Today’s Puma PAC Daily Pig Award goes to:
Ken Layne
owner of Wonkette Wankit. Congratulations! You HANDSOME Devil!
To find out just why Ken is SO supremely deserving of today’s award, please see THIS, THIS, and especially THIS.
I’m taking Uppity’s advice. Do NOT let these cheating pigs win by intimidation, dirty tricks, and sexist onlsaught (sound familiar?). I know this is just a silly blog award on one level, but on another level it’s MUCH more than that. The links above are examples of HOW they win; HOW they make us silent; HOW they run us out of town — whether it’s a silly Blog Award, a job, a voice in a classroom, or a pulpit in the mainstream media (why do you think A-List writers like Digby and Joan Walsh and Melissa McEwan mostly keep their mouths shut? Greta Van Sustern seems braver every day). It all starts with guys like Ken Layne and his minions.
And don’t believe miq2xu for a second. His links are good and his facts are straight-up, but his head is wrong. Don’t blame the women. Never blame the women who participate in sexism and misogyny. To find out WHY, spend a couple hours with this Texas Genius and then get back to me. We can acknowledge that some women sometimes participate in their own subjugation without blaming them. We really, really can.
But, we who are NOT participating in misogyny; we who have OPTED OUT of the Swamp Misogyny that engulfed nearly every last one of the so-called liberal blogs in the last year or so — We have to fight back — without cheating, and without cruelty.
We can do it.
TODAY’S PROWL
Go get five of your friends or family members to vote in the Weblog Awards. Ask them to do it as a favor to you. Tell them the blogs they are supporting are good, normal, non-hateful blogs. Ask them to help you stick up for the Under Dog.
Copy and paste this email and send it to at least five friends or family. Ask them to do it NOW.
Dear Friends,
I’m asking you to help me out today with something that won’t take more than five minutes of your time, is totally free, and is a way to stick up for the Under Dog. Yay! A couple of blogs that I support have been nominated for a prestigious blogging award and they deserve a fair chance to win. These are Democratic, liberal blogs that are really quite popular with their readers. The trouble is, nasty readers and bloggers from some of the biggest blogs on the internet have decided to sabotage the voting and crush my pals with tricks, cheating, and intimidation. It really stinks.
I would be SO grateful if you would just visit the Awards site and cast a vote for my friends at the smaller blogs. It would be so great to show these cheaters and nasty bloggers that, in the end, cheaters never win.
Thanks a lot!
Vote here for The Confluence: http://2008.weblogawards.org/polls/best-liberal-blog/
Vote here for Uppity Woman: http://2008.weblogawards.org/polls/best-new-blog/
Vote here for Nice Deb: http://2008.weblogawards.org/polls/best-small-blog/
p.s. All of these links are totally legit. This is a completely non-spammy award site. Promise.
In comments, let us know how many friends you asked to support us against today’s Daily Pig. Five is the starting challenge!
Get to work!

I have come out of lurk mode…It is good to see you also mountainsong!
I am still a staunch Obama NONFAN! My youngest daughter is a junior in high school and attends a private, catholic school that costs a whole lot of money. She informed me that on inauguration day all the girls ( strictly an all girls academy ) were asked to bring a bagged lunch so that they could have lunch with the new president, needless to say I am beyond pissed off! There was no offer of an alternative for those girls that may not be interested in the swearing in of the new messiah. I am not letting this slide, if an alternative is not offered, my daughter will be missing school on the 20th.

MY NEW SENATOR BURRIS WAS WILLING TO SEND TWO INNOCENT MEN TO DEATH
….But it was as attorney general that he also found himself the target of criticism in connection with the prosecution of Rolando Cruz in the 1983 murder of 10-year-old Jeanine Nicarico of Naperville
In 1992, as Burris sought the death penalty for Cruz — who had been convicted twice by juries — a Burris deputy resigned in protest. Deputy Attorney General Mary Brigid Kenney became convinced that Cruz was innocent, the victim of “many instances of prosecutorial misconduct.” She asked Burris to stop defending the case before the Supreme Court but Burris refused. In her letter of resignation, Kenney claimed her boss had “seen fit to ignore the evidence in this case.” Burris countered that “it is not for me to place my judgment over a jury, regardless of what I think.” The state Supreme Court eventually tossed out the conviction and a DNA test in 1995 matched a different man, Brian Dugan, to the crime.
http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/blagojevich/1355139,roland-burris-senate-seat-obama-blagojevich-123008.article
——
I was a member and activist in the Free Hernandez and Cruz group. Burris could not see that these two men were innocent of killing a 10-year-old girl in her home, but our group and many others could. Hernandez and Cruz were finally let go after DNA and the wonderful Innocence Project proved they were innocent.
I am happy to say that every prosecutor that was involved in this case and who wanted higher office was defeated. I hope I can activate some of the former members of this group to defeat Burris in the next election simply because he wanted to kill two innocent people.

