Two weeks ago, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton issued a directive to her 30+ thousand employees stating that Domestic Partners of State Department diplomats would immediately begin receiving the same benefits as spouses. Since she is not the President, Madam Secretary can do very little to affect the despicable Defense of Marriage Act. However the Homophobe in Chief CAN do something about it. And today he did. He filed a motion to dismiss the case against the Defense of Marriage Act. In other words, obama thinks DOMA, a federal law stipulating that no state needs to recognize same sex marriages from other states AND that the federal government does NOT recognize same sex marriages, is just FINE and DANDY!
“ It’s pretty despicable. And before Obama claims he didn’t have a choice, he had a choice. Bush, Reagan and Clinton all filed briefs in court opposing current federal law as being unconstitutional (we’ll be posting more about that later). Obama could have done the same. But instead he chose to defend DOMA, denigrate our civil rights, go back on his promises, and contradict his own statements that DOMA was “abhorrent.”"
Obama even uses the hate-inciting specter of incest and child marriage to defend his indefensible defense of DOMA. The comments by obama-supporters over at Americablog are pretty rich. Those gays and lesbians who worked their tails off to get obama elected are really starting to feel despair about the level of contempt with which obama clearly holds the LGBT community and its uppity insistence on equal protection under the Constitution.
Sigh. Yup, we TOLD YOU this would happen.

Dear CBS,
David Letterman should be publicly censured for his offensive and sexist attempts to ridicule Sarah Palin and her daughters on June 9th. Wednesday night’s non-apology is FAR from sufficient to address the damage he has done. Calling public figures “slutty” and implying that a young girl being raped and/or becoming pregnant as a result of unwanted sex with a much older man for LAUGHS is absolutely out of bounds, and is not funny in any context.
AMERICAN WOMEN DEMAND A SINCERE APOLOGY FROM DAVID LETTERMAN TO THE PALIN FAMILY AND TO ALL HIS VIEWERS!
I am also contacting the advertisers who sponsor the Letterman show, especially M&M Mars, Embassy Suites, and Best Western, which market themselves as family friendly brands, to urge them to pull their advertising from a show that uses violently sexist material for laughs.
Sincerely,

Just finished my fcc complaint.
David Letterman made offensive sexually harassing statements on his show June 9th when he called for the rape of a 14 year old, Willow Palin.
I believe the media is sexually harassing Sarah and her family. It’s not allowed in the work place why should it be allowed in media? And why should sexual harrasment be allowed to come into any woman or minor female’s home.
These sexist comments from Letterman and the drive by Media are offensive to me and my 3 daughters. These type of remarks cause my daughters self-esteem issues and send a subliminal message that women are not created equal to men.
I would like to file a Class Action Law Suit for sexist remarks made in the media saying it’s ok to disparage against women.
There is zero tolerance for racial remarks in the media and women deserve the same equality.
Social-Psyche 06.12.09 at 1:07 pm
Murphy, let hillbuzz know they’ve made a big OOPS for suggesting,
“Kelloggs: the company that makes cereal you eat while laughing about statutory rape!”
Is it the Kellogg Company, or, the individual eating cereal, who is doing the laughing? Is the company hard at work making cereal, and you’re the one eating it while laughing about rape? Oh, joy– NOT!
Kellogg: the company that makes a joke out of rape, and a fool out of you for eating their cereal.

Usually a 403 occurs when a page exists but a script or a config file setting (e.g. htaccess or php.ini) is preventing access.
It’s most likely just temporary. Did you try e-mailing her? (I’ll try if the site doesn’t return soon.)

Gov. Palin was interviewed by Matt Lauer on the Today show. She was articulate, composed, and accurate. When Matt asked about Letterman saying he meant Bristol, not Willow, she told him that if he and others believed that, they were naive. She also discussed how it was wrong to joke about any women this way. When Matt asked her if Letterman needed to apologize to her she said no, he needs to apologize to all women. She also connected these kind of jokes to violence against women.
Gov. Palin did a wonderful job of standing up for women’s rights.
Here’s a link to an article about it.

