The Three Musketeers?

by murphy on November 22, 2008

in Hillary Clinton

Not sure I buy this three-for-the-price-of-one presidency theory from Tom in Paine, but it makes about as much sense as anything else these days. However it eventually turns out, obama is already the Incredible Shrinking President. With each appointment he makes he loses stature. Did you know that Hillary’s code name as First Lady was Lola? Me neither, but I like it!

“It is unlikely Clinton would have agreed to take the job if she had any substantial differences with Obama over foreign policy. So it is very likely that Obama’s foreign policy will have more of a Clinton stamp than an Obama one since there is no way she would have agreed to carry out a foreign policy she didn’t agree with.

The odd man out is Bill Richardson who, to believe James Carville, double crossed Clinton at the last minute by supporting Obama, probably in hopes of getting this job which he wanted really really really badly. Richardson’s twenty peices of silver.

Politics being what it is, it wouldn’t surprise me if Clinton chose State partly to screw Richardson out of the job he coveted. Its also the second most important and visible job in any administration.

–snip–

Clinton as Secretary of State says a lot of things. First it says what was apparent back in June when Obama asked for that meeting — that she was the one in the drivers seat calling the shots and told him what it would take to get her support. Obviously he made the deal. And now the IOU is being paid. Second, it shows that Obama knows he is in over his head and will have to surround himself with the best people he can find, and since he is going to have his hands full with a collapsing economy he obviously needed someone at State that had the visibility and impact to carry out foreign policy with almost the same authority as the President himself. So its’ unlikely we are going to hear any more from the press about Clinton’s trip to Bosnia as First Lady.

One other thing. With Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, it now seems certain that an unofficial economic advisor named Bill can’t be far behind.”

Sigh. It all seems so frickin manufactured, no? Like a televised version of a hologram. Is the obama presidency really as much of a joke as it seems like it’s turning into? Boy oh boy, what I wouldn’t give for something actually historically out of the ordinary to happen. Not talking about bombs or economic disasters or anything. But wouldn’t it be great if someone in Washington took their shoe off and started banging it on the table?

Great Picture of Hillary.

What will she look like when she is picked as President. Hard to be more happy then this.

I still think this was a done deal way back at the convention. It really pisses me off that throughout the whole primary season and general election, how the “Clinton” era was so badmouthed. He did nothing but trash talk Bill and Hillary. yet….Oyouaresuchafkingfraud’s whole cabinet is nothing but Clinton people.
You, sir, are no Bill Clinton.

Hillary will have incredible power and Obama will pose for the Presidential portrait. He will be in so over his head, that they will be delivering cigarettes by the tractortrailer full to the WH. Any cabinet secretary that says, don’t worry dear I can take care of that, will have all the power they want. I, however, still wanted her to pose for the presidential portrait.

Good Morning –

Here is the plan as I hope to see it.

BO becomes Pres.
After a few months, is found ineligable, has to step down.

Biden becomes Pres. – Picks Hillary as VP.

Biden resigns – illness.

Hillary becomes President.

How bout that!!

In my web-surfing this morning I found this interesting article about the GOP in a NC county filing a recount due to voter fraud. Obama and McCain votes in NC are close. In NC they had one-stop early voting (register and vote without photo ID). Here’s the link:

I was in grade school when JFK was shot. I was just coming in, and getting my stuff out of my locker when a couple classmates came up to tell me that “the president was shot!” Well, back then I was a bit of a Civil War buff, and had just finished reading one of my many books about Lincoln, and immediately thought they were talking about Lincoln. It didn’t dawn on me that it was our CURRENT president who had been shot until I got into the classroom and saw everyone so still and quiet. All classes were suspended and they played on-going radio broadcasts (this was before the day of the internet, and tv’s only had 2 channels here, and were in black and white, no color). When they announced he was dead they played the national anthem on the radio and everyone was sobbing in the classroom. I remember when Oswald was shot we were in church. Dad left to go home to get something, and when he came back in he leaned over to whisper that Oswald had been shot. They replayed the tape of that over and over and over the next few days too…. In a way that week was a lot like what this country felt like and went through at 9/11. The same kinds of horror, shock, mourning, and unbelief.

Oh Yes! What a Day, what a week, what a time!!!

I was working for the head counsel for a major corp in NYC. The usual lunch group arrived at the ‘Ptomane (sp) Cafe’ on 59th and Park, when we heard the waitress scream. We all gathered to see what had happened and then scattered back to the office to watch Walter Cronkite in one of the conference rooms.

My boss was in Dallas that fateful morning at a major conference. He was a friend of the NYC mayor and was heading to DC. He called, crying, to tell me to stay home and what his plans were. He was a closet Democrat, as you can imagine. Young and dynamic just like JFK.

I stayed home crying and watching the TV for the next however many days.

Too bad John-John is gone. I wonder what would have become of him. I was living on MV the day/night his plane came down.

I am sad all over again and hope that Caroline isn’t caught up in the horrors that THAT ONE is involved with.

AMEN –

Yep Murphy! Finishing up something.

