I have only one thing I to say about the posts about Jon Favreau: WHERE IS HIS LIPSTICK?”

BillieJo 12.22.08 at 8:03 pm

100% chance when I post I will be the only one downstairs chasing my tail…

Yipes, don’t know if I want to jump into the hotbed of drama of TNA and PUMAs or not. Only read a few of the posts and wonder what the F is the point?
How can we ever get our Democratic party fixed so we can go back if we can’t find common ground with other PUMAs? Please stop the nipping and come together. This shouldn’t be a blog war, a feminist war, or even our play house is better cause we have new pink curtains while you have burlap.

Let’s stop being so sidetracked on other’s agenda, we have enough trouble keeping our own on track.
If you don’t like some other blog, stay off of it.
If the fighting continues we will never go forward.

If you hear the dogs, keep going.
Don’t give up and don’t get sidetracked on petty issues.
My 2 cents.

The drama was brought to us. From what I gather, most PUMA’S had nothing at all to do with new agenda and were quite happy to keep it that way.
I just object to being told I don’t count because I’m blue collar. Now that involves me.

Wrote this on Boston Globe blog!!!

Well isn’t it funny… groping women… mysogynist pig is what he is and you are promoting him and his sexist acts. Insulting the future Secretary of State is not funny nor is it going to be looked at as respectful by those who she will be talking to. If Our President allows it then how will she get the respect of other nations and build the respect for the USA once again?

Shame on the Boston Globe for promoting this obvious “bad boy” who happens to have a glib gift for writing retoric we “can’t believe in”. Based on his actions HIS WORDS MEAN NOTHING!!! Prowled to the Editors at the Boston Globe:

One of the disturbing aspects of the Favreau picture is that he is fondling a replica of a woman who is twice his age, a mom-substitute. And L’il Oedipus trumpets that behavior by posting it to Face Book! Jon-boy should take a hiatus from speech-writing and make an appointment with his local Freudian therapist. He is an embarrassment to himself, to the president-elect, and, actually, to his own mother. If the Globe’s editorial staff is incapable of comprehending the perverse connotations of Favreau’s ‘prank’, then you are more clueless than he is.

11

airforcehusker 12.22.08 at 8:45 pm

No i think the more vial problemwith the picture is the fact that these are just a bunch of college party kids, who probably havent had to struggle for most in life like oboma and now they are in a position of power telling us how we need to run ours and our families lives.

I hear ya sue66,
I don’t let things like that bother me because it’s my choice if I want to belong or not to a blog and since I worked in blue collar and white collar jobs yet I make peanuts…I never want to think of myself in any particular ‘class’. I just hate to see the fighting and think we should not spin our wheels getting upset at folks from blogs we don’t want to be a part of. If someone comes to our blog and feels they need to defend themselves………. we can choose to take it with a grain of salt or go on the attack.

You havent heard, America doesnt care. It is more important to have a messiah than to uphold the constitution of the united states. Oboma lives by one set of rules while preaching to us about living under a different set.

Repost from downstairs: My comments to the Boston Globe:
How could you possibly justify Jon Favreau as a contender for Bostonian of the Year? Are you people stupid? Do you not read the news, despite working at a newspaper? His disgusting behavior toward Hillary Clinton was misogyny at its most insidious, thinly disguised and appallingly excused as “boys will be boys” behavior. Would that photo still be funny if the victim depicted was one of your daughters? What if the victim was a black person and the groper wore a hood and held a rope? Is that still just silly or immature? Or is it hateful and inexcusable? My God, have some standards. And your condescending reaction to citizens exercising their First Amendment rights by expressing their opinions to a “free press” has served as an apt illustration to me and thousands of other Americans that there is no longer any such thing as a free press. You are bought and paid for, Boston Globe. Does your crass ignorance and arrogance prevent you from understanding that basic fact? Or will you some day have the intelligence and character to realize how far you’ve departed from what was once an honorable profession? I would tell you that you should be ashamed, but I doubt that you have the depth of character to even feel shame.

I was also curious to know if anyone has used the shirtless pics of the fraud to doctor up a new set of groper pics with his sweetheart Favreau?

