Not. Treasury Secretary Geithner’s much anticipated announcement of the new Bank Bailout plan was basically, ahh, um, meaningless. All I can think to say after watching it is, Tim Geithner reminds me of Leonard Nimoy.
“This was just a broad outline of a plan – not a specific plan.”
Great! Just what we need: NOT a plan.
But at least we now know what the new Bank Bailout should be called: Bad Assets Relief Fund. BARF.
Senate set to vote any minute on the Stimulus Swindle Package Muddle. It’s not too late to call:

Here’s a graph, via dakinikat, of the efficacy of government spending on growing the economy. Yes, government spending DOES grow the economy if it’s done right. IF IT’S DONE RIGHT.
For every $2.00 the government spends on expanding food stamps, unemployment benefits, and infrastructure, the economy grows by about $1.75. For every $2.00 the government spends on corporate tax cuts and tax cuts for the welathy, the economy grows by about 28 cents.

OBAMA’S THUGS AND GOONS: “GRAB YOUR TORCH ‘N PITCHFORKS”
Would you give a heroin addict who overdosed a speed ball? No. You would throw him in a padded cell so he could go through withdrawal. America needs an intervention. America needs withdrawal. Painful? Yes. But necessary.Mr. President, We Disagree___________________________________________Remember Obama’s directive to action? OBAMA TO SUPPORTERS: “GET IN THEIR FACE!”
This is remarkable in what it points to. Harassing businessmen at their homes is so …. Chavez. This is a government created crisis. Business is the cure, not the disease. Blaming the banks for what was forced upon them is the narrative the left is constructing. The banks were forced to make these bad loans for decades. Government doesn’t know the first thing about running a business, which is why we are in the pickle we are in. The answer is not trillions to moochers and looters. The answer is less government. Why aren’t these goons marching on Barney Frank’s house, or Dodd’s, or any of the other giant inept pilfering thieves? How amusing to watch President O excoriate Wall Street for salary excesses while he demands we fund a trillion in pork. Vile, all of it.Here’s the Cloward/Piven Strategy in action. (hat tip Cathy)
The organization NACA (Neighborhood Assistance Corp of America) who instigated this riot against CEO’s (I don’t give a rat’s ass about them, but they are not entirely to blame here) is the facilitator of the damned subprime mortgages. I bet they are connected to ACORN. This organization is of the same cloth.
This is what their Google search blurb states: Providing loans to low and moderate income people and those who are considered to be subprime borrowers. Information on mortgage services and national …
Check out the video. I have italicized the leftist commie speak in the article.
Grab Your Torch ‘n Pitchforks! NBC NewsHundreds of people trying to save their homes from foreclosure flocked to Connecticut’s wealthy Gold Coast this weekend to give financial kingpins a piece of their mind.
At-risk homeowners and volunteers rally outside the homes of CEOs in the mortgage industry to protest predatory lending.
Why aren’t they storming the Capitol?
“We Are Victims”
NACA’s Most Wanted
Here are some of the financial CEOs who NACA says prey on homeowners. Victims who want their voices heard can find their contact info on the organization’s… Stamford sits in the midst of one of the nation’s wealthiest areas, and among the regions particularly hard-hit by the housing market collapse. Nearby Greenwich and other suburbs are home to many of Wall Street’s wealthiest executives and financial managers.
Homeowners are fed up – and many are frustrated that those who lead the companies that gave them their subprime mortgages live in luxury while they struggle so hard to meet their loan payments and not fall behind.
On Sunday, hundreds of angry homeowners and volunteers traveled in vans and minibuses and protested outside Morgan Stanley CEO John Mack’s multi-million-dollar mansion to tell the wealthy finance czar how they really feel.
The group, led by Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA), also went to Greenwich Finance CEO William Frey, among others, as part of what NACA calls the “Predator’s Tour.”
Who is the predator?
Sporting bright yellow shirts that read, “Stop Loan Sharks,” protestors demanded more accountability from the CEOs of the financial institutions responsible for the millions of unaffordable mortgages in the state and across America.
“We can’t let them live quietly in a lap of luxury while they throw hard working Americans out on the street,” NACA explains on its Web site. “This action is within our legal rights as Americans to peacefully protest and meet with those who control our family’s livelihood.”
Spoken like a true Alinskyite.

some interesting comments here regarding the “authored by the president” WaPo article “The Action
Emmanuel made me writeAmericans Need”I esp like this one written by dac7002:
I will take a few seconds of the advisor’s time. There is alot of investment in Physical structures and banking structures, health care system…., But, where is the Human Capital Investment from this stimulus plan? Where is the investment in Americans that their skills and their abilities could meet the ever changing US job market? Where are the investments in the community that anyone with a high school diploma from US Suburbia can walk to the near by community college and able to get needed training and work at Google/Microsoft/CSC/Accenture/IBM and replace the H1 holders waiting in line at US embassies in Asia. I wait here on the unemployment line while US employers wait for the Indian students to graduate from engineering colleges to take up jobs at the Redmond Microsoft campus at Seattle Washington? How could I get that job….What kind of training opportunities will this stimulus plan offer me? How could an individual fool proof his/her ability to weather the bad economy or bad mortgage plan? Will I have an opportunity to get the job created in USA which goes to Asia? Thank you Punitha

Happy Birthday!
At Monday’s press conference BO couldn’t answer specific questions about the stimulus bill because of Geithner’s conference. Other Pumas can attest to this but Obama was only calling on certain reporters to ask questions. We had the Obama cultists in Todd, Tapper, Garrett, and the Huffington Post. It looks the WH press room is loaded with Obama hacks.
The bottom line is the Obama and the Democrats want cover for this bill because they know it’s unpopular with the nation. This is why they are trying to get Republican support. They could easily pass it without the Republicans.
Obama always talks out of two sides of his mouth. When asked the question about the GOP’s opposition, BO reverts back to his campaign mode and dudn’t answer the question.
Keep up the good work Pumas, American Thinker, and Republican pundits.

