* * * * * * Well, we just have to keep on keepin’ on. Get PROWLING! * * * * * *
The recent Presidential Election has brought to light the need to update and upgrade the regulatory capabilities of the FEC. Publicly funded candidates know they must be able to account for their finances. But what happens when there is no audit mandated?
President-elect Barack Obama spent a record $741 million on his campaign but has disclosed donors for only $485 million of his windfall. Many of those donors are subject to questions about exceeding campaign donation limits and being legitimate donors. His campaign spent $309 million on Broadcast Media while groups like ACORN received funding and abused voter registration processes. Obama further refuses to disclose information about his own citizenship, employment, health and education as the American Public tries to figure out, “What the heck is going on, here?”

RE: Comments on Compliance and EnforcementDear FEC,
I am writing to URGE you to open an audit “for cause” of the Obama for America Campaign (FEC Resgistration # C00431445) and the Obama Victory Fund (C00451393). I am a member of Puma PAC, People United Means Action, a democratic reform movement of grass-roots voters. http://pumapac.org

His campaign spent $309 million on Broadcast Media while groups like ACORN received funding and abused voter registration processes. Obama further refuses to disclose information about his own citizenship, employment, health and education as the American Public tries to figure out, “What the heck is going on, here?”
How did Barack Obama get away with filing expenses for $255 Million more than he showed donation receipts for?
The following are now necessary to protect the integrity of the process:
- The campaign finances of Barack Obama should be audited at the campaigns expense.
- The Commissions ability to review campaign finance reporting must be upgraded and updated for more thorough checks for compliance at the time of submission, with unacceptable reports rejected and late fees applied.
The Obama campaign produced over 2.5 million donor transactions. The submissions were riddled with errors on city, state and zip code information and a single donor could have several name variations. Some of the records were flagrant trash like Jfggjjfgj, Jgtj and Khv, Khv and Hkvkv, K Vkn K V and Hdusahfd, Dahsudhu. Numerous donors had a single letter given for their last name. Others were listed as
Anonymous. Most of these are errors that can be checked by a computer routine, up receipt. If the candidate is unwilling to proof their own submissions, then the FEC should have procedures for such checks upon submission and reject reporting with errors over specified tolerance levels. And late reporting penalties should be applied. And then there is the issue of “foreign donors”. There are over 4,000 donors listed in the Obama donor records that have foreign address information, totaling more than $6 MILLION DOLLARS. Most of these donations are not obviously with the military or government serviced there. The form apparently has no entry for foreign country specification. There are no notes about affirming the donor’s American Citizenship. These donors should have some additional reporting requirements.
The numerous campaign limit exceedances, large expense/receipt discrepancy and questionable donor record reporting warrant an audit of the Obama Campaign Finances.
The American People need an audit of the Obama for America (C00431445) and Obama Victory Fund (C00451393). We are depending on the FEC to assure compliance with fair practices. Please audit the Obama Presidential Campaign Funds.
Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

Just in (my spam folder from DSCC – Democrat Senatorial Campaign) ACORN won, I mean Franken won. Illegally that is.
“DSCC – Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
Dear xxxxx,
Good news from Minnesota: The recount is over, and it is now clear that Al Franken won the Senate election.
The state canvassing board has finished recounting all of the ballots and Franken now holds a lead of 225 votes. The canvassing board is scheduled to certify Franken as the winner today.
It took a little longer than any of us thought it would, but the only reason the DSCC is on the cusp of winning eight seats this cycle is because of all of your hard work and dedication. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for victory.
To be clear, it is still possible that various legal issues will delay our victory. But there is no longer any doubt as to the outcome. Even if all the ballots Republican Norm Coleman claims were double counted or erroneously added were resolved in his favor, he still wouldn’t have enough votes to win.
Al Franken will be the next senator from Minnesota.
Thank you again for all your amazing support to help us win eight new Senate seats this year. (My comment – I didn’t do anything to help you freakin jerks) Bringing change to this country will require every one of our 59 Democratic seats.
Sincerely,
J.B. Poersch
Executive Director”

PhillyPUMA 01.05.09 at 1:59 pm
cjv, jenni and I have been back and forth about this before on here, but we’ve agreed to disagree and still be PUMA buddies. At the risk of floggin that dead horse, I have to defend Franken from your unfair attack.
Franken didn’t win “illegally.” I’ve been following the recount closely, and it was totally above board, with a bipartisan canvassing board acting almost completely in agreement, and other decisions settled by the MN supreme court.
Franken won because more Minnasotans voted for him. Period. Notice that his margin was WAAAAAAYYYYYY smaller than Obama’s because Obama cheated and Franken didn’t! I know Al Franken has a penis (well, I don’t personally know it, but it’s widely assumed) but that doesn’t automatically make him the enemy! Coleman is a man (in a sense) also, and Coleman is a rightwing anti-choice misogynist also. As Harriet Christian says, I’m 1000% pro-choice also, and not seeing women as morally autonomous agents is the root of patriarchy and misogyny.
So good for Al Franken!
Cinie 01.05.09 at 2:01 pm

And, you go good with coffee.
cjv 01.05.09 at 2:01 pm
In the meantime WSJ has posted this story on Franken.
“Strange things keep happening in Minnesota, where the disputed recount in the Senate race between Norm Coleman and Al Franken may be nearing a dubious outcome. Two More Weeks of Senator Biden — But Why?

