obama_fail

If these aren’t enough reasons for making sure obama is a One-Term Wonder, I don’t know what WILL convince our liberal friends that obama never deserved their trust or love. Remember, even George W. Bush, at the nadir of his popularity, still retained the approval of 28% of voters.

OBAMA IS

  • SPYING on Americans as much, if not more, than W did.
  • MORE SECRETIVE than Dick Cheney about who is visiting the White House. Though it’s pretty easy to surmise that it was the executives of the big financial institutions (the ones who not only wrecked our economy but also donated more than $100 MILLION Dollars to obama’s election selection campaign) who came calling last week to tell obama how to write the regulations which will soon be, ahem, “regulating” these dudes.
  • RATIONING HEALTH CARE, TAXING HEALTH BENEFITS and keeping a PUBLIC OPTION OFF THE TABLE because the health insurance industry (which donated $17 MILLION Dollars to his election selection campaign AND $11 MILLION Dollars to the Senators on the Committee tasked with reforming health care) told him a public option would be unfair competition to their for-profit business model of getting rich by letting people die.
  • (And before any Republican ideologues start raising the specter of Harry and Louise, remember this: we already HAVE rationed health care for crying out loud. How the hell do you think the private insurers protect and increase profits? They do it by RATIONING health care to people like Robin Beaton and Max. When I have to wait SIX WEEKS to see an orthopedist AND my doctor won’t order a cat scan of my shoulder because of “cost controlling” that means my health care is BEING RATIONED. But not in order to spread the care equitably among the 300 million of us Americans who need to share; the ONLY reason for the rationing of health care that we ALREADY HAVE is to make very rich corporations, and their very rich major shareholders EVEN RICHER.)
  • MORE HOMOPHOBIC than Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney, and George W. Bush combined. His pathetic attempt to hoodwink the gay and lesbian community with a meaningless crumb, tossed out at the last minute to prevent a FUNDRAISER from falling apart makes his already obvious penchant for pandering look that much more venal.

Read THIS to learn more about how angry the LGBT community with obama. And THIS.

UPDATE: WOW. Was just searching the intertubes for the LGBT Leadership Council contacts and came across THIS blog post from August 9, 2007. That’s TWO FULL Years ago. Holy Smokes. This Obama Movement was being planned for a VERY long time. The blogger, Bil Browning, was excited because the Obama Campaign announced the formation of an “LGBT Leadership Council.” He was pretty happy, noting that the Campaign had even put up an “Obama Pride” page on its website. Sorry Bil, that Obama Pride page (see? It’s ALWAYS about obama. Always.) was just a cynical ploy to get you to give him money. You almost figured it out, even way back then. In your post, you noted that, “Unfortunately, the press release we were sent can’t be found anywhere on the site.” Huh. I wonder WHY that might have been Bil.

Dear Mr. Petrillo,

How dare the DNC and the Obama Administration ask the LGBT Community for donations?

I am a member of Puma PAC (www.pumapac.org) and a proud supporter of full equal rights for EVERY AMERICAN citizen regardless of gender or sexual orientation. We were concerned about Donnie McClurkin and Pastor Warren, angry about the administration’s silence on Prop Hate, frustrated by the inaction on DADT, and now we are rightfully OUTRAGED by Obama’s despicable defense of DOMA, in which he linked same sex marriage to INCEST and CHILD ABUSE. Yesterday’s meaningless attempt at damage control in the form of a toothless, meaningless presidential memo on relocation benefits (which will be TAXABLE, of course) exposes the true cynicism at the heart of Obama’s “fierce advocacy” for the LGBT community.

I will not only NOT CONTRIBUTE ONE PENNY to the DNC until this administration stops treating our community with contempt, I am asking everyone I know to join me in BOYCOTTING YOUR FUNDRAISER and calling attention to the HYPOCRISY of the current Democratic Party Leaders.

Sincerely,
Your Name
Puma PAC Member (www.pumapac.org)

First again – repost from downstairs

Repubs need to change their party big time if they want any of us – I don’t want the government having anything to do with my body – so back off you zealous fanatics over abortion – I also don’t care if men marry women, women marry women or men marry women or women marry men – tried marriage twice and believe it’s overrated – as far as their bibical crap is concerned they need to recheck – egyptians (around way before their bibical messiah & the current resurrection) married their fathers, their brothers, their sisters, etc. and everyone talks about how great their civilization was – if they want marriage to be between a man & a woman – then do it – but don’t force your frickin’ beliefs on the rest of the people who don’t believe that. I want smaller government – jeezus – 20 czars and counting – help, help, help…..
also the government couldn’t even keep a whorehouse in Nevada operating so if anyone thinks health care is gonna be great – think again (medicare, medicaid anyone??)
will stop now…………………..

donation to follow

Are you saying that nothing will change in 2012 other than angry people rioting in the streets. Man i really hope that isnt the case but we shall see. I am very concerned that we will have obama for 8 years…..

—————————————
Yup the past eight years of Bush brought us to the desperate need for hope and change well here it is! 4 years of obmanation will give us whoever they “dish up” and the thugs will shove HIM down our throats.

The title of Violet’s post, “Feminists Against Women” is apt. But I think it’s evidence of my claim that feminism REALLY needs to be redefined.

Susie1945,

Obama, Biden and Hillary all say marriage is between a man and a woman? I don’t understand why the Repubs are the fanatics if both parties agree on that issue. Especially when I see how Obama is handling these issues. And I still don’t understand how Hillary lost to Obama. IMO if Hillary had won this election some of these issues would be non-issues by now.

