There is no chance that this is a head fake, right?

From Voice of America:

U.S. President-elect Barack Obama is expected to name his former rival Hillary Clinton as his nominee for Secretary of State on Monday.

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in Harrisburg, PA, 21 Nov 2008
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in Harrisburg, PA, 21 Nov 2008

Mr. Obama will also announce other members of his national security team during a press conference in Chicago Monday morning.  He is expected to keep Robert Gates as defense secretary and name retired Marine General Jim Jones as national security advisor.

Mr. Obama and Senator Clinton competed for the Democratic presidential nomination in a long and bruising contest.

To clear the way for Clinton to serve as Mr. Obama’s top diplomat, officials say her husband - former President Bill Clinton - has agreed to disclose the names of all donors to his foundation.  Mr. Clinton is expected to reveal more than 200,000 names in order to avoid any appearance of conflict of interest.

In honor of Senator Clinton who will be dealing with the 3:00am calls after all as Secretary of State–and who is qualified to do so–I am donating $40 to PUMA PAC. (I have to send the donation via USPS however, as my credit card information has been stolen and I am waiting for a new card.)
Congratulations, Senator Clinton! Keep us strong and bring us peace.

Someone needs to record CRACKLEr on Hairball tomorrow night? I am sure it will be a doozy!

For a full week we will hear about how the man who beat Hillary is gonna give her a job. Will it work, will she undermine him, what about her husband, is she gonna run for president again. Oh and how fuckin gracious Obama is. Spare me, please.

I am ambivalent about it, Hillary is a grown woman and makes her own choices.

But I can’t stand to see the media demean her along with Obama’s silence. So get ready to download some good youtubes. You know they CANNOT help themselves!

Hi PUMAs, Been lurking off and on, waiting for PUMAs to congregate.

Have some extremely interesting news from an email I received this morning from a friend. It’s about Ford. You know the poor company that needs a bailout.

Well, seems the Detroit News ran a couple of pieces on Ford in South America. Seems the North American plant isn’t doing well, but the South American plants saw record profits in 2007. After you watch the video, click on the Special Report link on the left for more astonishing info.

These reports should be brought before the Congressional Hearings and have Ford answer to them. I also think this should be spread wide throughout the country, so the public is aware of the sham. I’ll try to find out how they are doing in South America now. It should be quite well, because their South American plants also do work for other companies. Their trying to pull the wool over our eyes. We’re suckers. If I found out how come this isn’t known throughout the MSM. Hmmmmmmmmm…..

A DEFINITE MUST READ! Here’s the Link:

http://info.detnews.com/video/index.cfm?id=1189

PS I wonder if the other two companies are doing the same thing? Hmmmmmmm…….

The poor neoprogs are concerned with Obama’s recent appointments so their going to keep pressuring him. Poor baby. He made his crib, now he has to wallow in it.

Hillary will receive the 3 AM phone call, and she can do her job, but will Obama do his job?

From the “One Percent Doctrine”:
The book’s opening anecdote tells of an unnamed CIA briefer who flew to Bush’s Texas ranch during the scary summer of 2001, amid a flurry of reports of a pending al-Qaeda attack, to call the president’s attention personally to the now-famous Aug. 6, 2001, memo titled “Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US.” Bush reportedly heard the briefer out and replied: “All right. You’ve covered your ass, now.”

Further info on my post #10 -

Did a little research and in the third quarter 2008, Ford still had a profit, not as much as 2007 but nonetheless a profit.

This from the iron horse’s mouth:

Also, this stunner:

And we should feel sorry for them? I think they’re trying to get the union to take a pay-cut for their members.

Pumas Unleashed 11.30.08 at 12:43 pm

I’m sure Obama is scared sh*less for what he about to face when he assumes his presidential role. What with the facial tic blooming under his right eye due to stress and the US facing The Great Depression II. Some saying it will be worse than the The Great Depression of 1929. Obama realises he will be expected to wave a magic wand and pull a thriving economy out of his hat and nothing less.