35

Oh, before I go. I was watching my female cats one time, actually often…curiously. I would watch them hiss and swat at each other occasionally throughout the day as they walked by or around each other. I would sometimes see them take a sniff and walk away. Then later in the same day, I would see them napping in the same bed. I later wrote, and understand more fully what I wrote, now, after this election cycle:

To the sleep and awakening of consciousness, not even the cats know they are lying in the same room.
To the sleep and awakening of consciousness, even the cats know they are lying in the same room.

Goodnight, precious PUMAS. Let us nap in the same bed for the time being. Tomorrow is indeed another day.

I was in a relationship like that many years ago. I was always the problem. Never good enough for the girl in my life. Everything was always about needing to change me etc. One thing i learned through that was not compromise anything for anyone.

Ten years later i have been happily married with a set of twins and realize that i am better off. The point is you will be better off and if it was me i would tell the jerk to stop coming around.

FYI
In case you missed it, this book was recommended on Sheri’s radio program this evening:

Women’s Inhumanity to Women by Phyliss Chesler, author of the bestselling Woman and Madness, explores the “shadow side” of sisterhood: women treating each other badly. In this treatise on breaking the “cycle of cruelty” between women, controversial feminist Chesler addresses why sisters fight, why some women prefer to work for men rather than for women, and other highly subjective cases of woman/woman cruelty.

But, then, I’m really, really tired from shoveling snow all day. We got another 12 inches last night. Our maintenance man didn’t get in til late so I did almost all the shoveling for two apartment buildings, swept off 7 cars, helped push one car that got stuck in a snowbank in the parking lot, and yada, yada, yada.

Mountainsong, our latest winter weather advisory ended yesterday late afternoon, and was immediately followed by a wind chill advisory which ended at 9 this morning. We have another winter weather advisory (4-6″ of snow) tomorrow from 3 a.m until 9 pm… followed by a winter storm watch starting when the advisory ends tomorrow evening and ending wednesday late afternoon.

50

KarenWI 12.22.08 at 9:51 pm

Forgot to mention the winter storm watch for tomorrow evening into wed is supposed to be ANOTHER 4-8″ of snow… so between the two tuesday and wednesday it’s another 8-14″….

Not sure how coherent I am tonight. For some reason I am totally and completely exhuasted. Don’t know if it’s the pain pills, the shingles pills, or just fighting this thing, but I’m really groggy. Not sure if I’ll take the muscle relaxant pill overnight or not tonight. I may wait, and if I get a LOT of spasms tonight may cut one in half to try first..

Lilibet – Happy Birthday…

Karen WI – Shingles are aweful… I had them and didn’t miss a day of work. Mine was along the nerve that runs from top of hip to groin… SUCKS!!!! Especially having to wear pantyhose. Get better….

56

mountainsong 12.22.08 at 10:00 pm

We are so screwed. I think now is the day I foresaw long ago. Here we are, fighting for ‘equal rights’ and we all are about to lose every right we ever had, every freedom we thought we had. When our trusted servants (leaders) do whatever they wish, at their whim, with zero accountability (like BO and crew), we can hardly expect it to ve very long before the whole population is out of control doing the same. Tyranny is just around the corner. Laws only serve a purpose when EVERYONE agrees to obey them.
Mark my words~~~ Soon, there will be chaos in America and the peaceful, law abiding citizens will cry out, “Law And Order. Do anything, whatever you want, but give us law and order!!” That’s when the trap will be sprung and martial law will be imposed.
That’s when equality for anyone, any gender, will be based on wits and gun control (which means being able to hit what you aim at).
The ONLY reasons the corporate execs and politicians are getting away with milking us of all our wealth is because they know the system has already failed and they are desperately trying to save their own asses.
There is an old adage about how when people have a good thing, other people can be counted on to screw it up. Ummm……….

57

KarenWI 12.22.08 at 10:01 pm

goofsmom I have NO IDEA how you could wear pantyhose over this stuff!! I absolutely CANNOT wear a bra over it!!! …and I SHOULD wear one; I’ve always been large-breasted (sounds like I’m talking turkey here, huh?).