ABC News’ Rick Klein and Z. Byron Wolf Report: Among those who will take the oath of office Tuesday, when the 111th Congress convenes, is a man who has no intention of further service as a member of Congress: Sen. Joe Biden.
Biden, D-Del., was reelected to the Senate on the same day that he and Barack Obama won the presidential election. He plans to be sworn in Tuesday for the seventh time as a senator, even though he’ll resign his seat shortly before taking the oath of office as vice president Jan. 20.
We’ve asked Biden’s office why he thinks it’s appropriate to take an oath for a term he won’t come close to filling out. We will update this posting when we get a response.
Obama, by contrast, resigned his Senate seat shortly after Election Day — creating the vacancy that is has caused so much controversy in Illinois and beyond.
ABC’s George Stephanopoulos asked Biden last month on “This Week” why he hadn’t resigned from the Senate — and part of the answer Biden gave was, at best, misleading.
“Two reasons,” Biden said. “One is that, from my perspective, I shouldn’t acknowledge it, but being sworn in for the seventh time as a United States senator from Delaware, the greatest honor I’ve ever had is the people of Delaware electing me. And, and it will in no way effect the seniority of the person who will follow me, number one.
“Number two, there was a period there when it was thought that it may be useful for me to be in the Senate, in terms of some of the votes that were going to be cast in the Senate that may have been very close, that would have been consistent with our incoming administration’s position that I could have been voting on those. It turned out that did not occur.”
Biden’s swearing-in for the seventh time will extend a state record that may never be broken. And he could have voted — but didn’t — during this post-election period that he’s still been a senator.
But his claim about his decision not affecting seniority isn’t true. If Biden were to resign before Tuesday, his replacement could be sworn in before the other freshman senators. The new senator from Delaware would get seniority over all other newly elected senators — giving him a better shot at top committee assignments and choice office space.
As it is, Biden’s replacement will move to the back of the line — at best No. 98 in seniority when he finally gets the job Jan. 20, and lower still assuming the Minnesota recount and the Illinois debacle are still unresolved.
It probably won’t matter much in the long run: Delaware’s governor has said she will name former Biden aide Ted Kaufman to the job, and Kaufman has said he won’t seek a full Senate term on his own.
But in the meantime, keeping the job has allowed Biden — one of the Senate’s least-wealthy members — to continue to collect a salary during the transition period. At his annual Senate salary of $169,300, that’s meant another $28,000 so far.
Biden also remains chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. But he told Stephanopoulos that he would immediately yield committee leadership responsibilities to his successor in that post, Sen. John F. Kerry, D-Mass.

cj@63: That’s not a “story” (or article) on Franken. It’s an editorial. And it’s an editorial as every vit as fact-free and bone-headed as the rest of the shit that showed up in WSJ editorials these last eight years.
They were no more right when they were calling Hillary a socialist who doesn’t understand markets or praising Bush’s corporate tax cuts as a brilliant stroke then they are making up stuff about Al Franken.
The only thing more dishonest than a WSJ editorial is somebody with access to Google (and should thus know better) that would cite them.

cjv 01.05.09 at 2:08 pm
Yes PhillyPUMA, we must agree to disagree. I do see it in a way where his campaign looks a bit fishy. Another part of this same article I posted seems to confirm why I beleive the campaign is leaning towards the fraudulent side:
(from WSJ article)
” But it appears some officials may have failed to mark ballots as duplicates, which are now being counted in addition to the originals. This helps explain why more than 25 precincts now have more ballots than voters who signed in to vote. By some estimates this double counting has yielded Mr. Franken an additional 80 to 100 votes.”
If he does succeed in getting seated I can only hope that he ultimately turns into a good Dem. Only time will tell, I suppose.

