………….. it’s someone else’s turn..

ShadowFax,
Arrived at the stadium around 6:45. Tons of people. At 7:15 some guy with a bullhorn came out to tell us they didn’t have any more tickets!! Everyone was shocked and a.n.g.r.y. No one moved. No one left. We decided to go to dinner. After dinner in Redondo Beach, we went back to the stadium. Nothing had changed except the anger had accelerated to rage. We decided to leave before a riot broke out.
Got home around midnight. The traffic was thick. Busloads of people heading back to San Diego, etc.

Disappointed? Yes. Angry at the mismanagement… yes. Dragging today, yes. Worth the effort? Yes. Grateful for your generous offer? Yes! Yes! and YES! Thanks again, (((( Shadow!!!)))

The results (yours and mine) were disappointing, but the underlying context is amazing to me. The energy and determination that was generated by each turn of the MJ Memorial tickets event mini-marathon was interesting and, in some ways, reassuring. I think it demonstrated Puma spirit. Worth it just for that fact.
It wasn’t meant to be. So be it. Nothing to be sorry about.

PS I should have headed to LA immediately.

Interesting video from the Chicago Tea Party….

what we all have in common (green party, republican, democrats, libertarians)

What they did have in common with the average Tea Party protester was a sense of disenfranchisement and anger toward a dysfunctional two party system, but is that enough to bridge the socialist divide?

My daughters are more of an age to have appreciated MJ, but I also enjoyed his music/art. The mockery he suffered at the hands of ‘the media’ no doubt contributed mightily to his unhappy life, to his alleged need for drugs, and of course to his death. For these realizations, I will always grieve for him and all the others who are victims of the media mob.

What I take heart in seeing at this time is the incredible number of people who are doing what they can to show respect for his life. Despite the best efforts of a vicious industry that pulled in huge bucks serving to destroy the soul of the man, common people saw him for who he was and loved him then, and love him now.

The media. What a travesty.

Yes, you’re right my friend.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh.
The only thing I am glad about not being able to go is that his casket will be there…….I couldn’t handle that sadness. It would send me over the edge.

The sadness over his death is the same way I felt when John Lennon died.
Amazing how people we have never talked to can effect our lives.

Are Batteries In Electric Cars, Hybrids Safe?

Next month will mark another important milestone on the road to cleaner, greener motoring: Mitsubishi Motor (7211.T) will begin mass-producing an electric vehicle, becoming the first major carmaker in the world to do so. By late July, the Tokyo-based automaker will deliver its $48,000 electric i-MiEV minicar to businesses and local governments.

Other automakers have similar ideas. Subaru, a unit of Japan’s Fuji Heavy Industries (7270.T), plans to sell 170 of its $48,000 plug-in Stella electric cars this year.

Yet even as carmakers race to showcase these green vehicles, some experts are raising concerns about their safety. The worst-case scenario: thermal runaway, which can happen when a short circuit inside a battery sparks a chain reaction, causing overheating or a fire.

“It’s not going to happen all that frequently, but the consequences could be catastrophic,” says Barnett.

Even if the battery works properly, other parts might fail. The vehicle’s control system, which monitors energy storage and discharge, could go haywire. And unlike the two-year life span of batteries for mobile phones, car batteries need to last 10 years or longer. “In batteries for laptops or cameras, everyone just assumes that after using any portable gadget for a while the battery will wear down and may only recharge to two-thirds of its original capacity,” says Nissan’s Horie. “You can’t design a car battery that way.”

from the WSJ political diary, sorry no link:

“Stray Cat Strut

The Obama and Clinton camps have acted harmoniously in public ever since President Obama surprised many by making Hillary Clinton his Secretary of State. But there are still some tensions. Former President Bill Clinton is clearly not picking up on signals from the White House about its political priorities.

For instance, the Obama White House has pulled out all the stops to block potential primary opponents to New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, who was appointed last year to take Mrs. Clinton’s seat. Intervention by President Obama or Vice President Biden convinced several New York Democrats not to challenger her. But White House efforts have not dissuaded Manhattan Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, whom polls show likely to beat the incumbent with support from urban Democrats, many of whom find the upstate Ms. Gillibrand unsimpatico.

