Obama first. With his Teleprompters and well scripted and delivered speech he was fresh off his first big loss and it was a bi partisan loss at that. I saw right through his pretty words – I found myself wishing his tellies would go down so he wouldn’t know where to go next. Anyway I have never seen such a display of “I” this, “I” that and “I” the other thing- boy has this guy got a case of omnipotence.
And while talking transparency on one hand and bashing the last administration on the other it became apparent Obama was on the defense himself ( more on that later) he brought on but did not seem to be expecting the last administration to defend itself. In other words what a load of hog wash – so far he has accomplished lots of great words but very little positive action and we are still waiting for him to do more that yak at us all day every day.
When will this guy shut the hell up and do something besides blame everything on past administrations. He started his speech by telling us what a hard job this is and what challenges he has to face- helllllo- we could have told him that! That is exactly why we wanted the more experienced Hillary Clinton to be president!
Cheney who was already scheduled to speak on national defense weeks ago found himself preempted by Obama and oddly enough and without teleprompter nor any time to draft a well thought out retort served up a tough and resounding reply that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Cheney’s defense was sound and made Obama’s attack on them sound foolish compared to Cheney’s reasoning and when Cheney clarified ( several times) that Obama reserved only to himself the right to put back into use the same enhanced interrogation techniques he just claimed to have completely outlawed based on a fifteen minute Constitutional and moral dissertation , I could hardly breathe.
Next Cheney took on Obama’s claims regarding the release of enhanced interrogation techniques but his refusal to release the results of the use of those procedures. Obama had just explained since the notion of water boarding was already out there he thought releasing that tidbit was appropriate however releasing the results may incite terrorists.
Cheney debunked that as ridiculous stating until Obama released the information – it was only conjecture and that the releasing thereof would incite both at home without releasing the benefits. He again stressed if Obama was going to be that morally and constitutionally opposed then he should not have reserved for himself the right to reinstitute its use.”
Sing it, Betty Jean! And speaking of President Oshutupalready, his Teleprompter (that’s a picture of him up top next to Darth Cheney) was not impressed with the address the speechwriters loaded into his memory for President OlookmaIcanread to read aloud:
“let’s turn a negative into a win-win: make the guys in Guantanamo have to sit through that and let’s see what happens. Waterboarding might be preferable.
That speech was so long, a full day without a terrorist attack passed by.”

regarding California Supreme Court prop 8 decision
Rumors that a decision will be handed down on Thursday, May 21, regarding the validity of Proposition 8 are rampant in the state, and precautions are being taken regardless of the sway of the ruling.
The California Supreme Court announces its decisions on Mondays and Thursdays and in most cases will give 24-hour advance notice of the announcement. The deadline for the court’s decision is June 3, 2009.

hello my PUMA family. I have been reading this post, and only one thing concerns me: the idea that Islam sucks!!!I would say that islamic extremists suck, that catholics extremists suck, that Christians extremists suck, that Jehova’s Witnesses extremists suck!!! When dealing with religions, we should show some respect for many years or traditions, yet, we should separate man from religion, because is the man who has criminal instinct, it is the man who interprets religion in his own way, and uses religion to his own advantage. How many Catholics are excellent people? How many Christians are excellent people? How many Islamists are excellent people too? I think that if we want to be fair, we should stop categorizing any religion and judging it for its members. It shows our lack of knowledge and tolerance above all, and we should respect the faith, although the man might be someone who deserves no respect.
Just because the Catholic church burned people in the past, I refuse to say that all Catholicism sucks. Every religion has its own positive and not so positive approaches, but we are not pure to criticize any faith. Instead, we should focus on those who profess that religion that have made it look terribly bad. I am sorry to say this, but I have always tried to be fair, and we have been very unfair. Yes, extreme Islamists blew up those planes, but they have used their faith to hide their most obscure instincts.

gotta disagree with you there oscarp — we’ve been over this many many times. moral relativism is an excellent tool to use in this case, as is a relative comparison between islam as it is practiced today and how it is used by the state to advance state power versus catholicism or protestantism or judaism as it is practiced today, and I think the obvious conclusion all honest people will come to is:
Islam sucks.
If in some hypothetical future world islam becomes the private practice of individuals who merely expect to be allowed to worship their idols in their own way, then fine — at that point I’ll concede that islam is no better or worse than any other monotheistic group.
people always want to compare islam to christianity AS IT WAS — 300, 400, 600 years ago.
anyway, it’s not Christianity versus Islam. It’s democracy and freedom, the United States, versus islam.