cjv, like I said above, that’s not an article. “Some estimates” aside (whose estimates?), the double ballot issue was argued before the MN supreme court, who rejected Coleman’s suit because of the absolute lack of evidence. Nobody has found a single precinct in MN where more votes were counted than voters identified on election day.
It’s totally irresponsible to say something “looks fishy” without any shred of evidence. It only cheapens our work to expose actual fraud by Obama and ACORN if we jump on this Republican fantasy.
KarenWI 01.05.09 at 2:13 pm
From downstairs:
Does any of this sound familiar? Bring back memories of the primaries? What about FL2000 recount? Same ol’ same ol’
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123111967642552909.html
Funny Business in Minnesota
In which every dubious ruling seems to help Al Franken.
Strange things keep happening in Minnesota, where the disputed recount in the Senate race between Norm Coleman and Al Franken may be nearing a dubious outcome. Thanks to the machinations of Democratic Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and a meek state Canvassing Board, Mr. Franken may emerge as an illegitimate victor.
Mr. Franken started the recount 215 votes behind Senator Coleman, but he now claims a 225-vote lead and suddenly the man who was insisting on “counting every vote” wants to shut the process down. He’s getting help from Mr. Ritchie and his four fellow Canvassing Board members, who have delivered inconsistent rulings and are ignoring glaring problems with the tallies.
Under Minnesota law, election officials are required to make a duplicate ballot if the original is damaged during Election Night counting. Officials are supposed to mark these as “duplicate” and segregate the original ballots. But it appears some officials may have failed to mark ballots as duplicates, which are now being counted in addition to the originals. This helps explain why more than 25 precincts now have more ballots than voters who signed in to vote. By some estimates this double counting has yielded Mr. Franken an additional 80 to 100 votes.
This disenfranchises Minnesotans whose vote counted only once. And one Canvassing Board member, State Supreme Court Justice G. Barry Anderson, has acknowledged that “very likely there was a double counting.” Yet the board insists that it lacks the authority to question local officials and it is merely adding the inflated numbers to the totals.
In other cases, the board has been flagrantly inconsistent. Last month, Mr. Franken’s campaign charged that one Hennepin County (Minneapolis) precinct had “lost” 133 votes, since the hand recount showed fewer ballots than machine votes recorded on Election Night. Though there is no proof to this missing vote charge — officials may have accidentally run the ballots through the machine twice on Election Night — the Canvassing Board chose to go with the Election Night total, rather than the actual number of ballots in the recount. That decision gave Mr. Franken a gain of 46 votes.
Meanwhile, a Ramsey County precinct ended up with 177 more ballots than there were recorded votes on Election Night. In that case, the board decided to go with the extra ballots, rather than the Election Night total, even though the county is now showing more ballots than voters in the precinct. This gave Mr. Franken a net gain of 37 votes, which means he’s benefited both ways from the board’s inconsistency.
And then there are the absentee ballots. The Franken campaign initially howled that some absentee votes had been erroneously rejected by local officials. Counties were supposed to review their absentees and create a list of those they believed were mistakenly rejected. Many Franken-leaning counties did so, submitting 1,350 ballots to include in the results. But many Coleman-leaning counties have yet to complete a re-examination. Despite this lack of uniformity, and though the state Supreme Court has yet to rule on a Coleman request to standardize this absentee review, Mr. Ritchie’s office nonetheless plowed through the incomplete pile of 1,350 absentees this weekend, padding Mr. Franken’s edge by a further 176 votes.
Both campaigns have also suggested that Mr. Ritchie’s office made mistakes in tabulating votes that had been challenged by either of the campaigns. And the Canvassing Board appears to have applied inconsistent standards in how it decided some of these challenged votes — in ways that, again on net, have favored Mr. Franken.
The question is how the board can certify a fair and accurate election result given these multiple recount problems. Yet that is precisely what the five members seem prepared to do when they meet today. Some members seem to have concluded that because one of the candidates will challenge the result in any event, why not get on with it and leave it to the courts? Mr. Coleman will certainly have grounds to contest the result in court, but he’ll be at a disadvantage given that courts are understandably reluctant to overrule a certified outcome.
Meanwhile, Minnesota’s other Senator, Amy Klobuchar, is already saying her fellow Democrats should seat Mr. Franken when the 111th Congress begins this week if the Canvassing Board certifies him as the winner. This contradicts Minnesota law, which says the state cannot award a certificate of election if one party contests the results. Ms. Klobuchar is trying to create the public perception of a fait accompli, all the better to make Mr. Coleman look like a sore loser and build pressure on him to drop his legal challenge despite the funny recount business.
Minnesotans like to think that their state isn’t like New Jersey or Louisiana, and typically it isn’t. But we can’t recall a similar recount involving optical scanning machines that has changed so many votes, and in which nearly every crucial decision worked to the advantage of the same candidate. The Coleman campaign clearly misjudged the politics here, and the apparent willingness of a partisan like Mr. Ritchie to help his preferred candidate, Mr. Franken. If the Canvassing Board certifies Mr. Franken as the winner based on the current count, it will be anointing a tainted and undeserving Senator.

PhillyPuma whether I am a republican or not has nothing to do with Franken. I am not a registered anything- and have voted both repub and dem, but lately have voted more repub than dem, but you’d need to have blinders on to not recognize the same things happening here as what happened in the primaries against Hillary!! To my recollection you are the only PUMA who has posted who thinks of Franken as any better than scum- and most think much worse of him than pond scum- … and that includes repub, dem and independent. If you read back on the downstairs threads for the past couple months you will see NUMEROUS posts from dems about Franken. In fact, before even the election, when Franken first threw his hat in the ring you should have read the posts about him from the dems in this group at that time! No… the way this man talks about women… the way he thumbs his nose at the law… this guy is a dirtball. It doesn’t matter if I am a repub, dem, libertarian, independent. or what.. it doesn’t matter if FRANEN is one or not- he is scum. And the dem party backing that he has going with him right now is the dirtball tactics that they used in the primaries. I am not against the dem party, as I said, I have voted dem. The current dem leadership, though, is NOT the dem party as people in here have said over and over- the current dem leadership (and Franken is one more example of this) is a “takeover” of the dem party and changing it over to lying and cheating. What I- and, what I hear from may in here who are, or were, registered dems- would like to see happen is to throw the bums out and get rid of Pelosi, Reid, Barney Frank, and the rest of the scum… oh, and that includes Obama…. who have “taken over” and changed the dem party.