OT:
“Nearly everything about Kate Walbert’s new novel is wickedly smart, starting with the title: “A Short History of Women.” Does it connote modesty or grandeur? “Short” sounds modest. “History” sounds grand — grandiose, in fact, when affixed to a work of fiction. But “Women” clinches it: modest, then. After all, what more trifling subject could one elect to research? Such, at any rate, is the prevailing view in the world inhabited by Walbert’s characters — all five generations of them. One of the book’s accomplishments is that it persuades us that this sentiment holds no less currency in 21st-century America than it did in late Victorian England. But Walbert’s primary concerns — unlike those of some of her characters — aren’t political. Her writing wears both its intelligence and its ideology lightly. No manifesto, this is a gorgeously wrought and ultimately wrenching work of art.”

That article isn’t very biased [/ sarcasm]
Did you look at the graphics there?
“… redneck-ish conservatism had been put out to an Alaskan pasture, not just by popular vote but by her own Republican Party, the Governor of Alaska shows the world how a true politician uses anything they can to spring back into the thick of things. In this case, Sarah Palin, who has never been shy of pimping out her family (and, to be fair, what politician isn’t?), is now doing it again, but this time she insists that Letterman’s joke was not only derogatory toward her 14-year-old daughter, Willow, but that it was demeaning to women the world over. She called on Letterman to apologize to women everywhere.”
Author seems to be campaigning for sexism and violence toward women. There must be better reports of the interview than that one.

If so here’s where you can comment on the DOMA issue -

Silence Dogood 06.12.09 at 2:19 pm
Regarding Obama and DOMA. It is clear to me that one is only important to Obama if he needs you or your group. He probably believes that at least half of all gay people will always vote Democrat or liberal. Further, since the gay population is relatively small compared to other groups, Obama can do what he wants w/o significant damage.
Obama just does not care about gay people. He’s supposed to be everyone’s President, but never behaves that way. He never reaches out to those that didn’t vote for him. I can’t think of any other President in my lifetime that did at least listen to the other side.

Obama DOJ lies to Politico in defending hate brief against gays
by John Aravosis (DC) on 6/12/2009 01:26:00 PM
Ben Smith at Politico just reported the following statement from the Department of Justice over their brief, filed last night, comparing gay marriage to incest:
As it generally does with existing statutes, the Justice Department is defending the law on the books in court. The president has said he wants to see a legislative repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act because it prevents LGBT couples from being granted equal rights and benefits. However, until Congress passes legislation repealing the law, the administration will continue to defend the statute when it is challenged in the justice system.
Yeah, you see, that’s an outright lie. Fortunately for you, and unfortunately for Justice, Joe and I are both lawyers. We suspected this betrayal was coming, so we read up on the law.
No. The Obama administration didn’t just lie to Politico, Obama lied to our community, or he lied to the court. But you don’t publicly call yourself a “fierce advocate” for gay rights, and then compare married gays to incest. You don’t make your first official legal statement on gay rights an outright attack on the underpinnings of our entire civil rights.
Our president had a choice. And he chose to throw us under the bus, and then knife us for good measure.

Hi webfoot:
Thanks for the extra video link for the interview!
All I could say was “ick!” to derogatory comments at the airamerica blog itself. They merely repeat the old double standard.
How could we expose their bias? Use the names of Obama’s kids as substitutes nd ask people if they think it’s OK to joke about those girls being “knocked up” by an adult male celebrity. Doesn’t matter if neither girl has gotten pregnant in real life. The celebrity doesn’t have to be a baseball player. Just pick a celebrity at some event the girls attended. It would be ideal if Jamie Foxx would appear at such an event. Then the “jokes” could begin.
Btw, I could swear I recall Miss Huffinpuff ranting about “knocked up” being a derogatory phrase. She has daughters. What about them? And what about herslf? When she got pregnant, did she think of it as being “kncked up” whether the pregnancies were planned or not?
Ah, phooey.

The most obvious was the bow.
Nobody who is not a Muslim would bow to the King of Mecca.

