Actually, I spent most of my life ignoring both parties as far as possible, but I think the Dems somehow became Republican-wannabes and lost their identity. That’s one of the reasons PUMA developed, I believe. Changing the subject a little… I wish we could somehow get rid of all primary caucases- in both parties. I simply cannot understand how anybody who wants “all votes to count” can POSSIBLY be FOR caucases! It EXCLUDES everyone who can’t be there “in person” – that means our military, people who are working, people who can’t get babysitters, people who can’t get a ride there, the invalid, the sick, and the elderly. That’s a LOT of people to exclude from voting!!! I wish we in PUMA could somehow put that on our agenda for the next election- to ban all caucases… I just don’t know how to do that, or even where to begin on such a thing. I’m just giving my “Christmas Wish List” here…

To all Californians – if the dark days come & OFECK moves into the white house … what do you think of an initiative to get on the 2010 ballot to require the SoS to confirm the prez qualifications before anyone can be put on the ballot. Has anyone experience in CA ballot initiatives? Would we need a lawyer? Would it cost a lot? Do we have enough email addy’s of people to help circulate initiatives?

murphy: just do *not* feel too sad about it. Confusion and situations of rejection and misunderstanding, etc can be demoralizing, especially when the argument is based on moral grounds.

But if they can’t see the bigger picture–that you are clearly someone who cares a great deal about women’s rights and justice for women, then they don’t know what they are doing. Every new organization *needs* people who have a passion for the cause. You can’t buy true passion. Passion is the fuel to make it work. They screwed up severing their relationship with you over a personal matter. You have connections here and and an “audience” and active participants who “work” for free here on the blog, and if they don’t understand that that is a valuable resource, then they are clueless and have no idea how to do “politics” and succeed as a movement.

President-elect Obama’s inaugural committee is inviting supporters to give as much as $50,000 or raise as much as $300,000 to underwrite the festivities, and is offering incentives that include tough-to-get spots at the swearing-in ceremony.

On Wednesday afternoon, top campaign donors – who helped Obama become the $1 billion man this campaign cycle — were e-mailed a schedule showing the perks of supporting the team one more time.

The contribution limits were voluntarily imposed by the Presidential Inaugural Committee, which points out that individuals have given as much as $250,000 to past inaugurals.

In keeping with the committee’s promised “new standard for openness,” organizers are posting the names of all the fund-raisers – known as “bundlers” – and donors of $200 or more. The committee says it posts the names of donors – along with their cities and occupations – within 48 hours of receiving the contribution.

According to the initial disclosure, seven people have raised the maximum of $300,000 each, and about 180 people have given the maximum of $50,000.

Linda Douglass of the Presidential Inaugural Committee said organizers are incurring additional expense as a result of their effort to make the inauguration more open, including JumboTron screens and sound systems to serve people without tickets.

“Inaugurations are privately funded,” Douglass said. “There are certain costs associated with executing our goal of making this the most open and accessible inauguration in recent times. … We’re being as open as transparent and possible and limiting the influent of special-interest money as much as possible.”

Many women are super shooters and my trainer said they usually do better in the tests. Usually more accurate and more concentrated. (CHICAGO)(December 12, 2008) “Blagogate,” of course, concerns the questionable conduct of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. But as Blagogate metastasizes, “Obamagate” is starting to emerge.

Obama may not be guilty in Blagogate, but he is acting guilty. His evasiveness is significant. The obvious evasiveness of Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod is highly significant. This is the way Watergate began.

I first walked into the federal courthouse in Chicago forty years ago. After spending forty years in a building on and off, you learn a lot about the place, and the people who work there. Something stinks in Blagogate, and that odor is now morphing into Obamagate.

Obama said Thursday he needs a “few days” to compile a list of contacts. A few days? He sure isn’t taking the arrest of the governor seriously, or acting expeditiously. His response time reflects a leisurely attitude to getting the facts out. It also reflects deliberate evasiveness. I read Lynn Sweet’s comments today from Boston, and David Axelrod apparently refused to provide the date when he last spoke to Blagojevich, http://www.suntimes.com/news/sweet/1327703,CST-NWS-sweet12.article Why couldn’t he give a simple, straight answer?

Rahm Emanuel was attending a children’s concert when Obama was announcing his HEALTH team. HEALTH team. Emanuel took a walk, and stonewalled.

