Please. Make it stop.

in Hillary Clinton, Media Bias, So Called Free Press (SCFP)

What are the chances that if Hillary does accept Secretary of State the SCFP and the insiders will stop the gosh darn drama and start treating Clinton, and, crucially, the office of State, with the respect she and it deserve?

Let’s ask CRACKLE!

And a woman whose name I should know also says EWWW, Hillary!

Right. I thought so. It will never stop.

More here, here, and here.

Maybe Hillary should just emigrate to an island off the coast of South America. She can buy the place, set up a government, and we can all just move there.

This is seriously pathetic.

~~~~~~~~
Thanks for your comments. I agree that the article might not be 100% correct. But I posted it mostly because the basic premise that a worship of Clinton as being idealistically great might need to be reevaluated. I have read many articles that connect her to Soros and the fact that she is also a student of Alinsky techniques. With that in mind — I’m not ready to hail her as the answer and cure to all our needs.
HA! MSNBC brings up the rear and Cackle scores even lower:
Poll: Internet, Fox News Are Most Trusted News Sources
The web is the most trusted news medium (over TV and print combined), and Fox News is the most trusted TV news source, according to results from a new Zogby poll commissioned by the Independent Film Channel.
Fox ruled with 39.3 percent of those polled beating out CNN at 16 percent and MSNBC at 15 percent.
These results are good fodder for Fox in defending its claims of being “Fair and Balanced” — it’s also interesting to note that more people in the poll described themselves as Democrats than Republicans — but the majority of Americans seem to also have little faith in the media at all.
The online survey of 3,472 adults two days after the election found that three out of four people think that the media influenced the outcome, and about the same number also think that the media in general is biased.
In the other categories, The New York Times was the most trusted newspaper and Rush Limbaugh (12.5 percent) came out on top among news personalities closely followed by Fox’s Bill O’Reilly (10.1 percent).
Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Stephen Colbert and Chris Matthews were the least trusted personalities, all scoring under 2 percent.
I will go buy one of those miniature christmas stockings..they are about two inches high at the most and are often used as ornaments on trees. I will slit it down the back and will bring the bottom to the middle of the stocking and will attach some elastic, to it around either end of the top of the stocking.
I will get a nice one of the larger Christmas To You From hanging tags and write my note to Chrissy boy. The thought of it pleases the soul!
From previous post: “Clinton as Secretary of State says a lot of things. First it says what was apparent back in June when Obama asked for that meeting — that she was the one in the drivers seat calling the shots and told him what it would take to get her support. Obviously he made the deal. And now the IOU is being paid.”
I guess Tom in Paine agrees with what I have posted before that this deal was made in June at the home of Feinstein in D.C.
No, I don’t think the media is going to let up until BO tells them to knock it off. When Hillary takes the position though, she will represent the Obama Administration. He will not like it if someone who represents the Messiah does not look good in the media. At that point, the ridicule in the press over Hillary will stop, IMHO.
I was wondering why he is waiting until AFTER Thanksgiving to announce this position. The SOS is a HUGE position and it has been leaked about Hillary as being the possible nominee. It then dawned on me – is he trying to belittle the position by holding off the announcement as to making it seem that it is not so important? That way, it knocks Hillary down a few pegs in public perception of the position. That ONE doesn’t want ANYONE stealing his spotlight, and the SOS will steal his spotlight, especially since it is a Clinton. This position is usually announced before some of these other cabinet positions, so I was just wondering if this is what he is up to.
I think Obladi is hoping she’ll say no and giving her as much time as possible. Hillary is already stealing his thunder – his own people are criticizing him. He may just want to piss us off again, but what would he get from that? If her people leaked the story so he couldn’t withdraw it, she wins. If his people leaked it and he withdraws it, she wins. The only way we really lose is if we were set up from the beginning – and quite frankly even that would not diminish the respect for all she has acomplished and all she has gone through as wife, mother, lawyer, senator, presidential candidate. and all the other things she has done as a super woman.
What good reason could they possibly have for that , and why do they even get to tell the churches that in the first place ???
TexasTigress,
I’m concerned as well. I just came in from outside (nyc) and it’s incredibly cold, so let’s call Arnold Cohen at Partnership for Homeless and tell him we are worried. (Email as well.)
I am concerned that the mentally ill and church dependent won’t realize how to get to shelters–that it will be too confusing, or that some of them are afraid of shelters and will choose to try to tough it out somewhere unsafe and exposed to the elements.
He’s listed as the President:
Let me make myself more clear, if possible. I never meant to imply women are safe outlets for thugs. I think Matthews could have lapsed into pedophilia if he had chosen the priesthood. He’s enamored of and has a tingly leg over a president-elect who looks like a slender young adolescent (and unfortunately has the mind to match).
I believe that Senator Clinton will pound Chrissy back as soon as the time is right. She’s more of a match for him than an innocent child would be for a predatory priest.
BTW, your phrase “not because of them, but despite them” is interesting. I still value the mysticism of Catholicism, but just like this political scene, I completely object to the hypocrisy.
@ #42:
I left a message for Arnold Cohen on his voicemail, and said that I hoped that they were at least offering shuttle service.
I also emailed them and will try them again during office hours.