Email from Marcia Pappas, Pres NY NOW:
David Letterman obviously does not know the difference between humor and degrading women. Even when that women happens to be 14 years old.
Letterman’s sleazy, unsavory joke about Sarah Palin’s daughter has all of the markings of a typical misogynistic attitude that has been handed down through the generations. And that is men who think they own women, can say what they want and never care about the fall out of such disrespect.
Rape is a crime and it is no laughing matter. NOW New York State hopes that David Letterman will never have to confront a situation whereby a woman in his life is abused, or raped. Call CBS and express your disgust with Letterman and his sleazy jokes.

Some countries beat, rape and kill there women and daughters but not in the United States. No, we just make jokes and laugh about beating, raping and killing women.
David Shuster had to appologize to the Clintons for making a comment about pimping out Chelsea. Now Joy from the view, Air America, Huffy and or Media outlets are making the same comment about Palin pimping out her kids. Why no outrage?

ummm, 4 women per day are murdered in the US. That number doesn’t include rape, sexual assault, or beatings.

Sent the Letterman prowl e-mail to cbsmailbag@aol.com with BCC’s to the list in murphy’s post above. (The copy to Best Western was rejected by their server.) Also sent the prowl e-mail to my local CBS affiliate station with BCC’s to murphy’s list (again Best Western’s server rejected its copy). Received an e-mail response back from a woman at the local CBS affiliate station thanking me for my comments and saying she would also forward them to CBS in NY. Also filed FCC complaint:
Letterman said Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (who was in NY over the previous weekend) bought makeup to “update her slutty flight attendant look.” Gov. Palin also attended a Yankee game with her 14-year-old daughter Willow. Letterman said there was an awkward moment for Gov. Palin during the game’s 7th inning when Alex Rodriguez “knocked up her daughter.” Referring to a hard-working U.S. governor as “slutty,” referring to hard-working flight attendants as “slutty,” and referring to a 14-year-old female in a sexually violent manner is clearly obscene and indecent. Letterman should be publicly censured and fined, and, I believe, fired, for his so-called humor. We have no tolerance in the media for racism and religious bigotry. Why should we tolerate such blatant and disgusting sexism and misogyny (hatred for women) from the media? Thank you.

President Obama Appoints Antiabortion Pro-Obama Catholic to Senior Health Position – Causing Controversy
June 08, 2009 5:54 PM
President Obama has announced that Alexia Kelley, founder of the antiabortion group Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, will serve as the director of the Health and Human Services Department’s Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, arousing the ire of some abortion rights activists.
“Catholics in Alliance believes in the sanctity of all human life—from conception until natural death,” says the group’s website. “Our Catholic faith and the Catholic social tradition affirm that all life is sacred, and that every person has essential worth and dignity. Therefore, we support a consistent culture of life that includes protections for unborn children…”

Stands to reason approximately half of political candidates’ kids overall are male. When they walk onto a stage with their male children in tow, is that not Pimping Out Their Sons?
Then Joe Biden been “pimping out” his monly-mon son, Beau, for years! Or are we to believe he’s a good father prepping his son to follow in his giant footsteps?
Now think of all the White House photo ops with the president and his children. JFK did it constantly and it became yet another sore spot between him and Jackie. But sssh, can’t say anything b-a-d about JFK. He was brilliant and heroic. She, OTOH, was supposedly a traitor. And why? Because she wanted to get the hell away from papparazzi following her, just as they had followed her two young children for many years both during and after the Kennedy presidency.
So it seems, the press can pimp out kids, too. It’s an old tradition.

One of my Kool-Aid drinking friends tried to suggest to me that the only reason that The Precious has not stuck up for LGBT’s is because he has a very full plate and he should be given time. I pointed out that W2 had time to weigh in against gay rights in the DADT case in the SCOTUS and that flatly stated the opposite position in the campaign. He is pandering, he has no principles. Today hot, tomorrow cold, whatever serves “His Majesty.”
I sincerely believe that this administration is proving out is Christian bona fides with Republicans and gay hating Blacks. Hate is such a strong word and I am reluctant to use it here, but among many Black Christians their antipathy for gays rises to that level. Then again Black Muslims are hardly “gay friendly,” but he is certainly not currying favor in that group. At any rate, my people, are notoriously anti-gay. “Homo-pho-groes” you could call them, but probably shouldn’t. That’s about as bad as labeling Black Bushies like Rice and Powell, “Neo-groes.” Boy am I glad I talked my self out of that one.
Bottom line, there are constituencies that “Teh 0ne” must please and there are those that no longer matter. Guess what group LGBT’s are in. They are just another group kicked to the curb.

