Saturday: Volunteers Needed

by murphy on November 15, 2008

in Action, H.O.U.N.D., Join us!, M.I.L.K., Prop Hate, Puma PAC, teh BOIZ

Good morning Puma Nation, today is a new day!

And the news is not good. That’s why we need volunteers.

This story from Canada is horrible and disturbing. (h/t to TT) Three volunteers are needed to organize a response to this story. The first step is to decide HOW to respond. Contact the local prosecutor’s office to demand the crime be treated as a hate crime? Phone calls to the local media? Next will be putting those plans into action with PROWLS and updates.

Join the Impact rallies are happening all across the counry today to protest Proposition Hate in California. Find your state here and Join the Impact. (h/t to MKfromLA). Post pictures of the event you attend in comments. I’ll be in Boston at City Hall today at 1:30pm, JOIN me and several other Boston area Pumas!

NOW is voicing meek and mild objection to the lack of visible women in obama’s new administration. Some news outlets are beginning to pick up on the story. Help give this story legs AND beat back the misogyny on the web by commenting HERE and encouraging readers to join Puma PAC by dropping our web address, www.pumapac.org, in your comment. (h/t to notyoursweetie)

Here’s a glimpse at some of the more typical comments:

“Talk about the silly season. I really can’t stand it when ‘womens groups’ blahter about uterine quotas… from someone that has continually demonstrated the ability to hire on the basis of quality… Not whether you are black, white, male or female.

The man has made 4 official announcements… Rahm, David and David and Valerie. That’s it. So, lets get the best person for the job.. period. I don’t care if they are women or not. And.. I have girl parts. So get over it! Let the man do the job we elected him to do.. and either help get it done, or get out of the way!” from yorkieleftie

“We only have to consider Sarah Palin to realize that qualifications are more important than sex. Let’s not made the same mistake McCain made.” from 3primecubed

and another from the lovely 3primecubed:

“Women’s groups do NOT speak for ALL women. Women make up the largest subgroup of American voters. If women cared about this issue, they would be organized and vote together as a block. They are NOT organized and do NOT vote together. This proves that most women are happy with their lot in life. As a result, women deserve what they get. Women are extremly diverse. The idea that one woman or a women’s group represents other woman is a myth. I refuse to think that a few militant women represent the rest of us.” (oh lord)

And, Keith Olbermann is at it again, this time fantaisizing about Sarah Palin being stabbed to death and cut up into little pieces. Puma PAC is organizing a Fire Keith Olbermann movement for his blatant and ceaseless misogyny. Chris CRACKLE Matthews may be a sexist pig, but KO is a misogynistic freak of scary proportions. We need VOLUNTEERS. At least 5, but 10 would be better, to work on 3 teams: Research, Action, and Outreach. PLEASE let us know in comments that you can volunteer for one of these teams. This will be a sustained effort, so the more hands we have the more likely we will be to succeed.

Come on Pumas. it’s time to put down the depodency, despair, and depression and GET TO WORK!  We’ll never get anywhere by hiding and mourning. Let’s have 20 volunteers to help with one or more of the 4 issues above by 11:00am eastern time!

This coming year should be called “THe Year of the Chicago Political Maching” period. They are just taking their dirty
laundry to a new location.

Regarding Keith Olbermann, you do know he just signed a new contract with MSNBC, don’t you? I think they like the controversy/publicity he brings to them.

http://tvdecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/11/10/msnbc-olbermann-renew-contract/?hp

“The announcement came less than two years into Mr. Olbermann’s current four-year deal. MSNBC essentially tore up his February 2007 contract (reported to be worth up to $4 million a year) and wrote a new one, according to two employees with knowledge of the agreement. The new contract is valued at about $7.5 million a year, one of the people said.”

Acid thrown in the faces of two Afghan schoolgirls as they walk to school
By MAIL FOREIGN SERVICE
Last updated at 9:32 AM on 13th November 2008

These are the horrifying burns left on the faces of two Afghan schoolgirls after two men on motorbikes threw acid on them outside their Kandahar school.

The girls, sisters aged 16 and 14, have been hospitalised. It is said that their attackers removed their head scarves before pouring the acid onto their faces.

Four other girls walking to school with them at the time managed to escape with lighter injuries and have already been released from hospital.

