Madamab wrote a thoughtful and spot-on piece today about the opportunity we now have to grow our movement into a permanent, powerful voting bloc. How do we do that and what do we do as we’re doing it are the questions I’ve been obsessing about since last Tuesday.
I’m happy today (alright, I’m ALMOST happy today) because I’m beginning to understand the importance of our current position. Yes, we are in the ashes of the Democratic Party. As Democracy in Suffrage pointed out today, it was DEMOCRATS who gave the win to Proposition Hate. It was DEMOCRATS who turned their back on public financing, AND women, and the working class. We were the avant-garde in this election. Pumas have known for a LONG time how broken our party is and how PERNICIOUS the media is. We weren’t a big enough bloc to change the outcome of the election, but now we have one precious asset: TIME. We have time to build and grow. Time to put our talents and skills to use for our movement. Time to listen, learn, and lead.
As the Precious Presidency unravels (as I’m pretty sure it will), we will be building a media and political presence that will be a refuge and a resource to the increasingly huge number of citizens who are outraged and disillusioned by the Fraud.
Texas Tigress pointed out to me today that there are still MILLIONS of Demcocrats who voted for Clinton and either tepidly supported or outright rejected The One. Let’s start with ourselves. We’re still here, and my guess is we’ll keep growing as more and more Democrats come back to the traditional values of our party. Shucks, there are probably enough Americans out there sickened today by the idea of Michelle Obama as the Mom In Chief (her new ROLE according to the NYT today. OMG, pass the airsick bag.) to triple our ranks.
SO, Step One is to grow the Pumasphere. There are zillions of talented and committed Pumas reading these words who have something of value to contribute. I’ve updated the blogroll and will continue to do so. But there’s much more YOU can do.
Sheri and I talked last night about the new Puma Coalition — similar to the Just Say No Deal coalition which formed after Clinton’s suspension. Please visit it at www.votepuma.com and add your site to the blogroll by sending Sheri an email.
Here are the main areas we are going to focus on for the next year.
1. Media Critique. Chris CRACKLE Matthews says it’s the job of the SCFP to “help” obama. That’s a terrifying statement. Our job as Pumas is to wake people up to just how terrifying it is. We’re working on a Media Tatters website to serve as an alternative and a resource for those fleeing the CRACKLE. We need help. Will you help by reading, watching, and listening to the SCFP and alerting us to CRACKLE? The website is almost finished, but until then, please post links to CRACKLE in the CRACKLE Forum in the left sidebar.
2. President Precious Critique. The SCFP Love Fest will continue unabated. The Race Card WILL be played. The Puma Movement will be a constant thorn in the side of The Precious. And don’t accuse me of being a Hater. I’m not a hater. If obama becomes an effective, transformational, and inspiring president, well that’s great. I’m not holding my breath, and there needs to be someone and someplace where the Rose Colored Love Glasses are not worn. That’s us.
3. Democratic Party Reform. This is our most challenging job. Boy oh boy are we up against it in this department. The DONC is now firmly ensconced and the media is SWOONING, so it will take time to build leverage for this. The only entrenched power with the means and the motivation to help us is the Republican Party, and um, no thanks. SO, it’s up to us. This effort will build more slowly as the dust settles and we seek out and find allies.
What kind of skills and contributions are needed?
1. Researching
2. Writing
3. Organizing
4. Fundraising
The next weeks will be exciting ones as we start to pull our act together and get going. What can YOU help with? Let us know in comments.
And in the short term, Puma PAC will be participating in the Proposition Hate protests scheduled for November 15th. Please provide any links you have to information about the protests in comments.
And here’s a happy song to make you smile. I’ll be posting a Happy Song every day until I get a damn smile out of every last one of yous!

Will You Help Puma PAC Be the Strongest Voice of the Voters in the USA?

Hey Murph,
Here’s a link to what will be happening in SF this weekend. We’ll be at SimoFish’s house on Friday to make signs and then we’ll hit the road on Saturday. I heard Market Street was closed again do to protests so this issue is not going away. SimoFish went to the Mormon Temple in Oaktown yesterday as well. If you are in the area please join us or participate in your city.
Power to the Pumas

OK so maybe this has been mentioned a gazillion times but you/we/the PUMAS need to write a BOOK.
1. It will get the info out there in a consolidated fashion.
2. It could be a collaboration between some of the major PUMA groups…each writing a chapter. Thus keeping the larger group concentrated on a central focus point…and drifting apart or becoming defunct as you have mentioned.
3.You/we could get financial support from individual PUMAS but also Lynn De Rothschild…she has name recognition and could get TV interviews to help promote it.
4. You/we have tons of info on this site to reference to chronicle who we are, how we started, fascinating blog comments…info about nobo that never made it to MSM…why we are against nobo…what our mission is now and so on.
5. We have some excellent PUMA writers to pool from here and at the other websites.
6. It would give us a focus beyond infighting and provide and opportunity to recruit more PUMAS.
7. Keep it simple and it will work!!
Entitle it: Who ARE These PUMAS? The REAL Grassroots Movement
Am going to come up with some chapter titles…anyone esle want to join in?