By the way, (speaking about our oceans), did you know a new study is tracking salmon using tiny radio transmitters up & down the west coast from north of San Francisco to Alaska? Scientists used to think the salmon were dying on the migration route in the streams along the way to the ocean. Now they’re finding the streams are fine, these fish (50 percent) DIE when they get to the OCEAN. Sad…

Aw, mountainsong. Hello sweetheart.

Guess what? lol. Today was horribly cold and I felt miserable. (-10 wind chill)

So, I went on over to my school and didn’t feel like going to the drafty library, so I went on over to the Student Union and sat on a sofa and sat with my laptop and worked on writing project. But it’s also holiday time, so things are dead. Anyway, I start hearing my music coming from the rec room (pool tables and games). Then saw some people I knew and went in there…and somehow I got everyone dancing. lol. It was awesome. I freakin’ love NYC. I haven’t dance-danced in so long.

Meanwhile, I don’t find most people attractive, but who was there but this new associate professor and omg, beyond handsome–like drop dead–head-turning omg good looking. I wound up dancing with him! He was really good–could def. move. The way he was looking at me. *groan* It was fantastic. lol.

*sigh* so anyway, I am getting so….antsy lately! Feel like I want to go out–go dancing, but with *just* the girls, know what I mean.

I don’t want to stinkin’ be married and tied down like this. I’m too pumpin’ to be all settled down like this. *want to be single* This is what it feels like to want to be single. Just…crazy attracted to more and more people. Feeling on fire.

Anyway, lol. I thought I would tell you ’cause I know you likely know what I am talking about. Wanting to just go out and dance. I have music blasting right now. lol.

Awww, mon frere, I can sooo relate to how you feel.
Ya better watch out for those professors. LOL
I say this because I have a friend I was helping about 10 years ago. She was going to school at Washington State, getting her Master’s in Biology when she met a tall, visiting Biophysics Prof. from Germany.
Well, they are married now (not exactly happily) and living in Staten Island where he works and she teaches Biology to 10th graders.
Just give yourself a break and be good to you. You sound like you feel tied down. If whoever you are with really cares about you, he will give you space and freedom to be you. Loving someone is like holding a tiny bird in the open palm of the hand, open so it knows it is free to fly whnever it takes the fancy. NOT in a cold and cruel, closed fist that strangles one’s joie de vie.
Know what i mean, Jelly Bean?

I have been feeling that way since about Feb. of this year… The Matrix was the best way I could think of explaining it. I loved those movies… anyway, it really does feel like that… we have woken up and are seeing the world as it really is and not as the Media and Gov (Matrix) wants us to see it..

It amazes me how these fools automatically think we all want to here about the turd they call a messiah. I mean after awhile the brainwash gets a little to much. I am the exact same way, when i find magazines or newspapers here at work i simply throw them into our shredder and it becomes instant paper scraps. I do it all the time. I was the laugh at our work christmas party this year. They telephone record all of our conversations here at work, they found one from election night when a british lady called in to wish us americans the best becuase of the new president. I went off on her based on my opinion, made sure i said that so it wouldnt come back to bite me later. But it never ends.

When my divorce was final, I gave up everything I had~~property, cabin, dogs, horses~~ But I had my FREEDOM. Sometimes I go to sleep crying because I’m alone~~~only to awaken in the morning laughing because I’m free.
I love loving. I love being “in love.” Most of the time I’d give the next 10 years for just one more day.
But people live a long time nowadays and being together with someone ’til death do us part” can be a long damn time. There is no room for codependence and immaturity.
I’ve been single, now for a little over 5 years. I know myself, who I am, very well and I enjoy my own company. And I am secure in the knowledge I can pretty much take care of myself and survive.
When there is no sense of adventure left in a relationship, it’s time for MountainSong to fly.
Lately, perhaps it’s the season, I’ve been reflecting alot on all that.
When I was younger, in all honesty and hindsight, I only THOUGHT I knew how to love, and see my selfishness.
Today, I try to love everyone and just be their friends.
So many of us never realize our codependence and rather than falling “in love”, we take prsisoners, instead. I bet some of you know what I mean as well as how it feels on both ends.
The first step in the Path to Enlightment is Service to Others. But to be Enlightened can also mean being all you can be. Let your light shine (Be wh You ARE). It seems a shame to me, a ‘sin’ even, to live a whole life and never realize yourself and be all you CAN be.
Anyone who would deny me that had better not be telling me they “love me.”