Good Morning, PUMAs. Back from lurking mode – can’t really sit and blog while I’m at work (too bad). But I’ve been keeping up with things.

As a Librarian, I’d be glad to help out with research, though I think we also need to organize a group that’s able to respond to such threats as these “volunteer” camps should they become a reality. Sort of like a watch group that’s not focused on one particular issue, but rather looks for all potential threats to our civil liberties from this administration.

I’ve been speaking to people this week and I notice above all else a fear that people have about what is coming. I’ve had the feeling that this is the first election and the first president-elect who has elicited such fear.

An article today in the American Thinker says as much:

Obama: Fear and the Security Force

http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/11/obama_fear_and_the_security_fo.html

murphy 11.15.08 at 10:36 am

rabblerouser, that’s GREAT! You are hereby on the Research Team! Who will work with rabblerouser to research KO and related stories/information?

Come on Pumas, we neeeed you!!!

and p.s. You do NOT need to be a regular commenter to volunteer — LURKERS wanted. Just pop in to say you’ll help with one or more areas! come on Lurkers!

The only handicap I have is that my cable company (Comcast) stopped including MSNBC in our package, so we have to pay extra for it, and since I think they stink as journalists, I refuse to pay extra for it, so I am blissfully MSNBC free!

Keith Olbermann had a bad reputation with females long before this election. Randy Rhoads (who I used to listen to her) said that she would not go anywhere near his show because of the stories she heard about him from his female staffers.

21

Andy Martin is making a very strong argument on the Birth Certificate in Hawaii. I like this one. You can read his entire write up to the court on the internet. He is due in court on Tuesday 18th.

here is the interesting paragraph. there may be more. I have only read up to this point.

C. Obama’s waiver
Obama delivered a purported “original” copy of his COLB to FactCheck.org, and apparently other Internet media as well, see Exhibit B. Clearly, what Obama claimed was not true. The document he produced was not even remotely a copy of the original, typewritten 1961 paper in Dr. Fukino’s possession. Having (i) released what he claimed was the “original,” and (ii) having been found to have dissembled, Obama has waived any objections to release of the “real” original document.
In the words of Justice Lewis, Obama cannot be allowed to “blow hot” and then use the defendants as a beard to “blow cold.” He claimed his COLB was an “original,” when in fact it was a modern, laser-printed facsimile of official records (an “abstract”) and not even remotely a copy of the 1961 typewritten original. Since Obama has purported to disclose the “original,” he has placed the defendants’ copy of the “actual” original in the public domain for comparative purposes.
The defendants are now estopped from asserting that access should be denied to the 1961 typewritten original when Obama has expressly claimed that he published his “original” on the Internet, see Exhibit B (“FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate

http://contrariancommentary.blogspot.com/

Notice he argues that Obama on the internet claims he released the ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE. Therefore since he made it public he has no claim to hide it any more.

pretty nice argument. Berg should try this at the Supreme Court level. also Donofrio from New Jersey is at the Supreme Court level and will actually maybe present first.

Keith Olberman’s new contract is exactly what galls me about BO being given the prez election. All his rabid supporter media punks will be rewarded.

25

clintondemocrat 11.15.08 at 11:00 am

since when did factcheck.org become the sole power to authenticate documents or anything else related to politics. Why can’t a judge see it? Factcheck.org is a private sector organization that should be a secondary contributing member but not the sole proprietor of information validation.

26

gypsy rebel 11.15.08 at 11:03 am

clintondemocrat Isn’t factcheck.org a part of move-on.org? I believe that somehow, someway they are closely in cahoots with each other!

27

clintondemocrat 11.15.08 at 11:05 am

I don’t know their connection or not to moveon.org

Im just very very weary of the media validating their information through factcheck.org

even if they’re non-profit, they have to get their money to operate from somewhere. All non-profit’s have an agenda and are financially backed by someone.

28

clintondemocrat 11.15.08 at 11:07 am

This gets back to an independent media. I think there needs to be a national education on the role of the independent media and the fact it is spelled out in the constitution.

I don’t like this reliance on un named sources and I consider factcheck.org to be essentially an unnamed, unreliable source.

Do we have a prowl set up for this yet?

Rabblerouser I do know you can put links on GretaWire. Sometimes the blog moves pretty rapidly, so it is more effective if some of our information gets on there throughout the day. She gets alot of bloggers! Pros and Cons!