Murphy:

Yesterday I spoke with both of my Directors (Of our non-profit Org regarding Sexual Abuse)

I will be emailing you this evening to provide some information on how powerful we see this issue can be.

One of my Director’s is male – I wish you could have heard his reaction to the issue. It was profound! We have worked with one another on issues of Sexual Abuse for several years. By the end of our hour-long conversation, we were both moved beyond belief as to what had just occurred in our discussion.

It was beautiful – at first he was very offended (by the mere thought of reversing the focus onto MEN. But then, the paradigm shift came – relatively quickly. It was amazing to be a part of his journey through that moment. We talked through centuries – even primal stuff.

The other came here to read the thread and was super-charged over the possibilities.

It’s all good!

Texas Tigress #11 – When I saw today’s date at 5:30 am this morning the first thing I thought of was that date. I remember it well.

I was at work and a co-worker had his radio on and told me he just heard JFK was shot. We told him not to joke like that. He said I’m not. The look on his face told me he wasn’t joking. The whole office gathered around the radio. Our world had stopped. Then we got word JFK had died. We were stunned, then started crying. It seemed like the whole country cried. Right now as I’m typing this, I’m starting to cry again. The country loved him. It felt like someone in the family had died.

I saw him three times in person. Twice when he was running for President (I climbed 18 flights in a hotel because the elevator was full) and the next day he drove by my school (I was 17 and a Young Citizen for Kennedy) I was 5 feet away from him. He was not only experienced, brilliant and a war hero, he was also gorgeous. Much, much better looking in person. He looked like a movie star.

The last time I saw him was a month before he was killed. He drove past our main street on his way to “the” hotel to campaign for some candidates. He was in a convertible, 3 feet away from my mother and I. My mother waved and said “Hiya.” He mimicked back to her “Hiya!”

If he had lived, I believe there would have been no full-blown Vietnam War. At the time he died, we did have troops over there, but it wasn’t a full-scale war yet. I believe he would have seen it was useless and pulled the troops out before it escalated.

JFK was a big man and wasn’t afraid to admit when he was wrong. What a loss. What might have been. May he rest in peace.

Thanks for the low down on Dick Morris-always wondered why he turned on her.
My Republican husband thinks she’s just doing her duty on behest of the Pres-Elect. I told him I DON’T THINK SO! She could have telegraphed or told him privately she wasn’t interested in it. She wants it for a reason, she probably wants to get ahead of the Judas’s in the Congress. SHE can also resign of her own free will if he ticks her off. (I’d love that, btw.) I’m just afraid of how far she’ll go to support his reckless foreign policy. She went further than anyone could imagine in supporting his campaign! Holy h—!
Wait and see? No,I’m looking around for another option to stand up to Obambi, as someone called him here.

Kennedy:

I was walking in line to on the blacktop of the schoolyard, going to the gymnasium. Looked over and saw our gym teacher, her face pressed to gym wall, crying uncontrollably.

The line of older kids coming out of the gym were whispering the news to us as they were passing by our line that “President Kennedy had been killed and that we were all going to be sent home to be with our families.”

(I was also watching the television the moment Oswald was shot with several adults – who all jumped up and shouted “Someone shot him!” They shot him!”)

I hated both of those days – I now think they pretty much ended my interest in television, for the most part. It’s why I have never had cable – “BREAKING NEWS” is always really “BREAKING SOME REALLY BAD NEWS!” :(

Murphy,
I ‘ve been traveling on business and just now have a chance to check in here. This current post is terrific, particularly the reference to Kruschev’s shoe-banging. I myself don’t see the situation with regard to the SoS position exactly as Marc at Tom in Paine does (I have two posts up about how I see it. I see it as more about gender (surprise, surprised) and how atrophied the Senate is.

I’m delighted to see that you have set a fundraising goal – I bet PUMApac has some debt to discharge given the costs related to Denver, and you were so generous in sending donors to Democrats for Principle Before Party/The Denver Group – so I will be contributing as soon as I submit this and I will be encouraging others to do so too. If there is no debt, then at least we are creating seed money for your next steps.

Because I think my name takes people to the old home of Heidi Li’s Potpourri, here is a link to where the two posts I mentioned above can be found. They are the two most recent entries.

It is very difficult to read through tears and the reading of many of these posts just brings on another flow of tears.

I was very much alive at the time, living in Landover Hills, Maryland a short distance from the Capital and having a blast visiting the Senate whenever I was able.
I was in my homeroom looking at pictures of Kennedy that I had taken on November 11th in the Memorial Building before the laying of the wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldiers. I then went to teach my 1st English class of the afternoon, when over the loud speaker came the news that Kennedy had been shot. I was in my next Engglish class when it was announced that President Kennedy had died. The whole school began to pray the Rosary and because I was sobbing uncontrollably I left my classroom and walked up the hill a very short distance from school to my home.
For 3 whole days I cried and had the worst attack of hives of my life. I also had my first and only attack of asthma.
People even committed suicide. So for all of you who were not alive, you can now appreciate how much John F. Kennedy was revered and loved.