My lack of knowledge many years ago was what allowed me to believe that Islam is a religion of peace and that Islamic terrorism was a result of a radical interpretation of the Koran.
Then I studied Arabic, the Koran and traveled in the so called “moderate Muslim countries.” I learned that Islam is a radical ideology, violent in nature and an unchangable political system. Trying to say that Christianity has done the kind of damage that Islam has done to the world is ridiculous. At the time of the crusades, two religious institutions were poised to dominate the world. I’d venture to say that the better one by far prevailed, and thank God for that.
When comparing Christianity to Islam, why not do the smart thing and compare the life of Jesus to the life of Mohammed. Christianity is after all about the teachings of Jesus Christ.
America today is the world’s most fundamentally Christian nation. Why not compare life here to life in, say Saudi Arabia.
In Islam a woman’s value is half that of a man’s. I wonder how Madalyn Albright feels about that. Where are the Mother Teressa’s in the Muslim faith? I could go on for pages, but what I really want to stress is that:

I am struggling to get a grasp on the concept of Islam. I know from my experience as a manager of a restaurant in NYC in the shadow of the tragedies I bit my lip when the guys who worked for me repeatedly made homophobic statements in my presence. In those dark days I chose not to react as they were persons I knew and had worked with well. I could have fired each and everyone but I attempted to relate to what it must be like to have the world looking down on you– oops I had already experienced that and my attempts to provide empathy was greeted with disdain and ridicule. Still I could have fired them all even after being told I was going to burn in hell. I wonder if it is our compassion that will be our demise.

Don’t know about you but I have a young child in my life and even a hint of anything akin to Shit law makes me lose my mind. As I said above in NYC after 9/11 I was willing to permit people to denegrate me as I felt they were under constant scrutiny and I could handle it, and it made them feel better by putting someone else down but I will never permit my little one to go through the same thing. I don’t post her often as I find it a bit anti-male and I respect the need to vent, but if I just popped in without knowing the genesis of the movement I might feel put off.
And to anyone from stupidpumas who so easily refers to the posters here in dimunitive terms when they express disdain for Islam, do me a favor look at your mothers, daughters. sisters, aunts and nieces and then take a REAL look at the practices which take place in muslem countries. Simply google women islam abuse and I hope you’ll think again before you jump on a bandwagon.

If I had a blog back in the days of the crusades, I’d write that Christianity is a religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. It was not created in any way to be a political system. It IS a religion that is most capable of reform.
I was not alive during the crusades. I am alive today and as I see it, Islam has not reformed in 1400 years-because it cannot.
Muslims are not free to question Islam. Mohammed (for Muslims)will always be the perfect example of how to live. Nothing that was acceptable in Mohammed’s life can be found unacceptable today in Islam. Constantly refering to events that we can only read about in history books instead of looking at what is happening right here and now in our own country, only helps the cause to spread Islam.
When I said that America was the most fundamentally Christian nation in the world today, I did not mean that it was not a secular nation. Every country with a Christian majority is a secular nation. I think that says alot about what Christianity is compared to Islam.

Hmm sounds like bambi to me. Before PUMA was an entity I remember hearing it speak about how people should raise their children. Granted I agreed with what he said about parents using the TV as a babysitter but I do not believe it falls within the purview of the office of the president to tell me in what manner I may raise my children. Not even FOX made an issue of it– same with the first Klingon lady saying it is going to require of us that we contribute to volunteer work. No major news organization to umbrage at a a mandate for volunteerism. I had been, at that time, teaching kiids with their parents to read together and I stopped because the entire place had bambi fever. What I would love to know is how many hours the pretenders logged doing unpaid work. Being a community organizer does not count as the stub was paid for it.