The American Thinker is a great site, but seems to attract more conservatives – need to let everyone know I guess. I post it when I can! The article you mentioned is one that would shake up That One’s base alittle!!

34

clintondemocrat 11.15.08 at 11:17 am

I don’t think you can solely blame the universities. only 1:5 people, as of 2003, had a college degree. So, I think there is something more fundamental than that. I think with the emergence and establishment of cable news networks and the increasing reliance of obtaining information from sources such as John Stewart and Stephen Colbert as well as even shallower sources such as Jay Leno and David letterman coupled with the capability to obtain “personalized” media that conforms strictly to your beliefs that a dumbing down of society has occured.

Furthermore, the media, especially cable media, is serving as this perverse form of “reality TV.” They don’t report the news, they don’t investigate and present facts, they make stories that will obtain viewers in order to satisfy a certian threshold for their sponsors.

So, this gets into the fine line between what is healthy for a democracy? Should our information be controlled by private companies that pay the media or should we have some tax payer based system. Of course you can argue about the availability of “independent” or “alternative” media sources but the reality is that unless it’s on CNN, FOX, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC then it doesn’t exist.

The American Thinker is in fact a conservative blog. What I found real interesting is in talking to people this week and last, is a lot of people who are downright fearful, are democrats, independents, and generally people who are NOT conservtive. And this article states that, too. Which is what scares me all the more!

36

I called Direct TV and asked to have MSNBC removed from my cable and that I didn’t wish to pay a monthly fee with them included. I didn’t get anywhere, so will probably have to write a letter or something!

Have you all seen the 2008 international “Gender Gap” report?

U.S. is ranked #27.

We can eliminate rhetoric and pretty words the average American doesn’t use! You know, “do you want to WORK for your college loan?”

As a Librarian, one of things I am mandated to do is to provide ALL points of view in my library. Whatever my political leanings are, if I have a biography, say of John McCain, I should also have one of BO. If I have a book presenting cons against abortion, I should have one presenting pros for abortion. I don’t see why the media can’t do this too. They too should be mandated to present both sides of an issue and let the public decide.

However, there has been a real dumbing down of America through the education system. Very leftist, one sided views have dominated univeristy education for 30 years. And the stress is on one-sided. What has been taught in the universities during this time is that Capitalism is evil, Democracy is evil because of such a democratic nation like America has been hypocritical (preaches tolerance but had slavery, for ex.) is imperialistic (most of our wars) and is generally corrupt and should be replaced by a more humane, socialistic philosophy.

Many if not all of the people who rule the media have come out of these universities and have been exposed to these ideas which among young people are very, very acceptable.

I was talking to one of my former students yesterday (she’s now 22) and she doesn’t see anything wrong with BO’s civilian work force or whatever it is. She thinks people should give back to their communities by being forced to do it if necessary. She also doesn’t see anything wrong with socialism and thinks democracy and capitalism to some extent have failed.

well it’s not just about social issues. What’s interesting is that after the election, I spoke to a friend in South Dakato – she’s an older woman who doesn’t even own a computer. Without me saying anything she basically said everything we PUMAs have been saying about BO – which leads me to think this information is in fact getting out somehow, even to those not on the internet.

You have to consider that there’s going to be a segment of people who will disregard anything you show them – the well documented truth can be staring them in the face and they just won’t believe it.

I don’t know about that. I’m in Vermont and Vermont IS a socialist state. For the most part Vermonters (are dumb) but are kind to one another and there’s a tradition of volunteerism up here. Our students have to do 40 hours of community service each of their 4 years in order to graduate. The first year I was here, the Senior class got together and gave the teachers a “gift” to show their appreciation for what we had done for them over their high school career – they built a much needed walkway from the teachers parking lot to the entry, so it would be easier for us to get into the building particularly when it was bad weather.

Now, I’m originally from NY and I was floored to see these 17 and 18 year olds out there every monthing for two weeks at 7am working on this sidewalk!

If this is the sort of “socialism” and volunteerism and community service BO is hoping for, then its not bad. However, these are Vermonter; I just don’t see a lot of the hard core urban teenagers whose community and families have not tradition of this at all, suddenly becoming like these Vermonters! And that’s not a racist statement.

