Seems like a trending topic today. Hal Turner, right-wing blogger and internet radio host, was arrested for inciting violence against three judges by publishing their personal information on his blog and writing they “deserve to be killed.” Holy smokes. Some may have debated whether jackasses like Bill O’Reilly and Ralph Reed were partially responsible for the murder of Dr. Tiller (Not me. I think it’s patently obvious that O’Reilly and Reed have blood on their hands.) But no one can defend Turner’s inciteful rhetoric.

On the other hand, did those who condemned O’Reilly after Tiller’s murder also scream bloody murder when a mainstream magazine (Sorry if it offends you (it offends me too), but Playboy IS a mainstream magazine.) publishes an article calling for the rape of conservative women, or when Sandra Bernhardt threatens Sarah Palin with a racist promise that she’ll be gang-raped by “black brothers” if she visits New York City?

Anyway, the hypocrisy of the so-called Left notwithstanding, this is pretty bad:

“Once an aspiring politician, Mr. Turner has become a controversial blogger and Internet radio host who has attracted attention from civil rights monitoring groups for his anti-immigrant and anti-Semitic pronouncements, and from authorities in Connecticut, where he was charged earlier this month with inciting violence against state lawmakers.”

(h/t danceswithpumas)

But speaking of bloggers who are only bad in the good sense of the word, Cinie is in fine fettle today:

“I mean, I believe in giving credit where credit is due, so, I have no problem unequivocally declaring Baracko Bama, King of Jabberwockilicious Doublespeak.  Take, for example, this doozy of an example of talking loud and saying nothing.  At yesterday’s stage-managed Kiss Up to the Pissed Off Gay Community Meeting on the Downlow, which may, or may not have been exclusively attended by real LGBT activists, since an unspecified number of them were flown in from Chicago, and they were all ushered in and out through the back door, the Spokemodel-In-Chief had this to say:

“I suspect that by the time this administration is over, I think you guys will have pretty good feelings about the Obama administration,” the president said.

Oh, be still my heart.”

In Crap and Tax news, Puma.SF directs us to this news that Friends of the Earth is opposed to the Waxman-Markey Cap and Trade bill on the environmental (or lack thereof) merits.

If you missed yesterday’s PROWL, catch up HERE, or do it again! Our Senators worry about us if we don’t check in every day!

And if you missed this absolute must read by Matt Taibbi on Goldman Sachs and their involvement in the latest Cap and Trade swindle, read the whole thing HERE. Here’s a snippet:

BUBBLE #6 – GLOBAL WARMING
Fast-Forward to today. It’s early June in Washington, D.C. Barack Obama, a popular young politician whose leading private campaign donor was an investment bank called Goldman Sachs – its employees paid some $981,000 to his campaign – sits in the White House. Having seamlessly navigated the political minefield of the bailout era, Goldman is once again back to its old business, scouting out loopholes in a new government-created market with the aid of a new set of alumni occupying key government jobs.

AS ENVISIONED BY GOLDMAN, THE FIGHT TO STOP GLOBAL WARMING WILL BECOME A “CARBON MARKET” WORTH $1 TRILLION A YEAR.

Gone are Hank Paulson and Neel Kashkari; in their place are Treasury chief of staff Mark Patterson and CFTC chief Gary Gensler, both former Goldmanites. (Gensler was the firm’s co-head of finance) And instead of credit derivatives or oil futures or mortgage-backed CDOs, the new game in town, the next bubble, is in carbon credits – a booming trillion-dollar market that barely even exists yet, but will if the Democratic Party that it gave $4,452,585 to in the last election manages to push into existence a groundbreaking new commodities bubble, disguised as an “environmental plan,” called cap-and-trade.

The new carbon-credit market is a virtual repeat of the commodities-market casino that’s been kind to Goldman, except it has one delicious new wrinkle: If the plan goes forward as expected, the rise in prices will be government-mandated. Goldman won’t even have to rig the game. It will be rigged in advance.