I was 20 years old, living in a hotel in Hollywood. When I got up and went downstairs, the entire lobby was packed with people and the silence was eerie. Everyone was glued to the TV. Out on the street was complete silence. The only time I know of that Tinseltown had no cars or people on the street. Just silence. The sadness in the air was palpable and soon all we heard was keening and wailing. Something had happened in the world that just shouldn’t have. Like now.
Back then we witnessed the murder of a president. Now we are witnessing the murder of the whole country.
What a price to pay for a “black” president. And one that’s a sheer idiot to boot.

Eventually, I hope to help Murphy develop the financial foundation for bigger Puma projects – I can’t fund the initiatives alone, but I vowed that I would use the fundraising skills and resources I learned from this election cycle to support work toward resolution of the misogyny/sexism and corruption of political process that we witnessed.

Yes, that’s true. A friend in Hollywood tried to commit suicide and was almost successful. About a week or so out of the hospital, his 2nd attempt succeeded. He just didn’t want to live in a world where such things happened. I felt almost the same way when BO was stealing the nomination.

I can still remember what I was doing when JFK was assassinated. I was sitting in my eighth grade classroom and the announcement came over the speaker that John Kennedy was dead.

The nun started crying as did most of the class. We all put our heads down on our desks.

Which reminds me also that every Friday at noon we were asked to do the “nuclear war drill”. When the siren sounded all of us ducked under our desks and put our hands over our heads.

It is no wonder that all of us growing up in the fifties and sixties do not have constant PTSD.

CORNWALLIS, Nova Scotia (Reuters) – The Pentagon is considering a plan to send more than 20,000 troops to Afghanistan over the next 12 to 18 months to help safeguard elections and quell rising Taliban violence, officials said on Friday.
—————————
Too bad it didn’t occur to them to have troops safeguard US primaries and the presidential election.
As Richie Havens stated (paraphrasing): Truth, Justice, and the American way. It’s phrased that way because Truth and Justice, are separate from “the American way”.”

Will never forget November 22.

I was at school, first grade, and they sent us home. I remember the walk home. It was raining which always meant a death to me in those days (my dogs, I had had two by then, had died on raining days). When I got home I saw my mother crying. I had never seen her cry before. It was at that moment I became interested in politics and doing what ever I could to not have her cry again. For the next ten years politics was hell. The end of my youth came with Nixon’s election. That’s when I knew we were really in hell and he was the great Satan leader. And really it has not gotten any better, just more transparent.

114

NewOrleansPuma 11.22.08 at 12:32 pm

Regarding Nov. 22, 1963: I was 17 years old, a freshman in college at the University of Dallas, a Catholic liberal arts University in Irving, right outside the city of Dallas.
I was about to go to a class and someone said to turn on the TV..there sitting on the floor with others looking up at the TV, I heard what had happened..and with all others of course begin to cry and to pray..for him…Then Walter Conkrite came on and Istll see him taking off his glasses and saying that JFK was dead and noting the time on the clock. From that moment through the next was it who knows a week or more I never left the tv except to go to the bathroom and to make some kind of weird something to eat..a piece of bread and whatever as did so many of us…We did not sleep for days..numbness, grief, trauma, and no sleep mixed with the horrific pain within and among all bound together all of us as it did every person in this country.
My parents and some relatives had had plans to visit me for Thanksgiving, which was not that far away. I called..and of course they were in the same condition we all were..
I remember drinking non stop glasses of instant iced tea, which I hated…the instant kind, but it was quick…and so that also wired me more or whatever…it did…
I still feel on this day every year the deep abiding pain of having this lovely, brillant, flawed but I believe, essentialy good leader taken from us, from me…and know that of the three remainging then, he was, ever was the best of them. May he, ever be remembered in the best of hearts by story and telling and to all who read this here or elsewwhere, never ever mistake the real human heroic heart for the fascade, the imitation, the fake, the empty..Never, ever mistake what is before us in ths country as the President elect as having a miniscule resembleance to that heoroic soul.
Alynsky was no Kennedy. And neither is his minion, Ojingo.

Oh yeah, The obots that I know are furious with these appts.. Remember, BO trashed the Clintons and now can’t do a thing without them. They feel betrayed, believe me this is only the beginning.

117

mountainsong 11.22.08 at 12:36 pm

KarenWI 11.22.08 at 12:19 pm

The Obots are upset because, just before the election, BO was promising everyone another stimulus check. So most of them, or at least the ones that voted just the top line, were expecting immediate relief. Not a bunch of clinton appointments. I think they are just beginning to figure it out~~that Oprah and BO don’t give a rat’s ass about them.

118

Heneri 11.22.08 at 12:37 pm

I was in 4th grade when Kennedy was killed. The principal came and took Mrs. Powell, my teacher, outside and talked to her in the hallway. She came in, stood for a few minutes in front of the class with a strange look on her face. Then she said in a voice that sounded really strange “President Kennedy has been killed.” Then she sat down at her desk and stared blankly at us for a while. Thinking back, the whole class just sat there stunned, and quiet. It wasn’t long before the busses started arriving to take us home. They had cancelled school for the rest of the day.