I believe in what the Bible teaches me but as I enter the voting booth I remember what Jesus said regarding casting stones. My son and my niece are both gay and I see how they sometimes struggle, although not as much as say 20 years ago due to the gay movements.

However I don’t like how the gay community uses foul language against women or anyone who doesn’t say the words they want to hear. I would not use disparaging language against anyone for not agreeing with me. When I hear my son and niece using this language I remind them this is not how to win support.

I would like to believe that I support all “human rights” even when I may not agree. I may not vote yes because of my beliefs but I may not vote no either if I believe I am casting a stone.

Susie1945 06.17.09 at 1:24 pm

Obama is a fraud, Biden is an idiot and Hillary has been tied up so many ways by teh fraud, the dnc, etc. etc. etc – she has to follow the party line BUT but but – she just gave partner benefits to all the State department people – so what’s your point? I don’t care what people do as long as they don’t hurt me – the gays need to get out of their self induced kool aid coma & face reality – the fraud doesn’t care about them anymore than he cared about anything else he touted during his intermminable campaign speechifying tour – omg he’s still campaigning……………

sorry about blaming repubs before dems – was a dem for a long time and repubs were automatically the enemy – am an independent now and mea culpa – screw the dems too – two-faced creeps – at least the repubs don’t hide it but doesn’t make them right either………………….

17

murphy 06.17.09 at 1:25 pm

I don’t think the “gay community” uses foul language against people “they” don’t agree with anymore than any other group does. Many members of religious communities are gay. Many members of the Republican Party are gay. How can we separate out the gay community? If you are referring to gay and lesbian activist groups, I dont think there’s any evidence they use foul language or bigotry against their political opponents. If anything, LGBT groups are quite serious about self-policing their language and vocabulary.

This is an excellent post about following the Bible’s teaching. In it, the author lays out a rational and reasoned case for why it is important that gay marriage be outlawed:

23

airforcehusker 06.17.09 at 1:42 pm

Sorry but i was downstairs and all i heard was crickets crickets….hahah

Anyhow back to our discussion. Yes many shot themselves in the foot by simply believing the newsmedia and the lie that obama was not beatable. I know of many who simply didnt vote because they thought it was to no use or would make no difference. I dont believe for a second that any of these people will be sitting at home next time around. I am wondering and i maybe wrong but i dont see North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana etc being obama states next time around. If they are well than this country is over and the legacy of obama will steer this country to the hope and change for the next 20 years…look at reagan etc. That is what scares the hell out of me is the idea that after 4 years you will have 4 more years with this clown.

100 DAYS 100 PROJECTS

http://www.whitehouse.gov/assets/documents/100-days.pdf

Stimulus program fraught with waste, report says
A Republican senator’s office says stimulus funds are going toward dubious projects, such as a $3.4-million tunnel for turtles. Obama aides say the report is flawed.

Modeled after a release from the White House describing 100 stimulus projects that were in the works, the report put out by Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma looks at the same number of projects but reaches starkly different conclusions. The title is “A Second Opinion on the Stimulus.”

“Will these projects make real improvements in the lives of taxpayers and communities or are they simply pet projects of politicians and lobbyists that never got off the ground because they are a low priority?” the report says.

Millions of dollars are going toward bicycle lockers, bike paths, walking trails and a skate park, Coburn said. One town in North Carolina is using stimulus funds to hire an administrator whose job will be to procure more stimulus funds, according to the report.

The White House pointed out that certain projects highlighted by Coburn have been stopped. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers put out a statement Monday that it would drop plans to spend $1.1 million to repair a guardrail near a dry man-made lake in the Oklahoma panhandle — project No. 7 in Coburn’s report.

Letter from Olive Garden!

Thank you for expressing your concerns about Olive Garden and allowing us an opportunity to respond.

We understand your concern about Mr. Letterman’s inappropriate comments. Olive Garden screens network television programs whenever possible. Some shows, like The David Letterman Show, are taped on a daily basis and there is not an opportunity to review the content prior to airing. The content of the dialogue on the June 8th show is not consistent with Olive Garden’s standards and values. We have joined many of our valued guests in voicing our concern to CBS, and we will adjust our plans accordingly as we have done in the past when such situations occur.

Going forward, guest feedback, such as yours, will certainly be taken into consideration as we review our future advertising schedule.

Again, thank you for contacting us with your comments, and we hope you will continue to think of Olive Garden as a place to visit with your family and friends.

Letter from Hellmann’s

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us regarding your disappointment with the program content which contained a commercial for a Unilever product. We never wish to offend anyone and your opinions are appreciated regarding this subject matter. Advertising for Hellmann’s or media buys are done months in advance and unfortunately we can’t foresee issues in the media before they come up. We appreciate the feedback from our consumers and we’ve decided to pull our online ads from the Letterman show from our advertising schedule moving forward.
We hope that this information has given you a better understanding of our advertising practices. Thank you again for taking the time to share your views with us. You can be assured that your comments will be considered as we continue to challenge our perceptions about what is appropriate for us in today’s environment.
Kind regards,
Your friends at Hellmann’s/Best Foods

EDMONDS — An argument Monday night over who drank whose Kool-Aid left one man with a stab wound and another man behind bars.
Police were called around 10:40 p.m. to a home in the 21800 block of 96th Avenue W., Edmonds police Sgt. Don Anderson said.