So let’s break down government spending for stimulating the economy into 3 categories:
Very Efficient– $2.00 spent returns more than $1.50 in growth
Somewhat Efficient — $2.00 spent returns more than $1.00 in growth
Not Efficient At All — $2.00 spent returns LESS THAN 50 cents in growth
So far I calculate that the current spending plan devotes about 23% to efficient stimulus (food stamps, unemployment, and infrastructure)

There is a royal Con going on with our government!
Lying about the economy to get this stimulus package… things that we cannot live with… You must understand that while there are people losing their jobs… we must ask WHY?
The companies that employ people are afraid of this government and it all started when Obambie looked like he was going to win the election… then the downturn!!! People started getting laid off because companies foresaw what was coming down the pike… SOCIALISM!!!!

This bill is payback to all the groups that helped select BO. He is attempting to position himself for the 2012 election.
Attaching a paragraph from Randall Hoven of the “American Thinker” that summarizes BO’s first 20 days…
“I probably missed a few things, but I think you get the drift. Undo whatever Bush did. Expect appointees to obey the law, with a mulligan given for first-time offenses less than $128,000. Pay back Democratic special interests like unions, trial lawyers and Planned Parenthood. Define “bipartisanship” as inviting Republicans to lunch and telling them, “I won.” Spend really, really huge amounts of other people’s money. Make terrorism a law enforcement issue instead of a national defense issue. And watch terrorists and nuclear proliferators be released, from Pakistan to Yemen to Gitmo.”

I wonder what new plan President Periphrasis will come up with today. The Stimuloss plan, right now, will onlt stimulate the greed and continue the bad banking that has caused this downturn. That people are losing jobs every day is because of these things, not supply and demand issues. Seems like it would be next to impossible to run a successful business as long as the banks are actually dictating how they shall operate.

HEALTHCARE HIDDEN IN STIMULUS BILL
Ruin Your Health With the Obama Stimulus Plan: Betsy McCaughey
Email | Print | A A A
Commentary by Betsy McCaughey
Feb. 9 (Bloomberg) — Republican Senators are questioning whether President Barack Obama’s stimulus bill contains the right mix of tax breaks and cash infusions to jump-start the economy.Tragically, no one from either party is objecting to the health provisions slipped in without discussion. These provisions reflect the handiwork of Tom Daschle, until recently the nominee to head the Health and Human Services Department.Senators should read these provisions and vote against them because they are dangerous to your health. (Page numbers refer to H.R. 1 EH, pdf version). The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors. But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners.”Keeping doctors informed of the newest medical findings is important, but enforcing uniformity goes too far.New PenaltiesHospitals and doctors that are not “meaningful users” of the new system will face penalties. “Meaningful user” isn’t defined in the bill. That will be left to the HHS secretary, who will be empowered to impose “more stringent measures of meaningful use over time” (511, 518, 540-541)What penalties will deter your doctor from going beyond the electronically delivered protocols when your condition is atypical or you need an experimental treatment? The vagueness is intentional. In his book, Daschle proposed an appointed body with vast powers to make the “tough” decisions elected politicians won’t make. The stimulus bill does that, and calls it the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (190-192). The goal, Daschle’s book explained, is to slow the development and use of new medications and technologies because they are driving up costs. He praises Europeans for being more willing to accept “hopeless diagnoses” and “forgo experimental treatments,” and he chastises Americans for expecting too much from the health-care system.Elderly Hardest HitDaschle says health-care reform “will not be pain free.” Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt.Medicare now pays for treatments deemed safe and effective. The stimulus bill would change that and apply a cost- effectiveness standard set by the Federal Council (464).The Federal Council is modeled after a U.K. board discussed in Daschle’s book. This board approves or rejects treatments using a formula that divides the cost of the treatment by the number of years the patient is likely to benefit. Treatments for younger patients are more often approved than treatments for diseases that affect the elderly, such as osteoporosis. In 2006, a U.K. health board decreed that elderly patients with macular degeneration had to wait until they went blind in one eye before they could get a costly new drug to save the other eye. It took almost three years of public protests before the board reversed its decision.Hidden ProvisionsIf the Obama administration’s economic stimulus bill passes the Senate in its current form, seniors in the U.S. will face similar rationing. Defenders of the system say that individuals benefit in younger years and sacrifice later. The stimulus bill will affect every part of health care, from medical and nursing education, to how patients are treated and how much hospitals get paid. The bill allocates more funding for this bureaucracy than for the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force combined (90-92, 174-177, 181).Hiding health legislation in a stimulus bill is intentional. Daschle supported the Clinton administration’s health-care overhaul in 1994, and attributed its failure to debate and delay. A year ago, Daschle wrote that the next president should act quickly before critics mount an opposition. “If that means attaching a health-care plan to the federal budget, so be it,” he said. “The issue is too important to be stalled by Senate protocol.”More Scrutiny NeededOn Friday, President Obama called it “inexcusable and irresponsible” for senators to delay passing the stimulus bill. In truth, this bill needs more scrutiny. The health-care industry is the largest employer in the U.S. It produces almost 17 percent of the nation’s gross domestic product. Yet the bill treats health care the way European governments do: as a cost problem instead of a growth industry. Imagine limiting growth and innovation in the electronics or auto industry during this downturn. This stimulus is dangerous to your health and the economy.(Betsy McCaughey is former lieutenant governor of New York and is an adjunct senior fellow at the Hudson Institute. The opinions expressed are her own.)To contact the writer of this column: Betsy McCaughey at Betsymross@aol.comLast Updated: February 9, 2009 00:01 EST