The cover story that Valerie Jarrett was never interested in the senate seat is hogwash. Can you image how powerful her role could be if she was sitting inside the senate caucus as an Obama intimate? She may not have had a burning desire to be a U. S. Senator, but to say no one was interested in seeing her appointed to Obama’s vacant and unused seat is blarney.

On and on it goes.

Let me tell you straight up where I am heading. I think Obama has a “Deep throat” in the U. S. Attorney’s Office. It could be Fitzgerald, but probably not. Rather, someone close to Fitzgerald is the mole.

Governor Blagojevich’s behavior is certainly loathsome and possibly criminal. But that is no excuse for the lynch mob circling his office. Blago is not going quietly into the night. There will be dog fighting of legendary proportions. And slowly, but inexorably, Obama is being sucked into conflict. Obamagate is rising from the ashes of Blagogate.

By inauguration day, Obama could be bleeding. He could be politically dead before he even takes the oath of office. Obama, after all, is a man of “confidence,” not substance. He has created public “confidence” that he will do something. But what? Public confidence can erode in an instant, as it did for Blagojevich.

All we have seen to date is edited and thus self-serving government versions of tapes that raise serious doubts among lawyers. I had a feeling during the Tony Rezko trial that the U. S. Attorney’s office was protecting Obama. The criminal case against Barack Obama concerning the Rezko land deal for the purchase of Obama’s mansion was a good deal stronger than the criminal case against Governor Blagojevich involving the “sale” of Obama’s senate seat. But the prosecutors walked away from a strong Rezko-Obama charge, while they are now trying to pump up a weak Blagojevich crime. Who did it, and why?

Likewise, Obama was tipped to the Blagojevich situation some time in November. Not every one was in on the tip. Obama kept the information close to his chest. There was also an unseemly haste on Tuesday to absolve the Obama campaign of any wrongdoing. Deep throat, can you hear me?

Finally, anyone following Blagogate would be a fool to believe that Blago has no evidence to support his defense or to undermine the government’s case against him.

What has happened this week in Chicago, under the auspices of federal prosecutors and Barack Obama, is nothing less than an attempted coup. The FBI released “edited” tapes. Blago was not allowed to present a defense. And a chorus of media goons starting demanding an immediate resignation. This was a de facto coup. And it may have failed. It may have backfired.

Rather than Blago shaking down Obama, the facts may ultimately show that when Blago stood in Obama’s way, however wrongly, Obama used his juice inside the federal government to remove Obama forcibly. I have always felt that Obama has dictatorial inclinations. We may have seen the first installment this week in Chicago.

Go back and look at the 1969 film “Z” by the director Costa-Gavras. What first appears to be a mistaken killing turns out on closer inspection to be an attempted coup. Or, go see the new movie “Doubt” this weekend. Both films deal with the distortions of reality which can take place when all the facts are not known.

Obamagate? You heard it here first.

After forty years in the U. S. Courthouse I can hear the ghosts. You see and learn a lot in 40 years. And what I have seen tells me something is terribly wrong with Blagojevich’s arrest. What’s wrong with Blagogate is Obamagate.

I think you’re right about Obama’s chicago politics revealing him for the thug that he is. But don’t worry, even though the news media probably won’t lift even a pinky to expose him (well, MAYBE public radio OR MAYBE NY Times), our man Patrick Fitzgerald will not let Obama OR his team of thugs sleep easy at night.

My thinking is that most all of the people in Obama’s inner circle are either culpable, chargable w/crimes, or at a minimum, tainted by what we have seen the beginnings of this week.

Also, call me crazy, I still don’t see him being sworn in on innaguration day. Even if he is I believe something very shocking is going to hit the fan shortly thereafter. At that point the media will finally start covering the news the way they should have all along.

Yeah talk about shocking did you see the story about the terrorist arrested in Blegium who where planning suicide bombings during the next meeting of the European Union members. The same group that turned a blind eye to our terrorsit problems could have been knee deep in tragedy. I believe only a sign of times to come in the next few years.