” During the Clinton administration — guidance was requested about whether sick leave could be used to take care of same-sex partners and/children. The answer came back that a federal employee could use their sick leave to take care of, attend doctor appointments, or even attend funerals for anyone who had the “close approximation of family”. This was a guidance memo — not policy — but it has been available since the mid 1990′s. The reason I know this is that I have worked for a DOD Agency for 23 years and even DOD allowed me to take sick leave to care for my partner and my non-bio child.

What a bunch of nothing.”

Clinton Affirms Iranian People’s Right to Choose Leader as Massive Opposition Protests Planned

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton affirmed Iranians right to choose their own leader in the violent wake of a contentious presidential election amid accusations from Iranian leaders that the United States was meddling in the country’s internal affairs.

“The people of Iran reserve the right to have their voices heard and their voices counted,” Clinton said at a news conference Wednesday afternoon. “The result of any election should be the will of the people.”

Gay critics say ‘too little, too late’ from Obama

(CNN) — President Obama’s decision to grant some benefits to the same-sex partners of federal employees is seen by some as his attempt to extend an olive branch to the gay and lesbian community, but critics say it’s “too little, too late.”

“It seems to me at least to be a nice gesture, but a disappointment,” said Richard Kim, a senior editor at The Nation magazine.
The memorandum Obama is signing Thursday is not expected to grant health and retirement benefits to same-sex partners, as that is prohibited under the Defense of Marriage Act.

snip

Charles Moran, the spokesman for the Log Cabin Republicans said the lack of full benefits in Thursday’s memorandum shows a lack of commitment to the gay community.
“That’s the part that just shows that the Obama administration really isn’t serious about their promises to the gay and lesbian community. Things like the health benefits, things like retirement benefits and coverage for spouses. These are the core issues,” Moran said.
“Why start the marathon if you’re not serious about ending the race?” he added.

White House officials involved in discussions with gay-rights advocates say that Obama favors extending full health care benefits to same-sex couples but that will take legislation to accomplish.
Moran said Obama has had multiple opportunities to fulfill his promises to the gay and lesbian community — including by repealing the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy and standing against the Justice Department motion filed last week in support of the Defense of Marriage Act.
“Here we are, several months after he’s been inaugurated, and we’ve gotten basically nothing. So it is too little, too late,” Moran said.
White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs said Obama will keep his word.
“[Extending benefits to same-sex couples] is a matter of fairness. The president is committed to ensuring that fairness as well as working on and fulfilling other promises that he has made in the campaign around things like ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ ” Gibbs said.

The president has faced sharp criticism over the Justice Department’s filing in support of DOMA, which opposes same-sex marriage. The act used the government’s interest in opposing incestuous marriages to support its position against same-sex marriage.

Hey PUMAs – remember back when Congress flew lawmaker back to dc from his mother’s funeral so he could vote on crappy package that we had spent days decoding? only to have the fraud wait another frickin’ 3 days so he could fly to Denver and sign it & so that fancy nancy could get on a jet & fly to Italy?

Well, they did it again – repubs were trying to block ACORN from getting any more of our money – house sent everybody home – said they would wait until today and then the bastards decided to vote – 100+ members couldn’t make it back to house to vote – dirty rotten ratbastards – we need to vote them ALL out and start over again
Also, just watching BECK – I know, I know – my bad – had the Inspector General who was just fired by the fraud – Beck gave him the test that hospitals give people they suspect have dementia – guy had no problems – why aren’t we raising hell with faxes & emails to Congress over this –

Also, ACORN is having a birthday party tonite in dc – guess we’re paying for that too……………….what the hell is wrong with this country – do these assholes keep getting relected because we think – oh yeah our guy or gal is good but it’s one of those others that is lousy – well guess what – they are all lousy and have forgotten exactly what the hell it is they are supposed to be doing in dc – they WORK for us

I like sending the emails, faxes, etc. – it makes us seem more like a PAC doing things – rather than just reading & writing about shit – like writing about it is gonna make it stop…..IMO

In writing about it, we educate each other, and all the lurkers out there who check in but do not comment. I think you’d be surprised at how many are grateful for the information that is posted here.
Not saying we shouldn’t do actions, just saying commenting is not in vain.

85

Susie1945 06.17.09 at 6:33 pm

Well, we kinda missed on the vote – it’s done – most of the assholes are probably already at the party -

I think I’d like to send a prowl to all 535 members – whoops 534 – we here in MN haven’t selected our 2nd senator yet – neither one is worth sending – just a kind of heads up saying that we know the elections are coming next year and that they might wanna start polishing up their resumes because they might be looking for new jobs – course they already have made more money than they need plus they get a really really really good pension – omg pensions????? how dare they??? – us peons had to give those up for a 401(k) – damm that really worked well -

I’m not really good at writing these things – I usually copy Murphy’s and maybe add a sentence or two – but let me think about it. My best thoughts are the ones I don’t write down – maybe I need one of those little recorders so I can say them as I think them – hah………….like at 3 in the morning…..

I just sent my third letter to Greta, and decided to post it. Forfive me if it’s too long. (If you think so, I won’t ever do it again! I jst couldn’t figure out where to cut!)

—————————
Dear Greta
I emailed you yesterday in regards to your challenge “Where are the feminists, and why aren’t they speaking out in defense of Governor Palin?” I am a member of Puma P.A.C, and Darragh Murphy is the founder and executive director of our pac. It is our feeling that women’s organizations are not hearing our voices and representing us. Even though we are/were predominately Democrats, we feel that Letterman’s assault on women is not a right/left issue or a Democrat/Republican issue. It is wrong because sexist assaults on women are wrong.
I asked in my previous emails that you consider having women like Darragh Murphy speak out about our fight to defend women and the misogyny, elitism and divisiveness witnessed today in the media as well as in political circles. My email today would like to take it a step further and address two other issues and thoughts that I hope you can be challenged to consider.