I was just going to post a comment on snowtigerredux’s comment 127 in the thread downstairs. Snow suggested that we branch out to other organizations that we are involved in and push the PUMA agenda. If the PUMA agenda remains simply defined (say-1. Political reform 2. Media reform 3 Equal rights for all ), then we can weave those concerns in other organizations. Then the PUMA message becomes integral into all facets of life without reinventing the wheel. GLBT PUMAs could try to pull those groups together. Someone in media or law could try to weave the PUMA message there. We also need PUMAs in every Congressional district (if possible), then we can petition our reps and be listened to. This way we are all doing things in our comfort zone and the PUMApac acts like a clearinghouse or an umbrella group for all of the other areas. At the risk of making everyone vomit, that is how ACORN was organized and why it was so successful.
zephyr 11.10.08 at 6:46 pm

i still think that bo’s arrogance may actually benefit us as now that he is( in) he may throw pelosi and anyone else he feels under the bus in order to satisfy his own meglomaniac agenda

Murphy – While we are at it and while we know you spent a lot of time redoing this site… how can we hang on to good information and research so that it is not a daily “water under the bridge ?”
There must be a way to separate the serious blog from the friendly non serious blog. Sometimes, some of us lacking time, might want to get to the meat of serious matter without scrolling past hundreds of short casual chatter.
It is impossible to discuss anything at length about a notable post if it gets buried in a few hours among other chatter.
In case any one feels like I am an ungrateful person for bringing this up because you have been slogging over hot HTML codes, I think we need to get our basic infrastructure in place. Just have to hash it out. If you don’t want to give away the passwords etc which I don’t think you should…. however, just so you know… you can change your password anytime you want and if you assign someone to build it for you, they can turn it over to you and you can upload it yourself. There are many ways where you don’t have to feel like you will be compromised or someone will hijack your website.

Vice presidential Candidate Wiley S. Drake Sr. to file in court asking to de-certify Barack Obama because he has refused to release proof of being a Natural Born Citizen, thereby disqualifying Obama in his bid for the Office of President.
The recent Lawsuit in Washington State demanding their Secretary of State to vet the citizenship credentials of Barack Obama has spawned a slew of similar suits with new lawsuits filed and/or prepared in WA, FL, NC, CO, CA, OH, FL, CT, GA, TX, MI. Related lawsuits HI, US District.
As part of this effort, this group of citizens from states across the union made an outreach to the whole presidential slate asking each candidate for president and vice president to offer up a certified copy of their birth certificates and any related candidate declarations to be placed in a library made available to the public via a non-partisan web site.
At least one VP candidate Wiley S. Drake Sr. went the next step and agreed to file a lawsuit of his own to demand the disqualification of Barack Obama unless he can prove status as a ”Natural Born Citizen” as the constitution and federal statues demand and define.
In another unrelated action, though also aimed at forcing Obama to release proof or step down, 24 potential Electoral College electors are filing action Monday morning in court also demanding proof. A call is herein being issued to any elector in any state, especially democrat electors who would like to join that effort. Electors interested in adding their name to this lawsuit can contact Mr. Marquis who will put you in contact with the attorney handling that case.

I really have a problem with trying to reform the democratic party.
I think you dems have too great a stake in the brand. The label if you will.
You want your party back, well, they don’t want you.
Hard to face i now but, thats the truth. now that they have won, Brazilles statement that they don’t need you has come true.
You have no voice no power and no base from which to operate inside the democratic infrastructure.
SO how are you going to reform the party? Why would they listen to you?

It’s complicated and there are a lot of ways to do it. One of the ways is watchdogging their moves in the Senate and keeping an eye on what bills they are getting their fingers on. Or working to abolish the caucus system, etc.

honora 11.10.08 at 7:17 pm
snowtigerredux- I’m not so sure that the DNC can really afford to lose PUMAs. I know they won this election, but that was because 98% of the Democratic AA voters, voted and were very involved. Unless the DNC plans on appointing an AA ever election cycle, they will need PUMAs in the future. I am confident that DNC people in the back rooms know that.
I am committed to trying to change the DNC from within. If we fail then we move on, but the organization and the name are too much to just walk away from without a fight.

Further on a more useful blog..
Casual Chats and serious discussions need to be separate. It is really embarassing to have tantrums/down right fights or silly posts to be in full view of new comers or serious posts who have no time for sorting them out.
My major beef is that important stuff keeps getting lost or ignored as we RACE to comment on the latest juicy tid bit.
I think Anna7000 or someone has already listed some good suggestions but got shot down because someone thought we are ungrateful towards Murphy. I think our gratitude has been on display every single day that we are here and I think Murphy knows that very well.

