Just reading the first sentences of the coverage of Palin’s surprise announcement on THIS roundup site makes it clear how unhinged the press is when it comes to Sarah Palin.
Frenzied speculation is running in every different direction, with those on the right not really sure WHAT to make of the move and those on the left mostly losing whatever tiny shred of decency or integrity they had left. Philosophy professors moonlighting on Huffpo by writing articles ridiculing Palin and her “Retardation Platform”??
Really “Liberal Democrats”? Is this what you’ve descended to? Ugh.
Geez, it almost makes feel bad for posting my sarcastic Sarah Palin Must DIE!!!!! piece yesterday.
Even Greta doesn’t seem to know what to make of it. Well, she definitely pulled the rug out from under the Washington press.
Protecting her family and/or hounded from politcs, or priming for a presidential run in 2012? Whatever the truth is, count on the BOIZ and the mainstream media to continue being complete and total jackasses in their coverage of Sarah Palin.

they have no freaking clue what Palin is up to. Perhaps there is some major scandal about to break — but if it were an official scandal, like “embezzlement” or some such there would have been buzz. No one can keep that a secret from insiders and the whole media.
no one knows ANYTHING.
I hope she makes a more detailed statement, maybe sit down and talk with Greta — that way she can make a more clear signal without setting anything in stone. Clearly the media did NOT see this coming. She didn’t say she was leaving politics to spend more time with her family the way they do when there’s a personal problem, so I’m hoping (and praying) that this is NOT a case of her being hounded from public life with humiliation and ridicule.
murphy 07.03.09 at 11:35 pm
Well, Mark Levin knows what he thinks: Palin is running for president.

Juliette 07.03.09 at 11:46 pm
I think Sarah Palin realized that having to be constantly on the defensive against bogus ethics complaints and the medias derengement syndrome would be damaging to her future run for POTUS. If she were rich like the Kennedys or John Kerry $500,000 in legal fees that she has to pay plus all of the travel expences she must pay for her family, since she gave up the Governors private jet wouldn’t be such a problem. It is to much for a woman who has to think about the future of her children, one of whom is disabled.
It is a very sad day for our culture, when a governor with enormously high approval of her constituents is put in the position of having to constantly defend herself. She did the right thing for the people of Alaska as always. They have had to pay over 2 million for these bogus charges against her.
The dirt bags who filed all of these compliants against her should be sent to Guantanamo along with Katie Couric, Tina Fey and David Letterman.

If Palin is going to run for anything, it’s a lot harder without an elected political office. That’s why people didn’t want Hillary to take SOS, she couldn’t raise money. People who run for president are usually personally wealthy like Forbes or Michael Bloomberg.
If the Republican party was going to support her they wouldn’t be dissing her in this horrible and unprecedented manner, with almost no pushback from republican women supporters.
I think the repubs can’t wait to get her and her family out of the limelight so they can focus on Romney or Jeb or some other idiot. Jus sayin’

Murphy, I agree with the running against Obama analogy Palin made. After listening to her speech three times today, I think that she was perfectly clear.
Obats are committed to trying to keeping her down in Alaska while being the Governor. She finished what she came to do and is moving on to a bigger role.
CNN and liberals are trying to make her look bad again…trash talk…think they are spinning their wheels because she is not only stronger than they think but their President is doing his best to tear down this country.
Some people are going to be really upset when they realize that Obama is doing something really bad to them. Apparently they didn’t realize what we have known for over a year.

Recently I had a very long coversation with a couple who supported Obama in the primary and general election. The husband was a little reluctant to admit jus how bad Obama was but the wife articulated very strongly that Obama was a fraud and even more of a Oligarch than George Bush. Her husband didn’t seem to disagree but had to add a little jab at Hillary saying that he was glad she lost because of the way she behaved in the primaries saying that “as far as she knew” Obama wasn’t a muslim.
I told him that the interviewer kept reasking the question until she finally shrugged her shoulders and said-’as far as I know.”
I also proceeded to tell him that in light of the fact that Obama said in an interview that John McCain never questioned his Muslim Faith and that he was photographed bowing to the Saudi King- I think he is mostly to blame for people thinking he is a Muslim.
But to hear a former Obamabot admit that she had been had and that Obama was even worse than George Bush while sitting in an urban elite section of Philadelphia was priceless.