Having Bill Clinton to turn to when he needs a Truthteller to help him wade through these most perilous and dangerous times will be his only source of consolation.

That is IF there is anyone left living under a rock that hasn’t heard how dire these times are… I have a Primer for you to read for addressing serious issues like the signs and symptoms of denial of the coming “DEPRESSION of 2008″

Just read something really good by madamab at RD’s. This is a quote from Richard Rodriguez, gay activist and Catholic:

” I know a lot of black churches take offense when gay activists say that the gay movement is somehow analogous to the black civil rights movement. And while there is some relationship between the persecution of gays and the anti-miscegenation laws in the United States, I think the true analogy is to the women’s movement. What we represent as gays in America is an alternative to the traditional male-structured society. The possibility that we can form ourselves sexually — even form our sense of what a sex is — sets us apart from the traditional roles we were given by our fathers.”

read the rest here:

http://riverdaughter.wordpress.com/2008/11/30/churches-and-gay-marriage-why-dont-they-mix/

19

admin 11.30.08 at 1:06 pm

Although I gotta question how it is that Rodriguez believes that gay men are defining themselves outside of the “male-structured society.” what is the hierarchy of the Catholic Church but another, long-standing iteration of classic patriarchal power — as well as being a long-standing hierarchy of homosexual men?

Lesbians? yup. Women who live without men? yup. Young women who abort and postpone pregnancy, often indefinitely? yup.

But gay men? Arent they still men?

Good afternoon PUMAs. I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. I haven’t posted for a few days. My daughter came home from college for Thanksgiving. It’s been a hectic but nice weekend.

I sure hope that this is not media hype/hoax about Hillary. My husband just said that he heard on the news that they think that it is media hype and that someone else is going to be named. Boy, is that going to cause a stir.
Isn’t it ironic that Bill releases the names of his donors when BO isn’t even audited. BO wants the names of Bill’s donors so HE can use them.

In reference to the post on Iceland, I had heard about Iceland being in an uproar over the economy. Rush reported on that about a week ago.

WONDERFUL WEDDING… EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY…. GOING TO FLORIDA FOR A WEEK, SO MY NEW HUSBAND AND I ARE JUST HAVING A GREAT TIME…

OUR NEW FAMILIES MESHED BEAUTIFULLY.. AND ONLY TWO MISSED THE WEDDING PORTION….

THIS IS WHAT I READ TO MY HUSBAND AFTER I SAID “I DO” AND “I WILL”

What is Love? By Walter Rinder

Love is just not looking at each other and saying, “You’re wonderful.”
There are times when we are anything but wonderful.
Love is looking out in the same direction.
It is linking our strength to pull a common load.
It is pushing together towards the far horizons, hand in hand.
Love is knowing that when our strength falters, we can borrow the strength of someone who cares.
Love is a strange awareness that our sorrows will be shared and made lighter by sharing;
That joys will be enriched and multiplied by the joy of another.
Love is knowing someone else cares—-that we are not alone in life.

I was so upset that Hillary was not to be our nominee and then got so pissed off when John named Sarah as his running mate that I didn’t know what I would do for awhile. My family tried to convince me that the back and forth with Obama and Hillary was politics as usual and when I saw her whole heartedly campaigning for him I tended to agree with them. I felt whoever became president would have an awful job to do and if he was not successful then we’d have four years to come up with a viable candidate, maybe Hillary again. I wasn’t sure McCain and Sarah could get the job done. So I caved in and tried to take some comfort in joining Hillary in her support for Obama

I also think that once they have used the info to ‘EXPOSE’ THE CLINTONS, as they will, it will not be possible for her to take the SOS job…he has no one else who will put up with his lack of transparency or BS.