1. Who we should do the prowl to.
2. Any links to support our argument.

For example, the Canadian police are trying to decide whether this should be prosecuted as a hate crime. Let’s get the names of everyone who would make that decision and then send them links such as the one I posted about the organization Human Rights First that considers violence against LGBT persons to be a hate crime.

The last thing, is collect the name of blogs where we can disseminate this information.

They too should be mandated to present both sides of an issue and let the public decide.

well it’s not just about social issues. We have let the media get off with putting talking head A, Talking head B, and Consultant talking head C and battle it out for 1 minute and 30 seconds on issues. Im talking about reporting, and asking questions. Like the whole birth certificate issue. That is an issue that should be in front of voters.

73

mesofreee 11.15.08 at 12:26 pm

Sometimes people are blind to things that affect others, even themselves, until they are faced with it head on.

My suggestion is to use reverse psychology and covertly go on these sites as women haters, that is a good and quick way to stir up resistance to the hate. Make them come face to face with it.

For instance, say that women like being subjugated by men. That women need to be controlled. I would say even going to far as suggesting women like rape, or being beaten. Or that women who get out of line deserve what they get.

I believe going on “Democrat” sites and blogging against women will stir their defenses.

sistermoon, do a search on brainwashing by obama…its a 67 pg. report that explains just how obama brainwashed people when was on the stump. It said one of the obvious clues that a person has been brainwashed is they get very nasty if you bring up the subject. Also there are key words when they hear them, they become aggitated. Its really interesting article. So don’t take it personal if those obamanites jump down your throat. Just stear clear of them. they will not change their mind.

God I wish just one thing wrong about obama would come out and nail him to the cross. just one thing!!//

27

clintondemocrat 11.15.08 at 11:05 am

I don’t know their connection or not to moveon.org

Im just very very weary of the media validating their information through factcheck.org

even if they’re non-profit, they have to get their money to operate from somewhere. All non-profit’s have an agenda and are financially backed by someone.//
===========
From TexasDarlin’:

Factcheck.org, used as a resource by so many who wish to “debunk” negative coverage of Obama, is also a Division, or Project, of the Annenberg Foundation.

You’ll recall that Factcheck was the second site to publish the now-suspect Certificate of Live Birth (COLB) reportedly received from the Obama campaign.

[The Annenberg Foundation and family has an interesting history that we may examine in more detail.]

Are you familiar with the site , which I have just reviewed, GovTrack.us ? Please go to it, if you are not and review it. Ihave begun to look at the info there on this act and I like their organization, as well as the fact that one can get regular emails tracking bills..Will appreciate your analysis of this site with particular regard to this bill….
This is an independent and from what I have reviewed so far seems to be so…check it out…let me know what you think, OK?

95

NewOrleansPuma 11.15.08 at 2:36 pm

Scarlet: This GovTrack.us site uses THOMAS and has added some features which may be useful as we track this bill..one of which is a capacity to write a piece re the legislation and to ask uestions to be ansswered by others…supposedly about 10,000 users use it a day and it also lists numbers of people who are tracking various legislation.s

My thought is with two separtate sites revealing information re status and relationship of bill where it is where it has gone, etc. we will have an even more timely capacity to have our fingers on this bill. GovTrack.US indicates it is about 24 hours after movements of bills etc and usually has roll call votes on same day. I do not depend on any one source for anything which is why this site and THOMAS may useful used concomittantly when necessary.

I will be leaving for a little while now but will be back.
will appreciate it if you have had the time to let me know your cursory comments re the GovTrack. us.

There are some things that are time sensitive, like getting the Canadian assault to be upgraded to a hate crime.

I don’t know how the legal system works there, but in NYC, you would first want to apply pressure to the DA’s office (actual DA), and then find out who the prosecutor is–then appply pressure there, and also put pressure on the mayor, and storm the media.

Hi Everyone, In browsing this thread and comments, just what do you want the volunteers to do? Dig up info? Count me in. I just posted this comment on NotYourSweetie about Women in O’s Admin and the cowering NOW:

Isn’t it ironic that what may be the sole “token” woman, will be Valerie Jarrett. How did she pass his vetting process? Here’s a little bio on her from Judicial Watch:

“Documents linking Valerie Jarrett, an advisor to Barack Obama and the co-chairman of the President-Elect’s transition team, to a series of real estate scandals, including several housing projects operated by convicted felon and Obama fundraiser/friend Antoin “Tony” Rezko.