Why some women’s groups are miffed at Obama

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/12/22/women.cabinet/index.html#cnnSTCText
CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) — What’s made up of five women, four African-Americans, three Latinos, two Republicans and two Asians, including a Nobel Prize winner?

The answer: President-elect Barack Obama’s Cabinet.

It might be diverse, but not everyone is happy. Some women’s groups are disappointed. Among Obama’s strongest backers during the election, they now say they don’t have enough seats at the table.

Sorry mountainsong, I was feeling ignored, I had a hard day too including an extra long and extra snowy commute to work.

I am still catching up on posts & it looks like it was a good PROWL day.

Another thing. I come here primarily (first & foremost) for political discussion. The social aspects come in as a very close second. But for me, I have more social contacts in my life then the political discourse I want and need, so it’s always first on my mind.

This is not directed at you mountainsong but just me expressing how I perceive the BLOG. Every day I come on here at the end of the day and it’s a bit of an adjustment looking forward to politics and seeing discussions about everything but.

I’m complaining, yes, but not really expecting things to be different. And now that I’ve experienced feeling ignored (even though you didn’t do it intentionally), I know in the future if someone comes on here at night asking for a re-cap, I will do my damned best to give them my cliff notes, lol…

Guess it’s all just a learning experience and one of give and take. And again, I’m sorry mountainsong you had a hard day.

TOPIC: Breastfeeding

jenniforhillary,
RE: “I think breast feeding is something that women should do IN PRIVATE”

jennifor, I couldn’t disagree more. Think about it, our breasts have milk ducts, they are _made_ to produce milk. For infants. And there’s so many proven benefits for breastfeeding I won’t post them here – those interested just google “benefits of breastfeeding.”

Nijma, with all due respect to your late husband, who cares what any man thinks about breastfeeding? Honest to God. Really, people! You’re totally bending over for the idiocy of Patriarchal society here.

I’m surprised to see such attitudes expressed on this kind of a progressive Blog. Really and truly the only way to de-sexualize the human body is to stop hiding it so much.

Jenni, Nijma, I hope you will both re-think your views because the United States has one of the lowest rates of breastfeeding and it comes at the expense of healthy infants, even their teeth come in straighter and their little brains develop better and they get fewer colds and flu and earaches when breastfed.

Our culture is so suppressed about the stupidest things.

Even if you disagree w/everything I’ve just said, it’s very easy to breastfeed in public very discreetly. We need to be ENCOURAGING young women everywhere to do more breastfeeding, and it’s not fair to expect OR realistic to expect it to always be done “privately.”

Wow I could go on and on because this is a topic that’s been very HIGH on my list of “how I would improve American culture” for a long, long, time…

p.s. jennifor, I really liked your letter to the Globe, which I just had a chance to read, great job! I am really glad we haven’t given up on Favreau & Gropergate yet…

Yes I saw the movie “Holiday.” What I remember most about it. I was sitting in the theater, and when the scene where she opens the door & Jude Law is standing on her front porch happened, I let out this spontaneous half-laugh, half-gasp thing that was the only sound in the theater, lol..! Good looks like his should be illegal. I liked him in Cold Mountain, too.

Mountainsong, you are a good Samaritan. It sounded like you folks up by the border got the worst of the weather. The snow is beautiful but all my kids are home and I am stuck in the house! We canceled Christmas with the extended family and it is a damn good thing because we opened all the gifts in the last few days since we were so bored.

Kat… I remember partially living with a man, years ago. You know sometimes I am glad to be old. Unlike Mountainsong I like the perfect balance and predictability you get from a long term relationship although many of my tries at relationships with men didn’t work out until after age 30. Still it was fun and educational to try. And besides no matter how many times I swore off men I really like them and can’t help myself.