TAX HIKE ‘THREAT TO STATE’S RECOVERY’
ALBANY – Efforts to raise income taxes risk prolonging the state’s economic slump by permanently driving a generation of laid-off bankers, traders and other top earners out of the state, say some economists and tax experts.
The concern, voiced by Gov. Paterson, Mayor Bloomberg and business leaders, took on new urgency last week when Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver (D-Manhattan) endorsed a “millionaire’s tax” to close the state’s $13 billion budget gap.
“There’s a point when tax rates get too high and you see people moving out.”
New York City millionaires already pay the highest income taxes in the nation.
The most ambitious tax-hike plan in Albany – a $6 billion proposal – would raise the city’s top rate to 13.95 percent, or 35 percent higher than California’s 10.30 percent.
Tax hawks say the well-documented flight of Californians to Nevada, which has no state income tax, or the migration of hedge fund managers to Connecticut, which has a top rate of 5 percent, proves people will seek out lower taxes.

“Ruin your health with the Obama stimulus plan. Better yet, just die.”
:::snippet:::
Elderly Hardest Hit
“Daschle says health-care reform “will not be pain free.” Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt.
Medicare now pays for treatments deemed safe and effective. The stimulus bill would change that and apply a cost- effectiveness standard set by the Federal Council (464).”

My poor uncle, approaching age 90, sent me an e-mail last night, all uset about the medical portion of the so called Stimulus Bill. He said they mentioned me and they said that those who are old should not expect medical coverage, just suck it in.
This is unconscionable to try to save Medicare money on the backs of those who depend upon it to live out their lives. My uncle and his wife(nearly his age) apparently have been in good health and have survived this long due to decent living and good genes. During WWII he served as a naval fighter pilot and afterward served in the CA Air Guard for a long time. He and everyone else in the older category deserve to be treated like a human being by our government.
Yesterday I had my 78th birthday and I’m healthy at this time, but I shouldn’t have to be worried that I’ll be put out with the trash if I need a doctor in the future.

Daschle obviously another looney. My mother was only 67 when she passed away of a brain tumor after dealing with being a diabetic for years. When she told her doctor in the early stages and didnt know yet what was wrong, that she was having trouble remembering things, he said well, evelyn, when we get a certain age we all start forgetting things. later, when she was finding it hard to swallow a month or two later, the same doctor sent her directly to the hospital after looking into her eyes and seeing an obvious growth. Perhaps had he looked into her eyes when she told him that, she would have maybe, im just saying maybe, been able to have the tumor removed before it became so
horrific. Dont you find it easy for people making 250,000 a speech at medical companies to decide what is best for others.
Disgusting.

CURL: Obama snubs black press
Joseph Curl
After the first black president completed his first prime-time press conference, the black press was red hot.
“We were window dressing,” said Hazel Edney, a reporter with the National Newspaper Publishers Association, also known as the Black Press of America. “We were nothing more than window dressing.”
As the media filed into the stately White House East Room on Monday night, the reporter was shocked to find herself in the front row. Alongside her were the top news agencies, Associated Press, Reuters; also up front, 86-year-old Helen Thomas, who started covering presidents 50 years ago.
Alongside the most prominent journalists in America was Tiffany Cross from Black Entertainment Television. Like Miss Edney, she didn’t know why she was in first-class while all the television networks – every single one – was exiled to the steerage compartment.

“I really don’t know why I’m up here,” Miss Cross said with a shy smile.
While most on the front row got to pose a question to President Obama, the two reporters from the black press did not. Nor did any other black-press reporter, for that matter.
“This was like Reagan, when he’d put all the blacks up front,” said another prominent but visibly peeved black-press reporter who asked to remain anonymous. “He oughta’ be ashamed.”
The new seating arrangement miffed a lot of reporters. In years past, the front row, usually nine or 10 seats, was peopled with the three main wires, the five big networks, Miss Thomas and, sometimes, a big newspaper, like the New York Times or USA Today.
While the two wires were up front, Bloomberg News, which travels in every tight pool alongside AP and Reuters, was stationed in the second row. Of the networks, only CBS made that row. All but one of the others – ABC, CNN and NBC were in the third (while Fox News’ Major Garrett was dispatched to the fourth row, far to the right of the presidential podium).
bqueen 02.10.09 at 2:11 pm
Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) described the nightmare accurately when he took the floor:
“We have a 1.2 Trillion dollar deficit for this year. The National Debt is approaching 11 trillion dollars. Soon we’ll be voting on an ___ appropriations bill that will cost another 400 billion dollars. This week Sec. Geithner is expected to propose another round of bank bailouts that will cost up to 2 trillion dollars. Including interest the bill before us will cost 1.2 trillion dollars.
So Americans are asking themselves, where will all this end? They wanna know how we’re going to pay for all this. They’re worried. And they should be worried about a bill so big that it’s equivalent to spending 1 million dollars a day for 3,000 years. This is an enormous amount of money…
The only thing we know for sure is that it increases our debt and locks us into bigger and bigger interest payments every single year. In short we’re taking an enormous risk with other people’s money….
Last year the National Debt was abut 10 trillion dollars.
The interest payments on that debt totalled 450 billion dollars.
At the same rate the debt we are taking on from this stimulus, the bad bank legislation and the appropriations bill could cost us an additional 250 billion dollars/year in interest. That’s about 700 billion dollars next year in interest payments alone. More than we spent last year on defense, military construction, veterans hospitals and homeland security combined. 700 billion dollars with nothing to show for it. 700 billion dollars just to keep the creditors from knocking on our door.
The interest costs on the stimulus bill alone will cost us 85 million dollars/day, every day, every day, for the next 10 years…”