According to the documents obtained by Judicial Watch from the Illinois Secretary of State, Valerie Jarrett served as a board member for several organizations that provided funding and support for Chicago housing projects operated by real estate developers and Obama financial backers Rezko and Allison Davis. (Davis is also Obama’s former boss.)

(According to press reports, housing projects operated by Davis and Rezko have been substandard and beset with code violations. The Chicago Sun Times reported that one Rezko-managed housing project was “riddled with problems — including squalid living conditions…lack of heat, squatters and drug dealers.”)

As Chief Executive Officer of the Habitat Company Jarrett also managed a controversial housing project located in Obama’s former state senate district called Grove Parc Plaza. According to the Boston Globe the housing complex was considered “uninhabitable by unfixed problems, such as collapsed roofs and fire damage…In 2006, federal inspectors graded the condition of the complex an 11 on a 100-point scale – a score so bad the buildings now face demolition.” Ms. Jarrett refused to comment to the Globe on the conditions of the complex.

“Like Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett is a product of the corrupt Chicago political machine. And it is no stretch to say that she was a slumlord,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “We have real concerns about Jarrett’s ethics. Washington already has plenty of corruption. We don’t need to import more of it from Chicago.”

And Obama’s vetting Sen. Clinton? What gall! I think NOW, Gloria Steinem, and other so-called women libbers, better slither back into their snake-pit. Too little, too late. What wimps! But then, again, crawl in bed with the devil and you deserve what you get. The bad part is, by their support of Obama, they’re taking true feminists down with them!

I’m Steinem’s age, and I’m hoppin’ mad at them and Obama.

Obama’s word is just that. “Words, just words…….”

(Sorry for the long post, but I just had to show the hypocrisy in Obama’s vetting process)

“About one out of seven female veterans of Afghanistan or Iraq who visit a Veterans Affairs center for medical care report being a victim of sexual assault or harassment during military duty, a study reports today.”

From Cnn: WASHINGTON (CNN) — A congresswoman said Thursday that her “jaw dropped” when military doctors told her that four in 10 women at a veterans hospital reported being sexually assaulted while in the military.”

From AP:
WASHINGTON (AP) _ A review by the Department of Veterans Affairs
finds that women veterans aren’t receiving the same quality of
outpatient care as men at about one-third of its facilities.

From NYTimes Op/ed (author Helen Benedict)
“Nearly a third of female veterans say they were sexually assaulted or raped while in the military, and 71 percent to 90 percent say they were sexually harassed by the men with whom they serve.”

I have some good news! Fritzy is moving around, ran out of the house,
ate some grass when i came home from shopping, went around to the side of the house and went poop, rolled in the dirt. I brought him in and he ate some beef and gravy, (has not eaten for a couple of days) and he went into the bedroom and ate some of his crunches. I am jumping up and down and saying what a good boy and he looks at me like, “what the problem”, no big deal.

yeah right I gave him 200 ml of electrolytes again this morning, laxatone, and i put him in the laundry room, he slept in the basket until mummy came home from shopping. I bought him some pumpkin, which ill try to feed to him later.

it must have been everyone’s prayers. but the inevidentable (sp.)which this thing had spell check) has to be taken care of the surgery but at least he is getting back to his old self which pleases mummmy immensely. :) )

I rewarded myself by heating up some apple pie and coffee. In fact, I’m going for another piece. :) ) thank you all for your prayers.

I am a Republican who would have voted for Hillary. I think that we should have had a woman in the President’s office by now. I would have voted for Hillary because she is a woman and has worked hard to gain the experience she needed to do the job. There are issues that Hillary and I disagree on, BUT, she is a woman.