Here’s how it works: If the bill passes; there will be limits for coal plants, utilities, natural-gas distributors and numerous other industries on the amount of carbon emissions (a.k.a. greenhouse gases) they can produce per year. If the companies go over their allotment, they will be able to buy “allocations” or credits from other companies that have managed to produce fewer emissions. President Obama conservatively estimates that about $646 billions worth of carbon credits will be auctioned in the first seven years; one of his top economic aides speculates that the real number might be twice or even three times that amount.

The feature of this plan that has special appeal to speculators is that the “cap” on carbon will be continually lowered by the government, which means that carbon credits will become more and more scarce with each passing year. Which means that this is a brand-new commodities market where the main commodity to be traded is guaranteed to rise in price over time. The volume of this new market will be upwards of a trillion dollars annually; for comparison’s sake, the annual combined revenues of an electricity suppliers in the U.S. total $320 billion.

Goldman wants this bill. The plan is (1) to get in on the ground floor of paradigm-shifting legislation, (2) make sure that they’re the profit-making slice of that paradigm and (3) make sure the slice is a big slice. Goldman started pushing hard for cap-and-trade long ago, but things really ramped up last year when the firm spent $3.5 million to lobby climate issues. (One of their lobbyists at the time was none other than Patterson, now Treasury chief of staff.)”

DO read the whole thing. But be sure you have plenty of THIS on hand for when you’re done. Oh, and Matt Taibbi is a bona-fide, card-carrying Liberal. His bestselling book, The Great Derangement, had entire chapters on the insanity of the far-right religious maniacs who form the base of the Republican Party in many parts of the country. His scorn for politics runs in every direction, however, and there are no sacred donkeys in his cosmology. Just like in ours.

Journalist Files Charges against WHO and UN for Bioterrorism and Intent to Commit Mass Murder

(NaturalNews) As the anticipated July release date for Baxter’s A/H1N1 flu pandemic vaccine approaches, an Austrian investigative journalist is warning the world that the greatest crime in the history of humanity is underway.

Jane Burgermeister has recently filed criminal charges with the FBI against the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations (UN), and several of the highest ranking government and corporate officials concerning bioterrorism and attempts to commit mass murder.

She has also prepared an injunction against forced vaccination which is being filed in America. These actions follow her charges filed in April against Baxter AG and Avir Green Hills Biotechnology of Austria for producing contaminated bird flu vaccine, alleging this was a deliberate act to cause and profit from a pandemic.

We’ll Need to Raise Taxes Soon

Expect Congress to seriously consider a value-added tax.
ROGER C. ALTMAN

We all know the recent and bitter history of tax struggles in Washington, let alone Mr. Obama’s pledge to exempt those earning less than $250,000 from higher income taxes. This suggests that, possibly next year, Congress will seriously consider a value-added tax (VAT). A bipartisan deficit reduction commission, structured like the one on Social Security headed by Alan Greenspan in 1982, may be necessary to create sufficient support for a VAT or other new taxes.

This challenge may be the toughest one Mr. Obama faces in his first term. Fortunately, the new president is enormously gifted. That’s important, because it is no longer a matter of whether tax revenues must increase, but how.

Mr. Altman, founder and chairman of Evercore Partners, was deputy secretary of the Treasury in the first Clinton administration.

I am happy to see great interest in the story of Kevin Murray’s case against Geithner and The Fed. concerning Shar-iah compliant banking and A.I.G.
The legal firm representing Murray is THOMAS MOORE LAW

http://www.thomasmore.org

they do not charge for services and survive on private donations.

Now before anybody freaks out. This is a very Christian orginization and they are involved with pro-life issues.
As for me, that is not a problem because Obama is far worse than anything I have witness on the right side of the political spectrum.