Relationship with Blago

The three broadcast networks started their evening newscasts on Tuesday with stories on Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich’s arrest and corruption charges. All of the newscasts mentioned Blagojevich’s Democratic affiliation, but only in passing. And, only ABC’s World News questioned the details about the Illinois Governor’s relationship with President-elect Barack Obama, while NBC and CBS brushed over the President-elect’s connections with Blagojevich and seemed content to end their investigation of this relationship by reporting on Obama’s statement that he was not aware of what was going on.
ABC and NBC both identified Blagojevich as a Democrat early in their reports. NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams’s introduction to the report by Lee Cowan described the charge as “that the two-term Democratic Governor tried to sell a seat in the US Senate to the highest bidder.” Brian Ross, reporting for ABC’s World News, identified the Illinois Governor as “the boyish looking Democrat branded a greedy, foul mouth politician who tried to sell a US Senate seat to the highest bidder.”
The CBS Evening News, however, did not identify Blagojevich as a Democrat until the very end of Dean Reynolds’s report when an on-screen graphic identified the Governor as “(D) Illinois” and Reynolds claimed that “fellow Democrats worry that whoever he might pick could wind up tainted politically and could ultimately cost the party a valuable seat in Congress.”

World News anchor Charlie Gibson first asked Tapper “what contact, or do we know what contacts the Barack Obama camp had with Blagojevich about the Senate vacancy?”:
TAPPER: Well, that of course is the big question, Charlie, because Governor Blagojevich in this criminal complaint speaks quite assuredly as if he knows that President-elect Obama’s not willing to give him other than, quote, appreciation, for naming his preferred candidate to the Senate seat, so with whom did he speak? We’re not getting a lot of answers from the Obama team right now.
Gibson went on to ask, “and, Jake, I know Barack Obama now is not probably going to get within ten thousand miles of the Illinois governor because this is so scandalous but they were close in the past, right?”
TAPPER: Well, I wouldn’t say that they were personally close but they had the kind of symbiotic relationship that a lot of state politicians had. Obama advised him in Blagojevich’s 2002 run. Blagojevich worked for Obama in his 2004. Obama endorsed Blagojevich for reelection very early in 2005 for that 2006 race. Things started to sour, however, when it became clear that Blagojevich was under investigation and they haven’t really had a close relationship professionally in the last couple years. In fact, Obama kept Blagojevich from speaking at the Democratic convention over the summer.
The report filed by Lee Cowan on NBC’s Nightly News was less descriptive and failed to identify David Axelrod, Obama’s chief strategist turned White House Senior Advisor, as the person who claimed Obama had spoken to Blagojevich about his Senate replacement:
COWAN: Barack Obama has advised Blagojevich in the past, even endorsed him, and according to one senior adviser did talk to Blagojevich about his replacement in the Senate. But today aides said that adviser misspoke, and the president-elect himself said he knew nothing about the behind-the-scenes efforts to fill his former seat.
Later, NBC political director Chuck Todd appeared to discuss Obama’s relationship with Blagojevich and claimed that Blagojevich’s statements were the “most exculpatory thing” for Obama: “A lot of concentric circles between Blagojevich and Obama. There’s no question that there’s going to be some folks that Obama’s bringing from Chicago to Washington, some that might have actually had conversations with the governor that are going to be in tape recordings that the FBI was wiretapping with. But there’s clearly no evidence that anything was going on, and if anything, the quotes from Blagojevich in that amazing indictment are the most exculpatory thing there for the President-elect.”
The CBS Evening News was the worst, though, as Dean Reynolds did not detail Obama’s relationship with the Illinois Governor or report on Axelrod’s claims that Obama had talked with Blagojevich about who his replacement should be:
REYNOLDS: Prosecutors said the complaint against Blagojevich did not include Obama and while the extent of contact with Obama’s transition team and the governor are far from clear, the President-elect today was.
OBAMA: I had no contact with the governor or his office and so we were not–I was not aware of what was happening. And as I said, it’s a sad day for Illinois. Beyond that, I don’t think it’s appropriate to comment.

I don’t get why everyone is so excited about the negotiations going on over Obama’s senate seat. In every ploace there is, it matters what kind of money a candidate can bring to the table to help other candidates and the party. When they talked about Caroline Kennedy in New York, one of the things they considered was her fundraising capabilities.

So Blagojevich talked about offering money. Big deal. Did money change hands? ????? Myiq talked about his ex getting killed. Did anyone arrest him for murder yet? Nope. Now he’s got a video about grandma getting run over by a reindeer. And what about the guy with the Sarah Palin noose? and the punching out Sarah Palin? Did they do anything? It’s just talk. So far.

Of course, Blagojevich has kept his campaign promise not to expand gambling. That can’t make someone too happy.

A friend of mine called me and woke me up in the middle of the night to warn me about this.

She was reading World Net Daily and read some of the comments and went to different links. She said we ALL have to be worried.

She said she went to one cite that showed we still have those WWII camps that were used, I guess, for the Japanese.