Breast feeding should be a choice. But, it is sometimes difficult to make the choice to not breast feed when there are a bunch of nag groups telling you you are an awful person if you don’t. Personally, I did not want to be chained to breast feeding.

Hey, Moms: No More Baby Formula in the Hospital Gift Bag
By Sewell Chan

World Breastfeeding Week begins on Wednesday, and in an important change in its policies, New York City’s public hospital system announced this morning that it is no longer supplying free baby-formula samples in the gift bags it provides to new mothers.

Instead, the new mothers will each be given a breast-milk bottle cooler, disposable nursing pads, breastfeeding tips and a baby T-shirt with the slogan “I Eat at Mom’s” emblazoned on the front. Breastfeeding coaches will accompany the mothers at bedside “to help initiate breastfeeding within one hour of delivery.” The hospital agency will also give out free breast pumps and make available hospital-grade electric breast pumps to mothers whose newborns have to remain in the hospital.
http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/07/31/hey-moms-no-more-baby-formula-in-the-hospital-gift-bag/\

Formula samples have been shown to make women less likely to breastfeed.

Researchers surveyed 1,295 hospitals in 21 eastern states and Washington, D.C., about their no-cost formula policies from October 2006 to March 2007. The report found that about 94% of hospitals acknowledged distributing formula sample packs. However, the number of hospitals doing away with the practice is increasing, particularly between 1979 and 2006, according to the report. Among 80 hospitals that did not hand out formula samples, 20 eliminated the practice prior to 2006, while 60 had done so after 2000 (Reuters, 9/3).

“…Buried nearly at the end of the Washington Post story on Blago-gate is this nugget: “Fitzgerald’s team has scrambled to interview Jackson, as well as members of the Obama transition team who talked with Blagojevich about the appointment.”

So we now have more than one? And who, exactly, has been interviewed by the U.S. Attorney? If we had an independent and aggressive media they would be asking.

How many conversations did Rahm Emanuel and Blago (or his advisors) have? Not clear yet. But Patrick Fitzgerald has the tapes, so the Obama team better not be counting with fuzzy math. And how many between the SEIU and Emanuel on the topic? That may be the most intriguing part of this tale.

You gotta love the sycophants in the media who, based on nothing more than a leak of the Obama team’s own internal review, proclaim Rahn Emanuel is “in the clear.” No need to ask Emanuel questions or hear the Blago tapes. Just move along.”

hillstheone: I absolutely agree with you regarding breast feeding. Not only is it more healthy for babies it costs so much less. That baby formula is expensive and now they find some traces of melamine in it. I remember about 20 years ago they found one of the top children’s apple juice producers had no apples at all in their “apple juice” just corn syrup and artificial flavors. Men can take their negative opinions of breast feeding and shove them. Thankfully some men are supportive of mothers and babies.

Yes, even though I want to be single now, I am more like a serial monogamist. Or, I mean, I have had a series of long term relationships, instead of just single and dating right and left. I like being in a relationship too.

re: thread
As far as breastfeeding:
I made a few comments on this on the last thread. But if I ever had kids, I would definitely do it. Healthier for baby. I’ve also read studies that it helps with intelligence…? If that is the case, breast feeding is a must.

Nijma 12.22.08 at 11:47 pm

HTO, it is not up to me either to sexualize or desexualize another woman’s body. I’m sure she can decide for herself what she wants to do and how much privacy she wants.

On the other hand, I wouldn’t be real eager to see guys decide to run around with all ther Stuff hanging out because they didn’t want to be desexualized (or was it sexualized–I’m confused.) And while we’re on that subject, I wish they would pull their pants up.

#144 scarlett,

Those things you cite (hospitals not giving out formula, having breastfeeding coaches, etc) are not new at all (not that you’re saying they are), but rather, are done because WHO (World Health Organization) comes out time & again in support of more breastfeeding.

Also, the original topic was not should you or shouldn’t you, it was “women should breastfeed in private,” and I couldn’t disagree more, in fact it’s discriminatory in my book. I do understand some women choose to, as long as they understand the consequences it’s their choice.

153

hillstheone 12.22.08 at 11:50 pm

scarlett, I meant to some “I do understand some women choose not to,” but I think you knew that!