For months we all talked about it. People compared him to Lincoln. The new president, Johnson, rose to the occasion over and over again as the days wore on.

I know now that Kennedy was the president of my parent’s dreams. He was young and vibrant with children just like them. He was a WWII vet just like my dad. He was one of them and theirs. The new era was stopped in its infancy, and an older man became president. He constantly paid homage to Kennedy.

I found out years later that Johnson and Kennedy had some really contentious differences. Kennedy was in favor of civil rights reform, a little. But Johnson was the real reformer. I wonder now if the reforms Johnson pushed would have taken place had Kennedy remained alive. The era would have probably been a lot less intense in the measures to give everyone an education, to feed the hungry and house the poor. Kennedy was a great speaker, and was something of a reformer, but Johnson delivered a new beginning in many things, oft times calling upon Kennedy’s name to get them passed.

It is strange how the focus of things change once time has gone by.

My AA friends see BO as the drug and the kool-aid as the drug of choice for these lost souls. Some of my so-called co-workers believe that the fact that I am worried about a Nobama administration and the effects it will have on Israel and Middle East is silly. Everyone knows that it “is in America’s best interests to be allied with Israel”.

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2008/11/scowcroft_was_advising_obama_t.html

Scowcroft was advising Obama, too — not just Brzezinski
Ed Lasky
That fact was kept under wraps..until after the election. Scowcroft, along with Zbigniew Brzezinski (who also advised Barack Obama on foreign policy issues) have a long problematic record toward Israel and the American-Israel relationship. When problems arose during the campaign, Obama’s campaign responded that Brzezinski did not advise Obama on Middle East issues involving Israel.

Now that Barack Obama won the election, the first op-ed in the the politically influential Washington Post written by Brzezinski and Scowcroft, involves one nation-Israel.

NOP & Jennifer – You’re not alone in your deep dismay. I concur. I wanted someone to stand up and speak the truth, break the tapestry, burn down the house. Now I don’t know if any politician out there speaks truthfully to the American public. How can one deride BO’s accomplishments and deem him unfit, and then run to be part of the “historic” party? Self-preservation? Was she really that worried about her own neck? For me, it only makes me more aware that the American public is not told the whole story of anything–we are not capable of dealing with it (they think).
These people are our Public Servants. They are Elected. They are not given this as a birthright. They represent us, dammit–then they should speak with OUR voices.
2 cents and all that jazz—

good afternoon my PUMA family! regarding Hillary as SOE, I believe that this will show the wrold and those inside the party what a great candidate they missed. She can be appointed to any position, and those watching her would be envious to see how well she can do. I admire Hillary although I disagreed with her support for BO, but, what the heck!! we are humans!!And my admiration for her is bigger than my disagreement! When I think of her as SOE, I also think of those who denied her and I can imagine how they are feeling now to see that CHANGE was never going to come, instead, BO had to use the people he trashed the most, and his followers must be really angry now!! But he most important thing is to know that many people will know that the presidency is not in the hands of the one that appears in the official documents!! LOL LOL. What else do we need to laugh?

-everyday I think this is more like the analogy of the fencepost turtle joke we used to see on the blog. Very powerful “Captains and Kings” have placed this man up on the post where he can get his quest for historic glory, with a list of demands thrown in for good measure, but the true powerbrokers will be steering this country. Will they catch him when he falls off? Of course. Everything that SHOULD have driven him out of the primaries and campaigns could not stop him. They continued to pick him back up and place him on that damned post. The SuperDelegate Captains and Kings took care of it. They have too much to lose in their investment.

Hands on Obama are the 1% globalization moneyed people, and the freelance or so called world freelance but organized “negotiators of this new breed of so called independent world leader privately funded groups of former heads of states. As the days have gone on, even before the election, it was becoming clear to me that Obama was just the actor playing the role the DNC had contracted him to play. He was all vagueness with hope and change and we can do it kinds of nonsense, but nonsense that the people who didn’t know any better would buy. But the DNC had a plan, and they executed it brilliantly.

The message to the Clintons was: “If you don’t join us, then get out of the way, this is how we plan to take back the white house. If you join us, you can name your terms, if you don’t, then we will destroy you.”

I see the administration as a big loaf of bread. There are just so many slices. Each slice represents a cabinet office. In this case, the DNC and the powers that be in the party all sat down and negoiated an owner for each slice.

The House and Senate are the same. Those who wanted power in some corner over there were also given the same message. The posts were already divided up, already prepackaged. The ones who join the administration from the legislature already have their replacements picked out. The appointments will all be from ’safe’ districts so that the democrats remain in control of both houses.

The Clintons were forced to either become puppet masters or be outsiders in the party. They reluctantly decided to go along (hopefully) for the greater good.

I don’t like this, but it is better than having Ayers’ clone in control of our nation.

#6 Jennifer.