Ms. Maloney has managed to line up former President Clinton to headline a fundraiser in Manhattan on July 20. Although she is quick to acknowledge his appearance does not constitute an endorsement, Mr. Clinton’s decision is clearly a show of support given that Senator Gillibrand is about to announce her re-election bid.

Another New York Democrat clearly not marching in lockstep with the Obama White House is House Ways and Means Chairman Charles Rangel. “I really don’t understand why President Obama got involved in our primary,” Mr. Rangel told the New York Daily News. He added that he’s not ready to endorse any candidate, but he went out of his way to praise Ms. Maloney: “I really cannot say anything negative about a senior member who wants to run and whose polls, at this point in time, appear to be in her favor.”

The New York primary, still 14 months away, is shaping up to be a major test of the Obama administration’s ability to herd the political cats of the Democratic Party. So far, Mr. Obama seems to be having limited influence over a couple of big strays.

I agree, now I’d love to know why he has decided to ignore them. I’m a little baffled that he has decided to take on this fight unless Maloney was a big supporter of HRC in the election.

DWP – I don’t want to ruin your day, but tv is reporting that there are empty seats in the Staple Center and they were passing out the extra tickets they had to the press. I wonder who screwed up the distribution yesterday.

I admit that MJ is a musical icon, he is also an idol to many people. However, it seems to me that all this hoopla over his death -(YES< Virginia, he is still dead!) -is a real slap-in-the-face to those kids who may (or may not) – have been molested. I know the courts did not find him guilty, OJ was found not guilty also. So not much faith in the courts from me.

* They took my soap off to show this all over TV land! I ask you –If Elvis had been accused of the things MJ was accused of–would this circus be happening??

Maloney was and is a HUGE Hillary supporter BCL. She drank the koolaid after Denver, but then, “everyone” did.

I was backing Maloney for Clinton’s seat, though I was pleased with GIllibrand, and either way:

It’s the DEMOCACY, Stupid!

BigCatLover 07.07.09 at 1:32 pm

Murphy,
That’s what I thought so Bill is saying thank you. I wondered if Maloney was more of a liberal than Gilligrand and that might appeal to Bill more. I’m not from New York but I favored Maloney, but didn’t personally have a problem with Gillibrand. Didn’t know that BO supported her. Odd.

The Haircut

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked
About his bill, and the barber replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you; I’m
Doing community service this week.’ The florist was pleased and left the shop.

When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a ‘thank
You card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the
Barber again replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you; I’m doing community
Service this week.’ The cop was happy and left the shop.

The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a ‘thank you’
Card with a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Then, a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his
bill, the barber again replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you; I’m doing
Community service this week.’ The Congressman was very happy and left the shop.

The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen
Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the
Citizens of our country and the members of our Congress.

I believe Michael Jackson was a very special, sweet person – very misunderstood because he was different. So different that people did not know what to make of him. So they made him a bad person. More than his music, I miss the fact that there is one less good person in the world.

Never once thought he was the man that people villified him to be.
I hope he is in a better place now.

Last night some assholes were on Hannity spewing hate and I thought to myself you have GOP members admitting to adultry, etc, etc and here’s a guy who was found NOT GUILTY — plus I think Michael had a huge heart and some people tried to take advantage of that.

Thanks for asking. I am doing really well. Things are really busy..going to Atlanta tonight but watching MJackson on the computer.

I too grew up with his music and later just wishing people would just leave him alone. There are so many hateful, judgemental people out there – they will never stop. They need to feed their abysss that is a hateful hole in their life.

Long live Michael Jackson !

Feelings of love and appreciation for Michael Jackson have truly been inspiring today during this memorial. It has been truly great. Maybe these same loving feelings will truly make us all feel that “We are the World” I would hope these same feelings can go out to each individual although while they dont have the money or power to help as many as he might have, they will carry on the spirit of giving. I hope and pray this will not turn into a circus of letigations and ruin the moment. But, that is for the future. Anyway, Rest in peace Michael.