I think Palin decided that she needed her freedom to participate in the national political scene.
“Anchorage Rep. Hawker noted that Palin’s decision to quit “gives her unfettered ability to pursue her economic interests, whether it be a book deal or speeches, that type of thing, without being cluttered by state ethics law.”
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/227/story/71247.html?storylink=omni_popular
From the transcript posted by McClatchy:
“Political operatives descended on Alaska last August, digging for dirt. The ethics law I championed became their weapon of choice. Over the past nine months I’ve been accused of all sorts of frivolous ethics violations – such as holding a fish in a photograph, wearing a jacket with a logo on it, and answering reporters’ questions.
Every one – all 15 of the ethics complaints have been dismissed. We’ve won! But it hasn’t been cheap – the State has wasted THOUSANDS of hours of YOUR time and shelled out some two million of YOUR dollars to respond to “opposition research” – that’s money NOT going to fund teachers or troopers – or safer roads. And this political absurdity, the “politics of personal destruction” … Todd and I are looking at more than half a million dollars in legal bills in order to set the record straight. And what about the people who offer up these silly accusations? It doesn’t cost them a dime so they’re not going to stop draining public resources – spending other peoples’ money in their game.
It’s pretty insane – my staff and I spend most of our day dealing with THIS instead of progressing our state now. I know I promised no more “politics as usual,” but THIS isn’t what anyone had in mind for ALASKA.”
Headclunker 07.04.09 at 12:25 am
So, what IS going on? You know, I have to wonder if the Palin Derangement Syndrome is fueled by the fear that Palin is the kind of leader that they hyped BO to be. I do believe she is a reformer and a maverick. The real deal. That’s why they keep trying to take her down. America sure does need a hero. Even if it has to be a Republican.
Libby 07.04.09 at 12:28 am
“Extreme religious right” is another lie that is used to attack anyone against Obama and company.
I’m gay, a fiscal/small government conservative, and Christian but no one would accuse me of being an extreme Christian. I’m an independent.
I supported Hillary in every way including financially, then I supported McCain. I voted for Dem John Corzine for NJ governor and regretted it within a month. Can’t wait to vote for the Republican candidate for Gov in NJ to get Corzine out. Corzine lied every bit as much as Obama and I never want to see these people working in Government again. Corzine turned on Hillary by giving every NJ delegate to Obama at the DNC…after Hillary won NJ.
I could never, ever support Obama or any of the people who are taking this country down. Corzine woke me up to what was happening in this country and Obama was the worst topping ever. We will be lucky if we, our children, and grandchildren can live through their change and hope.
From now on I will be happy to vote for anyone who can get these people out of office and actually cares about the Constitution, financial sanity, and the people of this country.

2010 elections are coming and republicans will need Sarah Palin to draw crowds at their campaign events. That is what I think she will be doing. If we cannot get rid of the Chris Dodds, Barney Franks, and the Carbon Derivatives speculators in the Senate (Democrats) then being president in 2012 will have limited power.
I say she will run in 2012, after she helps America clean house in 2010.

I don’t care if you’re a Christian. I don’t care about anybody’s religion. I was making a point about the ideological right: anti gay, anti choice, anti tax, anti public school, etc. Many of the ideological right chose Bush because he declared himself “saved”. That sounds like a religious litmus test.
Maybe you could give some insight into why the republican women’s organizations were so silent about the pornographic and hateful attacks on Palin that came from Republican men, like Gingrich (who was much gentler to Obama)?
BillieJo 07.04.09 at 2:10 am

The Obots react to Palin like vampires to Van Helsing. See the hissing spiting rage, but in falsetto.
To run for POTUS now , first she has to raise a BILLION dollars. That is the new standard . Her fundraising tour schedual will be like Micheal Jacksons in the early 80’s. Writing her book will take time. I believe she will campaign for allies in the primaries for 2010.

Building it up from scratch.
What I meant by that was if Obama suceeds in what he is trying to do, by 2012 we will have to rebuild from scratch. America won’t be recognizable by the time 2012 comes along if Obama’s plans get pushed through congress. I would like to get back to the basics that the founding fathers described in the constitution and the federalist papers. Separation of powers would be nice. But Obama will take us so far away from that America.
I just hope he is made to resign before 2012.

The attack on the separation of powers was begun by George Bush and the perennial (since Richard Nixon)powers Cheney and Rumsfeld and their efforts to create a unitary executive with sovereign immunity.
I’m not sure which of Obama’s plans your speaking of: the wars in Iraq, and Af-Pak? NSA privacy invasions? bail-outs of the financial industry? No single payer health option? Those are pretty scary but I don’t think Republicans oppose any of those, do they?

Cape Hatteras,
I don’t see how Palin is going to stay current and viable without holding an office. It’ll be worse to some people that she “gave up” a governorship without being driven from office by scandal.
She has no place to go politically after being governor. Except the presidency and the RP seems to have no interest in promoting her.

The couple I was speaking to about Obama were not my friends just people that a friend of mine had intruduced me to. We had a discussion about Obama and they agreed that he was pretty much Bush on steroids. If you look at Obama’s very crazy upbringing he was spoon fed a lot of very communist views and taught to respect Islam, maybe even practise it. He advocated “spreading the wealth around.” To bad he didn’t tell his poor supporters he would be spreading our wealth around to Wall Street Bankers and Al Gore’s Generation Investments Management.
What ever Obama’s political identity is he does not respect the rule of law nor democracy. Maybe that makes him a dictator.
Call him what you want. I just want to call him me EX-President.

Juliette,
Many repubs call the progressive income tax, estate taxes, etc. “spreading the wealth around”. Demos are more likely to support more government but the corporations have made rather a mess of things on their own and then come to government to bail them out. Seems hypocritical.
Anyway, I think Obama knows about Islam, he lived in an Islamic country. If he respects other people’s religions does that make him one? I live in a “christian” country and am well versed in its doctrines, principles that doesn’t necessarily make me a “practicing” christian. Didn’t you say you lived in the Middle East and knew these people (muslims)? If you don’t mind my asking, which muslim countries did you live in?
I guess I just don’t see the evidence of communism that you do although you apparently also believe he is an “oligarch”.