The appropriate response to injustice is anger. I think the minds of people in DC have been politically preened to the point of lobotomy. There is no sense of decency, not even a pretense of decency any more. There is a posting above about Cronkite crying when he announced JFK’s death. I can’t imaging an Olberman or Matthews being that humane. They are all caught up in appearing tough and in spreading venom. This is a low point in American history, like the JFK assassination.

Missed the fund-raising effort earlier, but will send $50 via snail mail on Monday and I signed the petition.

Where was I when JFK died? I was in 6th grade. the Principle cam in and told us the President had been shot. The teachers were in the halls talking but we were in our seats as we were told to stay put. The teacher kept crying off and on. She gave us work to do and left for a long time. She had gone home to get her TV and she plugged it in and got the antenna working. Then we just sat and watched what came on the TV and other classes came in and sat on the floor to hear it. You couldn’t see that much cause TVs were black and white, had small screens and the reception wasn’t that great. It was very confusing and I wanted to go home and ask my Mother what to think.

#179HeidiLi: One more thought: In 11 months, shame has been shown to not be in any way a factor of influence in the regime crew of Obama. Shame is precisely what is missing.
Shame can only have influence in someone or more than one when there is a capacity for it within. There is none.with this group. Thus, shame does not factor in my judgement as any more reason to sign the petition than any other factor one might conclude does. Actually, I think it, for reasons, stated above has no power here.

l. Campaign for progressive state and local candidates.

2. UNDERTAKE GRASSROOTS LOCAL EFFORTS TO ADVANCE “OBAMA’S AGENDA.”

3. Train others in Obama’s organizing techniques.

4. Focus on local political issues.

Obama wants to transform his victory into a broader political movement.

While Hillary as SOS has it’s merits, I still hope she tells him to suck it up and drive on. Especially because there were voters who did not vote for Hillary because they were worried about the reaction of “those sexist foreign officials” to her. As I watch this mess unfold, it occurs to me that the people in places like Russia, Afganistan, Iraq and Iran have always run their governments like the DNC plans to run ours. That is with a strong central committee, and the voter be dammned. This is frightening on so many levels that I cringe to think about it. But, then, again, the Republicans have always had an element of that in their efforts.

208

KarenWI – Also, forgot to mention: If Dick Cheyney is a relation, then he can request Hawaii to fork over the BC. In their regs for those eligible, it states that a relative can request his BC.

Let’s ask Dick to request it.

All Hawaii says it’s a valid BC. So what, that doesn’t mean he was born there, it’s probably just a registration of birth.

All these politicians are in cahoots. I don’t trust any of them. Especially not now!

209

#191Heneri: Well, on this one, we disagree.
Ayers’ clone is in control of this Nation..and the hands on him, as I have stated both in and outside the public eye, whatever that means anymore, are corrupt. That’s right. What you have described is corruption. ..In the history of man, when those who are supposed to represent the interests of the people, in fact, represent their own first, whether it be king, or hybrid forms of so called representative governments,
or assert their own interest as the interest of the people, through languge or act, corruption, that act of replacing the “good” of the populace with their own interest, prevails and the people suffer. On this issue, Sarah Palin was and is correct…when she reminded that those who are elected serve the people, not the other way around. The people always suffer when their so called leaders are corrupt. And when the people suffer beyond what they will endure and rebel, the despot is born…and the people suffer more. We will suffer under the ongoing effects of this kind of corruption, which itself has increased steadily over many years in both parties.

In my web-surfing this morning I found this interesting article about the GOP in a NC county filing a recount due to voter fraud. Obama and McCain votes in NC are close. In NC they had one-stop early voting (register and vote without photo ID). Here’s the link:

http://www.fayobserver.com/article_archive?id=1232201&q=Election,Fraud

The official results in NC aren’t in yet. McCain and Obama are only 14,000 votes apart and in this one county they have 249 pages of questionable votes.

212

Lin4Hill 11.22.08 at 2:19 pm

Heneri – I agree with your comments in post #191. He is the actor playing the role of a lifetime. The true power is behind the scenes. He gets what he wants (glory, face on money, future C.E.O. positions), some special favors for special causes that will help him maintain credibility with his peers, and THEY get everything else.
——————
My hope is that the American people who have seen through this act will rise up and revolt if our safety is jeopardized. And women everywhere should be banging their high-heeled pumps, or cleated boots, or worn-down rubber soles on everything demanding change. That makes me angrier than anything…that we have been treated like we don’t matter.

NotYourSweetie – was on my way out when I saw your link to the educator’s article. Thanks for that. As a teacher, I was supporting Hillary for many reasons, but a golden reason was due to her insightful plan to do away with NCLB and start fresh. She was the only one (other than a late-bloomer McCain) who seriously questioned that legislation that has wreaked havoc in our schools.

I just finished speaking with a good friend of mine who was educated in the Middle East. She was relating to me how students in her country must work so hard to pass a test to advance to higher education. Only the best can go on and seek the university level work. The competition is very stiff. They have no remorse for leaving “children behind” who can’t perform. Our educational system is uneven. Private schools (such as the one BO’s kids will attend) can demand and achieve remarkable results. Public schools where I work demand results, but don’t demand the excellence from the children. Make sense? Read between the lines.

