Until Senators Arlen Spector and Bob Casey completely block my access to their contact forms I am sending them email after email imploring them to do the right thing and vote no on the climate change bill. In an effort to add a little variety I have sent each letters concerning how I feel even a 5% increase in utilities will negatively impact the state. Each email is a different business- public schools- public colleges and universities- local restaurants- local bars- movie theaters- arts performances(don’t care so much here if you can spend a 100 on a ticket you can spend 105)- grocery stores- convenience stores and on and on. May not have any more effect but just maybe someone will say hey if we increase their cost of doing business they will have to raise their prices. Hmm is that a good thing to do when the economey is in the tank?

Kinda off topic but I was wondering – Murphy – do you ever go to the Boston Pops 4th of July celebration? I always used to watch it first when it was on A&E & lasted about 3 hrs and culminated with those spectacular fireworks – since CBS(owns A&E -crapola) glomed onto it and cut it down to an hour – don’t watch it so much – but I’ve never been to Boston and want to be there for the 4th – is it crazy? hard to get tickets? a place to stay?
My sister’s stepdaughter is married to a guy who is from Boston – actually, she met him there when she was taking classes at Boston U – and I’ve talked to him a little about it but he’s a guy and mostly doesn’t think too much of it – men from mars, women from venus – different brain waves……..

She just hired a new spokesman, so it’s not like this doesn’t line up with what’s going on. And now that she’s gotten “credit” for the natural gas pipeline deal, well…

Of course, there are the alternative, semi-plausible explanations, but they don’t account for the new hire:

* She’s utterly sick of the media spotlight and just wants to be a mom again.

* We haven’t seen the end of this: there’s a scandal involved and she’s stepping down so as not to cloud the integrity of the office.

* She’s tired of having her money sucked up by ethics “scandals.”

But I seriously doubt it.

She’s running in 2012, and she’s using this time in the interim to campaign for candidates in the lower 48, build ties, study up, and refine her message.

Count on it.

God, please let her surround herself with the VERY BEST advisers.

Very interesting and exciting concept of Venus Envy. I would argue that it is a relatively new phenomena in Western culture and this not well-explored. It probably stems from the women’s Lib movement and thus only ageneration of men or so have fully been raised with the idea that women, not men, do indeed control their very survival. I’d argue that before the women’s Lib movement women weren’t at all in control of bringing life into the world and men had much more control of propagation. Since that has changed, men have necessarily fond themselves walking in the wilderness, increasingly angry and mbirtered at women who now control the replication of all genetic material. Thus: Venus envy. Not that I think the current imbalance of reproductive freedom is necessarily right, as I’m an equalist mother of three sons.

I’m just curious about what happened to the sentiment awhile back by so many here that they were going to vote for only women, any woman from now on. I listed several women that I would never vote for at that time for president (Pelosi for example). Anyhow, a great new female or male candidate could emerge in 2012, but I don’t think we should be comparing HRC and Palin. Our first love goes to HRC, hands down, but I’m very open to many other women candidates if HRC does not run and I don’t expect she will. I could be pleaseantly surprised, but I’m not expecting it.

I had a crab feast at my house tonight. (They were incredible and the fireflies put on a better show then any fireworks) 12 people, 11 of them Democrats or Democrats in exile. The women all agreed that Palin, whether or not we liked her politics was a leader. The men all dissed her as not smart enough. I, being the hostess and a PUMA with a big mouth, noted that whether or not we agreed with her politics, Palin was just as smart and as able to be president as was Huckabee or Jeb or Romney The women all agreed the men still can’t get over her women parts.

I was keeping up with her at every opportunity, but it seemed she completely dropped off the radar after November. Considering the fact that she founded “Together4Us”, I thought she would have remained a bit more in the spotlight than she has. That’s all.

If Hillary Clinton had stayed in the Senate and fought against Obama’s enslavement policies she would have my full support in 2012 if she decided to run against him. Instead she made the tradgic mistake of playing party politics and supporting Obama against a man for which she and her husband have displayed nothing but great respect and admiration in the past. I just can’t support those kind of party politics and I don’t see any posibility of her making a sucessful run against Obama. The republicans will just keep hammering at the fact that she and Bill campaigned for The One.
Sure Hillary Clinton is an intellectual and a seasoned professional public servant. I will never forget what she has done throught out her life for children and the Military, and especially for women. Believe me I still defend her against those who try to minimize her achievements. But I really think that she will for ever be viewed as part of the Obama administration from now on.
I don’t see any chance for her to live it down.

I hope Sarah Palin will run as an independent. I think America will be completely ready for her in 2012.