I just ran across this–it’s the entry page for the dataset for domestic violence for the state of Rhode Island. I had no idea such a thing was available. They also mention the federal laws that control how these datasets are used, so there must be more info available for other states. Curious that it would be on a state by state basis. Wouldn’t it be easier to do research, see trends and so forth, if there was a federal portal? Or maybe there is and I’m just not aware of it. In particular, I would love to see a little graph with the numbers of attacks by month over the last 5 years or so.

The “more ballots than votes” is something we saw happen a lot in the dem primaries. Are you aware of that? To turn a blind eye and refuse to believe they aren’t doing the same thing in MN doesn’t make sense.
That’s just silly Karen. First, I haven’t seen a single instance of more votes than voters in MN, and you and the WSJ editorial page still haven’t shown me (or the MN supreme court)any. Second, there were many instances of fraud during the presidential primary, but Hillary gave up and didn’t fight it in court. Coleman has had his days in court, and he lost because he had no evidence. Hillary would have won in court.
Also, I’m a proud Democrat, even when I’m not proud of our party’s national leadership, just like I’m a proud American even when I’m not proud of the president. I’m proud of my principals, and my proncipals are shared by Clinton Democrats.
Al Franken is a Clinton Democrat. Universal healthcare, pro-choice, pro-good-wars/anti-dumb-wars, and pro-standing up to liars on the right (unlike Obambi). It’s why both Bill and Hillary went to campaign for Franken this year, and why Hillary said “Al Franken was taking on the vast right-wing conspiracy before other people even admitted it existed.”
You can take your rightwing fantasy-land talkig points and stuff them in a thimble, along with all the good things Bush and Obama have ever done (with plenty of room to spare!).

Not you too NOP! See my comments above! Hillary campaigned begrudgingly for Obama because she was forced to. She and Bill campaigned for Franken because he’s a Clinton Dem, and the difference between Frankens vote total and Obama’s in MN is evidence enough that Obama cheated and Franken didn’t.
Allegations of fraud are serious. Obama got elected and nominated by committing fraud, and accusing every politician you don’t like of it diminishes the impact of that astonishing truth.

At this point as far as I am concerned there is no meaning left to what a Clinton Democrat is..moreover, as has been on numerous occasions discussed here, no body forced Hillary Clinton to do anything. ..She chose to do what she did. To credit otherwise is to diminish her own mental and political capacity. In addition, votes that keep turning up is one of the oldest corruptions in the book…and given that the entire, the entire Democratic DNC structure at National and State Levels are under and have been the aegis of corrupt Obama and his corrupt minions, I do not accept your conclusion that my supposition is anyless true than yours. And, certainly, nothing said about anyone else in away could ever diminish the depth of corruption of FRAUD OBAMA.

