As you probably know, a team of Puma PAC volunteers has been poring over the obama campaign finance reports looking for glaring discrepancies. Since late last week they have found over $320,000 worth of donations that are over the $4,600 limit and many obviously bogus identities, including one from a person named E. Z., occupation Blogger.
One person in Florida donated $20,600 as an individual. Wow.
And then there’s Kathie O’Dwyer, also of Florida, who must have been experiencing Paroxysms of Obamadoration on June 11th. When the kool-aid high was all over, she woke up with $5,900 hangover. No word yet on how Ms. O’Dwyer is handling the news that Prez Select is just not that into her.

Confession time; or, the truth about MKfromLA.
A while back TrishinCanada commented on the weather up there in Iceberg Township. She said it was so cold that the penguins were flying north to get warm. I went huh? And then I went “wow, they’re flying north? Oh, I get it. They’re flying north . It was a joke.”
I’ve been thinking about that one a long time; just didn’t seem quite right on the penguin part. I do trust my fellow PUMAs and I did grow up in Arizona, and I never watch those animal shows because someone is always having someone else for dinner. It was just bugging me though, so I asked another PUMA that I trust – can penguins really fly?
Now this morning I read TexasTigress’ helpful post for people like her and me who are not cooks. “Yes!” I said to myself. “I will get up early tomorrow & get the turkey in the oven and it will be cooking when she wakes up and she will be so pleased she didn’t have to do all the cooking”. So I kept reading because of the deep trust I have in Texas Tigress – she is after all my esteemed fellow PUMA.
Have mercy.
BBL, off to commune with my computer who knows & understands me.

Henrie: My input from downstairs:
Hi Henrie:
I finally understand you and your thinking. I’ve always felt this way: (hope I can explain it better)——For all the MILLIONS of people without healthcare: If we had a conglomeration of Insurance Co. opening up insurance for all 300 million of US, with each of us contributing some (affordable some)—-where do they LOOSE money>
Like we pay for our federal taxes: we pay for QUALITY health insurance with each paycheck, going directly to the entity made responsible for giving AFFORDABLE, QUALITY HEALTH CARE to ALL OF US.
Keep the MEDICARE in place. To me it’s a simple fix, but there is so MUCH Corruption, they make it untouchable.
I pretty sure this is Hillary’s plan, but they make it so technical sometimes, you cannot understand it.

Sorry Henrie: Not sure if I’m clear (after I reread)
but the “right” idea is in there somewhere.
ONe problem with this is: WE ALL NEED TO BE WORKING to make this happen (most of us anyway)———–

wbd – Re-post from the “cottage”
I yahooed (no more google) Talley’s case and found this out:
“The insurance company involved in this case apparently feels there should be no policy benefits for this single mother’s only child because she died as the result of a hate crime. The two had never met before. The victim was a black woman and the suspect is a white man. But the insurance company insists that legally this is a gray area.
Workers compensation death benefits can be denied if there is a personal connection between the attacker and the victim, meaning, the crime is not related to employment. The insurance company for Dollar Tree Stores, Specialty Risk Services, says a hate crime also makes the crime personal, not workplace related and therefore not subject to compensation.
The case of Taneka Talley is important. Former Chief Judge In the State Division of Worker’s Compensation, Steven Siemers, thinks this would be the first case where a hate crime, in and of itself, established a personal connection. And he is concerned about what it means for greater policy implications if there’s no worker’s compensation for any victims of hate crimes. Ms. Frazier is struggling with more basic questions about the grandson she loves, but never expected to be raising.
“I have to buy clothes every six months because he keeps growing. It’s very hard for me. It’s just outrageous,” said Carol Frazier.
The insurance company is reportedly offering about $5,000, while the attorney for the family wants closer to $400,000. The two sides have a couple more meetings scheduled before there would be a trial. The man charged with killing Taneka Talley has been declared mentally competent to stand trial.”
Dollar Tree says they’re not commenting while there is an investigation ongoing.