The pig is much too nice looking to really represent Ken Layne. You need to find one sucking mud.

I really object to a “daily pig” award. Why continue to put pigs down? Most pigs that I have met have are better natured than many people and far more intelligent.

Isn’t it interesting that Reid is so concerned with the “Rules” for seating Burris. Where was his opinion on the RBC last May and currently on the “rules” covering eligibilty for POTUS? Perhaps I missed his comments.

As usual I am talking to myself (
) so I might as well agree with BillieJo’s earlier comment (below) and also thank mountainsong for her thoughtful reports of her visit with her Shaman in the wee small hours of this morning. Uh oh BJ – not so sure about sexist DOGS – same as pigs!
[I enjoyed reading about your conversation with your Shaman and I see why you respect him so much.
I too think that being respected does not come out of anger and expecting to be respected. I think our society often replaces respect with being PC and gets us further from the truth.
I have often been upset at many of the comments about men on this blog. Sexism has become such a big focus but seeing men in general as all sexist dogs isn’t being honest. I, as a single mom have worked very hard to educate my son to respect women and he is very sensitive to the hurt of women and there are many men out there that deserve respect because they are kind and genuine.
Just like we don’t like to be lumped into the category of ‘angry old women’, let us not make the same generalization about men.]

So we’ll carry on without their help.
objecting to misogyny is not the same as objecting to men. Heck, my husband is a man! My father too. and my nephews and cousins and uncles, and neighbors and friends. yup — I can name at least 10 men that I really, really like and admire.

Yes, I too am blessed with many men in my life whom I respect and like but we run the risk of alienating the good ones, as BillieJo said, by lumping them all into one category. Just saying – let’s be aware of that and give credit where it is due once in a while.
mountainsong 01.07.09 at 3:58 pm
I can almost see why my ‘elder’ chewed me out. Says I spend too much time on this site and my usual positive and excited about life attitudes have become like a Yo-Yo between pos and neg. LMAO I replied that there are some things in life I DON’T expect him to understand. lol
However….talking about pigs, dogs and pondscum isn’t exactly a conversation I would appreciate. Those people will always be with us. China just shoots them.
murphy 01.07.09 at 3:59 pm
HEY! I like macs!
but you’re right Nijma — teh BOIZ blogs really have become the equivalent of Shoppers Mags that you see everywhere. 300 pages of ads and around 10 pages of content.
The sad part is that the nitwits who blog at these places dont know that.
Pumas, go do a tour of the political blogs — the women-owned sites are FAR less likely to have any ads whatsoever — and the few that do only have a few, like Shakesville.
The BOIZ are a joke.

The pumas who are men, and they know who they are, are supremely appreciated by me and everyone else. The reason they know who they are and most no one else does is because of their sincerity. They NEVER make a fuss about their manly feelings, and they NEVER leave in a huff. they are actual supporters.

not to put too fine a point on it, but I believe that “bottom-feeding” and “pond scum” are mutually exclusive since pond scum is on the surface of a pond . . .

FYI—from Newsmax— regarding Obamanomics:
President Obama and the Coming Stock Market Crash
How destructive to the U.S. economy would a Barack Obama presidency be?
An exclusive Newsmax analysis warns: There could be a very rough time ahead.
Beneath Obama’s flowery rhetoric lies a dangerous economic plan that will wreak havoc on the American economy.
Obama plans to return to the failed policies of high taxation coupled with an expansion of government spending.
Worse, Obama says he is absolutely committed to almost doubling the capital gains rate — something he will easily accomplish with a Democrat Congress.
In the coming months — when investors realize that Obama will raise the cap gains rate — there could be a stampede of asset sales as investors rush to take their profits now to avoid Obama’s doubling of the tax rates next year.
All of these issues and more are explored in Newsmax magazine’s special report “Obamanomics — the Coming Tax-and-Spend Nightmare,” by Wall Street Journal columnist John Fund.
This Newsmax magazine special report gives Americans the first in-depth look at the Democratic president’s likely strategies — and how they will affect not just the larger economy, but your personal wealth as well.
Indeed, Obama makes no bones about his plans to go on a tax rampage. Not only would he increase the capital-gains tax rate from 15 percent to as much as 28 percent, he wants to allow the 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cuts to expire in 2010, which effectively raises taxes on Americans by tens of billions of dollars.
He also wants to do away with the $102,000 FICA payroll tax cap, which means anyone making over $102,000 would pay an additional 7 percent in taxes on earned income.
And the loan dividend tax rate George Bush implemented? Under President Obama it will be DOA!