I have dealt all week with an irate parent who wants her child removed from my classroom because he is not making the grades he made last year. She wants the report card to look nice, but doesn’t understand the “stuff” is not there. I can’t do it for her, so she’s demanding he be moved to a teacher who will give him A’s and B’s. Social promotion abounds in our public system. The teacher unions who turned from Hillary and endorsed BO after the primaries were over lost my confidence. Completely.
——–
Now, I really must go until later–bye all.

When JFK died I was in Rome,Italy. I was 13, babysitting and listening to AFRS..Armed Forces Radio Station. I was about 8PM when we got the news. We didn’t have a TV….but went over to a neighbors the next day to follow the tragedy on Italian stations. About and year and half before that fateful day, Kennedy spoke to a very small group on the American Embassy lawn. I was privileged to shake his hand at the end of the speech. I will never forget that moment.

To this day is is hard for me to believe that he was assassinated.

Murphy: I just saw that my Howard Dean comments are the quote of the day…Good… and Thank you. It does emobody my deepest conclusions regarding him.For the record, I had been reading and listening previously to coming to the Pac some speeches of FDR! over at the Miller Center of Public Policy site, University of Virginia, which I highly recommend to you and all. The center has many, many audios of Presidential speeches and many many audios on FDR throughout all the years of His various terms…One day, I started at the beginning and just listened chronologically to his speeches, firestide chats, etc. Incredible expereince, actually.
What is most fascintating is how in detail he speaks on heavyweight subjects to the people. My mother used to say how he explained things …and they understood. When one takes the level of his texts in language and thought especially in the Fireside radio talks, and compares them to how Presidents and candidates have talked to people over the last 20 plus years, it is clear that we, the people, have been considere, and perhaps, rightly so with manym to be stupid idiots, unable to understand anything.

Many of you are resistant to this possibility — but a blind following of anyone is not healthy. We need to open our eyes to any possible explanations of behavior no matter who we want to believe in without questions. Critical thinking involves constant questioning — even when it is Hillary’s motives that are being questioned.

#195 New Orleans Puma,

I signed it although I agree with what you are saying. My thought is that at least we could jerk someone’s string somewhere.

You are completely right about their shamelessness and that’s why we are at such a disadvantage. Politician = sociopath these days, so how is it possible to effect reform?

223Aniem: You ask the ultimate question, an answer for which I am still wondering about in myself…but….will continue, as I know you will as well, to think about. I am convinced that a consistent and persisitent rejection in language and act is necessary throuhout this regime. Unless we are forciablly silenced, that must be done. And, if we are done so, then much much more will also be happening in the country that will clearly indicate other actions of the people. We will know more re how it is possible to effect reform and by what means as this regime begins its “programme” and I use that spelling intentionally.
Hang in, Aniem…hang in!~

mzebest 11.22.08 at 2:59 pm

Also — on the topic of the birth certificate:

We need to be careful of the language — it’s NOT a birth certificate issue — it’s a natural born citizenship issue

Obama may or may not have a legitimate birth certificate (even though in my heart — I believe he was born in Kenya). But whether he has a legitimate birth certificate is not the issue — he is still not a natural born citizen (also not to be confused with the language term naturalized citizen).

So the petition on WND uses incorrect language by demanding a birth certificate. We need to demand that Obama prove he is a natural citizen. Pay attention to the language of importance that Donofrio explains in great detail. And so far his case seems to be showing the most merit with the Supreme Court. So he just may be on to something. We need to pay attention to what he is saying that makes his case successful. And we need to adopt the same language in our arguments. Words are important.

Many of you are resistant to this possibility — but a blind following of anyone is not healthy. We need to open our eyes to any possible explanations of behavior no matter who we want to believe in without questions. Critical thinking involves constant questioning — even when it is Hillary’s motives that are being questioned.

I believe there is merit to this explanation and PUMA’s need to face this possibility

Question???

Another issue that has been bothering me is the fact that FOX reported that they are uncovering at least 8 government officials that illegally used government computer agencies and systems to do research on “Joe the Plumber.” Helen Jones-Kelley just got a minor slap on the wrist from Gov. Strickland in which she is docked one-month of pay. “Joe the Plumber” in an interview on fox said he frankly feels a more severe punishment is in order. She should be fired at the very least. I agree (along with a similar punishment for all involved in the illegal activities).

My question is this:

Why aren’t we doing a prowl of emailing and calling Gov. Strickland to express our outrage and demand more severe punishment to discourage such horrendous behavior?

233

indy 11.22.08 at 3:30 pm

PUMA’s Not your sweetie – has a thread on a teacher’s activist organization, comprised of at least four groups two are for education for illegal aliens, one is in the genre of Ayers’ activism, etc.