Got back from dinner tonight. Spent it with a conservative friend of mine who is also a political junkie…anyhow he brought up a good point about today which i found fun and interesting.
Is Sarah Palin the modern day Obi Wan Kenobi. Yes for us entertainment freaks this will have a movie angle but i think it holds true in this point.
As my friend told me Darth Vader is Barrack Obama. The most vile evil piece of shit in the universe. No one could defeat him and no one could stand up to him. But the one who faces him allowed himself to be killed. By doing this his power and influence grew to a height that even Darth Vader aka Obama would have never seen. Obi Wan like Sarah was able to influence, build and direct a new policy which in the end would see the death of Darth Vader. Is this the power that Sarah might have. I mean i sat there in awe but realized that there maybe some truth to this. Sarah can now go out and simply speak as sharply as she wants against Obama. She couldnt do that before because of the Governship. Now her power and voice is unlimited maybe out there influencing the legions of Jedis against Barrack Vader. I thought the whole idea was interesting and only time will tell…….

If the govenment enforsed anti trust laws no corporation would be to big to fail. I was so happy to see Ralph Nader try to block Bill Clinton’s appointment of Steven Breyer who Nader called the anti-anti-trust judge. Unfortunately he was approved and hugh corporations like Exxon-and Mobile continued to merge. Glass-Steagel was repealed during Clinton’s administration. I always agreed that Bill Clinton was republican light. He was my last choice in the democratic primarys when he initially ran for president. I liked Tsongas, then Brown when Tsongas got sick.
I don’t care about party affiliation any more. Parties change over time. Mine sure did. Obama calls him self a democrat, Sarah Palin calls herself a republican. My life long republican Senator Spector just changed from republican to democrat-go figure. I look at the individual and their record, that is why it was easy for me to support McCain-Palin over Obama after Hillary was robbed. I would have perfered Nader but I had to try my best to stop Obama.
Obama learned from Reverend Wright how to use and manipulate the poor and disenfranchised with communist ideology. Not every politicain falls into a particular catagory but what Obama is trying to pull with Crap and Trade will be a redistribution of wealth from middle class up to the uber rich. His Health Care package is a sham. I support the single payer option. I know the republicans do not. But I would rather have health care remain the same than to have the sweetheart deal for Insurance companies and drug companies that Obama is trying to pass.
Obama now wants to tax health care benefits like McCain proposed only without the $5,000. tax rebate. Of course his union cronies will be exempt from that tax. ‘Pay back as usual.
As for your question about my travels. I don’t mind your interest but I just don’t like putting so much personal information- especially specifics about my travels on a web-site. I will tell you that I know Islam very well, and have studied Arabic and spent time in four different Muslim countries .
In one of Obama’s books he said that if the political winds shifted he would stand with his Muslim brothers. He seemed to slip up in an interview with George Stephanopolis and he did bow to the Saudi King, typically something only a Muslim would do.
His speech in Cairo made me sick. Too many democrats are extremely naive about the threat of Islam and have become sympathetic to Jihad, that is why the so called”Chirtian Right” bothers me alot less these days.

Yes it is pretty amazing that the new liberals who defend Islam don’t even realize how they are viewed by Muslims.

I believe in my heart that Obama is a Muslim, I believe he was propped up for the Presidency by the Muslim world. I feel that much money was evaporated during the month of September to ensure the markets would clapse. I have friend who are in Afgan and Iraq and they all believe that the Muslim world has america where it wants us. They believe we are going to be loosing this war and it is becuase obama is a muslim. Call it far fetched but it was the number 1 reason why i am retiring from the Military. I had an extra four years i could serve for an additional 200 dollars a month in my retirement check but will not take it because of my beliefs. people in this country need to wake up and that is muslims ie Islam is a religion that accepts no other faiths and you either convert or die. It is to bad so many people in our country dont view obama for what he is…….

Libby,
I don’t care if you’re a Christian.
You don’t have to care about me at all.
Why in this world would you care about how Republican women reacted when NOW backed Obama? Where did that come from?
NOW is the big Dem backed woman’s organization who should have spoken out long ago on the treatment the Obama camp gave Hillary and Sarah.
I wrote to them and they just kinda slid it all off, like it was no big deal…just like you just did.
I could care less about what you think because my focus is clear.
Obama is the worst president ever and it will take someone who has real strength to get him out of office. Wonder why everyone is picking on Sarah? It is because they know that she is the David who can take this Goliath down. Obama is shaking in his boots because he knows that someone who is smarter than him can take away his playground.
The big problem is, Obama knows nothing about how to run the government and Palin knows everything. He is playing a game and pretends he knows what he is doing and people have bought it.
Palin is the real deal.
Do you really expect me to respond to that slide to another topic which had nothing to do with what I said very clearly?
Puma Bear, I don’t know what your agenda is but you really do not impress me with your attacks. You do not know what you are talking about but you are carrying the party line for Obama. Right wing scary Christians.
Now tell me how Obama is doing a better job taking care of this country.
Tell me how anyone who is a Christian is hateful and scary. Do you think that everyone who is Christian is just like Westboro members who picket military funerals on the basis that they think God allowed those people to be killed because America is allowing gays to live their lives?
Most people know that Westboro is not christian in any sense of the word. They have adopted the word and applied it to themselves, just as Obama and Rev Wright did, but they do not even know what it means. And I don’t think you know what it means either.
Do not talk about things that you do not understand much less jump on other people because you do not understand what they are saying.
Educate yourself, then I might be willing to listen to you.
Or just keep your comments to things that you have knowledge of because you have no idea of why people voted for Bush. Not a clue.