Yes that’s a big need. Most blog software lets you give a post one or more ‘tags’. If we had a tag ’serious action’ or ’serious info’ etc, then the reader can click on ’serious action’ to filter out any posts that don’t have that among their tags. Many blogs show those tags in ‘cloud’ format in a sidebar.

COmplicated isnt the word.
They won the election. The model is in place. You have no argument against them except what has already been said. If you can’t get the majority of registered democrats to back you you will fail.
I agree with Murphys first two goals.
More importantly I believe we need to focus on the midterm elections. With a democratic controlled congress “O”s power is enormous.
If we can lessen that we can sow down his agenda and make n mistake about it, his agenda is maintaining and expanding his own power.
Already his bots are making excuses as to why “o” can’t do everything in one term. And we are how many hours away from the election?
They are setting the stage NOW for a second term.
We need to stop them. Get out in front. Act not react.
FIrst,, we need to make a long list of his promises. aSecond as each one is thrown under the bus make an issue out of them. SHow people he was lying all along.
Third, expand our power base by bringing other orgs into it by individual effort. Join any other group you support and start bringing out the message we need to get out.
Make it part of the dialouge.
Fourth, we need to watch and see where the current congressmen are vulnerable. Target key races for the midterm and get our candidates in place.
HOws that for a start?

Murphy and others: Regarding Sheila Blair: Please go to the following link for a taped interview that Charlie Rose had with Sheila Blair on October 21, 2008. Also when one gets to this blog site, go to right side of page for links to other information about this woman.
Research regarding this person and others who are mentioned for possible appointments is needed. If one does not know who the players will be, one knows little about what the outcomes or plans will be. If one knows little about that, one knows little. If one knows little, one knows not enough about whom and what to protest going forward in this regime.

OK here is part of a E-mail I got from NOW, the old guard in the women’s movement, largely ineffective because they can’t join up with anyone who isn’t ideologically pure and because they are not focused on todays needs and goals but instead worry about an endless list of problems. This is a list of the committees they have that they need people on… * Political Action Committee (PAC)
* Young Feminist Task Force
* Family Law Advisory Committee
* Combating Racism Advisory Committee
* Mothers and Caregivers Economic Rights Advisory Committee
* Disability Rights Advisory Committee
* Equal Marriage ad hoc Advisory Committee
* Global Strategies and Issues Advisory Committee
To many obscure issues when women still are not represented in government and still don’t have equal pay. Also we now have reproductive rights lets put worrying about losing them on the back burner. So I am looking for a womens group who focuses on no more than three things, these things should be relevant to all women, gay, straight, mothers, nonmothers, married, single. My choices are
1. Media. Images of women in media. The fact that 90% of basic cable channels are aimed at men and the 10% that are aimed at women have few female viewers because the content is cheap, mostly conceived and produced by males and is meant to appeal to male advertisers who want to sell their products to women. To deal with this we need consumer choice in TV so we can dump these sexist channels and stop subsidizing them. There is also a major problem in the recording industry both with misogynist music and with the need of female “singers” to perform in underwear or nude or not have a voice.
2. Misogyny in the Democrat party and to a lesser extent in the Republican party and also in our country’s political institutions.
3. Equal pay for equal work.
We can review these on a yearly basis. But no energy diversion into issues which may be compelling but do not benefit all women. I haven’t found a group yet so If you folks find one tell me! I have hope for The New Agenda.

Look I figured out a long time ago that both philosophies, the real ones not the manipulated garbage we get, have mostly the same goals. Mainly just different ways of achieving those goals.
Liberal and conservative are not cuss words.
I dont trust the repubs any more than I do the current crop of dems.
Difference being the dems are now in charge and are even more extreme than the repubs.

That’s good for a start. Can you look into candidates to support? I know the republicans are organizing their young conservative squad for bigger leadership in the future. To be honest, I don’t trust any democrats right now. So, in a way, that part is very much on the shoulders of the republicans. They are the ones who will mainly work out who the candidate will be.
And I know what you are saying about reforming the party. My idea was more or less watchdogging…and taking on certain things that need to be changed. I am no fool. I know it’s a regime.

Hey Pumas this a funny joke.After numerous rounds of ‘We don’t even know if Osama is still alive’,
Barrack Hussein Obama has now been telling everyone he will capture Osama Bin Laden when elected.”
So, Osama himself decided to send Barrack Hussein Obama a letter in his own handwriting to let him know he was still in the game. Obama opened the letter and it contained a single line of coded.
MESSAGE::370H-SSV-0773H
Obama was baffled, so he e-mailed it to Howard Dean.
Dean and the DNC and his aides had no clue either, so they sent it to Joe Biden.
Joe Biden could not solve so it was sent to the FBI and the CIA
Eventually they asked John McCain and his Staff to look at it.
And within minutes McCain’s Staff e-mailed Obama with this reply:
‘Tell Obama he’s holding the message upside down’.