Here’ my other re-post:
While we’re waiting. I was on salon.com to see what they were up to. Joan Walsh is still drinking the Obama Koolaid, but little doubts have been creeping into her writings. She writes:
“But he(Obama) then went on say that “it’s important we enter into the administration with a sense of humility, and recognize that wisdom isn’t the monopoly of any one party.” I’m sure he’s right; it just doesn’t feel that way right now. As Obama speaks to the other party with respect and diplomacy, I desperately want him to remember that he’ll never have a window like this one to make big economic and political change. There’s actually a bipartisan consensus behind a big domestic stimulus package; next week we’ll be asking experts what it should do. It’s fine for Obama to talk nicely to conservatives; I just frankly hope he’s listening mostly to liberals as he shapes his economic plan.”
Sounds to me like O is in over his head and wants experience to shelter him.
Never was published as editor of the Law Review and writes two books. Yeah, right.
Failed as Chair of the Annenberg Challenge.
Had someone show him how to vote on issues in his LAST year in the state senate in order to “look good” in his run for the US Senate.

You are right about your assertion all must be working. I believe this election was all about those expecting something for nothing. People were sold a book of goods about having themselves taken care of without working. We just have to many people not wanting to pull their fare share. That is the problem with the idea of socialsim and communism, people dont have to earn anything.

Obama had a press conference this morning to announce the formation of an economic recovery advisory board led by Paul Volker and Austin Goolsby (now why do I know that name?). And everyone on the stage was wearing black suits again – why am I the only one commenting on this wierd symbol of BOs. A reporter asked BO a complex question about why does he keep appointing old names when he promised change? Obama made a snide remark back about how many questions he was allowed to ask, then went on to say in essence that old is new, blah, blah, blah and then ended the press conference.

BOYCOTT OF DOLLAR TREE STORES:
I also encourage everyone to boycott purchasing at Dollar Tree Stores, if you have one in your area.
(The woman was killed in a random act of violence while working – but her young was son denied her employee death benefits.
They denied on the basis that it was “personally motivated” – the assailant (white male) targeted the employee solely because of her race (black female)
The company applied a disclaimer that was originally intended for acts of “family member violence committed while an employee is on the job.” However, it has now apparently been expanded to cover denial of benefits for “Hate Crimes”.
This, in itself, is discriminatory, I think, on several fronts – Race, Gender and Sexual Orientation.
The majority of employees assaulted on the job by a family member or known assailant ARE WOMEN!
NewOrleansPuma 11.26.08 at 12:53 pm
Why not Bill in the Senate? I think it would be hilariously appropriate…at least msm may be less inclined to say Bill will really be calling shots if Hillary is SOS..Maybe they will have to say….and Hillary is calling the shots in the Senate seat. I am being faceitious…because msm will say whatever they want…but there is precedent for appts of husbands or wives to finish terms…I know..usually after deaths or incapacitations, but clearly precedent this election cycle does not mean anything to anyone to whom it should mean something…so ? I hope she does precisely what is in her own best interests and the State of NY.

DOLLAR TREE STORE COMPLAINT:
Copy the following letter – change it however you wish, and go to
http://www.dollartree.com/comment.cfm
and paste it into comments addressed to:
Macon F. Brock, Jr., Chairman
Dollar Tree Stores
Dear Mr. Brock:
Please be advised that I am participating in a protest of your Corporation, including a boycott of your stores, nationwide.
The position of your company in denying Death Benefits to a slain employee, Taneka Talley, is not only appalling, but a slap in the face to women all over the world.
Your primary customers are women. Apparently your company is unaware that your “primary customers” are subjected to random acts of violence – not unlike that which caused the death of Taneka Talley, every few seconds.
Like your Benefits Department’s determination that it was “personal”, although she had no connection to her white assailant – other than his hatred for her race, I take your company’s position personally. My only connection to the victim is gender – and the knowledge that violence against women is largely viewed similar to your company’s position: Take no responsibility, blame the victim and go on with business as usual.
Your company’s failure to seize an opportunity to do the right thing by not only honoring Taneka Talley’s Death Benefits, but taking a strong position against not only Hate Crimes, but Hate Crimes Against Women, says a lot about your company.
My “interpretation” of your company’s decision on the Taneka Talley death benefit is this:
Dollar Tree Stores should be denied ANY woman’s patronage.
My decision:
I intend to tell as many women in this country, through use of the world-wide web, to boycott your stores in honor of Taneka Talley. I am seizing the opportunity to speak out against all violence against women – which now includes the violence committed by your company of denying a victim of employment-related random violence death benefits to her survivor – her son.

