I just watched the video that Casper Cat posted downstairs. It is very good. I saw a sign that said “You can’t fix stupid, but you can vote it out!”

Seems GE Shareholders are upset with GE & MSNBC..when questioning coverage..postive “ONLY” on “O”, they had micp.’s cut off…on them. Seems the people who own shares in the company, can’t even complain!! Who really owns them..now??

Talking about burqua’s, no simplicity pattern is needed. Found a patten on the internet that I posted the other day and it could be designed with a ruler. No curves. The white burqua reminded me of a nun’s outfit………boy, good thing I am no longer a Catholic or I would get a whack with that ruler.

Kudos to any PUMA that can put one of those on for a protest. What will your signs say? Honk for finally passing the ERA? Honk for condemning sexism and misogyny?

Murphy – you still looking to experience a California earthquake ? I don’t know if Fred is a barometer for it but if it is, his services sure are very high priced. :)

FreddieBrown,

FYI – Goof acts funny if the EQ is going to be above a 2… I always check this link to see if that’s why before I worry about him… :)

Are you visiting any of the colleges here?

27

rancho, yep — claremont-mckenna and pomona and harvey mudd.

USC on friday.

32

BillieJo 04.23.09 at 12:50 am

Just a thought…if O’jackass didn’t care so much about climbing to the top of the ladder…he could have been patient, not cheated in the primary and possibly have been picked for VP, put on his training wheels for 8 years, learned from Hillary, not have to clean up Bush’s mess, and run for Pres 8 years later when Hillary laid all the ground work for him. He could have been in DC for 16 years.
Then again, the DNC knew Hillary wouldn’t be their puppet, and it was BO’s ego that would make it easy for them.
All the damage that is being done by BO, who knows when the Dems will ever have another chance unless Hillary decides to run again…
Just thinkin’…………

35

Rancho 04.23.09 at 1:00 am

ooooooh! If I could break away! It would take me under 10 minutes to be there!

Daughters both went to Claremont High, and hubby did graduate work at CGU. Claremont Colleges have a wonderful “feel” to them, and those three
have great reputations? What’s her major. (I have a friend who is a professor at Pomona.)

A must . . go to “Some Crust” for great sweets :)

“Pizza and Such” for lunch, or maybe Heroes (beer and sandwiches), or Dansens/Espiaus-eclectic, mexican.

36

murphy 04.23.09 at 1:02 am

politcal science and economics Rancho — thanks for the inside scoop!

what’s a good place for ice cream?

37

Rancho 04.23.09 at 1:08 am

In the village. . . .there IS an ice cream, candy store, but don’t remember the name. The colleges are in the village, and locals/sudents can direct you.
Also, an extention of the village has lately been completed, west of Indian Hill Called the “Packing House”, a cluster of new shops. “21 Choices” is my daughter’s and husbands favorite.

38

Rancho 04.23.09 at 1:14 am

I think I’m done with politics. This *system* is finished. Yeah, we might get more bullshit from the media about “recovery” but by November everyone is going to see that growth-based economics destroyed America and is taking down a huge chunk of the world.
People shame those who took out no money down housing loans with little or no credit. But credit is credit, and it always means the same thing. A person doesn’t have the money to pay for what they want RIGHT NOW so they are willing to sell their tomorrows and their children’s and grandchildren’s future to get it. Oh, yeah, they can always just file *bankruptcy* if it doesn’t work out. But they all support the overvaluation and inflation of everything in the name of *growth* when it isn’t growth at all.
It’s just plain social and economic slavery and regression.
When I was growing up, bankruptcy was a mark of shame. That was back when people still had pride and integrity. They worked hard and saved until they could afford things.
Maybe I’m just feeling a bit of bitterness from working with so many people all the fucking time who just because they weren’t as down with the games, ended up broken, beaten, and devastated.
I’m not sure I believe we are all born equal. Some are gifted. some are born more beautiful or physically attractive, more intelligent, get more breaks, come from wealthier backgrounds or have some athletic or musical or other artistic talents that set them apart. Some are born with developmental disabilities. Some just too trusting.
I’m glad to see this system come to an end. I’m glad I didn’t let it make me selfish, or rob me of compassion and empathy. Maybe I can use *my* talents to help rebuild a world that is more equitable for all, regardless of gender, sex, financial status, race, etc.
Not saying I’m into socialism, or Marxism, or facism or capitalism, or any “isms”. Just some type of system, perhaps modeled after native cultures that provide for equality for all and compassion for the less fortunate. I’m exhausted and going to bed. I didn’t mean to offend anyone.
Good night, everyone.

Unemployment figures released
This recession on track to be worst for job loss in history.

6,400 new claims filed last week

Average has been 614,000

6.1 million continued unemployment claims.

71

Sorry too early

New claims 640,000 filed last week

72

sistermoon3 04.23.09 at 9:35 am

what is really gonna be sad is come august when school starts back there will be teachers in those filing for unemployment unless things change. I just heard on the radio this morning here in my own county that it is being recommended that 160 teachers be handed the pink slips due to lack of funds, so much for the great educational support:(

73

KerryLINY 04.23.09 at 9:52 am

Clinton discussing her policies with respect to disadvantaged women internationally.

“We have a very fundamental disagreement,” Clinton told Smith, describing how she had seen women suffering in Africa, Latin America and Asia because of inadequate family planning and health care.

“It is my strongly held view that you are entitled to advocate, and everyone who agrees with you should be free to do so, anywhere in the world and so are we,” Clinton said. “We happen to think that family planning is an important part of women’s health and reproductive health includes access to abortion that I believe should be safe, legal and rare.”

She does sound more credible and in control of what they are doing compared to BO that keeps getting caught up pallying with dictators.

Murphy and Murphy Jr.,
Enjoy Southern CA. I happen to like that area better. I think it is because of the climate and the people. Just a friendlier place IMO.

Please tell your daughter that it was a pleasure to meet her, and I wish her the best in whatever decision is makes for her future.

I don’t understand the reasoning behind front paging swaths of a negative in-fighting article from a critic. Maybe it’s simply to add more fuel to the fire and keep an otherwise minor controversy going? Maybe it’s a matter of ‘my retort is bigger than your retort’.
Sad, on both sides.
Oh, well.

Was so happy to read that you and Mjr are leaning toward UC-B. West coast cities are similar to East coast cities / states in attitude based on latitude, i.e. SFO – Northern CA similar to Northeaster cosmopolitan cites. Southern CA like southeastern states, with a bit more cultural input and flux. Friendly, beautiful, with pockets of stellar exceptions, still Alabama.