DancesWithPumas . True not all women watch TV but most do and TV is taken as a true reflection of our society all over the world when in fact it is just what ever the men who run the media think. The only choice consumers can make regarding it is to subscribe and subsidize all of the channels or take none of the channels. As well as the problem that the MSM acts like gate keepers to keep any new programmers from bringing their product to market. And another problem is the vulnerable(elderly,sick,young and unsupported) watch more TV than anyone else.

Someone said Actions/News/Tinfoil. That sounds good, except maybe one or two more: Chatter/Everything.
Now if these were organized by tags instead of by being whole separate files…. Like, someone has a few minutes to relax, clicks on Everythign which includes all tags. (Like the old way of everything going into one file.) Reading along you find a news post with tag “News: Michelle pregnant”. That’s so interesting you click on that tag to instantly bring up all other items with that tag including Actions, jokes, Tinfoil baby shower items, etc.
Also sometimes I feel like phoning regardless of the subject, so it would be good to have a tag for ‘Action: phone’, ‘Action: email’, etc.
People wouldn’t be REQUIRED to put a lot of tags on their posts, just available if they want to. Non-tagged posts might come up only under Chatter. If someone sees an important post without a tag, that person can repost it with the right tag.
I think all this needs is the standard tags/cloud feature that comes with most blog software and major free blogs.

Just to be a little reductionist….
This is a blog. One of many PUMA blogs. There are also many other blogs focused on diffent causes. Most of us post at more than one blog and work for more than one cause.
I suggest that this blog continue to do what this blog does best: actions and research. For whatever compatible cause our members ask help for, from one week to the next, as different things happen in the outside world.
Current needs in the news seem to include Hillary’s health care subcomittee, reaction to Prop 8, defending Palin. Up soon I hope will be founding and/or supporting alternative news sites getting started (http://dailypuma.blogspot.com/ is one).
We don’t need to pledge our whole group forever to certain priorities. We can just do actions and discussions on whatever our members bring up — just as we’ve always done, really.
Setting a particular focus would mean losing some members and trying to recruit from outside to replace them.
PS. Subject to authority of Murphy and Mama and others that are doing more of the work and paying more of the expense of course.

RE POCPUMA…While I am not a person of color, I joined this pac when it began as an action of solidarity…I have just received an email from its founder stating that ..POCPUMA is not going away . They will continue to serve as opposition to the Obama actions of the regime(my word) in concert with Democrats, Republicans, and Independants. By the way, the founder of this blog noted a couple comments ago that He had joined the Republican Party…Interesting ongoing changes within Pumasphere and continuities within changes…It is the nature of anti-Obama efforts from start to now and beyond.
This is healthy there and here and whereever….in my view.

What do you folks (not guys according to Dances)
———————————-
Thanks.
It’s just my personal preference. “Folks” is inclusive of men and women. Using the term “guys” for mixed gendered groups, reinforces and elevates the status of men over women. Can you imagine the reaction men men would have if we used “hey, gals” instead? Most would find it demeaning. I find it demeaning to be addressed as “guys”.
The Constitution refers to All Men… and is supposed to be inclusive, except when they switch up and use the “men” term against us, to exclude women.
The GLBT movement had to expand and separate out lesbians (women) from the term “Gays”, for the same reason, and to promote the visibility of women.
If we’re fighting against sexism and misogyny … I see nothing wrong with being recognized.

“There’s an announcement here, with a link to specific locations in each state, city….”
Where in the heck is it????
I went to the link and there’s only indiv blogs again. I literally read thru ALL of them since 10/6. No link to just a “specific locations” by State that I can easily see.
gee whiz, what a blind-like-a-bat PUMA I am…. what a pain in the PUMAbutt I am..but could you point me to exact location? (ie., upper LFT, RT, down @ bottom RT, etc.)
MURPHY: FROM A Site DESIGN point of view, I would suggest pulling out (differentiating) your FORUMs and repositioning them at the FAR LFT (people read LFT to RT) on the home pg –colorizing or highlighting in some way so your audiences (new or established) can better navigate to find the correct blog. I believe by doing just that, a lot of confusion would be remedied.
Candid comment: I swear, until reading today’s blog, I had NO idea you have these others spaces located within a ‘FORUM’. And I’m a design professional who earns a living accessing media and research online resources.

A thought about this birth certificate thing : it occurs to me that there is one person who clearly has the standing to ask for the birth certificate, and that person is G.W.Bush.
The problem here is , the wants/needs/desires of “We, the (little)People”
have never been of much importance to GWB and the republicans.
Never the less , I thought I would throw out this idea for discussion.

Someone is trying one already though it only lists blogs: http://dailypuma.blogspot.com/
I’d like to see something like a guestbook where anyone who sees a GOOD story at news media sites can post the link to it. That way the good stories wouldn’t get buried by the bad ones.
Also I wish we could get Lynn de Rothschild to start something like Huffington Post that would be prestigious enough that people like Hillary would want to post there.
Whatever the sites are, we can all link to them in our other blogs and put them in our sigs when we post elsewhere, etc.
Do you have any ideas?