First of all, this weekend, June 19-21, NOW has a national conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. Two slates have announced their candidacy for president, and voting will take place Saturday, June 20 from 7:00–9:00. In light of all that has recently happened in regards to the lack of support Sarah Palin received from NOW, and other so-called women’s organizations, perhaps the timing could be right to have you think about doing a special on Feminism? “Should NOW be called THEN”, or “What is 21st Century Femiinism, and what are the issues women want addressed today?” On the heels of the NOW election, it feels like this would be a great time for further discussion and deliberation, in this area, and people like Darragh Murphy could very eloquently represent our frustrated, disillusioned and disenfranchised voices.

In addition, I would respectfully like to request your insight and support regarding a bill currently in committee, HR 406.
(http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h406/text). This bill would give Alice Paul the Congressional Gold Medal to suffragist Alice Paul, and Puma P.A.C. has been working to see that this medal is awarded to her through passage in the 111th Congress. http://pumapac.org/2009/03/24/we-can-we-must-and-we-will/ Rep. Baca first introduced legislation to award Alice Paul the Congressional Gold Medal in 2005, after seeing the movie “Iron Jawed Angels” with Hillary Swank. http://www.hbo.com/films/ironjawedangels/synopsis/

The legislation garnered near unanimous, bipartisan support in the 110th Congress with 406 co-sponsors in the House, but since the legislation timed-out in the U.S. Senate, it was reintroduced by Congressman Baca in January. Currently it only has 110 co-sponsors, and it will NOT be moved to the floor of the House for a vote until it has 290, which would be 2/3 of the 430 total Representatives.

There are bigger issues at stake in our country right now than awarding a suffragist a medal, however co-sponsorship of HR 406 could show our country that our representatives are demonstrating bipartisan support of legislation that recognizes a strong, committed, and passionate woman that worked fervently for her country. As stated in the Congressional findings, (Sec. 2, #13 “Few people have played a greater role in shaping the history of the United States than Alice Paul.” The recent trashing of Sarah Palin and her family by David Letterman, the media, and society in general is a loud indicator that people need to unite and stand firm on those principles that we know are morally right to defend. Giving a Congressional Medal to Alice Paul is the right thing to do, and its passage can be part of the educational process for our entire country. You are not obviously in a position to co-sponsor, but you do have the nation’s ear, and perhaps mention of this bill might challenge some Congressmen in the House to do the right thing, reach across party lines, and co-sponsor this bill so that it could be moved to the Senate for discussion and support. We can’t let it time out again!

Your consideration of all of these issues is gratefully appreciated.

Another Rules Committee setting up new ground rules

Not only were two amendments to deny funding ACORN stripped, as mentioned by Susie above, but

[House Republicans also wanted to fund a $2 million Justice Department investigation of Pelosi, D-Calif., and her allegation that the CIA lied to her about the interrogations of terror detainees.

The three amendments were among 127 total amendments ready for debate Tuesday night.

But House Democrats scrubbed many of those amendments after complaining Republicans were consuming too much time debating the amendments. The Rules Committee wrote up a new set of ground rules for considering the spending bill, including limiting the number of amendments to 33 -- nine Democratic- and 24 Republican-backed provisions. ]

Vegas paper gets subpoena to ID online commenters

The Associated Press
Tuesday, June 16, 2009 6:34 PM

LAS VEGAS — A Nevada newspaper says it has been served a federal grand jury subpoena seeking information about readers who posted comments on the paper’s Web site.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Tuesday that its editor, Thomas Mitchell, plans to fight the request, which the newspaper received after reporting on a federal tax fraud case against business owner Robert Kahre.

The subpoena seeks the identities and personal information about people who posted comments on the story. The newspaper said prosecutors told the judge in the case that some comments hinted at acts of violence and the subpoena was issued out of concern for jurors’ safety.

Mitchell said anonymous speech is “a fundamental and historic part of this country.” The newspaper would consider cooperating if specific crimes or real threats were presented, he said.

On Iran.

Obama will miss a rare opportunity to help the secular youth movement in Iran. His statement that there is not much of a difference who prevails in this election, is correct. But the moderate Iranians know this O’Moron! They are using this lunetic-light candidate as a means to an ends; that is to get out from under their Ayatollah led Islamic Theocracy.
Obama’s decision to “not to meddle” in Iran’s affairs is typical of his do nothing days as Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Sub-Committee on Europe and the Middle East.
The only work Obama enjoys doing apparently is spending our money.
I am sorry for Hillary Clinton. She will have a failed foreign policy hanging around her neck for the rest of her political life. She will continue to be damaged by the men she supports. This administration has been very quite about the two American hostages in No. Korea, another mistake which will ultimately hurt HRC.
The only real accomplishment I have seen recently has been by Governor Palin, who seems to have affected change in what is tolerated in the way of hate speach against women and girls.
Sometimes being impervious doesn’t cut it. Being a “Mama Grizzly” has much better results.

Juliette,
I see you are a strong Palin supporter and yet at the same time don’t forget a majority of PUMAs are still Hillary supporters and don’t see Hillary in the pitiful way you do.
I am proud of Hillary, she has fought this battle mostly on her own for decades and Sarah is getting some of the support now from women that are sick and tired of what happened to the women before Sarah.