Hi Woodie… I’m here reading- just don’t care to post. I don’t like being called something I’m not. I’m really glad that Fritzy is back to being his ol’ self again! I LOVE animals.. in many ways they are so much better than people!!! My mom’s dad was cruel to animals. When he came into the barn the horses would snort and move away because of what he did to them out of cruelty. His sister, on the other hand (my mom’s aunt) was just the opposite. Thank God I inherited that from my mom’s aunt rather than from her father….

mountainsong, it’s one thing to be called something that you’re used to being called… when you’re called “sexist” when you’ve been for female rights all along… well… it sent shock waves up and down my spine. My post beginning on that where I said “I hate to say this but” was thinking of something that tells my age. I was thinking someone might think what I was saying was being what used to be called “catty”- meaning one female being critical of another female out of vindictiveness (sp?) or jealousy. I certainly never dreamed anyone would take it as “sexist”… and when I was attacked for that several times I went into shock.

If you’re not sick of me yet, the link below is a video report on a rally to support the assault victims. May be more than one, same link

In fact, when Hillary lost and they booted her out I called NYC CNN and I must have got lucky because they said that number your comments goes right to management and I gave it to them with both barrels. It was unforegiveable.

here’s my letter to the FCC

I have boycotted all news media CNN to FOX and all those in between and their advertisers.

They were so biased in this election for the past two years it wanted me to throw up.

Jouranalism as I understand it is supposed to be UNBIASED. I hated how they treated both

Hillary and Palin. Who in the hell do you think these people are to treat women like that.

I must remind you that women fight in Iraq in the military and we should get respect and equal

rights and we will.

And as far as your CNN and the lot of them they can all go to hell, because, I am going to get

TV on PC with 3,000 channels and they have atleast honest fair news.

FIND OUT WHETHER BARACK OBAMA IS A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN AS REQUIRED UNDER ARTICLE II OF THE U.S. CONSTITUTION AND STOP THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE FROM VOTING FOR HIM, IF HE’S NOT!

To: Concerned Americans
From: Team jbjd
Subject: How One Courageous Soldier Can Find Out Whether Barack Obama is a Natural Born Citizen under Article II of the U.S. Constitution and Stop the Electoral College from Voting for Him, if He’s Not
Date: November 15, 2008

Introduction

Almost everyone who paid attention to the Presidential election seems to know that under Article II of the U.S. Constitution, in order to be the President, you have to be a natural born citizen. But hardly anyone is aware there is no provision in either federal or state law that says anyone, anywhere, has to check. That’s right. Nothing. This means that, without your intervention, the man who ends up in the White House could be ineligible to be President, as a matter of law….

Rancho: My feeling is that even if all that comes out of this is the awareness that there is no postive law on the books to require the presentation of a valid BC when one seeks to qualify for the Presidency, and , as a result , a law is passed, which needs to be done, then, your interest and all others and your actions are very worthwhile…We need a federal law to implement the Constitutional Requirement and there is none. This sucker knew this and took as he did with everything else advantage of it…He is a dangersous sob ..and one that must be detered in all of his intended actions to implement the new socialist PLANTATION of which he is the Mastah!

180

NewOrleansPuma 11.15.08 at 5:36 pm

180KarenW: That is the issue that I indicated here and in other places a long time ago when the issue first was raised.
And we need a positive law to in fact at least in the future require presentation upon the attempt to apply for qualification.
I think we also need one, of course, for the Senate and Congress.

Some here don’t think this has much traction; I personally think we should try every avenue to try to get him; forcing this issue is similar to what he does and what Alinksy recommends in Rules for Radicals – overwhelm the system. If there could be lawsuits in every state, he’d sure be overwhelmed…

185

NewOrleansPuma 11.15.08 at 5:41 pm

Rabblerouser: And if not he, then as I indicated the issue of the need for a postive law to require presentation for qualification will be made all over the country. We are in for long haul protests and reform of what this regime seeks to do and this issue is important, absolutely important, given the number of illegal aliens are already here, given the push by this radical Socialist to give driver’s liscenses to illegal aliens, and given the fact that driver’s liscenses in a number of states are enough evidence to vote.
The entire integreity of our voter registration system, as well as checks on constitutional requirements for candidates as well as one’s right to vote in private have been totally un
dermined by this success of this man. And this is definitely the Alynsky way. This man is dangerous.