mountainsong, yes, pumitizing is a yo-yo thing and it might not be that good for your karma–if all you are thinking about is yourself in this moment. But we are thinking about our futures and the futures of all American’s children. Sometimes the things that are worth doing are also hard. You are lucky you have such a wise person to help you ground yourself–we all need this kind of renewal, especially when we come into contact with this hate. And I think the Layne interview points this out very nicely–hate works, hate sells, hate is putting food on Ken Layne’s table. And he doesn’t care about the pain he is causing others–probably in his own family as well–as long as he gets something green to fold in his pocket. Everyone keeps speculating about the motivations of the Obots. Here we have it straight from the horse’s, er, pig’s mouth. It’s a business arrangement.

The media is bending over backwards to protect Bambi before the Big Day. Everything that has happened – Judas, Burris, Blago, etc. is an “unfortunate inconvenience” according to the media. However, Bambi is running into a rough patch with what is going on between Israel and Hamas because he is silent on the situation. I heard a clip of his response about it today, and he was stumbling all over himself. His excuse is that there can’t be two presidents running at the same time. I can’t wait to see what he is going to say or do when he cannot use this excuse anymore.

trish: you are an optimist. I’m from chicago (originally) and think what we saw this time was their brute way of kicking the door in. Now that they’re in, they won’t have to use much force to stay where they are. A-rod will streamline everything (inlcuding a steady stream of 4 years of astroturfing, propaganda, masking corruption) that they won’t need to be as visibly corrupt in the voting fraud arena. The public won’t know what’s going on or they’ll be powerless, just like in Illinois…

Barack Obama meets US presidents at White House lunch
Looks like another chance for a photo opp and small talk. Big Dawg comments on the rug and chat lasted an hour. Guess Obie didn’t have anything to talk about when it came to his ‘experience’ since he doesn’t have any.
Note that littl’ George is quite gray now and wonder how gray Obie will end up before we impeach him?

What a pig does because he is an animal is appropriate.
When a man conducts himself like a pig and wallows in his own darker side of slime he should be called a SWINE.
A swine is a man who lives and breaths in the pig sty of his mind. And a man swine spews from his mouth the foulness that he has regurgitating in his mind incessantly.
It takes a special behavior to become a man swine and the citizenry should call attention to him and he should be ostracized.

PORN INDUSTRY ASKING FOR BAILOUT
Joe Francis to Uncle Sam: We’re Comin’
Posted Jan 7th 2009 2:31PM by TMZ Staff
He’s used to saying “Show me your boobs” — but now Joe Francis is saying “Show me the money.”
We got Joe Francis today and asked about that $5 billion bailout he and Larry Flynt want for the porn industry from the Government — and the “Girls Gone Wild” founder says he’s personally driving his Prius to DC for the cold, hard cash.

I think you are correct, it has now come down to who is more clever at manipulating the computers, ipods, etc… In the end what does it all means, and so what I think the Wankettes are just a distraction. I will vote in an hour and a few, as usual.
Sent email to friends, but left the decision to vote for The Confluence open to the recipients. I did this because I myself struggled with my own decision to vote for The Confluence. I finally did vote for it in support of the the majority of regular bloggers (BostonBoomer, Madamab, shtuey, LadyBoomer, Riverdaughter, and a few others). I just take a deep breath and force myself to ignore the ipiq2xu posts.

—————-
Tonight I think I blew a few brain cells when I read the crawl across the news. Senator Feinstien has withdrawn her objection to Leon Panetta as head of CIA after speaking to him for a few hours, but the killer comment was that if he was good enough for Obama, he was good enough for her. What a kiss-a…! This woman has more years in the senate than Obama’s brief stint before he trampolined himself into the presidential race, (plus his glaring lack of knowledge about foreign affairs and warfare), and she thinks HIS opinion for the head of CIA is GOOD ENOUGH for her?
I just wanted to say that really tore me up.
I’m still so very, very pissed off at this debacle of an election.
And to the poster further up this thread who was angry that her daughter was going to brown bag it for the prez on his inauguration day….my school system is giving all of the children the day off! The teachers have to work though, but I’ll be damned if they force me to watch one minute of it.

Also, Obama is already pretty grey haired, although he has gone back to dyeing his hair black.

I noticed that, too, that he was letting his hair go gray before the election. I think it was on purpose to make him “appear” older and more experienced. Funny that he is back to dyeing it again – AFTER the election.