This is age discrimination is it not?

marie #88 excellent article! Here’s some more from p.2
None of it mattered, though, because Mr. Obama called reporters from a list on the podium, and reporters buzzed afterward about how he didn’t seem to know a single reporter he called on – at least in the front row.
“And let me go to Jennifer Loven at AP,” the president said, looking to his left, and then back a row or two before finding the AP reporter front and center, about eight feet from the podium. “Ah, there you are.”
“Caren Bohan of Reuters?” he said after finishing a long economics tutorial. He looked left and right before finding the red-headed reporter – right next to Miss Loven.
ASTRID RIECKEN/THE WASHINGTON TIMES President Obama holds his first presidential news conference in prime time Monday in the East Room of the White House. The seating arrangement and picks for questions miffed a lot of reporters.
“All right. Chuck Todd. Where’s Chuck?” Mr. Obama said before finding the goateed reporter in the third row. “Ed Henry. Where’s Ed? CNN. There he is,” he said shortly after Mr. Henry stood up. “Major Garrett. Where is Major?” he said before finding the reporter back in the cheap seats.
While Mr. Obama didn’t call on Mr. Schultz in the front row, he did skip giant national newspapers like USA Today and The Wall Street Journal in favor of the Huffington Post…

Cinie has another great post today:
After last night’s “rah-rah the country sucks” (sung to the tune of Obamaniac favorite, Ding, Dong the Witch is Dead) Cheerleader-In-Chief press conference, where we, as a nation, were told that “the economy stinks so bad we have to do something, so I’m telling you that Congress should hurry up and pass this bill we’re not sure is gonna work, but at least it’s something, just to piss you off, because, after all, you can’t vote on it,” a predictable pattern emerged, familiar to all those not hooked on hopium. The ‘Bots came out. At least, they tried to.
This always happens after the Crybaby Commander does something to piss off the part of the country that never gets polled. First, he whines about “distractions,” then his Astroturfing ground crew finds somebody else to blame in lieu of, or in addition to, a media and Big Boy Blogger Bullies fueled “distraction” of their own, then, the blogger ‘Bots stick their toes in the “see, it’s not his fault water” of NoBamaLand.
Next, the Perpetual Campaigner takes his act on the road for a tryout before opening on television to certain rave media and Blogger Bully reviews, regardless of actual performance quality, which is always less than advertised. Finally, the blogger ‘Bot bees are deployed to infest the domains of those critical, looking for fights by singing their Fearless Leader’s praises where they’re sure to be unappreciated. Those of us on both sides of the aisle, with the clear vision afforded anyone free of stars in their eyes, are used to the harassment you could set your watch by, and are sick of it.
Therefore, I’m making a request on behalf of all NoBamaLand, be it the PUMAsphere or the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy: knock it off, ‘Bots. Both of you. Nobody’s listening, there aren’t very many of you left…..
….. (snip)
Sorry to break it down even further to you like this, but, ain’t no sunshine, rainbows or ponies in our collective future. Things really are as bleak as they seem, and, as we’ve all told you a million times a day, every day for the last two years, your guy’s not going to be any more ready on Day 100, than he was on Day One. So, leave us alone, or we won’t share our popcorn with you when you finally fully wake up.

FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY
In Florida, an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter and Passover holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians, Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days. The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring, “Case dismissed!” The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, “Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays.” The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, “But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant.” The lawyer said, “Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists.” The judge said, “The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm
14:1 states, ‘The fool says in his heart, there is no God.’ Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned. This is too good not to forward.

At 3 p.m., the Dow Jones industrial average was down more than 355 points, or 4.3 percent, dropping below 8,000, and the broader Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index was down about 4.5 percent. It is shaping up to be the worst day for stocks since a broad sell-off on Inauguration Day.
Despite the size and scope of the Obama administration’s plans, investors said Mr. Geithner’s proposal raised more questions than it answered. The way out of the financial crisis, analysts said, looked as murky as ever.
“We’re not impressed, and I don’t think the market’s impressed either,” said Ryan Larson, head equity trader at Voyageur Asset Management. “It’s clear the administration is still trying to work on something concrete. I think the market sensed that, too.”
A key measure of market volatility rose, as did prices of safe-haven government debt. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note, which rose above 3 percent on Monday, fell back to 2.83 percent.

Your right….. not mandated.. sheesh when is the last time Obamie and his crowd recycled… heck they can’t even live without 100 dollar a pound steaks!!! and when did they last drive around in an electric car? I recyle, but I am tired of “my carbon footprint” which includes breathing getting trounced upon. I am tired indeed of people trying to make me feel guilty for even being alive!!!

bmw…129…I have been making changes. I wear sweaters now, keep my thermostat low. I changed all my lightbulbs, and keep most of my lights off. I used to be bad…keep the house warm enough to go barefoot in the winter, light the entire place up. I liked all the lights on!
I even gave up my bottled water and bought a filter for the tap instead. I walk more (that part is good…I used to *drive* to the store every day, and it’s only 3 blocks away!)…and I’m looking at buying a bicycle. I’m a little nervous about the bike…I’ve had friends hit by cars and they were experienced bike riders.
But the tone set by Obama is “you’re going to HAVE TO…” — and then he makes it sound as if we owed the rest of the world.
Um, why don’t our leaders try setting an example instead? And encourage us to set an example? That’s the better way for people to try out and make changes right for THEM.
Does anyone remember that politician who had some photo op of driving a fuel-efficient car to congress? Then, after the photo op, he got out and went in his usual limo!

