“Reports today suggest that Democratic officials promised Specter that the party establishment would support him, rather than a real Democrat, in a primary. If true, few events more vividly illustrate the complete lack of core beliefs of Democratic leaders, as well as the rapidly diminishing differences between the parties.”

Sorry Glenn, but I think THIS event most vividly illustrated the complete lack of core beliefs of Democratic leaders.

Oh, and THIS and THIS and THIS too.

What took you so long to figure it out??

(Oh, and THIS. Geez, I better stop now or I’ll have 150 links in this post.)

In case you’ve forgotten; or forgot to click on the link above, Here’s a partial list of the super delegates who changed their votes to obama from clinton after obama paid them off. These are representatives from states and districts where Clinton WON the primaries — in several cases by more than 60 points.

Add to that the 4 Michigan delegates the RBC gave obama, as well as the holding back the florida and michigan full counts of delegates until AFTER clinton was forced out of the race, and I think you have a good strong case that the hobbling of Hillary Clinton was the

MOST VIVID illustration of “the complete lack of core beliefs of Democratic leaders.”

!!!

“Baron Hill! Congressman from Indiana! Call
202-225-5315. ($12,500 from Obama. $2,500 from Clinton. Hillary won

He had a long record selling to the right wing as favorite negro. The payoff was office of civil rights where he failed to press race OR age discrimination cases. So natch Bush sr thought of him first to fill Thurgood Marshall’s seat.

Bqueen, thanks for the heads up. The pic is worth a peek on a day of such disconcerting news. But the mygtv.net link didn’t work for me.

I found one working alternate in case anyone needs it:
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h124/Roscoe_Karns/obama_subway-grate.jpg

P.S. I’m not quiiite sure what to make of the other pics by Karns (in your browser, go up a level to the “Roscoe_Karns/”directory in order to see thumbnails). I’m not going to link directly because he has pics picking on HRC with Bill, and another of her in an old British Navy sort of get up, a la Gilbert & Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore, with SOS on her hat, and POTUS The Perp eyeing her from behind while he smokes a cigarette. AFAICT, all objects of his derision are in the Democrat wing of the duopoly.

Multinational forces storm Mayport beach for drills

The surprise scene at the shore startled beachgoers, but readied the troops.

During the past week, the troops – Marines from the U.S. and six countries in Central and South America, as well as soldiers from Canada – worked together at Camp Blanding, fast-roping out of helicopters, firing weapons and sharing tactics.

I’d like to red ink this tip for Obama: follow Cuba’s lead, if you don’t mind, and restrict travel to/from Mexico as much as possible under the circumstances. Order the CDC to track back all recent arrivals from Mexico, e.g. the 10 or so young students from a small town (not sure exactly where but in either NYS or CT). Their school is now closed because they have become ill with flu-like symptoms, leaving officials and families understandably afraid.

Hey Obie, people really do not know how to react! They need help. Hygiene hasn’t been taught as a subject lately in many U.S. schools. IIRC, studies of hygiene habits tell us only approx. 70% of women and 60% of men wash their hands at all when they use public restrooms. The percentage might increase now. But will it even be enough? Does soap take care of the virus? Anti-bacterial soaps aren’t the same as anti-viral, so… what can & should people do?

scarlet and HP Boston:

We’ve had too many conflicting reports on the flu’s origins. Late last week, an early Reuters wire story, supposedly based on CDC info, explicitly stated the virus had *not* actually been found in pigs anywhere, much less led to any illness or death in pigs or any human near pigs. The lack of connection to pigs was very noticeable in those reports, even and especially since the name of “swine flu” was being used. Another contradiction was the CDC’s statement that the virus was a new mix of human + swine + bird DNA– all three, not just one.

— begin excerpt —

“FACTBOX: New flu strain is a genetic mix”
Reuters / Fri Apr 24, 2009
http://www.reuters.com/article/healthNews/idUSTRE53N4ZC20090424

* The World Health Organization has confirmed at least some of the cases are a never-before-seen strain of influenza A virus, carrying the designation H1N1.

* Although it’s called swine flu, this new strain is not infecting pigs and has never been seen in pigs. The threat is person to person transmission.

* It is genetically different from the fully human H1N1 seasonal influenza virus that has been circulating globally for the past few years. The new flu virus contains DNA typical to avian, swine and human viruses, including elements from European and Asian swine viruses.

US slams Russian moves to block meat imports

MOSCOW – Russia widened a ban Tuesday on meat imports from Mexico and some U.S. states, prompting objections from the United States, which noted that eating meat has nothing to do with getting swine flu.

Rosselkhodnadzor, Russia’s veterinary watchdog, added New York and Ohio to the list of U.S. states barred from exporting meat into Russia. Earlier, Russia banned meat products from Mexico and three U.S. states _ Texas, Kansas and California _ as the number of swine flu cases escalated and crossed international borders.

But the U.S. slammed the ban, stating that the disease was not spread through meat products.

The World Health Organization has said the virus does not spread through eating infected pork.

Under international trade laws, countries are allowed to block imports on health and safety grounds if there is scientific evidence of potential risks.

On Specter switching teams… he was the one who said the primary was unconstitutional when the DNC threw out the votes of FL & MI. He said that congress should act quickly on the matter, and then he did not push the issue further… perhaps struck a deal instead?

“…the DNC is violating one of the most fundamental of all constitutional rules, that once a vote is cast it must be counted. This constitutional principle, pronounced by the United States Supreme Court since Ex parte Yarborough (1884) and reiterated as recently as Gray v. Sanders (1963), is simply beyond reproach. This rock-bottom constitutional demand applies to primaries as well as general elections. United States v. Classic (1941). Reiterating black letter law stated in Harper v. Virginia Board of Elections (1966), the high court reasserted in Bush v. Gore (2000) that “once granted the right to vote on equal terms, the State may not, by later arbitrary and disparate treatment, value one person’s vote over that of another.” – Sen. Arlen Spector