Webfoot, I watched the video of Matt Lauer’s interview and I agree. She pointed out the media bias during the campaign in calling Obama “the candidate that must be obeyed” when his family was off limits, but not anyone else’s. The media and our fearsome leaders already refer to anti-Jewish bigotry as a form of racism. If a religion can be re-defined as a race, then why not a gender? Secism and misogyny, you say? Bah, old-fashioned! Bigotry against women is a form of racism. Littleman is a racist.
Too many religious leaders seem to think of women as a separate race (if not an entirely different species?) from themselves; certainly women are a distinct class. But classism hardly fills the bill there.

New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb, a Republican, is calling on the CEO of CBS to fire David Letterman for crude comments he made about Sarah Palin and her daughter.
In the letter to CBS chief Les Moonves, Kolb said he took Letterman to task for the “shockingly inappropriate” jokes.
“As the proud father of a daughter, and as a husband, I wanted Mr. Moonves to hear from me directly about Mr. Letterman’s disparaging remarks,” Kolb said in a written statement.
“Firing Mr. Letterman would send a clear message that CBS will not tolerate any of its employees — even an established media figure like Mr. Letterman — making demeaning and degrading comments about women.”

social-I actually got the interview as it was happening too. I was checking the t.v. to make sure the digital broadcast was working the way it was supposed to since today is the day the conversion took place. I watched the entire interview because I figured msn would edit it they way CBS did with Katie Couric and I didn’t know what would make it to youtube or the evening news sound bites. Gov. Palin did an excellent job, as you stated in your summary, of keeping Lauer from interrupting her. I, too, liked the email reading.
Juliette 06.12.09 at 7:36 pm
I watched part of Governor Sarah Palin’s interview with Matt Lawler. She really just keeps impressing me more and more. Matt tries that bullshit about Letterman meaning Bristol and not Willow, as if that even matters. Palin fired back and told Lawler he was extremely nieve for beliving Lettermans excuse that took him two days to come up with.
Maybe it’s that Hillary Clinton is older and from another era of women who tend to put up and shut up. I hate to say this about the woman that I fought so hard to get elected, but Madam Secretary, you need to get your voice out there. It’s no longer personal and you won’t appear to be “to weak to take the heat.”
Sarah Palin’s comments about where our culture going and how dangerous and disgusting it is, is a statement that must be echoed by every woman, from the SOS to the single, teenage mom.
As for President O’Burka.
Your mother got pregnant at the age of 18 by an older man who had a co-wife in Kenya. Oh, I forgot “It is important for Western countries to avoid impeding Muslim citizens from practicing religion as they see fit.” My point is that Letterman’s violent insult of the Palin’s family should be seen as an insult to all women, especially your own mother.
But I waste my breath. You will remain silent on this issue I’m sure. After all, this kind of swamp misogyny got you elected.
And Ludicrios is a genious.

Apoparently millions of Americans are going to be left out of the digital conversion. I do know the converter won’t be much good for people whose antenna signal was weak when it was analog; the digital signal will be thinner, not stronger, because broadcasting a TV show is far down on the list of content being sent over the same digital pipeline, plus, digital doesn’t cover distances like analog, even with ghosting and snowy reception, can do. So some people will go from a less-than-perfect analog reception to no signal whatsoever.

I’m glad you tossed Tina Fey in there with ‘em. The final toss will be under Obama’s bus.
Or maybe that’s not quite right. Does Obama really run the bus, do they own him, or… maybe the third option is the closest to the truth, which is that those women and Obama ultimately work for the same bosses, much higher up the food chain than you and I might be able to see at this point.