I am sorry if you found any comments at puma to be anti-male. I hope that more men will feel welcome at Pumapac and have expressed that to Murphy. I believe she has taken necessary mesures to discourage posts that are hateful towards men, or those of us accused of being male.
I understand your comment, because I too took a good look at my young nieces, starting about the time of the stonings of Hillary Clinton and then Sarah Palin. I see a culture that is declining and becoming desensitized to violence against women. In affect we are more vulnerable to the expansion of Islam because our acceptance of misogyny.
I hope this trend towards sugar coating Islam will soon go out of style. You would think that the recent arrests made today would sober people up. If they don’t the world will be a very unwelcoming place for our daughters, nieces, and grand-daughters.
We can’t have that.

I don’t know how many hours of volunteer work the Obama’s did or how much second hand smoke Sascha and Maliya had to inhale before their self centered father decided to clean up his image for the presidential campaign. I do know that the 2007 tax records of both the Obama’s and the Biden’s (disclosed during the election) were a disgrace to all things charitable. I used to like and respect Joe Biden very much. That was until I saw the tax returns. I was not surprised by the Obama’s though; ‘always knew they were hypocrits.
No need to mention that the Clintons, Palins and McCains were much more generous givers by far.

I pop in at least once a day to read and I make every effort to dispense the realities to those I can who are subjected to the eternal love fest by the major media for icky. Big media is only going to fawn and I take every opportunity to grasp on his missteps to make others think. I get a wealth of info here and of course I validate every point before reiterating and I respect the need to lash out at the deplorable treatment of women during the last election cycle– I actually found it refreshing as a gay man that women stood up for Ms California here. I know gay men who lost their minds over her statement but are giving the pretender a pass on everything.
Bottem line is if my little crap machine decides to pursue a career in medicine it will be with the knowledge that she can be a doctor and not limit herself if she wants to go into law she will be a lawyer not a paralegal. So if I can learn from the struggles/displacement/belittlement/rage/hopelessness of women and listen and teach her I am worthy of her trust.
Again I implore anyone making fun of my post to take a look at a person in their life who is female and then take a look at the practice of Islam as it exists and as it is written and then take another look at a woman you care about and ask yourself is this right?

Juliette, I am learning I do not care what the men think… since I have experience with highly educated men, who, when you point out the sexism in their midst they tell you that is utter bullshit… and then when further pressed and squeezed and pressed, you find they are “sympathetic” to the cause, but that your (my) pushing the issue is turning them AGAINST it…
I call shenanigans on that. It is their easy out to turn against something that threatens the very power structure they depend on to get ahead in life…

Just a thought,
ON one hand Carpathia is preaching how Islam is just wonderful and we should all be more “tolerant”. On the other hand he is expanding our wars in the middle east and increasing our military presence there and you can bet our intelligence agencies are working over time in the region.
Is this simple insanity or something else? I’ve been thinking about the goals of these policies.

Teach your children well.
Sadly it seems to me that it all comes down to the mother within the present paradigm. I have spent the last two years scouring info about just how to make a child happy and almost everything I have read is only pertinent in western society with regards to the mother. Very little about dad’s role. And the one’s that did deal with the father were kinda sad.
So let em all call you stupid PUMAs and take your arguments out of context and place them on a blog– I say thank you as I can teach the young female persons in my life a tremendous amount as a result of your collective fervor. I said it before, but I have used the actions taking by Murphy in creating this blog with young girls. 9 and 10 year olds talking to them about having their voice heard. Had they felt like when they spoke no one listened. If so what do you do. Then I used PUMA as an example free of politics but I let them know they can react. Have to say I wish I had had me as a teacher.

Sorry can not agree with you on this one. They have been given marching orders and those orders are to destroy the opposition. Alinsky’s methods were centered around the judeo-christian system. Imagine if you will if one or two of the people aboard either flight which crashed into the towers had said wait a minute this is a fucker hijacking a frigging plane and has already killed lets stop him. Well we know what would happen as it took place in Pennsylvania