Good morning PUMAs –
Did the prowl this am and realized that I forgot to post links the other day for the action teams (had to leave & step back for awhile) -
PHILLYPUMA – realize from your comments that you are a Franken fan (so sad) – I’m from MN and Franken’s a pig – Coleman is a traitor (former Dem turned Repub) – there are all kinds of little problems going on here with the recount – MN politics are not as dirty as Chicago but they are “no little rays of sunshine either”. ACORN has/had its dirty little fingers all over this campaign and the nuts think they’ve won – well, not so fast there – lawsuits will be/are being filed – ballots were counted twice (screw up with duplicate ballots – ya know the idiots who couldn’t read & didn’t know to fill in the little oval & had to try again (I had one person who tried 3 times & finally got it right on the 4th try (I was an election judge), inconsistencies in recounting (machine count accepted in some cases, hand count accepted in others – WTF), different counties did different things – more votes counted than voters registered – WTF – so, it’s not over – BTW I didn’t vote for either of them – voted for Dean Barkley who was the fillin appointed when Paul Wellstone was killed in plane crash – Barkley shoulda won but…….. so quit praising or pushing for the pig – he doesn’t like women or Hillary…….kick his ass to the curb too with his loathesome PEBO fraud
The Star Tribune (which is the Minneapolis paper – Pioneer Press is published in St. Paul) has a woman editor named Nancy Barnes – she’s a koolaid drinker like the rest but she wrote an opinion piece on Sunday that said:
“It is an understatement to say that the last two years have been tough on those who make their livelihood in what is considered traditional journalism (comment – clarify what it is).
……Across the country, thousands of journalists in print and TV have lost their jobs or have accepted buyouts, including some at this paper. In the midst of all this change, some are losing faith in journalism.
Yet it has never been more important to fight for the core values of this profession and this company. As we look around at the political and economic landscape at the start of 2009, it seems obvious that our communities and our readers need trained journalists (aided by the public) to stand guard as watchdogs over government and business in action, to report on the news, to inform and empower residents and citizens. I’ve been in journalism for more than 25 eyars and I have never witnessed so much outright fraud, from Tom Petters’ astonishing multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme (see, we got the crooks too) to the scores of straw buyers of house that now have no owners (ACORN anyone?)…..This paper already has a solid tradition of investigative reporting (but only if it’s not “The Messiah”)…..blah, blah – anyway, the Strib has not decided that they want to save/cover their asses and keep their jobs so…If you know of wrongdoing in the community,in business, or in local or state government, we invite you to call or phone in a tip to the whistleblowers. With your help, they’ll try to get to the truth, as old fashioned as that might sound…….ta dah – startribune.com/whistleblower.
Comments in () are mine – not sure how much this is going to help since I sent numerous letters to the editor since May regarding the fraud and other things and nothing was published. None of our prowls made the paper either and I got some insight on that too………..
In the Sunday variety section of the paper they publish a little “gay gossip” column by a couple of snarky gay guys – one of which is the food critic, etc. Most of the time their little column is kinda funny – others boring – who cares about the auction of Ives St Laurant’s art collection? – but, and this problably pertains to other liberal rags as well – the two boys were being snarky about articles appearing in the paper & the food critic stated that the paper installed a filter on their email server to block certain names etc from being received – well, I can only guess who is being blocks – big shout out now – PUMA………….
If I had lots of money (and I don’t & the market is still down 4,000 points since I retired) I would suggest buying billboards and spending advertising dollars in those mostly crappy magazines & remaining newspapers in order to get our PUMA message out to the masses…………I read the other blogs on the net but there are lots and lots and lots of people who don’t and won’t…………. They only believe what they read in the papers or mags, even if it is wrong……… Not sure how much money we can collect since we’re all hurting – but maybe I’ll go buy a lottery ticket – can’t hurt
Thanks Murphy for the blog – keeps me sane
BTW – today’s my birthday too – sorry for the long post but I haven’t posted for a long time…………..
Zee 01.05.09 at 4:00 pm
philly puma, #121
ditto. thanks.
There is a group of posters here dedicated to disseminating RW talking points, linking to “world net daily” and even worse sources. When I called Karen on her false smears of Al Gore during the 2000 election, which she again made oblique reference to today (oblique because if she repeats the same specific lies she’ll be called on them again), you never heard such howling, screeching and whining in your life from this group. Hands permanently imprinted on foreheads, threats to leave (the NEVERENDING faux hysterics on leaving, which never happens), shrieking posturing on “personal attacks” when one is talking about falsehoods about Al Gore during the 2000 election, not the poster herself.
There is a difference between Dems who are upset at the hijacking of our party and those with a long-time RW Dem-bashing agenda. I am super happy to hear PUMAs speak up for reclaiming our principles. The biggest difference between Republicans and Democrats is that when our party was hijacked we immediately mobilized and protested. It took losing the city of New Orleans to get most Bush supporters to acknowledge the consequences of installing an inexperienced puppet. And even now, they just blame Bush instead of the blind eye they turned from the beginning.

NOP@149: “In addition, votes that keep turning up is one of the oldest corruptions in the book”
I’ve worked in local and state politics, and believe me, it’s not that easy, even when there isn’t a big spotlight on a race. Most fraud is more insidious than stuffing a ballot box.
More importantly though, there weren’t just “new ballots” showing up. There are procedures and documentation for the handling of the ballots, and all of these stories going around about ballots in cars and missing ballots are just myths made up by liars like the RNC and he WSJ. They’re only believed the the gullible and the politcally naive.

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=30143#continueA
“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to re-write House rules today to ensure that the Republican minority is unable to have any influence on legislation. Pelosi’s proposals are so draconian, and will so polarize the Capitol, that any thought President-elect Obama has of bipartisan cooperation will be rendered impossible before he even takes office.”
But I didn’t ever believe that Obatic had bipartisan intentions to begin with. 59 Dem Senate seats (likely), rewriting these rules….. It gets scarier by the nano second.

Zee, re the 2000 FL recount. If you look back downstairs quite a ways (when this was last talked about) you would see there was more than one post from a FL, and past-FL resident who backed up what I was saying… both of whom were dems. What went on in the FL recount was a travesty of justice in how they handed the ballots down the table to be bent, and refolded over and over until new “hanging chads” were created. Also, in reference to comparing the MN recount to the FL recount there is one thing that anybody could see the same…. votes that were “showing up” in strange places. In FL 2000 recount a box of ballots mysteriously “showed up” in a closet, which mainly benefitted Gore. In MN a box “showed up” in the trunk of a car, most of which benifitted Franken. This is a situation that is so similiar that it’s M.O. (mode of operation) was like it had been taken out of a playbook and “reused” again.
murphy 01.05.09 at 4:30 pm
zee, #181 — yep. very true. I have bill nelson bookmarked for the Legislative Action team — thank you.
Seriously though, you and Philly PUMA are clearly long-term experienced Democratic party activists and know a LOT because you’ve been paying attention for a long time.
I tend to agree with you about Franken and the MN race (because I’m a democrat and i have an instinctive urge to trust Democratic talking points), but I dont KNOW the facts or really have a confidence in my own understanding of what’s been happening there.
Since you and Philly probably DO, I think a comment like Karen’s would be a GOLDEN opportunity to respond with educational FACTS, not emotions and anger. You’d enlighten us all, give us facts to use in our own arguments in the real world, and maybe win over a few converts to the side of fair and free elections.
I dont have the “no insults” rule because insults aren’t “nice.” I couldnt really care less about niceness. In fact I think women are entirely too worried about the “niceness” of everything.
As impossible as it is for the nitwits at rumproast and other hate sites to understand, the No Insults rule is in place in order to facilitate discussion, enlightenment, and community building.
The problem for creeps like them is that if insults are not allowed they have absolutely nothing to say.
Pumas are WAY more constructive than that.