Gov’s Office
State of Alaska > Governor > Executive Column
Palin Announces No Second Term
Lt. Gov. Parnell to be Sworn in July 26, 2009
Hi Alaska, I appreciate speaking directly TO you, the people I serve, as your Governor.
People who know me know that besides faith and family, nothing’s more important to me than our beloved Alaska. Serving her people is the greatest honor I could imagine.
I want Alaskans to grasp what can be in store for our state. We were purchased as a territory because a member of President Abe Lincoln’s cabinet, William Seward, providentially saw in this great land, vast riches, beauty, strategic placement on the globe, and opportunity. He boldly looked “North to the Future”. But he endured such ridicule and mocking for his vision for Alaska, remember the adversaries scoffed, calling this “Seward’s Folly”. Seward withstood such disdain as he chose the uncomfortable, unconventional, but RIGHT path to secure Alaska, so Alaska could help secure the United States.
People who know me know that besides faith and family, nothing’s more important to me than our beloved Alaska.
Alaska’s mission – to contribute to America. We’re strategic IN the world as the air crossroads OF the world, as a gatekeeper of the continent. Bold visionaries knew this – Alaska would be part of America’s great destiny.
Our destiny to be reached by responsibly developing our natural resources. This land, blessed with clean air, water, wildlife, minerals, AND oil and gas. It’s energy! God gave us energy.
So to serve the state is a humbling responsibility, because I know in my soul that Alaska is of such import, for America’s security, in our very volatile world. And you know me by now, I promised even four years ago to show MY independence… no more conventional “politics as usual”.
And we are doing well! My administration’s accomplishments speak for themselves. We work tirelessly for Alaskans.
We aggressively and responsibly develop our resources because they were created to be used to better our world… to HELP people… and we protect the environment and Alaskans (the resource owners) foremost with our policies.
Here’s some of the things we’ve done:
We created a petroleum integrity office to oversee safe development. We held the line FOR Alaskans on Point Thomson – and finally for the first time in decades – they’re drilling for oil and gas.
We have AGIA, the gasline project – a massive bi-partisan victory (the vote was 58 to 1!) – also succeeding as intended – protecting Alaskans as our clean natural gas will flow to energize us, and America, through a competitive, pro-private sector project. This is the largest private sector energy project, ever. THIS is energy independence.
And ACES – another bipartisan effort – is working as intended and industry is publicly acknowledging its success. Our new oil and gas “clear and equitable formula” is so Alaskans will no longer be taken advantage of. ACES incentivizes NEW exploration and development and JOBS that were previously not going to happen with a monopolized North Slope oil basin.
We cleaned up previously accepted unethical actions; we ushered in bi-partisan Ethics Reform.
We also slowed the rate of government growth, we worked with the Legislature to save billions of dollars for the future, and I made no lobbyist friends with my hundreds of millions of dollars in budget vetoes… but living beyond our means today is irresponsible for tomorrow.
We took government out of the dairy business and put it back into private-sector hands – where it should be.
We provided unprecedented support for education initiatives, and with the right leadership, finally filled long-vacant public safety positions. We built a sub-Cabinet on Climate Change and took heat from Outside special interests for our biologically-sound wildlife management for abundance.
We broke ground on the new prison.
And we made common sense conservative choices to eliminate personal luxuries like the jet, the chef, the junkets… the entourage.
And the Lt. Governor and I said “no” to our pay raises. So much success in this first term – and with this success I am proud to take credit… for hiring the right people! Our goal was to achieve a gasline project, more fair oil and gas valuation, and ethics reform in four years. We did it in two. It’s because of the people… good public servants surrounding the Governor’s office, with servants’ hearts and astounding work ethic… THEY are Alaska’s success!
We are doing well! I wish you’d hear MORE from the media of your state’s progress and how we tackle Outside interests – daily – SPECIAL interests that would stymie our state. Even those debt-ridden stimulus dollars that would force the heavy hand of federal government into our communities with an “all-knowing attitude” – I have taken the slings and arrows with that unpopular move to veto because I know being right is better than being popular. Some of those dollars would harm Alaska and harm America – I resisted those dollars because of the obscene national debt we’re forcing our children to pay, because of today’s Big Government spending; it’s immoral and doesn’t even make economic sense!
Another accomplishment – our Law Department protected states’ rights – TWO huge U.S. Supreme Court reversals came down against that liberal Ninth Circuit, deciding in OUR state’s favor over the last two weeks. We’re protectors of our Constitution – federalists protect states’ rights as mandated in 10th amendment.
But you don’t hear much of the good stuff in the press anymore, do you?
Some say things changed for me on August 29th last year – the day John McCain tapped me to be his running-mate – I say others changed.
Let me speak to that for a minute.
Political operatives descended on Alaska last August, digging for dirt.
I know I promised no more “politics as usual,” but THIS isn’t what anyone had in mind for ALASKA.
If I have learned one thing: LIFE is about choices!
And one chooses how to react to circumstances. You can choose to engage in things that tear down, or build up. I choose to work very hard on a path for fruitfulness and productivity. I choose NOT to tear down and waste precious time; but to build UP this state and our country, and her industrious, generous, patriotic, free people!
Life is too short to compromise time and resources… it may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: “Sit down and shut up”, but that’s the worthless, easy path; that’s a quitter’s way out. And a problem in our country today is apathy. It would be apathetic to just hunker down and “go with the flow”.
Nah, only dead fish “go with the flow”.
No. Productive, fulfilled people determine where to put their efforts, choosing to wisely utilize precious time… to BUILD UP.