…”Who is Mr. Obama? Where did he come from?” asked Nikita Ivanov, 21, a law student. “How did he get to power? He says he will make a change, but already he is showing very aggressive policies in Afghanistan.” As the presidents motorcade made its way from the airport Monday, curious onlookers appeared intermittently along the route. A few flashed peace signs, but most watched in silence. The scenes were similar as the presidential convoy made its way through the city, shuttling Obama from his luxury hotel near Red Square to meetings.

Every male in my family fishes – but my brother in law does catch and release – he & my sister live on a lake – last summer I was up for a few days – he & I were fishing off the dock – he baited the line, I threw out the line into the lake and we were catching ’sunnies’ (little sunfish – taste really good) but Jeff would take the fish off the hook and throw it back – we probably caught the same fish several times ;) – my preference is for walleye pike – so good – taste is kinda similar to talipia, but better if fresh caught

I’m postina an email I received today from a Jake Brewer after I signed a Read the Bill petition awhile back. Don’t know that much about this group but this email is interesting, but long:

This is another big week for government transparency, Friends.

You’ve created tremendous momentum for our Read the Bill campaign, and we’re nearing our goal of 15,000 petition signatures before Congress enters its August recess. 11,982 of you have signed as of this morning, and more endorsements and partners are coming by the day. Incredible.

This week, though, something just as big is happening over in the Senate with our campaign to pass S. 482 – The Senate Campaign Disclosure Parity Act – and we could really use your help.

Senate offices won’t be expecting us to care about this issue or make phone calls… which is exactly why we need make them.

http://www.sunlightfoundation.com/pass482/

Two things have to happen for S. 482 to pass. First, the Republican and Democratic leaders have to agree on a time for a vote, and our lobbyist is working hard to get them to come to an agreement.

The second thing is where we really need your phone calls:

When the bill comes up for a vote, Senator Pat Roberts will offer an amendment that must be defeated. He will claim his amendment is about transparency, but to be perfectly blunt: it’s not.

Please call your senators to ask them to vote NO on the Roberts amendment to S. 482. We’ve made it easy for you. Just click on your senators’ names and follow the simple steps.

http://www.sunlightfoundation.com/pass482/

The Roberts amendment would violate the privacy of donors to nonprofit organizations by forcing their names to be made public any time the nonprofit decided to file an ethics complaint against a sitting senator.

Think about it. You have a constitutionally protected right to free association. That includes making private contributions to whatever nonprofit organization you choose. The Roberts amendment would eradicate that right whenever an organization asked the Ethics Committee to investigate whether a senator violated Senate Rules. The result? Organizations will be forced to choose between protecting their donors’ constitutional rights or filing an ethics complaint. You better believe a lot of them will decide against filing the complaint.

Call your senators and let them know that because the Roberts amendment would mean fewer legitimate inquiries into alleged violations of Senate rules, the amendment is antithetical to transparency.

S.482 is an important bill that provides voters with timely online access to critical information on senate campaign finances. The bill should NOT be derailed by an anti-transparency amendment.

Thank you so much for your concern and your phone calls!

Jake

ps We’re going to be watching the upcoming health care bill like hawks to make sure Congress is transparent, and that they read the bill. Stay tuned.

McConnell hints at racial bias; NRA expresses ‘very serious concerns’
updated 4:15 p.m. ET, Tues., July 7, 2009
WASHINGTON – Conservatives stepped up their criticism of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor on Tuesday, but it was unclear how far Senate Republicans were willing to go to create bumps in what appears to be a smooth road to confirmation for President Barack Obama’s first high-court choice.

Even as the Senate’s top Republican suggested that Sotomayor let racial bias cloud her rulings, he and other GOP senators refused to say whether they would accede to conservative activists’ demands to try to delay a final vote to confirm her until September.

Well, I’m not Pers, but I will say that reducing this to a matter of Muslim/non-Muslim Chinese is a not only a simplification but a misrepresentation.

The Uighur people are of different ethnic and linguistic stock than the Han Chinese. They’re Turkic, related to the peoples of Usbek, Khazhak, Turkestan, etc.. Their language is Indo-European, and their culture is closer to the other steppe peoples’ than it is to the Han Chinese. They’ve had limited home rule that’s now being threatened by in-migration of the Han Chinese, in a deliberate attempt to absorb them into the People’s Republic and to dilute their culture and political influence.