190, murphy.
I remember well what happened when I addressed that issue. I tried to make the parallel that it was a MSM construct about Al Gore “picking and choosing” the recount counties. Same as the MSM narratives which helped install Obama. The hysterics that followed even when I wasn’t here included PUMAs who swore on their souls they would leave if I was allowed to stay. And, in true failed hissy fit fashion, are still here.
Karen is not only not interested in learning the facts, she persists in smearing Gore to this day. That is, at best, willful ignorance…which I don’t really rate any better than a deliberate agenda, but simply acknowledge it may be willful ignorance.

Found a little tidbit why women have so much trouble passing the ERA……
This is gonna piss you off……
Not everyone, however, favors this extension of basic democratic rights. And, although they receive most of the publicity, it’s not just a few religious fanatics and right-wing nuts who oppose the ERA.
As is clear from the many discriminatory practices the ERA would outlaw, sex discrimination is highly profitable for big business. Not only do the bosses benefit directly by keeping women’s wages and benefits down, but they also use sex discrimination to divide the working class along gender lines, thus facilitating their attempt to solve capitalism’s economic crises by driving down the living standard of all working people. As the chief political representatives of the nation’s ruling rich, the Democratic and Republican party politicians are keenly aware of the stakes involved in the fight for the ERA.

Zee, you said: “Karen is not only not interested in learning the facts, she persists in smearing Gore to this day.”
I’m not talking about Karen learning. She will or she wont. I’m talking about ALL of US learning.
whattya got? same with you Philly. Rather than picking a fight with ONE single commenter, why not educate us all? We dont know as much as you do. So bring on the schooling.
You disagree and insult, but where’s your links? where’s your facts? where’s your back-up?
If you choose to argue, use honorable weapons, like evidence, facts, links, and persuasive logic. Running to “principles” and Gore-worship (yeah, I like him too, but who died and made him god?)
Karen comes in with her references and links — arguable? ABSOLUTELY. But she doesnt insult.
If she wants to leave in a huff, let her. Why make a fuss out of it? It only prolongs the drama.
and “hissy fit” is a sexist phrase.

Oh…get thee to a nunnery! Fie upon it..Fie fie… After the usurpation, there are no longer any current Democratic talking points that must not be filtered through a vigorous review of why, what, who supports it for what reason and any number of other ratinal filters.
If I were not such a Jeffersonian Democrat and so in support of individual rights, I would immediately wisk you away to a reprogramming camp…actually…I think it would be a good idea…how about the camp we run here…beginning tomorrow Jan 6 and ending in a graduation into hilarity on Feb 20?

Bon Jovi to Hillary Clinton: I’ll Be There for You
http://music.yahoo.com/read/news/61941484
Forget government bailouts! Former first lady Hillary Clinton is hoping Jon Bon Jovi can help with her financial crisis.
The 46-year-old musician is performing at a fundraiser to pay down the remaining $6.3 million Clinton paid out-of-pocket to support her 2008 presidential bid. In all, the former New York senator coughed up $13.1 million in personal loans.
This isn’t the first time Bon Jovi, a democrat, has been involved with the 2008 campign Back in October, he held a fundraiser for Obama at his New Jersey home and he also lashed out at the Republican ticket for using a Bon Jovi song without authorization.
Tickets for the event on Jan. 15 at Manhattan’s Town Hall range from $75 to $1,000.
It’s being called “a final evening in support of Hillary Clinton for President Debt Relief.” If confirmed as President-elect Barack Obama’s secretary of state, she’s prohibited from seeking campaign contributions.

oh, for crying out loud, karen. not at all. it’s a parallel.
It’s supposed to make it simpler to understand, but I see most people are too literal and don’t get metaphors at all.
In other words, when you spoke of Gore the other time as “picking and choosing” the recounts as if he were doing something underhanded (as opposed to what he was constrained by law to do), I compared it to the MSM false narratives we witnessed this time around (such as the Clintons are “racist”).
It was NEVER meant as an insult, it was a way for you to realize how misinformed you were from media sources back then! It was laying the blame on the MSM and was supposed to be a way for you to “GET” that.
Same basic thing in my post to murphy, meant for murphy, not you in any way! It was an illustration, a parallel.
I was saying to her, look how hard a task it is to get an obot (not you, any run of the mill obot) up to speed simply because we were closely following stories the MSM did not, all the while the media were feeding people a false narrative. Meaning, if that task is incredibly hard, with only ONE year of links to how many stories of corruption, how the hell would I catch anyone up with SIX years of links of stories I closely followed while they bought the mainstream memes?
I have friends who are obots and I think about this all the time, how to catch them up…and it’s only one year of links! It’s not easy…and I decided I only respond specifically to one point at a time, and only if they bring it up.
How you got the wild leap of you, a PUMA, being an obot out of that is beyond me. I”m talking about catching people up on corruption they didn’t follow from the beginning. And if I had a time machine, or access to my old computers, maybe I could catch you up on everything you missed on the 2000 election. But I recently tried to find some specific info from 2004, and even that is gone now.
We should remember this…that a lot of the info we’ve discussed and uncovered in the past year might not be readily available four years from now.
You know….worry about the future! Especially since it seems only the mainstream memes and false narratives survive…!

