DICK ARMEY!

Congratulations, you Handsome Devil, You!

armey-dwp09-pumapac

“Republican Texas Congressional Representative Dick Armey seems to think that debating a woman on a national news program is like a prattling wife. Last night’s MSNBC’s Hardball segment with Chris Matthews, Joan Walsh (editor-in-chief at Salon.com) and Dick Armey proved sexism in the media to a tee. The discussion started out about Rush Limbaugh, but quickly degraded into a cocky Armey dismissing every word of Walsh’s.”

Talking over Walsh, Armey dismissed her by saying, “I sure am glad you could never be my wife.” (h/t Denise Williams)

Contact Hardball and tell the producers not to invite another Republican spokesperson on their show until Dick Armey apologizes to Ms. Walsh as well as to Hardballs’ millions of viewers.

Subject: Dick Armey Must Apologize

Dear Chris Matthews,

Last night on your show, Rep. Dick Armey made an extremely offensive and sexist remark to Joan Walsh, editor in chief of Salon Magazine. As a member of Puma PAC (www.pumapac.org) I urge you to demand an on-air apology from Rep. Armey to Ms. Walsh, as well as to your millions of offended viewers. And to refuse any further interviews with Mr. Armey or members of his party until he apologizes.

Mr. Armey’ demeaning and sexist rhetoric is extremely damaging to the national political discourse and discouraging to every young woman and girl who plans to work in politics or the media.

Sincerely,

Your Name

Puma PAC Member (www.pumapac.org)

p.s. the wankits are PISSED that we havent been fainting with joy because obama signed the ledbetter act, which easily passed both houses of congess, is basically a no-brainer, and was sponsored, introduced, and championed by Sec. Clinton and Rep. Carolyn Maloney (among several other prominent women Dems in congress).

So, this is for you, Wankits:

Dear Mr. obama,

Congratulations on doing such an AWESOME job of signing your name! I know you got LOTS of practice at your many book-signings and other events with your adoring followers, but seriously, you have a smokin’ STYLE with the ball-point.

Sincerely,

This is a little bit off topic but it does involve a previous PIG Chris Mathews:

“A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (And Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media.” Bernard Goldberg

The second chapter in Bernard Goldberg’s new book A Slobbering Love Affair deals with Chris Matthews.
It’s titled “Pansy Ball.” He starts by mocking the leg-thrill remark, saying Matthews “might as well have been wearing a short skirt and pom-poms emblazoned with a big O, was madly in love with Obama and didn’t care if the whole world knew it.”

In a recent interview, Goldberg said the biggest loser of this affair was Hillary Clinton, who “would have been the nominee for president of the United States and probably elected president of the United States” if the media had done its job.

“…Even though he’s losing his job, today was not a terrible day for the Governor. He didn’t look or sound like a maniac. He got to try out some defenses. And no one interrupted him during his 48-minutes of fame on cable television.

On the flip side, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, the prosecutor against him, got a free preview of the defense as well as a good indication of how parts of those audiotapes “play” to a larger audience. Act II of this drama is about to end. Act III figures to be a whopper.”

Hey PUMA’s, when I read this today I thought “hmm, maybe that’s the problem, that trickster Obama at it again…”

Curtis recounted the legend of Tsagiglalal, the Rock Woman:

A woman had a house where the village of Nihhluidih [Nixluidix] was later built. She was chief of all who lived in this region. That was long ago, before Coyote came up the river and changed things, and people were not yet real people. After a time coyote in his travels came to this place and asked the inhabitants if they were living well or ill. They sent him to their chief, who lived up in the rocks, where she could look down on the village and know all that was going on. Coyote climbed up to her home and asked: “What kind of living do you give these people? Do you treat them well, or are you one of those evil women?” “I am teaching them how to live well and to build good houses,” she said. “Soon the world is going to change,” he told her, “and women will no longer be chiefs. You will be stopped from being a chief.” Then he changed her into a rock, with the command, “you shall stay here and watch over the people who will live at this place, which shall be called Nihhluidih.”2

wha! huh!? you mean he doesn’t WALK ON WATER?

Judge Refuses to Delay a Case at Guantánamo
By WILLIAM GLABERSON
Published: January 29, 2009
WASHINGTON — The Obama administration hit an unexpected rough patch on Thursday in its plan to give itself time to decide how to prosecute Guantánamo detainees.

A military judge in the case of one of the best-known terrorism suspects declined an administration request to delay an arraignment scheduled for Feb. 9. The decision differed from rulings by two other military judges in the war crimes system at the prison in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, who last week granted requests filed by military prosecutors for four-month delays so the new administration could study detainees’ files and its legal options.

The unexpected move brought confusion at the White House and the Pentagon, and added a new legal tangle to the already confounding challenges of the Obama administration’s effort to move in sharply new directions on detainee issues. The decision came in the death penalty case of Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, a Saudi charged as the chief planner of the attack on the Navy destroyer Cole in 2000, which killed 17 American sailors.”

“….Eventually Obama’s lifelong political strategy of trying to play both sides of the fence isn’t going to work and he is going to get himself in trouble. Usually when you try and please everyone for political reasons you end up pleasing no one and it may be that he will get himself in trouble with everyone. But for now, even the decision to poll a job approval rating with less than a week in office shows that so far, one thing that hasn’t changed in Wshington is the utter stupidity of the news media. “

I was thinking earlier about a comment someone made here, can’t remember who, that basically summarizing the stimulus plan was a wasted effort as the bill passed. That’s been on my mind all day. I think summarizing the plan was great, it gave us all an opportunity to get at the meat and potatoes of the plan, and to learn that unfortunately there were no meat and potatoes. But we learned it with certainty and now when we discuss the plan we will be far more educated on the details and lack of than most people.