I’ve been thinking this for a long, long time…it’s just my sixth sense. I really would love to see her keep her Senate seat…THAT ONE has never kept his word….he’s up to NO GOOD…and, I don’t trust him now…

NewfiePuma - So you voted for Obama. We are really happy for you but what can we do for you here. You said you have been reading our blog - lurking - but didn’t our discussion mean anything to you. Didn’t you feel compelled to jump in to ask us questions ? Why bother to join now ? Because we can’t change your mind ? Not that we should because we all own our votes. So what do you have to offer to our Puma blog now that you have “come out of the closet” ? To tell us all about your childhood places ? This is a political blog - not a social get together warm and fuzzy place after you have so nicely stated that you voted for Obama by reason of Hillary.
We don’t need BS like this written up. Whatever your reasons, it is best you keep it as a secret that only you will need to know - the ones here that have worked our hearts out, do not need your confession because nothing will come out of it, I for one will not say it is OK. —————————————
Yes. Women form the ladies-auxiliary-worker-bee troops for the world’s male power paradigm and causes dear to the hearts of men, gay or straight. Like the army of nuns working for the (male) church.

When’s the last time we saw an army of men supporting any woman’s issue? When I see men engaged in any women’s endeavor, I see a repeat of the pattern of the male rushing to fill the “power vacuum” i.e. absence of men leading the organization and re-defining the focus. Like Rodriguez is doing for feminism, talking about the “shifting role of women in society” and how “we need to identify the relationship between feminism and homosexuality.”

I agree that homophobia is a form of sexism. I do not agree that (once again) we need men to define the problem & the solution.

I so struggle with people who think like this. I take this as a comment directed as an insult to the female gender where this is unfortunately too common when women are their own worst enemies and easily influenced by the MSM and others:

From NewFie #26 From previous thread:
“I was insulted that he picked just any woman and like so many other women, she didn’t work for me. I am pro choice, and she was too far “right” for me. It made McCain look like a panderer to me, willing to do anything to win.”

Willing to do anything to win? Who is NewFie speaking for anyway as it was the Pres ‘Select’ that was willing to do anything to win, not the McCain/Palin race.

Great , you may have had the opportunity to educate , inform and make an activist out of someone who espouses Democratic principles and made aParty vote , but no …
I think newfie was brave as hell to come on this blog -especially after lurking here and knowing how passionate we are and admit to voting for XO .
MILLIONS of people watched MSNBC and CNN and were in the same position as newfie . Yes , they voted for Xo - yes that pisses us off , but I am surpirised that Murphy would want us to chase them all away once they find that they have made a mistake ..

67

freddiebrown 11.30.08 at 1:55 pm

Why don’t we all go to all the Obot sites and ask them how they feel now about voting for Obama. Have a change of heart? Hurray - does that make us feel better ?

Don’t we have better ways to spend our energy ? Or is this just bizarre curiosity ?

So if we don’t act all warm and fuzzy with open arms, we are a lynch mob? Nice choice of words Trish of Canada! This is not about you so feel free to go put your arms around NewfiePuma. I don’t have a problem with you. I have a problem with someone coming out to say that they have been lurking for months and decided to vote for Obama and just now decide to come on board to blog and to let us know. What does that accomplish ?

68

PUMAbear 11.30.08 at 1:55 pm

The purpose of women in religion is to breed more believers. The male is the head of the family as the king is the head of a kingdom and the church is the head of all things “spiritual”. That about covers ALL spheres of influence.
These hierarchies are completely male dominated. When men take up traditionally “women’s” professions they take these over, too, and use some of the most perverse and hateful misogyny in the process. Sometimes gay men even profess to be better “women” than women and constantly belittle the “ugly” women into fitting into male fantasy objectification. Many gay men have no more idea of the oppression of women than straight men do and think women have a cushy and glamorous place in society.

Many gay men worship maleness.

All men can have power over women even if they have limited power with other men.

Females are merely adjuncts, helpers, cleaner uppers to the male power structure. I’m not so sure anything changes because the men are gay.