And there is such a need to BUILD up and FIGHT for our state and our country. I choose to FIGHT for it! And I’ll work hard for others who still believe in free enterprise and smaller government; strong national security for our country and support for our troops; energy independence; and for those who will protect freedom and equality and LIFE… I’ll work for and campaign for those PROUD to be American, and those who are INSPIRED by our ideals and won’t deride them.
I WILL support others who seek to serve, in or out of office, for the RIGHT reasons, and I don’t care what party they’re in or no party at all. Inside Alaska – or Outside Alaska.
But I won’t do it from the Governor’s desk.
I’ve never believed that I, nor anyone else, needs a title to do this – to make a difference… to HELP people. So I choose, for my State and my family, more “freedom” to progress, all the way around… so that Alaska may progress… I will not seek re-election as Governor.
And so as I thought about this announcement that I wouldn’t run for re-election and what it means for Alaska, I thought about how much fun some governors have as lame ducks… travel around the state, to the Lower 48 (maybe), overseas on international trade – as so many politicians do. And then I thought – that’s what’s wrong – many just accept that lame duck status, hit the road, draw the paycheck, and “milk it”. I’m not putting Alaska through that – I promised efficiencies and effectiveness! ? That’s not how I am wired. I am not wired to operate under the same old “politics as usual.” I promised that four years ago – and I meant it.
It’s not what is best for Alaska.
I am determined to take the right path for Alaska even though it is unconventional and not so comfortable.
With this announcement that I am not seeking re-election… I’ve determined it’s best to transfer the authority of governor to Lieutenant Governor Parnell; and I am willing to do so, so that this administration – with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future – can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success.
My choice is to take a stand and effect change – not hit our heads against the wall and watch valuable state time and money, millions of your dollars, go down the drain in this new environment. Rather, we know we can effect positive change outside government at this moment in time, on another scale, and actually make a difference for our priorities – and so we will, for Alaskans and for Americans.
Let me go back to a comfortable analogy for me – sports… basketball. I use it because you’re naïve if you don’t see the national full-court press picking away right now: A good point guard drives through a full court press, protecting the ball, keeping her eye on the basket… and she knows exactly when to pass the ball so that the team can WIN. And I’m doing that – keeping our eye on the ball that represents sound priorities – smaller government, energy independence, national security, freedom! And I know when it’s time to pass the ball – for victory.
I have given my reasons candidly and truthfully… and my last day won’t be for another few weeks so the transition will be very smooth. In fact, we will look to swear Sean in – in Fairbanks at the conclusion of our Governor’s picnics.
I do not want to disappoint anyone with my decision; all I can ask is that you TRUST me with this decision – but it’s no more “politics as usual”.
Some Alaskans don’t mind wasting public dollars and state time. I do. I cannot stand here as your Governor and allow millions upon millions of our dollars go to waste just so I can hold the title of Governor. And my children won’t allow it either. ? Some will question the timing. ? Let’s just say, this decision has been in the works for awhile…
In fact, this decision comes after much consideration, and finally polling the most important people in my life – my children (where the count was unanimous… well, in response to asking: “Want me to make a positive difference and fight for ALL our children’s future from OUTSIDE the Governor’s office?” It was four “yes’s” and one “hell yeah!” The “hell yeah” sealed it – and someday I’ll talk about the details of that… I think much of it had to do with the kids seeing their baby brother Trig mocked by some pretty mean-spirited adults recently.) Um, by the way, sure wish folks could ever, ever understand that we ALL could learn so much from someone like Trig – I know he needs me, but I need him even more… what a child can offer to set priorities RIGHT – that time is precious… the world needs more “Trigs”, not fewer.
My decision was also fortified during this most recent trip to Kosovo and Landstuhl, to visit our wounded soldiers overseas, those who sacrifice themselves in war for OUR freedom and security… we can ALL learn from our selfless Troops… they’re bold, they don’t give up, they take a stand and know that LIFE is short so they choose to NOT waste time. They choose to be productive and to serve something greater than SELF… and to build up their families, their states, our country. These Troops and their important missions – those are truly the worthy causes in this world and should be the public priority with time and resources and NOT this local / superficial wasteful political bloodsport.
May we ALL learn from them!
*((Gotta put First Things First))*
First things first: as Governor, I love my job and I love Alaska. It hurts to make this choice but I am doing what’s best for Alaska. I’ve explained why… though I think of the saying on my parents’ refrigerator that says “Don’t explain: your friends don’t need it and your enemies won’t believe you anyway.”
But I have given my reasons… no more “politics as usual” and I am taking my fight for what’s right – for Alaska – in a new direction.
Now, despite this, I don’t want any Alaskan dissuaded from entering politics after seeing this REAL “climate change” that began in August… no, we NEED hardworking, average Americans fighting for what’s right! And I will support you because we need YOU and YOU can effect change, and I can too on the outside.
We need those who will respect our Constitution where government’s supposed to serve from the BOTTOM UP, not move toward this TOP DOWN big government take-over… but rather, will be protectors of individual rights – who also have enough common sense to acknowledge when conditions have drastically changed and are willing to call an audible and pass the ball when it’s time so the team can win! And that is what I’m doing!
Remember Alaska… America is now, more than ever, looking North to the Future. It’ll be good. So God bless you, and from me and my family – to ALL Alaska – you have my heart.
And we will be in the capable hands of our Lieutenant Governor, Sean Parnell. And Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will assume the role of Lieutenant Governor. And it is my promise to you that I will always be standing by, ready to assist. We have a good, positive agenda for Alaska.
In the words of General MacArthur said, “We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”