The figure of 2 trillion dollars needed to bail out the banks is what I heard on KSFO Monday night after Cupcake’s conference. The reporter stated that the word in the financial markets is these institutions are hiding bigger losses. For some reason they are allowed to keep some of the losses off their books. I’m not an economist but Geithner’s comments coincide with the analysis from the financial reporters commenting on KSFO last night.

HERE YOU GO PUMA’s time to SIGN AGAIN.
I don’t know how much it will take, but here’s what I was sent.
———————————————————————–
Please act now to make your voice heard — and encourage your friends and family to do the same — by signing AFP’s petition at http://www.NoStimulus.com.
——————————————————————
Despite today’s passage in the Senate, this fight is far from over!
The bill will still have to go to conference to work out differences between the House and Senate versions, before coming back to both chambers for another vote. They will fight to add back as much pork as possible, including brand new pork not in either the House or Senate version.
You can fight back today by clicking here and joining the growing army of taxpayers saying NO by signing Americans for Prosperity’s petition to stop this disastrous trillion-dollar debt scheme.
We’ve got to keep raising awareness and increase the pressure against this spending and debt outrage. Thanks to the help of our signers forwarding this to their friends and family, calling talk radio, and promoting it on the internet, we’ve blown past 200,000 signed petitions!
Just what is wrong with this bill?
Under the auspices of a “Comparative Effectiveness Review” the package heavily funds the first steps towards the government-mandated rationing of health care and tramples your right to medical privacy.
The so-called “Stimulus Package” is being sold to taxpayers as an investment in useful infrastructure like roads and bridges. But the facts prove otherwise. Only 3.6% of the scheme’s $838 billion price tag would actually go to real, practical infrastructure projects–roads and bridges.
This trillion-dollar debt and spending scheme will provide little or no stimulus, but will put each and every American household in at least $6,700 of new debt, to be paid by our children and grandchildren.
It is critical that we send a loud and clear message to DC politicians that ordinary citizens simply cannot afford the crushing burden and devastating consequences of this initiative.
Please act now to make your voice heard — and encourage your friends and family to do the same — by signing AFP’s petition here.
Sincerely,
Tim Phillips

Darragh Murphy this year is an especially good year for your birthday; it is a special time to celebrate the gift of “you” in the Puma world.
Walk with great health and wealth into your next personal year!!!
February will be a month to savor like a piece of fine chocolate. The treats that will be given to you in 2009 won’t disappear, so there’s no need to worry, dear Aquarius. You can take your time, for you will be the celestial favorite in 2009. This trend started on January 5 and will last until January 17, 2010.
Having Jupiter in Aquarius alone is perhaps not quite enough to have you see massive lifestyle changes occur, as a planet needs others to interact with to make dramatic things happen. Indeed, think of planets like people. You will have the support of the Sun, Jupiter, Mars as of February 4, and by mid-month, Mercury, in Aquarius. You will also have a very friendly Venus in Aries, so while all the months of 2009 will be bright, February could be truly sensational for setting you off in an important new direction, on any level you choose.
From February 4 on, Mars, the energy planet will move into Aquarius, to stay until March 16. You may be stunned to see how easily your ideas are accepted this month, including those you feel are your biggest, best, and most risky. Certainly those are the ones you should be presenting now!
Mars will join Jupiter, the Sun, and Neptune, all in Aquarius, and Venus, soon to move into compatible Aries, will send kisses to all four. Mercury will join this gang of four later, from February 15 on. To say you’ve got massive control over the direction events take this month is an understatement! Life cannot always be this sweet, but now that it is, you need to take full advantage.
The first house of the horoscope, where the conglomeration of planets in Aquarius will take place, rules your personality, vitality, and even your appearance, and all will sparkle!
One outstanding day for you, when just about everything will go your way, will be when Jupiter aligns with Mars (just like in the song “Aquarius”) on February 17, a sensational day, especially for your career and for travel.
All three days – February 16, 17, and 18 – will have the moon in fire sign Sagittarius, a sign that supports your air sign element. You’ll love these dazzling days!
Travel could be on your agenda too in February, and if so, it appears you’ll go for relaxation, inspiration, and sentimental romance. Happily, your best time to go will be over the weekend of February 14, Valentine’s Day, or in the days that span February 16-18. Thanks to the loving connection of Jupiter, Mars, and Venus, you’d have an out of this world experience if you do hit the road. Consider doing so!