Just sayin…

Hello Pumas,
Its been a long time since I have blogged, but I still come on from time to time to see whats goin on.I did send the e-mails to CBS and Letterman. WOW what a great job everyond did.
I am now hitting the WHITE HOUSE with a series of E-Mails concerning the fireing of INSPECTOR GENERAL GERALD WALPIN,due to the fact that he probed into the misuse of taxpayers money by Obamas good friend SACRAMENTO MAYOR,former NBA player,JOHNSON.
Now nobody is looking out for taxpayers money, and watching Obamas friends.

I never said that Hillary was pitiful. I worked my ass off for her campaign as a volunteer! I just think that her reputation is being damaged by Obama’s failures in foreign policy.
I wish she had stayed in the Senate. I would have worked with others to her get the position of Senate Majority Leader. In that case she would be a viable candidate in 2012 against Obama.
Know I don’t believe, as a member of Obama’s toxic administration she will be a viable candidate in 2012.

On another not, This issue with David Letterman has caused me to question my loyalty to my party-the dems.. I defended President Bill Clinton’s behavior as a womanizer and sexual harasser. Now I am feeling I should not have. I was younger then and maybe a little naive. I just really wish the dems had more respect for women. Sarah Palin has demanded respect and she has mine. I still respect and admire Hillary. I just wish she did not support Obama in his defeat of democracy. I am not real happy with anyone who supported Obama.

Maybe we can cheer Sen. Grassley on:

Norman Eisen, the White House Special Counsel to the President for Ethics and Government Reform, met with investigators on the staff of Republican Sen. Charles Grassley at Grassley’s offices Wednesday morning. The investigators wanted to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the abrupt firing of AmeriCorps inspector general Gerald Walpin. According to Grassley, Eisen revealed very, very little, refusing to answer many questions of fact put to him. And now Grassley has written a letter to the White House counsel asking for answers….

Understanding the Age of Obama
By Victor Davis Hanson

Are you confused by all that has changed since President Barack Obama took office in January? If so, you’re not alone. Perhaps, though, this handy guide to Age of Obama “logic” might be of some assistance.

1. The Budget. Wanting to cut $17 billion from the budget, as President Obama has promised, is proof of financial responsibility. Borrowing $1.84 trillion this year for new programs is “stimulus.” The old phrase “out-of-control spending” is inoperative.

2. Unemployment. The number of jobs theoretically saved, or created, by new government policies – not the actual percentage of Americans out of work, or the total number of jobs lost – is now the far better indicator of unemployment.

3. The Private Sector. Nationalizing much of the auto and financial industries, while regulating executive compensation, is an indication of our new government’s repeatedly stated reluctance to interfere in the private sector.

4. Race and Gender. Not what is said but who says it and about whom reveals racism and sexism. For example, an Hispanic female judge isn’t being offensive if she states that Latinas are inherently better judges than white males.

5. Random violence. Some assassinations represent larger American pathologies, but others do not. When a crazed lone gunman murders someone outside the Holocaust Museum or shoots an abortion doctor, we should worry about growing right-wing and Christian extremism. But when an African-American Muslim convert brags about his murder of a military recruitment officer or an Islamic group plots to kill Jews and blow up a military jet, these are largely isolated incidents without larger relevance.

6. Terrorism. Acts of terror disappeared about six months ago. Thankfully, we live now in an age where there will be – in the new vocabulary of the Obama administration – only occasional “overseas contingency operations” in which we may be forced to hold a few “detainees.” At the same time, ongoing military tribunals, renditions, wiretaps, phone intercepts and predator-drone assassinations are no longer threats to the Constitution. And just saying you’re going to close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay is proof that it is almost closed.

7. Iraq. The once-despised Iraq war thankfully ended around Jan. 20, 2009, and has now transformed into a noble experiment that is fanning winds of change throughout the Middle East. There will be no need for any more Hollywood cinema exposés of American wartime crimes in Iraq with titles like “Rendition,” “Redacted,” “Lions for Lambs” and “Stop-Loss.”

8. The West. Western values and history aren’t apparently that special or unique. As President Obama told the world during his recent speech in Cairo, the Renaissance and Enlightenment were, in fact, fueled by a brilliant Islamic culture, responsible for landmark discoveries in mathematics, science and medicine. Slavery in America ended without violence. Mistreatment of women and religious intolerance in the Middle East have comparable parallels in America.

9. Media. The media are disinterested and professional observers of the present administration. When television anchormen and senior magazine editors bow to the president, proclaim him a god or feel tingling in the legs when he speaks, it is quite normal.

10. George W. Bush. Former President Bush did all sorts of bad things to the United States that only now we are learning will take at least eight years to sort out. “Bush did it” for the next decade will continue to explain the growing unemployment rate, the most recent deficit, the new round of tensions with Iran and North Korea, and the growing global unrest from the Middle East to South America.

Once we remember and accept the logic of the above, then almost everything about this Age of Obama begins to make perfect sense.

My letter to Sen. McCaskill this morning regarding Walpin’s firing. There’s so much more I wanted to write to her, but I’m thinking brevity would be a good idea right now. :) I haven’t sent it yet….I’m too angry with Washington, so I’ll sit on it for a few hours.