Regarding the last of Sarah’s statements as posted in #124: IMHO,it absolutely points to Bill Clinton’s oft-repeated advice: If you’re getting deeper into the hole, quit digging. I’m hoping that BC, HRC are joining SP to restore this republic to it’s proper functionality.
Don’t forget that BC is helping Carolyn Maloney (NY Rep slighted by appointment of Gilliland) raise funds. That is also a bit out-of-the-box thinking.
As some said on Venus Envy post, it is a dream. If you can’t have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?

Palin in 2012!

Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska announced yesterday that she is resigning and will not seek a second term as governor. Many conservatives are characterizing this as an abdication of responsibility and a failure of will. Quin Hillyer wrote in the American Spectator that “Sarah Palin’s resignation is an appalling dereliction of duty and a highly cynical move to set herself up for a presidential run for which she is manifestly unqualified.”
I vehemently disagree. She did not quit. From what I saw of her speech before Fox inexplicably cut it off (after seven days of wall-to-wall Michael Jackson coverage), this is not a woman who is retiring or “cutting and running,” as Hillyer put it. She is getting into the fight to save America. Palin committed herself to fighting “for our state and our country, and campaign(ing) for those who believe in smaller government, free enterprise, strong national security, support for our troops and energy independence.” Obama’s treasonous presidency has made this struggle necessary. Palin, like all patriotic Americans, is shocked by what is happening. Obama is destroying this country. She knows it. We all know it. We need a leader.
Palin is that leader. On Friday she assumed the mantle. She delivered a campaign speech. She spoke on the eve of Independence Day about the sacrifices great Americans have made, and what our Founding Fathers fought and died for. Without naming Obama, she went after his disastrous policies, saying that “living beyond our means today is irresponsible for tomorrow,” and noting that as governor she had “vetoed debt-ridden stimulus dollars.” She believes in and wants to fight for free enterprise, small government and national security.
Get the definitive biography of Sarah Palin – “the hockey mom who turned the political establishment upside down”
And is she really “manifestly unqualified” to be president? I am unmoved by assertions that Palin needs more foreign policy experience or more experience of any kind. She has the key ingredient to great leadership: common sense. I am not concerned that she won’t get up to speed on the nitty gritty details of national and international issues. Her thinking is sound. She has common sense, a moral compass and a very definite understanding of good and evil.
And best of all, she is not a product of the limp-wristed, spineless GOP of the Age of Obama. There is a struggle in the Republican Party for the heart and soul of our future: the RINOs (McCain, Romney, etc.) versus true individualists and conservatives like Palin. She is outside the box. She has grit. She has guts. That is why she so frightens the RINOs, leftopaths and freedom haters. The Democrats despise Palin because she best embodies everything they are not. She is principled, true, hard working, smart and honorable. She embodies all that is good and fine and decent – you couldn’t have written a more charismatic, honorable character in a Victor Hugo novel.
Because of this, the left and the RINOs like Hillyer, out of their hatred of the good for being good, will do anything and say anything to destroy this woman. She has already been mercilessly attacked. Those on the right who have suffered the slings and arrows of the vile left smear machine know that the more they throw, the greater you are. The more vile, disgusting and outrageous the smear, the more envious and afraid you know the destroyers are.
And in Palin’s case they have stopped at nothing. An army of political operatives filed 15 spurious ethics charges against her, draining the public resources. She and her staff spent huge amounts of time and incurred over half a million in legal fees fighting charges that were ultimately dismissed. And the same shills who laud Obama for dropping a cool $100,000 on dinner and a show with Meesh in New York City are aghast that Sarah spent $150,000 of donated bucks on her wardrobe for the presidential campaign. Now the Democrats and their propaganda machine, the dinosaur media, will continue to attempt to destroy and marginalize this wonder woman.
New media better pick up the slack – and make the point that this move will allow Palin to spend more time in the lower 48 states, where we urgently need her voice, without the left accusing her of neglecting her duties as governor.

Your grasp of political issues is exceptional. If you ever decide to run for political office, announce it on the blog. I’ll move BACK to Philly to vote for you.
The current leadership of the Dem Party has obviously taken an “If-you-can’t-beat-em, join-em” approach to islamofascism, and, I believe this is a much graver concern and threat to the nation than the televangelist audience or Christian fundamentalism. In fact, I think those populations will be surprised to learn that Repub leadership is working hand in glove with the Dems. They’ve been sold out too.