Had to come back to point out that the major turnout in Iran was because of BO’s Speech in Cairo!!!!! Or am I misinterpreting the quote?
From the rose garden this morning (according to a British newspaper – but sounds right!)
“We are excited to see what appears to be a robust debate taking place in Iran and obviously, after the speech that I made in Cairo, we tried to send a clear message that we think there’s a possibility of change. And ultimately, the election is for the Iranians to decide. But just as what has been true in Lebanon, what can be true in Iran as well, is that you’re seeing people looking at new possiblities. And whoever ends up winning the election in Iran, the fact that there’s been a robust debate hopefully will help advance our ability to engage them in new ways.”

I’m finding it difficult to feel sorry for people who won’t be able to watch tv – it’s not like they didn’t advertise this shit for over a year and then extend the time period so we taxpayers could keep paying for the converter boxes becuz they just weren’t ready & as for the nonsense that english is not their language then how the hell do they understand what they’re watching on tv anyway…………….this country has been dumbed down so much that sympathy is not there……….just sayin’ – oh shit guess that makes me a racist or some such shit – ask me if i care….

I know. That was the first time you changed the sequence to POWA. I’m fine with “Protection Of Women Always” but your “?” plus no1what’s orignal, all added up to the matter being open for further ideas.
How does it all look and sound when we string together the 2 abbreviations in their long forms:
People United Means Action
Protection of Women Always
Whatcha think? In my screen font, the 2 lines match up perfectly re. length. Yes, 26 characters each line. Way to go, Dances!

Here is the response I received from Olive Garden regarding Letterman:
“June 12, 2009
Thank you for expressing your concerns about Olive Garden and allowing us an opportunity to respond.
We understand your concern about Mr. Letterman’s inappropriate comments. Olive Garden screens all network television programs and we plan schedules accordingly, especially in regard to shows with objectionable content. Some shows, like The David Letterman Show, are taped on a daily basis and there is not an opportunity to review the content prior to airing. The content of the dialogue on the June 8th show is not consistent with Olive Garden’s standards and values. We have joined many of our valued guests in voicing our concern to CBS, and we will adjust our plans accordingly as we have done in the past when such situations occur. Your feedback will certainly be taken into consideration as we review our future advertising schedule.
Again, thank you for contacting us with your comments, and we hope you will continue to think of Olive Garden as a place to visit with your family and friends.”

Jeez, the Obama administration really seem to like pissing off the British Government. (although Brown is too weak to say much)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8098341.stm
A senior US official has told the BBC Washington decided not to tell London ahead of time about a deal to resettle four Guantanamo detainees in Bermuda.
A diplomatic row blew up over Bermuda’s decision to accept the four Chinese Muslim Uighurs on a US request.
Bermuda is a British overseas territory but the US official said Washington had acted secretly to ensure success.
…
In a highly unusual move, a senior US official said Washington opted to keep details of the deal from London until the last minute to enable Britain to deny all knowledge of the deal and thus avoid China’s anger, says the BBC’s Washington correspondent Kim Ghattas.
The official said they expected London to be upset but added he felt the deal was made on solid ground, in direct talks with the Bermuda government, who accepted the men as part of guest worker programme.
Bermuda blamed
Britain, meanwhile, has expressed anger that it was not consulted, saying in a Foreign Office statement: “The Bermuda government consider this to be a matter regarding their day-to-day responsibility for immigration.
“We have underlined to the Bermuda government that it should have consulted the UK on whether this falls within their competence or is a foreign affairs or security issue for which the Bermuda government do not have delegated responsibility.”
For the time being London has reserved its expressions of ire for Bermuda, with a spokesman for the UK prime minister insisting Bermuda bore “the primary responsibility for ensuring that the constitutional requirements on the Bermudan government were adhered to”.
Britain is supposed to handle Bermuda’s defence, security and foreign affairs, but it delegates the authority to make decisions on immigration to Bermuda.
The Foreign Office said it would “also be looking at the operation of the ‘General Entrustment’ which gives Bermuda the authority to conduct certain external relations on our behalf”.
Britain is also now helping Bermuda carry out a security assessment of the resettled detainees.