They want Linda Darling-Hammonds, one of Obama’s Education Advisors in the campaign, as Education Secretary. I have been warning people for months on all kinds of blogs and MSM sites about this, but nobody pay attention. Well, please pay attention now. This was from noquarterusa months ago:

“In 2006 Professor Gloria Ladson-Billings of the University of Wisconsin, the then president of the American Education Research Association (AERA), the nation’s leading School of Education professional association, proposed a new policy to tackle the problems of America’s public schools: the repayment of centuries of “education debt” that allegedly is owed to people of color as a result of slavery and discrimination. She rooted the concept in the literature supporting reparations for slavery.
In 2007 Linda Darling-Hammond, a prominent and respected professor at the Stanford University School of Education, endorsed the same idea in an article in The Nation. In late 2007 Darling-Hammond was named an education advisor to the Obama campaign. In February 2008 Darling-Hammond issued a blueprint for education reform by the next President that set as its #1 priority the repayment of the “education debt,” as proposed originally by Ladson-Billings.
Bill Ayers has endorsed the idea of repayment of the “education debt.” Ayers is now a Vice President-elect (Division B: Curriculum Studies) of the AERA.
A chapter called “Education for Democracy” by Darling-Hammond appeared in a volume co-edited by Ayers called A Light in Dark Times.”

Notice the familiar name “Ayers.” I think he’ll be pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

Clinton-Obama Détente: From Top Rival to Top Aide
By ELISABETH BUMILLER

WASHINGTON — The thaw in the resentful relationship between the most powerful woman in the Democratic Party and her younger male rival began at the party’s convention this summer, when Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton gave such a passionate speech supporting Senator Barack Obama that his top aides leapt out of their chairs backstage to give her a standing ovation as she swept past.

Mr. Obama, who was in the first steps of what would become a strategic courtship, called afterward to thank her. By then, close aides to Mrs. Clinton said, she had come to respect the campaign Mr. Obama had run against her. At the least, she knew he understood like no one else the brutal strains of their epic primary battle.

By this past Thursday, when Mr. Obama reassured Mrs. Clinton that she would have direct access to him and could select her own staff as secretary of state, the wooing was complete.

“She feels like she’s been treated very well in the way she’s been asked,” said a close associate of Mrs. Clinton, who like others interviewed asked for anonymity because the nomination will not be formally announced until after Thanksgiving.

Few are predicting that this new relationship born of mutual respect and self-interest will grow into a tight bond between the new president and the woman who will be the public face of his foreign policy around the world, though some say it is not impossible. They argue that a close friendship between those in those powerful roles is useful but not essential, and is not a predictor of the success of the nation’s chief diplomat.

While James A. Baker III was extraordinarily close to the first President Bush and is widely considered one of the most successful recent secretaries of state, Dean Acheson was not a friend of President Harry S. Truman and Henry A. Kissinger did not particularly like Richard M. Nixon.

“Two of the nation’s greatest secretaries of state in the modern period, Dean Acheson and Henry Kissinger, were not personally close but were intellectually bonded to their presidents,” said Walter Isaacson, the author of a biography of Mr. Kissinger and of the book “The Wise Men,” a history of America’s postwar foreign policy establishment. “I think that Obama and Clinton could form a perfect partnership based on respect for each other’s view of the world.”

Colin L. Powell, President Bush’s first-term celebrity secretary of state, would appear to be a cautionary tale for Mrs. Clinton since his relationship with the president was strained, and he left office an unhappy man. But Condoleezza Rice, Mr. Bush’s second-term secretary of state, is generally not viewed as having the success her unusually tight bond with the president might have engendered.

In the Obama-Clinton relationship, advisers say, the relatively smooth nature of their talks about the secretary of state job indicate that both, for now, have a working chemistry. The advisers say that Mr. Obama was clearly interested in bringing a rival under his wing, and that he also recognized that Mrs. Clinton had far more discipline and focus than her husband.

At the same time, Mr. Obama’s advisers said, he had the self-confidence to name a global brand as his emissary to the world. He recognizes, they said, that after Jan. 20, he will have to build the kind of relationship that ensures that foreign leaders know that when Mrs. Clinton speaks, she is speaking directly for him.

“It helps to have a relationship that Bush had with Baker, that’s no doubt true,” said Martin Indyk, the former American ambassador to Israel, who was a supporter of Mrs. Clinton in the primary battles. “But if they are seen as working together effectively, I think that can be easily overcome. I don’t think he would have decided to appoint her if he didn’t want her to be effective.”

One close adviser to Mr. Obama said the president-elect also saw that Mrs. Clinton’s political skills would serve her well in the job, as happened with Mr. Baker and Mr. Kissinger. They understood that statecraft is politics by another name, the adviser said.

Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton first spoke after their primary fight on a flight in June to Unity, N.H., their first stage-managed appearance after Mr. Obama won the nomination. As they settled into their seats on Mr. Obama’s plane, the conversation, according to people on both sides, was far less awkward than they had feared. Over the passing weeks, the relationship gradually improved.

“They got past this long before their supporters and the party activists did,” said one Democrat who is close to both senators.

After Mrs. Clinton’s speech in support of Mr. Obama at the Democratic convention, she crisscrossed the country tirelessly to campaign for him — so much so that Mr. Obama told aides he was impressed by the sheer number of events Mrs. Clinton was doing on his behalf.