69

Newfiepuma 11.30.08 at 1:55 pm

computer. I don’t know which site got me, but my Win XP machine crashed and wouldn’t boot this morning. According to my

And, I’m pretty SURE there are Obots who have infiltrated this
site.Who would love nothing more than to disrupt us any way they can with their obnoxious, devilish Alinsky tactics.

I did not take your response to be about me, I was referring to your comment about th eblog not being a social place (which is not actually true, as it tends to be a mixture of work and social). My response was that I initiated the social side so there was no reason to question Newfiepuma on it.

And th elynch mob comment, yes I stand by it, NewfiePuma was told this was not the place for him/her, yet when all the repubs came here they were welcomed with open arms, they distracted the blog , they hijacked the blog! But a remorseful Bo voter is cast away , well there are going to be many remorseful Bo voters are we going to remain so inclusive that they will never be welcome?

It’s also possible Newfie is playing with us. Another statement where attempting to find a site that is working on fixing the DNC (that Newfie is claiming to be doing) may have been a focus a few months ago……There’s too much of a disconnect that would provide any indication of sincerity. Likely another bot.
*****

Asian4Hillary left for good - because she could not fathom why if our goal was to change the DNC, were we asked to vote for Democrats all across the bottom. How could we reward the DNC with a sweeping win and try to change them? If you won and someone tells you why you did wrong by winning, would that make you want to change your ways? So, NewfiePuma wants to change the DNC and that is why she voted for Obama and I bet other dems too - is that a tactic that I am hearing ? Excuse me while I go pray for enlightenment ! I do not get this kind of reasoning. I don’t care so much if anyone here voted for Obama but I refuse to award them with a medal of bravery for coming out to tell us. Enough said. Lets move on.

Murphy - I agree. We have to have semblance of steel somewhere inside us. We are not frail fragile things, bending where the wind blows. Mountainsong,

Sorry if you felt this was a negative image of WOMEN. I think it sas a lot that women stand up under the pressure of male dominance and have good lives.

But many women get the dose of dehumanizing misogyny in their own homes and it extends into all areas of their lives. I don’t happen to think either sex is superior but the female half has so much more of a battle to achieve a place in society.

88

freddiebrown 11.30.08 at 2:17 pm

now THAT’s what i’m TALKIN about! it’s possible spinotter was being sarcastic, but assuming he wasn’t — THAT is NOP engaging in debate at the level of IDEAS, EVIDENCE, and THOUGHTS — not emotions, relationships, and pleasantries. nice one.

no need to chase spinotter or newfiepuma away however — I think their comments, like Rapist’s yesterday, spark GOOD responses and thought-provoking debate. Rapist was over the line by his very username, and was banned for it, but the other two havent crossed any lines, and becoming an echo chamber is stupid, dangerous, lazy, and boring.

HP — we went to different schools together i think.

Yes there are and have been a few Republican regular commenters here, but they shared our distaste for obama, focused (mostly) on shared goals, and were often treated in a very unfriendly manner.

If newfie were still around I’d ask her HOW she intends to change the DONC or DFA or the DLC or any of them now that they are fully entrenched, their methods were successful, and their crooked, disenfranchising, fraudulent operations were REWARDED by democrats like her who voted for the obomination.

If you were “heartsick” by the caucus fraud newfie, the fraud that was the DECIDING FACTOR in obama’s stealing of the nomination, why on EARTH did you vote for him?

Did you honestly believe that sarah palin would have and use some kind of magical power to overturn Roe v Wade?? please.

When Asian left (we live in the same town) I had alot of misgivings about staying, myself. I don’t believe in quitting, but I don’t believe it’s possible to get a dead horse to stand up by kicking it, either.