I think they want the homeless to come to them so they can sort of snag them and help them with resources and housing, which is good, but too many church dependent homeless will be upset about their church shutting down on them. I hope it’s not that they just walk up and there is a sign on the door telling them an address to the shelter. I guess it will be. It’s too cold to even think how to go somewhere new, and I realize many must prefer the privacy and peace in a church, instead of some kind of vast communal bed warehouse. A lot of them, I am sure, do not want to socialize, or have to deal with filling out paper work, etc. The chronically homeless are going to be very distressed by the churches closing their doors. Hopefully Arnold Cohen and his Partnership for the Homeless have made special plans to help such people.
The article was about … “Drug Screening for Welfare recipients.” The author said, that he had to be drug screened for most of his jobs throughout his life. He said that “since his tax dollars went to pay for welfare … why could welfare recip. NOT be drug tested (for illegal substances only)in order to receive a check per month??? The author believes that this would reduce some welfare dependency etc…
The article says the city has enough beds for all of the homeless. Why NOT have them go to a city shelter? Isn’t the city in a better position to do that? The churches here don’t want to complain publicly but they are terribly overburdened with the homeless problem. I think it’s a good step to have the municipalities step up to the plate on this. The other good thing is that something run by the government is less likely to discriminate on the basis of race, religion, etc.
In our city we have also had homeless freeze to death. If you actually go and talk to the homeless themselves, they will tell stories about their friends who fell off the wagon, passed out drunk and woke up with serious frostbite.
Some churches I know will give any homeless person a ride to a municipal shelter for free. There are homeless who are afraid of the shelters–the women say their shelters are safer–but they prefer to get a train ticket and ride the underground trains all night to keep warm. Some church programs will give out train passes.
SouthernGal69: Well I have been saying it for months, way before even June, so there you are. If the funds come from the government , then the government can say to anyone unless you do so and so, you will not receive the funds. If the 5 days a week is a law for any shelter regardless of funds, and a church decides on its own to do this kind of ministry then that is in my view clearly a conflict of the secular law and the ministry of a Church, and if that law in and of itself was not challenged when it first came out, then shame on any Church who eagerly, if they do receive government money, took the money with no challenge. This is one of the reasons I have always rejected the so called giving of money to so called faith based enterprises. If you take the money, you take the rules and regulations..but if there is a positve law in Ny which is intened to apply to any so called shelter whether ithas govt money or not, the issue is much more complicated and a true intrusion.
SouthernGAL68,
Hmm, maybe, but these drug addictions are diseases, so then will it get into a thing where it’s discriminatory?
I’m in favor of limited welfare. I think it would be good to have an offering of welfare for every single American, only once in their life–for up to a year (to be divvied up at different times if so chosen), and then an extension and reduction based on meeting some minimal work/ school requirement. But then that’s it. Food stamps for children can last longer. People with drug addiction and chronic mental illness need welfare sometimes, but they should also seek treatment if they wish to have an extension.
Welfare is necessary and times do turn on people, but I just don’t like it when people are dependent on welfare for years and years. Bad for the spirit, bad for the economy.
I just remembered something about Rham Emmanuel.
“Rep. Rahm Emanuel of Illinois, a Democratic House leader who helped orchestrate the party’s strategy for winning control of Congress in 2006, argues against reading too much into the holdouts. He said most of them always stay out of national politics and that the party is generally unified around Obama.
“They’re just going to stick to their knitting,” he said. “It’s not that they’re anti-Obama.”
How could have I forgotten?
I’m concerned with the psychological effect of shutting down the churches. I don’t want people to feel abandoned and confused, and if they are going to churches in the first place–it is a sign that they likely avoid shelters. A lot of homeless people are very anti-shelter, and I wouldn’t want them to just try to huddle somewhere and get through the night out of fear of change or obstinance or pride, and then freeze to death. Plus, you know, a lot of these chronically mentally ill just can’t cope with the hassles of planning and bureaucracy and being social. Anyway, I hope they are offered rides to the shelters, and to other open churches if they wish. Can’t force people to sleep at a shelter if they don’t want, so I hope many agree to go. But now the choice sounds like shelter or street–that’s one less choice without the churches.
The civil rights of homeless people are supposed to be protected under our laws in this country. If it is their free choice to go to a Church shelter, then unless those people are picked up on some kind of law relative to the well being of the mentally unstable, also protected under many civil laws, then it is as much an affront to their civil right to choose as it is an affront to a Church’s right to do any ministry it wishes to if Ny has a law which deny’s access or refuge except under its own terms. This is outrageous, if the law applies to a Church which does not receive any goveernment money for its actions re this issue. It is OUTRAHEOS and must be put down.
“drug screening for welfare recipients”
Welfare doesn’t really exist any more. That was Big Dawg’s doing back in 1996 or so. Everyone who was getting benefits had to be either employed a certain number of hours a week or in a work search program. Then the number of hours increased and increased again, until if you were working the required number of hours, eventually your income was too high to qualify.