ust FYI re. laws against Being Gay in many countries…
Muslim-dominant nations are not the only ones, though they’re among the very worst for the obvious reasons of using rape, torture, and murder to punish innocent people. Saudi Arabia rises to mind in this regard (always!).
Chile is an example of a nation where it’s no longer illegal, yet still dangerous:
http://www.globalgayz.com/country/Chile/CHL
and more bothersome details at
http://www.ilga.org/news_results.asp?FileCategory=7&ZoneID=7&FileID=1078
“In 1999, Marta Alvarez, a lesbian prisoner in Colombia, petitioned the Inter-American Commission for equal access to conjugal visits. In October, 2001, the Supreme Court of Colombia, in a separate case, handled by the same feminist lawyer, ordered that conjugal prison visits for a lesbian couple take place on the same basis as those for heterosexual couples. This ruling was not applied to the case of Marta Alvarez until November, 2002. In 2004 the Supreme Court in Chile removed three children from the custody of their mother, Karen Atala, a judge, who had publicly stated that she was a lesbian.”
Notice that contrary to popular claims that gay men suffer more than gay women from discrimination, the examples in Chile are lesbians!
The article says this too:
“Western states also fear that including sexual orientation issues in the UN agenda will further polarize debates in Geneva and New York, in a period in which Islam must be shown some respect in the hopes of taming its extremists. Representatives of Muslim states say they have no bargaining room on the issue. It is a religious, a cultural, a traditional matter.”
Respect?

Who Can We Bank On, Who Who Can We Trust, as Crisis Sharpens?
Washington Seems Tethered At The Hip To Wall Street and Does It’s Bidding
“A new analysis from a government watchdog group shows senators who killed off a consumer-friendly change in law aimed at addressing the foreclosure crisis received more money in campaign contributions from the industries their vote aided. Senators who voted against the consumer-friendly amendment received $3.98 million from the financial industry during the 2008 election cycle, while proponents of the bill received $2.65 million.”
Could this be more corruption? Of course, but they call it politics as usual.

While we will protest loudly against the sexist attacks on Palin and her daughters, we are under NO illusion that Republican groups or talking heads would have our backs if the target were a Democratic or left-leaning woman.

Privacy May Be a Victim in Cyberdefense Plan
THOM SHANKER And DAVID E. SANGER

One must wonder if all the recent progress made by the GLBT community, prompted Ozero to “put us back in our place”
Barbera Jordan
“If the society today allows wrong to go unchallenged, the impression is created that those wrongs have the approval of the majority.”
Andrew Sullivan:
I think we can summarize: the brief is (just about) defensible; its full contents are way over the line; someone in the DOJ must have understood that and decided to file it anyway – without even consulting anyone in the gay community. The deployment of arguments that refer to our relationships as equivalent to incest, that demand that we simply marry someone of the opposite sex if we want our civil rights, that implies federal recognition of our civil marriages would mean taxing some Americans to pay for something they abhor: this is simply salt in the wound, and it will be deployed and used by every far right gay-hater in the future, and cited as endorsed by the Obama administration. In the context of Obama’s failure to fulfill any of his pledges to the gay community since he took office, this is terribly deflating.
We are asked to be patient, and that is fair enough. But we should not be asked to be attacked in this gratuitous manner, shut out of dialogue beforehand, and applaud. We did that for eight years under Clinton. Never again.

Here’s a couple comments from the link I posted at #209
1)
NC-Tom, yes, they’re clueless, because they aren’t thinking about it. But there is a level in all of us that knows exactly what is happening. We can cast a veil of denial over our eyes, but then we aren’t being honest with ourselves.
Don’t
Even
Notice
I
Am
Lying
I learned the way children bury – forget – unbearable memories is to never look back. They still carry them in every cell of their bodies, but on a conscious level they have no memory. I have two brothers. Our childhood was horrific and both my brothers spent years hating our parents for all the things they did. Now, my second brother thinks he had a wonderful childhood with near perfect parents. My oldest son’s jaw is hanging open because he remembers the stories he used to hear from that brother. People can tell themselves anything and believe it if that’s what they want to do. I don’t judge my brother for that. He’s doing the best he can to get through life, and I hope it works for him.
So people want to believe the US is out spreading peace and freedom everywhere it goes. They cling to the belief that we are a great and honorable country. They get defensive and angry if someone tries to give them facts. They don’t want facts disturbing their belief system.
When the people fear their government there is tyranny,
when the government fears the people there is liberty.
~ Thomas Jefferson
2)
I did trust Obama.
I would say shoot me, but I already did.
To
Radically
Underestimate
Someone’s
Treachery.
But only once.