Why do they assume they know everything that went on behind the scenes and that threats were not given to Hillary if she did not comply. Why do they think she had so much choice in her career. How To Go About Contacting Your State’s ElectorsPosted by Jean Kulig-Tucker on November 10, 2008 at 8:34pm in United States: “State Electorate Action Information”
Back to United States: “State Electorate Action Information” Discussions
Most states have Elector information online. Sometimes it is difficult to find this information, so before you try searching, check to see that the information is not already posted in your States “Electorate Action” Group.
To search for this on your own, do a Google Search http://www.google.com for:

Seattle #80- I like your ideas, I’m hoping New Agenda can be the vehicle to work on them.
As to the 3 goals stated on the top, I have a story to tell about reforming the party.
After 2004, some disaffected DFA (Dean) and Kuchinich (sp?) supporters started a group
called PDA, they organized into congressional districts and would meet locally and with
their Representatives to present their concerns. Luckily they had someone who was
motivated to meet with Reps. in DC and had some connections to make it happen.
I’m not sure how much success they had, but aren’t we similar in many ways- a majority of PUMAs are disaffected Clinton Dems.
The meeting up a couple of months ago locally didn’t pan out here for me but it was the right way to start. I hope we could resurrect that linking of PUMAs in each state- It’s a way to meet in real life and attract other PUMAs. I know this Pac has had great success online but at some point it has to become real life too.
PDA had to become a 501c (I think it’s called), perhaps at some point so will PUMA.
That would be where the fundraising comes in.
If we are to imitate the successful conservative bloc- we will need to have a unifying theme, and a commitment in terms of time and money. And over time our influence will grow.
Just my 2 cents.

Specifically, preventing the implosion of the country, and probably shortly thereafter the world. Ensuring and promoting gender and women’s rights, while noble while basic , will not achieve that. when the status of women is elevated and accorded the same “respect” as men, the political landscape will change, and all else will follow.

KarenWI 11.10.08 at 9:16 pm
#53 snowtigerredux- this is pretty much the same thing I said. The faux dem’s have such a stranglehold on the party now (just LISTEN to Brazille, both Clintons, Ferraro… just about ANY of the “old timers”) – I just can’t see how you can possibly “fix” this. It would like trying to topple the Roman Empire. Not impossible, mind you- but if the “old timers” could neither stop it, nor go against it, how can WE??? What are you planning on doing? Chipping away at them a person and a law at a time? Sorry, but I just think that the “old” dem party was in the throes of being destroyed for the past 10 years now…. and it’s dead now. Hillary was the last cry for the good… and threw in the towel when she came up against the “wall”….

OMG did you ever think they might select Donna Brazile as the Democratic Party Chairman? Don’t be surprise!
Notanegghead, good to see your post. I’m sure you have had a lot of crap thrown at you during this election as an African American. But, as a disgusted, 52 year old, gay, white woman, I rejoice in knowing we have a such a broad (no pun intended) collection of wonderful “meeting of the minds” here. It makes me proud to be a part of such a large, diverse, group of people with some down-home common sense!

KarenWI 11.10.08 at 9:42 pm

zephyr 11.10.08 at 9:42 pm
((((Murphy)))
Great….put me in touch with that person. I am going to start by working on an outline of what needs to be accomplished. As I said I don’t know anything about publishing so someone who has that backgound would be helpful. Am in the thinking stages now as to:
a.What audience we want to project to…purpose
b.What we want to project…i.e. the broader spectrum of the PUMA alliance….a theme, if you will
c. Outline of chapters and content
I need to learn what can be used from the internet legally
so having access to an attorney would be helpful
Once I have the outline I will email it to you…it may take a bit of time for me to get that organized and thought out.
You said you have been thinking about a book, so if you want to jot down some of your thoughts and ideas and email them to me that would be great. I am assuming you or Mama has my regular email.

KarenWI 11.10.08 at 10:00 pm
Whoopss… got so excited my finger slipped and it sent it before it was on… you are just NOT going to believe this:
*************
Who Am I?
I was raised in one country but my father was born in another.
I was not his only child. He fathered several children with a number of women.
I became very close to my mother because my father showed little interest in me.
Then my mother died at an early age from cancer.
Later in life, questions arose over my real name. My birth records were sketchy and no one was able to produce a reliable birth certificate.
I grew up practicing one faith, but converted to Christianity because this was widely accepted in my country. But I practiced non-traditional beliefs and did not follow mainstream Christianity.
I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult before I decided it was time to get serious about my life and I embarked on a new career.
I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those who read my memoirs that I had difficulties accepting that my father abandoned me as a child.
I became active in local politics when I was in my 30s and then burst onto the scene as a candidate for national office when I was in my 40s.
I had a virtually non-existent resume, very little work history, and no experience in leading a single organization. Yet I was a powerful speaker who managed to draw incredibly large crowds during my public appearances.
At first, my political campaign focused on my country’s foreign policy. I was critical of my country in the last war. But what launched my rise to national prominence were my views on the country’s economy.
I had a plan on how we could do better. I knew which group was responsible for getting us into this mess. Mine was a peoples’ campaign.
I was the surprise candidate because I emerged from outside the traditional path of politics and was able to gain widespread popular support.
I offered the people the hope that together we could change our country and the world.
I spoke on behalf of the downtrodden including persecuted minorities such as Jews, but my actual views were not widely known until after I became my nation’s leader.
However, anyone could have easily learned what I really believed if they had simply read my writings and examined those people I associated with. But they did not.
Then I became the most powerful man in the world. And the world learned the truth.
Who am I?