You could say we’re being alarmists, but, with the Civilian Force, Truth Squad, Fairness Doctrine, tinkering with the natural born clause and term limits of the constitution, MSM cover-up, back-door deals between political groups and everything else I have forgotten this election year, our worry might be well-founded.

Over the first several months of joining puma pac, the number of Pumas I trusted numbered 7. Over time, having had contact with Pumas from other blogs, that number grew to 11. This, just so you know where I’m coming from.

I do not believe the New Agenda is a fraud, as in a front for anything other than that which they say they are… the new NOW (which is funny in a pathetic way, especially in light of their recent actions regarding gropergate. Maybe they shopuld call them selves the New Now Old NOW).

And while they count among their members, women who self-identify as feminists, and are branding the NA as ‘the’ new movement for ‘all women’ (the term I most clearly recall being tossed around is: ‘regardless of party affiliation”, although, in fairness, one woman (a guest or caller on blog radio), did run through the ‘quick list’ (class, status, race, educational background, etc.), in defining their group / movement, they are sure to remind people tat they will not make the same mistakes NOW made, and then they proceed to trash NOW (women thrown under the bus), with zero recognition to the advances and accomplishments NOW has made in the name of women. Then, for whatever reason, Murphy (a woman) is thrown under the bus, along with Betty Jean, and who knows how many other women are under their bus that we don’t know about.

I’m waiting for NA to define what “all women” means, and I want the definition to be expressed in actions, not ‘just words’. They also might think about what feminisim actually means, and how it translates into action. I’m not invested though, I left my enthusiasm and support for NA behind weeks ago, and their recent actions just reinforces my position.

Wanted to tell you I had a sad dream last night about a special someone I have been waiting and waiting to hear from over the holidays.

But THEN, at the end of the dream a woman was fixing breakfast for me. Guess what she was fixing?? Scrambled eggs! She was making them in the pan and there were a LOT of them, I think about 10 eggs! I kind of doubt this means anything but I couldn’t help thinking about our earlier conversation about Humpty Dumpty (Oblahblah) having a great fall & having scrambled eggs for Christmas, haha!!

Maybe it’s not just Oblahblah facing possible criminal charges, maybe there are 8 or 9 others….!

I’m pretty much reduced to a wheelchair because of spinal stenosis. It’s really gotten bad in just a few weeks and I can barely walk 15 feet now. The fall I had was caused by it and the fall seems to have accelerated it somehow. Any help would be appreciated.

I saw where you said you have spinal stenosis and it put you in a wheelchair. I’m wondering how old you are and how long you’ve known you had it.
Just this last year, I was sent to the ‘Pain Clinic’ where the doctor there showed me the results of my MRI on the computer. apparently I have stenosis, also, in three places in the thoracic area. I also have a completely degenerated and disappeared disc, along with 4 other bulging discs, so the doctors don’t want to operate for fear of making things worse.

As you both well know the communication between us lasted 3 hours or so not 3 days although her continued ranting appears to have lasted 3 days.

Unfortunatly, even though I have tried my best through blog and newsletters to smoth it over for the sake of the organization and the other founders Amy Siskind will not be appeased until she has had her pound of flesh.

Of course – I will not let her and I can see that you will not either. I am proud to call you both friend and I can see that we have an army of other friends that will never give her the ability to win this vendetta moreover she has proven to be unfir to head this organization and the founders should move to dethrown her immediately before she destroys the entire group with her poisonous hatred.

Most leaders of groups are not crazy. However, if one has a vendetta of some kind I still say it’s best to approach it privately. Contact friends in the group privately and let them know what you feel and why. Peel off from the group. I know of two other groups who are for the same eye disease as the one I own. The first one I used to be a moderator in. In that group I found out they are getting paid under the table the the drs in order to get willing guinea pigs for experiments of new procedures without the patients knowing how risky it is. That group is still going strong, and is still growing. There is no way I can expose the group and get it destroyed, much as I’d like to. I have to just run my own group with the truth, and pray for those who are being misled in that group. The other group is one who was started by somebody we kicked out for being stark raving mad. Just as an example, he was telling members to go have cornea transplants done and then go out that same day and use a jackhammer!! His “group” is small and not amounting to much of anything so I’m not too concerned about that. However, sometimes when a group leader is really off the wall, accusing them of it publicly isn’t something I’d recommend; work privately, and then work on your own (or with your friends) to be one to tell the TRUTH to counter the misinformation the wacky leader is giving out… but don’ do it in THEIR group. Usually you will only strengthen those who believe in that leader by doing that….