I say “you guys” still sometimes…been saying it for soo many years. I try not to.
I am sure some of you have seen this recent youtube of Obama talking to the press?
Obama: Don’t Ask Me No Questions
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-DPJ063Iy8
Obama *only* calls the press guys: “Thanks, guys”…instead of “ladies and gentlemen” or even “you people.”
How do you think the women journalists feel?? You know that their profession is male dominated enough without the president (puke) calling them “guys”…a role model, uh huh.

go tell it to #201 karen, repeating the most absurd lies about people “bending” the 2000 ballots to make chads hang, and other rank bs, without any links.
Unless you want a blog dedicated to the 2000 election, people are going to have to do their own digging. chads were the least of the problems. But good riddance to them, on everyone’s account! One of the reasons there were dimpled and hanging chads is because the election workers were supposed to empty the catchbox. If it were stuffed with punched out chads it became impossible to punch out more. They actually did a test of that here in Boston and no matter how hard you tried to punch out the chad, if there was no room for it to go, you couldn’t punch it out.
Even without links you can see by logic which story is absurd. How would you get a concerted effort by operatives in a bipartisan setting to bend ballots and even if you did get them to try it, how could you bend a card and cause one specific little chad over another to come out?
Whereas, if more people are voting for one candidate, then it would make sense that the catchbox would get full.

How appropriately said. I thought I was the only one who noticed. As a matter of fact, when I was telling off the Obot who was complaining that PUMA would not “go down with dignity” I believe I described BO as an impotent, empty suit sock puppet. I think that characterizes him well.
Later today, I was looking for some BO contact info for Foreign Donors to request refunds. I went to his websites and they were more like grave sites. I called the 1-877 number, but it was to the DNC and nobody answered. Zero interaction, all one way communication. I finally had to get the address off the FEC website and reference also them for anyone having trouble getting their refund.

Secretary of Senate rejects Burris, aide says
Erickson rejected Burris’ appointment because his certificate of appointment was missing the signature of Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, the aide said Monday.
Rule 2 of the Standing Rules of the Senate states that the secretary of state must sign the certificate of election along with the governor.
White has declined to sign the certificate, siding with some Senate Democrats who say Burris should not be seated because of the cloud over Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who is accused of trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama’s Senate seat

Good Evening all, i see hell just froze over. Franken is now a Senator.
How anyone on this board can support that man is beyond me. What has he done, Had a failed radio program, and is the biggest sexist you can find around. He hides behind his make as a liberal and thinks he gets a pass just because he is liberal. I think this year all things good in our country has officially came to an end. I see they are now going to ordain kennedy to the senate with no experience when the majority of the news media was blasting Palin as a hack even though she has been running a state for years. I really gets old when the newsmedia promotes someone based on an idiology and not for what they can do to make our states or country a better place.
Sorry folks but i truely believe this year is the start of the end for all things good in our country. I maybe wrong but i doubt it.

That would be like a senator from california leaving and arnold saying he wants a reagan in the seats so we are going to have ron jr or michael reagan fill the seat. What are the qualifications?

Doggone it but I’m angry with how all this is being ignored and just passed over. 25 precincts in MN with more ballots than voters and the MN court just ignores it, and the MN S.o.s. ignores it- just because they are part of the dem. leadership takeover plan. airforcehusker 01.05.09 at 9:48 pm
It isnt a matter of taking of the corrupt it is the corrupt have taken over.
Look at Minnesota. I said this from the beggining. The outcome wasnt going to matter. The first election had coleman winning. the recount had coleman winning. Than they go to the disputed ballots and now Franken is the winner. Remember the count all ballots bullshit by franken. He is now in the lead so he is insisting the election is over and certify him the winner.
I said it from the beginning that the outcome wont matter becuase as soon as franken gets any type of lead the democrat ran state will stop everything and the election will be over. The whole thing is a sham and i dont care who wants to come on here and argue but this is truelly bad for america.

That’s like it was before we had the Revolutionary War! England with it’s King, Queen, Dukes, and royal family…. we fought a war to get AWAY from having “royal family” stuff – but we are going to hand this to her because she’s a “royal American family”?????? I have talked with alot of women and men who are totally clueless about the ERA. Seriously!! Alot of them just assume the constitution gives everyone equal rights.

Alot of people are so struggling with the economic survival they don’t even want to hear it.
To my mind, it all comes down to educating and convincing, which means ‘Communication SKILLS’! Finding the most effective means of communicating with select target audiences.

What I’d like to see happen is an overhaul of our voting system… all the recount stuff is ridiculous. If they find ballots they didn’t know about on election day, they CAN’T BE COUNTED IN. One recount only- all counties, precincts or whatever. If they have more ballots than voters, then announce a fraudulent election, and vote over. I just don’t understand how the more ballots than voters in the primaries went through without being questioned, or challenged, or stopped…. and now it’s being done in the General Election too without a whimper from anybody about “how can there be more votes the voters?” Well, maybe I’m speaking too soon here- maybe Coleman will bring that question all the way to the Supreme Court. I hope he does…. that sort of thing – well, it’s doggone obvious there is some horsesh*t going on there!