Why are we paying taxes if we don’t have equal rights?
We should have to pay second class taxes… prorated for the rights we do not share with the rest of the adult population of the US. They sure don’t mind us paying taxes to help raise and provide daycare, and educate, and feed, and provide healthcare for their children though, or to fight and die in their wars.

If what Letterman said was towards an African American woman, the tune would be quite different – I was watching CNN about the Lone Wolf Hate Crimes, which is about white supremacists committing hate crimes. There is a role reversal of Whites vs Blacks – that the white man is subconsciously fighting for “survival” may have some truth in it. A white man may think twice about saying that about Bristol or Willow because he knows the consequences. However, saying that about a white woman, there is a better chance of him getting away with it and as someone said, the laughter got louder. I don’t see the joke anywhere. To those laughing, perhaps they should imagine Letterman saying that about their wife, sister, mother etc…

The whole administration are a bunch of fricken hypocrites.
Get this:
Elena Kagan
the Solicitor General who argued the DADT before the Supreme Court Monday….saying “”rationally related to the government’s legitimate interest in military discipline and cohesion,”
is the same
Elena Kagan
when she was the dean of the Harvard School of Law, said this “because open and avowed homosexuals are not allowed to serve in the military, colleges and universities that allow military recruiters on the campus are aiding and abetting discrimination.”
————————–
Now please someone explain to me “like I am a three year old”… how one person can fight both these battles in a lifetime.. and NOT be a hypocrite.
murphy 06.13.09 at 1:26 am
invalid, I can explain it to you as if you are a three year old.
“You’re right sweetheart! Elena Kagan IS a hypocrite! What a smart girl you are!”
When she was at Harvard, she sang for her supper. Now she’s in the administration, she’s still singing for her supper.

“This outrageous act reminds us that we must remain vigilant against anti-Semitism and prejudice in all its forms,” Obama said Wednesday.
I guess that “prejudice in all its forms” does not apply to the GLBT community?????
bigoted hypocrite!!!

Why I Now Support Gay Marriage

from dwp’s link”
“Equal civil marriage should, and likely will, pass because of the public’s growing unwillingness to sustain inequality. Society will also be strengthened as more people take responsibility for one another in marriage. I now encourage others who oppose gay marriage to re-examine the reasons they do so, and to consider changing their minds too.”
nice.

In 1850 the US Congress passed the Fugitive Slave Act, which forced federal officials to return “runaway” slaves to their owners in the South. Free northern states were not only not required to protect the rights of free African Americans they were required to ARREST AND RETURN escapees to slavery. This act was so outrageous to the free north that it inspired Harriet Beecher Stowe to write Unlce Toms Cabin and is now acknowledged to have been a major catalyst of the Civil War. Obama’s support of DOMA is akin to supporting the Fugitive Slave Act and the Separate but Equal abomination of Plessy v Ferguson.
No patriotic, moral American can give obama a free pass on this. Our Constitution guarantees EQUAL RIGHTS AND PROTECTION to ALL citizens. Designating CLASSES of citizens is deeply unpatriotic and is utterly unacceptable.

Today is the 42nd anniversary of Loving v. Virginia, the Supreme Court case overturning Virginia’s ban on inter-racial marriages. The Obama people, working for the product of an inter-racial marriage, sure have an eye for irony.

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran declared President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the winner Saturday of an election that pitted the conservative establishment against candidate with broad backing from the country’s youth. Riot police attacked opposition supporters, beating them with clubs and smashing cars.
A statement from Mousavi posted on his Web site condemned what he described as the “manipulation” of election results.