I know that WND isn’t liked here. I really think, though, that this statement that WND has, written by Pamela Geller (Atlas Shrugs), about Palin’s statement is VERY good. I am in total agreement with what Geller is saying in it. I’ll add one thought, though. I think that right now a lot of people are disgusted not only with Obama and the dems, but they are also angry against the republicans. Palin, who is “her own person”, is (as Geller states) not popular with the “good old boys” of the republican party. I think she is the “right person at the right time”. Somebody who is neither “establishment republican” nor democrat. She is, quite simply, pro America regardless of party. She stated such in her speech yesterday. Palin is as real American as hot dogs, baseball, apple pies, and Chevrolet (didn’t there used to be an ad like that, LOL?). Here is the link to Geller’s post in WND about Palin’s speech:

I think that many in here will agree with many of the points made in it as I did. Close your eyes to the place it was posted (WND) and read it just for what it is saying please. I did and was pleasantly surprised.

Palin didn’t quit…. she is passing the ball to get in better position to make a slam dunk !!!!!!!!
“Life is too short to compromise time and resources… it may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: “Sit down and shut up”, but that’s the worthless, easy path; that’s a quitter’s way out. And a problem in our country today is apathy. It would be apathetic to just hunker down and “go with the flow”.
Nah, only dead fish “go with the flow
And there is such a need to Build up and Fight for our state and our country. I choose to Fight for it! And I’ll work hard for others who still believe in free enterprise and smaller government; strong national security for our country and support for our troops; energy independence; and for those who will protect freedom and equality and Life… I’ll work for and campaign for those Proud to be American, and those who are Inspired by our ideals and won’t deride them.
In fact, this decision comes after much consideration and prayer, and finally polling the most important people in my life – my children (where the count was unanimous… well, in response to asking: “want me to make a positive difference and fight for All our children’s future from Outside the Governor’s office?” It was four “yes’s” and one “hell yeah!” The “hell yeah” sealed it – and someday I’ll talk about the details of that..

call me crazy, but it seems you are attacking PUMAbear, not the other way around. It seems that the Republican party was taken over by people like Reed (very scary!!) and Gingrich is such a disgusting sexist – how could he attack her? Where was his party loyalty? Oh, his dick got in the way, that’s right, and the fact that she doesn’t need a dick to be powerful – in other words, his Venus Envy. Brilliant, Murphy.
PUMAbear is probably right, sadly, for Sarah Palin. Could be, however, that she can raise money from her book sales. It is definitely not politics as usual for her to resign as governor and still hope to raise the money and garner the support for a presidential bid. As a maverick, she is probably the only one who could make that work.
I don’t know enough about her views to say Palin 2012 yet, but Goddess knows I will probably vote for anyone against Obama.
Today is a sad day for me. Here it is our nation’s birthday, and I feel our Constitution has been so trampled upon that we look nothing like the dream of 1776. It is crushing how much misogyny limits us as a species and how this experiment of equality is really about genocide against Native people, enslaving the African race, and keeping a foot on the neck of everyone with two X chromosomes.
The bankers’ bailout and the crap and trade bill, the health care scam – Obama’s hope and change is the smelliest bullshit ever served, and people are still eating it. WTF???? He is the Manchurian candidate. And the press has utterly failed us.
Happy INDEPENDENCE day. Let’s cherish it by continuing to use our First Amendment rights.

I just emailed Governor Palin. I used the “elections” topic.
HP, what you said. HRC is just being used to clean up after Obama, just like women are always expected to do. I would love to see HRC in 2012. I can’t imagine how she can do it because she is in Obama’s cabinet and she has consistently been loyal to a party that has fucked her over.
HopePuma 07.04.09 at 11:04 am
By the way, I think Palin told us exactly what she plans to do:
“And there is such a need to BUILD up and FIGHT for our state and our country.
I WILL support others who seek to serve, in or out of office, for the RIGHT reasons, and I don’t care what party they’re in or no party at all.”
She is going to go around building up America again, supporting those who are running for AMERICA regardless of party. In other words, she is not going to go with the flow like a dead fish, but go AGAINST the “flow”.
I don’t think Palin is the type to sit by the fireplace and knit booties. She is a leader. She wouldn’t be content to sit by the sidelines while our country is being torn down piece by piece. In some way she is going to lead to bring people together to bring our country back.
She also said: “My choice is to take a stand and effect change – not hit our heads against the wall and watch valuable state time and money, millions of your dollars, go down the drain in this new environment. Rather, we know we can effect positive change outside government at this moment in time, on another scale, and actually make a difference for our priorities – and so we will, for Alaskans and for Americans.”
Right now Palin IS America; or at least, the America is used to be and should be. Pioneers, strong and independent with principles that they stand tall on. I think that’s why she purposely chose to make this announcement on Independence Day weekend too. She is picking up the banner to bring America back. Maybe in congress, maybe running for POTUS, maybe just behind the scenes bringing people together against Obama. I don’t know. But she made it very clear in her speech that she is upset at what is happening in America and is going to fight, not as a republican but as an AMERICAN (“regardless of party or no party at all”). Somehow.
We may have to wait until July 24 to see her do that though. She is still governor until July 23 and just may wait until then to start her “new career choice”. But she is a “complete woman” and wouldn’t be happy just doing nothing sitting at home with the kiddies while the country is going to hell in a handbasket.