Hello Woodie,
I really like you. You speak so nicely about your kitty cat Fritzy. You sound very sweet and honest. I still want to organize the fund raiser for your ‘good boy’ Fritzy to cover some costs – perhaps we can find a less expensive vet – 2,500 is way high even for a complex surgery. So I created a new email account on yahoo – please see at the bottom of my post. Please email me. Also, jenniforhillary, sue66, PUMAbear, maybe KarenWI, maybe indy and others – please email me as well so that we can put our heads together and figure it out. I don’t want to do it on this site – Murphy might get upset. So we should take id ‘off line’ as they say.
Thank you for the link to the hypnosis story – I will read it now. I also agree with you about american jobs being outsorced oversees. I work in IT industry and feel the results of this every day. I have to compete with for instance H1B visa holders who come to the US, work for one third of the money, and then stay here forever illegally. Them, I can’t find a reasonably paid job so I have to travel around the globe. It is crazy!! Anyway I am in Germany now.
I am pleased to hear that you are from London – went there 3 years ago. Hope to hear from you and Pumas at the address below:

I don’t follow personal scuffles so I don’t know what’s been going on. I apologize if I’ve ever said anything to offend you!!!!

My impression was that you being so ‘out’ as a Republican in a pre-dominately, er, non-Repuplican forum, meant you were up for a little playful sparring now and then — all in service of better understanding of where people are coming from. I appreciated you giving the view from the GOP side about the 2000 vote recounts, for example. We’re certianly all in those moccasins this time.

PUMAs have been a centrist, independent, swing voter group since the beginning — because Hillary supporters came from all groups — but also including some GOP who came over as sympathizers (and from extreme disapproval of BO). If we’re going to continue to have influence, a big part of that will be our willingness to swing from one election to anohter. We need to be diverse, to include everyone who agrees on the major things (fair elections, centrism, non-sexism, etc). So the better we understand the issues that might divide us, the better for continuing diverse and viable.

I’ve certainly dropped a lot of prejudices against ‘Republiclans’ since seeing our own Dem leaders behaving so badly, and us not able to stop it!

To me, discussing our differences is a way to promote unity for the future. But if I’ve ever got too rough — pls forgive me!

comment from Uppity Woman on her blog

“…conservatives lost their way in the same way far left liberals lost their way. Both sets hijacked their parties. Conservative USED to mean Fiscally Responsible. Now it means stick your nose in everybody’s business and their bedrooms. Seriously, the far right religious zealots who want a theorcracy are no better than the far left communists. We spent decades fighting communism and now we are in the middle east fighting theocracies. Why the H would we want either here in the USA?

The moderates and fiscally responsible Repubicans need to take their party back like just us Democrats need to do it.”

(Yup, I agree)

indy 11.15.08 at 5:53 pm

This may be something we have to look into. While it seems innocuos, the people and entities involved raise my eyebrows a bit. OK, maybe more than a bit. Read a portion of it:

“A website launched Friday with the backing of technology industry and Hollywood elite urges people worldwide to help craft a framework for harmony between all religions.
The Charter for Compassion project on the Internet at http://www.charterforcompassion.org springs from a “wish” granted this year to religious scholar Karen Armstrong at a premier Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) conference in California.

“Tedizens” include Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin along with other Internet icons as well as celebrities such as Forest Whittaker and Cameron Diaz.

Wishes granted at TED envision ways to better the world and come with a promise that Tedizens will lend their clout and capabilities to making them come true.

The Council of Sages, a multi-faith, multi-national group of religious thinkers and leaders, will gather together and sort through all the world’s contributions. They will then mold the final version of the Charter for Compassion from those words. Here’s the members of the council:

Woodie 11.15.08 at 5:59 pm

Rablerouser…..I could take the COLB issue as I have been working with Berg and researching. I am from Hawaii. Lived there 20 yrs.
She told the state office, i had the baby at home, mid wife, so they gave her certificate of live birth. If he was born in the hospital, she would have received a hospital birth certificate right from them.
you see the difference. So if she brought him back from kenya a week later she got the COLB.

He has already shown his birth certificate on his web page but it is a fraud. why is it fraud because number one it does not have the hawaii seal you know that raised thing in the corner. Number two that border is a 2008 border not a 1961 border. They apparently are different.

Seeing he has already produced it, how can he be asked to produce something that has already been produced. redundant and of course it is a fraud.

The other thing to consider is he may be lying about his birth date.
1961. Hawaii did not become a state till 1959. Someone was saying he may have been older. If that is the case, done deal. His dead meat.