A US army recruitment officer was murdered by an American who was converted to Islam by a prision Imam. N.Y. Times and MSM buried the story, and PBS promotes a documentary, New Muslim Cool which endears a Puerto Rican rapper-Imam who was fired from his prison Imam position because of an F.B.I. investigation against him. Has anybody blamed the prison Imam who converted the murderer of an Army Resruitment officer for this crime? NO!
As I have written, I won’t allow the abortion issue complicate what I am trying to accomplish, and that is IMPEACHMENT of Barak O’Burka. Abortion will never be illegal in this country; well not unless Shar-iah law takes over America. So called Right wingers like Sarah Palin and John McCain have been more pro-choice in their appointment and support for competent judges who are pro-choice then Bullshit Obama has been. I won’t fall into the same trap as would be McCain supports who were scared away from Sarah Palin because of her religious beliefs. I have bigger concerns right know, so I will support the Tomas More Law firm and be a diligent watchdog over Kevin Murray’s well being.

I can soooo picture Sarah Bernhardt and Jeanenne Garofalo rapping to the misogynic lyrics of Ludicrois and Jayzee.

Hi everyone,
current issue of Glamour mag (the one w/Taylor Swift on the cover, go Taylor) has a great story about women who were serving in Iraq. They got sick of duty and missed “girly” things like dressing up, & bubblebaths. Glamour gave them makeovers when they got out and it was a fun read.

One person said simply exhaling as she got off the plane made her realize how much fear she had had while in Iraq.

Go, girls! We PUMA’s should do a supportive prowl for women stationed over there.

With Something for Everyone, Climate Bill Passed
By JOHN M. BRODER

WASHINGTON — As the most ambitious energy and climate-change legislation ever introduced in Congress made its way to a floor vote last Friday, it grew fat with compromises, carve-outs, concessions and out-and-out gifts intended to win the votes of wavering lawmakers and the support of powerful industries.

The deal making continued right up until the final minutes, with the bill’s co-author Representative Henry A. Waxman, Democrat of California, doling out billions of dollars in promises on the House floor to secure the final votes needed for passage.

The bill was freighted with hundreds of pages of special-interest favors, even as environmentalists lamented that its greenhouse-gas reduction targets had been whittled down.

Some of the prizes were relatively small, like the $50 million hurricane research center for a freshman lawmaker from Florida.

Re: Crap and Tax, & Goldman Sachs, here’s a similar story from just 7 years ago,

“On September 20, 2002, Bank of America filed a request with FERC for permission to trade wholesale energy, like an investment bank (or Enron). It had already been trading natural gas and oil since 1989, and had even hired power trader Joe Graham from Enron. They wanted FERC to waive the rule preventing them from loaning money to public utilities and acquiring their debt or equity securities at the same time.

Arthur Levitt, SEC head during the Clinton years and author of “Take on the Street,” warned participants at an early 2002 Goldman Sachs conference that the practice of loan tying in the banking industry was getting worse.

One year later, during Senate hearings that confirmed his selection to head the SEC, William H. Donaldson swore he would “stamp out tying.” His words came during the witch hunts for scam research analysts, so the comparison was meant to be a serious promise.

To date, Donaldson has done nothing, however, to catch or curtail the loan-tying activity of banks…Donaldson’s speech was really a bunch of empty talk designed to keep the issue at bay, by pretending to address it, until it was overwhelmed by a war in Iraq.”

* “The fact is that the only real remedy for loan tying is what the Glass-Steagall Act did: separate lending business from issuance business.”

“During 2002, as corporate defaults reached levels last seen in the Great Depreession and as scandals piled up, commercial banks tried hard to dodge accusations that they had recklessly tied loans and credit facilities to other issuance and investment banking business…None of the senators who voted to repeal the act (Glass-Steagall) appeared to expect a tide of loan tying and the associated debt problems it caused, nor the rush of scandals that tanked companies faster than they could repay much of that debt.”

Today I saw a report on Fox News showing herds of ACORN servants protesting banks trying to get them to lend the money that we tax payers gave them. The guest speaker against ACORN noted that the infamous Herb and Marion Sandler had before hired ACORN protestors to cause problems at the banks with which they were competing.