Here are the instructions from Steve Marquis for helping get to the electors giving them political cover.
He said we can HELP by contacting his grassroots people established on his website at: http://peoplespassions.org/
What they are looking for is getting their petitions, letters and faxes out there pressuring Senators and Representatives to stand up for the 20thAmendment and the Constitution.
That Amendment was created by the Founding Fathers in case a presidential candidate got by them that wasn’t a US Natural Born Citizen. To trigger this Amendment, what is needed is (1)Senator and (1) Representative to ask for a Congressional investigation into the qualifications of Sen Obama as a Natural Born Citizen.
Naturally, the Congressional members who step forward for this undertaking will have their lives and property threatened. Steve has a 7 step plan to accomplish this goal.
First of all, he needs to supply cover for any Congressperson coming forward to challenge the Grand Pubah; meaning the 2 people involved need thousands of letters, petitions and faxes in the way of public outcry giving the 2 individuals political cover.
He wants us to go to his website and make contact with the organization he already has in place under “The Call to Action” link.
as a side note: He mentioned how rough this can get. Steve is an engineer, and at his place of work when the BO Campaign got wind of what he is doing, an Obama thug went into his workplace, asked for his boss and told him Steve was planning on shooting up the office..
anyway.. Steve has your e-mail Murphy and the PUMApac website and he will be contacting you with his plan. (I told him to look you up on Youtube in case he has any doubts PUMApac is for real)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BillieJoe… are you sick? I was having my dinner and talking with Steve. I have to read a bit on the Kennedy quotes to see exactly what he had to say about Hillary..before I can compose a letter. I’m not exactly sure what the protocol is…but every prowl I’ve received has been per Murphy. Please someone, advise.
what dakinikat said:
“Whenever women make progress, men step in with some other distraction and create disunity. I see this same pattern today in the Democratic Party ONE HUNDRED and SIXTY years after the Seneca Falls Convention and well over TWO HUNDRED years after Abigail Adams.
Women, please stop and think about this before you donate your time to peace movements, misc. civil rights movements, ANY kind of movement. We are the work horses of all of these movements, yet how many of these movements turn around and provide us ANYTHING but lip service? Think of the DNC, what have they done recently to stop the hemorrhage of reproductive rights? support equal pay laws? stop SEXIST attacks on women candidates? Which women in this system (yes, YOU Nancy Pelosi, yes, You Candy Crowely, yes, you Cindy Sheehan, yes, you Donna Brazille, yes YOU, Governor Sibilius, yes YOU Senator Mary Landrieu, yes you Secretary of State Rice,yes, YOU Gloria Borger, …) will willingly sell out their own sex to be acceptable to the boys and get recognition in a movement or a profession not of our own design whose rules are set up so that we ultimately fail.
Just THINK ABOUT IT when you celebrate this Fourth of July. Look at your daughters, your mothers, your grandmothers, your granddaughters, and the women around you and THINK about it. What movement did I join that stopped me from asking for basic human and democratic rights for women? Think about what happened to Hillary Clinton this primary season and ASK yourselves will you compromise YET again?
How much is that compromise worth to you?”
The thing is, almost all of the country does NOT know about the bc issue. If small town America, conservatives and disgruntled dems KNEW about the bc and the very good possibility that this has and will be a constitutional crisis then I believe those people would go after the issue, especially those who so strongly support our country and constitution. But you can’t fight about it, if you don’t know about it!
I also think that MANY people, if they found out they were duped so badly, would become royally P.O.’ed and also fight for proof of Nobo’s citizenship.
One thing I learned at the Dem convention is that we, Pumas and others worked so very hard to get the superdelegates to vote for Hillary, but the reality is the only ones who REALLY counted were the regular delegates from each state. THEY were the ones who made the vote happen or not. Our difficulty was finding out who those state delegates were and getting info. to them so they were armed and ready as to what might happen at the convention. So, my point is that sometimes it is another level of people who actually will have a much bigger impact than the ones we actually think it might be. Yes, higher government officials can intervene in the process to halt it but get the “people” around the country fired up and they will make sure the bc comes to light AND the constitution is upheld.
Finally, the issue with Bush. Bush could sign some order, I am sure, if there is a constitutional crisis at hand and stop the process until everything is indeed verified. I know he has the authority to do this to intevene and halt the process if a war should break out.
All of this of course is IMOP!!
One more thing, the way that the dems are going to try and get around it is to say that if he isn’t sworn in, there would be major rioting. Well, the choice is, I guess, living with the short-term implications of riots or the long-term implications of our constitution meaning nothing. Oh, and btw, those who hacked into the govt. computers (Chinese, I think), probably also know whether or not nobo is legitimately qualified or not and every international legal document will be meaningless and they will know it! I say, I want to keep the constitution intact and we need to fight this before it is too late.