Number 3. That article about commander chief is going to fry him too, because theoretically beside the dying part because he is not legit the military doesn’t theoretically have to listen to him because he is not a US citizen.

196

KarenWI 11.15.08 at 6:02 pm

turndownobama… I don’t have a problem except for those who posted and accused me of being sexist because I asked if a photo of Hillary was either REALLY a bad angle or if they thought the stress of the election put on a couple pounds. I asked it in innocence and being accused of being sexist was, well, more than a shock here. I agree with NewOrleans that if this group wants to grow it might want to decide what things are absolutely non-negtiable and allow some “give” on all of the others. Because there are dems, repubs AND independents who are for and against abortion, IMHO I think that could be a negotiable. The same can be said about gay rights (sorry, I know I stepped on some toes by saying that, but I honestly think that since there are also DEMS who are not avid proponents of it, it might be worth a thought. I know there are dems who are against it becaue I live next door to several dozen here). However, I am not the one running this group and the thoughts I give here are just my own opinion. However, if there isn’t some “give” on some of these things, you are going to have trouble getting the size group you are hoping for… All that, however, is totally beside the point when it comes to me “licking my wounds”. In regard to that, I think it a good idea to not go attacking another PUMA who you know in the group, by sticking a label on them other than dem, repub, or independent.

i think we can nail him on the BC. Berg’s original motion was all wrong. he said his civil rights were affected or something like that. He should have made a motion that said flat out the president of the united states has to be an american natural born citizen period. ask arnold (ca governor). I am challenging mr. obama on that. I insist on him producing his long form certified birth certificate period. the fact that he won’t produce it says he is guilty and has something to hide.

boy those 2 pieces of apple pie were so good. what next?

NewOrleansPuma #177 I’ve been to Quebec once as well. Things are calmer there now. I’m a real news junkie and read papers from all over. If you ever want a peek at my neck of the woods, this is the link to our local paper, all 20 pages (on average) of it.

KarenWI I hope this means you are back. I really did miss your posts today. Sometimes we are way to quick to label and need to avoid it if at all possible.
How is the healing coming for you? Nose still good? At least I found out the cast on my arm does not need to be redone. Bad enough now. I’m not too bad at one hand typing now. Still awfully slow. Walking cast next week – yea!

turndownobama… I don’t have a problem except for those who posted and accused me of being sexist because I asked if a photo of Hillary was either REALLY a bad angle or if they thought the stress of the election put on a couple pounds. I asked it in innocence and being accused of being sexist was, well, more than a shock here
======================================

I skimmed all that, but in principle I agree that attacking someone for some remark as ‘racist’ or ’sexist’ is a very bad thing, particularly among allies! Iirc I was ranting about that about 12 hours ago. :-)

During the campaigns we saw what it was like being every moment scared of something we say being called ‘racist’. Now let’s not do the same thing to others (or each other!) with ’sexist.’ That’s why I feel so strongly about this kind of attack on Summers — the Clintons’ choice for their Treasury, whom they appointed in 1993 as Undersecretary and vetted through three confirmation processes/promotions. Calling Summers names is an insult to the Clintons.

this is a good thing. I have something to say. My feeling is we need to be diligent in the fact of finding something that will stick before Jan. 20th bottom line. Would you agree? I am addressing everyone.

As a law professor, who teaches at a prestigious university, you have access to some very fine legal minds (including yours of course). The depth of legal information that surrounds you is overwhelming. Amongst this huge golden pool of scholars, there must be someone who could hold the key to a successful law suit to see Obama’s vault birth certificate and to have him release all of his records.
Since you are a Puma, would you consider perhaps investigating and suggesting the effective action (that no one might have thought of) to follow in order to attain the correct decision – that of course being Obama has to show all of his records. It is very possible that even someone like Phil Berg might not be aware of such a finding or precedent. I would bet that he would pursue, with gusto, any other avenue that might be available to him. (This, of course, in the event that no one is successful with the present suits.)

I wonder if Obama and company feel that since there is no law stating that the candidate must show proof of his birth, etc., they are very content to just let this matter ride out. I find it so unfathomable that someone who might possibly have abused the legal system is now using that same system to legally escape his illegal activities.

Pumas, Pumas, Pumas,

Hasn’t anyone realized yet that Keith Oberman is gay and hates women?? Flame me if you must, but the truth is the truth.