Either me, or FOX is living on a different planet. FOX says that most Americans are weary of ME news,Afganistan and Iraq war, etc. and do not support military action against Iran.
Me and just about everyone I know say let’s get the damn job done while we are already there, and not have to go back again. We have the technological superiority to launch a smart missle and knock out their entire operation at Naranf. The plan is to cut off their gasoline supplies now since Iran has no refining capacity. But Russia does.
I think it will happen.
33years ago I had a very vivid vision, in which I was told I would llive long enough to see the end of life as I have always known it.
The night before last I had a dream telling me that time is here. And for me to prepare. And it makes sense.
Recent news says the fed is planning to inject *)) billion into the finance system to induce new credit markets and resume lending.
That’s EXACTLY what got us in this mess to begin with. We are the greatest debtor nation on earth. The rest of the world pays cash and gets their obligations met on time. Some of us citizens do too. But our country does not. Hence, the country I grew up in no longer exists. We are owned by China and the Middle East and are beginning to fracture. Any sense of Unity is gone. And borrowing, infusing, etc is NOT EVER going to fix anything. These ARE America’s last days.

43Michelina: Insurance companies pay claims using the INTERST they have collected on the premiums they have collected from those insured….This, if all facts so far reported are accurate, the Insurance company’s rejection, classic sounding indeed, will go on until and unless they are forced by suit to pay and by that time more interest will have accrued on all their premiums to pay what they will settle for. This is why insurance companies delay on larger claims…It happend for example many thousand times and still is re insurance for Katrina coverage and it happens as well with personal injury.

For all the MILLIONS of people without healthcare
—————————————
We all have healthcare, even illegal aliens. Many do not have health insurance. Some choose not to for many reasons. I did not have health insurance until 5 years ago. For 16 years prior to that, I put $15,000 a year into an account instead of paying that to an insurance company. Only used about $10,000 for my medical needs during that time, so the rest of the money is mine. I understand that not all people can do that, but there are many who can afford catastrophic health insurance and don’t even get that.
If there is National Health care, I do hope that there is an option for those who want private insurance so they can go to private hospitals and get medical treatment that is not dictated by some unknown in the government. I don’t think Canada allows for private insurance.
Below is an interesting article that scares me. I know many people who are living productive healthy lives because of the “latest technology.”
Daschle-Obama Health Care Possibilities
by Tony Blankley
One of the things that Daschle says will have to change is the “technology arms race” he claims hospitals are engaging in “to attract aging baby boomers with the latest diagnostic imaging machines.” Imagine that, offering customers the latest technology, which, as Daschle admits on Page 125, “help(s) doctors estimate the spread of cancer or the extent of cardiac disease without surgery.”
Of course, for Daschle, the problem with such high-tech diagnostics is that it leads to treatment. On pages 123-124, he cites a study approvingly for the proposition that there are too many angiograms being performed. By too many, he specifically cites a study of 828 angioplasties in which only a third were likely to benefit the patients. Another half might or might not, and 14 percent were not likely. Now I might conclude that if 85 percent of the patients receiving the treatment might benefit (the one-third who definitely would and the 50 percent who might) and if I were one of them, I might want the procedure. But for Daschle, that would be a waste of money, and “the imaging test that shows narrowing of the arteries was to blame (for the excessive treatment).” Continued…

AT LEAST when I was YOUNG, they had gov. run CLINICS if you were SICK, there was a nominal FEE, but you were TAKEN CARE OF: you didn’t amass thousands of dollars of debt, before you graduated from college for MEDICAL CARE: Believe me, it’s happening and it shouldn’t be.
THEY have no options: Hillary Knows this, THEY ALL WORK, but they cannot afford insurance: MOST of US CANNOT.
As far as ILLEGALS: Sorry I draw the line: Their own country should be taking care of them, not us: I know it sounds cruel, but I’m sorrry: Why is MEXICO so DAMNED POOR !!!!—it’s not America’s fault: ANd DAMMIT, we are there when countries need us, but if we don’t RULE THEM, why are we taking care of them.

as usual, great research team regarding the post! Thank you for all of your hard work!
On a side note, we could not get into pumapac today nor our pumaliberty. They were down for over the two hours while I tried to log into them. Who knows how much longer before that.
This morning I woke up with urgency to organize on the ground locally. We are doing that, we had our first meeting last week with another on the horizon. The internet is a great tool that we should all use but we should find a way to operate without it if need be. If pumapac suddenly disappear one day… heaven forbid. Hey, youse…
How about posting the recipes in the “tin foil” forum? That way, anyone can retrieve them without the actioncenter email exchange,
(DancesWithEmails), it’ll also make it easier to collect recipes for the survival cookbook, and, my best guess is, the Tin Foil section isn’t being used heavily (’cause all of us proud tinfoilers seem to post right here!).