Dances, the brunt is being borne by Mormons who flooded another state with $20 mill
As far as AA Obots— he, not they, deserve the full lashing.
He KNEW that 70 % of the AA populations was homophobic. That’s why he campaigned with ex-gay preachers and other RANK homophobes from South Carolina, Texas and yes…California.
Even tho the Mormon cult took the forefront in the homophobe attack, had Obama spoken up instead of signal far right, his voters could’ve made the difference.
In fact, they DID make the difference. So focus and blame is rightly leveled on them.
alohapuma 11.10.08 at 11:11 pm
Murphy,
What is your take away from the Palin interview? Is she really going after the media?
snowtigerredux 11.10.08 at 11:11 pm
DancesWithPumas 67% of the AA community here voted yes on 8.
A record number of AA’s voted in th9is election which added up to 10% of the total voting.
SImple numbers. Had the black community supported gay marriage it would have failed.Had the AA community not come out in record numbers it would have failed. I dont recall the exact number it lost by but, it was very very close.
Black preachers were promoting 8 all across the state and bobo did nothing to help defeat it.
All the while seeking and getting the support of the LGBT community.
Now commentators are essentially telling the gay community to “get over it”.
murphy 11.10.08 at 11:13 pm
Over 70% of blacks voted in favor of the ban.
the rest of the electorate was MUCH more evenly divided. Whites opposed the ban 52 to 48. Asians were the same as whites. Hispanics were 55-45 in favor of the ban.
because the vote was SO close among all the races except blacks, their overwhelming support for the ban can be attributed to its win.
Black democrats voted for the ban by the same percentage as white republicans.
Anyway, I didn’t mean to imply that conversation should be pruned from the blog. I was suggesting that if we had a separate place to post research etc (a secure place), that the gardener PUMA would go thru there, prune, and place in the appropriate bucket.
SUGGESTION: What if we had several email addresses to send our research to, like we do now for Action Center. We can send but only a few can read.
Proposition 8 is a statewide ballot proposition in California. On November 4, 2008, voters approved the measure and made same-sex marriage illegal in California. The campaign over Proposition 8 was fiercely contested. In the aftermath of the vote, an intense focus on Proposition 8 has continued, with those who support same-sex marriage coming together every day since the election in rallies and protests. Three lawsuits seeking to invalidate Proposition 8 have been filed. It is not yet clear what impact the ban will have on the approximately 18,000 same-sex couples in the state.[1],[2]
Proposition 8 received 52.5% of the vote in the state’s unofficial vote canvass; the Secretary of State’s office will not officially call the results of Prop 8 until December 13 after they have been able to count all absentee and provisional ballots. With 96% of the vote counted (25,423 of 25,423 precincts reporting), the totals were:[3]
Yes: 5,387,989 (52.5%)
No: 4,883,460 (47.5%)
Proposition 8 adds a new amendment to the California Constitution which says, “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California”. Before it passed, same-sex marriage was a constitutionally-protected right in California; a majority of the justices of the California Supreme Court affirmed this understanding of the constitution in May 2008.
I’m not sure what the bottomline is with the Prop 8 discussion. The African American community threw their big hearted lefty brothers and sisters under the bus? OK? So?
Done. Enough. I honestly am not interested in racial and/or sexual orientatioin distinctions anymore. I think we should focus on media bias and sexism (including all races) at this point.
I don’t know how many of you PUMAs are aware that Obama resigned his law license in 2007 because he has 17 outstanding traffic citations that he refuses to take care of…so he resigned his license to avoid censure from the bar and be forced to pay and take care of the citations. Also Michelle has resigned her license…..
ARDC Lawyer Search Results from the ARDC database last updated as of November 10, 2008 at 12:11:39 PM: for the following terms:
Last Name: Obama,
status: All, Country: all
Name Date Admitted City State Authorized to Practice?
Barack Hussein Obama December 17, 1991 N/A N/A No
Michelle Obama May 12, 1989 N/A N/A No
Former name(s):
Michelle Robinson
Very interesting that the man who makes more than $1 million a year and won’t take care of traffic violations and tickets but would rather surrender his law license….and that the supposed pres-elect will enter the Presidency with 17 violations of the law unrectified and unsettled just because he doesn’t want to be bothered with obeying they law of the land.
I’m confused about why the black community is taking the brunt of teh blame for the passage of H8. Can someone educate me?
Because they voted overwhelmingly by 70%+ for prop 8 along with the Religious ultra-conservatives which were about 70-73%….and it is the Black community being hypocrites about equality….that they are mainly liberal Democrats but it’s only equal rights and human rights when it pertains to them and all other groups can be discriminated against and they lead the way.
Murphy –
I can do these things to help “PUMAs become a strong voting bloc that is courted by all political parties”. (thank you madamab)
Research – I can do that.
Write – I can do that.