Mrs. Clinton, it should be said, was herself diligent in advertising how hard she was working for the man who defeated her. When announcing her appearances, her press office included tallies of how many events she had held for Mr. Obama, and in how many states. At some rallies, organizers would distribute “Hillary Sent Me” buttons, as if Mrs. Clinton was being magnanimous by “sending” her followers to vote for Mr. Obama.

But Mr. Obama began calling Mrs. Clinton after some of the events — he dialed directly from his cellphone to hers one day in Michigan and another day in Florida — to check in and thank her for helping. By then, their intense primary fights over policy, which both sides now insist was more about heat than substance, had long receded.

“The reality at the end of the day was, whether it was Iran or health care or some of these other issues, we were always fighting big battles over small differences,” said a senior aide to Mr. Obama, adding that “in a campaign, conflict is what you go to.”

Substantively, the two were at odds over the Iraq war — Mrs. Clinton voted to authorize it and Mr. Obama said he would have opposed it had he been in the Senate then — and to a lesser extent over negotiations with Iran. But although Mrs. Clinton criticized Mr. Obama for being willing to sit down and talk to dictators, Mr. Obama has said he would have a lower-level envoy do preparatory work for a meeting with Iran’s leaders first. Mrs. Clinton has said she favors robust diplomacy with Iran and lower-level contacts as well.

In the weeks just before the election, the relationship between Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton further mellowed, even as Mrs. Clinton found herself in a startling role reversal with her younger rival. As a celebrity senator and powerhouse on Capitol Hill, she had helped Mr. Obama in his Senate race and offered advice when he first came to Washington; now she was the workhorse for a political phenomenon.

Since the election, Mrs. Clinton has talked to Mr. Obama only a handful of times, even as two close advisers to Mr. Obama who held top positions in the Clinton administration — Rahm Emanuel and John Podesta — have served as key negotiators between her and the president-elect on the secretary of state position.

But Mrs. Clinton has talked several times to Michelle Obama about raising a family in the White House and private schools in Washington. On Friday, Mrs. Obama said the two Obama girls would attend the Sidwell Friends school, just as Chelsea Clinton did.

Jeff Zeleny contributed reporting from Chicago, and Mark Leibovich from Washington.

I did, indy…. just didn’t respond. I’m not a bit surprised, really. I’ve been thinking all along that Obama has had a lust for worldwide power all along. …and the DNC…and Hillary (sorry, but that’s what I think)… are all in it and have developed the same hunger. I am afraid… Obama isn’t just “any politician”… there has been an evil smell of sulfer about this campaign right from the start. I felt all along this was a battle of good vs. evil…. and, unfortunately, it appears that evil won. We’re too busy having fun on the board to actually DO something… IF there IS anything to DO to stop this…. before it’s too late. It’s like I’m sitting here watching the world spiral down to destruction….

Many of us remember November 22, 1962, the day JFK was assassinated. But, I bet Lilibet and I are the only ones who remember April 12, 1945!!! That was the day that FDR died in Warm Springs, Georgia. I was eight years old, but was so upset by the news that I told my parents that I was going to die!! They couldn’t find a doctor in the middle of the night to take me to in order to reassure me that I wasn’t going to die! That day stands out in my mind as if it were just yesterday. I can remember asking one of my classmates the next day in school -”Aren’t you upset about the President?” and when her answer was “no”, I just couldn’t understand why that was her response. She was just another 8 year old who just wasn’t as sensitive as I was at the time.

KarenWI;
One of the commenters on the original article [ http://blogs.forbes.com/trailwatch/2008/11/obamas-birth--1.html#comment-140015746 ] says:

What Fukino’s press release says is they have Obama’s “original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.” It says nothing about him being born in Hawaii.

If my daughter was running for President, they could say the exact same thing. My daughter was adopted in Hawaii, her original birth certificate is on file and she has a Hawaii Certificate of Live Birth – but she was born in South Korea to Korean nationals.

Which is what I’ve repeated in many places all along: the Hawaiian COLB is virtually irrelevant, since there are several ways to get one besides being born in Hawaii.

Thanks for your comments. I agree that the article might not be 100% correct. But I posted it mostly because the basic premise that a worship of Clinton as being idealistically great might need to be reevaluated. I have read many articles that connect her to Soros and the fact that she is also a student of Alinsky techniques. Hello, PUMAs. Lurking today, have two sick kids taking most of my energy. Anyway, just a quick comment on Hillary Clinton and her motivations; she’s a politician, first and foremost. She did what worked for her, as any politician does who wants her career to survive. She’s not our hero, she’s not our savior, she’s just a politician who happens to be female. If the women of this country want real change, their going to have to start with a ground swell that builds up from the bottom and slowly, but surely engulfs our culture. Real, deep-seated change is the work of a lifetime, maybe several lifetimes. So, what now?

Which is why I really don’t think it can happen.//

Lotsa things have happened none of us thought could.

The “chaos” might assist a necessary purging of some very malign elements from the body politic and the body civil. It would certainly massively discredit the DNC Cabal that choreographed O’s dance to putative power.