I see an opportunity here as these ACORN servants have been used and abused by the Obama administration and C.O.I.. I’ve watched several interviews with former ACORN employees of color who compared the upper management at ACORN to plantation masters, noting that all members of upper managment are white.

If anybody know of a bank where these protestors could be found, I thought it would be great to drive by and just shout out “YOU’VE BEEN USED” or “DRANK THE KOOL AIDE SUCKER.”
The dirty dealings of Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and their Messiah Barak O’Burka has hurt these poor people the most. The ones who still allow themselves to be used need a wake up call.
Maybe some potential there for newly enlightened PUMAS.

Learn from France — and consider banning the burka

By Christopher Hitchens

Wednesday, July 1st 2009, 4:00 AM

Last week French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced his support for legislation to ban the burka, the dark, heavy and not-too-comfortable garment worn by many Muslim women. The question arises: Is this forcible French secularism run amok, or a prohibition that Americans, who often believe we have struck a better balance between church and state, might entertain?

I would say the latter.

A sign on the door of my bank in Washington politely but firmly asks me not to enter the precincts if I am wearing a hood, a cap with a visor pulled down or any other garment that prevents the staff and the other customers from seeing my face. As far as I am aware, no suit for discrimination has been filed against this branch of the bank at least: Most people know without having to have it explained to them that a person entering such premises with a mask of any kind has incurred a presumption – slight but no less definite for all that – of noninnocence.

Of course you would have to be crazy to try to rob a bank while wearing a burka, even if you were a heavily armed man: The whole point of the garment is that it weighs you down, restricts your movements and abolishes your peripheral vision. It’s like being condemned to view the world through the slit of a mailbox.

A Forecast With Hope Built In
By DAVID LEONHARDT
WASHINGTON
In the weeks just before President Obama took office, his economic advisers made a mistake. They got a little carried away with hope.

To make the case for a big stimulus package, they released their economic forecast for the next few years. Without the stimulus, they saw the unemployment rate — then 7.2 percent — rising above 8 percent in 2009 and peaking at 9 percent next year. With the stimulus, the advisers said, unemployment would probably peak at 8 percent late this year.

We now know that this forecast was terribly optimistic. The jobless rate has already reached 9.4 percent. On Thursday, the Labor Department will announce the latest number, for June, and forecasters are expecting it to rise further. In concrete terms, the difference between the situation that the Obama advisers predicted and the one that has come to pass is about 2.5 million jobs. It’s as if every worker in the city of Los Angeles received an unexpected layoff notice.

a jobless recovery is when our GDP stops contracting and starts growing — when companies start posting gains and profits and plans to build things again

BUT

the unemployment rate doesnt go down, firms dont hire lots of new workers.

We’ve lost, what, like 5 MILLION jobs since obama was elected? If, during the recovery we only regain a couple million jobs, that’s a jobless recovery.

offshoring and raising prices etc are ways for companies to make more money without hiring more Americans.

from Yellen’s remarks:

“Finally, developments in the labor market suggest it could take several years to return to full employment. During this recession, an unusually high proportion of layoffs have been permanent as opposed to temporary, meaning workers won’t get called back when conditions improve.”

If you’re not a Medicare recipient, your parents probably are, or soon will be. And you yourself will be on Medicare eventually.

That’s a good reason to pay attention as Congress debates an overhaul of America’s health insurance system — because this debate is inevitably a debate over Medicare, the federal government’s biggest health spending program at $500 billion a year.

Hi Persephone:

regarding Maloney, it’s not good news,

When two good dems, fight for one seat, the GOP usually
ends up the victor, because the dems SPLIT the support.

Maloney HAS NO BUSINESS running agains Gillibrand—
She’s a good SENATOR—-Maloney is JEALOUS—and IMMATURE

She won’t get my vote.