Dear Senator McCaskill,

I would like to thank you for your response to the White House regarding the recent firing of Inspector General Walpin. I must say to you that there is a general feeling of anger among the public right now regarding the trillions of tax dollars that are being spent at breakneck speed and the carelessness of its handling by Washington. So to see an IG standing athwart the craziness, yelling “STOP” is very refreshing to me.

From all the available information on this subject, I very much support Mr. Walpin in his oversight of my tax dollars that are being paid to AmeriCorps. I only wish that there were more conscientious ‘watchdogs’ of our tax dollars in Washington – they are so rare right now.

I write this to let you know that I hope you continue down the path of determining the truth behind the firing of Mr. Walpin – regardless of party affiliation and follow the guidelines in the bill for which both you and Mr. Obama voted.

The country is watching and while mine may be the only letter you receive on this issue, I can guarantee you that there are many more people like me in this country that are fed up with the corruption in Washington and indeed, as Mr. Obama stated before, “Change” is coming to Washington in future elections. We are looking for representatives that represent US, and not just their party interests and their careers in Washington.

Respectfully,

XXXX

……In addition, I would respectfully like to request your insight and support regarding a bill currently in committee, HR 406.
http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h406/show
This bill would give the Congressional Gold Medal to suffragist Alice Paul, and Puma P.A.C. has been working to see that this medal is awarded to her through passage in the 111th Congress. http://pumapac.org/2009/03/24/we-can-we-must-and-we-will/ Rep.

FOLLOWING ARE NEW JUNE CO-SPONSORS TO H.R. 406
Rep Coble, Howard [NC-6] – 6/3/2009
Rep Marshall, Jim [GA-8] – 6/3/2009
Rep Grayson, Alan [FL-8] – 6/10/2009
Rep Ellsworth, Brad [IN-8] – 6/16/2009
Rep Green, Al [TX-9] – 6/16/2009

IS YOUR REPRESENTATIVE ON THE LIST?
http://thomas.loc.gov/

I did a breakdown of the co-sponsors so far:

-96 Democrat (31 are women)
-14 Republican (2 are women)
-77 men
-33 women

Alice Paul and others broke from the mainstream women’s-rights movement and created a more radical wing, daring to push the boundaries of political protest to secure women’s voting rights in 1920. In light of what Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin have had to endure, do we not see history repeating itself!?

I can’t let this go. My own Republican rep. has NOT signed on to co-sponsor, even tho’ he DID in the last session of Congress. (I met with his senior field rep. yesterday, and it seemed like I had his ear. We discussed Sarah Palin at length and how PUMA, a predominantly Dem. organization overwhelmingly reached out in support of her! THIS FEELS VERY BIPARTISAN TO ME. My fervor for this might be a bit annoying for some, so my apologies in advance. Some others have asked, so I felt you all were due for an update.

I am personally having some second thoughts about abortion. I have a good friend whose grandson was born 3 months prematurely and is now doing fantastic. It was a real baby when it was born, not just some tissue. Other friends of mine who are now pregnant are showing me ultrasounds taken in the first and 2nd trimester that show extreme details. You can see the fingernails and toenails and even eyelashes. These friends said they saw them yawning and stretching, and even indicated that there are brainwaves in the first trimester. I don’t know how they know that, but apparently they were at least told that by their obgyn. I’m not judging those who are having abortions. I am personally having some serious second thoughts about them and wondering if maybe (just maybe) they should reevaluate how “human” a fetus really is based on modern technology. I’m beginning to think that this is a far more complex issue than what I first thought.

162

vwade 06.18.09 at 10:03 am

HopePuma, I believe this issue is whether a woman has the right to choose, not so much whether you believe in aborting a fetus. I know sesveral women who wouldn’t choose abortion themselves, but they still believe in a woman’s right to choose.

Off the subject, but did you all hear about Hillary fracturing her elbow during a fall yesterday? Probably was pushed by an Obot!

Was going to respond by raising the issues of autonomy and privacy but I will instead refer you to a post by Violet Socks.

http://www.reclusiveleftist.com/category/blogging-for-choice/

Here’s an excerpt:

Listen: 30 years ago I took the pro-choice side in a high school debate on abortion. I gave a good solid presentation, listing all the reasons why it was right and necessary for women to have the right to an abortion: because it’s a matter of fundamental bodily integrity, because the decision to bear a child belongs solely to the person doing the bearing, because women will seek abortions no matter what and if they’re illegal then thousands of women will suffer or die from back-alley hack jobs, etc., etc. When I sat down, I was genuinely curious to see how my debate opponent would answer my arguments.

She didn’t even try. She didn’t address a single point, didn’t discuss a single question of law or rights or statistics. Instead, she pulled out a piece of paper and started reading: “Mommy, I’m 8 inches long and I have all my organs! I love the sound of your voice…” It was the Talking Fetus pamphlet! Yes, that thing. It was making the rounds 30 years ago and it’s still out there today. It’s like the Christmas fruitcake that won’t die.

Anyway, my debate opponent read this thing with a trembling voice, her eyes welling with tears as the wee diary-keeping embryo drew ever closer to its destiny with Jesus. By the end she and the whole class were sobbing — snot dripping out, the whole bit. I leaned my head against the wall and wished our teacher would schedule a lesson on propaganda.

I don’t remember if, when I got up to respond, I actually said, “You do realize that this wasn’t really written by a baby, right?”, but I was certainly thinking it. It wouldn’t have mattered though. At that point my classmates would have sooner voted for roasting live kittens than for abortion, and in fact in their minds it was pretty much the same thing.