I almost wrote a correction because I definitely will NEVER vote Obama. What I meant is that I want to know more before I support her for President, I don’t mean that it is within the realm of possibility that I will actually vote for Obama. Just writing that makes me want to puke.
In 2008, I voted Nader. My county was going McCain no matter how I voted. If Nader runs again, I may vote for him again.
Dragonfly 07.04.09 at 11:08 am
HopePuma,
Actually, if she did it would give me hope. She said she came to this decision after visiting our troops, people Obama couldn’t find time for during his campaign (another reason I hate him). Maybe she is galvanized to fight – and she can do it ONLY as an Independent. Maybe she learned from the path HRC did NOT take, the path we begged her to take.
Keep up the good ideas. I need cheering up today.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 33% of the nation’s voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-five percent (35%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -2. This is the third straight day the Approval Index has been below zero (see trends).
A Rasmussen video report notes that 42% now give the President good or excellent marks for handling the economy . That’s his lowest rating to date.
HopePuma 07.04.09 at 11:13 am
Dragonfly, you are not alone in that. I think many people (including myself) would love to see her run as an Independent. Right now everybody is ready to puke at BOTH parties (including myself) and I think the time is right for somebody who runs as an American first instead of “party first”. She would get universal support from all sides of the aisle IMHO. It just might happen, since the republican leadership has basically thrown her over for Romney (or so it seems). I sure hope so. That would be a REAL Independence Day party!!!

Some “snips” from what Palin’s successor said about her:
“Alaskan Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, who will succeed Gov. Sarah Palin after she leaves office later this month, called Palin Alaska’s greatest gift to the United States on Saturday.”
‘ Parnell said he accepted that others might see the governor’s resignation in a different light than he does.
“She’s accomplished more in these two and a half years than most governors accomplish in one or two terms,” he said. “Our governor has been a great governor. She is going to be Alaska’s and is Alaska’s greatest gift to our country.” ‘

So what are your conclusions on Sarah? I have no idea what to think about it unless she has been told by her party that she doesn’t have the money nor enough backing yet to win over her party and has to ‘pay her dues’ to getting others to win in 2010 before they will back her if she runs in 2012.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO PUMAS EVERYWHERE!!!
Link to The Declaration of Independence and other important documents of American freedom! Please read the actual words of the Declaration. We are in very much the same situation vis a vis our current Congress and Executive Branch as the colonists were vis a vis the King of Great Britain. Perhaps it’s time PUMAs and all Americans concerned about the continual erosion of our freedoms begin to think in a similar direction? http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/declaration_transcript.html
I thought this line particularly apropos re BO: “A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.”
I’m as stunned as everyone else re Sarah Palin’s announcement. But, i interpret her announcement and its timing as her personal ‘declaration of independence.’ I’m very hopeful that this indicates she will be campaigning hard for any GOP candidates in 2010 who offer a viable, common sense, public service spirited, pro everyday American approach to the current ‘political aristocracy’ that used to be the Democratic Party. I’m also very hopeful that Sarah Palin’s announcement indicates she will be campaigning hard for the Presidency in 2012. We need the same no-nonsense, pragmatic, public service spirited approach she used to lead Alaska in the White House to lead this country out of the quagmire created by the past 8 and a half years of recklessness. It’s time to reclaim our country and the principles of ‘government of, by and for the people,’ and ‘government deriving its just powers from the consent of the governed’ as envisioned by the courageous leaders who founded this democratic republic.

that site freaks me out. AS IF Obama is an FDR and how hypocritical in light of how this situation is not supposed to be called a depression, yet as in the depression, Obama needs four terms. Fuck no, he does not! We need to watch that site and make sure they do not get anywhere with that idea. Executive power is already beyond what the founders envisioned – just think what would be left of the “branches” of government after 4 terms? A few diseased twigs, maybe.
Swannie 07.05.09 at 12:37 pm
here are a few of my thoughts on SARAH PALIN …
first of all how many women in the entire world have her name recognition and her popularity ?? can anyone name ten off the top of their head? She has the same kind of charisma that Princess DIANA had , and she is not going to go away anytime soon .
I think the first thing she could do is put her prodigious power toward calling the press and public on the abuse of her children , and make it completely and unequivocally unacceptable to continue to use her children or any children as targets in the media . Hell, I would even seek a law in that regard , the same way children are protected from sexual abuse. No child should be subjected to abuse in the press, for political or any other reason .
I would say , why it has been allowed to go this far is beyond my understanding ; but unfortunately it is not. Evidently even child abuse is ok if you are a political opponent of the current administration.
After that , after protecting her children … for Sarah , the sky is the limit , because just as the public cuold not get their fill of DIANA , they will not tire of Sarah , as they already have of Bo and Mo ( boy that is gonna tick them off too LOL ).

Could it be, Juliette, that you are mistaken about Obama’s “prayer” position. The figure you were describing was, after all, just a wax figure of Obama produced by Disneyland. You could still be wrong about it even if you’ve lived in 4 unnamed Islamic countries and have gone to the trouble to study Arabic.