Organize – I can organize information (let someone else do the people part)
Still trying to wrap my head around how the super-interconnected-puma-blogosphere will work. Give me a bit to chew on that.
alohapuma 11.10.08 at 11:31 pm
mountainsong….I agree. I will never understand homophobia except that we all fall along a specutrum and there are (probably) many people with homosexual tendencies who don’t act on them and who are petrified of them. That’s really sad. We are not cookie cutter human animals. We are all unique…its in the DNA. I personally have no lesbian urges…all my fantacies are about men…but that’s my unique wiring. One is no better than the other.
I feel like we (as a society) waste so much time and energy trying to control and legislate this issue. I think its a no brainer and leave people alone to live out their uniqueness and lets focus on the issue that affect ALL our sons and daughers.
We are not brimming with resources. Let’s get real about wher we can have the greatest impact with our time and money right now.
I would like to post a comment for everyone to consider…it has been mentioned that we do not want the republicans help. I would like to point out, that being specific here might clarify.
We may not want the “NEOCONS in the House’s” help but, there are millions of Americans that are republican and very dissatisfied with the direction of their party. This is an American movement and would benefit greatly from the citizen republicans help as well as MODERATE higer ups.
We have overwhelming odds at the moment in trying to bring the government of the people back to full health and everyone is needed.
I would also suggest the NRA. You don’t have to agree in particulars to agree in principal. Surely, we can all agree on COUNTRY FIRST?
Everyone on deck!!! This is war!! A war of the people, by the people and for the people!
Racism, sexism/misogyny, homophobia. It’s all part of the same thing: the right for all people to be treated decently, treated equally, treated like human beings.
Thanks for helping me find the right videos at Gretawire.
Sarah is really great, I see why people say she is brilliant. It’s her gestures and her eye contact with the interviewer, and when she stops to think and it looks like she’s speaking without disguising her thoughts….
Reminds me a lot of Hillary. Like when someone asked about the media trying to get Hillary to quit, and Hillary kept saying “I don’t know why they’re doing that, it’s unprecedented….” Sarah had the same puzzlement about the media’s treatment and the crazy rumors etc.
Someone had a good point about focusing on things that help EVERYONE, not just one or another special group. Also, let’s work on things that don’t already have specialized groups working for them.
Fair news reporting — and honesty in campaigning. No one else seems to put honesty and democratic process first, character before policy. Keeping sexism out of campaigns. Making politics safer for women like Hillary and SArah.
Dems, GOP, and Inds coming TOGETHER to work on these priorities. Party second or no party.
And for means, as I keep saying, establishing some on-going news sources is a better investment than for example full page ads about one-shot issues.
Am I On the Wrong Site?
I’ve spent most of my political life working for progressive change. I am attracted to this site because of all the “PUMA” places on the web, this seems to be the one populated by progressives, rather than Republicans who, for whatever reason I can’t imagine, supported Hillary.
I should say upfront that I supported Kucinich at the beginning (see, I told you I was progressive — I support candidates who have no chance of winning.) Obviously Barack was not my first choice but he has been elected and I don’t want to spend the next four years yelling into the wind.
I WANT to spend that time working to make the Democratic party more responsive to progressive/liberal agendas and it would be a plus if those values could be voiced by and legislated through female candidates. (As you can see, I was NO fan of Palin.)
So my question is — is this the right site to pursue this? I absolutely don’t want to crash any party to which I am not invited and I absolutely don’t want to piss off anybody here who has obviously invested more time, energy and money to their cause.
If I need to go somewhere else, please let me know. I am NOT sitting in judgment on anybody on this site … but I don’t want to join a site with goals that are not the same as mine.
Thanks.
I’ve said it before and it is worth repeating: Obama’s TOP priority is to begin machinations to fix the 2012 election using an expanded, “all of the above” plan for voter fraud. Once that is in motion, on to other things.
Sylena 11.11.08 at 8:17 am
I think the most important thing to do is to NOT write a book, but start a cheap, easily accessed paper based magazine and distribute it to all local stores for free. We can use donations and ads to pay for it. It is actually not that expensive, the hardest thing is finding a printer. Most newspapers will do this for us when their printer is not in operation for a nominal price. A few of us with time can get a program on our computer such as Publisher, throw in the stories, captions, and ads… then paste it on newspaper block and send it to the printer. The printer will then give it back and the people can ship it to designated people in every large town to put it in groceries and places were people are most likely to pick up something FREE to read.
This way the “watch dog” approach is quicker to point out new Obama problems, and will reach more people easier then books or blogs. I’ve done this before with a little newspaper down on South Padre Island. I don’t have time to do it, but I can help distribute afterwards.
What do you think?
