Hillary is expected to accept the position of secretary of state this morning in Chicago, along with Gen. James Jones who will be national security advisor, and Robert Gates, George Bush’s current defense secretary who will retain that role for obama.
The NYT foresees a possibly widely expanded scope of influence for Hillary if the administration is able to make good on its campaign promise to spend billions to rebuild Afghanistan, double foreign aid to $50 billion by 2012, and to vastly increase the number of civilians at State.
The idea of spending hundreds of millions of dollars sending American civilians, many of them young and idealistic, around the world to “rebuild failed states” strikes me as both laughably naive and horribly misguided.
Can you imagine Hillary trying to drum up support among recent college grads for a “civilian reserve corps”? Where is she going to send them for goodness’ sake? Mumbai? Islamabad? Kabul? Mexico City?
Can we please just let the 1960’s DIE already?
And another thing, does anyone for a second believe the SCFP and teh BOIZ will suddenly turn into cheerleaders for Clinton and her efforts? Anyone here remember Hillary’s most shameful, horrifying, despicable, revolting, and disgusting EPIC FAILURE to reform health care back in 1993? Cue Harry and Louise.

No that must of been someone else. I currently work a job in which i must complete a background check every 5 years. I can assure you this much about the clearances, 1) You must be able to account for every waking day of your life during the screening, In other words you will show every area you lived and where you came from and be able to provide names and numbers of people who knew you. This is from birth until present. Also any questionable activities, alias, as well as people questionable to government must be identified. I can assure you with him even with this spead up it would take years to get a clearance. On an average with all paperwork, names, number etc completed it takes about 1 to 1 1/2 years to get a clearance completed. Hope that helps answe questions

Airforce – thanks for the info – I know how thorough the interviews are . lol My aunt and uncle both work for the FBI and my great uncle was the President of the Academy way back when .. When my uncle first applied , I was 5 and an agent asked ME questions about him like ” Would he ever tell a lie ? etc.” !!! I am not sure who I was reading about the FBI clearance then . I just know that they don’t automatically do one for candidates .

I believe and i cannot confirm this but the reason most dont get clearance done is becuase political reasons. If oboma couldnt get a clearance that would sway some voters. I truely believe they dont do these simply becuase some people it would be to difficult to get them completed on time. This could have caused questions or concerns with voters.

See, that’s the problem with label-thinking. Considering everything in each colored box to be the same. Believer me, people within a couple of units in any direction from the origin (“0.0 – 0.0″) point have more in common with each other than with those at the far edges of the particular color they’re “in”. I think the chart would be improved if the colors were faint near the center, and got more intense towards the corners.