They and their ancestors have been in the region for a couple thousand years. Maybe some PUMAs will remember the Caucasian mummies found in western China a decade or so ago. Those are the forbears of the Uighurs. They show up in paintings in the area during the Buddhist period–red haired, blue-eyed monks and noblemen/women. Yes, they’re mostly Muslim. No, this conflict is not in essence about religion. It’s about an attempt at cultural and political imperialism on the part of the Han Chinese.

___________________________________________________
That’s a good parallel, BigCatLover. And goofsmom is right, too. It’s the land–it’s been the Uighur homeland for a couple millenia, maybe longer. Some linguists/archaologists place their ancestors their during the Bronze Age (around 1200 BCE).

The history of the area is fascinating. A major leg of the Silk Road went through it, and Marco Polo traversed the Taklamakan Desert on his way to Beijing. I have a pet theory that the Indo-European peoples who settled in what is now Western China and the Celts were the first groups out of the gate when the Indo-Europeans began their migrations out of their own homeland somewhere (authorities differ on exactly where) on the southern Eurasian steppe. One went east, the other group went west. (And one flew over the cuckoo’s nest.) You find tartan cloth associated with the Celts in their migrations all across Europe, from Hallstadt in Austria to Ireland. And you find the same types of “plaid” patterns in the weavings of the early Indo-European in Xinjiang. You don’t find them in the intervening Indo-Aryan cultures.

So yes, the cultural differences are deeply rooted. As are the people themselves.

Hi all, Still not been feeling well, but I decided I was going to read some posts today anyway.

Are PUMA’s supporting this 24/7 coverage of the death (suicide) of MJ? Sorry, he may have been found innocent, but he was guilty as hell. Did you not see his “fun room” where he took all the little boys to bed?

That made me want to throw up. There is no person in this Country that deserved the media blast he has had. Then the tax payers of L.A. had to pay for all of the security today. I would have told the Jacksons to pay for it themselves.

Another person died the day he died. Her name was Farrah Fawcett. She was a beautiful woman who suffered so much pain in her last three years in her fight with cancer. She was strong, courageous. I respected her a great deal.

She had so much class. She showed it in death. She had a private ceremony for friends and family.

Have a good evening all.

The Mallory and Mair book is a more general history of the people and their neighbors and region. Barber is a textile expert, so there’s more in her book about the weavings.

One interesting facet of this culture was the very high status of women, as shown in the burials. Again, something they shared with the Celts.

BigCatLover,
I did misspeak, but I’m sure she spelled out her wishes as I have mine. Most responsible people do.

Sorry to me he was not a superstar. He was simply adored by many who couldn’t see the evil. He was a man-child who believed he could have anything he wanted, so he took everything he wanted.

It’s chronic pain: fibromyalgia and back disorder. I am one week from my third epidural in the spinal column. If that doesn’t help, I will just live with that too. I just can’t be at the pc very long.

=^..^=

Washington D.C. Recognizes Same-Sex Marriages
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
WASHINGTON (AP) — An ordinance recognizing same-sex marriages performed in other states and countries went into effect Tuesday in the District of Columbia, and a member of the City Council said he planned to follow up with a measure to allow same-sex marriage in the city.

The bill recognizing the marriages was approved 12 to 1 by the City Council in May. Congress, which has the final say over the city’s laws, had 30 days to review the legislation. Since it took no action, the bill automatically became law.

Councilman David Catania is fine-tuning a bill that would allow same-sex marriages to be performed in Washington.

Court Upholds Dismissal of Colorado Professor
:::snippet:::
“Mr. Churchill, an ethnic studies professor, caused an uproar when he referred in an essay to some victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks as “little Eichmanns,” and argued that that was the true reason he was terminated. He filed a wrongful-termination suit, and after a trial earlier this year, a jury found that his political views played a substantial role in his dismissal. But in his 42-page ruling, Judge Naves said the jury’s decision to award Mr. Churchill only $1 compelled him to deny reinstatement.”