Just a note..
Two days after the election a news report mentioned:
“The usual audits of campaign donations following an election has been waived for Pres-Elect Barack Obama. As for John McCain’s audit, it will be two years before it is completed.”
I kid you not… Fox news may be interested in the findings to date.. but that is exactly what the news declared election week.

I’d be happy to help with the research on obie donation fraud…the reason I stopped was because it came up that anyone donating over 4600 per couple could roll the rest over to a future campaign and I thought that made extra bucks something that couldn’t contested legally.
Any update on the facts of this situation and if all is still a go, what states have been covered and I will pick one that isn’t being worked on. How’s about California, I would enjoy doing my freakin’ obot state.

No doubt this is another example of the pushing away of our rights under the Bush so called saving the country from terroists, but this is very dangerous, especially considering the regime now coming in. Please everyone when you can go to this site and read the summaries of the issues. It does not take long to do.
And needs to be in our collective awareness as we move along, I think. Thank you tennesse PUMA!

Perhaps Michelina, the U.S. government will have taken note of the errors and adjustments made from/by the birth of the Canadian Health Care System and they will avoid those errors and the transition will be much smoother, because they have studied the Canadian System extensively.

Obama likely to escape campaign audit
he Federal Election Commission is unlikely to conduct a potentially embarrassing audit of how Barack Obama raised and spent his presidential campaign’s record-shattering windfall, despite allegations of questionable donations and accounting that had the McCain campaign crying foul.
Adding insult to injury for Republicans: The FEC is obligated to complete a rigorous audit of McCain’s campaign coffers, which will take months, if not years, and cost McCain millions of dollars to defend.
Obama is expected to escape that level of scrutiny mostly because he declined an $84 million public grant for his campaign that automatically triggers an audit and because the sheer volume of cash he raised and spent minimizes the significance of his errors. Another factor: The FEC, which would have to vote to launch an audit, is prone to deadlocking on issues that inordinately impact one party or the other – like approving a messy and high-profile probe of a sitting president.

My ex-husband who has duel citizenship, driving back and forth for fourty years, needs a passport, and THe PAPERWORK you need is UN-BELIEVABLE: Birth certificate doesn’t do it:
You needs records from your parents, where they lived, what schools they went to: medical records, birth certificate, baptisimal etc………
And to think we elected a pres. that doesn’t have to do this—-AMAZING AMERICANS !!!

#69 tennaseepuma, please tell NOP thanks for that link and also mention I wanted to tell him/her (sorry, if I knew NOP’s gender, I’ve forgotten) that I’d been reading up and learned what s/he meant by “Jeffersonian.” I’m afraid if I wait till after Thanksgiving, I will forget to mention this.
I don’t think PUMAs should concentrate on these issues, but we definitely should share and be aware of them! And hopefully be motivated to work on them with groups dedicated to trying to make sure more of our Constitutional rights aren’t eroded.
I wasn’t aware of this particular erosion, so it’s good to know. We’ve already had to be corralled in “free speech zones” during protests —as if the entire U.S. is not supposed to be a free speech zone.
And Washington D.C. proper seems to be ground zero for testing out these erosions of our rights. eg, sidewalks are supposed to be public property. Even when hotels or other private businesses tell you that they “own” the sidewalk in front of their establishment, it’s only supposed to be 2/3s of the sidewalk, and the third of the sidewalk nearest to the street is public. D.C. did away with that…essentially allowing them to stop peacable protest. They took our public walkways.
In D.C. they also have some new law essentially reinstating prohibition. Zero tolerance for drinking alcohol and driving, regardless of impairment or blood level. An attorney recently was arrested and has been speaking about this. They stop you for something else, even a taillight out, ask you and if you say you’d had a glass of wine with dinner, it’s all over. You’re arrested. I’ve not had time to read up more on that one, but coupled with the unconstitutional roadblocks they set up, it’s all about control and criminalizing our population.
Coupled with Obama’s plan for a citizen army, we’ll all end up either “authorities” or “criminals.”
Another thing they’ve done in D.C. is put up surveillance cameras everywhere…so you could possibly be arrested simply for putting up posters. It’s like something out of that tv series “The Prisoner.” If you haven’t seen that, rent some..!!!
Some pursuit of happiness, some right to privacy, some right to assemble and protest, some right not to be detained and deprived of liberty and property. They come first for the smokers, the “drunks,” the loud, angry protesters (“anarchists”), the foreigners (“terrorists” or “illegal immigrants”) … with the media cheerleading the effort.
And we’re all too busy with daily life to do anything…speaking of which…must go brave the grocery store!