MK, I couldn’t open the link about the rule but I hope it’s referring to the use of our MILITARY personnel within our own borders, which was not allowed. Recently the BUSH admin has proposed allowing the military to participate in response to terror attacks within our borders, which makes sense to me. Obimbo wants a civilian force outside the military chain of command. I think it’s a different thing. You may be right to worry, though!

I love the full moon and the coming solstice. My youngest was born on the winter solstice which was also a full moon. There was a snow storm that night and they had 15 births. What a night! And what a kid she has turned out to be. I am not sad at this time of year because there is a new woman’s movement starting. This time it is not one voice. We need a radical voice, a comical voice and a firm grown up voice. I actually think a violent woman’s voice would be helpful because then the non violent women’s voices seem like a good bet to negotiate with. I think there are enough women who have made it out to the top of their professions that we can now make the final push to 52% representation in the power structures of the world, Religious, Media, Corporate and Political. We don’t need permission, we need to run over anyone who gets in our way.

Ok, I have an idea on this New Agenda/ Puma thing.

Now that the dust has cleared some: it is make up or break up time.

It sounds like a break up, which is completely fine. So, knowing how people feel sad and bothered after break ups–one of the ways to help move on is to write a settlement/ closure letter.

I think it would help to write out a brief business style letter to Siskand, and to sort of tie up loose strings, (without rehashing *any* of the specifics of disagreement) and maybe say that it is unfortunate that things did not work out, and that you hope they go on to focus and succeed in the area of women’s success and women’s rights. As such, Puma will go on to do the same–among other goals. Engaging in any further disagreements is of no benefit to either group and serves no purpose as we move forward. We are heading toward a New Year, let it be the year of Woman. Good Luck to you, and good bye.

At this point, it does not matter who was in the right or wrong, because it is a break up. Now is the time for closure and to sever any emotional concerns. Let me just comment on Bettie Paige. Women like this did nothing to liberate women or society sexually. The 50′s is the start of the Playboy myth that still survives that women’s sexuality is expressed by trying to be sexually attractive to men to win male approval and that women do not have another side of their sexuality which is the side where they sit on the chubby imperfect sweat panted bums and check out hot men. Sexist institutions like Playboy directly state that women are not sexually visual, we don’t have our own fantasies. Bullshit. I happen to know a bunch of teen girls who have been going to “Twlight” every weekend to ogle the men in it. They also consider the Harry Potter movies hunk fests. Apparently no one told them they were not visual when it came to sexuality. To this day the male controlled media establishment tries to exclusively sell the idea that sexy “women’s content” tells women how they can best fit into male sexual fantasies. They do not acknowledge that women have their own sexual fantasies that involve women being them selves and natural. So do not expect me to admire women like Paige, They did nothing but conform to male standards to gain male approval which is not impressive to me and which has caused an infection that still eats away at society.

Several aspects of this proposed rule change worry me, normapapuma. The biggest worry I have is that it’s Oweareinbigtrouble who will have this new power at his discretion. Another worrisome aspect: the wording of the rule change includes special events, and other domestic activities. What special events? What domestic activities? Why is this not being debated in Congress? Why a rule change and not a law change? Look at the birth certificate issue – the Obomination has already shown us what it thinks of complying with the rules the rest of us respect.

As PUMAbear pointed out also – Obama wants a large civilian force that can be militarized, and a military force that can become a domestic police force.

This is scary. Even in the hands of the benign & well-intended, this would be scary.

The “Nothing New Agenda” is 4 months old. Where were they when Puma Pac was battling sexism and misogyny while also trying to defeat obamatron, get the democratic party to follow its own rules and bylaws, get a floor vote at the convention, protesting election fraud, fighting mainstream media, demonstrating in Denver? Where was the Nothing New Agenda when we were doing all the heavy lifting?

They folded around the gropergate issue. Couldn’t stand up to ‘father knows best’, instead, they turned around and ate their young. They failed at defending and standing up for women, and threw someone under the bus who did exactly that, did exactly what NA claimed as their intent. Murphy stood up and defended Betty Jean, so they threw Murphy under the bus.

NA should take a long hard look at themselves and define what “all women” means. Their definition should be expressed in actions, not ‘just words’. They might also think about what “feminisim” means, and how it translates into action. I’m not invested though, I left my enthusiasm and support for NA behind weeks ago, and their recent inactions / actions reinforces my position.