sandipuma 02.10.09 at 4:42 pm
Dear Fellow American:
I am really angry.
Congress is on the verge of voting to enact President Barack Obama’s nearly $1 trillion spending bill, a so-called “stimulus” plan.
We were close to defeating this outrageous plan.
But then three traitorous Republican senators broke ranks to back Obama, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Harry Reid, and the Democrats.
Who are they? Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine.
These three senators have betrayed not only their colleagues but also the basic principles of the Republican Party, including a fiscally sound government.
Collins claimed she voted for the bill after cutting out “fat” — a ridiculous statement, because the Senate proposal she backed will cost at least $8 billion more than the House’s pork-laden $819 billion plan.
And Specter said the country needs a stimulus, so he is throwing out all good sense to vote for Obama’s plan.
We agree that the economy needs stimulus — real stimulus such as tax cuts — not hundreds of billions in political payoffs to Democratic constituencies.
Consider that the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has stated the Obama plan will actually hurt the economy — and that less than 20 percent of the “stimulus” will even spent in the next year.
How is this an immediate stimulus, Sen. Specter?
Help us expose Sen. Specter
Defeat RINOs Like Specter
The truth is that these three liberal Republicans are RINOS — Republicans in Name Only who — are notorious for siding with the Democrats when important legislation comes up for a vote.
They rely on their belief that many constituents have short memories when it comes time to vote.
But we don’t have a short memory.
We at The National Republican Trust PAC will pledge maximum financial support to any Republican who challenges these three senators in a Republican primary.
Arlen Specter is particularly vulnerable.
He is up for election in 2010. He almost lost a close Republican primary in 2004.
He will go down to defeat in 2010 — if we have any say in the matter.
You can help us expose RINOs like Specter
Ad Campaign Will Shock Senators
We at The National Republican Trust believe it is time to hold Republicans accountable when they support Democratic policies that are bad for America.
For far too long we have allowed GOP politicians to run as Republicans and vote like Democrats.
We at The National Republican Trust say “no more.” No more to betrayal. No more to fifth columnists in the party.
We need to expose liberal Republicans like Specter, Snowe, and Collins.
In the coming days, The National Republican Trust PAC will roll out radio ads exposing Specter, Collins, and Snowe in their home states.
We will also be targeting conservative Democrats who voted for the Obama pork plan.
It is critically important that we do this, because Obama is planning to push through in the coming weeks for programs like socialized healthcare, reducing our military strength — even legalizing millions of illegal aliens.
Obama promised the most liberal administration in history. It is clear he wants to fulfill this promise.
We can stop him. But it will take real effort and hard work.
We at The National Republican Trust are willing to put in the sweat and tears.
Believe me, he and other liberals will get the message as we blanket their states with hard-hitting ads exposing their support for Obama’s radical agenda.
It is time to elect conservatives who will represent the interests of Americans.
Those of us who were forced to watch in pain as liberal Republicans defected to support Democrats now have an outlet for our frustrations.
By supporting The National Republican Trust, you know your donation will be used to punish those RINOs who have sold us out time and time again.
Thank you.
Yours for America,
Scott Wheeler
Executive Director
P.S. Please remember the stimulus bill is just the first skirmish in a long battle with the liberals in Congress and the Obama White House. They have already admitted planning the most liberal legislative agenda in history. We must stop them. We need to rebuild the GOP to do it. Help us today. Time is of the essence.
HP Boston 02.10.09 at 4:46 pm

NEW YORK – Investors are frustrated with the government’s latest bank bailout plan — and showing it by unloading stocks.
The major stock indexes fell more than 4 percent Tuesday, including the Dow Jones industrial average, which tumbled 382 points. Financial stocks led the market lower, a sign of how concerned Wall Street is about the government’s ability to restore the health of the banking industry.
Traders and investors said the lack of specifics from Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner on how the government will direct more than $1 trillion in public and private support was troubling.

Dayum. He speaks and the Dow drops 380 points? Maybe the economy would recover all by itself if he just kept his mouth shut!

Who tried to crash the economy to get Obama elected?
Remember Kanjorski, who admitted the democrats lied about Iraq in order to get elected, here in this video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc5lHXkrdQ8
Well, here he is talking about the electronic run on banks in an overlooked video regarding the ‘crisis’ that fell on Sept. 15ish. I broke the link so as not to fall into the filter, so mind the space.
http ://sweetness-light.com/archive/550b-lost-in-electronic-run-on-banks
From the comments, a poster has valid points which can be verified or have been discussed here.
———————————————————–
…”The clip above indicates that the run on MM accounts was 550 billion in less than 2 hours, and the fed estimated 5.5 TRILLION would have been withdrawn unless action was taken within minutes.
There were 6 overwhelming and unexplainable coincidences, and several other more minor occurences:
1. Biggest drop in the Stock Market prior to an election EVER
2. Increase in Stock Market volume beginning Sep 8, matched ONLY ONCE in the last 60 years.
3. Biggest drop in oil prices EVER
4. McCain took the lead in the polls immediately prior to items 1 to 3
5. Bernake and Paulsen declared the biggest emergency of all time 8 days after McCain took the poll lead (probably what Kanjosski is talking about), requiring immediately nationalization of the banks. (note: curiously, Bernake and Paulsen are both big-time democrats).
6. Obamy then immediately began surging in the polls, even though his and McCains positions had not changed an iota
7. and other less significant events
I stated on Nov 23 and continue to believe that these events were NOT RANDOM and were INSTIGATED by Obama supporters, including Soros, and probably, foreign powers, all of whom are benefitting greatly from his selection. The size of the MM run indicates that Soros certainly could not have done it alone, and either had to have had a consortium or the support of very rich foreign countries (i.e., Venezuala, Russia, China, and Saudi Arabis – all of which were heavily pro-Obama, for obvious reasons).
Yet, despite these events, WHICH HAVE NEVER BEEN DUPLICATED IN THE HISTORY OF THE PLANET. the msm has no curiosity whatsover about what actually happend.
Why is that?”…..
———————————————
Called ‘Black Wednesday’, Soros shorted the sterling and about collapsed the UK economy *google the event and notice the date*. He did the same thing in Indonesia which resulted in a warrant for his arrest still outstanding. He has said over and over that he wants the US to be relieved of it’s super power status and that the American people be subjected to the will and wants of all the world’s people. Open borders, open society. Moveon.org, a Soros backed group, stated that they bought the democrat party, they own them.
And remember Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who caused a run on the bank Indymac, in an unusual move of disclosing ‘insider’ info to the public? Look who is buying Indymac. Yes, Soros name comes up and an assortment of wallstreeters who give to Chuckie’s campaign.