(I haven’t read these yet)

“What the Heck Happened?”

“…Then on September 21, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson went on Meet the Press to announce the urgent need for a $700 billion bailout of banks. Seven. Hundred. Billion. $700,000,000,000. Over one quarter of the entire federal budget, after bailing out Freddie, Fannie and AIG and before the sweeteners were attached. Over five Marshall Plans, even after adjusting for inflation.”

SeattleGirl~~ We are not so dissimilar. I would want that kind of relationship as well. most of us would, I think.
For me, it didn’t happen and I blame only myself.
First, because I didn’t know myself. So I couldn’t say exactly what i wanted in a relationship because I really didn’t know.. I rather think the ladies i was with were the same.
Years later (ok, so I’m retarded) I learned that we discover who we are from our relationships.
Today, I know who I am and I know who I want and need to love. I set my sights pretty high because it’s not only what I want, it’s what i deserve. Only when you get honest with yourself can you be truly honest with everyone else. And, similarly, only when we learn to love ourselves can we truly love others. And when we get THERE, it’s really not even about ME anymore.
If this person comes into my life, I’m not going to be spending a whole lot of time worrying about what some dipshit president is doing.
One of the neat things about being me is that if I need a man, I can be one. The one I can be isn’t like most.
And if i need to be a woaman, which is how I feel most of the time…well, you know….
A couple months ago, a friend remarked that she thought a Harley Davidson would look good on me. And I’m like ‘Whoa!!!’ I can ride a horse with the best of them ( had my own Quarter and an Leopard Appaloosa). But I never did Harley’s.

177

mountainsong 12.23.08 at 12:46 am

Nijma 12.23.08 at 12:39 am It also arises out of the single-mother poverty of the ghettos, where there is never enough money to buy children new clothing. So, often, the handmedowns didn’t fit. They slid down the ass because they didn’t have belts and so held them with their hands. In time, it became like a badge or insignia. When they are arrested and sent to prison they usually get ill-fitting pants, just as they are used to, and so it becomes more entrenched. On the streets, the easily-influenced youth take to the style to emulate their ‘idols’ and………

Those pants are obnoxious, silly, and show off some fine asses. Oop, i mean….Damnit, Kat.

LOL Can’t ya just see BO, and Emmanuel, and JJ Jr. and the rest of the gang wearing that? We just might since Sean John is working on BO’s clothing designs for the inauguration.

I have some video from Denver–some speeches at the candlelight event in the park (RD and a couple others), some visibility stuff (the Bots were really in our faces there and I just kept the camera going as a defense), Murphy talking after Hillary’s speech, saying “if you hear the dogs…”, the farflung “free speech zone”, the march that started a half hour early and ended in the middle of nowhere, and the goofy Jesus freaks on bicycles with their flags. Imo no one should criticize anyone else for doing PUMA work anonymously. Bots can be very vicious. Some people are so vulnerable that if they could NOT be anonymous they could not participate at all.

Posting these comments from someone at No Quarter – keen observations about BO’s selection of Favreau to write his speeches….

Comment by JozefAL | 2008-12-21 14:27:48

“I just wonder if anyone else has asked this question: Why would Obama, out of ALL the potential speechwriters that he could have hired, select a WHITE BOY? How does Favreau “understand” Obama? Obama (supposedly) spent years at Trinity in an effort to become more connected with the African-American community but the guy he has for a speechwriter is a white frat boy?
Have NO African-American leaders commented on the seeming irony of the “first Black President” relying on words written by (yet another) White guy?
I fully understand that virtually every single President has relied on the speechwriting skills of others (almost all of whom have labored doing so in virtual anonymity) but for Obama to rely on a guy nearly half his age to craft the speeches (no matter how much “input” Obama actually has in the final drafting) seems incredulous, especially when that speechwriter is not of “the community” to which Obama spent so many years in trying to belong.”

205

Nijma 12.23.08 at 1:23 am

Loans==Moslems are prohibited from interest (“usary”)–in the Middle Ages Christians didn’t believe in interest either–that’s why the Jews were such traders and travelers–their religion permitted interest. How Moslems buy houses I don’t know–I don’t think they all pay cash, but I bet the money comes from the Middle East where they understand the religious principles. If someone can figure out a way to do that in a standard bank, they could probably take some business away from the foreign banks.