That was back when there was full employment and practically everyone who wanted a job could get one. The only exceptions were for pregnant women, who could get something called TANF, “temporary assistance for needy families”, as a lot of employers won’t hire someone who is visibly pregnant. There are still programs like food stamps and medical assistance for the disabled and those over 65 or under 19, also though I think the later is a state program.
There are certainly drug users in that population, but trying to get someone on drugs to check into rehab is notoriously difficult. Usually their lives quickly deteriorate to the point where they are no longer able to care for their children, and the caseworker gets a phone call from the relative who has the children.
There has been some success with screening the incarcerated for paternity, since they can’t refuse a paternity test when they’re in prison. Then on the outside chance they are able to get a job when they come out, there is a mechanism for getting child support deducted fomr their paychecks.
Paternity tracking ends up being cost effective for the state, as the fathers take some financial responsibility for taking care of their families. Drug testing I think is a waste of time.
#81Nijma: What state do you live in? The term welfare may have been put aside, but your blanket description of the services somehow going somewhere else and your description of other services still being done is clearly state specific. You need to make that distinction as you post relative to the issues and services surrounding items you describe. One cannot make universal statements regarding them anymore.
85
kat in your hat 11.22.08 at 7:51 pm
SouthernGAL68:
“Are they dicriminating aganist me???” Actually, my opinion is that they might be, but it depends on what you do, and employers can do what they want pretty much.
I don’t think it’s anybody’s business to know what is in your blood stream unless you could harm yourself or others in your profession simply based on side effects of drugs.
Food stamps is a federal program, administered by the states.
Medicaid is also federal. TANF was federal , but the states had some discretion. Some states phased out TANF over 3 years and a lot of recipients moved to states where they were phasing it out over 5 years. Stuff like KidCare (sliding scale medical for children and their parents) and its descendants are state programs. Several states have something like that. And no, I don’t have medical insurance, even though my state taxes pay for those who do.
Nijma,
well, I hope the churches disregard orders if it’s necessary. I actually do not understand how the city can tell them what to do. Maybe they are receiving government aid of some sort, and the non-profit sector is muscling the homeless away from them to eventually gain more financial grants from the city. I don’t know. I figure the real plan is to “catch” the homeless people to offer resources and housing, etc, but it’s a severe way to do it.
_____________
No. Programs can be altered for women vs men, young v. old, and able v. disabled, etc. But no, they should not discriminate. I think there is discrimination based on income, which is tricky. It forces people to work less (or off the books) to maintain assistance.
These videos (at link below) did help answer a question that always nagged at me. I always wondered what angle Obama had by supporting abortion rights to the point of even supporting the bill against infant protection rights. Let me say that I am a pro-choice person so I’m not questioning pro-choice theology… but what I am questioning is why a Muslim would support a pro-choice theology to such a radical level when Muslims in general don’t respect women’s rights overall? Does that question make sense?
Anyway — at the end of the part 3 video on the link below — the Muslim speaker offers the answer to this question. Of course a Muslim would support abortion rights when it helps Americans to kill off their own babies. Personally, that explanation makes sense to me since I tend to operate on accepting the assumption that Obama hates America.
The other thing astonishing about Donofrio’s case is that he has documented proof of a conversation that the Sec. of State did nothing to ensure that any of the candidates were qualified by the Constitutional requirements. There was a conversation with officials that admitted this. I think his case is extremely credible. He also has proof of illegal attempts to stonewall his case in the lower courts to get him to go away.
97Kat in Hat : If churches receive and use government funds for what they do, then they either do what the rules and regs say or they give up the money. That is one issue.
If, however, the Churches do not receive government money for what they do and, in fact, there is a positive law in NY which mandates that any shelter that does not offer on a regular basis 5 night a week acces can not by the fact and fact alone offer any shelter at all to a person who is homeless, then …that is another issue..a civil rights issue for the homeless person who may so choose to go to a church, and it is another issue….the inteference of a civil, secular government by way of a postive law that tells a private entity, a Church, it can not do an action that that Church deems a religious act or its belief system. That is in my view and Constitutional issue and should be challenaged all the way to the Supreme Court. And then there is the ongoing issue always regarding the choice of a homeless person to not go in any shelter, another action surrounded for sometime by sets of laws,..that is another issue.
The most important of these issues, from my point of view, especially given the
programme..speling intentional of this incoming regime is the most serious of all and that is the one where a positve law by a secular government, in in fact the NY law says this, that a Church can not choose to minister to a homeless person with their own funds and on their own terms. This is a very serious issue…indeed.
110
Nijma 11.22.08 at 8:23 pm
kat in the hat, there is not “plan” to “catch” homeless people. When someone needs something for free, whether it is food or something to steal so they can sell for a bottle, they go to the churches. They hang around waiting for the service to end and follow the old people. They fall asleep in the back of the church during the service. They follow the pastors to the train station. They gather by the church offices and are constantly knocking on the door when the staff is trying to get ready for the church events. If someone in the church gives one of them a bus ticket with a transfer left on it, within a half hour there will be six more people knocking on the door trying to get a bus transfer. A lot of them need a social worker, but how many churches can afford to hire a social worker for all the people who might show up at their doors? I repeat, where are the churches who are complaining about the city taking up the slack?
Are you familiar with the concept of “codependency”?
Maybe the city wants all the homeless to visit their shelters and a way to make that happen is to close shelters that are only open when the temperature drops below a certain degree.
That way they can keep track of people and maybe get them to shelter for a longer period of time.
But what the hell do I know. I am no expert and I am only guessing.
122
kat in your hat 11.22.08 at 8:37 pm
Nijma,
No, a lot of homeless rescue programs, including police, work to “catch” homeless people. What I mean by that is…get them in the system, and help them with assistance and get them off the street. Sure it’s a plan. That’s the big plan, to get the homeless off the street.
First of all, a lot of that behavior by the homeless could have to do with how the church is being run. I’ve seen the homeless wait patiently outside of churches until their time. You make them sound like senseless zombies. It makes the church sound disorganized.
Sure, there might be churches complaining to the city about picking up the slack. Churches may get financial help to bed and feed the homeless, and they wouldn’t want to lose that assistance. Also, some church staff develop relationships with homeless people and do not want to put them out in the cold.
Yeah, I know what codependency is. Is that like clinging to religion? ;) Church is a positive avenue for the homeless, and any responsible church offers contact information for homeless resource services, so it is not like there should be a great divide or severing of the two.
I was just browsing the blog and noted discussion on homeless. Last night we drove through downtown San Diego. Due to the revitalization of downtown, the homeless have been pushed to a certain area that are not yet revitalized. It was sad watching them “set up” their shelter for the night. I thought about them all night when I was cozy in my bed. So thoughts of purchasing pop up tents have been in my mind today. Last year, we took out $2,000 and drove around handing out $20 to each homeless person. We didn’t want to attach any strings – just free money. They could buy whatever poison they want or food. I just didn’t feel it is my right to attach any demands just because I felt like making myself feel good about doing a good deed. This year, it may be some tents or sleeping bags . That’s my story and am sticking to it.
Goofsmom … I am not an attorney, so I do not know law specs, but what about this …. Question 4 u
You are right, there is no sworn affidavit. I remember a professor of mine (Federal Law Class – 20 years ago) talking about “probable cause”. Now that an official of Kenya has NOT refuted the statement about BO being born there etc …. Is this enough “probable cause” to investigate the matter futher?? I know that this would be on a Federal level, but I am not sure how this would work. Do you know by some chance or I am just dreaming that this could finally be enough to atleast get the ball rolling on the BC issue?????
That’s very nice of you–really, they will always feel good you helped them. My folks really cared about the homeless–did lots of things.
I am thiking about this nice homeless man I got to know two years ago. I found him in alphabet city and bought him some hot chocolate and a cheeseburger from a diner. He was so sad and it was soo cold. Below freezing. I put him up in a cheapie hotel for a night and worked super hard to get him into a special program he desired, but which had a waiting list. I got it all worked out, and then he would call me every now and then when he was lonely there. (He stopped talkign to his family–ashamed, plus complications.) Then, he had some kind of problem and was asked to leave–the place called me. Then he called me crying and apologized, saying he let me down, and then he never called me again and he disappeared. I wasn’t upset with him at all, so I hope he is ok out there and not thinking he let me down, because he didn’t.
So many homeless stories…
#129Kat in hat: I agree with you Kat. Maybe you won’t mind another little histor item related to this issue of so called church and state issues. In the early 50s, when I was little, the mothers of children who went to the Catholic school I did started a hot lunch program for the kids, using funds of the school, which they themselves earned for the school with fundraisers and funds from some of what people put in the basket at church..The meals tasted great..homecooking for about 200 kids once a day at lunch and the mothers CLub scheduled volutneers to do it. Everybody was happy..truly.
Great food etc. Then, the Federal Govt offered to provide certain food stuffs, I think through the Ag Dept, extras, what was not dispersed otherwise. Oh ..the pastor thought this was great. My mother, the President of the Mother;s club, proceeded to tell him why this was in fact not great and why we should not accept it. I am sure you know what she said…because if you do then they will tell you and us what to do and I will be damned if that should happen here. Well he did it anyway and she was right…no more voluteer mothers..we had to have a certified or whatever cook and the meals had to be a certain way…Awful awful….our lunch program suffered severely. If you take government money as a church, you are playing with the wrong crew…period.
In the 50s it was so, so is it true now..because time does not change the necessity in our great country to keep the two separate and to make sure neither infringes on the actions relegated to it by our Constitution. This line has been blurred and mingled way too much, an ironically it first came in our time under Mr Republican Bush…to assuage his religious group supporters as you know. Ojingo will go way beyond that, I assure you or he will try to.
“Maybe he just wants the froth around the BC issue to reach critical mass, then he’ll whip out a valid BC, and point out that the masses that are against him (because he’s black), and all critiques, and suspicions of him will have to go underground because no one wants to be labeled “RACIST”
~~~~~~~~~

The fact is that the above comment helps to perpetuate the ignorance on these lawsuits that are now gaining speed. It’s obvious that PUMAPAC is ignoring the fact that these lawsuits are also becoming noticed because of the importance behind the issues at stake. I posted a similar comment downstairs but let me say this again: This is NOT ABOUT A BIRTH CERTIFICATE — this is about BEING A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN.

There’s a huge difference between these two concepts. The importance of the Donofrio case is that even if Obama DOES PROVIDE A BIRTH CERTIFICATE — he is NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN. Donofrio has successfully bypassed the “standing” argument. If you’ve listened to what’s been going on — the lower court tried to give his deposit of money back to him. They tried to get him to accept a refund to file his case. Why? Because they realized it was sound. Another misconception is that the case was denied when going to the SCOTUS on the first round. It wasn’t denied… but rather the court clerk tried to say it was denied in hopes that Donofrio would give up and go away. But Donofrio knew enough about the law to realize that the clerk was pulling some sort of scam and never showed the case to the Judge. It was this mistake that allowed him to refile and choose a Judge of his own choice. Now the case has merit and they’ve ruled to have it reviewed by ALL the Justices. This is big. It’s time to stop dismissing it as silly because of the disappointment from mistakes made by Berg and Martin.

Many have learned from their mistakes and are filing some really great cases. It’s fascinating to follow and it’s exploding on the Internet and I find it ironic that PUMAPAC feels it’s acceptable to ignore what’s going on. There are interested PUMA’s that are following but PUMAPAC as a whole seems to like to use the dismissive attitude that is expected of Obamabots — but not PUMAPAC. What’s up with that?

Yes, that is very interesting. Separation is very important…yes, and it reminded me of volunteerism vs. forced volunteerism–or in your case, state labor to supplant church volunteerism. Now, I understand why there could be rules to foods (nutrition/ allergies), but it is sad that the program was mishandled by federal government. That happens a lot, because the state is so depersonalized and detached…big entity systemizing* the masses. I can understand the importance of church and private entities…it helps to keep things human. Helps people feel in control of their lives.

~~~~~~~~
I’ve been doing the same. Trying to participate in the sites that are organizing efforts to write to the Electoral Candidates. Also following all these Citizenship lawsuits. I’m very proud of how many are picking up steam and am amazed at how many are getting discussed over Internet radio stations. I listened to the archived show on Why the media isn’t reporting on it and I agree with their assessment at the link below that it’s out of fear. They’ve had such a huge investment in making this candidate successful that they fear the repercussions if it falls apart.
http://politicalpistachio.blogspot.com/2008/11/why-is-obamas-birth-certificate-still.html
Personally — I’m ready for it to fall apart before it ever gets started. That’s why I’ve been heavily researching these cases and following them and helping with letter writing efforts.
I also thought that this link below was interesting and related. Why would the Defense Secretary be refusing to give top security information to the Obama team before Jan. 20th? My take is that they know he’s a threat and not a legal citizen and they are probably hoping for the SCOTUS to rule in the favor of one of these cases too. At least I hope they are on the right side of this fence.
Thought all of you would appreciate this joke:
New Element Discovered
A major research institution has just announced the discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science.
The new element has been named “Governmentium.”
Governmentium has one neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 224 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 311.
These 311 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.
Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert.
However, it can be detected, as it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact.
A minute amount of Governmentium causes one reaction to take over 4 days to complete, when it would normally take less than a second.
Governmentium has a normal half-life of 4 years; it does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutron exchange places.
In fact, Governmentium’s mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.
The characteristic of moron-promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in concentration.
This hypothetical quantity is called “Critical Morass.”
When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element which radiates just as much energy, since it has half as many peons, but twice as many morons.
I totally understand and I know there are a lot of PUMA’s interested. My previous comment was not aimed at those PUMA’s that are interested… but to make the point that this blog as a “whole” should also be taking a more active interest. Instead — many comments on PUMAPac in the past has implied that the blog as a “whole” chooses to minimize this issue and not be a big part in monitoring it and helping the effort. And in minimizing it — it feels like they’ve allowed the Alinksy methods that BO uses to neutralize any controversy from sticking. That’s why I said I would expect that from Obamabots but not PUMAPac.
I the cost savings didnt make it worth it to many people… the recapture usd to be 20 years, but the technology has advanced so much that it isn’s as cost prohibitive now. You can power your entire home, and depending on collecting vs usuage rates, you can sell teh excess back to teh power company. You have to install a second meter to do that.
Nijma,
yes, I know things like that happen. When I referred to police “catching” them, I meant that they ticket them, for loitering or jaywalking or disturbing the peace, etc. It’s to get their information in the system. They could be missing people, or sometimes they figure the only way to get them off the street is to arrest them and get them exposed to social service programs offered by the court for rehabilitation.
“How does solar paneling work? (Ya, I know, da sun), but can one get total electricity via solar panels? Or…is it an energy supplement mainly? And, is it expensive? Because why doesn’t everyone use it?”
~~~~~~~~~

The biggest problem is the up-front costs of installation. There are some rebate programs available but the incentives are great enough just yet. And I doubt Obama will provide the incentives. If pricing became more affordable — it would be a win-win situation. You can have a reverse meter installed which would allow you to sell back any excess energy to the Electric company. Depending on how many panels you install it might only supplement your existing energy needs or could conceivably exceed your energy needs (thus you would sell back to the company in the latter example).

I looked into the cost of getting sufficient amount of panels installed on my roof to cover my needs and the estimate (even after rebates) would still be around $25,000. I don’t have that kind of cash available up front at the moment. So I can’t afford to have it done even though it would save money over the long term…but would love to do so.

HEY WHAT’S THIS WITH ALL THE COMMENTS AND WHAT IS YOUR BASIC PROBLEM ALREADY?
I was out of wine, all right? and the neighborhood grocery was about to close, okay? And now I have got the cork off and I’m having a real hard time with the keyboard becasue I keep accidentally hitting the key that switches to Arabic, so just with the first glass I can see this wine will be a problem. And I don’t like to blog and drink at the same time–the blogging keeps me from drinking seriously.

So let me say that homelessness is a problem that is interrelated with a lot of other stuff, like the urban renewal and mental health, and why not let the people who have to live with it find their own answers? does any one really think a city government is not intimately involved with the people who deal with this stuff personally day in and day out? Why second guess it from the outside without any real information? btw, if you want to come over to the Camel’s Nose any time, feel free, the only thing is if you type the f-word I will edit it, also this time of night a LOT of people from the middle east find it, so we can’t talk about wine, okay?

Another great idea that’s starting to become more popular is the tankless water heater. My tank water heater had a sudden break down in the middle of the night a few years back. Fortunately I knew enough to turn off the water valves otherwise my home might have flooded. I noticed something wasn’t right when I turned on the water to take a shower and the water never heated up. I went out to the garage to investigate and saw water flooding out of the water heater.

I invested in replacing it with a tankless. These things are awesome. They save a ton of money because they don’t rely on keeping a huge tank of water constantly at a certain hot temperature. They work by heating water only as you need it. So your hot water supply is not only on demand … but it’s as much as you want. You never run out of hot water. The technology works with a system that when you turn on the hot water… the cold water is pumped through a piping system that heats it up and sends it through to where ever you need it… whether washing dishes, taking a shower, washing clothes… or whatever.

It’s awesome… I love it. I can do all the above things at once and several people could take hot showers at once… and I never run out of hot water. Yet my energy bill is less cause I’m not paying to heat up water to just sit in a tank when I’m not using it. The tank has to keep reheating it as it sits there unused… to keep it at a consistent temperature. Plus a tank heater gets less efficient with age. The tankless doesn’t have those issues.

235

Nijma 11.22.08 at 10:14 pm

Solar
I’ve seen solar in Katmandu, the water in the little hotel was heated with the solar panels. The optimal time for a shower was 4 PM.
A commune in Wisconsin uses solar, a huge bank of batteries in the basement in parallel, tiny Christmas tree sized lights in the upstairs hallway so you can find your way in the dark. They might also run a computer with it, I’m not sure. I’ve also seen a camping trailer with a solar panel that charges an ordinary car battery, I think this is used to run a tiny refrigerator.

Mine is gas because my original tank waterheater operated on gas… so they used the existing lines to install a gas powered tankless. The cost varies depending on the size of your home and the needs it would require. I would have had to pay around $1800 to $2000 to buy a new tank water heater. It cost me $3000 for the proper tankless and installation of a tankless… so I felt the extra $1000 cost was well worth the benefits.

“How does a tankless water heater work?”

~~~~~~~~~
To understand — let me first explain that a tank water heater works by heating up that huge tank full of water. If you’re not using it… it has to keep reheating it to keep the water hot for when you do use it. Then keep in mind that the metal tank retains cold during the winter… so your tank has to kick in to reheat the water more often as the metal gets cold. And with age… the tank becomes less efficient. All of this costs you money as the gas is turned on each time the tank kicks in to heat up the water.
NOW — in contrast — a tankless is a smaller unit that powers the ability to turn on the heat when you need it. So let’s say you turn on the hot water to take a shower. This sends a signal to the tankless to send water through the tankless water unit to heat up before pumping the water into your house. So cold water goes through the tankless system where it is heated up to the required temperature and then sent on up through the pipes to your shower… or where ever. Thus you save money because the gas power is only used when you need hot water.
~~~~~~~~~~

Exactly… thanks for putting it in a more concise way. And again… you get hot water for as long as you need it… you never run low while taking a shower. It’s very cool. I also notice that I don’t have to wait as long to receive the hot water as I did when I had a tank water heater. The hot water gets through quicker. But I think there are extra gadgets you can install to ensure instant gratification when you need the hot water. I didn’t opt for the extras to save on costs… but I’m plenty happy with how it performs with the basic unit.

I do feel that you are correct in your assumptions. The answer will not be forth comming and any conclusions that were stated, were based on generalizations of information and not true knowledge.

I thought the numbers were a killer… until that G-mail-Email Mania kicked into full force! LOL!
————–
I received 117 FEC email in the space of less than 8 hours. I haven’t checked the number of response I sent.
It settled down around 3PM or so, and I think it will remian settled now that you and Trish and Headclunker have sorted some things, added additional documenttion, and guidance.

That’s just cruel, Murphy! What a tease. I would love it if that happened. I’d go “Jonestown” for Hillary anytime. Just say the word.

I have been off while people are responding to the Hardball comments. But I just have to post anyway. Chris Matthews and his guests rocked the boat every which way to make sure Obama got in and now they are ADMITTING that they have no clue WHO he is or WHAT he is doing.

That speaks volumes.

I know what he is doing. He is covering his ass. He is doing what his money people, the big backers from the early 1990’s want him to do. He suddenly realized that he really is going to be the president and he has to do something to keep him from failing before he gets into office. He is trying to sort out his Teflon coat while trying to figure out how to deal with real world situations.

It would be a really good idea for each of us to buy a big multi-GB Flash drive and record every single article we can find about Obama’s shifts over time.

History is being rewritten constantly this past year. It doesn’t help that the MSM and Google are scrubbing everything. We need records of what is and has happened during this entire election process. Maybe we cannot ever get Obama’s back records in this lifetime, but we can surely make a record of what is going on now.

About 2%Matthews: that’s even worse than Pelosi! Together they add up to double digits, though. ;) :twisted:

mzebest, NOP;
the point made in the Monster article about the leftist belief that a Self-Assembled Committee of Saints can and should adjust human circumstances and nature to bring about Earthly Paradise is crucial. Such a vision and commitment inherently excuses and requires long-term duplicity and scheming and subversion of the existing society. PEOPLE SHOULD BELIEVE WHAT ALINSKY SAYS ABOUT GOALS AND METHODS. It is a classical mistake and weakness to discount the clear, published statements of the more egotistical absolutists about their plans.

See: Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Osama bin Laden, Alinsky and Obama.

Could it be that HRC is just more discrete about her Alinsky-program for The Rest Of Us?

I cant believe I got a sunburn in 23 degree weather. more like a windburn i think.//
========
Sunburn is entirely possible. Nothing to do with heat, just UV radiation. the cold might make you less aware of the sun’s strength at the time and actually increase the chances of a burn. Another such example is snowblindness, which is actually sunburned retina from UV reflection off the snow. (Us Canucks know stuff like that. ;) )

You’re just a piece of work this morning! (Funny.)
I don’t buy the conspiracy angle on the Monster’s piece, but I agree that she should be seen as a politician first, and not the end all. Anyway, how can we make sure HIS policies do not prevail? Conquer and divide? Support Hillary to the extent that she doesn’t support him. Our work will be tedious the next four years, imo.