Here is a pic during the primaries of a Soros funded campaign event for Obama. Soros is the one in the blue shirt, to the right. Huge supporter of Obama, with many of his 527s funneling money his way.

HILLARY’S INCREDIBLE, SHRINKING ROLE
By DICK MORRIS
Published on TheHill.com on February 9, 2009
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is finding that her job description is dissolving under her feet, leaving her with only a vestige of the power she must have thought she acquired when she signed on to be President Obama’s chief Cabinet officer.
Since her designation:
• Vice President Biden has moved vigorously to stake out foreign policy as his turf. His visit to Afghanistan, right before the Inauguration, could not but send a signal to Hillary that he would conduct foreign policy in the new administration, leaving Hillary in the role of backup.
• Richard Holbrooke, the former Balkan negotiator and U.N. ambassador, has been named special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan. He insisted on direct access to the president, a privilege he was denied during much of the Clinton years.
• Former Sen. George Mitchell (D-Maine), negotiator of the Irish Peace Accords, was appointed to be the administration’s point man on Arab-Israeli negotiations.
• Samantha Powers, Obama’s former campaign aide, who once called Hillary a “monster,” has been appointed to the National Security Council (NSC) as director of “multilateral affairs.”
• Gen. James L. Jones, Obama’s new national security adviser, has announced an expansion of the membership and role of the NSC. He pledges to eliminate “back channels” to the president and wants to grow the NSC’s role to accommodate the “dramatically different” challenges of the current world situation.
• Susan Rice, Obama’s new United Nations ambassador, insisted upon and got Cabinet rank for her portfolio, and she will presumably also have the same kind of access to Obama that she had as his chief foreign policy adviser during the campaign.
So where does all this leave Secretary of State Clinton?
While sympathy for Mrs. Clinton is outside the normal fare of these columns, one cannot help but feel that she is surrounded by people who are, at best, strangers and, at worst, enemies. The competition that has historically occupied secretaries of State and national security advisers seems poised to ratchet up to a new level in the current administration.
Hillary’s essential problem is that she is an outsider in the current mix. She was the adversary in the campaign, and Rice and Powers — at the very least — know it well, having helped to run the campaign that dethroned her. Can they — and she — be devoid of bitterness or at least of normal human trepidation? Not very likely.
The fact is that the power of the secretary of State is not statutory, nor does it flow from the prestige of the post’s occupant. Former Gen. Al Haig, once supreme commander of NATO and chief of staff to President Nixon, found that out when he was undercut as secretary by the White House troika of Mike Deaver, James Baker and Ed Meese. Bill Rogers, Eisenhower’s attorney general and Nixon’s California confidant, found himself on the outs from the moment he became secretary of State, with Henry Kissinger soaking up all the power through his direct access to Nixon as national security adviser.
The power of the secretary of State flows directly from the president. But Hillary does not have the inside track with Obama. Rice and Powers, close advisers in the campaign, and Gen. Jones — whose office is in the White House — all may have superior access. Holbrooke and Mitchell will have more immediate information about the world’s trouble spots.
So what is Hillary’s mandate? Of what is she secretary of State? If you take the Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan out of the equation, what is left? One would have to assume that the old North Korea hands in the government would monopolize that theater of action. What, precisely, is it that Hillary is to do? The question lingers.
And for this she gave up a Senate seat?

OOFFFFFFFFF TOPIC BUT HMMMMM SEEMED IMPORTANT!

Interesting article women in India protesting:
Pink Panty’ Women Target Extremist Right Wing Indian Leader
NEW YORK — Women throughout the world — 13,000 at latest count — will be sending Pramod Mutalik a pair of pink panties for Valentine’s Day. But these undies won’t make his heart go pitty-pat.
Mutalik is the leader of Sri Ram Sena (Lord Ram’s Army) — an extreme right-wing organization in India that purports to be the “custodians of Indian Culture.”
Members of Mutalik’s group are suspected of being behind a widely publicized incident last month in which a group of men brutally attacked women in a bar in the southern city of Mangalore — beating them, and kicking them when they fell to the ground. Mutalik was arrested in the attack, but he was released on bail.
Just last week he was quoted as saying, “Valentine’s Day is definitely not Indian Culture and we will not allow celebration of that day in any form.”
India’s Minister for Women, Renuka Chowdhury, has called the Mangalore attack and other actions by the Sri Ram Sena a symptom of the “Talibanization” of India. The Sri Ram Sena, like the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan, often takes justice into its own hands and prosecutes people according to its own cultural and religious beliefs.
“It is regressive and patriarchal like nothing else we’ve seen in a long time,” says Isha Manchanda, one of four young Indian women who have banded together to fight back — with pink panties.
They’ve founded a Facebook group called the ‘Consortium of Pub-going, Loose and Forward Women,’ and a blog called The Pink Chaddi Campaign, and they are asking women all over the world to send pink chaddi’s — panties — to Mutalik. The group has over 13,000 supporters so far.
The Consortium sarcastically says it wants Saturday — Valentine’s Day — to be “the day in which Indian women’s virginity and honour will self-destruct unless they marry or tie on a rakhi, a bracelet that signifies two people of the opposite gender are brother and sister. Walk to the nearest pub and buy a drink. Raise a toast to the Sri Ram Sena.”
“The response has been amazing,” Karishma Upadhyay, another founding member, said in an e-mail to FOXNews.com. “The media has been very supportive and people from across the world have joined the group. There are collection points in three or four cities across India.”
Manchanda echoed Upadhyay’s sentiments. “The response to the Pink Chaddi Campaign has been phenomenal! We’re constantly getting calls from all around the country from people who want to help collect the underwear.”
Upadhyay said she feels secure when she goes out because “It is very safe for women to go to pubs in the larger cities. It is not uncommon to see groups of women in pubs in Mumbai or Delhi.
“But in smaller towns and cities, parties like the Sri Ram Sena, Shiv Sena, or Bajrang Dal clamp down on activities that they think are against the ‘Indian Culture.’ Which is pure B.S.”
The government has condemned the attacks that fueled the chaddi campaign, and has called the Sri Ram Sena a threat, but Upadhyay doesn’t feel that their efforts are enough.
“The government says that they are ‘investigating,’ but no action has been taken against the perpetrators,” she said. “It is important to nip such actions by political parties in the bud.”
A third founding member, Ratna Appnender, sees the Sri Ram Sena as only part of the problem. “I feel Mutalik’s group represents the growth of right-wing conservative politics and its impact on society,” she said.
“It is a minor aspect of the larger issue of growing religious and cultural fundamentalism in India and in the world.”