I miss Asian4Hillary’s presence here (and on the talk radio PUMA shows). She is incredibly insightful and spoke with passion. Her deepest concern is that she saw a striking similarity with how Ofart campaigned and how it compared so closely with the communist country she came from. And it concerned her. She can only speak best if I am correct or not, but I gather it concerned her that it would give the Dems this type of power too, too much power - as in a fillibuster proof senate, for example - which is too, too much power. Especially when it comes to the far left radical views. The balance for ‘checks and balances’ in government is precariously skewed.
I hope I was clear in what I am attempting to say ….

For my friends, the ladies of PUMA~~~

Imagine a Woman

Imagine a woman who believes it is right and good she is a woman.
A woman who honors her experience and tells her stories.
Who refuses to carry the sins of others within her body and life.

Imagine a woman who trusts and respects herself.
A woman who listens to her needs and desires.
Who meets them with tenderness and grace.

Imagine a woman who acknowledges the past’s influence on the present.
A woman who has walked through her past.
Who has healed into the present.

Imagine a woman who authors her own life.
A woman who exerts, initiates, and moves on her own behalf.
Who refuses to surrender except to her truest self and wisest voice.

Imagine a woman who names her own gods.
A woman who imagines the divine in her image and likeness.
Who designs a personal spirituality to inform her daily life.

Imagine a woman in love with her own body.
A woman who believes her body is enough, just as it is.
Who celebrates its rhythms and cycles as an exquisite resource.

Imagine a woman who honors the body of the Goddess in her changing body.
A woman who celebrates the accumulation of her years and her wisdom.
Who refuses to use her life-energy disguising the changes in her body and life.

Imagine a woman who values the women in her life.
A woman who sits in circles of women.
Who is reminded of the truth about herself when she forgets.

Imagine yourself as this woman.

The Times-Picayune in a 3 inch itsy bitsy AP news piece(where many of the most important I do not want you, reader, to note this item are placed in this paper and others) today:
…To clear the way for his wife’s nomination, former President Clinton has agreed to disclose the names of every contributor to his foundation. He’ll also refuse contributions from foreign governments to the Clinton Global Initiative, his annual charitable conference, and will cease holding meetings oversears.

The husband of an appointee must do the above to have his wife appointed as SOS. Contrast this to the following:

Baruk the Crook, the fraud President elect, on the other hand,
has had the audit of his campaign contributions waved by the FEC, even though, we and others have determined that massive amounts of money have in fact not been given by individual doners within the law limits; morever, contributions from foreigners (30,000 of so called tee shirt money for one) have been noted …i.e. two Palestinian brothers ….
among several of Barock the Crock’s sleze ball, illegal moves within the last 11 months.

After reading your comment, I went back and reread our Mission statement. Are you saying we’re no longer focusing on reforming the political process, esp. the dem party? Here is our mission statement:

Welcome to the Puma PAC Citizens’ Action Network. We C.A.N. Do It!
WE C.A.N DO IT!
Join Puma PAC and the We Can Do It Citizens’ Action Network today!
JOIN HERE
Puma PAC, People United Means Action, is the Voice of the Voters in the Democratic Party. We are a completely grass-roots organization of regular citizens working every day of the year to make sure our elected and public officials listen to and respect the voices of individual, every day citizens all across our country.

We have no fancy lobbyists in Washington D.C. We have a small, targeted budget. We are a vast network of regular citizens who believe that government of the people, by the people, and for the people is not just a historical slogan. For Puma it is the foundational principle of a free democratic society. Our members participate in political actions every single day; from writing letters to making phone calls; from handing out flyers at shopping malls to holding signs at county fairs.

Our mission is to hold our elected officials accountable to the will of the voters, and to demand unbiased coverage from the media of all candidates, regardless of their gender.
This year the Democratic Party leadership led us astray.