Sending GPS Devices the Way of the Tape Deck?
By JENNA WORTHAM
The smartphone is already the Swiss Army knife of the digital age — a quick flick of the finger can transform it into a camcorder, Web browser, gaming device or music player. For many consumers, the Apple iPhone and its competitors are versatile enough that they can get by without separate cameras and laptops.

Now the smartphone is beginning to displace yet another stand-alone device — the GPS receiver — as a convenient way for drivers to get directions to unknown destinations.

More than 40 percent of all smartphone owners use their mobile devices to get turn-by-turn directions, according to data from Compete, a Web analytics firm. For iPhone users, the figure is even higher, eclipsing 80 percent.

High-end phones like the BlackBerry from Research in Motion and the new Palm Pre increasingly come equipped with features common in portable navigational devices, like spacious touch-sensitive screens, intuitive menu designs and improved audio capabilities.

“The smartphone has made a lot of progress in the last year,” said Dominique Bonte, director of navigation research with ABI Research. “It gets very close to what people expect from the experience of the personal navigational device.”

I like RD’s take on the Franken swearing-in. I’m not a Minnesotan, and some of our best Pumas are, so I know I may be wrong, but i LIKE Al Franken, always have. I never watched SNL and have heard that he’s made some pretty sexist statements, but he reminds me of SP in his outsider genuine-ness.

What IS it with you Western/Midwesterners, and especially you Minnesotans? You keep putting up GENUINE citizens as candidates.

weird.

Women’s Soccer League Forges Ahead Without TV Deal or Big Sponsors
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Selling Americans on professional soccer has been tough. Selling them on women’s team sports has been tougher. Selling them on a new women’s soccer league during a deep recession may prove to be the toughest task of all.

Yet with high hopes and low expectations, the Women’s Professional Soccer league started its first season in April. The seven-team league has no television rights deal, a meager media budget and just a handful of major sponsors. It also must overcome history: The Women’s United Soccer Association, built on a wave of support after the host United States won the 1999 Women’s World Cup, folded after only three seasons.

Franken is supposed to be a policy wonk, and can draw the contiguous United States from memory! (Yesterday (?) I posted a youtube (via The Confluence ) of Franken drawing))).

I signed that petition too and have the contract ready to fax over to Rep. Alyson Schwartz and Senators Spector And Casey PA.
What are the chances anyone will sign this contract; little to none I guess, but it will at least let them know that their constituents exist and are paying attention.

No company sould be too big to fail.

No bill should be to long to read.

It sadens me to realize that the most corrupt politicians in Washington right now are 1. Chris Dodd
2. Barney Frank
3. John Murpha

The list goes on, and of course there are some pretty corrupt republicans as well, but the majority of damage seems to be coming from the dems right now.

138

Juliette 07.07.09 at 11:08 pm

Thanks VTcat #39 for the list.

I will start making calls tomorrow.

I listened to alot of talking heads try to second guess Sarah Palins strategy; if in fact it is that, with regards to running for POTUS in 2012. Many of them expressed the notion that “quiting ” was a bad strategy and one that republicans and democrats alike will use against her.

I wonder is these morons understand that political strategy for a women must me invented and cannot follow the patterns of winning male candidates. There is aparently a different set of rules for dealing with women candidates as opposed to male candidates.
I trust Palin to create a new and affective female strategy to win in 2012, if the office of POTUS is what she will be seeking.
Even if she does not decide to run for president or any other public office, I feel certain that she will continue to play a powerful and most positive roll in advocating for the American People, something that my party seems to have forgotten about completely.

Murphy

Get another wonderful post. I thought the video was great when I watched it via Zee’s link last night. Great call on highlighting it in today’s post.
Seems that George Soros (or Schwartz) the most evil man on the planet made a cameo in this video. This is a character that, I believe requires much more of our attention.
To me Obama’s financial policies are to stupid even for him.
I remain convinced that Soros hand picked the man who could sell the American people shit on a stick. Soros’ plan is to nation bust by bringing down financail systems. If Obama continues his spending policies, George Soros’ strategy will surely suceed. Soros is the most dangerous of vultures and will surely destroy US if we let him.