I concur about Feinstein. One thing, though, is that she got ‘em with her support for Burris. She said she would not object. I think that was her message that if you mess with me, I will retaliate, and she did. Now things are back to nicey nicey since she made her point, IMHO.

They are making all the students in my daughter’s school WATCH the inauguration instead of doing school work. We told her that she does not have to go to school that day since that is ALL they are doing!
Lin4Hill 01.07.09 at 7:32 pm
Ex-DemInVa – Re: Feinstien and Burris – Okay,I will give her points for supporting Burris. That did take some strength of character. I just want somebody to stand up (among the Dems) and not rubberstamp everything this guy does. He does not have the credibility they are giving him. He was just a glamourous poster. And I mean “poster,” not “poser,”–though that works too.

Lin4Hill 01.07.09 at 7:32 pm
I agree. I think in the beginning, it will be the honeymoon period, and all the Dems will be kissing his feet. Then, when it gets closer to re-election period, some of the Dems will start backing off somewhat, especially when Bambi starts losing public support, IMHO.
Lin4Hill 01.07.09 at 7:39 pm
ExDem – I couldn’t do it (watch it). I would be making retching sounds in the background. My entire city is celebrating. A huge auditorium downtown is being converted to an inauguration party site. Now 90% of the teachers in my school system are African American, and many are probably wanting to participate, but since the teachers have to work, without kids there that day–the predicament is that they have been told they have to put in for professional leave if they want off. However, my principal has said she will not honor any requests to be off unless you have a bona-fide ticket for the inauguration.
I think you did the right thing to give your daughter a day off. It is historic, I’ll give it that. But it doesn’t need to be shoved down everyone’s throat.
They wouldn’t have done this for McCain.

Ex-Dem – hope you are right, but I wonder how the media will tiptoe out of this honeymoon they have so heavily invested in? Will the fear of being called “racist” just because you disagree with a policy or an action continue to deride those who speak up? I never thought I’d say it, being an ex-Dem myself–now, but my state senator, Richard Shelby (R) speaks his mind without fear. What’s he got to prove? But the Dems all want a piece of the pie and a seat at Obama’s table. It’s going to take a strong Democrat to take him on.

BINGO HITTING THE JACKPOT TODAY.
Dr Orly Taitz is a GREAT WOMAN. We should talk more about her here.
THE SUPREME COURT wants to look into this. Today it decided. here it is from the lawyer Dr Orly Taitz
Obama will never be President
http://drorly.blogspot.com/
Wednesday, January 7, 2009
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts agreed to hear my case
Press Release from Dr. Orly Taitz, ESQ01.07.09.
Good news,
Chief Justice John Roberts agreed to hear my case Lightfoot v Bowen, challenging eligibility for presidency of Barack Hussein Obama. He distributed the case to the full conference of the Supreme Court. The timing of this decision by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John Roberts, is absolutely remarkable. On January 7, one day before the January 8 vote by Congress and Senate, whether to approve or object to the electoral vote of Barack Hussein Obama, aka Barry Soetoro, as president of the United States, Chief Justice Roberts is sending a message to them: “Hold on, not so fast, there is value in this case, read it. Hawaiian statue 338 allows Foreign Born children of Hawaiian Residents to obtain Hawaiian Birth Certificates, it allows one to get Hawaiian Certification of Life birth based on a statement of one relative only, without any corroborating evidence. You need to investigate, you need corroborating evidence. If only one Congressman or one Senator presents a written objection, then there has to be a formal investigation by the joint session of Congress and Senate. During this investigation original birth certificate from Hawaii will be subpoenaed. All other pertinent documents will be subpoenaed: Obama’s immigration records, any and all passports from Indonesia, Kenya and Great Britain; University enrollment records, showing if he was enrolled in US schools and universities and received financial aid as a foreign exchange student from Indonesia or Kenya. All of it can be subpoenaed and obtained within a day or two. Each and every member of US Congress and Senate owes it to 320 million American citizens to do his due diligence and demand all necessary records. When American servicemen are told to risk their lives defending Constitution of this country against all enemies, foreign and domestic, each and every Congressman and each and every Senator can spend a day or two of their time defending this Constitution, reviewing necessary documents, in order to see if Barack Hussein Obama is a Natural Born Citizen, if he is a citizen at all.” This is the message that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is sending to them, and if they are not listening, there has to be a massive petition drive to recall them. Truth will come out, no matter how many millions Obama is spending to hide it.