That just sickens me. Stories like this seem to be getting more common, so where’s the outrage?? Even the article was written ho-hum. Maybe crimes against women need to be considered hate crimes. On first read I would have to say that “O” has a speech writer that he can relate to. “O” is a frat-loving, silver-spoon-in-mouth, who is still a kid and relates more to the “white” side of his genes.

He only gamed the AA community for their vote and he displays that by his choices and actions…

Mountain, Nijma;
Sharia finance pretends not to charge interest. Lender and borrower enter into a joint contract with shared rights to whatever asset (if any) the loan will purchase. Over time, the borrower buys out the lender’s share. It just so happens that the amount paid out equals what he would have paid if interest had been charged in the evil Western way. What a coincidence!

Karen;
Get some Glycerin USP or 100% Vegetable Glycerin (the health food store version of pure glycerin). Wipe it on (syrupy texture, a little goes a long way). Rubbing unnecessary, it will be drawn into the skin. It settles down inflammation and promotes healing of all kinds. Can be taken orally, an ounce or two a day, if you prefer (it’s an approved supplement, and a major component of retail ice cream and many other products.) Use as a sweetener if you wish; it has about a 60% sweetness rating.

Email me at brianfh01-at-yahoo.ca if you want more detailed info.

I was thinking of a very small stray asteroid, but I suppose it would be hard to control the collateral damage …

Someday I would really like to hear about your cabin. It sounds like the perfect lifestyle to me (remember the what I wanted to be thread – lighthouse keeper or fire watcher), I feel peaceful thinking about it.
I just can not sleep tonight, storms really affect me. I have my laptop,a couple of good books and a blanket in a nesting chair. When I’m not reading this blog I’m staring out at the snow. At this hour of the morning, this is peaceful.

This might be kind of subtle, but how about a photoshop of just the Favreau figure from The Photo with a tiny puppet of Obama held by strings from the groping fingers.

With some indication that Obama is delivering the Inauguration address. Implying that Favreau’s shame will be overshadowing Obama’s words from now on.

BrianH,

Was it you that mentioned glycerin for flea control? I tried it on my lab/pitbull and it seemed to work as well as the poison dab on stuff.

How often do you have to use it? Do you have to spread it all over or will it spread itself like the poison dabs?

Boston Globe opinion piece by Derrick Jackson on choice of Warren by Obama for prayers at inauguration:

“Obama issued a statement saying, “America’s top doctor should be a doctor for all Americans, and so I have serious reservations about nominating someone who would inject his own anti-gay ideology into critical decisions about the health and well-being of our nation . . . the United States surgeon general’s office is no place for bigotry or ideology that would trump science and good judgment.”

Yet here is Obama exercising terrible judgment on someone who just got done injecting anti-gay ideology into politics in the biggest state in the nation.

Mama , here’s another interesting article on the same subject .

“Obama has proved himself repeatedly to be a very tolerant, very rational-sounding sort of bigot.”
snip

More recently, Warren told Beliefnet that he thinks allowing a gay couple to marry is similar to allowing “a brother and sister to be together and call that marriage.” He then helpfully added that he’s also “opposed to an older guy marrying a child and calling that a marriage.”

Good Morning Everyone –

The latest news from New York about the senate seat may please some of you, but anger others.

It is being reported that Gov. Patterson has been having meetings with the Long Island congressman, Steve Israel, concerning the seat.

Here in NY we’ve known for some time that Patterson is not at all happy with having Caroline pushed on him

To those who are upset about a man taking the seat – at least Steve Israel will bring experience to the position, rather than just a name.

It works by direct contact and dehydration, so it pretty much has to be full coverage. It does spread a bit, but it’s hardly worth trying to economize by relying on that. Since it can be rinsed off easily and completely after a few minutes, why worry?

If you want a surprising analysis of the current Dem platform, check out Day-by-day for Dec 21 – 23. You’ll also learn a new meaning for the geographical term “Sudentenland”.