‘Bama Knows Best
Larry LaBorde
Feb 10, 2009
I find myself in the unusual position of agreeing with Vlad Putin and disagreeing with our current president. There is just something wrong when my economic views are aligned with a former communist and against the head of the free world.
This last week it was reported that Vlad Putin said he will not prop up failing institutions in Russia with bailout money. Furthermore he plans to slash government spending.
Over here in the free world ‘Bama (who knows best) is trying to bully his latest bailout package through congress with the threat of total meltdown if we do not dutifully fall into line behind his plan. No discussion is allowed (we don’t have time) we are supposed to just trust him and pass the largest spending bill in the history of the world. (Until the next one in 2010.) Why? Just because ‘Bama knows best.

HMMMM I see Mccain is going to run for President again !!!!
Being the Republican nominee for President was one of the great honors of my life and an experience I will never forget. Some have wondered, after my hard fought presidential campaign, if I plan to run for re-election to the United States Senate.
I want you to know that I do intend to seek re-election. The magnitude of the financial crisis that many American families are facing makes it clear to me that I want to continue to serve our country in the Senate.
The economic challenges currently confronting our nation are immense and unfortunately, the Democrats in Congress propose addressing these challenges through increased spending that wastes billions of taxpayers dollars and saddles our children and grandchildren with a staggering debt. Their proposals will not stimulate economic growth or create jobs. While the leader of the Democratic Party, President Obama, has pledged to change business as usual in Washington and spoken of bipartisanship, I have been saddened to watch as Congressional Democrats try to use their majority to advocate more of the same failed policies and wasteful spending of the past. With so much at stake, now is not the time to step away from my work in the Senate.
As always, I anticipate a tough re-election challenge. But with your help, we will counter those efforts and put forth an aggressive campaign by registering new voters, reaching out to Democrats, Independents and Republicans, and again earning the support of Hispanic and Native American voters in Arizona.
I am honored to serve the people of Arizona as their United States Senator. I would be most appreciative of your support of my re-election efforts and hope you will click here to join my re-election team. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
John McCain

Also interesting on the Michelle Malkin site:
You know you cannot just “enter” an Obama town hall meeting. They give out tickets in advance. Who gets the tickets? People who stand in line and wait. Who tells people when and where Obama will appear next? Certainly not the Secret Service who has to protect this man. Not the MSM, who are too busy telling us how great he is without asking any critical questions.
Sooooo… how does a 61 year-old homeless woman who’s living in a pickup truck with her son JUST HAPPEN to get a ticket so she can VERY PUBLICALLY ask Prez. Obama for a HOUSE? Anyone? Who pushes her up on stage? She’s right at the front of the crowd. Did she just happen to get a seat there?
Now, within moments of this happening, it’s trumpeted all over the news. AND, surprise, surprise, the wife of State Representative Nick Thompson, Chene Thompson JUST HAPPENS to have a spare house worth $150,000 lying around, so she GIVES it to this unemployed, homeless, living-in-a-truck woman. They’ve been homeless for “more than a year”, which coincidentally, predates the current housing and banking crisis by quite a while. How did they learn about the “Obama Town Hall and Tent Revival”? Were homeless people simply rounded up? Did someone pre-canvas the area in search of “great, tear-jerking stories”? Of all the people in the audience, SHE’S one of the ones Obama chooses to ask a question?
BTW-the taxes which will be charged on this “free house” will bankrupt the poor woman. Taxes are levied based on the home’s assessed value, not on the basis of it being a “free gift”.
On a second, double-snort, the last guy who gets to ask a question JUST HAPPENS to be a 19-year-old kid of Hispanic descent who’s going to Edison State College (free tuition perhaps for in-state students?) and has worked at McDonalds for FOUR AND A HALF YEARS. By my math, he started working there when he was 14! Florida child-labor law infraction, anyone? Now, having worked at McDs several times in my past I can say that they DO offer health care plans. You have to PAY for it, just like everyone else in the country does. It’s OPTIONAL. It’s not a God-given right.
…Do the Thompsons get to claim this as a charitable tax deduction against their (probably) considerable 2009 income? How many houses do they own?
Is there anyone left in the media who will ask these questions? Ever?