I just came across a video of BO talking about those irresponsible Wall Street guys who gave themselves $20 Billion in bonuses. It made me so mad after seeing his Campaign Finances and the Pork Bill, that I cannot see straight. He was uah ahing, too. Goofball! He does sound like a jackass. Obama should be the poster boy for GROSS FINANCIAL IRRESPONSIBILITY!

40

clintondemocrat 01.29.09 at 11:17 pm

Okay, I honestly think it is time to stop using the word historic! ANY president is historic. We’ve only had 44 presidents. Please. Enough with the historic… See below

The stimulus plan is picking up criticism as it moves through Congress. Republicans complain that not all the money will create jobs immediately. Democrats admit it’s true, but they say the economy needs long-term help, too.

“It’s a historic chance to make things dramatically better,” said Duncan, who was CEO of Chicago public schools until Obama picked him to serve in the Cabinet.

op-ed on the stimulus electus

excerpt:
“Nearly 30 percent is devoted to unemployment benefits, food stamps and fiscal aid to states so that they don’t have to cut services, raise taxes and lay off employees and contractors. Evidence is overwhelming that such spending yields the biggest return for every dollar spent. The bill, however, takes into account that these areas cannot absorb unlimited money. In calculating the expanded food stamps, for instance, it provides a significant increase immediately that would otherwise have occurred over time in line with inflation. That way, ample funds are available when needed, but there is no sudden cut off down the road.”

Thanks for this post. Clearly Armey was trying to deny Ms Walsh her sexuality. This is ridiculous on a number of levels but one really big level is the idea he seemed to have that any woman would find an ugly old pig attractive enough to want to link herself to him. ICK!

I just want to say that one feminist issue that needs to be enforced in our culture is the idea that heterosexual female sexuality is something men grant us or something we need male approval for or somehow that female sexuality is derivative from male sexuality. It is not. Each woman has sexuality whether she has a husband or not, whether she is sexually active at the moment or not. Women have allowed men to define sex and they have come up with pornography. Men have defined female sex fantasies as consisting ONLY of how we can best fit into mens sexual fantasies. This has to stop. Heterosexual women need to reclaim the part of our sexuality that is taboo, the part where we happily sit on our average sweat panted bums and check out hot men who are showing off for OUR approval. We don’t need to buy product, we don’t need to worship fashion, we don’t need permission from men. I really think the ownership of our heterosexual sexuality is something we should be working to give to our daughters and the next generations of women. Lesbians have done far better at owning their sexuality however you can see that men have made attempts to impose their own needs on even lesbians.

57

KerryLINY 01.30.09 at 12:48 am

Joan’s email is jwalsh@salon.com (if readermail@salon doesnt work). She’s the editor after all. We should reruit her.

She had some outrage in one of the sessions around the time Clinton was being asked to drop out. Been pretty much BHO MSM since then but at least there is a spark of smarts in there to make her realize that as the editor-in-cheif of a magazine with readership like salon, it is bizzare (read very sexist) that such a thing could happen to her. I dont believe a man in the same situation would receive such shabby treatment on a MSM show.

(34) It’s a disgrae to this country that Ledbetter act just became law and that the Fair pay version is still hanging. BTW these bills have passed before with Bush vetoing it so BHO is only being a shapeshifter as usual.

Slowness!
Totally OT, but I’m jealous.

I’ve got as fast a connection, almost, as is available these days, about 3 Mbps.

But the Japanese, like the Koreans, are already at around 51 Mbps, and are about to go to 800 – 1,200 Mbps using a satellite relay.

That’s humiliating, no?

The jump you got going from dial-up to DSL or Cable was about 300X. This jump will be 300-800X our current DSL speeds (normally around 1.5 Mbps). So, the new Japanese system will make our DSL look like dial-up, old dialup (the 13 kpbs version). Think full-screen crystal clear HDTV instead of jerky, grainy YouTube.
Thanks for staying on top of things, Sprint et al.

now obie wants to appoint a repub Senator for Secretary of Commerce. Judd Gregg, anti gay, anti choice. Bipartisan move? Hillary’s SOS web page lets you look at her calendar of meetings for the day, looks like she was at the Ledbetter signing today:

http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/appt/2009appt/index.htm
********************************************
I watched the signing on C-Span and looked for her but did not see her. She must not have been in the group standing behind Obama, but in the seated group maybe?

If you want to take a brief “feel-good” break, read this transcript of a Hugh Hewitt interview of the author of a book about KIPP charter schools. Community activism and school reform done the RIGHT way.

OK, back from a dreary week long meeting that demanded my every waking moment of attention. I read that there was 647 pages. I’ll take those last seven if needed. Let me know!

Maybe when everything slows down, we can read War and Peace the same way! I never could get through reading it myself.

what is going on in DC is a conundrum, it is a madness, they are going to leave the nation in such a bad shape that in 10 yrs from now there would be no funds for retirements
oh by the way mountain… left the country?,
i read the blog everyday even though i do not post and i do not see her, lately i am so fustrated with the way things are unfolding that i feel no matter what i do or what we do, nothing is going to change because the upsurper has the virtue of getting away with hell, his CBR continue to be “armoured”¡¡¡¡