Someting about the way the ERA is written bothers me.
Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate
legislation, the provisions of this article.
Bt we’ve seen the ambiguity of that. We are still trying to convince our legislators, FEC, SCOTUS about caucus and registration, and votor fraud. And even if they DID pay attention, who is going to enforce the issues, and the CONSEQUENCES of violating these ‘equal rights’. It needs teeth….fangs!

The Washington Post:
Obama Team Seeks Changes in Primaries
By Dan Balz
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, August 21, 2008; A03
“Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign will call next week for the creation of a commission to revise the rules for selecting a presidential nominee in 2012, with a goal of reducing the power of superdelegates, whose role became a major point of contention during the long battle for the Democratic nomination between Obama and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.”

“Behind-the-scenes Democratic talks halt caucus reform
DENVER — Prameela Bartholomeusz is no fan of the Democratic Party’s caucus system, a method used in certain states to select the party’s presidential nominee.
A member of the Platform Committee, Bartholomeusz hoped to get strong language in the party’s new platform opposing caucuses. But at a private meeting the night before the committee met in Pittsburgh, she got word that her issue would be shot down.”

KarenW: Oh Karen I hate to tell you but in fact the voting system was overhauled in the 2007 Voting Act, every version of which I read in the Senate Committee Rules Committe site, and it is responsible and will be as it gets changed some more for less not more protection of the items you mention and oh so many more.
It is a terrible, terrible bill ..all versions…and is in every way supportive of what has occurred this election year.
Hillary Clinton introduced a version: terrible…every other one awful…one of the scariest set of things I have seen in a long time.
We are in for a long haul of corruption. We simply have to remember that and hang long enough to in fact when there is opportunity truly reform the system. As it stands now, it is no better than a number of countries where outside observers are sent.

NewOrleansPuma 01.05.09 at 10:22 pm
They will move to centralize more and more any version of a caucus, not get rid of them…Caucuses and central rule by the Democratic National Committe with the ignoring of the rights of states and their legislatures to determine primaries, etc are the reasons the FRAUD won..why would they not want to solidyfy that method. Moreover, they wish to lessen the effect of superdelegates because it is the and was the last area which had to be worked on the most in order to do what they die…too much work…too much time…make it a smooth seamless steal next time.
KarenWI 01.05.09 at 10:23 pm
Oh yeah, that’s another thing I want done… get rid of all of the stupid caucases. I mean, honestly! -it takes away the vote of our military away from home, those who are sick, the elderly, those who can’t get a ride there, those who are working then, those taking care of small children… it takes away from MOST of the people. I can’t understand how they ever got caucases started in the first place, when it excludes most of the voters!!!

KarenWI 01.05.09 at 10:25 pm
Oh yeah, NOP- and get rid of the super delegates! That’s ridiculous! Another thing… do it like the repub method of primary where “winner takes all” in the state instead of divying it up in little pieces to stretch the primaries out so long. Oh, and also… (I keep thinking of things)… make one vote equal to one vote EVERYWHERE and not give special weight to some A.A. districts in some states!
NewOrleansPuma 01.05.09 at 10:28 pm
437Dances: That is absolutely correct. I have said many times over the last few months that all these bills and now this commission will in fact be what rules our political lives for years, perhaps…and that is why this man and his whole set of minions, including the preponderance of the Democratic Congress has had me like a maniac for months.
He is preparing to transform permanently the entire system of the rules of governance under which this country has operated from its inception. I still assert as I have for months that a coup has taken place..and thats it…I know that sounds radical.
So be it. He is radical.
KarenWI 01.05.09 at 10:30 pm
Yeah, that’s me, NOP. To me the things that I value the most are truth and integrity. That’s my standard in living, and that’s what I value the most. I lose a lot of business that way, unfortunately… because I’m honest to a fault. I tell them (as Paul Harvey would say) the “rest of the story” and don’t have them buy an insurance policy that they don’t understand fully.
But to ME it seems so easy… just say each person gets one vote, make sure that you verify to make sure that person only votes once and that the person IS living and living in that city, count them CORRECTLY and may the best person win! That’s it. To me it doesn’t make any sense why it had to be so complicated with some districts getting more weight than others; caucuses; superdelegates; ballots that appear out of nowhere; WHATEVER… this is ridiculous and a farce. If we watched a movie with the script that we saw played out in this year’s election, and now in MN too, we’d say it was too crazy to be real. But it IS real… and it’s terrible…. and we’re the ones who will suffer for it… (sigh)

KarenWI 01.05.09 at 10:39 pm
Well the repubs have those stupid caucases too for some reason. Not the superdelegates though. …and isn’t it really unfair to give a heavier weight for one district in a state than another? I don’t know if the repubs do that or not, but it doesn’t seem fair no matter WHO is doing it. Everyone gets one vote, and every person counts as one vote? Or… does that upset people to say that? I hope not…. that’s the centrist in me again…..
