Well, they are married now (not exactly happily) and living in Staten Island where he works and she teaches Biology to 10th graders.
Just give yourself a break and be good to you. You sound like you feel tied down. If whoever you are with really cares about you, he will give you space and freedom to be you. Jenni, Nijma, I hope you will both re-think your views because the United States has one of the lowest rates of breastfeeding and it comes at the expense of healthy infants, even their teeth come in straighter and their little brains develop better and they get fewer colds and flu and earaches when breastfed.

Our culture is so suppressed about the stupidest things.

Even if you disagree w/everything I’ve just said, it’s very easy to breastfeed in public very discreetly. We need to be ENCOURAGING young women everywhere to do more breastfeeding, and it’s not fair to expect OR realistic to expect it to always be done “privately.”

Wow I could go on and on because this is a topic that’s been very HIGH on my list of “how I would improve American culture” for a long, long, time…

Yes I saw the movie “Holiday.” What I remember most about it. I was sitting in the theater, and when the scene where she opens the door & Jude Law is standing on her front porch happened, I let out this spontaneous half-laugh, half-gasp thing that was the only sound in the theater, lol..! Those things you cite (hospitals not giving out formula, having breastfeeding coaches, etc) are not new at all (not that you’re saying they are), but rather, are done because WHO (World Health Organization) comes out time & again in support of more breastfeeding.

Also, the original topic was not should you or shouldn’t you, it was “women should breastfeed in private,” and I couldn’t disagree more, in fact it’s discriminatory in my book. I do understand some women choose to, as long as they understand the consequences it’s their choice.

It was a beautiful day and thank you for remembering. My nephew took me and the family to a very fancy French restaurant in the OLD MARKET PLACE. It was really great. Plus, they had the best Cappuccino that I have ever had. Laura and I decided that in the spring we would walk around the OLD MARKET and drop into the French Restaurant for some Cappuccino.

I have some video from Denver–some speeches at the candlelight event in the park (RD and a couple others), some visibility stuff (the Bots were really in our faces there and I just kept the camera going as a defense), Murphy talking after Hillary’s speech, saying “if you hear the dogs…”, the farflung “free speech zone”, the march that started a half hour early and ended in the middle of nowhere, and the goofy Jesus freaks on bicycles with their flags. The camera was new and I was just playing with it.

Okay, dumb question… when you say Jesus isn’t a Christian… Is that because of the fact he was born into a Jewish family and he was the “Father” of the Christian religion… Also that he studied the other religious beliefs of his day or something else you have read??

That just sickens me. Stories like this seem to be getting more common, so where’s the outrage?? Even the article was written ho-hum. Maybe crimes against women need to be considered hate crimes. I don’t know if it would make others take notice though. I hope those sick bastards are caught, you just know they are going to be bragging all through the “hood”. I hope just one person is brave enough to come forward. Reward or no, they will have to be brave.

Interest and especially credit, got this country in the figgin mess it’s in now. Intil credit exploded in the 60′s people were forced to pay cash or go without. There wasn’t a problem and we were the richest nation on earth. Today we are the greatest Debtor Nation!!!!

I know this is a bit off topic, but I heard somewhere the other day that Opie sat in Her bubble bath each night and (all by her own li’l black self)no offense to African Americans….and wished Obama President. That being the case why can’t we PUMAS form a circle and “wish” him and his cronies right back out! We could set a time each night to light a candle and visualize them all meeting Karma…Prior to January 20. Of couse we can also continue our prowls, but I’m sure I’m not the only pagan on this list, let us join together brothers and sisters and form that circle. Anyone want to join me? and BTW to all of you no matter your tradition have a blessed holiday season, and my candle will remain lit for BJ and her daughters. The latest news from New York about the senate seat may please some of you, but anger others.

It is being reported that Gov. Patterson has been having meetings with the Long Island congressman, Steve Israel, concerning the seat.

Here in NY we’ve known for some time that Patterson is not at all happy with having Caroline pushed on him

To those who are upset about a man taking the seat – at least Steve Israel will bring experience to the position, rather than just a name.

Was it you that mentioned glycerin for flea control? I tried it on my lab/pitbull and it seemed to work as well as the poison dab on stuff.

How often do you have to use it? Do you have to spread it all over or will it spread itself like the poison dabs?

It works by direct contact and dehydration, so it pretty much has to be full coverage. It does spread a bit, but it’s hardly worth trying to economize by relying on that. Since it can be rinsed off easily and completely after a few minutes, why worry?