Ignoring the Popular Vote in the Primaries
Disenfranchising tens of millions of Democrats in Florida and Michigan
Standing by idly as sexist attacks hobbled an accomplished and historic candidate for President
Dismissing whole states and voting blocs as “irrelevant” to an imaginary “new” coalition
Leading us to certain defeat in November — ANOTHER General Election Loss
Are you interested in becoming part of the fastest growing political movement in Democratic Party history? Our ACTIONS are simple, free, and do not require much time. Participate or not in any or all, as you choose. The Puma PAC Citzens’ Action Network is a NEW MODEL in political action. We don’t simply ask you for money and then ignore you until we want money again. We want your INDIVIDUAL VOICE. We want you to make the calls; you to write the letters; you to spread the word.

ARE YOU READY? Ready to take back your Party? Ready to become an ACTIVE American Citizen? Ready to speak DIRECTLY to the powers that be?
Sounds like fun, doesn’t it? It’s almost hard to believe that every day citizens like you and me can call up Speaker Pelosi or Chairman Dean’s office any time we want and demand that our voices be heard. But believe it. Together we have a VERY POWERFUL VOICE. Don’t ever believe that you and I, as individual citizens can’t DIRECTLY change our country for the better.

We are American citizens.

Let’s start acting like it.
Join the Resistance!

“When’s the last time we saw an army of men supporting any woman’s issue? ”
BINGO!
Last week I was listening to the Nothing New Agenda radio program, last time I ever will listen, too.

The program is only a few weeks old, and each time theyve been on the air, they make a big point of stating that their movement is open to everyone men and women.

Last week they seemed to spend an inordinate of time making the point that men were welcomeblahblahblahblah. (When women bend over backwards to welcome men, it almost sounds as if theyre apologizing to the men for women being inferior, that they understand that men are stepping down to participate with women. That women have to go out of tehir way tomake men feel comfy.)

They said they weren’t going to make the same mistakes NOW made… with no recognition of any of the major and far reaching accomplishments in their support of women’s causes in the past several decades since the inception NOW. ( = more trashing of women).

Then, the all inclusive Nothing New Agenda proceeded to trash Pelosi, “and others like her”. No analyisis of the reasons women behave in certain ways when they are part of a tiny minority surrounded by males in a male dominated male power structure.

I’t rather be in a movement of ten conscious women (STFU)than participate / support 10,000 in a group like Nothing New Agenda.

I swear, it was like 1970 all over again, and I don’t have the time to waste retracing those steps. I’ll get my feminist fix from Puma PAC’s STFU and from Sheri and Murphy’s No We Won’t blog radio show.

I personally will work to keep an open mind on those who have buyer’s remorse. And I agree that is impoartant. I guess what I was reading in NewFie’s post just didn’t seem to indicate any of that. Too much did not make enough sense.
There are many who took information only from MSM and was easily influenced are not sufficiently informed. But I am not convinced that the majority of these folks have yet found reason to change their mind. Most are also not likely paying too much attention to the specifics of Ofart’s cabinet appointee’s (except mayber HRC’s potential SOS). I hunch it won’t be until 2009 when we see the ‘OMG what I did vote for?’ come about.

Puma PAC can educate… that doesn’t mean we have to embrace the obies. And, I don’t recall ever embracing republicans here. They were here because they wanted their boy to win. Many were biting our tongues, others lurked, while waiting for Nov 5 and the departure of republicans.

#101 freddiebrown-I agree with you. We have a sixteen year old son. This past week when his friends wanted to get together (since school was out for the holiday) he told them he couldn’t. They asked him why not and he said we were getting ready for Thanksgiving. We have reared both our children (we also have a daughter) is that jobs around the house are not gender oriented. Everyone does work because everyone lives here. And each person does what he or she is capable of doing. Both of our children have been cooking for years, vacuuming, dusting, doing laundry, making their own beds, working in the yard, etc. It’s all based upon ability. All four of us cooked the Thansgiving dinner; each person doing the particular item that he or she does best.

Your Northern Neighbor,

I wasn’t sure McCain and Sarah could get the job done. So I caved in and tried to take some comfort in joining Hillary in her support for Obama.//

Because you WERE sure Omposter could get the job done?