And that’s still how the anti-choice people think, which is to say, they don’t really think. They just fantasize about talking fetuses and cry. So, instead of trying to fight them with reasons, maybe we should just circulate some really, really sappy pamphlets. I know: we could do one written from the point of view of a woman bleeding to death on the floor of a motel bathroom as the illegal abortionist hightails it out of there
with the cash and the coathanger in his pocket. It could end with the dead woman in Jesus’s arms, asking “Whatever happened to Roe v. Wade?”

———–
I take it you wouldn’t be having an abortion if you were pregnant, at least until you sort things out for yourself. I wish you well with any personal conclusion you reach.

Otherwise, they can reevaluate how “human” a fetus really is, based on modern technology, all they want to. My body, my uterus, my pregnancies, my decisions as they pertain to my personal life aren’t anyone’s business but my own, and that’s the way it shall remain.

LOW-LEVEL TERRORISM

Pentagon Exam Calls Protests ‘Low-Level Terrorism,’ Angering Activists

A written exam administered by the Pentagon labels “protests” as a form of “low-level terrorism” — enraging civil liberties advocates and activist groups who say it shows blatant disregard of the First Amendment.

The written exam, given as part of Department of Defense employees’ routine training, includes a multiple-choice question that asks:

“Which of the following is an example of low-level terrorism?”
— Attacking the Pentagon
— IEDs
— Hate crimes against racial groups
— Protests

The correct answer, according to the exam, is “Protests.”

“Its part of a pattern of equating dissent and protest with terrorism,” said Ann Brick, an attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union, which obtained a copy of the question after a Defense Department employee who was taking the test printed the screen on his or her computer terminal.

“It undermines the core constitutional values the Department of Defense is supposed to be defending,” Brick said, referring to the First Amendment right to peaceably assemble.

Gay critics say ‘too little, too late’ from Obama!

Sounds like some Americans are waking up to the fact, that they may have thrown their vote away. Too dam bad they could not have figured that out earlier. modern science is also coming to conclusions about the influence of testosterone on human males and its role in every human misery, from economic collapse to torture to war to child abuse and rape. Soon we will very likely have evidence that the existence of “evil” of “inhumanity” may simply spring from one human hormone, which is more prevalent in males.

If science leads us to the conclusion that all males should submit to de-testosteronization or that the number of males born should be limited, would it make sense for the state to impose that or for us to support the State’s intrusion into men’s private bodies?

176

persephone 06.18.09 at 10:32 am

Fingers and toes aside, we know that a fetus is insensate until about 22 weeks..but..

self-proclaimed “Pro-Life” groups do not believe abortion should be legal at ANY POINT during a pregnancy.

They have used the *fingers and toes* argument in their propaganda for as long as there has been an argument-to whittle away at women’s privacy by humanizing a fetus and giving it “rights.”

Question is, what does this have to do with whether or not a woman is in charge of her body?
Answer: nothing!

no1what: I don’t feel anyone is really attacking. I think everyone is just voicing their opinions. You agree with what you like and you ignore that which you don’t agree with. It’s healthy to have different views on everything. That’s what makes us unique here! We are a cross-section of America. Female, male, Democrate, Republican, Independent, Old, young, Straight, Gay, Religious, Atheist. If we can’t dialogue with each other than how can we move this country in a different direction. Just my thoughts, feel free to disagree.

181

HopePuma 06.18.09 at 10:37 am

I understand what y’all are saying regarding a woman’s choice of what happens with her body. I agree. I’m 1000% in favor of a woman’s right over her body. The thing I’m questioning is if a baby is a “little human” and not just tissue, would they have the same constitutional rights that we do? You know “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”? Modern DNA technology has proven some on death row to be guilty beyond doubt; and others on death row were exonerated based on technology that wasn’t available when they were convicted. Shouldn’t we use modern technology that wasn’t available when Roe Vs Wade was passed to either prove or disprove that the baby is truly human or not? If modern technology can prove that a fetus is only tissue, and not “living” like a little tiny animal, that would put to rest all abortion doubters. On the other hand, if modern technology proved that the fetus is truly “living”, are we doing wrong to innocent lives by purposely avoiding examining it that way? Modern technology could very likely put any doubts to rest one way or the other. If it is a “baby” and not just tissue, are we doing wrong by ignoring their right to life? Does this deserve the same attention with modern technology that someone on death row has? I’m not sure anymore. I think it would be wise to use the modern tools available now to set the issue firmly to rest.

182

murphy 06.18.09 at 10:38 am

oh, and a very solid “pro-life” argument could be erected to defend the idea of forced de-testosteronization. Protecting the existing lives of all the humans who would NOT be murdered, tortured, raped, or warred upon.

In fact there already ARE solid pro-life arguments for the medical sterilization of rapists and pedophiles, but most Americans are VERY queasy about the idea of the State FORCING any MALE bodies to submit to any procedures.

Including me. Bodily privacy is a natural law. Every human is born with it. The State has NO place deciding what citizens will do with their bodies. Until we commit a crime of course. But not until then.

Anyway, this argument is OLD. Birth control, abortion and RU-486 make State enforced pregnancy a thing of the past.

I find it funny that the government is more concern with what a woman does with her body, and whom other Americans chose to sleep with, then they are about providing ALL Americans with the right to have fair unbiased elections, or affordable housing and an ample supply of jobs to get that housing. Crazy huh?

Not wanting to get into a theological debate here. (That’s more Mr. Rancho’s expertise.) But I just have to throw out a thought.