“The laws were changed in 2004, because insurance companies were able to convince Governor Schwarzenegger and the legislators that they needed to reduce the costs of doing business in California…
Maybe the state of California should reconsider its Workers Comp laws. Maybe they could start looking after people instead of business.

You must remember Michelina, these border regulations is what the U.S. government in talks with the Canadian government demanded happen at all Canadian border crossing.
Because terrorists were living in Canada and had easy border crossing coming and going, thus the two countries had to secure the borders.

Also I keep my passport current because I have great hopes of travelig the world one of these years.

Just got back into the office, and I see many things are going on at once. Awesome work on the Campaign Finance Audit! We knew as much, and it looks like Obama didn’t even try very hard to hide it!
As for the health care situation: Most people in this country are either uninsured or underinsured. The one industry that makes the most off of sick people is the insurance industry, with the drug companies close behind.
It is estimated by some that the insurance industry gets at least .30 of every health care dollar spent. That means that our care costs us 30% right off the top for these people to allocate our money for us. The other issue is that the health care providers spend a good deal of money processing paperwork. This costs us at least another .10 of our health care dollar.
The cost of health insurance to a small company is growing daily. Small companies have had to choose between wages and health care bennefits as compensation. Some companies cannot meet their contractual obligations to their employees because the rates are so high. A lawyer friend tells me that he has numerous cases in his files where companies failed to pay their health insurance premiums and employees got stuck with bills they should not have owed. In a number of these cases, the companies are in bankruptcy.
Indiana, where I live, has been beset by reports of unnecessary surgery and treatment by for profit medical facilities. It seems that every gimmic in the book is being engaged to get as much of that medical treatment dollar as possible into the pockets of some very unscrupulous people. This is because the facilites and doctors charge on a pay per service model. The more services they render, the more they make. After a long investigation, one local heart surgery facility was discovered to have performed unnecessary heart bypass surgeries more than 44% of the time. In one year, they had performed about 800 operations that were not needed. Interestingly enough, all of those patients had insurance that would foot the bill.
Now The Big Three are experiencing the same woes as the little guy. It is time we all look at this rationally and cure the cause, not just treat the symptoms.
What we need is a civilian medical corp. It needs to be set up and administered in a similar way as the military medical corps. In that program, they train their own doctors, who then work on salary which is rank based. All their supplies are bought through the federal bid system, which cuts costs by as much as 60% over retail. The only ‘paper’ they process is medical records.
A civilian medical corp, funded by fees deducted from payroll would solve many of our problems. There would be no claims to file, there would be no middle men, there would be no need to pad the bills or the surgery schedule because the medical staff would all be on salary. All drugs and other supplies would be purchased wholesale through government bids, making it possible to have much lower costs than we now have. And the big bonus is that everyone would be covered.
How much we would save is not clear, but the potential for savings would be there. If we took all the current insurance costs and applied them to financing this kind of program, we could save at least 40%, and long term, probably more. This would relieve the employer of having to constantly be renegoiating the cost of medical care. It would streamline the system so that a simple payroll deduction similar to Social Security would be all that was necessary.

SCARLETT: I read DAESCHLE’S ideas on the Health Care;
Not sure I like it or have that in mind: I DO NOT WANT GOV. REGUALATING our CHOICES or our DR’S etc……..
I want the people funding it: and the GOV regulating the FINANCIAL end of things WITH THE OVER SEER GROUP, (NOT POLITICIANS, or INSIDERS)———My idea was GOV RUN CLINICS ETC,,,,,AVAILABLE for QUALITY CARE,on a WALK-IN or Appointment base:
instead of the EMERGENCY ROOMS, ambulances etc………Alot of this can come from the LOCAL LEVELS / STATE / not all of it FEDERALLY RUN.
If others choose to continue their care as they always have, with their doctor, that should be there also:
As I said earlier: OUR CHILDREN HAVE NO CHOICES: EMERGENCY ROOM
I don’t like Daeschle’s ideas, and I don’t like he Parallel’s them to Hillary’s——-I never got the impression of the GOV TAKING OVER when she spoke about it.