Obama is A Fraud
Kudos to Michelle! She must be a Puma. Michelle called in to Brian Sussman’s radio show on KSFO regarding Obama BC controversy. She talked about the certified letters to the Secretary of State and to the Electoral College. Great job!
Phillip Berg spoke also. He makes a very compelling case. Even if the Supreme Court does not hear it, the truth about BO’s birth certificate will surface eventually. If he becomes President and it’s discovered that he wasn’t born in the US, everything that he’s implemented is in jeopardy.
The Obama puzzle is starting to come together. Why else are his college records from Occidental, Columbia, and Harvard sealed?

There’s a post, “the misogynist feminist”, at the confluence. Don’t be fooled. The first paragraph quoted (in the yellow box) broadcasts all the ‘tells’ you need to know the author is not a feminist, you can read the entire thing and find more “tells”. I believe the author is yet another silly boy pretending to be a woman… sort of like the fool Philly Puma.

Would you write racist commentary for $5 million? How about anti-Jewish diatribes? How about anti-woman?–yeah, that’s the ticket, that’s completely different, five million, no problem for tweety…and who is willing to pay him for that…?
roofingbird 01.07.09 at 9:36 pm
Murphy you might be right about the ads on the websites, I would add my reason. I started on dial up at the beginning of the election race, and kept to it even though it drove me crazy. I wanted to see what the rest of the country sees. So I kept the blongers and blingers off because they take f**king forever to load. For example, it takes up to 15 minutes to load the blog talk now instead of the older 6-8 minutes. If you get a drop, this may be one reason why.
I also try never to load UTube or other videos. Dial up folk can’t really see it. A 2-3 minute clip buffers and checks for around 15 minutes.
I’ll have to get linked up soon, if I want to keep up, but I’m going to try to continue with the low tech info on my site.
Folks on dial up miss a lot. There are a bunch of us out here.

roofingbird, check your local services, I was on dialup forever, then one of my neighbors said they had a plan for the same as I was paying for my dialup. I had checked them a year earlier and they were too expensive. I also found a plan on their website that was not heavily advertised that suited my needs better. The nature of technology is that the price keeps going down. Keep checking.
It seems they have got some bugs out of the radio show. Before it kept kicking me off as soon as I wrote more than the space in the little dialog box.

Nijma Thanks, in my neighbor hood I’ve got DSL, Cable and Dish. However, I’ve also got close to a 10% foreclosure rate and people are struggling. There was a huge reported (70% ?) drop in nationwide cable subscription at the beginning of the year.I’m ok, but I thought some might feel like they were extras. In addition, if you aren’t in a metro area, and 20% of us aren’t, you may not have any choice. That’s why I liked Clinton’s rural plan so much. I’m watching to see if Obama can flesh his out.
Nijma 01.07.09 at 10:29 pm
roofingbird, Do you have ATT? I hear they have plans. Do check the regular carriers, although ours was negotiated with the help of local politicians, so maybe they can help if they know there’s enough interest. The rural areas always get service last, but they do get it. I remember the days of party lines when anyone could listen in on anyone’s phone conversations–and many did just that all day long. The phone would ring, say one long and two shorts, and you would know it was for you, and pick up, but ignore the other combinations. But you also knew the whole world was listening to your business.
There are also some cellphone type plans where you buy a USB port connector then pay a hefty monthly service fee.
I have already changed cellphone providers once because the coverage wasn’t what they said it would be, but I now have one where I can talk on the phone from my desk. When I see the neighbors outdoors fighting with their boyfriends and using the f-word in public because they can’t use their cellphones indoors, I just laugh.
roofingbird 01.07.09 at 10:36 pm
Nijma Yes, Att is offering here, and that is probably where I’ll wind up, but since I don’t have cable, either I haven’t decided which route to go. The choice is Sacramento channels in dish or San Francisco Channels in Cable. I always liked channel 26 – the international channel so, I’m leaning to SF. However,it’s been a good experience. Think of how many debates were on regular TV and that will give you a clue to what a large part of the population is missing.
roofingbird 01.07.09 at 10:38 pm
In case you didn’t know, I only saw one- ABC’s. Otherwise I scurried around for the transcripts.
Nijma 01.07.09 at 11:13 pm
I also saw the one in New Hampshire–we drove from near Boston and found a bar with three TVs playing I think hockey (?)and convinced the bartender to put one of them on the debates with no sound–and of course as soon as he was away the sound came up just enough. Yes I had to read the rest in transcripts, and you miss everything in the transcript.
Nijma 01.07.09 at 11:14 pm
That sucks that you have to have cable to participate in democracy in an informed way. Of course it will all change when the TV system changes. I never watch TV so I don’t have my box yet.