In re. to what is human”
” Shouldn’t we use modern technology that wasn’t available when Roe Vs Wade was passed to either prove or disprove that the baby is truly human or not?
——–
How is “human” defined? “Infusion of the soul” within the fetus itself? Would that define “human?” Technology can NOT determine that time, and neither can religion. Is the soul infused at the moment of conception? If that’s the case, when there are twin fetuses, does the soul split in two?

Enough said. Don’t really want to go there.

191

persephone 06.18.09 at 10:53 am

no, Hope-an insensate fetus should not have constitutional rights.

a sensate fetus that cannot survive outside of the mother’s body should not have constitutional rights.

a 6 month old fetus the mother CHOOSES not to carry to term-nope, no constitutional rights.

It’s nobody’s business but the mother’s.

You cite “modern technology” in your comment.

Because we have “modern technology” that can keep a fetus alive outside the mother’s body-should Roe be overturned?

We could offer women the option of having fetuses surgically removed and kept on life support until they can eat and breathe on their own?

Note to self-reread Atwood’s *A Handmaid’s Tale*…

Rancho, that’s too deep for me, LOL. The “soul” is a part that nobody has even proven really exists, have they? I probably phrased that wrong. Rather than “human” I should have said “living”. IF a baby is “living” when in the womb, such as even a nonhuman animal like a dog or cat, would we want to tear it apart limb from limb or inject something into it’s brain or heart to kill it? Think of doing this to your pet, not just a human. What we need to determine isn’t at what point a non-proven “soul” enters, but at what point is it even “living” like a puppy or kitten? We send people to prison for being cruel to animals. Here again I get to the thing that I am personally struggling with. Is a fetus just tissue or is it alive? If it is alive, then we are murdering it. If it isn’t, then we aren’t. Can modern technology determine if it is “alive” (soul or not) or disprove it being alive? Do we need to err on the side of caution by using modern technology to make sure it isn’t truly “alive”?? Do we owe them that much “just in case”? Or, if modern technology proved it was not living, it would put to rest the whole debate for good.

If a fetus comes to term, and tehmother’s life is lost due to giving birth to that “human”, should the infant, having been accorded all rights of any us citizen (excepting lesbians and gays, of course) under the us constitution, shall the infant be imprisoned for second degree murder of the host vessel?
Funny, peeps are so concerned about fetuses, while there are large issues of inequity for those living independant of host vessels.

anyway, end of participation in dead-end abortion discussion. Its a never-ending loop of personal, immovable positions.

Good points Persephone. I need to add that to my “think tank” to “chew” on along with the other things I’m “chewing” on this topic. I knew just saying what’s on my mind would help clarify things here.

196

HopePuma 06.18.09 at 11:04 am

Dances, that’s also worth adding to my “think tank”. Thank you.

Why do young males sometimes find it necessary to torture cats?

199

BigCatLover 06.18.09 at 11:23 am

Because cats are independent and do not really need people. These same yound men often grow up to torture people.

“I think the bigger issue is feminism needs to adapt and be more accepting of diversity in politics, culture and social issues among women. We should be able to support each other on some issues even if we don’t agree on others.”

So are they only seeing pain in their lives? Is it an imbalance of hormones, should they be tested and treated “periodically” and rendered sterile if tendencies continue? Does it make them feel powerful?
Our culture does make men desensitized and insecure, so they must gain power over others. We teach them to be strong, unfeeling and to kill.
Dances has the answer we as a culture reap what is sown……

Tow more notes, and then I’m done with the abortion issue as a public issue.

- Read what Dr Violet Sox said recently about the anti-reproductive freedom crowd’s talking points… about how all the creative geniuses are unborn fetuses, while those of us who are here generally turn out to be just average intelligence beer-chugging shlubs (my words, not Dr. Violet Sox’s).

- Why do we have classes with names like, “MY Body Belongs to Me”, to help children protect themselves from abuse and exploitation, drumming into their minds that their bodies are their own domain, and no one has a right to touch them without their permission?
Then we have them grow into adulthood and learn that the government believes it has some sort of a right to overrule the reality that our bodies belong to us?

/end (for real now)

Glenn Beck: The Letter

Sign the petition: An open letter to our nation’s leadership
The petition site is currently having issues with the large amounts of traffic this issue has generated. If you encounter a problem attempting to access the petition please try again later.

GLENN: I got a letter from a woman in Arizona. She writes an open letter to our nation’s leadership: I’m a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you’re willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me?

Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:

One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I’m not a racist. This isn’t to be confused with legal immigration.

Two, the TARP bill, I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you no, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.

Three: Czars, I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.

Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There is more to say.

Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don’t you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!

Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real obligations. Why don’t you start there.

Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes. Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census over with our taxpayer money. I don’t trust them with our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.

Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do you want me to hate my employers? Why ‑‑ what do you have against shareholders making a profit?

Nine, charitable contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.

Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we’ll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. Have you ever ripped off a Band‑Aid? We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.

Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let’s have it. Let’s say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please try ‑‑ please stop manipulating and trying to appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.

Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now.

Take a breath. Listen to the people. Let’s just slow down and get some input from some nonpoliticians on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I’m busy. I’m busy. I am busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.

I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not. It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure that we still cannot. There is such urgency and recklessness in all of the recent spending.

From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane. I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on you to bring our concerns to Washington. Our president often knows all the right buzzword is unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don’t want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we’re morons.

We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented. You think we’re so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work , pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone and we are now looking up at you. You have awakened us, the patriotic spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn’t ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us when hewill rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.

Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don’t care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming
