I was checking out that site and looking in my state, zip code, I am not listed. Before all that work is done you need to find out if there are exceptions to the $2300 rule and if you go thorough the time and expense will anyone look at it or do anything. I am not saying it isn’t important, just that so many of our efforts never broke though those brick walls.

I can think of quite a few reasons Hillay might want to get the SoS job…
1- Not having to be around obie and traveling all over the world fixin’ stuff with the big dog.
2- Not being under Pelosi’s thumb, not listening to Barney mumble.
3- Not having to raise money for Democrats that stabbed her in the back.
4- Being able to be part of something bigger besides working as a Jr. senator in a committee…having clout but no power.

Murphy,here is a story that I found, which I know belong in the bibliography of first black feminist.
Sojourner Truth (1797–November 26, 1883) \Sojouner Truth was born into slavery in Swartekill, New York.
Her best-known speech, Ain’t I a Woman?, was delivered in 1851 at the Ohio Women’s Rights Convention in Akron, Ohio.
This is her speech in modern dialect
Sojourner Truth, her first language being Dutch, spoke in a dialect that is perhaps difficult for the modern reader.
The following is the speech rendered in a modern dialect:
Well, children, where there is so much racket there must be something out of kilter. I think that ‘twixt the Negroes of the South and the women at the North, all talking about rights, the white men will be in a fix pretty soon.
But what’s all this here talking about?

Let me know what you find out. As I understand it, the $2300 is the limit the BO Campaign Fund recieve from an individual. If spouces are included that can be $4600.
When I looked at the A’s in Florida, I found 5 donors $4900-$8900, about 35 donors $4000 -$4600 and 10 donors $2300 – $4000. Once the questionable name is found throught the Opensecrets Search, I go back to the FEC and search the name for the details about the origin and the spouce. I have not checked them all but a pattern has already emerged.
I am going to work on it some more tomorrow evening.

FYI,
SOS position is a lackey for the PRESIDENT. SOS must do THAT ONE’s BIDDING 24/7, be under THAT ONE’S THUMB 24/7, and call in to THAT ONE probably 20 times a day.
Hillary, as SOS, would undermine our fight against this administration because many of her followers would see it as an attack on her. Furthermore, and this is important to mention, her being PART of his team lends him HER credibility–a real slap in the face to those of us who fought the hard fight.
That being said, she can do anything she wants to do because I’m not waiting around for her. I like the old Hillary, the new one has CHANGED and I’m not drinking HILLAID either.
Unless is will make me forget everything I have ever known and everything I must know in the future, because it just keeps getting worse

My sister, the buddhist, told me that online discourse of the type on KPFT is beneath her and beneath us. I told her that it just sucks that KPFT is supposed to be FREEDOM radio for the underdog. I laughed A LOT and thought PUMA wiped up….but it did depress the hell out of me (do NOT go the ubersite and hear the remix as it will just set you off; one thing is for sure they will be here lurking and GOOD because they need to read some truth now and again)
This just proves my point that liberal is normally not good for women–normally just a pro-sex agenda that is no more egalitarian than conservative. We need RADICAL PROGRESSIVE (term I came up with) and that means CHANGE NOW (and no I will not allow THAT ONE to co-opt my words). I want equality, I want fairness, and I want justice right now. Mountainsong, after you stuff yourself with Turkey on Thurday November 21st what have you got planned for your 65th birthday.
Clubbing, dancing and flaunting how great you look for a 65 year old.
Many young people tell me that I do not look my age also, but I tell them this is what a 50 year old women looks like and if I look good now, imagine how beautiful you will look when you turn 50. Of course that was 14 years ago!
I have always revealed my age and never quit understood when people would say they were 10 years younger. I guess I have always believed in to thine own self be true, at least!
I enjoy telling younger women my age, I find it does not make them feel so anxious about getting older.

If anyone asks me, my poll vote would be for Hillary to stay in the Senate and not get mixed up with BO for all the reasons you give. If she’s focused on her own career or even her domestic issues, I’d think she’d stay in the Senate.
To look at the other side, what reasons might pull her to take the job…. This situation is different than campaigining for BO or accepting VP. No one is putting that kind of pressure on her. If she takes it, it will be for good reasons of her own, which we can only guess at.
She has said that chances of her running for Pres again are ‘near zero’ — and that may have been before Nov 4. So she may see it as nothing much to lose. I’ve been assuming that if she gives up her Senate seat she couldn’t or wouldn’t get it back, or anything comparable; but she may have moves we don’t know about.
Scary, maybe she thinks some world situaiton is more important than the domestic economy or longterm legislation, and wants to keep Obama from starting WWIII. What you sketched is the conventional view of the SOS position. But what if she used that conventional view to cover her taking the bit between her own teeth and going out and saying “Well, you know, this morning I talked to President Obama and he instructed me–” And then announcing just exactly what SHE wants to do. So what can he do? Come out and deny it? Accuse her of misquoting him? He’d look ridiculous. In fact he’d have to follow her lead (especially when he saw what a good reaction it got). If she got really determined, she could make him HER puppet.
People talk about SOS putting her on the world stage, which seems redundant to me: She’s already GOT a place on the world stage. But maybe the world stage is also a safety net, a place to step into if she ever for whatever reason gives up on the US.
Could be, that in any SOS teamwork between her and Obama, he’s the one with a lot to lose, and she’s got the freedom of nothing more to lose….
And there’s also the ‘Clinton Restoration without the Clintons’ going, Obama naming good Clintonistas to his own staff and cabinet. (Including, I hope, the Clintons’ excellent Treasury Secretary, Larry Summers.)

Actually, it’s Nov 27. Thanksgiving Day, this year. I’m not sure what I’ll be doing, aside from being grateful. lol

Last time, 2 weeks ago, a yong girl in her 20’s pulled me off the stool and onto the dancefloor. We dance about 3 songs, or so. When she found out I’m as old as her grandma she wouldn’t dance with me again. LOL

I hear what you are saying Turned, but it is CLASSIC bait and switch and usually the woman who runs over to their side is called a traitor.
that being said, HONESTLY it will hurt me (me personally because of what I feel), but I am not interested in what Hillary does or does not do. I am concerned with what I do, and what PUMA does….
However, let me give you an example of where my heart/brain is on this. If Murphy announced tomorrow that she was going to go run the blog for NOBAMA would you give her an ‘out’ saying that she was going to do it so she could keep an eye on him?

This was the eye-opening book, the manifesto, the “click” that happened when you suddenly saw your situation from the outside and realized the deck was stacked. It was divided into sections by topic, politics, psychology, sexuality, lesbians…so you could start with something you were interested in and work into the other stuff that was more difficult or controversial later.This is probably really dated, birth control was new at the time, but it was a classic.
I don’t know that I’m recommending (since it’s out of print) so much as putting it out there for discussion since it was so influential.

Here is Century of Struggle, the history of the battle for the vote by Eleanor Flexner. The version I read was much older with a different cover. For me this is required reading and I see someone else reviewed it by saying “required reading” too. I would worry that it isn’t dumbed down enough for today’s crowd though. At least this one has stayed in print.

I would like to recommend a women’s science fiction trilogy which I read decades ago. The books are:
Native Tongue
Judas Rose
Earthsong
The topside of this series concerns women linguists who are interpreters – between human & non-human species. These women are members of a great family of linguists, in an oppressive male-dominated society. The interesting premise underneath the top story is about how the females communicate – in a language by women, for women. They invented their own language to express the perceptions & experiences that are peculiar to women. In the last book of the trilogy, the story revolves around this language itself, and how language has the power to change life.
The author is Suzette Haden Elgin, a linguist better know for “The Gentle Art of Verbal Self-Defense”. Here is a snippet of the Wikipedia article on her:
She is a supporter of feminist science fiction, saying “women need to realize that SF is the only genre of literature in which it’s possible for a writer to explore the question of what this world would be like if you could get rid of [X], where [X] is filled in with any of the multitude of real world facts that constrain and oppress women. Overlying themes in her work include feminism, linguistics and the impact of language, and peaceful coexistence with nature.

I remember shortly after having my first born, a strong realization that my life was no longer mine. That sense of responsibility weighed heavily upon my mind.
But that did not stop me from having another wonderful child.
I am truly blessed with my children, they never gave me a pound of troubles or worries. A few ounces of trouble here and there, of course, but that is all part of their becoming adults

I live not too far from the house where Alice Paul grew up. Today I have been looking up Alice Paul info while at work.

My library has a lot of source material that may not only help put together more information about Alice Paul but also about her tactics.
From my reading today, it appears that Murphy and others here, all ready have one essential ingredient that inspired Alice Paul to keep moving : a strong sense of right and justice and fairness, and the resolve to keep talking about it no matter what happens.
Alice Paul knew when to keep her mouth closed and knew when to open it.
I’ve read a first hand account of Paul sitting quietly while a male opposer tried to rile her, only to rile himself up into a state of nonsense. Sitting quietly while women told her why they could not work with her, then after running in circles of logic, worn down by their own words, she would put them to work, putting stamps on letters etc. Next thing the knew they were fully committed. Paul lay in jail, hunger strike, silent but when someone would ask why, she was articulate and persuasive.
The author described Alice Paul as “panther like” as she waited for someone’s response to wind down on their own arguments.
I thought…”panther like” = PUMA!
In a very short time I have become a great fan of Alice Paul. On other issues we would not have agreed but on the one very important issue of woman’s right to vote…I admire her tremendously.
Puma’s can learn a great deal from Alice Paul but I think the biggest lesson is to focus on what is most important and do not deviate.
We certainly did that during the election. It was not enough but it was a start. We have just begun to fight.
In a sense I see the evidence that so many people who voted for Obama had no clue who he is and they voted according to their lack of knowledge or the basis of the MSM reporting it seems to me that we have two big focuses. Taking down the MSM and spreading knowledge about the Obama trash backing him up.

Libby I have seen the movie and I believe it is the type of movie, that young teenage girls especially should be obligated to view in order to understand the bravery of historical women, as part of their social studies.

These were the same hands that mastered penmanship at Trail Creek School and pressed linen for Sunday dinner.
When a weakened heart took her mother in her eleventh year, it was Mary Ellen’s hands that chopped and churned and pressed and scrubbed while her brothers fed and herded and branded and harvested. They kept The Ranch alive while Dad’s office took him to town and away from them. It was the Great Depression. Dad had a steady income. They never wanted for food on their table. They were grateful.
When the leaders of the time called for a World War to stop the tyranny in a foreign land, it was Mary Ellen’s hands that hid her anguish on Christmas Day 1944, when a ship lost in the English Channel took her closest and most beloved brother.
When she came of age, and her father sent her to the university (finishing school), it was Mary Ellen’s hands that earned her degree and set the stage for a teaching career that spanned over four decades. During those early years my mother was free of the domestic servitude of her youth. She sewed the seeds of travel and adventure and romance, especially during the summer of 1948, as my sister and I have recently discovered.
Torn between adventure and providence, my mother’s decision to stay single or marry might have gone either way, but adventure rarely won over providence for the infants of the Great Depression. I’ve wondered where my sister and I might have found Life had my mother surrendered to her wanderlust.
Mary Ellen gave her hand to a man who was neither a politician nor a rancher. She married a salesman. He was a handsome lad whose rawness and charisma often pulled rank over her common sense. When a bus and an icy winter road put my father in a body cast and nearly broke his Spirit, it was Mary Ellen’s hands that sustained us.
Ours was a house overflowing with vegetation. Mary Ellen’s hands filled our windows with blooming African Violets and thumped the lids of Ball jars to be sure they sealed the peaches she had just canned, grown on the trees she tended. Year after year, her garden fed us, and produced an abundance of zucchini, and rhubarb. Every year there was too much zucchini and too much rhubarb. Way too much zucchini and rhubarb… This was an unconscious tradition.
My mother was a master seamstress. The sheer volume of thread Mary Ellen’s fingers commanded would surely circle the globe. When I attached the left sleeve to the right armhole at a thousand stitches per inch, it was my mother’s mastery of the seam ripper that quieted my teenage huff, and gave me a second chance to do it right. There were many times during those years when Mary Ellen’s hands undid the damage of my rush to completion.
When it was my turn to give Life, it was Mary Ellen’s hands that gave my newborn her first independence by severing the cord that bound her to me. As the doctors finished their work, I watched as my little one grasped my mother’s index finger. It was as if they both knew that touching each other would complete a sacred cycle.
Mary Ellen’s hands had been at the wheel of a car only three weeks earlier. Now in her eighty-fifth year and like her mother, her heart had weakened. She and some Great Power had decided this was time that her hands should rest. Those of us facing the void of Life without her were grateful for having had so much time. Still… Time took her too soon. It was still too soon.
In my mother’s final moments, we caressed and stroked and kissed and patted her hands and she was very comfortable basking in this attention. Perhaps we were desperately trying to return the decades of love her hands had given us. Admittedly, we wanted to soak up the beauty of the Life within Mary Ellen’s hands while we still had the chance. As I held one, I searched for words to bridge the gap created by sadness and my own wanderlust. I prayed to know what my mother might need at that moment. The answer came. “Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women…” Yes. She squeezed my hand.
In a now quiet room, the rays of a new morning blinded me. This was the first day in my nearly fifty years of Life, that Life did not have my mother in it. As I fiddled with a curl to style her hair as she would want it; I glanced at my own hand, now the custodian of the diamond that illuminated her mother’s hand on the day Mary Ellen was born. In that moment, a light shadow appeared. A light shadow of that same beautiful hand superimposed itself over my hand. At that moment, I knew for sure that Life has no choice but to go on. Now in my own hand, I saw generations of history and the Life of the one who had given Life to me. Yes. In that moment, I was again blessed by the touch of Mary Ellen’s hand.

Walker’s The Woman’s Encyclopedia of Myths and Secrets.At first glance this one looks like it’s way out there, and you say to yourself “Oh I have that reference and what she’s saying isn’t in there”, then you pull your copy off the shelf to make sure and it’s in there all right–down in a foot note–you just never connected the dots.

Tall order. The frequencies are controlled and “sold” by the FCC, I think. And to reach the nation or any large area you need network affiliation.
There are two possibilities:
1) Buy a station with existing bandwidth rights (many stations are struggling, so it might be possible)
2) Use internet radio more extensively; you can create a station on-line that is always accessible. But it of course reaches only those who have Web access.

An equally interesting series is the Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey, still going strong at 82 (in Mass.). If you haven’t read them yet, I DEEPLY envy you the experience. (The series is in rough order as published, but some of the later ones are prequels and parallel narratives. All are superb.)
Another cat-friendly series with a heroine focus is the Honor Harrington series by David Weber. Her cat is a sentient empath/telepathic “treecat”, about bobcat size but much deadlier than even a puma! Another series I wish had twice as many books.
And of course the dean (maven?) of female sf writers is Usula Leguin. Marion Zimmer Bradley is very prolific (“Darkover”), and is labelled explicitly feminist, though I can’t say I’ve noticed. Which is probably a measure of how masterful she really was.

Theresa didn’t seem to realize or understand what the 16% discrepancy in the vote totals was all about. Theresa, it basically means that when Lynette Long did the mathematical calculation, there were 16% more votes than people that voted.
If possible, I think what Jennifer is doing is a necessary Public Service making people aware (in Texas) of how their votes were manipulated to produce a specific result..

I haven’t been to Lynette’s site, but Donna Brazile was quite open about allocating more delegates to black districts for being “loyal.” The mechanism was that the districts that had voted more heavily Democratic in the last election, would get more delegates in the next election. She said that if blacks voted in concert nationwide, they could control the nomination. Iirc this is on a tape at C-SPAN.

Anyway he was good but he made another interesting argument. well I call it argument. Maybe we can call it a statement. he said that

Citizen
Born Citizen
Natural Born Citizen
This shows the purpose of the words and why Native is important. Obama likes to confuse issues and sometimes uses the term Native born citizen to try to confuse it with Natural born citizen. For me this helps to knock home the meaning of Narual Born Citizen. I hope Leo Donofrio wins his case before SCOTUS.

Hi all, just dropped in to apologize for not participating more lately, I took a bad fall last week and it hurts me to sit here long. Also will be having back suirgery again in the near future, dreading that!
But I wanteed to say that I’m glad we picked the Cherokee morning song for our new day, I love the song and the images it invokes. Gotta head for bed now, try and check in tomorrow.
